قَالَ إِن سَأَلۡتُكَ عَن شَیۡءِۭ بَعۡدَهَا فَلَا تُصَـٰحِبۡنِیۖ قَدۡ بَلَغۡتَ مِن لَّدُنِّی عُذۡرࣰا ۝٧٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Moses] said, "If I should ask you about anything after this, then do not keep me as a companion. You have obtained from me an excuse."
Abdel Haleem: Moses said, ‘From now on, if I query anything you do, banish me from your company- you have put up with enough from me.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (Moses) said: If I ask thee after this concerning aught, keep not company with me. Thou hast received an excuse from me
The Romans, The Byzantines 30:57 Noun
فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّا یَنفَعُ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مَعۡذِرَتُهُمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یُسۡتَعۡتَبُونَ ۝٥٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So that Day, their excuse will not benefit those who wronged, nor will they be asked to appease [ Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: On that Day the evildoers’ excuses will be of no use to them: they will not be allowed to make amends
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: In that day their excuses will not profit those who did injustice, nor will they be allowed to make amends
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:52 Noun
یَوۡمَ لَا یَنفَعُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ مَعۡذِرَتُهُمۡۖ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعۡنَةُ وَلَهُمۡ سُوۤءُ ٱلدَّارِ ۝٥٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The Day their excuse will not benefit the wrongdoers, and they will have the curse, and they will have the worst home
Abdel Haleem: On the Day when excuses will not profit the evildoers, their fate will be rejection and they will have the worst of homes
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The day when their excuse availeth not the evil-doers, and theirs is the curse, and theirs the ill abode
The Rising of the Dead, Resurrection 75:15 Noun
وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِیرَهُۥ ۝١٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when a community among them said, "Why do you advise [or warn] a people whom Allah is [about] to destroy or to punish with a severe punishment?" they [the advisors] said, "To be absolved before your Lord and perhaps they may fear Him."
Abdel Haleem: how, when some of them asked [their preachers], ‘Why do you bother preaching to people God will destroy, or at least punish severely?’ [the preachers] answered, ‘In order to be free from your Lord’s blame, and so that they may perhaps take heed.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when a community among them said: Why preach ye to a folk whom Allah is about to destroy or punish with an awful doom, they said: In order to be free from guilt before your Lord, and that haply they may ward off (evil)
Repentance 9:90 Noun
وَجَاۤءَ ٱلۡمُعَذِّرُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِ لِیُؤۡذَنَ لَهُمۡ وَقَعَدَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَبُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥۚ سَیُصِیبُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنۡهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٩٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And those with excuses among the bedouins came to be permitted [to remain], and they who had lied to Allah and His Messenger sat [at home]. There will strike those who disbelieved among them a painful punishment
Abdel Haleem: Some of the desert Arabs, too, came to make excuses, asking to be granted exemption. Those who lied to God and His Messenger stayed behind at home. A painful punishment will afflict those of them who disbelieved
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And those among the wandering Arabs who had an excuse came in order that permission might be granted them. And those who lied to Allah and His messenger sat at home. A painful doom will fall on those of them who disbelieve

Banning, Prohibition 66:7 Verb
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَا تَعۡتَذِرُوا۟ ٱلۡیَوۡمَۖ إِنَّمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O you who have disbelieved, make no excuses that Day. You will only be recompensed for what you used to do
Abdel Haleem: ‘You who disbelieve, make no excuses today: you are only being repaid for what you used to do.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (Then it will be said): O ye who disbelieve! Make no excuses for yourselves this day. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do
The Emissaries, Winds Sent Forth 77:36 Verb
وَلَا یُؤۡذَنُ لَهُمۡ فَیَعۡتَذِرُونَ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse
Abdel Haleem: and they will be given no chance to offer any excuses
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses
Repentance 9:66 Verb
لَا تَعۡتَذِرُوا۟ قَدۡ كَفَرۡتُم بَعۡدَ إِیمَـٰنِكُمۡۚ إِن نَّعۡفُ عَن طَاۤىِٕفَةࣲ مِّنكُمۡ نُعَذِّبۡ طَاۤىِٕفَةَۢ بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ مُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٦٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief. If We pardon one faction of you - We will punish another faction because they were criminals
Abdel Haleem: Do not try to justify yourselves; you have gone from belief to disbelief.’ We may forgive some of you, but We will punish others: they are evildoers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Make no excuse. Ye have disbelieved after your (confession of) belief. If We forgive a party of you, a party of you We shall punish because they have been guilty
Repentance 9:94 Verb
یَعۡتَذِرُونَ إِلَیۡكُمۡ إِذَا رَجَعۡتُمۡ إِلَیۡهِمۡۚ قُل لَّا تَعۡتَذِرُوا۟ لَن نُّؤۡمِنَ لَكُمۡ قَدۡ نَبَّأَنَا ٱللَّهُ مِنۡ أَخۡبَارِكُمۡۚ وَسَیَرَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمۡ وَرَسُولُهُۥ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَـٰلِمِ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَیُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They will make excuses to you when you have returned to them. Say, "Make no excuse - never will we believe you. Allah has already informed us of your news. And Allah will observe your deeds, and [so will] His Messenger; then you will be taken back to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do."
Abdel Haleem: When you return from the expedition they will carry on coming to you [believers] with excuses. Say, ‘Do not make excuses. We do not believe you: God has told us about you. God and His Messenger will watch your actions now, and in the end you will be returned to the One who knows the seen and the unseen. He will confront you with what you have done.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They will make excuse to you (Muslims) when ye return unto them. Say: Make no excuse, for we shall not believe you. Allah hath told us tidings of you. Allah and His messenger will see your conduct, and then ye will be brought back unto Him Who knoweth the Invisible as well as the Visible, and He will tell you what ye used to do
