Jonah — Syed Vickar Ahamed Translation

أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنۡ أَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ رَجُلࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَنۡ أَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ قَدَمَ صِدۡقٍ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡۗ قَالَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Is it a matter of wonder for men that We have sent Our revelation to a man (who is) from themselves? (Declaring) that he should warn Mankind (of the danger), and give the good news to the believers that they have before their Lord the highest Rank of Truth. (But) the disbelievers say: "This (man, the Prophet) is clearly a magician!"

akāna lilnnāsi ʿajaban an awḥaynā ilā rajulin min'hum an andhiri l-nāsa wabashiri alladhīna āmanū anna lahum qadama ṣid'qin ʿinda rabbihim qāla l-kāfirūna inna hādhā lasāḥirun mubīnu

10:3

إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِی سِتَّةِ أَیَّامࣲ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ یُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَۖ مَا مِن شَفِیعٍ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ إِذۡنِهِۦۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely, your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days— And then rose over the Throne (of power), regulating and governing all things. No intercessor (or pleader can request from Him) except after His permission (is given to him). This is Allah your Lord; Therefore Him, you worship: Will you not remember (to take the guidance)

inna rabbakumu l-lahu alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa fī sittati ayyāmin thumma is'tawā ʿalā l-ʿarshi yudabbiru l-amra mā min shafīʿin illā min baʿdi idh'nihi dhālikumu l-lahu rabbukum fa-uʿ'budūhu afalā tadhakkarūn

10:4

إِلَیۡهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ جَمِیعࣰاۖ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقًّاۚ إِنَّهُۥ یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥ لِیَجۡزِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِۚ وَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَهُمۡ شَرَابࣱ مِّنۡ حَمِیمࣲ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِیمُۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

To Him will be your return— All of you. The Promise of Allah is true and sure. It is He Who begins the process of creation, and repeats it, that He may reward with justice those who believe and work righteousness; But those who reject (and disbelieved) him will have streams of boiling liquids (to drink), and a painful penalty because they rejected Him

ilayhi marjiʿukum jamīʿan waʿda l-lahi ḥaqqan innahu yabda-u l-khalqa thumma yuʿīduhu liyajziya alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti bil-qis'ṭi wa-alladhīna kafarū lahum sharābun min ḥamīmin waʿadhābun alīmun bimā kānū yakfurūn

10:5

هُوَ ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ ضِیَاۤءࣰ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ نُورࣰا وَقَدَّرَهُۥ مَنَازِلَ لِتَعۡلَمُوا۟ عَدَدَ ٱلسِّنِینَ وَٱلۡحِسَابَۚ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ذَ ٰلِكَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ یُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

It is He Who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty), and set out the phases for it; So that you may know the number of years and count (the time). Allah did not create this except in truth and righteousness. (Like this) He explains His Signs in detail, for people(s) who have knowledge

huwa alladhī jaʿala l-shamsa ḍiyāan wal-qamara nūran waqaddarahu manāzila litaʿlamū ʿadada l-sinīna wal-ḥisāba mā khalaqa l-lahu dhālika illā bil-ḥaqi yufaṣṣilu l-āyāti liqawmin yaʿlamūn

10:6

إِنَّ فِی ٱخۡتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَتَّقُونَ ۝٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely, in the changing of the night and day, and in all that Allah has created, in the heavens and the earth, (there) are Signs for those who fear Him

inna fī ikh'tilāfi al-layli wal-nahāri wamā khalaqa l-lahu fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi laāyātin liqawmin yattaqūn

10:7

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ لِقَاۤءَنَا وَرَضُوا۟ بِٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَٱطۡمَأَنُّوا۟ بِهَا وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ عَنۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا غَـٰفِلُونَ ۝٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Verily, those who do not keep their hope on their meeting with Us, but are happy and content with the life of the world (and present), and those who do not pay attention to Our Signs—

inna alladhīna lā yarjūna liqāanā waraḍū bil-ḥayati l-dun'yā wa-iṭ'ma-annū bihā wa-alladhīna hum ʿan āyātinā ghāfilūn

10:8

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(For those), their home is the Fire, because of the (evil) they have earned

ulāika mawāhumu l-nāru bimā kānū yaksibūn

10:9

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ یَهۡدِیهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِإِیمَـٰنِهِمۡۖ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهِمُ ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ فِی جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Verily, those who believe, and work righteousness— Their Lord will guide them through their Faith: Beneath them will flow rivers in Gardens (the Paradise) of delight

inna alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti yahdīhim rabbuhum biīmānihim tajrī min taḥtihimu l-anhāru fī jannāti l-naʿīm

10:10

دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ فِیهَا سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَتَحِیَّتُهُمۡ فِیهَا سَلَـٰمࣱۚ وَءَاخِرُ دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ أَنِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

In there, their cry will be: "Glory to You, O Allah!" And "Peace" will be their greeting in there! And the close (echo) of their voice will be: "Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds, (Rab-Al-'Ala'meen)!"

daʿwāhum fīhā sub'ḥānaka l-lahuma wataḥiyyatuhum fīhā salāmun waākhiru daʿwāhum ani l-ḥamdu lillahi rabbi l-ʿālamīn

10:11

۞ وَلَوۡ یُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسۡتِعۡجَالَهُم بِٱلۡخَیۡرِ لَقُضِیَ إِلَیۡهِمۡ أَجَلُهُمۡۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ لِقَاۤءَنَا فِی طُغۡیَـٰنِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝١١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And if Allah were to bring forward for men the bad (that they have earned) as they would happily hasten on the good— Then their period of rest will be settled at once. But We leave those who do not keep their hope on their meeting with Us, in their sins, wandering about being lost

walaw yuʿajjilu l-lahu lilnnāsi l-shara is'tiʿ'jālahum bil-khayri laquḍiya ilayhim ajaluhum fanadharu alladhīna lā yarjūna liqāanā fī ṭugh'yānihim yaʿmahūn

10:12

وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦۤ أَوۡ قَاعِدًا أَوۡ قَاۤىِٕمࣰا فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمۡ یَدۡعُنَاۤ إِلَىٰ ضُرࣲّ مَّسَّهُۥۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ زُیِّنَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And when trouble touches a man, he cries to Us (in many ways)— Lying down on his side, or sitting, or standing. But when We have solved his trouble, he goes on his way as if he never cried to Us for the trouble that had touched him! Thus the actions of who exceed their limits look all right in their (own) eyes

wa-idhā massa l-insāna l-ḍuru daʿānā lijanbihi aw qāʿidan aw qāiman falammā kashafnā ʿanhu ḍurrahu marra ka-an lam yadʿunā ilā ḍurrin massahu kadhālika zuyyina lil'mus'rifīna mā kānū yaʿmalūn

10:13

وَلَقَدۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا ٱلۡقُرُونَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَمَّا ظَلَمُوا۟ وَجَاۤءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِیُؤۡمِنُوا۟ۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝١٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And indeed, generations before you We have destroyed when they did wrong: Their messengers came to them with Clear Signs, but they would not believe! Like this We repay the sinners (and criminals)

walaqad ahlaknā l-qurūna min qablikum lammā ẓalamū wajāathum rusuluhum bil-bayināti wamā kānū liyu'minū kadhālika najzī l-qawma l-muj'rimīn

10:14

ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَـٰكُمۡ خَلَـٰۤىِٕفَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ لِنَنظُرَ كَیۡفَ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Then after them, We made you the successors generations after generations to take over the land, to see how you will behave

thumma jaʿalnākum khalāifa fī l-arḍi min baʿdihim linanẓura kayfa taʿmalūn

10:15

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَاتُنَا بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ لِقَاۤءَنَا ٱئۡتِ بِقُرۡءَانٍ غَیۡرِ هَـٰذَاۤ أَوۡ بَدِّلۡهُۚ قُلۡ مَا یَكُونُ لِیۤ أَنۡ أُبَدِّلَهُۥ مِن تِلۡقَاۤىِٕ نَفۡسِیۤۖ إِنۡ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیَّۖ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ إِنۡ عَصَیۡتُ رَبِّی عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And when Our Clear Signs (verses) are rehearsed on them, those who do not keep their hope on their meeting with Us, say: "Bring to us a Quran other than this, or change this," say: "It is not for me, to change it by myself: I follow nothing except what is made known to me: If I was to disobey my Lord, I should fear the penalty of a Great Day."

wa-idhā tut'lā ʿalayhim āyātunā bayyinātin qāla alladhīna lā yarjūna liqāanā i'ti biqur'ānin ghayri hādhā aw baddil'hu qul mā yakūnu lī an ubaddilahu min til'qāi nafsī in attabiʿu illā mā yūḥā ilayya innī akhāfu in ʿaṣaytu rabbī ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmi

10:16

قُل لَّوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَلَوۡتُهُۥ عَلَیۡكُمۡ وَلَاۤ أَدۡرَىٰكُم بِهِۦۖ فَقَدۡ لَبِثۡتُ فِیكُمۡ عُمُرࣰا مِّن قَبۡلِهِۦۤۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "If Allah had so willed, I should not have delivered it to you, nor would He have made it known to you. Surely, a whole life-time before now, I have been with you: Then will you not understand

qul law shāa l-lahu mā talawtuhu ʿalaykum walā adrākum bihi faqad labith'tu fīkum ʿumuran min qablihi afalā taʿqilūn

10:17

فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوۡ كَذَّبَ بِءَایَـٰتِهِۦۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝١٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Who do more wrong than those who make up a lie against Allah, or deny His Signs? But those who sin will never prosper

faman aẓlamu mimmani if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban aw kadhaba biāyātihi innahu lā yuf'liḥu l-muj'rimūn

10:18

وَیَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَضُرُّهُمۡ وَلَا یَنفَعُهُمۡ وَیَقُولُونَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ شُفَعَـٰۤؤُنَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَتُنَبِّءُونَ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا لَا یَعۡلَمُ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَلَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Besides Allah, they worship things that do not hurt them, nor help them, and they say: "These are our intercessors (helpers) with Allah." Say: "Do you really tell Allah something that He does not know, in the heavens or on earth? Glory to Him! And High is He above the partners they ascribe (to Him)!"

wayaʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi mā lā yaḍurruhum walā yanfaʿuhum wayaqūlūna hāulāi shufaʿāunā ʿinda l-lahi qul atunabbiūna l-laha bimā lā yaʿlamu fī l-samāwāti walā fī l-arḍi sub'ḥānahu wataʿālā ʿammā yush'rikūn

10:19

وَمَا كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ إِلَّاۤ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ فَٱخۡتَلَفُوا۟ۚ وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةࣱ سَبَقَتۡ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِیَ بَیۡنَهُمۡ فِیمَا فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝١٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Mankind was only one nation, but differed later. If it was not because of a Word from your Lord that came before their differences would have been settled between them

wamā kāna l-nāsu illā ummatan wāḥidatan fa-ikh'talafū walawlā kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika laquḍiya baynahum fīmā fīhi yakhtalifūn

10:20

وَیَقُولُونَ لَوۡلَاۤ أُنزِلَ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۖ فَقُلۡ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡغَیۡبُ لِلَّهِ فَٱنتَظِرُوۤا۟ إِنِّی مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُنتَظِرِینَ ۝٢٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And they say: "Why is a Sign not sent down to them from their Lord?" Say: "The Unseen is only for Allah (to know). Then you wait: I will also wait with you."

wayaqūlūna lawlā unzila ʿalayhi āyatun min rabbihi faqul innamā l-ghaybu lillahi fa-intaẓirū innī maʿakum mina l-muntaẓirīn

10:21

وَإِذَاۤ أَذَقۡنَا ٱلنَّاسَ رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ ضَرَّاۤءَ مَسَّتۡهُمۡ إِذَا لَهُم مَّكۡرࣱ فِیۤ ءَایَاتِنَاۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ أَسۡرَعُ مَكۡرًاۚ إِنَّ رُسُلَنَا یَكۡتُبُونَ مَا تَمۡكُرُونَ ۝٢١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And then We make Mankind taste of some mercy after pain (and sorrow) has touched them, they start to plot against Our Signs! Say: "Allah! Is swifter to plan." Surely, Our messengers write down all the plots that you make

wa-idhā adhaqnā l-nāsa raḥmatan min baʿdi ḍarrāa massathum idhā lahum makrun fī āyātinā quli l-lahu asraʿu makran inna rusulanā yaktubūna mā tamkurūn

10:22

هُوَ ٱلَّذِی یُسَیِّرُكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِۖ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا كُنتُمۡ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ وَجَرَیۡنَ بِهِم بِرِیحࣲ طَیِّبَةࣲ وَفَرِحُوا۟ بِهَا جَاۤءَتۡهَا رِیحٌ عَاصِفࣱ وَجَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانࣲ وَظَنُّوۤا۟ أَنَّهُمۡ أُحِیطَ بِهِمۡ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِینَ لَهُ ٱلدِّینَ لَىِٕنۡ أَنجَیۡتَنَا مِنۡ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِینَ ۝٢٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

It is He, Who enables you to travel by land and sea; So that when you get into ships— They (the ships) sail with them by the right wind, and they become happy with it; Then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to them from every side, and they think they are being overcome: Then they cry to Allah, truly offering (their) duty to Him, saying, "If You save us from this, we shall truly show our thanks!"

huwa alladhī yusayyirukum fī l-bari wal-baḥri ḥattā idhā kuntum fī l-ful'ki wajarayna bihim birīḥin ṭayyibatin wafariḥū bihā jāathā rīḥun ʿāṣifun wajāahumu l-mawju min kulli makānin waẓannū annahum uḥīṭa bihim daʿawū l-laha mukh'liṣīna lahu l-dīna la-in anjaytanā min hādhihi lanakūnanna mina l-shākirīn

10:23

فَلَمَّاۤ أَنجَىٰهُمۡ إِذَا هُمۡ یَبۡغُونَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَیۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّۗ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّمَا بَغۡیُكُمۡ عَلَىٰۤ أَنفُسِكُمۖ مَّتَـٰعَ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۖ ثُمَّ إِلَیۡنَا مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَنُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

But when He saves them, behold! They exceed all limits proudly on earth against the right! O Mankind! Your insolence is against your own souls, an enjoyment of the life of the present! To Us is your return, in the end; And We shall show you the truth of all that you did

falammā anjāhum idhā hum yabghūna fī l-arḍi bighayri l-ḥaqi yāayyuhā l-nāsu innamā baghyukum ʿalā anfusikum matāʿa l-ḥayati l-dun'yā thumma ilaynā marjiʿukum fanunabbi-ukum bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

10:24

إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا كَمَاۤءٍ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَٱخۡتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِمَّا یَأۡكُلُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمُ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَاۤ أَخَذَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ زُخۡرُفَهَا وَٱزَّیَّنَتۡ وَظَنَّ أَهۡلُهَاۤ أَنَّهُمۡ قَـٰدِرُونَ عَلَیۡهَاۤ أَتَىٰهَاۤ أَمۡرُنَا لَیۡلًا أَوۡ نَهَارࣰا فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهَا حَصِیدࣰا كَأَن لَّمۡ تَغۡنَ بِٱلۡأَمۡسِۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَتَفَكَّرُونَ ۝٢٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Verily, the life of the present is like the rain which We send down from the skies: With its occurrence come the crops of the earth— Which provide food for men and animals: (They grow) till the earth wears its golden ornament and is strung out (in beauty): The people to whom it belongs think they have all the control over it (the earth): (However) by night or by day, Our Command reaches it and We make it like a harvest (crop) cleanly cut, as if it had not flourished the day before! Like this We explain in detail Our Signs for those who meditate

innamā mathalu l-ḥayati l-dun'yā kamāin anzalnāhu mina l-samāi fa-ikh'talaṭa bihi nabātu l-arḍi mimmā yakulu l-nāsu wal-anʿāmu ḥattā idhā akhadhati l-arḍu zukh'rufahā wa-izzayyanat waẓanna ahluhā annahum qādirūna ʿalayhā atāhā amrunā laylan aw nahāran fajaʿalnāhā ḥaṣīdan ka-an lam taghna bil-amsi kadhālika nufaṣṣilu l-āyāti liqawmin yatafakkarūn

10:25

وَٱللَّهُ یَدۡعُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ دَارِ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ وَیَهۡدِی مَن یَشَاۤءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٢٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

But Allah does call (you) to the Home of Peace: He does guide whom He pleases to the Straight Path

wal-lahu yadʿū ilā dāri l-salāmi wayahdī man yashāu ilā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi

10:26

۞ لِّلَّذِینَ أَحۡسَنُوا۟ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ وَزِیَادَةࣱۖ وَلَا یَرۡهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمۡ قَتَرࣱ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡجَنَّةِۖ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٢٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

To those who do right is a good (reward)— Yes, more (than that), no darkness, no dust, nor shame shall be over their faces! They are the companions of the Garden; In there they will live (for ever)

lilladhīna aḥsanū l-ḥus'nā waziyādatun walā yarhaqu wujūhahum qatarun walā dhillatun ulāika aṣḥābu l-janati hum fīhā khālidūn

10:27

وَٱلَّذِینَ كَسَبُوا۟ ٱلسَّیِّءَاتِ جَزَاۤءُ سَیِّئَةِۭ بِمِثۡلِهَا وَتَرۡهَقُهُمۡ ذِلَّةࣱۖ مَّا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۡ عَاصِمࣲۖ كَأَنَّمَاۤ أُغۡشِیَتۡ وُجُوهُهُمۡ قِطَعࣰا مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ مُظۡلِمًاۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٢٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

But those who have earned evil deeds will have a repayment of like evil: And (humiliating) shame and dishonor will cover their (faces): None will they have to save from (the anger of) Allah: Their faces will be covered, so to say, with pieces of the deep darkness of Night: They are the companions of the Fire: In there they will live forever

wa-alladhīna kasabū l-sayiāti jazāu sayyi-atin bimith'lihā watarhaquhum dhillatun mā lahum mina l-lahi min ʿāṣimin ka-annamā ugh'shiyat wujūhuhum qiṭaʿan mina al-layli muẓ'liman ulāika aṣḥābu l-nāri hum fīhā khālidūn

10:28

وَیَوۡمَ نَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِیعࣰا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ مَكَانَكُمۡ أَنتُمۡ وَشُرَكَاۤؤُكُمۡۚ فَزَیَّلۡنَا بَیۡنَهُمۡۖ وَقَالَ شُرَكَاۤؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ إِیَّانَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٢٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And one Day, We shall gather them all together— Then We shall say to those who joined gods (with Us): "(Go) to your place! You and those you joined as 'partners'." Then We shall separate them, and their 'partners' shall say: "It was not us that you used to worship

wayawma naḥshuruhum jamīʿan thumma naqūlu lilladhīna ashrakū makānakum antum washurakāukum fazayyalnā baynahum waqāla shurakāuhum mā kuntum iyyānā taʿbudūn

10:29

فَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِیدَۢا بَیۡنَنَا وَبَیۡنَكُمۡ إِن كُنَّا عَنۡ عِبَادَتِكُمۡ لَغَـٰفِلِینَ ۝٢٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Allah is enough as a witness between us and you: Truly we did not know anything of your worship of us!"

fakafā bil-lahi shahīdan baynanā wabaynakum in kunnā ʿan ʿibādatikum laghāfilīn

10:30

هُنَالِكَ تَبۡلُوا۟ كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ مَّاۤ أَسۡلَفَتۡۚ وَرُدُّوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَوۡلَىٰهُمُ ٱلۡحَقِّۖ وَضَلَّ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝٣٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

In there, every soul will know (the fruits of) the deeds it sent before: They will be brought back to Allah their rightful Lord, and their lies (the ‘partners’ that they) invented will leave them without (help or) support

hunālika tablū kullu nafsin mā aslafat waruddū ilā l-lahi mawlāhumu l-ḥaqi waḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūn

10:31

قُلۡ مَن یَرۡزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَمَّن یَمۡلِكُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرَ وَمَن یُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡحَیَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَیِّتِ وَیُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡمَیِّتَ مِنَ ٱلۡحَیِّ وَمَن یُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَۚ فَسَیَقُولُونَ ٱللَّهُۚ فَقُلۡ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٣١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "Who is it that provides you (for life) from the sky and from the earth? Or who is it that has power over hearing and sight? And who is it that brings out the living from the dead, and the dead from the living and who is it that rules and controls all affairs?" They will soon say, "Allah!" Say: "Then will you not show piety (to Him)?"

qul man yarzuqukum mina l-samāi wal-arḍi amman yamliku l-samʿa wal-abṣāra waman yukh'riju l-ḥaya mina l-mayiti wayukh'riju l-mayita mina l-ḥayi waman yudabbiru l-amra fasayaqūlūna l-lahu faqul afalā tattaqūn

10:32

فَذَ ٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَاذَا بَعۡدَ ٱلۡحَقِّ إِلَّا ٱلضَّلَـٰلُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصۡرَفُونَ ۝٣٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Such is Allah, your true Cherisher and Sustainer: Apart from Truth, what (remains) but wrong? Then why are you turned away

fadhālikumu l-lahu rabbukumu l-ḥaqu famādhā baʿda l-ḥaqi illā l-ḍalālu fa-annā tuṣ'rafūn

10:33

كَذَ ٰلِكَ حَقَّتۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ فَسَقُوۤا۟ أَنَّهُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٣٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

It is (indeed) the Word of the Lord (always) proved true against those who rebel: Surely they will not believe

kadhālika ḥaqqat kalimatu rabbika ʿalā alladhīna fasaqū annahum lā yu'minūn

10:34

قُلۡ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَاۤىِٕكُم مَّن یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ ۝٣٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "Of your 'partners' can anyone originate creation and repeat it?" Say: "It is Allah Who begins creation and repeats it: Then why are you deceived away (from the truth)?"

qul hal min shurakāikum man yabda-u l-khalqa thumma yuʿīduhu quli l-lahu yabda-u l-khalqa thumma yuʿīduhu fa-annā tu'fakūn

10:35

قُلۡ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَاۤىِٕكُم مَّن یَهۡدِیۤ إِلَى ٱلۡحَقِّۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ یَهۡدِی لِلۡحَقِّۗ أَفَمَن یَهۡدِیۤ إِلَى ٱلۡحَقِّ أَحَقُّ أَن یُتَّبَعَ أَمَّن لَّا یَهِدِّیۤ إِلَّاۤ أَن یُهۡدَىٰۖ فَمَا لَكُمۡ كَیۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ ۝٣٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "From your 'partners', is there any that can give any guidance towards Truth?" Say: "It is Allah Who gives guidance towards Truth. Then, is He Who gives guidance to truth more worthy to be followed, or he who does not find guidance (for himself) unless he is guided? What then is the matter with you? How do you judge?"

qul hal min shurakāikum man yahdī ilā l-ḥaqi quli l-lahu yahdī lil'ḥaqqi afaman yahdī ilā l-ḥaqi aḥaqqu an yuttabaʿa amman lā yahiddī illā an yuh'dā famā lakum kayfa taḥkumūn

10:36

وَمَا یَتَّبِعُ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ إِلَّا ظَنًّاۚ إِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا یُغۡنِی مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّ شَیۡءًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِیمُۢ بِمَا یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٣٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And most of them follow nothing but (their) wishes: Truly, wishes can be of no use against Truth. Surely, Allah is well aware of all that they do

wamā yattabiʿu aktharuhum illā ẓannan inna l-ẓana lā yugh'nī mina l-ḥaqi shayan inna l-laha ʿalīmun bimā yafʿalūn

10:37

وَمَا كَانَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ أَن یُفۡتَرَىٰ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِن تَصۡدِیقَ ٱلَّذِی بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡهِ وَتَفۡصِیلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ لَا رَیۡبَ فِیهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٣٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And this Quran is not like anything that can be produced by (anyone) other than Allah; But (for sure), it confirms the (revelations) that went before it, and a more complete explanation of the Book— In which there is no doubt— From the Lord of the Worlds

wamā kāna hādhā l-qur'ānu an yuf'tarā min dūni l-lahi walākin taṣdīqa alladhī bayna yadayhi watafṣīla l-kitābi lā rayba fīhi min rabbi l-ʿālamīn

10:38

أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ قُلۡ فَأۡتُوا۟ بِسُورَةࣲ مِّثۡلِهِۦ وَٱدۡعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٣٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Or do they (the disbelievers) say, "He made it up?" Say: "Bring then a Sura of its like, and call (for your help) anyone you can, besides Allah, if it is that you speak the truth!"

am yaqūlūna if'tarāhu qul fatū bisūratin mith'lihi wa-id'ʿū mani is'taṭaʿtum min dūni l-lahi in kuntum ṣādiqīn

10:39

بَلۡ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِمَا لَمۡ یُحِیطُوا۟ بِعِلۡمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا یَأۡتِهِمۡ تَأۡوِیلُهُۥۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٣٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

No! They say it is false that whose knowledge they cannot understand, even before its proof has reached them: Like this did those before them accuse as false: But see what was the end of those who did wrong

bal kadhabū bimā lam yuḥīṭū biʿil'mihi walammā yatihim tawīluhu kadhālika kadhaba alladhīna min qablihim fa-unẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-ẓālimīn

10:40

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن یُؤۡمِنُ بِهِۦ وَمِنۡهُم مَّن لَّا یُؤۡمِنُ بِهِۦۚ وَرَبُّكَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٤٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And of them there are some who believe in it, and (there are) some who do not (believe): And your Lord knows best those who are there to make mischief

wamin'hum man yu'minu bihi wamin'hum man lā yu'minu bihi warabbuka aʿlamu bil-muf'sidīn

10:41

وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّی عَمَلِی وَلَكُمۡ عَمَلُكُمۡۖ أَنتُم بَرِیۤءُونَ مِمَّاۤ أَعۡمَلُ وَأَنَا۠ بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٤١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

If they accuse you with lies, say (to them): "My work is for me, and yours is for you! You are free from responsibility about what I do, and I (am free from responsibility) about what you do!"

wa-in kadhabūka faqul lī ʿamalī walakum ʿamalukum antum barīūna mimmā aʿmalu wa-anā barīon mimmā taʿmalūn

10:42

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن یَسۡتَمِعُونَ إِلَیۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُسۡمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ وَلَوۡ كَانُوا۟ لَا یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٤٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And among them are some who (show as if they) listen to you: But can you make the deaf to hear— Even though they do not understand

wamin'hum man yastamiʿūna ilayka afa-anta tus'miʿu l-ṣuma walaw kānū lā yaʿqilūn

10:43

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن یَنظُرُ إِلَیۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تَهۡدِی ٱلۡعُمۡیَ وَلَوۡ كَانُوا۟ لَا یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٤٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And among them are some who look at you: But can you guide the blind— Even though they will not see

wamin'hum man yanẓuru ilayka afa-anta tahdī l-ʿum'ya walaw kānū lā yub'ṣirūn

10:44

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یَظۡلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمۡ یَظۡلِمُونَ ۝٤٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely, Allah will not deal unjustly with (any) man in the least bit: It is man who does wrong to his own soul

inna l-laha lā yaẓlimu l-nāsa shayan walākinna l-nāsa anfusahum yaẓlimūn

10:45

وَیَوۡمَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡ كَأَن لَّمۡ یَلۡبَثُوۤا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةࣰ مِّنَ ٱلنَّهَارِ یَتَعَارَفُونَ بَیۡنَهُمۡۚ قَدۡ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَاۤءِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهۡتَدِینَ ۝٤٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And on the Day, when He will gather them together: (It will be) as if they had not stayed except by an hour of a day: They will recognize each other: Surely, those will be lost who denied the meeting with Allah and refused to receive Guidance

wayawma yaḥshuruhum ka-an lam yalbathū illā sāʿatan mina l-nahāri yataʿārafūna baynahum qad khasira alladhīna kadhabū biliqāi l-lahi wamā kānū muh'tadīn

10:46

وَإِمَّا نُرِیَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِی نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّیَنَّكَ فَإِلَیۡنَا مَرۡجِعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ شَهِیدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٤٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Whether We show you (in this life) some part of what We promise them (that is the punishment)— Or We take (back your) soul— (to Our Mercy before that) in any case, their return is to Us: In the end, Allah is witness to all that they used to do

wa-immā nuriyannaka baʿḍa alladhī naʿiduhum aw natawaffayannaka fa-ilaynā marjiʿuhum thumma l-lahu shahīdun ʿalā mā yafʿalūn

10:47

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةࣲ رَّسُولࣱۖ فَإِذَا جَاۤءَ رَسُولُهُمۡ قُضِیَ بَیۡنَهُم بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝٤٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And for every nation a messenger was sent when their messenger has come (and told them), the matter will be decided between them justly, and they will not be wronged

walikulli ummatin rasūlun fa-idhā jāa rasūluhum quḍiya baynahum bil-qis'ṭi wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn

10:48

وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٤٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And they say: "When will this promise come true— If you (really) tell the truth?"

wayaqūlūna matā hādhā l-waʿdu in kuntum ṣādiqīn

10:49

قُل لَّاۤ أَمۡلِكُ لِنَفۡسِی ضَرࣰّا وَلَا نَفۡعًا إِلَّا مَا شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُۗ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌۚ إِذَا جَاۤءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ فَلَا یَسۡتَءۡخِرُونَ سَاعَةࣰ وَلَا یَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ ۝٤٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "I have no power over any harm or gain to myself except as Allah wills. A term is fixed for every people: When their term is come, they can not postpone it by an hour, nor can they advance (it by an hour)."

qul lā amliku linafsī ḍarran walā nafʿan illā mā shāa l-lahu likulli ummatin ajalun idhā jāa ajaluhum falā yastakhirūna sāʿatan walā yastaqdimūn

10:50

قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتُمۡ إِنۡ أَتَىٰكُمۡ عَذَابُهُۥ بَیَـٰتًا أَوۡ نَهَارࣰا مَّاذَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُ مِنۡهُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٥٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "Do you see— If the punishment from Him should come to you by night or by day— Which part of it (punishment) would the sinners want to hasten

qul ara-aytum in atākum ʿadhābuhu bayātan aw nahāran mādhā yastaʿjilu min'hu l-muj'rimūn

10:51

أَثُمَّ إِذَا مَا وَقَعَ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦۤۚ ءَاۤلۡءَـٰنَ وَقَدۡ كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝٥١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"At last, would you then believe in it, when it actually comes true?" (It will then be said:) "Well now? And you wanted to hasten it on!"

athumma idhā mā waqaʿa āmantum bihi āl'āna waqad kuntum bihi tastaʿjilūn

10:52

ثُمَّ قِیلَ لِلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ هَلۡ تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٥٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

In the end, (it) will be said to them, the wrongdoers: "You taste the lasting punishment! You get only the repayment of what you earned!"

thumma qīla lilladhīna ẓalamū dhūqū ʿadhāba l-khul'di hal tuj'zawna illā bimā kuntum taksibūn

10:53

۞ وَیَسۡتَنۢبِءُونَكَ أَحَقٌّ هُوَۖ قُلۡ إِی وَرَبِّیۤ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقࣱّۖ وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝٥٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And they would like to be told by you: "Is that true?" Say: "Yes! By my Lord! It is the very truth! And you cannot escape from it!"

wayastanbiūnaka aḥaqqun huwa qul ī warabbī innahu laḥaqqun wamā antum bimuʿ'jizīn

10:54

وَلَوۡ أَنَّ لِكُلِّ نَفۡسࣲ ظَلَمَتۡ مَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَٱفۡتَدَتۡ بِهِۦۗ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَۖ وَقُضِیَ بَیۡنَهُم بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝٥٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And every soul that has sinned, if it had all (the treasure) that is on earth; It would gladly give it (the treasure) in ransom: (But it will not be accepted, such souls), they would declare (their) repentance when they see the Penalty: But the judgment between them will be just, and no wrong will be done to them

walaw anna likulli nafsin ẓalamat mā fī l-arḍi la-if'tadat bihi wa-asarrū l-nadāmata lammā ra-awū l-ʿadhāba waquḍiya baynahum bil-qis'ṭi wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn

10:55

أَلَاۤ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَلَاۤ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقࣱّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٥٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Is it not that to Allah belongs whatever that is in the heavens and on the earth? Is it not that Allah’s promise is definitely true? But most of them do not understand

alā inna lillahi mā fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi alā inna waʿda l-lahi ḥaqqun walākinna aktharahum lā yaʿlamūn

10:56

هُوَ یُحۡیِۦ وَیُمِیتُ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٥٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

It is He Who gives life and Who causes death, and to Him, all of you shall be brought back

huwa yuḥ'yī wayumītu wa-ilayhi tur'jaʿūn

10:57

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَاۤءَتۡكُم مَّوۡعِظَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَشِفَاۤءࣱ لِّمَا فِی ٱلصُّدُورِ وَهُدࣰى وَرَحۡمَةࣱ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

O Mankind! There has come good advice (and guidance) to you from your Lord and a cure for (what is) in your breasts (hearts)— And for those who believe, a Guidance and a Mercy

yāayyuhā l-nāsu qad jāatkum mawʿiẓatun min rabbikum washifāon limā fī l-ṣudūri wahudan waraḥmatun lil'mu'minīn

10:58

قُلۡ بِفَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ وَبِرَحۡمَتِهِۦ فَبِذَ ٰلِكَ فَلۡیَفۡرَحُوا۟ هُوَ خَیۡرࣱ مِّمَّا یَجۡمَعُونَ ۝٥٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "In the Bounty of Allah and in His Mercy— In that let them find joy (and happiness):" That is better than (the wealth) they (greedily) save

qul bifaḍli l-lahi wabiraḥmatihi fabidhālika falyafraḥū huwa khayrun mimmā yajmaʿūn

10:59

قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتُم مَّاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُم مِّن رِّزۡقࣲ فَجَعَلۡتُم مِّنۡهُ حَرَامࣰا وَحَلَـٰلࣰا قُلۡ ءَاۤللَّهُ أَذِنَ لَكُمۡۖ أَمۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَفۡتَرُونَ ۝٥٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "Do you see what provision Allah has sent down to you for your living? And you make (some) unlawful (from the provision) and (you make some things) lawful." Say: "Has Allah really permitted you, or do you make up (things) to attribute to Allah?"

qul ara-aytum mā anzala l-lahu lakum min riz'qin fajaʿaltum min'hu ḥarāman waḥalālan qul āllahu adhina lakum am ʿalā l-lahi taftarūn

10:60

وَمَا ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا یَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٦٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And what do those who make up lies against Allah, think of the Day of Judgment? Surely, Allah is full of Bounty to mankind, but most of them are ungrateful

wamā ẓannu alladhīna yaftarūna ʿalā l-lahi l-kadhiba yawma l-qiyāmati inna l-laha ladhū faḍlin ʿalā l-nāsi walākinna aktharahum lā yashkurūn

10:61

وَمَا تَكُونُ فِی شَأۡنࣲ وَمَا تَتۡلُوا۟ مِنۡهُ مِن قُرۡءَانࣲ وَلَا تَعۡمَلُونَ مِنۡ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا كُنَّا عَلَیۡكُمۡ شُهُودًا إِذۡ تُفِیضُونَ فِیهِۚ وَمَا یَعۡزُبُ عَن رَّبِّكَ مِن مِّثۡقَالِ ذَرَّةࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَلَاۤ أَصۡغَرَ مِن ذَ ٰلِكَ وَلَاۤ أَكۡبَرَ إِلَّا فِی كِتَـٰبࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٦١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Whatever business you may be in— Whatever part of the Quran you may be saying— And whatever act you may be doing— Still, We are witnesses to them (all); When you are deep in thought about them. And there is nothing (as little as) the weight of an atom that is hidden from your Lord on the earth or in the heaven. And not the least, and not the greatest of these things happen except what are recorded in a clear Record

wamā takūnu fī shanin wamā tatlū min'hu min qur'ānin walā taʿmalūna min ʿamalin illā kunnā ʿalaykum shuhūdan idh tufīḍūna fīhi wamā yaʿzubu ʿan rabbika min mith'qāli dharratin fī l-arḍi walā fī l-samāi walā aṣghara min dhālika walā akbara illā fī kitābin mubīni

10:62

أَلَاۤ إِنَّ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یَحۡزَنُونَ ۝٦٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Look! Surely upon the friends and allies of Allah, no fear shall befall upon them; Nor they shall grieve

alā inna awliyāa l-lahi lā khawfun ʿalayhim walā hum yaḥzanūn

10:63

ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ یَتَّقُونَ ۝٦٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(They are) those who believe and guard against evil:— And fear Alla

alladhīna āmanū wakānū yattaqūn

10:64

لَهُمُ ٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَفِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِۚ لَا تَبۡدِیلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝٦٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

For them is happy news, in the present life and in the Hereafter: There can be no change in the Words of Allah. This is truly the supreme (and greatest) happiness

lahumu l-bush'rā fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā wafī l-ākhirati lā tabdīla likalimāti l-lahi dhālika huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīm

10:65

وَلَا یَحۡزُنكَ قَوۡلُهُمۡۘ إِنَّ ٱلۡعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِیعًاۚ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٦٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Do not let their (disbelievers) talk make you sad: Because all the power and honor belongs to Allah: He is All Hearing (Sami’), All Knowing (Aleem)

walā yaḥzunka qawluhum inna l-ʿizata lillahi jamīʿan huwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

10:66

أَلَاۤ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَن فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَمَا یَتَّبِعُ ٱلَّذِینَ یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ شُرَكَاۤءَۚ إِن یَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا یَخۡرُصُونَ ۝٦٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Look! Surely to Allah belong all creatures in the heavens and on the earth. And those (disbelievers) who worship others beside Allah, do not indeed, follow the ‘partners’; They follow nothing but (false) thoughts, and they (say) nothing but lies

alā inna lillahi man fī l-samāwāti waman fī l-arḍi wamā yattabiʿu alladhīna yadʿūna min dūni l-lahi shurakāa in yattabiʿūna illā l-ẓana wa-in hum illā yakhruṣūn

10:67

هُوَ ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّیۡلَ لِتَسۡكُنُوا۟ فِیهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبۡصِرًاۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَسۡمَعُونَ ۝٦٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

It is He Who has made the night for you so that you may rest in it, and the day to make things to be seen (by you). Surely in this are (His) Signs for those who listen (to His Message)

huwa alladhī jaʿala lakumu al-layla litaskunū fīhi wal-nahāra mub'ṣiran inna fī dhālika laāyātin liqawmin yasmaʿūn

10:68

قَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدࣰاۗ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥۖ هُوَ ٱلۡغَنِیُّۖ لَهُۥ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ إِنۡ عِندَكُم مِّن سُلۡطَـٰنِۭ بِهَـٰذَاۤۚ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٦٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They say, "Allah has fathered a son!"— Glory be to Him! He (Allah) is Self-Sufficient! His are all things in the heavens and on earth! No reason do you have for this (lie about Allah)! Do you say about Allah what you do not know

qālū ittakhadha l-lahu waladan sub'ḥānahu huwa l-ghaniyu lahu mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi in ʿindakum min sul'ṭānin bihādhā ataqūlūna ʿalā l-lahi mā lā taʿlamūn

10:69

قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ لَا یُفۡلِحُونَ ۝٦٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "Verily, Those who make up a lie against Allah will never succeed."

qul inna alladhīna yaftarūna ʿalā l-lahi l-kadhiba lā yuf'liḥūn

10:70

مَتَـٰعࣱ فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَا ثُمَّ إِلَیۡنَا مَرۡجِعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ نُذِیقُهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلشَّدِیدَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٧٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(A little) enjoyment in this world! And then, their return will be to Us. Then We shall make them taste the harshest penalty for their lies (and falsehood about Allah)

matāʿun fī l-dun'yā thumma ilaynā marjiʿuhum thumma nudhīquhumu l-ʿadhāba l-shadīda bimā kānū yakfurūn

10:71

۞ وَٱتۡلُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ نُوحٍ إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦ یَـٰقَوۡمِ إِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَیۡكُم مَّقَامِی وَتَذۡكِیرِی بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُ فَأَجۡمِعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَكُمۡ وَشُرَكَاۤءَكُمۡ ثُمَّ لَا یَكُنۡ أَمۡرُكُمۡ عَلَیۡكُمۡ غُمَّةࣰ ثُمَّ ٱقۡضُوۤا۟ إِلَیَّ وَلَا تُنظِرُونِ ۝٧١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And recite to them the story of Nuh (Noah). When he said to his people: "O my people! If it is difficult for your (minds) that I should stay (with you) and tell (you) the Signs of Allah— Still I put my trust in Allah, then you get an agreement about your plan and among your 'partners', so that your plan for you is not dark and dubious. Then pass your judgment about me, and give me no (special) consideration or relief

wa-ut'lu ʿalayhim naba-a nūḥin idh qāla liqawmihi yāqawmi in kāna kabura ʿalaykum maqāmī watadhkīrī biāyāti l-lahi faʿalā l-lahi tawakkaltu fa-ajmiʿū amrakum washurakāakum thumma lā yakun amrukum ʿalaykum ghummatan thumma iq'ḍū ilayya walā tunẓirūn

10:72

فَإِن تَوَلَّیۡتُمۡ فَمَا سَأَلۡتُكُم مِّنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٧٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"But if you can not do this, (then remember): I have asked no reward from you: My reward is to come only from Allah, and I have been ordered to be from those (people) who bow (down) to Allah’s Will (in Islam)."

fa-in tawallaytum famā sa-altukum min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā l-lahi wa-umir'tu an akūna mina l-mus'limīn

10:73

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ خَلَـٰۤىِٕفَ وَأَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝٧٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They rejected him, but We saved him, and those with him in the Ark, and We made them take over (the earth), generation replacing one after another while We overpowered in the Flood those who rejected Our Signs (verses). Then, see what was the end of those who were warned. (But did not pay attention)

fakadhabūhu fanajjaynāhu waman maʿahu fī l-ful'ki wajaʿalnāhum khalāifa wa-aghraqnā alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā fa-unẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mundharīn

10:74

ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ رُسُلًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِمۡ فَجَاۤءُوهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ فَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِیُؤۡمِنُوا۟ بِمَا كَذَّبُوا۟ بِهِۦ مِن قَبۡلُۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَطۡبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُعۡتَدِینَ ۝٧٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Then after him, We sent messengers to their people: They (messengers) brought them clear proofs (of Allah), but they would not believe what they had already rejected before. Like this, We do close the hearts of those who transgress their limits

thumma baʿathnā min baʿdihi rusulan ilā qawmihim fajāūhum bil-bayināti famā kānū liyu'minū bimā kadhabū bihi min qablu kadhālika naṭbaʿu ʿalā qulūbi l-muʿ'tadīn

10:75

ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِم مُّوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِۦ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوۡمࣰا مُّجۡرِمِینَ ۝٧٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Then after them We sent Musa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron) to Firon (Pharaoh) and his chiefs with Our Signs (verses), but they were proud: They were people in sin (and crime)

thumma baʿathnā min baʿdihim mūsā wahārūna ilā fir'ʿawna wamala-ihi biāyātinā fa-is'takbarū wakānū qawman muj'rimīn

10:76

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٧٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

So when the Truth did come to them from Us, they said: "This is really clear magic!"

falammā jāahumu l-ḥaqu min ʿindinā qālū inna hādhā lasiḥ'run mubīnu

10:77

قَالَ مُوسَىٰۤ أَتَقُولُونَ لِلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاۤءَكُمۡۖ أَسِحۡرٌ هَـٰذَا وَلَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلسَّـٰحِرُونَ ۝٧٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Musa (Moses) said: "Do you say (this) about Truth when it has (actually) come to you? Is this (like) magic? But magicians will not prosper."

qāla mūsā ataqūlūna lil'ḥaqqi lammā jāakum asiḥ'run hādhā walā yuf'liḥu l-sāḥirūn

10:78

قَالُوۤا۟ أَجِئۡتَنَا لِتَلۡفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ ءَابَاۤءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا ٱلۡكِبۡرِیَاۤءُ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٧٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They said: "Have you come to us to turn us away from the way (that) we found our fathers following— So that you two, (Musa) and your brother (Haroon) may have fame in the land? But we shall not believe in you!"

qālū aji'tanā litalfitanā ʿammā wajadnā ʿalayhi ābāanā watakūna lakumā l-kib'riyāu fī l-arḍi wamā naḥnu lakumā bimu'minīn

10:79

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ٱئۡتُونِی بِكُلِّ سَـٰحِرٍ عَلِیمࣲ ۝٧٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And said Firon (Pharaoh): "Bring me every magician who is very good (in magic)."

waqāla fir'ʿawnu i'tūnī bikulli sāḥirin ʿalīmi

10:80

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰۤ أَلۡقُوا۟ مَاۤ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَ ۝٨٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And when the magicians came, Musa (Moses) said to them: "You throw whatever you (want) to throw!"

falammā jāa l-saḥaratu qāla lahum mūsā alqū mā antum mul'qūn

10:81

فَلَمَّاۤ أَلۡقَوۡا۟ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ مَا جِئۡتُم بِهِ ٱلسِّحۡرُۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَیُبۡطِلُهُۥۤ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یُصۡلِحُ عَمَلَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٨١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

When they finished their throw, Musa (Moses) said: "What you have brought is magic: Surely, Allah will make it have no effect: Verily, Allah does not grant success to the work of those who do evil and mischief."

falammā alqaw qāla mūsā mā ji'tum bihi l-siḥ'ru inna l-laha sayub'ṭiluhu inna l-laha lā yuṣ'liḥu ʿamala l-muf'sidīn

10:82

وَیُحِقُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡحَقَّ بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٨٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And by His Words, Allah proves and establishes His Truth, however much the sinners may dislike it

wayuḥiqqu l-lahu l-ḥaqa bikalimātihi walaw kariha l-muj'rimūn

10:83

فَمَاۤ ءَامَنَ لِمُوسَىٰۤ إِلَّا ذُرِّیَّةࣱ مِّن قَوۡمِهِۦ عَلَىٰ خَوۡفࣲ مِّن فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِمۡ أَن یَفۡتِنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّ فِرۡعَوۡنَ لَعَالࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝٨٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

But no one believed in Musa (Moses) except some offspring of his people, because of the fear of men, Firon (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, in case they should punish them; And Firon (Pharaoh) was really arrogant and cruel on the earth and one who exceeded all limits

famā āmana limūsā illā dhurriyyatun min qawmihi ʿalā khawfin min fir'ʿawna wamala-ihim an yaftinahum wa-inna fir'ʿawna laʿālin fī l-arḍi wa-innahu lamina l-mus'rifīn

10:84

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ یَـٰقَوۡمِ إِن كُنتُمۡ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ فَعَلَیۡهِ تَوَكَّلُوۤا۟ إِن كُنتُم مُّسۡلِمِینَ ۝٨٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Musa (Moses) said: "O my People! If you (really) believe in Allah, then put your trust in Him (and) you bow (to His Will) if you are Muslims.”

waqāla mūsā yāqawmi in kuntum āmantum bil-lahi faʿalayhi tawakkalū in kuntum mus'limīn

10:85

فَقَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةࣰ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٨٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They said: "We do put our trust in Allah. Our Lord! Do not make us a trial for those who act in cruelty and who are the wrongdoers

faqālū ʿalā l-lahi tawakkalnā rabbanā lā tajʿalnā fit'natan lil'qawmi l-ẓālimīn

10:86

وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحۡمَتِكَ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٨٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"And with Your Mercy, save us from those who reject (You)."

wanajjinā biraḥmatika mina l-qawmi l-kāfirīn

10:87

وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَأَخِیهِ أَن تَبَوَّءَا لِقَوۡمِكُمَا بِمِصۡرَ بُیُوتࣰا وَٱجۡعَلُوا۟ بُیُوتَكُمۡ قِبۡلَةࣰ وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We inspired Musa (Moses) and his brother with this message: "Make homes for your people in Egypt, make your homes into places of worship, and practice regular prayers: And give the happy news to those who believe!"

wa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā wa-akhīhi an tabawwaā liqawmikumā bimiṣ'ra buyūtan wa-ij'ʿalū buyūtakum qib'latan wa-aqīmū l-ṣalata wabashiri l-mu'minīn

10:88

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَاۤ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَیۡتَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَأَهُۥ زِینَةࣰ وَأَمۡوَ ٰلࣰا فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا رَبَّنَا لِیُضِلُّوا۟ عَن سَبِیلِكَۖ رَبَّنَا ٱطۡمِسۡ عَلَىٰۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلِهِمۡ وَٱشۡدُدۡ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَلَا یُؤۡمِنُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ یَرَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِیمَ ۝٨٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Musa (Moses) prayed: "Our Lord! You have truly granted to Firon (Pharaoh) and his Chiefs fame and wealth in the life of the present, and so our Lord, they mislead (others) from Your Path. Our Lord! Destroy the power of their wealth, and send hardness (and suffering) to their hearts, so much so they will not believe till they have seen the great penalty."

waqāla mūsā rabbanā innaka ātayta fir'ʿawna wamala-ahu zīnatan wa-amwālan fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā rabbanā liyuḍillū ʿan sabīlika rabbanā iṭ'mis ʿalā amwālihim wa-ush'dud ʿalā qulūbihim falā yu'minū ḥattā yarawū l-ʿadhāba l-alīm

10:89

قَالَ قَدۡ أُجِیبَت دَّعۡوَتُكُمَا فَٱسۡتَقِیمَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعَاۤنِّ سَبِیلَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٨٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Allah said: "Your prayer is accepted (O Musa and Haroon)! So you stand straight, and do not follow the path of those who do not know."

qāla qad ujībat daʿwatukumā fa-is'taqīmā walā tattabiʿānni sabīla alladhīna lā yaʿlamūn

10:90

۞ وَجَـٰوَزۡنَا بِبَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُمۡ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ بَغۡیࣰا وَعَدۡوًاۖ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَاۤ أَدۡرَكَهُ ٱلۡغَرَقُ قَالَ ءَامَنتُ أَنَّهُۥ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِیۤ ءَامَنَتۡ بِهِۦ بَنُوۤا۟ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٩٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We took the Children of Israel across the sea: Firon (Pharaoh) and his armies followed them with pride and anger. At the end, when overpowered with flood, he said: "I believe that there is no god except He in Whom the Children of Israel believe: I am of those who bow (to Allah in Islam)."

wajāwaznā bibanī is'rāīla l-baḥra fa-atbaʿahum fir'ʿawnu wajunūduhu baghyan waʿadwan ḥattā idhā adrakahu l-gharaqu qāla āmantu annahu lā ilāha illā alladhī āmanat bihi banū is'rāīla wa-anā mina l-mus'limīn

10:91

ءَاۤلۡءَـٰنَ وَقَدۡ عَصَیۡتَ قَبۡلُ وَكُنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٩١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(It was said to him:) Oh now! But just a little while before, you were in (angry) revolt! And you did mischief (and violence)

āl'āna waqad ʿaṣayta qablu wakunta mina l-muf'sidīn

10:92

فَٱلۡیَوۡمَ نُنَجِّیكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُونَ لِمَنۡ خَلۡفَكَ ءَایَةࣰۚ وَإِنَّ كَثِیرࣰا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَنۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا لَغَـٰفِلُونَ ۝٩٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

This day We shall save you in (your dead) body, so that you may be a sign to those who come after you! But surely, many from the mankind are careless of Our Signs

fal-yawma nunajjīka bibadanika litakūna liman khalfaka āyatan wa-inna kathīran mina l-nāsi ʿan āyātinā laghāfilūn

10:93

وَلَقَدۡ بَوَّأۡنَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ مُبَوَّأَ صِدۡقࣲ وَرَزَقۡنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِ فَمَا ٱخۡتَلَفُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ جَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡعِلۡمُۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ یَقۡضِی بَیۡنَهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فِیمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝٩٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

We made home for the Children of Israel in a beautiful place to live, and gave to them sustenance of the best (kind): It was after wisdom had been given to them, that they divided into (various) groups. Surely, Allah will judge among them about their groups, on the Day of Judgment

walaqad bawwanā banī is'rāīla mubawwa-a ṣid'qin warazaqnāhum mina l-ṭayibāti famā ikh'talafū ḥattā jāahumu l-ʿil'mu inna rabbaka yaqḍī baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn

10:94

فَإِن كُنتَ فِی شَكࣲّ مِّمَّاۤ أَنزَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ فَسۡءَلِ ٱلَّذِینَ یَقۡرَءُونَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبۡلِكَۚ لَقَدۡ جَاۤءَكَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُمۡتَرِینَ ۝٩٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

If you were in doubt about what We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Book from before you: Verily, the Truth has really come to you from your Lord: So do not be in any way of those in doubt

fa-in kunta fī shakkin mimmā anzalnā ilayka fasali alladhīna yaqraūna l-kitāba min qablika laqad jāaka l-ḥaqu min rabbika falā takūnanna mina l-mum'tarīn

10:95

وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِینَ ۝٩٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And do not be of those who reject the Signs (verses) of Allah, or you shall be of those who will perish

walā takūnanna mina alladhīna kadhabū biāyāti l-lahi fatakūna mina l-khāsirīn

10:96

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ حَقَّتۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٩٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Truly, those against whom the Word of the Lord has been proved, (also) would not believe—

inna alladhīna ḥaqqat ʿalayhim kalimatu rabbika lā yu'minūn

10:97

وَلَوۡ جَاۤءَتۡهُمۡ كُلُّ ءَایَةٍ حَتَّىٰ یَرَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِیمَ ۝٩٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Even if every Sign was brought to them— Until they (themselves) see the great penalty

walaw jāathum kullu āyatin ḥattā yarawū l-ʿadhāba l-alīm

10:98

فَلَوۡلَا كَانَتۡ قَرۡیَةٌ ءَامَنَتۡ فَنَفَعَهَاۤ إِیمَـٰنُهَاۤ إِلَّا قَوۡمَ یُونُسَ لَمَّاۤ ءَامَنُوا۟ كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخِزۡیِ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَمَتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝٩٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Was there not a single township of people (among those We warned), which believed— So that its faith should have helped it— Except the people of Yunus (Jonah)? When they believed, We removed from them the penalty of dishonor in the present life, and let them to enjoy (their lives) for a while

falawlā kānat qaryatun āmanat fanafaʿahā īmānuhā illā qawma yūnusa lammā āmanū kashafnā ʿanhum ʿadhāba l-khiz'yi fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā wamattaʿnāhum ilā ḥīni

10:99

وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ رَبُّكَ لَءَامَنَ مَن فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كُلُّهُمۡ جَمِیعًاۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُكۡرِهُ ٱلنَّاسَ حَتَّىٰ یَكُونُوا۟ مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٩٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

If it had been your Lords Will all of them would have believed— All who are on earth! (But) will you then compel mankind, against their will, to believe

walaw shāa rabbuka laāmana man fī l-arḍi kulluhum jamīʿan afa-anta tuk'rihu l-nāsa ḥattā yakūnū mu'minīn

10:100

وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفۡسٍ أَن تُؤۡمِنَ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَیَجۡعَلُ ٱلرِّجۡسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٠٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

No soul can believe, except by the Will of Allah, and He will place (basic) doubt on those who will not understand

wamā kāna linafsin an tu'mina illā bi-idh'ni l-lahi wayajʿalu l-rij'sa ʿalā alladhīna lā yaʿqilūn

10:101

قُلِ ٱنظُرُوا۟ مَاذَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَا تُغۡنِی ٱلۡءَایَـٰتُ وَٱلنُّذُرُ عَن قَوۡمࣲ لَّا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٠١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "Behold! All that is in the heavens and on the earth;" But neither Sign nor warners can help those who do not believe

quli unẓurū mādhā fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā tugh'nī l-āyātu wal-nudhuru ʿan qawmin lā yu'minūn

10:102

فَهَلۡ یَنتَظِرُونَ إِلَّا مِثۡلَ أَیَّامِ ٱلَّذِینَ خَلَوۡا۟ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ قُلۡ فَٱنتَظِرُوۤا۟ إِنِّی مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُنتَظِرِینَ ۝١٠٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Then do they expect (anything) different from (what happened in) the days of men who passed away before them? Say: "Then you wait: Because I, also, will wait with you among those who wait."

fahal yantaẓirūna illā mith'la ayyāmi alladhīna khalaw min qablihim qul fa-intaẓirū innī maʿakum mina l-muntaẓirīn

10:103

ثُمَّ نُنَجِّی رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ حَقًّا عَلَیۡنَا نُنجِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٠٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

In the end We save Our messengers and those who believe: Thus it is right on Our part that We should save those who believe

thumma nunajjī rusulanā wa-alladhīna āmanū kadhālika ḥaqqan ʿalaynā nunji l-mu'minīn

10:104

قُلۡ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمۡ فِی شَكࣲّ مِّن دِینِی فَلَاۤ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِینَ تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِنۡ أَعۡبُدُ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِی یَتَوَفَّىٰكُمۡۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٠٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say (O Muhammad): "O you men! If you are in doubt about my religion, (look!) I do not worship what you worship, other than Allah! But I worship Allah Who will take back your souls: I am ordered to be among the believers

qul yāayyuhā l-nāsu in kuntum fī shakkin min dīnī falā aʿbudu alladhīna taʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi walākin aʿbudu l-laha alladhī yatawaffākum wa-umir'tu an akūna mina l-mu'minīn

10:105

وَأَنۡ أَقِمۡ وَجۡهَكَ لِلدِّینِ حَنِیفࣰا وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝١٠٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"And further (that): 'Set your face to religion with true (and complete) devotion, and never in any way be of the idolaters (disbelievers)

wa-an aqim wajhaka lilddīni ḥanīfan walā takūnanna mina l-mush'rikīn

10:106

وَلَا تَدۡعُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَنفَعُكَ وَلَا یَضُرُّكَۖ فَإِن فَعَلۡتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذࣰا مِّنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٠٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

" 'And do not pray to any other than Allah— Such (others) will neither help you nor hurt you: If you do, look! You shall truly be from those who do wrong.' "

walā tadʿu min dūni l-lahi mā lā yanfaʿuka walā yaḍurruka fa-in faʿalta fa-innaka idhan mina l-ẓālimīn

10:107

وَإِن یَمۡسَسۡكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرࣲّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥۤ إِلَّا هُوَۖ وَإِن یُرِدۡكَ بِخَیۡرࣲ فَلَا رَاۤدَّ لِفَضۡلِهِۦۚ یُصِیبُ بِهِۦ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٠٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And if Allah touches you with harm, there is no one who can remove it except He: And if He plans some benefit for you, then there is no one who can keep back His mercy: He makes it reach whoever of His servants that He pleases. And He is the Often Forgiving (Al-Ghafoor), the Most Merciful (Ar-Raheem)

wa-in yamsaska l-lahu biḍurrin falā kāshifa lahu illā huwa wa-in yurid'ka bikhayrin falā rādda lifaḍlihi yuṣību bihi man yashāu min ʿibādihi wahuwa l-ghafūru l-raḥīm

10:108

قُلۡ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَاۤءَكُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ فَمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا یَهۡتَدِی لِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا یَضِلُّ عَلَیۡهَاۖ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ عَلَیۡكُم بِوَكِیلࣲ ۝١٠٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "O you men! Now the Truth has reached you from your Lord! Those who receive guidance, will do so for the good of their own souls; Those who wander, do so to their own loss: And I am not (sent) over you to fix your affairs (for you)."

qul yāayyuhā l-nāsu qad jāakumu l-ḥaqu min rabbikum famani ih'tadā fa-innamā yahtadī linafsihi waman ḍalla fa-innamā yaḍillu ʿalayhā wamā anā ʿalaykum biwakīli

10:109

وَٱتَّبِعۡ مَا یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیۡكَ وَٱصۡبِرۡ حَتَّىٰ یَحۡكُمَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَهُوَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡحَـٰكِمِینَ ۝١٠٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And, you (O Muhammad!) follow the revelation sent to you, and be patient and constant, till Allah will decide: And He is the Best of (all) the judges (Qha’ir-ul-Hakimeen)

wa-ittabiʿ mā yūḥā ilayka wa-iṣ'bir ḥattā yaḥkuma l-lahu wahuwa khayru l-ḥākimīn
