15 قَالَ كَلَّاۖ فَٱذۡهَبَا بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۤۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسۡتَمِعُونَ ۝١٥ qāla kallā fa-idh'habā biāyātinā innā maʿakum mus'tamiʿūn God said, ‘No [they will not]. Go, both of you, with Our signs––We shall be with you, listen-ing 16 فَأۡتِیَا فِرۡعَوۡنَ فَقُولَاۤ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٦ fatiyā fir'ʿawna faqūlā innā rasūlu rabbi l-ʿālamīn Go, both of you, to Pharaoh and say, “We bring a message from the Lord of the Worlds 17 أَنۡ أَرۡسِلۡ مَعَنَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝١٧ an arsil maʿanā banī is'rāīl let the Children of Israel leave with us.” ’ 18 قَالَ أَلَمۡ نُرَبِّكَ فِینَا وَلِیدࣰا وَلَبِثۡتَ فِینَا مِنۡ عُمُرِكَ سِنِینَ ۝١٨ qāla alam nurabbika fīnā walīdan walabith'ta fīnā min ʿumurika sinīn Pharaoh said, ‘Did we not bring you up as a child among us? Did you not stay with us for many years
19 وَفَعَلۡتَ فَعۡلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِی فَعَلۡتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝١٩ wafaʿalta faʿlataka allatī faʿalta wa-anta mina l-kāfirīn And then you committed that crime of yours: you were so ungrateful.’
20 قَالَ فَعَلۡتُهَاۤ إِذࣰا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّاۤلِّینَ ۝٢٠ qāla faʿaltuhā idhan wa-anā mina l-ḍālīn Moses replied, ‘I was misguided when I did i 21 فَفَرَرۡتُ مِنكُمۡ لَمَّا خِفۡتُكُمۡ فَوَهَبَ لِی رَبِّی حُكۡمࣰا وَجَعَلَنِی مِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٢١ fafarartu minkum lammā khif'tukum fawahaba lī rabbī ḥuk'man wajaʿalanī mina l-mur'salīn and I fled from you in fear; later my Lord gave me wisdom and made me one of His messengers 22 وَتِلۡكَ نِعۡمَةࣱ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَیَّ أَنۡ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝٢٢ watil'ka niʿ'matun tamunnuhā ʿalayya an ʿabbadtta banī is'rāīl And is this- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel- the favour with which you reproach me?’ 23 قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٢٣ qāla fir'ʿawnu wamā rabbu l-ʿālamīn Pharaoh asked, ‘What is this “Lord of the Worlds”?’
