65 Translations
تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ
May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined! May he be ruined too
Perish the 2 hands of Abu Lahab (uncle of the prophet) and perish him!
Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he
DESTROYED WILL BE the hands of Abu Lahab, and he himself will perish
May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined... And ruined he is!
Ruin to the hands of Abu Lahab and ruin to him!
Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he
May both hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and are ruined are they
Let the two hands of Abu Lahab (the Prophet's uncle, one of his most inveterate opponents and other fiery tempered enemies of Islam) perish, and let he himself (also) perish
Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he
May Abu Lahab's both hands (or his power) perish, and may he perish.
The power of Abu Lahab will soon be destroyed and his hands cutoff
May the hands of the father of the flame perish, and may he perish
May the hands of Abi Lahab be ruined, and may he be ruined!
Abu Lahebs two hands shall perish, and he shall perish
May both the hands of Abu Lahab be destroyed – and they are destroyed
Perished are the two hands of Abu Lahab and again perished.
The hands of Abu Laheb shall perish, and he shall perish
Perish shall the hands of The Father of Flame, and he shall perish
Perish the hands of AbiLahab, and perish he
LET the hands of ABU LAHAB perish,and let himself perish
Broke up the two hands of Abu Lahab [Father of the flame (of opposition; or the most furious opponent of Islam)] and he broke up (completely)
Ruined were the hands of Abu Lahab and he was ruined.
Doomed are the hands of the father of flame! He will perish.
Perish the hands of Abu Lahab! And perish he
Destroyed were the hands of Abu Lahab, and he lay utterly doomed
Abu Lahab’s hands will perish and he will perish
May the hands of Abu Lahab perish. And may he perish.
Abu Lahab's hands are perished; and he too
Perished be the two hands of Abu Lahab and be he perished himself (he has pointed his finger to Our Beloved)
Condemned is the hand of Abu-Lahab; condemned indeed
Condemned are the hands of the fire maker; condemned
Condemned are the hands of the firebrand; condemned.
Father of the flame of a smokeless fire's (known as Prophet Mohammad's uncle) hand was destroyed/lost, and destroyed/lost
DOOMED are the hands of him of the glowing countence: and doomed is he
Would the hands of Abu Lahab be cut up, (i.e., perish) and would he be cut up (too)
The power of Abu Lahab will perish, and he will perish
May the hands of Abu Lahab perish
Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he
Doomed to perish is the hand of ‘Abu Lahab”! And doomed to eternal perdition is he!
May the hands of Abu Lahab _ (an uncle of the Prophet) _ perish; and so may he
May both hands of Abu Lahab perish! He will indeed perish!
Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, (the instruments of his cruel actions against those who recognized Allah) and likewise perish he
Abu Lahab’s hands are broken, he’s ruined.
May the hands of Abu Lahab perish, and he ˹himself˺ perish!
May the hands of the father of flame perish, and may he perish.
MAY THE hands of Abu-Lahab² perish! And may he himself perish
Condemned are the works of Abee Lahab, and he is condemned
Doomed are the hands of Abu Lahab, and he is doomed too.
Doomed are the hands of Abu Lahab, and he is doomed too.
Perished Abee Lahab’s hands, and he perished.
May the hands of Abu Lahab perish; doomed he is
Perished is the power of Abi Lahab, and perished is he
Perdition overtake both hands of Abu Lahab, and he will perish
Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he
May the hands of Abu Lahab perish, and may he perish
Perish the hands of the Father of Flame (Abu’-Lahab)! Perish he
Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he.
Condemned are the hands of Abee Lahab, and he is condemned
Moribund are the hands of the inflamed, and moribund is he.
May the power [the hands] of Ab? Lahab perish! He will perish
May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he
Ruined are the two hands of Abu Lahab, and he is ruined.
Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he
Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he
مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ
Neither his wealth nor his gains will help him
His wealth and whatever he earned did not benefit him!
His substance availed him not, nor that which he earned
Of no avail shall be his wealth, nor what he has acquired
Neither his wealth nor his earnings availed him!
His wealth has not helped him nor anything he has earned.
Neither his wealth availed him, nor what he had earned
His wealth has not availed him, nor his gains
His wealth and what he has accomplished shall avail him naught
His wealth avails him not, neither what he has earned
His wealth and what he has earned will be of no use to him.
Neither his wealth nor his worldly accomplishments will be of any help to him
No profit will he have for all his wealth, and all his gains
His wealth did not avail him, nor did what he earned.
His wealth shall not avail him, nor what he has earned
His wealth did not benefit him in the least, nor did whatever he earned
Of no avail to him was his wealth nor all that he earned.
His riches shall not profit him, neither that which he hath gained
His wealth shall not avail him, nor what he has gained
His wealth will not suffice him, neither what he has gained
His wealth and his gains shall avail him not
Did not benefit him his wealth and whatever he earned (through his concepts, beliefs and actions)
His wealth availed him not nor whatever he earned.
He will not profit from all his wealth and belongings!
His wealth and whatever he earned did not avail him anything
His wealth did not avail him, nor his acquisitions
His wealth and that which he earns will not avail him
His wealth and that which he earned will not save him.
His wealth and what he earned was of no avail to him
Neither His (inherited) wealth nor his earned riches have given him any benefit
His money will not avail him, nor what he has earned
His money will not avail him, nor what he has earned.
His money will not avail him, nor what he has earned.
His property/possession/wealth and what he gained/acquired did not enrich/suffice from him
What will his wealth avail him, and all that he has gained
In no way did his wealth avail him, neither whatever he earned
His wealth and gains will not exempt him
May he too perish
Neither his wealth benefited him, nor what he earned
Neither his wealth nor what he earned would benefit him.
(All) his wealth, and everything he has earned failed him
Neither his wealth nor whatsoever he earns will avail him.
Neither his wealth nor all his gains will save him from what awaits him of retributive punishment
Neither his wealth nor his achievements will help him.
Neither his wealth nor ˹worldly˺ gains will benefit him.
His wealth and what he earned will not benefit him.
Nothing shall his wealth and gains avail him
His money and whatever he has accomplished will never help him
His wealth and all that he gained would not help him.

His money did not avail him, nor what he earned.

(There is) no benefit to him (in the Hereafter) from all his wealth, and from all his gains

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ
he will burn in the Flaming Fire––
He will be burnt soon in a fire of blazing flames,
Anon he shall roast into Fire having flame
He will be roasted in the fire
He will be subject to a blazing Fire!
He will burn in a Flaming Fire.
Soon he will enter the blazing fire
He will enter a flaming Fire to roast
He shall soon enter a Fire full of leaping flames (to burn others of his kind as well)
he shall roast at a flaming fir
He is going to enter (and burn in) a flaming fire,
He shall soon be thrown in the Hell in a fire with high flames
He will soon burn in a fire of a blazing flame
He will roast in a flaming fire,
He shall broil in a fire that flames
He will soon enter the flaming fire
He will soon enter a fire full of blazings.
He shall go down to be burned into flaming fire
He shall soon broil in a Fire that flames
he shall roast at a Flaming Fire
Burned shall he be at the fiery flame
Very soon he reaches a Fire of (furious) flame
He will roast in a fire, possessing flames
He will burn in a fire of blazing flames.
Soon he shall be burnt in a flaming fire (a pun on the meaning of Abu Lahab, "father of flames")
Surely, he will be cast into a Flaming Fir
He will burn in fire giving rise to flames -
He will enter flaming fire,
[In the life to come] he shall burn in a Fire of blazing flame
Soon he will tumble into the Flaming Fire
He will be sent to a flaming Fire
He will be sent to a flaming fire.
He will be sent to a flaming fire.
He will roast/suffer/burn (in) a fire that of (a) flame of smokeless fire
[In the life to come] he shall have to endure a fire fiercely glowing
He will roast at a flaming Fire, (Literally: fire comprising flame)
He will be plunged in flaming Fire
His property and worldly gains will be of no help to him
He will soon enter a Fire, full of flames
He will burn (forever and ever) in an inferno of blazing flames!
Soon, he will roast in the blazing fire
He will burn (forever and ever) in an inferno of blazing flames!
He shall suffer the blazing fire which emits mountainous flames
Soon he will enter the Flaming Fire;
He will burn in a flaming Fire,
He will enter a fire full of flames.
He shall be burnt in a flaming fire,³
He has incurred the blazing Hell
He will burn in a fire strongly glowing
He will burn in a fire strongly glowing
He will be flamed in a fire possessor of flames.
He shall be plunged in a flaming fire
He shall have to endure a fire blazing, glowing
He shall soon burn in fire that flames
Soon shall he burn in a flaming fire
He shall enter a blazing Fire
Soon he will be burnt in a Fire of burning Flame
He will enter a flaming Fire.
He will burn in a Flaming Fire
He will burn in a flaming fire,
"He will be pushed down into a flaming Fire,"
He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flam
Soon he will broil in a fire possessed of smokeless flames,
Burnt soon will he be in a Fire of Blazing Flame
Burnt soon will he be in a Fire of Blazing Flame
وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ
and so will his wife, the firewood-carrier
and his wife, the carrier of wood (she used to put thorns on the way of the prophet),
And his wife also: the firewood carrier
And his wife, the portress of fire wood
His wife as well... As a wood-carrier!
And so will his wife, the firewood-carrier,
and his wife [too], the firewood carrier
And (with him) his wife, carrier of firewood (and of evil tales and slander)
And his wife too, the carrier of fire wood and bearer of slanders and calumnies (will also be enveloped in the flames)
and his wife, the carrier of the firewood
and (so is) his wife, carrier of the firewood,
And his wife will be put in charge of carrying wood for this Fire
His wife will carry the wood as fuel
while his wife, that firewood carrier—
and his wife carrying faggots!
And so will his wife; carrying a bundle of firewood on her head
And his wife who was the bearer of the firewood.
and his wife also, bearing wood
And his wife shall carry the wood as fuel
and his wife, laden with firewoo
And his wife laden with fire wood,
as well as his wife (being) a she-carrier for the wood-fuel (to further boost up the Fire)
and his woman, the carrier of firewood,
His wife will carry the wood for fuel.
and his wife, the carrier of crackling fire wood
along with his wife, that carrier of slanderous tales
And his wife -- the bearer of slander
and his wife (too who is a) carrier of fire-wood.
Along with his wife, carrier of (thorny) wood —
And his (damned, wretched) wife (too) who carries (on her head) the burden of (thorny) twigs (and spreads them in the way of Our Beloved, to injure the holy soles of his feet)
And his wife who carries the logs
And his wife who carries the logs.
And his wife who carries the logs.
And his woman (wife) the fire wood's/fuel's carrier/lifter
together with his wife, that carrier of evil tales
And his wife, the constant bearer of firewood
And his wife, the wood-carrier
He will suffer in a blazing fir
and his wife as well,__the wicked carrier of firewood
And his wife (too), the firewood carrier.
And his woman, that tale-bearing malicious gossip
And his wife (too), the carrier of the firewood,
Along with his slanderous wife who carried bundles of thorny wood (and laid them in the Prophet’s path to cause him bodily injury and to render his mission vain)
so will his wife, the firewood-carrier –
and ˹so will˺ his wife, the carrier of ˹thorny˺ kindling,
And his wife, the carrier of gossip,
and his wife, laden with firewood
Also his wife, who led the persecution
and his wife as well, the carrier of firewood.
and his wife as well, the carrier of firewood.
And his woman, the firewood’s carrier.
and his wife the carrier of firewood
And his wife, that carrier of slanderous tales, the firewood hauler
And his wife, the bearer of fuel
And his wife, too, bearer of slander
And his wife, carrier of firewood
And his wife shall carry the (crackling) wood, as fuel
And his wife, the carrier of firewood.
And his wife—the firewood carrier
with his wife bringing the firewood,
"and (so will) his wife, the wood-carrier."
And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood
And his wife, the carrier of firewood,
His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!
His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!
فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍ
with a palm-fibre rope around her neck
she will have a twisted rope of palm fiber around her neck.
On her neck shall be a cord of twisted fibre
Will have a strap of fibre rope around her neck
With a rope of palm-fiber around her neck!
with a rope of twisted fibre round her neck.
with a rope of palm fibre around her neck
Around her neck will be a halter of strongly twisted rope
Having round her neck a halter of twisted strands
upon her neck a rope of palm-fibre
around her neck will be a rope of palm fiber.
while being pulled by a twisted rope of palm fiber put around her neck
With a twisted rope of palm-leaf fiber around her neck
around her neck is a rope of palm fiber.
on her neck a cord of palm fibres
A rope made from palm fibre around her neck
In her neck will be a rope made of plated date-tree fibers.
having on her neck a cord of twisted fibres of a palm-tree
On her own neck a cord of palm fibres
shall have a rope of palmfiber around her neck
On her neck a rope of palm fibre
In her neck (would be rolled) a twisted rope made of palm-fibre (which will help her drive to the site of Fire)
around her long neck is a rope of palm fibers.
[She will have] a rope of palm leaf fiber around her neck.
shall have a rope of palm-leaf fibre around her neck
upon her neck shall be a rope of palm-fibre
Upon her neck a halter of twisted rope
In her neck (there will be) a rope of palm-fibre .
A rope of twisted strands in her neck
Around her neck will be (the same) palm-fibre rope (she uses to bind the bunch of thorny twigs)
On her neck will be a rope of thorns
On her neck will be a rope of thorns
Within her collar, is a rope of thorns.
In her neck/beautiful neck (is a) rope from palm fiber tightly woven rope/an iron ring
[who bears] around her neck a rope of twisted strands
Upon her (long) neck she will have a rope of palm-fibers
Will have upon her neck a halter of palm-fibre
and so too will his wife who (threw thorns and firewood in the Prophet's way). Around her neck will be a rope of palm fibre
Around her neck, there is (a collar of iron, like) a well-twisted rope
Around her neck will be a rope of palm fiber.
Shall have a rope of palm fibers around her neck
Will have upon her neck a rope of palm fiber.
She shall be necklaced with a similar twisted rope to double her torment and augment her pain
she will have a rope of palm-fibre around her neck
around her neck will be a rope of palm-fibre.
Will have a rope of palm fibre around her neckline.
shall have a rope of fibre round her neck
She will be (resurrected) with a rope of thorns around her neck
Around her neck is a rope of palm fiber.
Around her neck is a rope of palm fiber.
Around her neckline is a rope of a palm-fiber.
shall have a rope of palm fibre rounder her neck
Will have her neck ornamented with a rope of palm-fiber. ((17:13). 'Jeed' = A neck decorated with an ornament)
Upon her neck a halter of strongly twisted rope
Round her neck shall be a halter of twisted palm-fibre
upon her neck is a rope of palm fiber
A twisted rope of palm-leaf fiber around her (own) neck
Around her neck is a rope of palm fiber.
Around her neck is a rope of thorns
a rope around her neck.
She will have a rope of rough palm leaves around her neck
Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber
In her neck a rope of palm fibres.
A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck
