There are People of the Book who, if you [Prophet] entrust them with a heap of gold, will return it to you intact, but there are others of them who, if you entrust them with a single dinar, will not return it to you unless you keep standing over them, because they say, ‘We are under no obligation towards the gentiles.’ They tell a lie against God and they know it

۞ وَمِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ مَنۡ إِن تَأۡمَنۡهُ بِقِنطَارࣲ یُؤَدِّهِۦۤ إِلَیۡكَ وَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ إِن تَأۡمَنۡهُ بِدِینَارࣲ لَّا یُؤَدِّهِۦۤ إِلَیۡكَ إِلَّا مَا دُمۡتَ عَلَیۡهِ قَاۤىِٕمࣰاۗ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ قَالُوا۟ لَیۡسَ عَلَیۡنَا فِی ٱلۡأُمِّیِّـۧنَ سَبِیلࣱ وَیَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ وَهُمۡ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٧٥

wamin ahli l-kitābi man in tamanhu biqinṭārin yu-addihi ilayka wamin'hum man in tamanhu bidīnārin lā yu-addihi ilayka illā mā dum'ta ʿalayhi qāiman dhālika bi-annahum qālū laysa ʿalaynā fī l-umiyīna sabīlun wayaqūlūna ʿalā l-lahi l-kadhiba wahum yaʿlamūn
