Verse 37:100 in Context

96 وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٦ wal-lahu khalaqakum wamā taʿmalūn when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?’ 97 قَالُوا۟ ٱبۡنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنۡیَـٰنࣰا فَأَلۡقُوهُ فِی ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٩٧ qālū ib'nū lahu bun'yānan fa-alqūhu fī l-jaḥīm They said, ‘Build a pyre and throw him into the blazing fire.’ 98 فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَیۡدࣰا فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِینَ ۝٩٨ fa-arādū bihi kaydan fajaʿalnāhumu l-asfalīn They wanted to harm him, but We humiliated them 99 وَقَالَ إِنِّی ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّی سَیَهۡدِینِ ۝٩٩ waqāla innī dhāhibun ilā rabbī sayahdīn He said, ‘I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me
100 رَبِّ هَبۡ لِی مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١٠٠ rabbi hab lī mina l-ṣāliḥīn Lord, grant me a righteous son,’
101 فَبَشَّرۡنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِیمࣲ ۝١٠١ fabasharnāhu bighulāmin ḥalīmi so We gave him the good news that he would have a patient son 102 فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعۡیَ قَالَ یَـٰبُنَیَّ إِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰ فِی ٱلۡمَنَامِ أَنِّیۤ أَذۡبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرۡ مَاذَا تَرَىٰۚ قَالَ یَـٰۤأَبَتِ ٱفۡعَلۡ مَا تُؤۡمَرُۖ سَتَجِدُنِیۤ إِن شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٠٢ falammā balagha maʿahu l-saʿya qāla yābunayya innī arā fī l-manāmi annī adhbaḥuka fa-unẓur mādhā tarā qāla yāabati if'ʿal mā tu'maru satajidunī in shāa l-lahu mina l-ṣābirīn When the boy was old enough to work with his father, Abraham said, ‘My son, I have seen myself sacrificing you in a dream. What do you think?’ He said, ‘Father, do as you are commanded and, God willing, you will find me steadfast.’ 103 فَلَمَّاۤ أَسۡلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلۡجَبِینِ ۝١٠٣ falammā aslamā watallahu lil'jabīn When they had both submitted to God, and he had laid his son down on the side of his face 104 وَنَـٰدَیۡنَـٰهُ أَن یَـٰۤإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ ۝١٠٤ wanādaynāhu an yāib'rāhīm We called out to him, ‘Abraham
