1 Truth of Revelation

الۤرۚ تِلۡكَ ءَایَـٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ ٱلۡحَكِیمِ ۝١

M. Farook Malik

Alif L'am Ra. These are the verses of the Book of Wisdom

alif-lam-ra til'ka āyātu l-kitābi l-ḥakīm

أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنۡ أَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ رَجُلࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَنۡ أَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ قَدَمَ صِدۡقٍ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡۗ قَالَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝٢

M. Farook Malik

Does it seem strange to the people that We revealed Our will to a man from among themselves, saying: "Warn mankind and give the good news to the Believers that they are on sound footing with their Lord?" The disbelievers say: "This man is indeed an obvious magician!"

akāna lilnnāsi ʿajaban an awḥaynā ilā rajulin min'hum an andhiri l-nāsa wabashiri alladhīna āmanū anna lahum qadama ṣid'qin ʿinda rabbihim qāla l-kāfirūna inna hādhā lasāḥirun mubīnu

إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِی سِتَّةِ أَیَّامࣲ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ یُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَۖ مَا مِن شَفِیعٍ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ إِذۡنِهِۦۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٣

M. Farook Malik

The fact is that your Lord is the same Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six days and is firmly established on the Throne of authority, and is directing the affairs of the universe. None can intercede for you, except the one who receives His permission. This is Allah your Lord, so worship Him: will you not receive admonition

inna rabbakumu l-lahu alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa fī sittati ayyāmin thumma is'tawā ʿalā l-ʿarshi yudabbiru l-amra mā min shafīʿin illā min baʿdi idh'nihi dhālikumu l-lahu rabbukum fa-uʿ'budūhu afalā tadhakkarūn

إِلَیۡهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ جَمِیعࣰاۖ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقًّاۚ إِنَّهُۥ یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥ لِیَجۡزِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِۚ وَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَهُمۡ شَرَابࣱ مِّنۡ حَمِیمࣲ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِیمُۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٤

M. Farook Malik

To Him you shall all return. Allah’s promise is true. He is the One Who originates the process of Creation and repeats it (will bring it back to life) so that He may justly reward those who believed in Him and did righteous deeds. As for those who disbelieved, they shall have boiling fluids to drink and shall undergo a painful punishment because they rejected the truth

ilayhi marjiʿukum jamīʿan waʿda l-lahi ḥaqqan innahu yabda-u l-khalqa thumma yuʿīduhu liyajziya alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti bil-qis'ṭi wa-alladhīna kafarū lahum sharābun min ḥamīmin waʿadhābun alīmun bimā kānū yakfurūn

هُوَ ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ ضِیَاۤءࣰ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ نُورࣰا وَقَدَّرَهُۥ مَنَازِلَ لِتَعۡلَمُوا۟ عَدَدَ ٱلسِّنِینَ وَٱلۡحِسَابَۚ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ذَ ٰلِكَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ یُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٥

M. Farook Malik

He is the One Who gave the sun its brightness and the moon its light, established her phases that you may learn to compute the years and other such counts (days, weeks, months). Allah created them only to manifest the truth. He has spelled out His revelations for people who want to understand

huwa alladhī jaʿala l-shamsa ḍiyāan wal-qamara nūran waqaddarahu manāzila litaʿlamū ʿadada l-sinīna wal-ḥisāba mā khalaqa l-lahu dhālika illā bil-ḥaqi yufaṣṣilu l-āyāti liqawmin yaʿlamūn

إِنَّ فِی ٱخۡتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَتَّقُونَ ۝٦

M. Farook Malik

Indeed in the alternation of the night and the day and what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth, there are signs for those who are Godfearing

inna fī ikh'tilāfi al-layli wal-nahāri wamā khalaqa l-lahu fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi laāyātin liqawmin yattaqūn

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ لِقَاۤءَنَا وَرَضُوا۟ بِٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَٱطۡمَأَنُّوا۟ بِهَا وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ عَنۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا غَـٰفِلُونَ ۝٧

M. Farook Malik

As for those who do not hope to meet Us on the Day of Judgement, being well pleased and satisfied with this worldly life and those who give no heed to Our revelations

inna alladhīna lā yarjūna liqāanā waraḍū bil-ḥayati l-dun'yā wa-iṭ'ma-annū bihā wa-alladhīna hum ʿan āyātinā ghāfilūn

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٨

M. Farook Malik

they shall have the Fire as their abode because of what they had earned (erroneous creed and wrong conduct)

ulāika mawāhumu l-nāru bimā kānū yaksibūn

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ یَهۡدِیهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِإِیمَـٰنِهِمۡۖ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهِمُ ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ فِی جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝٩

M. Farook Malik

It is also a fact that those who believe sincerely in the truth which is revealed in this Book and do good deeds, their Lord will guide them because of their faith and rivers will flow beneath their feet in the gardens of bliss

inna alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti yahdīhim rabbuhum biīmānihim tajrī min taḥtihimu l-anhāru fī jannāti l-naʿīm

دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ فِیهَا سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَتَحِیَّتُهُمۡ فِیهَا سَلَـٰمࣱۚ وَءَاخِرُ دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ أَنِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٠

M. Farook Malik

Their slogan therein will be: "Glory to You O Allah!" And their greetings therein will be "Peace be upon you!" And their closing remarks will be: "All praises are for Allah Alone, the Lord of the Worlds!"

daʿwāhum fīhā sub'ḥānaka l-lahuma wataḥiyyatuhum fīhā salāmun waākhiru daʿwāhum ani l-ḥamdu lillahi rabbi l-ʿālamīn

2 Punishment of Rejection

۞ وَلَوۡ یُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسۡتِعۡجَالَهُم بِٱلۡخَیۡرِ لَقُضِیَ إِلَیۡهِمۡ أَجَلُهُمۡۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ لِقَاۤءَنَا فِی طُغۡیَـٰنِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝١١

M. Farook Malik

If Allah were to hasten the punishment for their evil as they hasten in asking good of this world, then the respite given to the people would have been terminated, but this is not Our way. We leave those people alone who do not entertain the hope of meeting Us, to blunder about in their rebellion

walaw yuʿajjilu l-lahu lilnnāsi l-shara is'tiʿ'jālahum bil-khayri laquḍiya ilayhim ajaluhum fanadharu alladhīna lā yarjūna liqāanā fī ṭugh'yānihim yaʿmahūn

وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦۤ أَوۡ قَاعِدًا أَوۡ قَاۤىِٕمࣰا فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمۡ یَدۡعُنَاۤ إِلَىٰ ضُرࣲّ مَّسَّهُۥۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ زُیِّنَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٢

M. Farook Malik

Whenever affliction touches a man, he prays to Us, whether lying down on his side, sitting, or standing on his feet. But as soon as We relieve his affliction he walks away as if he had never prayed to Us for removing that affliction which touched him! Thus the foul deeds which they do are made fair-seeming to the transgressors

wa-idhā massa l-insāna l-ḍuru daʿānā lijanbihi aw qāʿidan aw qāiman falammā kashafnā ʿanhu ḍurrahu marra ka-an lam yadʿunā ilā ḍurrin massahu kadhālika zuyyina lil'mus'rifīna mā kānū yaʿmalūn

وَلَقَدۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا ٱلۡقُرُونَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَمَّا ظَلَمُوا۟ وَجَاۤءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِیُؤۡمِنُوا۟ۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝١٣

M. Farook Malik

We have destroyed generations before your time when they adopted unjust attitudes: their Messengers came to them with clear signs but they would not believe! Thus, do We requite the criminals

walaqad ahlaknā l-qurūna min qablikum lammā ẓalamū wajāathum rusuluhum bil-bayināti wamā kānū liyu'minū kadhālika najzī l-qawma l-muj'rimīn

ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَـٰكُمۡ خَلَـٰۤىِٕفَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ لِنَنظُرَ كَیۡفَ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٤

M. Farook Malik

Then, We made you their successors in the land so that We may observe how you would conduct yourselves

thumma jaʿalnākum khalāifa fī l-arḍi min baʿdihim linanẓura kayfa taʿmalūn

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَاتُنَا بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ لِقَاۤءَنَا ٱئۡتِ بِقُرۡءَانٍ غَیۡرِ هَـٰذَاۤ أَوۡ بَدِّلۡهُۚ قُلۡ مَا یَكُونُ لِیۤ أَنۡ أُبَدِّلَهُۥ مِن تِلۡقَاۤىِٕ نَفۡسِیۤۖ إِنۡ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیَّۖ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ إِنۡ عَصَیۡتُ رَبِّی عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٥

M. Farook Malik

When Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who entertain no hope of meeting Us say to you: "Bring us a Qur’an different than this or make some changes in it." O Muhammad, tell them: "It is not possible for me to change it myself. I follow only what is revealed to me. Indeed, I cannot disobey my Lord, for I fear the punishment of a Mighty Day."

wa-idhā tut'lā ʿalayhim āyātunā bayyinātin qāla alladhīna lā yarjūna liqāanā i'ti biqur'ānin ghayri hādhā aw baddil'hu qul mā yakūnu lī an ubaddilahu min til'qāi nafsī in attabiʿu illā mā yūḥā ilayya innī akhāfu in ʿaṣaytu rabbī ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmi

قُل لَّوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَلَوۡتُهُۥ عَلَیۡكُمۡ وَلَاۤ أَدۡرَىٰكُم بِهِۦۖ فَقَدۡ لَبِثۡتُ فِیكُمۡ عُمُرࣰا مِّن قَبۡلِهِۦۤۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٦

M. Farook Malik

Say: "If Allah wanted otherwise, I would have not recited this (Qur’an) to you, nor would have made you aware of it. Indeed, a whole lifetime I lived among you before its revelation. Why do you not use your common-sense?"

qul law shāa l-lahu mā talawtuhu ʿalaykum walā adrākum bihi faqad labith'tu fīkum ʿumuran min qablihi afalā taʿqilūn

فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوۡ كَذَّبَ بِءَایَـٰتِهِۦۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝١٧

M. Farook Malik

Who can be more unjust than the one who himself forges a lie, then ascribes it to Allah or falsifies His real Revelations? Indeed, such criminals can never prosper

faman aẓlamu mimmani if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban aw kadhaba biāyātihi innahu lā yuf'liḥu l-muj'rimūn

وَیَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَضُرُّهُمۡ وَلَا یَنفَعُهُمۡ وَیَقُولُونَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ شُفَعَـٰۤؤُنَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَتُنَبِّءُونَ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا لَا یَعۡلَمُ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَلَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١٨

M. Farook Malik

They worship other deities besides Allah, who can neither harm them nor benefit them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with Allah." O Muhammad, say to them: "Are you informing Allah of what He knows to exist neither in the heavens nor on the earth? Glory to Him! He is far above from having the partners they ascribe to Him!"

wayaʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi mā lā yaḍurruhum walā yanfaʿuhum wayaqūlūna hāulāi shufaʿāunā ʿinda l-lahi qul atunabbiūna l-laha bimā lā yaʿlamu fī l-samāwāti walā fī l-arḍi sub'ḥānahu wataʿālā ʿammā yush'rikūn

وَمَا كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ إِلَّاۤ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ فَٱخۡتَلَفُوا۟ۚ وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةࣱ سَبَقَتۡ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِیَ بَیۡنَهُمۡ فِیمَا فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝١٩

M. Farook Malik

Mankind was once just one nation; later on they became divided through inventing different creeds. If your Lord had not already given His word ( specified time for the life of mankind on Earth), the matters in which they differ would have certainly been decided

wamā kāna l-nāsu illā ummatan wāḥidatan fa-ikh'talafū walawlā kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika laquḍiya baynahum fīmā fīhi yakhtalifūn

وَیَقُولُونَ لَوۡلَاۤ أُنزِلَ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۖ فَقُلۡ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡغَیۡبُ لِلَّهِ فَٱنتَظِرُوۤا۟ إِنِّی مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُنتَظِرِینَ ۝٢٠

M. Farook Malik

In regards to their saying: "Why has not a sign been sent down to him (Muhammad) from his Lord?" Tell them: " Allah Alone has the knowledge of the unseen. Wait if you will: I too shall wait with you."

wayaqūlūna lawlā unzila ʿalayhi āyatun min rabbihi faqul innamā l-ghaybu lillahi fa-intaẓirū innī maʿakum mina l-muntaẓirīn

3 Merciful Dealing

وَإِذَاۤ أَذَقۡنَا ٱلنَّاسَ رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ ضَرَّاۤءَ مَسَّتۡهُمۡ إِذَا لَهُم مَّكۡرࣱ فِیۤ ءَایَاتِنَاۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ أَسۡرَعُ مَكۡرًاۚ إِنَّ رُسُلَنَا یَكۡتُبُونَ مَا تَمۡكُرُونَ ۝٢١

M. Farook Malik

When We show mercy to mankind after some calamity had afflicted them, they begin to plot against Our revelations! Tell them: "Allah is more swift in plotting than you; indeed Our angels are recording all the plots you make."

wa-idhā adhaqnā l-nāsa raḥmatan min baʿdi ḍarrāa massathum idhā lahum makrun fī āyātinā quli l-lahu asraʿu makran inna rusulanā yaktubūna mā tamkurūn

هُوَ ٱلَّذِی یُسَیِّرُكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِۖ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا كُنتُمۡ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ وَجَرَیۡنَ بِهِم بِرِیحࣲ طَیِّبَةࣲ وَفَرِحُوا۟ بِهَا جَاۤءَتۡهَا رِیحٌ عَاصِفࣱ وَجَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانࣲ وَظَنُّوۤا۟ أَنَّهُمۡ أُحِیطَ بِهِمۡ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِینَ لَهُ ٱلدِّینَ لَىِٕنۡ أَنجَیۡتَنَا مِنۡ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِینَ ۝٢٢

M. Farook Malik

He is the One Who enables you to travel through the land and by the sea; until when you are on board a ship, as the ship sails with a favorable wind and they feel happy about it; but when there comes a stormy wind and the waves reach them from all sides and they think they are being overwhelmed: then they pray to Allah with their sincere devotion, saying, "If You deliver us from this, we shall become your true thankful devotees!"

huwa alladhī yusayyirukum fī l-bari wal-baḥri ḥattā idhā kuntum fī l-ful'ki wajarayna bihim birīḥin ṭayyibatin wafariḥū bihā jāathā rīḥun ʿāṣifun wajāahumu l-mawju min kulli makānin waẓannū annahum uḥīṭa bihim daʿawū l-laha mukh'liṣīna lahu l-dīna la-in anjaytanā min hādhihi lanakūnanna mina l-shākirīn

فَلَمَّاۤ أَنجَىٰهُمۡ إِذَا هُمۡ یَبۡغُونَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَیۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّۗ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّمَا بَغۡیُكُمۡ عَلَىٰۤ أَنفُسِكُمۖ مَّتَـٰعَ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۖ ثُمَّ إِلَیۡنَا مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَنُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٣

M. Farook Malik

Yet, when He does deliver them, behold! The same people become unjustly rebellious in the land. O mankind! Your rebellion is against your own souls ( you may enjoy) the transitory pleasure of this world - in the end you have to return to Us, then We shall inform you of what you have done

falammā anjāhum idhā hum yabghūna fī l-arḍi bighayri l-ḥaqi yāayyuhā l-nāsu innamā baghyukum ʿalā anfusikum matāʿa l-ḥayati l-dun'yā thumma ilaynā marjiʿukum fanunabbi-ukum bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا كَمَاۤءٍ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَٱخۡتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِمَّا یَأۡكُلُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمُ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَاۤ أَخَذَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ زُخۡرُفَهَا وَٱزَّیَّنَتۡ وَظَنَّ أَهۡلُهَاۤ أَنَّهُمۡ قَـٰدِرُونَ عَلَیۡهَاۤ أَتَىٰهَاۤ أَمۡرُنَا لَیۡلًا أَوۡ نَهَارࣰا فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهَا حَصِیدࣰا كَأَن لَّمۡ تَغۡنَ بِٱلۡأَمۡسِۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَتَفَكَّرُونَ ۝٢٤

M. Farook Malik

The example of this worldly life (which you love so much that you have even become neglectful of Our signs) is like the water which We send down from the sky; it mingles with the soil and produces vegetation which becomes the food for men and animals. Then, at the very time when the crops are ripened and the land looks attractive, the people to whom it belongs think that they are able to cultivate it, and there comes Our scourge upon it, by night or in broad day, and We mow it down thoroughly as if nothing existed there yesterday! Thus do We spell out Our signs for those who are thoughtful

innamā mathalu l-ḥayati l-dun'yā kamāin anzalnāhu mina l-samāi fa-ikh'talaṭa bihi nabātu l-arḍi mimmā yakulu l-nāsu wal-anʿāmu ḥattā idhā akhadhati l-arḍu zukh'rufahā wa-izzayyanat waẓanna ahluhā annahum qādirūna ʿalayhā atāhā amrunā laylan aw nahāran fajaʿalnāhā ḥaṣīdan ka-an lam taghna bil-amsi kadhālika nufaṣṣilu l-āyāti liqawmin yatafakkarūn

وَٱللَّهُ یَدۡعُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ دَارِ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ وَیَهۡدِی مَن یَشَاۤءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٢٥

M. Farook Malik

Allah invites you to the Home of Peace and guides whom He pleases to the Right Way

wal-lahu yadʿū ilā dāri l-salāmi wayahdī man yashāu ilā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi

۞ لِّلَّذِینَ أَحۡسَنُوا۟ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ وَزِیَادَةࣱۖ وَلَا یَرۡهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمۡ قَتَرࣱ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡجَنَّةِۖ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٢٦

M. Farook Malik

Those who do good deeds shall have a good reward and even more than they deserve! Neither blackness nor disgrace shall cover their faces. They will be the inhabitants of paradise; they will live therein forever

lilladhīna aḥsanū l-ḥus'nā waziyādatun walā yarhaqu wujūhahum qatarun walā dhillatun ulāika aṣḥābu l-janati hum fīhā khālidūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ كَسَبُوا۟ ٱلسَّیِّءَاتِ جَزَاۤءُ سَیِّئَةِۭ بِمِثۡلِهَا وَتَرۡهَقُهُمۡ ذِلَّةࣱۖ مَّا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۡ عَاصِمࣲۖ كَأَنَّمَاۤ أُغۡشِیَتۡ وُجُوهُهُمۡ قِطَعࣰا مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ مُظۡلِمًاۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٢٧

M. Farook Malik

As for those who have done evil deeds, they will be rewarded with like evil: disgrace will cover them - they shall have none to protect them from Allah - as if their faces have been covered with patches of the dense darkness of night. They will become the inmates of the Fire; they will live therein forever

wa-alladhīna kasabū l-sayiāti jazāu sayyi-atin bimith'lihā watarhaquhum dhillatun mā lahum mina l-lahi min ʿāṣimin ka-annamā ugh'shiyat wujūhuhum qiṭaʿan mina al-layli muẓ'liman ulāika aṣḥābu l-nāri hum fīhā khālidūn

وَیَوۡمَ نَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِیعࣰا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ مَكَانَكُمۡ أَنتُمۡ وَشُرَكَاۤؤُكُمۡۚ فَزَیَّلۡنَا بَیۡنَهُمۡۖ وَقَالَ شُرَكَاۤؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ إِیَّانَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٢٨

M. Farook Malik

On the Day when We shall gather them all together, We shall say to those who committed shirk (associated other deities with Us): "Stay where you are, you and those whom you set as partners with Us." We will separate them from one another, then the shoraka' (partners they had set up with Us) will say: "It was not us that you worshipped

wayawma naḥshuruhum jamīʿan thumma naqūlu lilladhīna ashrakū makānakum antum washurakāukum fazayyalnā baynahum waqāla shurakāuhum mā kuntum iyyānā taʿbudūn

فَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِیدَۢا بَیۡنَنَا وَبَیۡنَكُمۡ إِن كُنَّا عَنۡ عِبَادَتِكُمۡ لَغَـٰفِلِینَ ۝٢٩

M. Farook Malik

Allah is an all-sufficient witness between you and us, (even if you worshipped us) we were quite unaware of your worship."

fakafā bil-lahi shahīdan baynanā wabaynakum in kunnā ʿan ʿibādatikum laghāfilīn

هُنَالِكَ تَبۡلُوا۟ كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ مَّاۤ أَسۡلَفَتۡۚ وَرُدُّوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَوۡلَىٰهُمُ ٱلۡحَقِّۖ وَضَلَّ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝٣٠

M. Farook Malik

Thereupon, every soul shall know what it had sent forth, as they will be brought in the Court of Allah, their true Patron, and their invented falsehoods will leave them in the lurch

hunālika tablū kullu nafsin mā aslafat waruddū ilā l-lahi mawlāhumu l-ḥaqi waḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūn

4 Uniqueness of Divine Gifts

قُلۡ مَن یَرۡزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَمَّن یَمۡلِكُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرَ وَمَن یُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡحَیَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَیِّتِ وَیُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡمَیِّتَ مِنَ ٱلۡحَیِّ وَمَن یُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَۚ فَسَیَقُولُونَ ٱللَّهُۚ فَقُلۡ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٣١

M. Farook Malik

Ask them: "Who provides your sustenance from the heaven and from the earth? Who has control over hearing and sight? Who brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living? Who regulates the universe?" They will soon reply: "Allah." Say: "Why do you not then fear Him for your going against the truth?"

qul man yarzuqukum mina l-samāi wal-arḍi amman yamliku l-samʿa wal-abṣāra waman yukh'riju l-ḥaya mina l-mayiti wayukh'riju l-mayita mina l-ḥayi waman yudabbiru l-amra fasayaqūlūna l-lahu faqul afalā tattaqūn

فَذَ ٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَاذَا بَعۡدَ ٱلۡحَقِّ إِلَّا ٱلضَّلَـٰلُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصۡرَفُونَ ۝٣٢

M. Farook Malik

The same Allah is your real Lord: What is left after the truth except falsehood? How then can you turn away

fadhālikumu l-lahu rabbukumu l-ḥaqu famādhā baʿda l-ḥaqi illā l-ḍalālu fa-annā tuṣ'rafūn

كَذَ ٰلِكَ حَقَّتۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ فَسَقُوۤا۟ أَنَّهُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٣٣

M. Farook Malik

Thus has the Word of your Lord proved true in regards to the transgressors that they do not believe

kadhālika ḥaqqat kalimatu rabbika ʿalā alladhīna fasaqū annahum lā yu'minūn

قُلۡ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَاۤىِٕكُم مَّن یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ ۝٣٤

M. Farook Malik

Ask them: "Can any of your shoraka' (the deities you worship besides Allah) create anything and then repeat its process?" If they do not answer, then tell them: "Well, Allah creates and then repeats the process. Then how is that you are so misled?"

qul hal min shurakāikum man yabda-u l-khalqa thumma yuʿīduhu quli l-lahu yabda-u l-khalqa thumma yuʿīduhu fa-annā tu'fakūn

قُلۡ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَاۤىِٕكُم مَّن یَهۡدِیۤ إِلَى ٱلۡحَقِّۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ یَهۡدِی لِلۡحَقِّۗ أَفَمَن یَهۡدِیۤ إِلَى ٱلۡحَقِّ أَحَقُّ أَن یُتَّبَعَ أَمَّن لَّا یَهِدِّیۤ إِلَّاۤ أَن یُهۡدَىٰۖ فَمَا لَكُمۡ كَیۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ ۝٣٥

M. Farook Malik

Again ask them: "Is there any of your shoraka' who can guide you to the truth?" If they do not answer, then tell them: "Well, Allah can guide you to the truth. Then who is more worthy to be followed: He that can guide to the truth, or he that cannot and is himself in need of guidance? What is the matter with you? What kind of judgement do you make?"

qul hal min shurakāikum man yahdī ilā l-ḥaqi quli l-lahu yahdī lil'ḥaqqi afaman yahdī ilā l-ḥaqi aḥaqqu an yuttabaʿa amman lā yahiddī illā an yuh'dā famā lakum kayfa taḥkumūn

وَمَا یَتَّبِعُ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ إِلَّا ظَنًّاۚ إِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا یُغۡنِی مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّ شَیۡءًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِیمُۢ بِمَا یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٣٦

M. Farook Malik

The fact is that most of them follow nothing but mere conjecture and conjecture is in no way a substitute for the truth. Surely Allah is well aware of all that they do

wamā yattabiʿu aktharuhum illā ẓannan inna l-ẓana lā yugh'nī mina l-ḥaqi shayan inna l-laha ʿalīmun bimā yafʿalūn

وَمَا كَانَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ أَن یُفۡتَرَىٰ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِن تَصۡدِیقَ ٱلَّذِی بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡهِ وَتَفۡصِیلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ لَا رَیۡبَ فِیهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٣٧

M. Farook Malik

This Qur’an is not such as could be produced by anyone other than Allah; in fact it is the confirmation of prior revelations (Psalms, Torah, and Gospel) and fully explains the Holy Book (prior scriptures); there is no doubt in this fact that it is (revealed) from the Lord of the Worlds

wamā kāna hādhā l-qur'ānu an yuf'tarā min dūni l-lahi walākin taṣdīqa alladhī bayna yadayhi watafṣīla l-kitābi lā rayba fīhi min rabbi l-ʿālamīn

أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ قُلۡ فَأۡتُوا۟ بِسُورَةࣲ مِّثۡلِهِۦ وَٱدۡعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٣٨

M. Farook Malik

Do they say: "He (the Prophet) has forged it?" Tell them: "If what you say be true; then produce one Surah like this, you may even call to your aid anyone you want other than Allah."

am yaqūlūna if'tarāhu qul fatū bisūratin mith'lihi wa-id'ʿū mani is'taṭaʿtum min dūni l-lahi in kuntum ṣādiqīn

بَلۡ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِمَا لَمۡ یُحِیطُوا۟ بِعِلۡمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا یَأۡتِهِمۡ تَأۡوِیلُهُۥۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٣٩

M. Farook Malik

Nay! They do not believe that which they cannot grasp, for they have not yet seen its prophecy fulfilled. The same way those who passed before them disbelieved. But see what was the end of the wrongdoers

bal kadhabū bimā lam yuḥīṭū biʿil'mihi walammā yatihim tawīluhu kadhālika kadhaba alladhīna min qablihim fa-unẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-ẓālimīn

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن یُؤۡمِنُ بِهِۦ وَمِنۡهُم مَّن لَّا یُؤۡمِنُ بِهِۦۚ وَرَبُّكَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٤٠

M. Farook Malik

Of these people there are some who will believe in it and some will not: and your Lord best knows the troublemakers

wamin'hum man yu'minu bihi wamin'hum man lā yu'minu bihi warabbuka aʿlamu bil-muf'sidīn

5 Reprobates' Punishment

وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّی عَمَلِی وَلَكُمۡ عَمَلُكُمۡۖ أَنتُم بَرِیۤءُونَ مِمَّاۤ أَعۡمَلُ وَأَنَا۠ بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٤١

M. Farook Malik

If they do not believe you, say: "I am responsible for my actions and you are for yours! You are not accountable for my actions, nor I am responsible for what you do."

wa-in kadhabūka faqul lī ʿamalī walakum ʿamalukum antum barīūna mimmā aʿmalu wa-anā barīon mimmā taʿmalūn

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن یَسۡتَمِعُونَ إِلَیۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُسۡمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ وَلَوۡ كَانُوا۟ لَا یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٤٢

M. Farook Malik

There are some among them who pretend to hear what you say: but can you make the deaf listen to you, incapable as they are of understanding

wamin'hum man yastamiʿūna ilayka afa-anta tus'miʿu l-ṣuma walaw kānū lā yaʿqilūn

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن یَنظُرُ إِلَیۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تَهۡدِی ٱلۡعُمۡیَ وَلَوۡ كَانُوا۟ لَا یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٤٣

M. Farook Malik

Then there are some among them who pretend to look at you: but can you show the way to the blind, bereft as they are of sight

wamin'hum man yanẓuru ilayka afa-anta tahdī l-ʿum'ya walaw kānū lā yub'ṣirūn

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یَظۡلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمۡ یَظۡلِمُونَ ۝٤٤

M. Farook Malik

The fact is that Allah does not do injustice to mankind in any way: but men are unjust to their own souls

inna l-laha lā yaẓlimu l-nāsa shayan walākinna l-nāsa anfusahum yaẓlimūn

وَیَوۡمَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡ كَأَن لَّمۡ یَلۡبَثُوۤا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةࣰ مِّنَ ٱلنَّهَارِ یَتَعَارَفُونَ بَیۡنَهُمۡۚ قَدۡ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَاۤءِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهۡتَدِینَ ۝٤٥

M. Farook Malik

On that Day when He will gather them all together, it will appear to them as if they had not stayed in this world but an hour of a day to get to know each other. At that time they will realize that: in fact the losers are those who denied the meeting with Allah and were not rightly guided

wayawma yaḥshuruhum ka-an lam yalbathū illā sāʿatan mina l-nahāri yataʿārafūna baynahum qad khasira alladhīna kadhabū biliqāi l-lahi wamā kānū muh'tadīn

وَإِمَّا نُرِیَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِی نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّیَنَّكَ فَإِلَیۡنَا مَرۡجِعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ شَهِیدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٤٦

M. Farook Malik

Whether We show you in your lifetime some consequences of what We have promised them, or cause you to die before that, in any case they will have to return to Us: moreover Allah is watching all their actions

wa-immā nuriyannaka baʿḍa alladhī naʿiduhum aw natawaffayannaka fa-ilaynā marjiʿuhum thumma l-lahu shahīdun ʿalā mā yafʿalūn

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةࣲ رَّسُولࣱۖ فَإِذَا جَاۤءَ رَسُولُهُمۡ قُضِیَ بَیۡنَهُم بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝٤٧

M. Farook Malik

Every nation was sent a Messenger. Once their Messenger came, judgement was passed between them with all fairness and they were not wronged in the least

walikulli ummatin rasūlun fa-idhā jāa rasūluhum quḍiya baynahum bil-qis'ṭi wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn

وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٤٨

M. Farook Malik

They ask: "When will this promise be fulfilled, tell us if what you say be true?"

wayaqūlūna matā hādhā l-waʿdu in kuntum ṣādiqīn

قُل لَّاۤ أَمۡلِكُ لِنَفۡسِی ضَرࣰّا وَلَا نَفۡعًا إِلَّا مَا شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُۗ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌۚ إِذَا جَاۤءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ فَلَا یَسۡتَءۡخِرُونَ سَاعَةࣰ وَلَا یَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ ۝٤٩

M. Farook Malik

Say: "I have no control over any harm or benefit to myself, except what Allah wills. For every nation there is a deadline: when their deadline comes, it can neither be delayed for even a moment, nor it can be advanced

qul lā amliku linafsī ḍarran walā nafʿan illā mā shāa l-lahu likulli ummatin ajalun idhā jāa ajaluhum falā yastakhirūna sāʿatan walā yastaqdimūn

قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتُمۡ إِنۡ أَتَىٰكُمۡ عَذَابُهُۥ بَیَـٰتًا أَوۡ نَهَارࣰا مَّاذَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُ مِنۡهُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٥٠

M. Farook Malik

Say: "Have you ever considered that if His scourge fall upon you by night or by day you can do nothing to avert it? What then is there that the criminals wish to hasten

qul ara-aytum in atākum ʿadhābuhu bayātan aw nahāran mādhā yastaʿjilu min'hu l-muj'rimūn

أَثُمَّ إِذَا مَا وَقَعَ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦۤۚ ءَاۤلۡءَـٰنَ وَقَدۡ كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝٥١

M. Farook Malik

Would you believe it when it actually overtakes you? Then you would beg it to be removed although it had been your own wish to hurry it on."

athumma idhā mā waqaʿa āmantum bihi āl'āna waqad kuntum bihi tastaʿjilūn

ثُمَّ قِیلَ لِلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ هَلۡ تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٥٢

M. Farook Malik

Then it will be said to the wrongdoers: "Taste the everlasting punishment! Should you not be rewarded according to your deeds?"

thumma qīla lilladhīna ẓalamū dhūqū ʿadhāba l-khul'di hal tuj'zawna illā bimā kuntum taksibūn

۞ وَیَسۡتَنۢبِءُونَكَ أَحَقٌّ هُوَۖ قُلۡ إِی وَرَبِّیۤ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقࣱّۖ وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝٥٣

M. Farook Malik

They ask you: "Is what you say really true?" Tell them: "Yes! By my Lord, it is absolutely true! And you will not be able to avert it."

wayastanbiūnaka aḥaqqun huwa qul ī warabbī innahu laḥaqqun wamā antum bimuʿ'jizīn

6 Mercy takes Precedence of Punishment

وَلَوۡ أَنَّ لِكُلِّ نَفۡسࣲ ظَلَمَتۡ مَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَٱفۡتَدَتۡ بِهِۦۗ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَۖ وَقُضِیَ بَیۡنَهُم بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝٥٤

M. Farook Malik

If every person that has done injustice possessed all that the earth contains, he would be willing to offer it all in ransom to redeem himself if he could. They will regret in their hearts when they see the punishment of Hell. The decision between them will be made with justice and no wrong will be done to them

walaw anna likulli nafsin ẓalamat mā fī l-arḍi la-if'tadat bihi wa-asarrū l-nadāmata lammā ra-awū l-ʿadhāba waquḍiya baynahum bil-qis'ṭi wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn

أَلَاۤ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَلَاۤ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقࣱّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٥٥

M. Farook Malik

Be aware! All that is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. Be aware! The promise of Allah is true, yet most of them do not know

alā inna lillahi mā fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi alā inna waʿda l-lahi ḥaqqun walākinna aktharahum lā yaʿlamūn

هُوَ یُحۡیِۦ وَیُمِیتُ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٥٦

M. Farook Malik

He is the One Who gives life and causes death, and to Him you shall all return

huwa yuḥ'yī wayumītu wa-ilayhi tur'jaʿūn

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَاۤءَتۡكُم مَّوۡعِظَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَشِفَاۤءࣱ لِّمَا فِی ٱلصُّدُورِ وَهُدࣰى وَرَحۡمَةࣱ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥٧

M. Farook Malik

O mankind! There has come to you an instruction from your Lord, a cure for whatever (disease) is in your hearts, a guidance and a blessing for the true believers

yāayyuhā l-nāsu qad jāatkum mawʿiẓatun min rabbikum washifāon limā fī l-ṣudūri wahudan waraḥmatun lil'mu'minīn

قُلۡ بِفَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ وَبِرَحۡمَتِهِۦ فَبِذَ ٰلِكَ فَلۡیَفۡرَحُوا۟ هُوَ خَیۡرࣱ مِّمَّا یَجۡمَعُونَ ۝٥٨

M. Farook Malik

Say: "It is the grace and mercy of Allah (that He has sent this Qur’an), so let the people rejoice over it, for it is better than (the worldly riches) they are collecting."

qul bifaḍli l-lahi wabiraḥmatihi fabidhālika falyafraḥū huwa khayrun mimmā yajmaʿūn

قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتُم مَّاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُم مِّن رِّزۡقࣲ فَجَعَلۡتُم مِّنۡهُ حَرَامࣰا وَحَلَـٰلࣰا قُلۡ ءَاۤللَّهُ أَذِنَ لَكُمۡۖ أَمۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَفۡتَرُونَ ۝٥٩

M. Farook Malik

O Prophet, ask them: "Have you ever considered that out of the sustenance which Allah has given you, you yourselves have made some things Halal (lawful) and others Haram (unlawful)? Ask them: "Did Allah permit you to do so, or do you ascribe a false thing to Allah?"

qul ara-aytum mā anzala l-lahu lakum min riz'qin fajaʿaltum min'hu ḥarāman waḥalālan qul āllahu adhina lakum am ʿalā l-lahi taftarūn

وَمَا ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا یَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٦٠

M. Farook Malik

What treatment do they think those people will get, who ascribe false things to Allah, on the Day of Resurrection? Indeed Allah is full of grace to mankind, but most of them are not grateful

wamā ẓannu alladhīna yaftarūna ʿalā l-lahi l-kadhiba yawma l-qiyāmati inna l-laha ladhū faḍlin ʿalā l-nāsi walākinna aktharahum lā yashkurūn

7 Good News for Faithful

وَمَا تَكُونُ فِی شَأۡنࣲ وَمَا تَتۡلُوا۟ مِنۡهُ مِن قُرۡءَانࣲ وَلَا تَعۡمَلُونَ مِنۡ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا كُنَّا عَلَیۡكُمۡ شُهُودًا إِذۡ تُفِیضُونَ فِیهِۚ وَمَا یَعۡزُبُ عَن رَّبِّكَ مِن مِّثۡقَالِ ذَرَّةࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَلَاۤ أَصۡغَرَ مِن ذَ ٰلِكَ وَلَاۤ أَكۡبَرَ إِلَّا فِی كِتَـٰبࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٦١

M. Farook Malik

No matter what affairs you may be engaged in, what portion from the Qur’an you may be reciting and whatever deeds you may be doing, We are a Witnesses thereof when you are deeply occupied with it: for there is not even an iota of anything in the earth or in the heaven that is hidden from your Lord, neither anything smaller than that nor larger, but is recorded in a Glorious Book

wamā takūnu fī shanin wamā tatlū min'hu min qur'ānin walā taʿmalūna min ʿamalin illā kunnā ʿalaykum shuhūdan idh tufīḍūna fīhi wamā yaʿzubu ʿan rabbika min mith'qāli dharratin fī l-arḍi walā fī l-samāi walā aṣghara min dhālika walā akbara illā fī kitābin mubīni

أَلَاۤ إِنَّ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یَحۡزَنُونَ ۝٦٢

M. Farook Malik

Be aware! The friend of Allah has nothing to fear or to regret

alā inna awliyāa l-lahi lā khawfun ʿalayhim walā hum yaḥzanūn

ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ یَتَّقُونَ ۝٦٣

M. Farook Malik

Those who believe and (constantly) guard against evil

alladhīna āmanū wakānū yattaqūn

لَهُمُ ٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَفِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِۚ لَا تَبۡدِیلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝٦٤

M. Farook Malik

for them there is good news in this life and in the hereafter - Allah’s Words do not change - this is indeed the mighty achievement

lahumu l-bush'rā fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā wafī l-ākhirati lā tabdīla likalimāti l-lahi dhālika huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīm

وَلَا یَحۡزُنكَ قَوۡلُهُمۡۘ إِنَّ ٱلۡعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِیعًاۚ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٦٥

M. Farook Malik

O Prophet, let not their remarks grieve you: surely all honor belongs to Allah: He hears all and knows all

walā yaḥzunka qawluhum inna l-ʿizata lillahi jamīʿan huwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

أَلَاۤ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَن فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَمَا یَتَّبِعُ ٱلَّذِینَ یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ شُرَكَاۤءَۚ إِن یَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا یَخۡرُصُونَ ۝٦٦

M. Farook Malik

Be aware! Indeed whatever is in the Heavens and in the Earth belongs to Allah. Those who invoke other deities besides Allah follow nothing but conjectures and preach nothing but falsehood

alā inna lillahi man fī l-samāwāti waman fī l-arḍi wamā yattabiʿu alladhīna yadʿūna min dūni l-lahi shurakāa in yattabiʿūna illā l-ẓana wa-in hum illā yakhruṣūn

هُوَ ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّیۡلَ لِتَسۡكُنُوا۟ فِیهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبۡصِرًاۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَسۡمَعُونَ ۝٦٧

M. Farook Malik

He is the One Who has made the night for you to rest therein and the day so that you can see. Indeed, there are signs in this for those who listen to His message

huwa alladhī jaʿala lakumu al-layla litaskunū fīhi wal-nahāra mub'ṣiran inna fī dhālika laāyātin liqawmin yasmaʿūn

قَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدࣰاۗ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥۖ هُوَ ٱلۡغَنِیُّۖ لَهُۥ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ إِنۡ عِندَكُم مِّن سُلۡطَـٰنِۭ بِهَـٰذَاۤۚ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٦٨

M. Farook Malik

They (Jews and Christians) say: "Allah has begotten a son!" Glory be to Him! He is self-sufficient! His is all that is in the Heavens and in the Earth! Have you any proof for what you say? Would you ascribe to Allah something about which you have no knowledge

qālū ittakhadha l-lahu waladan sub'ḥānahu huwa l-ghaniyu lahu mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi in ʿindakum min sul'ṭānin bihādhā ataqūlūna ʿalā l-lahi mā lā taʿlamūn

قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ لَا یُفۡلِحُونَ ۝٦٩

M. Farook Malik

O Prophet, tell them: "Those who ascribe false things to Allah will never prosper."

qul inna alladhīna yaftarūna ʿalā l-lahi l-kadhiba lā yuf'liḥūn

مَتَـٰعࣱ فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَا ثُمَّ إِلَیۡنَا مَرۡجِعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ نُذِیقُهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلشَّدِیدَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٧٠

M. Farook Malik

Well, they may have a little enjoyment in this world, but eventually they have to return to Us and then We will make them taste the severest punishment for their unbelief

matāʿun fī l-dun'yā thumma ilaynā marjiʿuhum thumma nudhīquhumu l-ʿadhāba l-shadīda bimā kānū yakfurūn

8 Noah and Moses

۞ وَٱتۡلُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ نُوحٍ إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦ یَـٰقَوۡمِ إِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَیۡكُم مَّقَامِی وَتَذۡكِیرِی بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُ فَأَجۡمِعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَكُمۡ وَشُرَكَاۤءَكُمۡ ثُمَّ لَا یَكُنۡ أَمۡرُكُمۡ عَلَیۡكُمۡ غُمَّةࣰ ثُمَّ ٱقۡضُوۤا۟ إِلَیَّ وَلَا تُنظِرُونِ ۝٧١

M. Farook Malik

Quote to them the story of Noah when he said to his people: "O my people! If it offends you that I should live among you and preach to you the revelations of Allah, then you should know that I have put my trust in Allah. Go ahead and muster all your shoraka' (deities you worship) and come up with your united decision. Plan it well so that you may not have any doubt about its being foolproof. Then execute it against me and give me no respite

wa-ut'lu ʿalayhim naba-a nūḥin idh qāla liqawmihi yāqawmi in kāna kabura ʿalaykum maqāmī watadhkīrī biāyāti l-lahi faʿalā l-lahi tawakkaltu fa-ajmiʿū amrakum washurakāakum thumma lā yakun amrukum ʿalaykum ghummatan thumma iq'ḍū ilayya walā tunẓirūn

فَإِن تَوَلَّیۡتُمۡ فَمَا سَأَلۡتُكُم مِّنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٧٢

M. Farook Malik

If you have turned away from my message, I did not lose any thing, for I did not ask any reward from you for my services: my reward is only with Allah, I have been commanded to become a Muslim."

fa-in tawallaytum famā sa-altukum min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā l-lahi wa-umir'tu an akūna mina l-mus'limīn

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ خَلَـٰۤىِٕفَ وَأَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝٧٣

M. Farook Malik

But they disbelieved him. As a result, We saved him and those of them who were with him in the Ark and We made them successors in the Earth and drowned those who rejected Our revelations. You see what was the end of those who were warned but did not believe

fakadhabūhu fanajjaynāhu waman maʿahu fī l-ful'ki wajaʿalnāhum khalāifa wa-aghraqnā alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā fa-unẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mundharīn

ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ رُسُلًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِمۡ فَجَاۤءُوهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ فَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِیُؤۡمِنُوا۟ بِمَا كَذَّبُوا۟ بِهِۦ مِن قَبۡلُۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَطۡبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُعۡتَدِینَ ۝٧٤

M. Farook Malik

Then after him We sent Messengers to their descendants. They came to them with clear signs but they would not believe what they had rejected before. Thus, do We set seals upon the hearts of those who (intentionally) exceed the limits

thumma baʿathnā min baʿdihi rusulan ilā qawmihim fajāūhum bil-bayināti famā kānū liyu'minū bimā kadhabū bihi min qablu kadhālika naṭbaʿu ʿalā qulūbi l-muʿ'tadīn

ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِم مُّوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِۦ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوۡمࣰا مُّجۡرِمِینَ ۝٧٥

M. Farook Malik

Then later on We sent Moses and Haroon (Aaron) to Pharoah (Pharaoh) and his chiefs with Our signs. But they showed arrogance, for they were a guilty nation

thumma baʿathnā min baʿdihim mūsā wahārūna ilā fir'ʿawna wamala-ihi biāyātinā fa-is'takbarū wakānū qawman muj'rimīn

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٧٦

M. Farook Malik

When the truth did come to them from Us they said: "This is indeed sheer magic!"

falammā jāahumu l-ḥaqu min ʿindinā qālū inna hādhā lasiḥ'run mubīnu

قَالَ مُوسَىٰۤ أَتَقُولُونَ لِلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاۤءَكُمۡۖ أَسِحۡرٌ هَـٰذَا وَلَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلسَّـٰحِرُونَ ۝٧٧

M. Farook Malik

Moses replied: "Is this what you say of the Truth when it has come to you? Is this a magic? Magicians do not prosper."

qāla mūsā ataqūlūna lil'ḥaqqi lammā jāakum asiḥ'run hādhā walā yuf'liḥu l-sāḥirūn

قَالُوۤا۟ أَجِئۡتَنَا لِتَلۡفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ ءَابَاۤءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا ٱلۡكِبۡرِیَاۤءُ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٧٨

M. Farook Malik

They said: "Have you come to turn us away from the faith of our forefathers in order that you two (Moses and Haroon) may become the leaders in the land? We will never believe in you!"

qālū aji'tanā litalfitanā ʿammā wajadnā ʿalayhi ābāanā watakūna lakumā l-kib'riyāu fī l-arḍi wamā naḥnu lakumā bimu'minīn

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ٱئۡتُونِی بِكُلِّ سَـٰحِرٍ عَلِیمࣲ ۝٧٩

M. Farook Malik

Pharoah said: "Bring me every skillful magician."

waqāla fir'ʿawnu i'tūnī bikulli sāḥirin ʿalīmi

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰۤ أَلۡقُوا۟ مَاۤ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَ ۝٨٠

M. Farook Malik

When the magicians came, Moses said to them: "Throw what you wish to throw!"

falammā jāa l-saḥaratu qāla lahum mūsā alqū mā antum mul'qūn

فَلَمَّاۤ أَلۡقَوۡا۟ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ مَا جِئۡتُم بِهِ ٱلسِّحۡرُۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَیُبۡطِلُهُۥۤ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یُصۡلِحُ عَمَلَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٨١

M. Farook Malik

So when they had thrown, Moses said: "The magic that you have brought, Allah will surely prove it wrong: for Allah does not promote the work of mischief makers

falammā alqaw qāla mūsā mā ji'tum bihi l-siḥ'ru inna l-laha sayub'ṭiluhu inna l-laha lā yuṣ'liḥu ʿamala l-muf'sidīn

وَیُحِقُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡحَقَّ بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٨٢

M. Farook Malik

By His Words Allah vindicates the truth, much as the criminals may dislike it!"

wayuḥiqqu l-lahu l-ḥaqa bikalimātihi walaw kariha l-muj'rimūn

9 End of Opposition to Moses

فَمَاۤ ءَامَنَ لِمُوسَىٰۤ إِلَّا ذُرِّیَّةࣱ مِّن قَوۡمِهِۦ عَلَىٰ خَوۡفࣲ مِّن فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِمۡ أَن یَفۡتِنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّ فِرۡعَوۡنَ لَعَالࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝٨٣

M. Farook Malik

None but a few youth from his own people believed in Moses, because of the fear of Pharoah (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and certainly Pharoah was mighty in the land and the one who did not hesitate to transgress any limit.

famā āmana limūsā illā dhurriyyatun min qawmihi ʿalā khawfin min fir'ʿawna wamala-ihim an yaftinahum wa-inna fir'ʿawna laʿālin fī l-arḍi wa-innahu lamina l-mus'rifīn

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ یَـٰقَوۡمِ إِن كُنتُمۡ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ فَعَلَیۡهِ تَوَكَّلُوۤا۟ إِن كُنتُم مُّسۡلِمِینَ ۝٨٤

M. Farook Malik

Moses said: "O my people! If you sincerely believe in Allah, then put your trust in Him, if you are really Muslims."

waqāla mūsā yāqawmi in kuntum āmantum bil-lahi faʿalayhi tawakkalū in kuntum mus'limīn

فَقَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةࣰ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٨٥

M. Farook Malik

They replied: "In Allah do we put our trust. Our Lord! Do not let us suffer at the hands of unjust people

faqālū ʿalā l-lahi tawakkalnā rabbanā lā tajʿalnā fit'natan lil'qawmi l-ẓālimīn

وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحۡمَتِكَ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٨٦

M. Farook Malik

and deliver us through Your mercy, from the nation of unbelievers."

wanajjinā biraḥmatika mina l-qawmi l-kāfirīn

وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَأَخِیهِ أَن تَبَوَّءَا لِقَوۡمِكُمَا بِمِصۡرَ بُیُوتࣰا وَٱجۡعَلُوا۟ بُیُوتَكُمۡ قِبۡلَةࣰ وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨٧

M. Farook Malik

We revealed Our will to Moses and his brother, saying: "Take your people to dwell in Egypt, and make your houses as your Qiblah (places of worship) and establish Salah and give good news to the believers!"

wa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā wa-akhīhi an tabawwaā liqawmikumā bimiṣ'ra buyūtan wa-ij'ʿalū buyūtakum qib'latan wa-aqīmū l-ṣalata wabashiri l-mu'minīn

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَاۤ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَیۡتَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَأَهُۥ زِینَةࣰ وَأَمۡوَ ٰلࣰا فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا رَبَّنَا لِیُضِلُّوا۟ عَن سَبِیلِكَۖ رَبَّنَا ٱطۡمِسۡ عَلَىٰۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلِهِمۡ وَٱشۡدُدۡ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَلَا یُؤۡمِنُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ یَرَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِیمَ ۝٨٨

M. Farook Malik

Moses prayed: "Our Lord! You have indeed bestowed on Pharoah and his chiefs splendor and wealth in this worldly life. Our Lord, have you done this so that they may mislead people from Your way? Our Lord, destroy their wealth and harden their hearts, so that they may not believe until they see the painful punishment."

waqāla mūsā rabbanā innaka ātayta fir'ʿawna wamala-ahu zīnatan wa-amwālan fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā rabbanā liyuḍillū ʿan sabīlika rabbanā iṭ'mis ʿalā amwālihim wa-ush'dud ʿalā qulūbihim falā yu'minū ḥattā yarawū l-ʿadhāba l-alīm

قَالَ قَدۡ أُجِیبَت دَّعۡوَتُكُمَا فَٱسۡتَقِیمَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعَاۤنِّ سَبِیلَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٨٩

M. Farook Malik

Allah replied: "Your prayer shall be answered! So remain steadfast and do not follow the path of those who have no knowledge."

qāla qad ujībat daʿwatukumā fa-is'taqīmā walā tattabiʿānni sabīla alladhīna lā yaʿlamūn

۞ وَجَـٰوَزۡنَا بِبَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُمۡ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ بَغۡیࣰا وَعَدۡوًاۖ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَاۤ أَدۡرَكَهُ ٱلۡغَرَقُ قَالَ ءَامَنتُ أَنَّهُۥ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِیۤ ءَامَنَتۡ بِهِۦ بَنُوۤا۟ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٩٠

M. Farook Malik

We led the Children of Israel across the sea. Pharoah and his hosts pursued them with wickedness and oppression, until when drowning, he cried out: "I believe that there is no god but Him in Whom the Children of Israel believe and I have become one of the Muslims."

wajāwaznā bibanī is'rāīla l-baḥra fa-atbaʿahum fir'ʿawnu wajunūduhu baghyan waʿadwan ḥattā idhā adrakahu l-gharaqu qāla āmantu annahu lā ilāha illā alladhī āmanat bihi banū is'rāīla wa-anā mina l-mus'limīn

ءَاۤلۡءَـٰنَ وَقَدۡ عَصَیۡتَ قَبۡلُ وَكُنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٩١

M. Farook Malik

In response it was said to him: "Now you believe! But a little while before you were disobedient and one of the mischief-makers

āl'āna waqad ʿaṣayta qablu wakunta mina l-muf'sidīn

فَٱلۡیَوۡمَ نُنَجِّیكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُونَ لِمَنۡ خَلۡفَكَ ءَایَةࣰۚ وَإِنَّ كَثِیرࣰا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَنۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا لَغَـٰفِلُونَ ۝٩٢

M. Farook Malik

We shall save your body this day, so that you may become a sign for the succeeding generations; indeed many among mankind are heedless of Our signs!"

fal-yawma nunajjīka bibadanika litakūna liman khalfaka āyatan wa-inna kathīran mina l-nāsi ʿan āyātinā laghāfilūn

10 Warning benefits the Heedful

وَلَقَدۡ بَوَّأۡنَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ مُبَوَّأَ صِدۡقࣲ وَرَزَقۡنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِ فَمَا ٱخۡتَلَفُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ جَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡعِلۡمُۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ یَقۡضِی بَیۡنَهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فِیمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝٩٣

M. Farook Malik

We settled the Children of Israel in a respectable dwelling place and provided them with the good things of life. They did not cause dissension until after knowledge had come to them. Surely your Lord will judge between them in those matters in which they caused dissension on the Day of Resurrection

walaqad bawwanā banī is'rāīla mubawwa-a ṣid'qin warazaqnāhum mina l-ṭayibāti famā ikh'talafū ḥattā jāahumu l-ʿil'mu inna rabbaka yaqḍī baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn

فَإِن كُنتَ فِی شَكࣲّ مِّمَّاۤ أَنزَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ فَسۡءَلِ ٱلَّذِینَ یَقۡرَءُونَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبۡلِكَۚ لَقَدۡ جَاۤءَكَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُمۡتَرِینَ ۝٩٤

M. Farook Malik

If you are in doubt regarding what We have revealed to you, ask those who have been reading the Book before you. In fact, the truth has indeed come to you from your Lord: therefore, do not be of those who doubt

fa-in kunta fī shakkin mimmā anzalnā ilayka fasali alladhīna yaqraūna l-kitāba min qablika laqad jāaka l-ḥaqu min rabbika falā takūnanna mina l-mum'tarīn

وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِینَ ۝٩٥

M. Farook Malik

and do not join those who deny the revelations of Allah; otherwise you will become one of the losers

walā takūnanna mina alladhīna kadhabū biāyāti l-lahi fatakūna mina l-khāsirīn

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ حَقَّتۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٩٦

M. Farook Malik

In fact, those against whom the Word of your Lord has proved true will not believe

inna alladhīna ḥaqqat ʿalayhim kalimatu rabbika lā yu'minūn

وَلَوۡ جَاۤءَتۡهُمۡ كُلُّ ءَایَةٍ حَتَّىٰ یَرَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِیمَ ۝٩٧

M. Farook Malik

even if every sign should come to them, until they themselves see the painful punishment

walaw jāathum kullu āyatin ḥattā yarawū l-ʿadhāba l-alīm

فَلَوۡلَا كَانَتۡ قَرۡیَةٌ ءَامَنَتۡ فَنَفَعَهَاۤ إِیمَـٰنُهَاۤ إِلَّا قَوۡمَ یُونُسَ لَمَّاۤ ءَامَنُوا۟ كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخِزۡیِ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَمَتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝٩٨

M. Farook Malik

Was there any town which seeing the scourge, believed, and their belief profited them except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the disgraceful scourge and allowed them to enjoy their worldly life for a while

falawlā kānat qaryatun āmanat fanafaʿahā īmānuhā illā qawma yūnusa lammā āmanū kashafnā ʿanhum ʿadhāba l-khiz'yi fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā wamattaʿnāhum ilā ḥīni

وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ رَبُّكَ لَءَامَنَ مَن فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كُلُّهُمۡ جَمِیعًاۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُكۡرِهُ ٱلنَّاسَ حَتَّىٰ یَكُونُوا۟ مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٩٩

M. Farook Malik

If it had been the will of your Lord that all the people of the world should be believers, all the people of the earth would have believed! Would you then compel mankind against their will to believe

walaw shāa rabbuka laāmana man fī l-arḍi kulluhum jamīʿan afa-anta tuk'rihu l-nāsa ḥattā yakūnū mu'minīn

وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفۡسٍ أَن تُؤۡمِنَ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَیَجۡعَلُ ٱلرِّجۡسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٠٠

M. Farook Malik

It is not possible for anyone to believe except by the permission of Allah, and He throws filth on those who do not use their commonsense

wamā kāna linafsin an tu'mina illā bi-idh'ni l-lahi wayajʿalu l-rij'sa ʿalā alladhīna lā yaʿqilūn

قُلِ ٱنظُرُوا۟ مَاذَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَا تُغۡنِی ٱلۡءَایَـٰتُ وَٱلنُّذُرُ عَن قَوۡمࣲ لَّا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٠١

M. Farook Malik

Say: "Look at whatever exists in the heavens and the earth." Signs and warnings do not benefit those people who do not believe

quli unẓurū mādhā fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā tugh'nī l-āyātu wal-nudhuru ʿan qawmin lā yu'minūn

فَهَلۡ یَنتَظِرُونَ إِلَّا مِثۡلَ أَیَّامِ ٱلَّذِینَ خَلَوۡا۟ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ قُلۡ فَٱنتَظِرُوۤا۟ إِنِّی مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُنتَظِرِینَ ۝١٠٢

M. Farook Malik

Now are they waiting for evil days like the ones that befell the people who passed away before them? Say: "Wait if you will; I too will wait with you."

fahal yantaẓirūna illā mith'la ayyāmi alladhīna khalaw min qablihim qul fa-intaẓirū innī maʿakum mina l-muntaẓirīn

ثُمَّ نُنَجِّی رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ حَقًّا عَلَیۡنَا نُنجِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٠٣

M. Farook Malik

When such a time comes, We rescue Our Messengers and those who believe - this is Our way; it is but right that We rescue the believers

thumma nunajjī rusulanā wa-alladhīna āmanū kadhālika ḥaqqan ʿalaynā nunji l-mu'minīn

11 Divine Judgment

قُلۡ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمۡ فِی شَكࣲّ مِّن دِینِی فَلَاۤ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِینَ تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِنۡ أَعۡبُدُ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِی یَتَوَفَّىٰكُمۡۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٠٤

M. Farook Malik

Say: "O people! Doubt my Deen (religion) if you will, but never will I worship those that you worship besides Allah. I worship Allah, Who has the power to cause your death, and I am commanded to be one of the believers."

qul yāayyuhā l-nāsu in kuntum fī shakkin min dīnī falā aʿbudu alladhīna taʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi walākin aʿbudu l-laha alladhī yatawaffākum wa-umir'tu an akūna mina l-mu'minīn

وَأَنۡ أَقِمۡ وَجۡهَكَ لِلدِّینِ حَنِیفࣰا وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝١٠٥

M. Farook Malik

I am further commanded: "Dedicate yourself to the Deen (religion) in all uprightness and be not of the pagans (who associate other gods with Allah)

wa-an aqim wajhaka lilddīni ḥanīfan walā takūnanna mina l-mush'rikīn

وَلَا تَدۡعُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَنفَعُكَ وَلَا یَضُرُّكَۖ فَإِن فَعَلۡتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذࣰا مِّنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٠٦

M. Farook Malik

You shall not pray to others than Allah who can neither benefit nor harm you, for if you do, you shall certainly become one of the wrongdoers

walā tadʿu min dūni l-lahi mā lā yanfaʿuka walā yaḍurruka fa-in faʿalta fa-innaka idhan mina l-ẓālimīn

وَإِن یَمۡسَسۡكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرࣲّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥۤ إِلَّا هُوَۖ وَإِن یُرِدۡكَ بِخَیۡرࣲ فَلَا رَاۤدَّ لِفَضۡلِهِۦۚ یُصِیبُ بِهِۦ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٠٧

M. Farook Malik

If Allah afflicts you with a calamity, none can remove it but He; and if He intends to bestow a favor, none can withhold His bounty. He bestows it on whomsoever of His servants He pleases; He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

wa-in yamsaska l-lahu biḍurrin falā kāshifa lahu illā huwa wa-in yurid'ka bikhayrin falā rādda lifaḍlihi yuṣību bihi man yashāu min ʿibādihi wahuwa l-ghafūru l-raḥīm

قُلۡ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَاۤءَكُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ فَمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا یَهۡتَدِی لِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا یَضِلُّ عَلَیۡهَاۖ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ عَلَیۡكُم بِوَكِیلࣲ ۝١٠٨

M. Farook Malik

O Muhammad, declare: "O mankind! The truth has come to you from your Lord! He that follows guidance (Right Way) follows it for his own good, and he that goes astray does so at his own risk; for I am not a custodian over you."

qul yāayyuhā l-nāsu qad jāakumu l-ḥaqu min rabbikum famani ih'tadā fa-innamā yahtadī linafsihi waman ḍalla fa-innamā yaḍillu ʿalayhā wamā anā ʿalaykum biwakīli

وَٱتَّبِعۡ مَا یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیۡكَ وَٱصۡبِرۡ حَتَّىٰ یَحۡكُمَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَهُوَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡحَـٰكِمِینَ ۝١٠٩

M. Farook Malik

O Prophet, follow what is revealed to you and be patient till Allah passes His judgement, for He is the best of all the Judges

wa-ittabiʿ mā yūḥā ilayka wa-iṣ'bir ḥattā yaḥkuma l-lahu wahuwa khayru l-ḥākimīn
