96:1 ›
اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
(O Beloved!) Read (commencing) with the Name of Allah, Who has created (everything)
Iqra/ bi-ismi rabbika allathee khalaqa
96:2 ›
خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
He created man from a hanging mass (clinging) like a leech (to the mother’s womb)
Khalaqa al-insana min AAalaqin
96:3 ›
اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Read, and your Lord is Most Generous
Iqra/ warabbuka al-akramu
96:4 ›
الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Who taught man (reading and writing) by the pen
Allathee AAallama bialqalami
96:5 ›
عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Who (besides that) taught man (all that) which he did not know. Or Who imparted to (the most eminent of) mankind (the chosen Prophet Muhammad [blessings and peace be upon him] without using any pen) the whole knowledge that he was not aware of before
AAallama al-insana ma lam yaAAlam
96:6 ›
كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
(But) the fact is that (the disobedient) man rebels
Kalla inna al-insana layatgha
96:7 ›
أَن رَّآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
For the reason that (apparently) he finds himself self-sufficient (in the world)
An raahu istaghna
96:8 ›
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Surely, (every man) has to return to your Lord
Inna ila rabbika alrrujAAa
96:9 ›
أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Have you seen him who prevents
Araayta allathee yanha
96:10 ›
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
The servant (of Allah) when he prays? Or The (beloved and the exalted) servant of Allah (Muhammad [blessings and peace be upon him]) when he offers Prayers
AAabdan itha salla
96:11 ›
أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Well, imagine! If he had been rightly guided
Araayta in kana AAala alhuda
96:12 ›
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Or if he had commanded (the people) to be pious (how beneficial it would have been)
Aw amara bialttaqwa
96:13 ›
أَرَأَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
But see now when he has rejected (the true Din [Religion]) and has turned away (from you, what torment is he going to face?
Araayta in kaththaba watawalla
96:14 ›
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Does he not know that Allah monitors (minutely all his conduct)
Alam yaAAlam bi-anna Allaha yara
96:15 ›
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Beware! If he does not desist (from the denigration of the Holy Prophet [blessings and peace be upon him] and antagonism against the true Din [Religion]), We shall certainly grab his forehead and drag him by the forelock
Kalla la-in lam yantahi lanasfaAAan bialnnasiyati
96:16 ›
نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
His lying (and) sinful forehead
Nasiyatin kathibatin khati-atin</b
96:17 ›
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Then let him call his companions (for help)
FalyadAAu nadiyahu
96:18 ›
سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
We too shall soon call (Our) guards (the angels appointed to inflict the punishment of Hell)
SanadAAu alzzabaniyata
96:19 ›
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِب
Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
No indeed! Do not pay any heed to his doings and, (O Esteemed Beloved,) persist in prostration and keep drawing near (to Us more and more)
Kalla la tutiAAhu waosjud waiqtarib
