1 Revelation testified by Nature

۞ أَتَىٰۤ أَمۡرُ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُوهُۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١

Allah’s command has come, so do not hasten it. Glorified is Him; and exalted about what they are associating.

atā amru l-lahi falā tastaʿjilūhu sub'ḥānahu wataʿālā ʿammā yush'rikūn

یُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ بِٱلرُّوحِ مِنۡ أَمۡرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۤ أَنۡ أَنذِرُوۤا۟ أَنَّهُۥ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّاۤ أَنَا۠ فَٱتَّقُونِ ۝٢

He sends down the angels with the Spirit among His command, upon whoever He wills among His slaves: “Surely warn that there is no God except Me, so show the piety of Me.”

yunazzilu l-malāikata bil-rūḥi min amrihi ʿalā man yashāu min ʿibādihi an andhirū annahu lā ilāha illā anā fa-ittaqūn

خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ تَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٣

He created the skies and the earth with the right. He is exalted about what they are associating.

khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa bil-ḥaqi taʿālā ʿammā yush'rikūn

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطۡفَةࣲ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِیمࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٤

He created the human from a sperm-drop, so behold he is an obvious opponent.

khalaqa l-insāna min nuṭ'fatin fa-idhā huwa khaṣīmun mubīnu

وَٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمَ خَلَقَهَاۖ لَكُمۡ فِیهَا دِفۡءࣱ وَمَنَـٰفِعُ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٥

And the livestock, He created them for you. Within them are warmth and benefits, and from it you are eating.

wal-anʿāma khalaqahā lakum fīhā dif'on wamanāfiʿu wamin'hā takulūn

وَلَكُمۡ فِیهَا جَمَالٌ حِینَ تُرِیحُونَ وَحِینَ تَسۡرَحُونَ ۝٦

And for you within them a beauty, when you are resting, and when you are sending them out.

walakum fīhā jamālun ḥīna turīḥūna waḥīna tasraḥūn

وَتَحۡمِلُ أَثۡقَالَكُمۡ إِلَىٰ بَلَدࣲ لَّمۡ تَكُونُوا۟ بَـٰلِغِیهِ إِلَّا بِشِقِّ ٱلۡأَنفُسِۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكُمۡ لَرَءُوفࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝٧

And they carry your heavy loads to a town you could not have reached except with the breath's exertion. Surely Your Lord is A Clement, Merciful.

wataḥmilu athqālakum ilā baladin lam takūnū bālighīhi illā bishiqqi l-anfusi inna rabbakum laraūfun raḥīmu

وَٱلۡخَیۡلَ وَٱلۡبِغَالَ وَٱلۡحَمِیرَ لِتَرۡكَبُوهَا وَزِینَةࣰۚ وَیَخۡلُقُ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٨

And the horses, and the mules, and the donkeys, to ride them, and for adornment. And He creates what you are not knowing.

wal-khayla wal-bighāla wal-ḥamīra litarkabūhā wazīnatan wayakhluqu mā lā taʿlamūn

وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ قَصۡدُ ٱلسَّبِیلِ وَمِنۡهَا جَاۤىِٕرࣱۚ وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ لَهَدَىٰكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٩

And upon Allah the pathway’s endeavor, and from them are inequitable. And had He willed; He would have guided you all.

waʿalā l-lahi qaṣdu l-sabīli wamin'hā jāirun walaw shāa lahadākum ajmaʿīn

2 Nature upholds Unity

هُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰۖ لَّكُم مِّنۡهُ شَرَابࣱ وَمِنۡهُ شَجَرࣱ فِیهِ تُسِیمُونَ ۝١٠

He is the one Who sends down for you from the sky water. From it for you is a drink, and from it trees within it you are pasturing.

huwa alladhī anzala mina l-samāi māan lakum min'hu sharābun wamin'hu shajarun fīhi tusīmūn

یُنۢبِتُ لَكُم بِهِ ٱلزَّرۡعَ وَٱلزَّیۡتُونَ وَٱلنَّخِیلَ وَٱلۡأَعۡنَـٰبَ وَمِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَ ٰتِۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَتَفَكَّرُونَ ۝١١

He plants for you the vegetation by it, and the olives, and the date-palms, and the grapes, and from all the fruitage. Surely, within that is a verse for a kinfolk who think.

yunbitu lakum bihi l-zarʿa wal-zaytūna wal-nakhīla wal-aʿnāba wamin kulli l-thamarāti inna fī dhālika laāyatan liqawmin yatafakkarūn

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّیۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَۖ وَٱلنُّجُومُ مُسَخَّرَ ٰتُۢ بِأَمۡرِهِۦۤۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٢

And He subserviated for you the night and the day; and the sun, and the moon, and the stars are subservient with His command. Surely, within that is verses for a reasoning kinfolk.

wasakhara lakumu al-layla wal-nahāra wal-shamsa wal-qamara wal-nujūmu musakharātun bi-amrihi inna fī dhālika laāyātin liqawmin yaʿqilūn

وَمَا ذَرَأَ لَكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُخۡتَلِفًا أَلۡوَ ٰنُهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَذَّكَّرُونَ ۝١٣

And whatsoever He produces for you in the earth different its colors. Surely, within that is a verse for a kinfolk who remember.

wamā dhara-a lakum fī l-arḍi mukh'talifan alwānuhu inna fī dhālika laāyatan liqawmin yadhakkarūn

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی سَخَّرَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ لِتَأۡكُلُوا۟ مِنۡهُ لَحۡمࣰا طَرِیࣰّا وَتَسۡتَخۡرِجُوا۟ مِنۡهُ حِلۡیَةࣰ تَلۡبَسُونَهَاۖ وَتَرَى ٱلۡفُلۡكَ مَوَاخِرَ فِیهِ وَلِتَبۡتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝١٤

And He is the one who subserviated the sea for you, to eat from it, soft meat, and to exit out ornaments from it, you wear them. And you see the arks cleaving, through it and to seek from His bounty, and perhaps you may be thankful.

wahuwa alladhī sakhara l-baḥra litakulū min'hu laḥman ṭariyyan watastakhrijū min'hu ḥil'yatan talbasūnahā watarā l-ful'ka mawākhira fīhi walitabtaghū min faḍlihi walaʿallakum tashkurūn

وَأَلۡقَىٰ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَوَ ٰسِیَ أَن تَمِیدَ بِكُمۡ وَأَنۡهَـٰرࣰا وَسُبُلࣰا لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تَهۡتَدُونَ ۝١٥

And he threw stabilizers mountains in it, lest it be shaken by you; and rivers, and pathways, perhaps you may guide.

wa-alqā fī l-arḍi rawāsiya an tamīda bikum wa-anhāran wasubulan laʿallakum tahtadūn

وَعَلَـٰمَـٰتࣲۚ وَبِٱلنَّجۡمِ هُمۡ یَهۡتَدُونَ ۝١٦

And landmarks, and by the stars they find guidance.

waʿalāmātin wabil-najmi hum yahtadūn

أَفَمَن یَخۡلُقُ كَمَن لَّا یَخۡلُقُۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝١٧

So is He who creates, like him who does not create? So, will yourselves not be remembering?

afaman yakhluqu kaman lā yakhluqu afalā tadhakkarūn

وَإِن تَعُدُّوا۟ نِعۡمَةَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحۡصُوهَاۤۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝١٨

And if you count Allah’s graces, you will not enumerate them. Surely Allah is Forgiver, Merciful.

wa-in taʿuddū niʿ'mata l-lahi lā tuḥ'ṣūhā inna l-laha laghafūrun raḥīmu

وَٱللَّهُ یَعۡلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعۡلِنُونَ ۝١٩

And Allah knows what you are secreting and what you are announcing.

wal-lahu yaʿlamu mā tusirrūna wamā tuʿ'linūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا یَخۡلُقُونَ شَیۡءࣰا وَهُمۡ یُخۡلَقُونَ ۝٢٠

And those who are being called without Allah are not creating a thing, and they are created.

wa-alladhīna yadʿūna min dūni l-lahi lā yakhluqūna shayan wahum yukh'laqūn

أَمۡوَ ٰتٌ غَیۡرُ أَحۡیَاۤءࣲۖ وَمَا یَشۡعُرُونَ أَیَّانَ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝٢١

They are dead, not alive; and they are unaware when they will be raised.

amwātun ghayru aḥyāin wamā yashʿurūna ayyāna yub'ʿathūn

3 Denial due to Ignorance

إِلَـٰهُكُمۡ إِلَـٰهࣱ وَ ٰحِدࣱۚ فَٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مُّنكِرَةࣱ وَهُم مُّسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝٢٢

Your God is one God. So, those who are not believing in the Hereafter, their cores are in denial, and they are arrogant.

ilāhukum ilāhun wāḥidun fa-alladhīna lā yu'minūna bil-ākhirati qulūbuhum munkiratun wahum mus'takbirūn

لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَعۡلَمُ مَا یُسِرُّونَ وَمَا یُعۡلِنُونَۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُسۡتَكۡبِرِینَ ۝٢٣

Assuredly that Allah knows what they are secreting, and what they are announcing. Surely, He doesn't love the arrogant.

lā jarama anna l-laha yaʿlamu mā yusirrūna wamā yuʿ'linūna innahu lā yuḥibbu l-mus'takbirīn

وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُم مَّاذَاۤ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمۡ قَالُوۤا۟ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٢٤

And if it is said to them, “What has your Lord sent down?” They say, “The formers’ Legends.”

wa-idhā qīla lahum mādhā anzala rabbukum qālū asāṭīru l-awalīn

لِیَحۡمِلُوۤا۟ أَوۡزَارَهُمۡ كَامِلَةࣰ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ وَمِنۡ أَوۡزَارِ ٱلَّذِینَ یُضِلُّونَهُم بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمٍۗ أَلَا سَاۤءَ مَا یَزِرُونَ ۝٢٥

To carry their burdens completely on The Resurrection Day, and among the burdens of those whom they are straying (them), without a knowledge. Verily wicked is what they are bearing.

liyaḥmilū awzārahum kāmilatan yawma l-qiyāmati wamin awzāri alladhīna yuḍillūnahum bighayri ʿil'min alā sāa mā yazirūn

4 Wicked meet Disgrace

قَدۡ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنۡیَـٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَوَاعِدِ فَخَرَّ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلسَّقۡفُ مِن فَوۡقِهِمۡ وَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ مِنۡ حَیۡثُ لَا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٢٦

Already those before them were guiled, so Allah came to their buildings from the foundations, so the roof collapsed upon them from above them. And the torment came at them from where they do not feel.

qad makara alladhīna min qablihim fa-atā l-lahu bun'yānahum mina l-qawāʿidi fakharra ʿalayhimu l-saqfu min fawqihim wa-atāhumu l-ʿadhābu min ḥaythu lā yashʿurūn

ثُمَّ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ یُخۡزِیهِمۡ وَیَقُولُ أَیۡنَ شُرَكَاۤءِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ كُنتُمۡ تُشَـٰۤقُّونَ فِیهِمۡۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ إِنَّ ٱلۡخِزۡیَ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ وَٱلسُّوۤءَ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٢٧

Then, on The Resurrection Day, He will disgrace them, and say, “Where are my associates those who you were opposing within them?” Those who were given the knowledge said, “Surely the disgrace Today and the badness are upon the infidels.”

thumma yawma l-qiyāmati yukh'zīhim wayaqūlu ayna shurakāiya alladhīna kuntum tushāqqūna fīhim qāla alladhīna ūtū l-ʿil'ma inna l-khiz'ya l-yawma wal-sūa ʿalā l-kāfirīn

ٱلَّذِینَ تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ ظَالِمِیۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡۖ فَأَلۡقَوُا۟ ٱلسَّلَمَ مَا كُنَّا نَعۡمَلُ مِن سُوۤءِۭۚ بَلَىٰۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِیمُۢ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٨

Those whom the angels decease (them) oppressing themselves, so they cast the surrender: “We were not working the bad.” Yes, surely Allah is Knowledgeable with what you were working on.”

alladhīna tatawaffāhumu l-malāikatu ẓālimī anfusihim fa-alqawū l-salama mā kunnā naʿmalu min sūin balā inna l-laha ʿalīmun bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

فَٱدۡخُلُوۤا۟ أَبۡوَ ٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۖ فَلَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَى ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِینَ ۝٢٩

So, enter Gohanam’s doors (Hell), immortals therein. So wicked is the arrogant’ dwell.

fa-ud'khulū abwāba jahannama khālidīna fīhā falabi'sa mathwā l-mutakabirīn

۞ وَقِیلَ لِلَّذِینَ ٱتَّقَوۡا۟ مَاذَاۤ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمۡۚ قَالُوا۟ خَیۡرࣰاۗ لِّلَّذِینَ أَحۡسَنُوا۟ فِی هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا حَسَنَةࣱۚ وَلَدَارُ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ خَیۡرࣱۚ وَلَنِعۡمَ دَارُ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٣٠

And it was said for those who showed piety, “What has your Lord sent down?” They said, “Goodness.” For those who excelled in this Dunya (world) an excellence, and The Hereafter Home is a goodness. And gracious is the pious’ home.

waqīla lilladhīna ittaqaw mādhā anzala rabbukum qālū khayran lilladhīna aḥsanū fī hādhihi l-dun'yā ḥasanatun waladāru l-ākhirati khayrun walaniʿ'ma dāru l-mutaqīn

جَنَّـٰتُ عَدۡنࣲ یَدۡخُلُونَهَا تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُۖ لَهُمۡ فِیهَا مَا یَشَاۤءُونَۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ یَجۡزِی ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٣١

Eden paradises, which they will enter them, beneath which the rivers are running, they have therein whatever they are wishing. Thus, Allah recompenses the pious.

jannātu ʿadnin yadkhulūnahā tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru lahum fīhā mā yashāūna kadhālika yajzī l-lahu l-mutaqīn

ٱلَّذِینَ تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ طَیِّبِینَ یَقُولُونَ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَیۡكُمُ ٱدۡخُلُوا۟ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٣٢

Those whom the angels decease them, Good. They (The angels) are saying, “Peace be upon you enter, The Paradise, with what you were working.”

alladhīna tatawaffāhumu l-malāikatu ṭayyibīna yaqūlūna salāmun ʿalaykumu ud'khulū l-janata bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

هَلۡ یَنظُرُونَ إِلَّاۤ أَن تَأۡتِیَهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ أَوۡ یَأۡتِیَ أَمۡرُ رَبِّكَۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ یَظۡلِمُونَ ۝٣٣

Are they waiting except that the angels should come to them, or your Lord’s command should come? Thus, those before them were done. And Allah did not oppress them, but themselves they were oppressing.

hal yanẓurūna illā an tatiyahumu l-malāikatu aw yatiya amru rabbika kadhālika faʿala alladhīna min qablihim wamā ẓalamahumu l-lahu walākin kānū anfusahum yaẓlimūn

فَأَصَابَهُمۡ سَیِّءَاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٣٤

So it was inflicting them, the badness of what they worked, and banded with them what they were ridiculing with it.

fa-aṣābahum sayyiātu mā ʿamilū waḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziūn

5 Prophets raised to explain

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ لَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا عَبَدۡنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَیۡءࣲ نَّحۡنُ وَلَاۤ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمۡنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَیۡءࣲۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ فَهَلۡ عَلَى ٱلرُّسُلِ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝٣٥

And those who associated said, “If Allah willed, we would not have worshiped without Him, of a thing neither of us, nor our parents, nor would we have forbidden without Him, of a thing.” Thus, those before them did. So is there upon the messengers except the obvious notification?

waqāla alladhīna ashrakū law shāa l-lahu mā ʿabadnā min dūnihi min shayin naḥnu walā ābāunā walā ḥarramnā min dūnihi min shayin kadhālika faʿala alladhīna min qablihim fahal ʿalā l-rusuli illā l-balāghu l-mubīn

وَلَقَدۡ بَعَثۡنَا فِی كُلِّ أُمَّةࣲ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجۡتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَۖ فَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ وَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ حَقَّتۡ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةُۚ فَسِیرُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٣٦

And already We missioned a messenger in every community: “That worship Allah and avoid the false god.” So, from them who Allah guided, and from them who the straying was truthed upon him. So, walk on the earth, so observe how it was the falsifiers consequence.

walaqad baʿathnā fī kulli ummatin rasūlan ani uʿ'budū l-laha wa-ij'tanibū l-ṭāghūta famin'hum man hadā l-lahu wamin'hum man ḥaqqat ʿalayhi l-ḍalālatu fasīrū fī l-arḍi fa-unẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mukadhibīn

إِن تَحۡرِصۡ عَلَىٰ هُدَىٰهُمۡ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یَهۡدِی مَن یُضِلُّۖ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِینَ ۝٣٧

If you are eager upon their guidance, then Allah does not guide those whoever He strays. And none for them from supporters.

in taḥriṣ ʿalā hudāhum fa-inna l-laha lā yahdī man yuḍillu wamā lahum min nāṣirīn

وَأَقۡسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهۡدَ أَیۡمَـٰنِهِمۡ لَا یَبۡعَثُ ٱللَّهُ مَن یَمُوتُۚ بَلَىٰ وَعۡدًا عَلَیۡهِ حَقࣰّا وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٨

And they swore by Allah with their most effort oaths, “Allah is not arising whoever dies.” Yes, it is a promise upon Him truly, (to arise who dies) but most people are not knowing.

wa-aqsamū bil-lahi jahda aymānihim lā yabʿathu l-lahu man yamūtu balā waʿdan ʿalayhi ḥaqqan walākinna akthara l-nāsi lā yaʿlamūn

لِیُبَیِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِی یَخۡتَلِفُونَ فِیهِ وَلِیَعۡلَمَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ أَنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ كَـٰذِبِینَ ۝٣٩

To demonstrate for them which they are differing within it, and let the disbelievers know that they were liars.

liyubayyina lahumu alladhī yakhtalifūna fīhi waliyaʿlama alladhīna kafarū annahum kānū kādhibīn

إِنَّمَا قَوۡلُنَا لِشَیۡءٍ إِذَاۤ أَرَدۡنَـٰهُ أَن نَّقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَیَكُونُ ۝٤٠

It is only our say for a thing when We wanted it, “Be,” so it is.

innamā qawlunā lishayin idhā aradnāhu an naqūla lahu kun fayakūn

6 Opponents' Doom

وَٱلَّذِینَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِی ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمۡ فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَا حَسَنَةࣰۖ وَلَأَجۡرُ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ أَكۡبَرُۚ لَوۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٤١

And Those who emigrated in Allah, after being oppressed, We will good settle on them in The Dunya (this world), an excellence; and the Hereafter wage is bigger, if they are knowing.

wa-alladhīna hājarū fī l-lahi min baʿdi mā ẓulimū lanubawwi-annahum fī l-dun'yā ḥasanatan wala-ajru l-ākhirati akbaru law kānū yaʿlamūn

ٱلَّذِینَ صَبَرُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ یَتَوَكَّلُونَ ۝٤٢

Those who are patient, and upon their Lord, they are relying.

alladhīna ṣabarū waʿalā rabbihim yatawakkalūn

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالࣰا نُّوحِیۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡۖ فَسۡءَلُوۤا۟ أَهۡلَ ٱلذِّكۡرِ إِن كُنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٤٣

And We did not send before you except men whom We revealed to them. So, ask the reminder’s people, if you were not knowing.

wamā arsalnā min qablika illā rijālan nūḥī ilayhim fasalū ahla l-dhik'ri in kuntum lā taʿlamūn

بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ وَٱلزُّبُرِۗ وَأَنزَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ ٱلذِّكۡرَ لِتُبَیِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَیۡهِمۡ وَلَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَفَكَّرُونَ ۝٤٤

With the proofs and the Zaboors. And We sent down to you the Reminder, that you demonstrate to the people what was sent down to them, and perhaps they may be thinking.

bil-bayināti wal-zuburi wa-anzalnā ilayka l-dhik'ra litubayyina lilnnāsi mā nuzzila ilayhim walaʿallahum yatafakkarūn

أَفَأَمِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ مَكَرُوا۟ ٱلسَّیِّءَاتِ أَن یَخۡسِفَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ أَوۡ یَأۡتِیَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ مِنۡ حَیۡثُ لَا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٤٥

So are those who are guiling the bad deeds, secured that Allah will collapse down the earth with them, or the torment comes to them from where they do not feel.

afa-amina alladhīna makarū l-sayiāti an yakhsifa l-lahu bihimu l-arḍa aw yatiyahumu l-ʿadhābu min ḥaythu lā yashʿurūn

أَوۡ یَأۡخُذَهُمۡ فِی تَقَلُّبِهِمۡ فَمَا هُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝٤٦

Or will he take them in their daily activity fluctuation? So, they will not cause its incapacitation.

aw yakhudhahum fī taqallubihim famā hum bimuʿ'jizīn

أَوۡ یَأۡخُذَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ تَخَوُّفࣲ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمۡ لَرَءُوفࣱ رَّحِیمٌ ۝٤٧

Or He will take them upon fear? So, surely Your Lord is Kind, Merciful.

aw yakhudhahum ʿalā takhawwufin fa-inna rabbakum laraūfun raḥīmu

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَیۡءࣲ یَتَفَیَّؤُا۟ ظِلَـٰلُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلۡیَمِینِ وَٱلشَّمَاۤىِٕلِ سُجَّدࣰا لِّلَّهِ وَهُمۡ دَ ٰخِرُونَ ۝٤٨

Have they not seen what Allah has created among a thing? It shades its shadows, about the right and the lefts, prostrating for Allah while they are degrading.

awalam yaraw ilā mā khalaqa l-lahu min shayin yatafayya-u ẓilāluhu ʿani l-yamīni wal-shamāili sujjadan lillahi wahum dākhirūn

وَ̅لِ̅لَّ̅هِ̅ ̅یَ̅سۡ̅جُ̅دُ̅ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِن دَاۤبَّةࣲ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ وَهُمۡ لَا یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝٤٩

And for Allah prostrates whatever is in the skies and whatever is in the earth, among a moving creature, and the angels, and they are not arrogant.

walillahi yasjudu mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi min dābbatin wal-malāikatu wahum lā yastakbirūn

یَخَافُونَ رَبَّهُم مِّن فَوۡقِهِمۡ وَیَفۡعَلُونَ مَا یُؤۡمَرُونَ ۝٥٠ ۩

They are fearing their Lord from above them, and they are doing whatever they are commanded. ۩

yakhāfūna rabbahum min fawqihim wayafʿalūna mā yu'marūn

7 Human Nature revolts against Polytheism

۞ وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ لَا تَتَّخِذُوۤا۟ إِلَـٰهَیۡنِ ٱثۡنَیۡنِۖ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـٰهࣱ وَ ٰحِدࣱ فَإِیَّـٰیَ فَٱرۡهَبُونِ ۝٥١

And Allah has said: “Do not take two Gods, Tow! He, just only, One God; so, be from me be terrifying.”

waqāla l-lahu lā tattakhidhū ilāhayni ith'nayni innamā huwa ilāhun wāḥidun fa-iyyāya fa-ir'habūn

وَلَهُۥ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَهُ ٱلدِّینُ وَاصِبًاۚ أَفَغَیۡرَ ٱللَّهِ تَتَّقُونَ ۝٥٢

And for Him whatever is in the skies and the earth; and for Him the religion is constantly. So, are you showing piety, to others than Allah?

walahu mā fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi walahu l-dīnu wāṣiban afaghayra l-lahi tattaqūn

وَمَا بِكُم مِّن نِّعۡمَةࣲ فَمِنَ ٱللَّهِۖ ثُمَّ إِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فَإِلَیۡهِ تَجۡءَرُونَ ۝٥٣

And whatever among grace with you is from Allah. Then if the harm touches you, so to Him you are groaning.

wamā bikum min niʿ'matin famina l-lahi thumma idhā massakumu l-ḍuru fa-ilayhi tajarūn

ثُمَّ إِذَا كَشَفَ ٱلضُّرَّ عَنكُمۡ إِذَا فَرِیقࣱ مِّنكُم بِرَبِّهِمۡ یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٥٤

Then if He uncovers the harm about you, behold! a team among you with their Lord are associating.

thumma idhā kashafa l-ḍura ʿankum idhā farīqun minkum birabbihim yush'rikūn

لِیَكۡفُرُوا۟ بِمَاۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمۡۚ فَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ فَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٥٥

To disbelieve with what We have given them. So, enjoy. So, you will know.

liyakfurū bimā ātaynāhum fatamattaʿū fasawfa taʿlamūn

وَیَجۡعَلُونَ لِمَا لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ نَصِیبࣰا مِّمَّا رَزَقۡنَـٰهُمۡۗ تَٱللَّهِ لَتُسۡءَلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمۡ تَفۡتَرُونَ ۝٥٦

And they set up, for what they do not know, a share among what we had livelihood them. By Allah, you will be questioned about what you have been slandering.

wayajʿalūna limā lā yaʿlamūna naṣīban mimmā razaqnāhum tal-lahi latus'alunna ʿammā kuntum taftarūn

وَیَجۡعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡبَنَـٰتِ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَلَهُم مَّا یَشۡتَهُونَ ۝٥٧

And they set up for Allah the daughters, glorified is Him, and for themselves what they are desiring.

wayajʿalūna lillahi l-banāti sub'ḥānahu walahum mā yashtahūn

وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلۡأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجۡهُهُۥ مُسۡوَدࣰّا وَهُوَ كَظِیمࣱ ۝٥٨

And when one of them is preaching with the female, his face stays blackish, and he is a suppressor (His rage).

wa-idhā bushira aḥaduhum bil-unthā ẓalla wajhuhu mus'waddan wahuwa kaẓīmu

یَتَوَ ٰرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ مِن سُوۤءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِۦۤۚ أَیُمۡسِكُهُۥ عَلَىٰ هُونٍ أَمۡ یَدُسُّهُۥ فِی ٱلتُّرَابِۗ أَلَا سَاۤءَ مَا یَحۡكُمُونَ ۝٥٩

He disappears from the kinfolk, from a bad of what he preached with it. Shall he withhold it in humiliation, or bury it secretly in the dust? Verily, bad was what they were judging.

yatawārā mina l-qawmi min sūi mā bushira bihi ayum'sikuhu ʿalā hūnin am yadussuhu fī l-turābi alā sāa mā yaḥkumūn

لِلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ مَثَلُ ٱلسَّوۡءِۖ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡمَثَلُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٦٠

For those who are not believing in the Hereafter, is the badness example, and for Allah is the Highest Example. And He is Al-Aziz (The Almighty), Al-Hakeem (The Wise).

lilladhīna lā yu'minūna bil-ākhirati mathalu l-sawi walillahi l-mathalu l-aʿlā wahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīm

8 Iniquity of Deniers

وَلَوۡ یُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلۡمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَیۡهَا مِن دَاۤبَّةࣲ وَلَـٰكِن یُؤَخِّرُهُمۡ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّىۖ فَإِذَا جَاۤءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ لَا یَسۡتَءۡخِرُونَ سَاعَةࣰ وَلَا یَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ ۝٦١

And if Allah is taking the people with their oppression, He would not quit upon it a moving creature, but He postpones them until a named term. So, when their term comes, they will neither be delaying one hour, nor will they be advancing.

walaw yuākhidhu l-lahu l-nāsa biẓul'mihim mā taraka ʿalayhā min dābbatin walākin yu-akhiruhum ilā ajalin musamman fa-idhā jāa ajaluhum lā yastakhirūna sāʿatan walā yastaqdimūn

وَیَجۡعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ مَا یَكۡرَهُونَۚ وَتَصِفُ أَلۡسِنَتُهُمُ ٱلۡكَذِبَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۚ لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَأَنَّهُم مُّفۡرَطُونَ ۝٦٢

And they set for Allah what they are hating, and their tongues describe the lie, that for them is the excellency. Assuredly, that for them is the Fire, and that they will be over-neglected.

wayajʿalūna lillahi mā yakrahūna wataṣifu alsinatuhumu l-kadhiba anna lahumu l-ḥus'nā lā jarama anna lahumu l-nāra wa-annahum muf'raṭūn

تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰۤ أُمَمࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَزَیَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ فَهُوَ وَلِیُّهُمُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٦٣

By Allah, We already sent (Messengers) to communities before you, so Satan prettified their works for them. So, he is their guardian Today, and for them a painful torment.

tal-lahi laqad arsalnā ilā umamin min qablika fazayyana lahumu l-shayṭānu aʿmālahum fahuwa waliyyuhumu l-yawma walahum ʿadhābun alīmu

وَمَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَیۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ إِلَّا لِتُبَیِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِی ٱخۡتَلَفُوا۟ فِیهِ وَهُدࣰى وَرَحۡمَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٦٤

And We did not send down upon you the Book except to demonstrate for them what they are differing within it, and a guidance and a mercy for a kinfolk who believe.

wamā anzalnā ʿalayka l-kitāba illā litubayyina lahumu alladhī ikh'talafū fīhi wahudan waraḥmatan liqawmin yu'minūn

وَٱللَّهُ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَحۡیَا بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَاۤۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَسۡمَعُونَ ۝٦٥

And Allah sent down water from the sky, so with which He gives the earth life after its death. Surely, within that is a verse for a kinfolk who listen.

wal-lahu anzala mina l-samāi māan fa-aḥyā bihi l-arḍa baʿda mawtihā inna fī dhālika laāyatan liqawmin yasmaʿūn

9 Parables showing Truth of Revelation

وَإِنَّ لَكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ لَعِبۡرَةࣰۖ نُّسۡقِیكُم مِّمَّا فِی بُطُونِهِۦ مِنۢ بَیۡنِ فَرۡثࣲ وَدَمࣲ لَّبَنًا خَالِصࣰا سَاۤىِٕغࣰا لِّلشَّـٰرِبِینَ ۝٦٦

And surely there is an admonition lesson for you in the livestock: We water you from what is within their bellies, between excretion and blood, unmixed milk, palatable for the drinkers.

wa-inna lakum fī l-anʿāmi laʿib'ratan nus'qīkum mimmā fī buṭūnihi min bayni farthin wadamin labanan khāliṣan sāighan lilshāribīn

وَمِن ثَمَرَ ٰتِ ٱلنَّخِیلِ وَٱلۡأَعۡنَـٰبِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنۡهُ سَكَرࣰا وَرِزۡقًا حَسَنًاۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٧

And from the date-palms fruitage and the grapevines, you are taking from it an intoxicant and a fine livelihood. Surely, within that is a verse for a kinfolk who reason.

wamin thamarāti l-nakhīli wal-aʿnābi tattakhidhūna min'hu sakaran wariz'qan ḥasanan inna fī dhālika laāyatan liqawmin yaʿqilūn

وَأَوۡحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى ٱلنَّحۡلِ أَنِ ٱتَّخِذِی مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتࣰا وَمِنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ وَمِمَّا یَعۡرِشُونَ ۝٦٨

And your Lord revealed to the bee: “That takes homes from the mountains, and from the trees, and from what they are trellising.”

wa-awḥā rabbuka ilā l-naḥli ani ittakhidhī mina l-jibāli buyūtan wamina l-shajari wamimmā yaʿrishūn

ثُمَّ كُلِی مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَ ٰتِ فَٱسۡلُكِی سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلࣰاۚ یَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابࣱ مُّخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَ ٰنُهُۥ فِیهِ شِفَاۤءࣱ لِّلنَّاسِۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَتَفَكَّرُونَ ۝٦٩

Then eat from all the fruitage, so go within your Lord’s pathways, smoothly. Exit out from their bellies a varying color syrup, within it a healing for the people. Surely, within that is a verse for a kinfolk who think.

thumma kulī min kulli l-thamarāti fa-us'lukī subula rabbiki dhululan yakhruju min buṭūnihā sharābun mukh'talifun alwānuhu fīhi shifāon lilnnāsi inna fī dhālika laāyatan liqawmin yatafakkarūn

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمۡ ثُمَّ یَتَوَفَّىٰكُمۡۚ وَمِنكُم مَّن یُرَدُّ إِلَىٰۤ أَرۡذَلِ ٱلۡعُمُرِ لِكَیۡ لَا یَعۡلَمَ بَعۡدَ عِلۡمࣲ شَیۡءًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِیمࣱ قَدِیرࣱ ۝٧٠

And Allah created you; then He will decease you. And from you who is reversed to the oldest age, so that he will no longer know a thing, after his knowledge. Surely Allah is Knowledgeable, Competent.

wal-lahu khalaqakum thumma yatawaffākum waminkum man yuraddu ilā ardhali l-ʿumuri likay lā yaʿlama baʿda ʿil'min shayan inna l-laha ʿalīmun qadīru

10 Recipient of Revelation

وَٱللَّهُ فَضَّلَ بَعۡضَكُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ فِی ٱلرِّزۡقِۚ فَمَا ٱلَّذِینَ فُضِّلُوا۟ بِرَاۤدِّی رِزۡقِهِمۡ عَلَىٰ مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَیۡمَـٰنُهُمۡ فَهُمۡ فِیهِ سَوَاۤءٌۚ أَفَبِنِعۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِ یَجۡحَدُونَ ۝٧١

Allah has favored some of you over some others in livelihood. So, those who are favored would not hand over their livelihood to those whom their right hands are possessing, so that they would be equal in it. So, is it with Allah’s graces they are denying?

wal-lahu faḍḍala baʿḍakum ʿalā baʿḍin fī l-riz'qi famā alladhīna fuḍḍilū birāddī riz'qihim ʿalā mā malakat aymānuhum fahum fīhi sawāon afabiniʿ'mati l-lahi yajḥadūn

وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنۡ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَزۡوَ ٰجࣰا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنۡ أَزۡوَ ٰجِكُم بَنِینَ وَحَفَدَةࣰ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِۚ أَفَبِٱلۡبَـٰطِلِ یُؤۡمِنُونَ وَبِنِعۡمَتِ ٱللَّهِ هُمۡ یَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٧٢

And Allah has set up for you among yourselves spouses; and set up for you from your spouses, sons and grandchildren; and had livelihood for you among the good things. So will they by the invalid they are believing, and by Allah’s grace disbelieving?

wal-lahu jaʿala lakum min anfusikum azwājan wajaʿala lakum min azwājikum banīna waḥafadatan warazaqakum mina l-ṭayibāti afabil-bāṭili yu'minūna wabiniʿ'mati l-lahi hum yakfurūn

وَیَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَمۡلِكُ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ ۝٧٣

And they worshiped without Allah what does not own for them a livelihood from the skies, and the earth of a thing, and they are unable.

wayaʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi mā lā yamliku lahum riz'qan mina l-samāwāti wal-arḍi shayan walā yastaṭīʿūn

فَلَا تَضۡرِبُوا۟ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَعۡلَمُ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٧٤

So do not cite the examples for Allah. Surely Allah knows, and you are not knowing.

falā taḍribū lillahi l-amthāla inna l-laha yaʿlamu wa-antum lā taʿlamūn

۞ ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا عَبۡدࣰا مَّمۡلُوكࣰا لَّا یَقۡدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَیۡءࣲ وَمَن رَّزَقۡنَـٰهُ مِنَّا رِزۡقًا حَسَنࣰا فَهُوَ یُنفِقُ مِنۡهُ سِرࣰّا وَجَهۡرًاۖ هَلۡ یَسۡتَوُۥنَۚ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٧٥

Allah cites an example of an owned slave, who is unable upon a thing; and whom We had livelihood from Us a finest livelihood, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Are they equal? All praise for Allah nay, but most of them are not knowing.

ḍaraba l-lahu mathalan ʿabdan mamlūkan lā yaqdiru ʿalā shayin waman razaqnāhu minnā riz'qan ḥasanan fahuwa yunfiqu min'hu sirran wajahran hal yastawūna l-ḥamdu lillahi bal aktharuhum lā yaʿlamūn

وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلࣰا رَّجُلَیۡنِ أَحَدُهُمَاۤ أَبۡكَمُ لَا یَقۡدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَیۡءࣲ وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَىٰ مَوۡلَىٰهُ أَیۡنَمَا یُوَجِّههُّ لَا یَأۡتِ بِخَیۡرٍ هَلۡ یَسۡتَوِی هُوَ وَمَن یَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٧٦

And Allah cited an example of two men: one of them dumb, is unable upon a thing, and he is a burden on his guardian; whichever way he directs him, he does not come with a goodness. Is he equal with him who commands, with justice, and is on a straight path?

waḍaraba l-lahu mathalan rajulayni aḥaduhumā abkamu lā yaqdiru ʿalā shayin wahuwa kallun ʿalā mawlāhu aynamā yuwajjihhu lā yati bikhayrin hal yastawī huwa waman yamuru bil-ʿadli wahuwa ʿalā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi

11 Punishment withheld

وَلِلَّهِ غَیۡبُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَاۤ أَمۡرُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ إِلَّا كَلَمۡحِ ٱلۡبَصَرِ أَوۡ هُوَ أَقۡرَبُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدِیرࣱ ۝٧٧

And for Allah is the skies’ unseen and the earth. And the Hour’s command is not except, like the sight’s glance, or even nearer. Surely Allah is over everything competent.

walillahi ghaybu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā amru l-sāʿati illā kalamḥi l-baṣari aw huwa aqrabu inna l-laha ʿalā kulli shayin qadīru

وَٱللَّهُ أَخۡرَجَكُم مِّنۢ بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ شَیۡءࣰا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡءِدَةَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٧٨

And Allah exited you out from your mothers’ bellies, not knowing a thing; and He set up for you the hearing, and the sight, and the hearts; perhaps you may be thanking.

wal-lahu akhrajakum min buṭūni ummahātikum lā taʿlamūna shayan wajaʿala lakumu l-samʿa wal-abṣāra wal-afidata laʿallakum tashkurūn

أَلَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّیۡرِ مُسَخَّرَ ٰتࣲ فِی جَوِّ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَا یُمۡسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٧٩

Have they not seen the birds, subservient in the sky’s atmosphere? None withholds them except Allah. Surely, within that is verses for a kinfolk who believe.

alam yaraw ilā l-ṭayri musakharātin fī jawwi l-samāi mā yum'sikuhunna illā l-lahu inna fī dhālika laāyātin liqawmin yu'minūn

وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنۢ بُیُوتِكُمۡ سَكَنࣰا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّن جُلُودِ ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ بُیُوتࣰا تَسۡتَخِفُّونَهَا یَوۡمَ ظَعۡنِكُمۡ وَیَوۡمَ إِقَامَتِكُمۡ وَمِنۡ أَصۡوَافِهَا وَأَوۡبَارِهَا وَأَشۡعَارِهَاۤ أَثَـٰثࣰا وَمَتَـٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝٨٠

And Allah has set up for you from your homes a calmness and has set up for you from the livestock’s leathers homes, would be light on you on your travel day, and on your staying day; and among their wool, and fur, and hair, furnishings and enjoyment till a while.

wal-lahu jaʿala lakum min buyūtikum sakanan wajaʿala lakum min julūdi l-anʿāmi buyūtan tastakhiffūnahā yawma ẓaʿnikum wayawma iqāmatikum wamin aṣwāfihā wa-awbārihā wa-ashʿārihā athāthan wamatāʿan ilā ḥīni

وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّمَّا خَلَقَ ظِلَـٰلࣰا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ أَكۡنَـٰنࣰا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمۡ سَرَ ٰبِیلَ تَقِیكُمُ ٱلۡحَرَّ وَسَرَ ٰبِیلَ تَقِیكُم بَأۡسَكُمۡۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ یُتِمُّ نِعۡمَتَهُۥ عَلَیۡكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُسۡلِمُونَ ۝٨١

And Allah has set up for you shade from what He has created and has set up for you from the mountains’ stashes, and has set up for you garments to protect you from the hotness, and garments to protect you from your violence. Thus, He completes His graces upon you, perhaps you may be submitting.

wal-lahu jaʿala lakum mimmā khalaqa ẓilālan wajaʿala lakum mina l-jibāli aknānan wajaʿala lakum sarābīla taqīkumu l-ḥara wasarābīla taqīkum basakum kadhālika yutimmu niʿ'matahu ʿalaykum laʿallakum tus'limūn

فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡا۟ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَیۡكَ ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝٨٢

So, if they turned away, it was only upon you the obvious notification.

fa-in tawallaw fa-innamā ʿalayka l-balāghu l-mubīn

یَعۡرِفُونَ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ یُنكِرُونَهَا وَأَكۡثَرُهُمُ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ ۝٨٣

They recognize Allah’s graces, then they deny it, and most of them are the infidels.

yaʿrifūna niʿ'mata l-lahi thumma yunkirūnahā wa-aktharuhumu l-kāfirūn

12 Prophets testify

وَیَوۡمَ نَبۡعَثُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةࣲ شَهِیدࣰا ثُمَّ لَا یُؤۡذَنُ لِلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَلَا هُمۡ یُسۡتَعۡتَبُونَ ۝٨٤

And on a Day when We will mission a witness from every community, then those who disbelieved will not be permitted (excuse), nor they be admonished (to appease God).

wayawma nabʿathu min kulli ummatin shahīdan thumma lā yu'dhanu lilladhīna kafarū walā hum yus'taʿtabūn

وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ فَلَا یُخَفَّفُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یُنظَرُونَ ۝٨٥

And if those who oppressed saw the torment, so it will not be lightened about them, nor respited.

wa-idhā raā alladhīna ẓalamū l-ʿadhāba falā yukhaffafu ʿanhum walā hum yunẓarūn

وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ شُرَكَاۤءَهُمۡ قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ شُرَكَاۤؤُنَا ٱلَّذِینَ كُنَّا نَدۡعُوا۟ مِن دُونِكَۖ فَأَلۡقَوۡا۟ إِلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ إِنَّكُمۡ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝٨٦

And if those who are associating saw their associates, they said, “Our Lord, these are our associates whom we were calling without You.” So, they threw back to them the saying, “You are liars.”

wa-idhā raā alladhīna ashrakū shurakāahum qālū rabbanā hāulāi shurakāunā alladhīna kunnā nadʿū min dūnika fa-alqaw ilayhimu l-qawla innakum lakādhibūn

وَأَلۡقَوۡا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ ٱلسَّلَمَۖ وَضَلَّ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝٨٧

And they threw to Allah on that Day the submission, and strayed from them what they were slandering.

wa-alqaw ilā l-lahi yawma-idhin l-salama waḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūn

ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ زِدۡنَـٰهُمۡ عَذَابࣰا فَوۡقَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یُفۡسِدُونَ ۝٨٨

Those who disbelieved and hindered Allah's pathway, We increased them a torment over the torment, with what they were spoiling.

alladhīna kafarū waṣaddū ʿan sabīli l-lahi zid'nāhum ʿadhāban fawqa l-ʿadhābi bimā kānū yuf'sidūn

وَیَوۡمَ نَبۡعَثُ فِی كُلِّ أُمَّةࣲ شَهِیدًا عَلَیۡهِم مِّنۡ أَنفُسِهِمۡۖ وَجِئۡنَا بِكَ شَهِیدًا عَلَىٰ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِۚ وَنَزَّلۡنَا عَلَیۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ تِبۡیَـٰنࣰا لِّكُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ وَهُدࣰى وَرَحۡمَةࣰ وَبُشۡرَىٰ لِلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٨٩

And on a Day when We will raise in every community a witness against them, among themselves, and brought with you as a witness against these. And We sent down upon you the Book, as a declaration for everything, and a guidance, and a mercy and preach (good tidings) for the Muslims.

wayawma nabʿathu fī kulli ummatin shahīdan ʿalayhim min anfusihim waji'nā bika shahīdan ʿalā hāulāi wanazzalnā ʿalayka l-kitāba tib'yānan likulli shayin wahudan waraḥmatan wabush'rā lil'mus'limīn

13 Revelation enjoins Good

۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ وَٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ وَإِیتَاۤىِٕ ذِی ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَیَنۡهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلۡفَحۡشَاۤءِ وَٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَٱلۡبَغۡیِۚ یَعِظُكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٩٠

Surely Allah commands with the justice, and the excellence conduct, and giving the possessors of consanguinity. And He prohibits obscenity, and the denial, and the transgressing. He exhorts you, perhaps you may be remembering.

inna l-laha yamuru bil-ʿadli wal-iḥ'sāni waītāi dhī l-qur'bā wayanhā ʿani l-faḥshāi wal-munkari wal-baghyi yaʿiẓukum laʿallakum tadhakkarūn

وَأَوۡفُوا۟ بِعَهۡدِ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا عَـٰهَدتُّمۡ وَلَا تَنقُضُوا۟ ٱلۡأَیۡمَـٰنَ بَعۡدَ تَوۡكِیدِهَا وَقَدۡ جَعَلۡتُمُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ كَفِیلًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَعۡلَمُ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٩١

And fulfill Allah's covenant if you covenant and do not break the oaths after emphasizing them. And you already have set up Allah upon you as sponsor, surely Allah knows what you are doing.

wa-awfū biʿahdi l-lahi idhā ʿāhadttum walā tanquḍū l-aymāna baʿda tawkīdihā waqad jaʿaltumu l-laha ʿalaykum kafīlan inna l-laha yaʿlamu mā tafʿalūn

وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّتِی نَقَضَتۡ غَزۡلَهَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَـٰثࣰا تَتَّخِذُونَ أَیۡمَـٰنَكُمۡ دَخَلَۢا بَیۡنَكُمۡ أَن تَكُونَ أُمَّةٌ هِیَ أَرۡبَىٰ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍۚ إِنَّمَا یَبۡلُوكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦۚ وَلَیُبَیِّنَنَّ لَكُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ مَا كُنتُمۡ فِیهِ تَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝٩٢

And do not be like her who unravels her yarn, after it was strong in renege. You are taking your oaths as deception between you, to be one community is more growing than another community. Surely Allah is trying you with it. And He will demonstrate for you, on The Resurrection Day, what you were within it differing.

walā takūnū ka-allatī naqaḍat ghazlahā min baʿdi quwwatin ankāthan tattakhidhūna aymānakum dakhalan baynakum an takūna ummatun hiya arbā min ummatin innamā yablūkumu l-lahu bihi walayubayyinanna lakum yawma l-qiyāmati mā kuntum fīhi takhtalifūn

وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمۡ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ وَلَـٰكِن یُضِلُّ مَن یَشَاۤءُ وَیَهۡدِی مَن یَشَاۤءُۚ وَلَتُسۡءَلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٣

And if Allah willed, He would set up you one community, but He strays whom He wills, and He guides whom He wills. And you will be questioned about what you were working on.

walaw shāa l-lahu lajaʿalakum ummatan wāḥidatan walākin yuḍillu man yashāu wayahdī man yashāu walatus'alunna ʿammā kuntum taʿmalūn

وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوۤا۟ أَیۡمَـٰنَكُمۡ دَخَلَۢا بَیۡنَكُمۡ فَتَزِلَّ قَدَمُۢ بَعۡدَ ثُبُوتِهَا وَتَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلسُّوۤءَ بِمَا صَدَدتُّمۡ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَكُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِیمࣱ ۝٩٤

And do not take your oaths as deception between you, so a foot will slip after its firming, and taste the badness with what you avert from Allah’s pathway, and for you a great torment.

walā tattakhidhū aymānakum dakhalan baynakum fatazilla qadamun baʿda thubūtihā watadhūqū l-sūa bimā ṣadadttum ʿan sabīli l-lahi walakum ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmu

وَلَا تَشۡتَرُوا۟ بِعَهۡدِ ٱللَّهِ ثَمَنࣰا قَلِیلًاۚ إِنَّمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٩٥

And do not purchase with Allah’s covenant for a little price. Surely what is with Allah is a goodness for you, if you are knowing.

walā tashtarū biʿahdi l-lahi thamanan qalīlan innamā ʿinda l-lahi huwa khayrun lakum in kuntum taʿlamūn

مَا عِندَكُمۡ یَنفَدُ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ بَاقࣲۗ وَلَنَجۡزِیَنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ صَبَرُوۤا۟ أَجۡرَهُم بِأَحۡسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٦

What you have would be depleted, but what is with Allah remains. And We will recompense those who are patient, their wages with the best of what they were working.

mā ʿindakum yanfadu wamā ʿinda l-lahi bāqin walanajziyanna alladhīna ṣabarū ajrahum bi-aḥsani mā kānū yaʿmalūn

مَنۡ عَمِلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوۡ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنࣱ فَلَنُحۡیِیَنَّهُۥ حَیَوٰةࣰ طَیِّبَةࣰۖ وَلَنَجۡزِیَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡرَهُم بِأَحۡسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٧

Whoever worked righteous, whether male or female, while being a believer, We will give him a good life, and We will recompense them their wage with the best of what they were working.

man ʿamila ṣāliḥan min dhakarin aw unthā wahuwa mu'minun falanuḥ'yiyannahu ḥayatan ṭayyibatan walanajziyannahum ajrahum bi-aḥsani mā kānū yaʿmalūn

فَإِذَا قَرَأۡتَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِیمِ ۝٩٨

So, if you read the Quran. So, seek incantation with Allah from the outcast Satan.

fa-idhā qarata l-qur'āna fa-is'taʿidh bil-lahi mina l-shayṭāni l-rajīm

إِنَّهُۥ لَیۡسَ لَهُۥ سُلۡطَـٰنٌ عَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ یَتَوَكَّلُونَ ۝٩٩

Surely, he has no Sultan over those who believed, and, on their Lord, they are relying.

innahu laysa lahu sul'ṭānun ʿalā alladhīna āmanū waʿalā rabbihim yatawakkalūn

إِنَّمَا سُلۡطَـٰنُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ یَتَوَلَّوۡنَهُۥ وَٱلَّذِینَ هُم بِهِۦ مُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١٠٠

Surely His Sultan is only upon those who ally him and those who by him (Allah) are associating.

innamā sul'ṭānuhu ʿalā alladhīna yatawallawnahu wa-alladhīna hum bihi mush'rikūn

14 Qur'an not a Forgery

وَإِذَا بَدَّلۡنَاۤ ءَایَةࣰ مَّكَانَ ءَایَةࣲ وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا یُنَزِّلُ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ مُفۡتَرِۭۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٠١

And if We substituted a verse in place of a verse, and Allah is knower with what He sends down, they said, “You are only a slanderer.” Nay, but most of them are not knowing.

wa-idhā baddalnā āyatan makāna āyatin wal-lahu aʿlamu bimā yunazzilu qālū innamā anta muf'tarin bal aktharuhum lā yaʿlamūn

قُلۡ نَزَّلَهُۥ رُوحُ ٱلۡقُدُسِ مِن رَّبِّكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ لِیُثَبِّتَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهُدࣰى وَبُشۡرَىٰ لِلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝١٠٢

Say, “The holy Spirit has descended it down from your Lord, with the right, to stabilize those who believed, and a guidance and a preach (good tidings) for the Muslims.”

qul nazzalahu rūḥu l-qudusi min rabbika bil-ḥaqi liyuthabbita alladhīna āmanū wahudan wabush'rā lil'mus'limīn

وَلَقَدۡ نَعۡلَمُ أَنَّهُمۡ یَقُولُونَ إِنَّمَا یُعَلِّمُهُۥ بَشَرࣱۗ لِّسَانُ ٱلَّذِی یُلۡحِدُونَ إِلَیۡهِ أَعۡجَمِیࣱّ وَهَـٰذَا لِسَانٌ عَرَبِیࣱّ مُّبِینٌ ۝١٠٣

And We already have knowledge that they are saying, “Surely he teaches him only humankind.” The tongue of the one whom they atheist to, him is a foreigner and this is an obvious Arabic tongue.

walaqad naʿlamu annahum yaqūlūna innamā yuʿallimuhu basharun lisānu alladhī yul'ḥidūna ilayhi aʿjamiyyun wahādhā lisānun ʿarabiyyun mubīnu

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ لَا یَهۡدِیهِمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمٌ ۝١٠٤

Surely those who are not believing with Allah’s verses, Allah does not guide them, and for them is a painful torment.

inna alladhīna lā yu'minūna biāyāti l-lahi lā yahdīhimu l-lahu walahum ʿadhābun alīmu

إِنَّمَا یَفۡتَرِی ٱلۡكَذِبَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝١٠٥

Surely, they are only slandering the lie, those who are not believing with Allah’s verses. And those are the liars.

innamā yaftarī l-kadhiba alladhīna lā yu'minūna biāyāti l-lahi wa-ulāika humu l-kādhibūn

مَن كَفَرَ بِٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ إِیمَـٰنِهِۦۤ إِلَّا مَنۡ أُكۡرِهَ وَقَلۡبُهُۥ مُطۡمَىِٕنُّۢ بِٱلۡإِیمَـٰنِ وَلَـٰكِن مَّن شَرَحَ بِٱلۡكُفۡرِ صَدۡرࣰا فَعَلَیۡهِمۡ غَضَبࣱ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِیمࣱ ۝١٠٦

Whoever disbelieved with Allah after his believing, except who is forced, while his core was tranquilized by the faith. But, whoever his chest was enraptured by the infidelity, so upon them anger from Allah, and for them is a great torment.

man kafara bil-lahi min baʿdi īmānihi illā man uk'riha waqalbuhu muṭ'ma-innun bil-īmāni walākin man sharaḥa bil-kuf'ri ṣadran faʿalayhim ghaḍabun mina l-lahi walahum ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmu

ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱسۡتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا عَلَى ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یَهۡدِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝١٠٧

That is because they have loved the Dunya (worldly) life more than the Hereafter, and surely Allah does not guide the infidel kinfolk.

dhālika bi-annahumu is'taḥabbū l-ḥayata l-dun'yā ʿalā l-ākhirati wa-anna l-laha lā yahdī l-qawma l-kāfirīn

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ وَسَمۡعِهِمۡ وَأَبۡصَـٰرِهِمۡۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰفِلُونَ ۝١٠٨

Those are whom Allah has imprinted on, their cores and their hearings, and their sights. And those are the inattentive ones.

ulāika alladhīna ṭabaʿa l-lahu ʿalā qulūbihim wasamʿihim wa-abṣārihim wa-ulāika humu l-ghāfilūn

لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ ۝١٠٩

Assuredly that they are in The Hereafter, the losers.

lā jarama annahum fī l-ākhirati humu l-khāsirūn

ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِینَ هَاجَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا فُتِنُوا۟ ثُمَّ جَـٰهَدُوا۟ وَصَبَرُوۤا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهَا لَغَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝١١٠

Then surely your Lord, for those who emigrated after being infatuated, then efforted and be patient, surely your Lord thereafter is Forgiver, Merciful.

thumma inna rabbaka lilladhīna hājarū min baʿdi mā futinū thumma jāhadū waṣabarū inna rabbaka min baʿdihā laghafūrun raḥīmu

15 Fate of Opponents

۞ یَوۡمَ تَأۡتِی كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ تُجَـٰدِلُ عَن نَّفۡسِهَا وَتُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ مَّا عَمِلَتۡ وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝١١١

On a Day when every soul will come arguing about itself, and every soul will fulfill what it has worked for, and they are not being oppressed.

yawma tatī kullu nafsin tujādilu ʿan nafsihā watuwaffā kullu nafsin mā ʿamilat wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn

وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلࣰا قَرۡیَةࣰ كَانَتۡ ءَامِنَةࣰ مُّطۡمَىِٕنَّةࣰ یَأۡتِیهَا رِزۡقُهَا رَغَدࣰا مِّن كُلِّ مَكَانࣲ فَكَفَرَتۡ بِأَنۡعُمِ ٱللَّهِ فَأَذَ ٰقَهَا ٱللَّهُ لِبَاسَ ٱلۡجُوعِ وَٱلۡخَوۡفِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَصۡنَعُونَ ۝١١٢

And Allah cited an example of a village that was secured and tranquil, its livelihood coming to it abundantly from every place. So, it disbelieved with Allah’s grace, so Allah made them taste the hunger’s apparel and the fear, with what they were making.

waḍaraba l-lahu mathalan qaryatan kānat āminatan muṭ'ma-innatan yatīhā riz'quhā raghadan min kulli makānin fakafarat bi-anʿumi l-lahi fa-adhāqahā l-lahu libāsa l-jūʿi wal-khawfi bimā kānū yaṣnaʿūn

وَلَقَدۡ جَاۤءَهُمۡ رَسُولࣱ مِّنۡهُمۡ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ وَهُمۡ ظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝١١٣

And already a messenger among them had come to them, but they falsified him, so the torment took them while they were oppressors.

walaqad jāahum rasūlun min'hum fakadhabūhu fa-akhadhahumu l-ʿadhābu wahum ẓālimūn

فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ حَلَـٰلࣰا طَیِّبࣰا وَٱشۡكُرُوا۟ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ إِیَّاهُ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝١١٤

So, eat among what Allah had livelihood for you Halal and good things, and be thankful for Allah’s graces, if you are to Him worshiping.

fakulū mimmā razaqakumu l-lahu ḥalālan ṭayyiban wa-ush'kurū niʿ'mata l-lahi in kuntum iyyāhu taʿbudūn

إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡمَیۡتَةَ وَٱلدَّمَ وَلَحۡمَ ٱلۡخِنزِیرِ وَمَاۤ أُهِلَّ لِغَیۡرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦۖ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ غَیۡرَ بَاغࣲ وَلَا عَادࣲ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝١١٥

Surely, He has only forbidden upon you the dead, and the blood, and the swine flesh, and what was dedicated with it to rather than Allah. So, whoever is compelled neither a transgressor nor exceeder, So, surely Allah is Forgiver, Merciful.

innamā ḥarrama ʿalaykumu l-maytata wal-dama walaḥma l-khinzīri wamā uhilla lighayri l-lahi bihi famani uḍ'ṭurra ghayra bāghin walā ʿādin fa-inna l-laha ghafūrun raḥīmu

وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ لِمَا تَصِفُ أَلۡسِنَتُكُمُ ٱلۡكَذِبَ هَـٰذَا حَلَـٰلࣱ وَهَـٰذَا حَرَامࣱ لِّتَفۡتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ لَا یُفۡلِحُونَ ۝١١٦

And do not say for what your tongues describe, the lie, “This is Halal, and this is forbidden,” to slander the lies upon Allah. Surely those who are slandering upon Allah the lie, are not gaining.

walā taqūlū limā taṣifu alsinatukumu l-kadhiba hādhā ḥalālun wahādhā ḥarāmun litaftarū ʿalā l-lahi l-kadhiba inna alladhīna yaftarūna ʿalā l-lahi l-kadhiba lā yuf'liḥūn

مَتَـٰعࣱ قَلِیلࣱ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝١١٧

A little enjoyment, and for them a painful torment.

matāʿun qalīlun walahum ʿadhābun alīmu

وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمۡنَا مَا قَصَصۡنَا عَلَیۡكَ مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَمَا ظَلَمۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ یَظۡلِمُونَ ۝١١٨

And upon those who are Jews, We have forbidden what We storified upon you before. And We did not oppress them, but themselves they were oppressing.

waʿalā alladhīna hādū ḥarramnā mā qaṣaṣnā ʿalayka min qablu wamā ẓalamnāhum walākin kānū anfusahum yaẓlimūn

ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِینَ عَمِلُوا۟ ٱلسُّوۤءَ بِجَهَـٰلَةࣲ ثُمَّ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ذَ ٰلِكَ وَأَصۡلَحُوۤا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهَا لَغَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمٌ ۝١١٩

Then your Lord for those who worked the bad with ignorance, then they repented after that and repaired, surely your Lord thereafter is Forgiver, Merciful.

thumma inna rabbaka lilladhīna ʿamilū l-sūa bijahālatin thumma tābū min baʿdi dhālika wa-aṣlaḥū inna rabbaka min baʿdihā laghafūrun raḥīmu

16 Way to Greatness

إِنَّ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ كَانَ أُمَّةࣰ قَانِتࣰا لِّلَّهِ حَنِیفࣰا وَلَمۡ یَكُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝١٢٠

Surely Abraham was an Ummah (Goodness Leader), devoutly obedient to Allah, a monotheist, and was not among the polytheists.

inna ib'rāhīma kāna ummatan qānitan lillahi ḥanīfan walam yaku mina l-mush'rikīn

شَاكِرࣰا لِّأَنۡعُمِهِۚ ٱجۡتَبَىٰهُ وَهَدَىٰهُ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝١٢١

Thankful of His graces. He elected him and guided him to a straight path.

shākiran li-anʿumihi ij'tabāhu wahadāhu ilā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi

وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَا حَسَنَةࣰۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١٢٢

And We gave him in the Dunya (world) an excellence, and he is in the Hereafter be among the righteous.

waātaynāhu fī l-dun'yā ḥasanatan wa-innahu fī l-ākhirati lamina l-ṣāliḥīn

ثُمَّ أَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ أَنِ ٱتَّبِعۡ مِلَّةَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ حَنِیفࣰاۖ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝١٢٣

Then We revealed to you: “That follows Abraham’s creed, Monotheist. He was not among the polytheists.”

thumma awḥaynā ilayka ani ittabiʿ millata ib'rāhīma ḥanīfan wamā kāna mina l-mush'rikīn

إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ ٱلسَّبۡتُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ ٱخۡتَلَفُوا۟ فِیهِۚ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَیَحۡكُمُ بَیۡنَهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فِیمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝١٢٤

Surely the Sabbath was set up only upon those who differed within it. And Your Lord will judge between them on The Resurrection Day in what they within it were differing.

innamā juʿila l-sabtu ʿalā alladhīna ikh'talafū fīhi wa-inna rabbaka layaḥkumu baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn

ٱدۡعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِیلِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلۡحِكۡمَةِ وَٱلۡمَوۡعِظَةِ ٱلۡحَسَنَةِۖ وَجَـٰدِلۡهُم بِٱلَّتِی هِیَ أَحۡسَنُۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِیلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِینَ ۝١٢٥

Call to your Lord’s pathway with wisdom and the excellent exhortation and argue with them by which it is best. Surely Your Lord is knower with whoever astray about His pathway, and He is knower with the guided ones.

ud'ʿu ilā sabīli rabbika bil-ḥik'mati wal-mawʿiẓati l-ḥasanati wajādil'hum bi-allatī hiya aḥsanu inna rabbaka huwa aʿlamu biman ḍalla ʿan sabīlihi wahuwa aʿlamu bil-muh'tadīn

وَإِنۡ عَاقَبۡتُمۡ فَعَاقِبُوا۟ بِمِثۡلِ مَا عُوقِبۡتُم بِهِۦۖ وَلَىِٕن صَبَرۡتُمۡ لَهُوَ خَیۡرࣱ لِّلصَّـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٢٦

And if you punish, so punish with the like of what you were punished with. And if you are patient, it is good for the patient ones.

wa-in ʿāqabtum faʿāqibū bimith'li mā ʿūqib'tum bihi wala-in ṣabartum lahuwa khayrun lilṣṣābirīn

وَٱصۡبِرۡ وَمَا صَبۡرُكَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِۚ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَلَا تَكُ فِی ضَیۡقࣲ مِّمَّا یَمۡكُرُونَ ۝١٢٧

And be patient. And your patience is only with Allah. And do not grieve upon them, and not be in distress with what they are guiling.

wa-iṣ'bir wamā ṣabruka illā bil-lahi walā taḥzan ʿalayhim walā taku fī ḍayqin mimmā yamkurūn

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّٱلَّذِینَ هُم مُّحۡسِنُونَ ۝١٢٨

Surely Allah is with those who show piety and those who are benefactors.

inna l-laha maʿa alladhīna ittaqaw wa-alladhīna hum muḥ'sinūn
