The Kneeling, Crouching — Dr Munir Munshey Translation

وَٱخۡتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَمَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مِن رِّزۡقࣲ فَأَحۡیَا بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَا وَتَصۡرِیفِ ٱلرِّیَـٰحِ ءَایَـٰتࣱ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

(There are signs) in the alternation of the night and the day, and (also) in the provisions, (the rain), Allah sends down from the sky, with which He brings the land back to life after its death. And in the movement of the winds are certainly signs for any nation that ponders

wa-ikh'tilāfi al-layli wal-nahāri wamā anzala l-lahu mina l-samāi min riz'qin fa-aḥyā bihi l-arḍa baʿda mawtihā wataṣrīfi l-riyāḥi āyātun liqawmin yaʿqilūn

45:6

تِلۡكَ ءَایَـٰتُ ٱللَّهِ نَتۡلُوهَا عَلَیۡكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ فَبِأَیِّ حَدِیثِۭ بَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ وَءَایَـٰتِهِۦ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

These are the verses of Allah. We recite them to you, (oh prophet), with the truth. After (rejecting) Allah and His verses, what else would they believe

til'ka āyātu l-lahi natlūhā ʿalayka bil-ḥaqi fabi-ayyi ḥadīthin baʿda l-lahi waāyātihi yu'minūn

45:7

وَیۡلࣱ لِّكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِیمࣲ ۝٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

Misery to every sinful liar

waylun likulli affākin athīmi

45:8

یَسۡمَعُ ءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِ ثُمَّ یُصِرُّ مُسۡتَكۡبِرࣰا كَأَن لَّمۡ یَسۡمَعۡهَاۖ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِیمࣲ ۝٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Misery to) the one who hears the verses of Allah being recited before him, yet acts like he has not heard them at all. Haughtily, he insists (upon his own notions). To such a one, give the news of an agonizing torment

yasmaʿu āyāti l-lahi tut'lā ʿalayhi thumma yuṣirru mus'takbiran ka-an lam yasmaʿhā fabashir'hu biʿadhābin alīmi

45:9

وَإِذَا عَلِمَ مِنۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا شَیۡءًا ٱتَّخَذَهَا هُزُوًاۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابࣱ مُّهِینࣱ ۝٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

He mocks whatever little he learns about Our verses. A humiliating punishment exists for such a one

wa-idhā ʿalima min āyātinā shayan ittakhadhahā huzuwan ulāika lahum ʿadhābun muhīnu

45:10

مِّن وَرَاۤىِٕهِمۡ جَهَنَّمُۖ وَلَا یُغۡنِی عَنۡهُم مَّا كَسَبُوا۟ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا مَا ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِیمٌ ۝١٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

The hellfire is their future! What they earn, (and amass in this world), would not help them at all. Those others they accept as patrons beside Allah would not help them. A tremendous torment is in store for them

min warāihim jahannamu walā yugh'nī ʿanhum mā kasabū shayan walā mā ittakhadhū min dūni l-lahi awliyāa walahum ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmu

45:11

هَـٰذَا هُدࣰىۖ وَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ لَهُمۡ عَذَابࣱ مِّن رِّجۡزٍ أَلِیمٌ ۝١١

Dr. Munir Munshey

This (Qur´an) is the guidance! There is an agonizing excruciating punishment for those who refuse to believe the signs of their Lord

hādhā hudan wa-alladhīna kafarū biāyāti rabbihim lahum ʿadhābun min rij'zin alīmu

45:12

۞ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ لِتَجۡرِیَ ٱلۡفُلۡكُ فِیهِ بِأَمۡرِهِۦ وَلِتَبۡتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝١٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

It is Allah Who has calmed the oceans for you, in order to let the ships sail through them by His command, and so that you may seek His blessings. Perhaps you would express gratitude

al-lahu alladhī sakhara lakumu l-baḥra litajriya l-ful'ku fīhi bi-amrihi walitabtaghū min faḍlihi walaʿallakum tashkurūn

45:13

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ جَمِیعࣰا مِّنۡهُۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَتَفَكَّرُونَ ۝١٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

And for you, He has subdued whatever is in the heavens and on earth _ everything (as a favor) from Him. In that, are certainly signs for a nation that ponders

wasakhara lakum mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi jamīʿan min'hu inna fī dhālika laāyātin liqawmin yatafakkarūn

45:14

قُل لِّلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ یَغۡفِرُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ أَیَّامَ ٱللَّهِ لِیَجۡزِیَ قَوۡمَۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝١٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Oh prophet), tell those who believe, "The unbelievers do not expect the ´days of Allah´ _(the Day of Resurrection and all days after that). Overlook them, so He may compensate people in accordance with the deeds they earn!"

qul lilladhīna āmanū yaghfirū lilladhīna lā yarjūna ayyāma l-lahi liyajziya qawman bimā kānū yaksibūn

45:15

مَنۡ عَمِلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا فَلِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَنۡ أَسَاۤءَ فَعَلَیۡهَاۖ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝١٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

The one doing the righteous deeds, as also the one committing evil deeds, does so for his own sake. Then, towards your Lord you shall (all) return

man ʿamila ṣāliḥan falinafsihi waman asāa faʿalayhā thumma ilā rabbikum tur'jaʿūn

45:16

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡحُكۡمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقۡنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِ وَفَضَّلۡنَـٰهُمۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

We had certainly given the book, the wisdom and the prophethood to the children of Israel. We blessed them with the wholesome provisions (of life). We had given them precedence over the whole world

walaqad ātaynā banī is'rāīla l-kitāba wal-ḥuk'ma wal-nubuwata warazaqnāhum mina l-ṭayibāti wafaḍḍalnāhum ʿalā l-ʿālamīn

45:17

وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُم بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَمۡرِۖ فَمَا ٱخۡتَلَفُوۤا۟ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡعِلۡمُ بَغۡیَۢا بَیۡنَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ یَقۡضِی بَیۡنَهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فِیمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝١٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

And We gave them clear instructions about every matter. It was only after (real) knowledge had come to them, that they indulged in internecine rivalry. It was (not out of ignorance but) with intent to wrong each other. Indeed, on the Day of Judgment your Lord will settle all matters of dispute between them

waātaynāhum bayyinātin mina l-amri famā ikh'talafū illā min baʿdi mā jāahumu l-ʿil'mu baghyan baynahum inna rabbaka yaqḍī baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn

45:18

ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَـٰكَ عَلَىٰ شَرِیعَةࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَمۡرِ فَٱتَّبِعۡهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعۡ أَهۡوَاۤءَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

Then, We prescribed for you a clear way (of life) concerning (the rules and rites of) religion. So follow that, and do not give in to the whims of those who do not know

thumma jaʿalnāka ʿalā sharīʿatin mina l-amri fa-ittabiʿ'hā walā tattabiʿ ahwāa alladhīna lā yaʿlamūn

45:19

إِنَّهُمۡ لَن یُغۡنُوا۟ عَنكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَیۡءࣰاۚ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ أَوۡلِیَاۤءُ بَعۡضࣲۖ وَٱللَّهُ وَلِیُّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝١٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

They shall not be able to help you a bit against Allah. Indeed, the evildoers are each other´s friends and patrons, and Allah is the friend of the righteous

innahum lan yugh'nū ʿanka mina l-lahi shayan wa-inna l-ẓālimīna baʿḍuhum awliyāu baʿḍin wal-lahu waliyyu l-mutaqīn

45:20

هَـٰذَا بَصَـٰۤىِٕرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدࣰى وَرَحۡمَةࣱ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یُوقِنُونَ ۝٢٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

This (Qur´an) is an insight for all mankind, the source of guidance and grace for any nation that affirms the faith

hādhā baṣāiru lilnnāsi wahudan waraḥmatun liqawmin yūqinūn

45:21

أَمۡ حَسِبَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱجۡتَرَحُوا۟ ٱلسَّیِّءَاتِ أَن نَّجۡعَلَهُمۡ كَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ سَوَاۤءࣰ مَّحۡیَاهُمۡ وَمَمَاتُهُمۡۚ سَاۤءَ مَا یَحۡكُمُونَ ۝٢١

Dr. Munir Munshey

Do they think that We would treat the unbelievers committing evil deeds, in just the same manner as We treat the believers performing the righteous deeds? Should their lives and their deaths be equal? How wrong is their judgment

am ḥasiba alladhīna ij'taraḥū l-sayiāti an najʿalahum ka-alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti sawāan maḥyāhum wamamātuhum sāa mā yaḥkumūn

45:22

وَخَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَلِتُجۡزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسِۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝٢٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

Allah created the heavens and the earth with justice. So that every being may receive compensation, commensurate with what it earns (in this life). No one shall be wronged

wakhalaqa l-lahu l-samāwāti wal-arḍa bil-ḥaqi walituj'zā kullu nafsin bimā kasabat wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn

45:23

أَفَرَءَیۡتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَـٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ وَأَضَلَّهُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمࣲ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ سَمۡعِهِۦ وَقَلۡبِهِۦ وَجَعَلَ عَلَىٰ بَصَرِهِۦ غِشَـٰوَةࣰ فَمَن یَهۡدِیهِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱللَّهِۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٢٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

And how about the one, who takes his fancies and fantasies as his god? Allah has purposely allowed him to go astray; Allah has placed a seal upon his heart and his hearing, and has laid a (thick) veil over his eyes. Now, other than Allah, who can guide him? Do they not heed, then

afara-ayta mani ittakhadha ilāhahu hawāhu wa-aḍallahu l-lahu ʿalā ʿil'min wakhatama ʿalā samʿihi waqalbihi wajaʿala ʿalā baṣarihi ghishāwatan faman yahdīhi min baʿdi l-lahi afalā tadhakkarūn

45:24

وَقَالُوا۟ مَا هِیَ إِلَّا حَیَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡیَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحۡیَا وَمَا یُهۡلِكُنَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلدَّهۡرُۚ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَ ٰلِكَ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍۖ إِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا یَظُنُّونَ ۝٢٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

They say, "There is nothing except our life in this world; here is where we die, or survive. There is nothing but fate, (just the vicissitudes of life) that destroys us." They do not have any (real) knowledge about that! They merely speculate

waqālū mā hiya illā ḥayātunā l-dun'yā namūtu wanaḥyā wamā yuh'likunā illā l-dahru wamā lahum bidhālika min ʿil'min in hum illā yaẓunnūn

45:25

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتُنَا بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ مَّا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمۡ إِلَّاۤ أَن قَالُوا۟ ٱئۡتُوا۟ بِءَابَاۤىِٕنَاۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٢٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

When Our clear unambiguous verses are read to them, they are left with no answer. By way of rebuttal they merely retort, "Bring our forefathers back to life, if you are right."

wa-idhā tut'lā ʿalayhim āyātunā bayyinātin mā kāna ḥujjatahum illā an qālū i'tū biābāinā in kuntum ṣādiqīn

45:26

قُلِ ٱللَّهُ یُحۡیِیكُمۡ ثُمَّ یُمِیتُكُمۡ ثُمَّ یَجۡمَعُكُمۡ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ لَا رَیۡبَ فِیهِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٢٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

Say, "Allah gives you life, and then He gives you death; and again, He will assemble you on the day of resurrection. No doubt about it! But most people do not know."

quli l-lahu yuḥ'yīkum thumma yumītukum thumma yajmaʿukum ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati lā rayba fīhi walākinna akthara l-nāsi lā yaʿlamūn

45:27

وَلِلَّهِ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَیَوۡمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ یَخۡسَرُ ٱلۡمُبۡطِلُونَ ۝٢٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

The kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. The day the hour (of Judgment) dawns, is the day the followers of falsehood _ (the followers of absurd notions, and the vain and trivial pursuits) _ will incur a severe loss

walillahi mul'ku l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wayawma taqūmu l-sāʿatu yawma-idhin yakhsaru l-mub'ṭilūn

45:28

وَتَرَىٰ كُلَّ أُمَّةࣲ جَاثِیَةࣰۚ كُلُّ أُمَّةࣲ تُدۡعَىٰۤ إِلَىٰ كِتَـٰبِهَا ٱلۡیَوۡمَ تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

(That day) you would see (the people of) every nation humbled and dropped on their knees. Each of them will be summoned to (look at) his book of deeds. (They would be told), "Today, you will face the results and consequences of what you used to do."

watarā kulla ummatin jāthiyatan kullu ummatin tud'ʿā ilā kitābihā l-yawma tuj'zawna mā kuntum taʿmalūn

45:29

هَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبُنَا یَنطِقُ عَلَیۡكُم بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسۡتَنسِخُ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

"This record of deeds prepared by Us speaks (for itself); and it is the precise evidence against you. Of course, We had recorded everything you used to do."

hādhā kitābunā yanṭiqu ʿalaykum bil-ḥaqi innā kunnā nastansikhu mā kuntum taʿmalūn

45:30

فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَیُدۡخِلُهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ فِی رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝٣٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

There, at that time, the Lord will admit into His mercy (only) the believers _ those with righteous deeds to their credit. And that is a definite unequivocal achievement

fa-ammā alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti fayud'khiluhum rabbuhum fī raḥmatihi dhālika huwa l-fawzu l-mubīn

45:31

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ أَفَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ ءَایَـٰتِی تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡكُمۡ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡ وَكُنتُمۡ قَوۡمࣰا مُّجۡرِمِینَ ۝٣١

Dr. Munir Munshey

To the unbelievers (Allah will say), "Is it not a fact, that My verses had been read to you? But you were arrogant and disdainful! You are the criminal nation!"

wa-ammā alladhīna kafarū afalam takun āyātī tut'lā ʿalaykum fa-is'takbartum wakuntum qawman muj'rimīn

45:32

وَإِذَا قِیلَ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقࣱّ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ لَا رَیۡبَ فِیهَا قُلۡتُم مَّا نَدۡرِی مَا ٱلسَّاعَةُ إِن نَّظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنࣰّا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُسۡتَیۡقِنِینَ ۝٣٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

"You were told that the promise of Allah is the absolute truth, and that there is no doubt about the hour (of Judgment)." But you said, "We do not know about the hour. We think it is only a belief; we are not certain."

wa-idhā qīla inna waʿda l-lahi ḥaqqun wal-sāʿatu lā rayba fīhā qul'tum mā nadrī mā l-sāʿatu in naẓunnu illā ẓannan wamā naḥnu bimus'tayqinīn

45:33

وَبَدَا لَهُمۡ سَیِّءَاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٣٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

The evil of their deeds will (then) become apparent to them. That, which they (now) ridicule, (will come back to haunt them and) will surround them

wabadā lahum sayyiātu mā ʿamilū waḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziūn

45:34

وَقِیلَ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ نَنسَىٰكُمۡ كَمَا نَسِیتُمۡ لِقَاۤءَ یَوۡمِكُمۡ هَـٰذَا وَمَأۡوَىٰكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِینَ ۝٣٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

They would be told, "Today, We shall spurn (and slight) you, just like you had ignored the meeting of this day. Fire shall be your abode, and you shall find no one to help you."

waqīla l-yawma nansākum kamā nasītum liqāa yawmikum hādhā wamawākumu l-nāru wamā lakum min nāṣirīn

45:35

ذَ ٰلِكُم بِأَنَّكُمُ ٱتَّخَذۡتُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ هُزُوࣰا وَغَرَّتۡكُمُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۚ فَٱلۡیَوۡمَ لَا یُخۡرَجُونَ مِنۡهَا وَلَا هُمۡ یُسۡتَعۡتَبُونَ ۝٣٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

"That is because you took the verses of Allah lightly; you mocked them. The (temporary and temporal) life of this world duped and deceived you. This day (onwards), you shall not be taken out of hellfire. Nor would you be asked to apologize and atone. "

dhālikum bi-annakumu ittakhadhtum āyāti l-lahi huzuwan wagharratkumu l-ḥayatu l-dun'yā fal-yawma lā yukh'rajūna min'hā walā hum yus'taʿtabūn

45:36

فَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَرَبِّ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٣٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

And all praise belongs to the Lord of the heavens, the Lord of the earth, the Lord of the (entire) universe

falillahi l-ḥamdu rabbi l-samāwāti warabbi l-arḍi rabbi l-ʿālamīn

45:37

وَلَهُ ٱلۡكِبۡرِیَاۤءُ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٣٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

The glory and the grandeur in the heavens and on earth belong to Him (exclusively). He is the Almighty, the all-Wise

walahu l-kib'riyāu fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīm
