۞ وَلَوۡ یُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسۡتِعۡجَالَهُم بِٱلۡخَیۡرِ لَقُضِیَ إِلَیۡهِمۡ أَجَلُهُمۡۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ لِقَاۤءَنَا فِی طُغۡیَـٰنِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if Allah was to hasten for the people the evil [they invoke] as He hastens for them the good, their term would have been ended for them. But We leave the ones who do not expect the meeting with Us, in their transgression, wandering blindl
Abdel Haleem: If God were to hasten on for people the harm [they have earned] as they wish to hasten on the good, their time would already be up. But We leave those who do not expect to meet Us to wander blindly in their excesses
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If Allah were to hasten on for men the ill (that they have earned) as they would hasten on the good, their respite would already have expired. But We suffer those who look not for the meeting with Us to wander blindly on in their contumacy
Jonah 10:50 Verb
قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتُمۡ إِنۡ أَتَىٰكُمۡ عَذَابُهُۥ بَیَـٰتًا أَوۡ نَهَارࣰا مَّاذَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُ مِنۡهُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Have you considered: if His punishment should come to you by night or by day - for which [aspect] of it would the criminals be impatient?"
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘Think: if His punishment were to come to you, during the night or day, what part of it would the guilty wish to hasten
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: Have ye thought: When His doom cometh unto you as a raid by night, or in the (busy) day; what is there of it that the guilty ones desire to hasten
Jonah 10:51 Verb
أَثُمَّ إِذَا مَا وَقَعَ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦۤۚ ءَاۤلۡءَـٰنَ وَقَدۡ كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then is it that when it has [actually] occurred you will believe in it? Now? And you were [once] for it impatien
Abdel Haleem: Will you believe in it, when it actually happens?’ It will be said, ‘Now [you believe], when [before] you sought to hasten it?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Is it (only) then, when it hath befallen you, that ye will believe? What! (Believe) now, when (until now) ye have been hastening it on (through disbelief)
The Thunder 13:6 Verb
وَیَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلسَّیِّئَةِ قَبۡلَ ٱلۡحَسَنَةِ وَقَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِهِمُ ٱلۡمَثُلَـٰتُۗ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو مَغۡفِرَةࣲ لِّلنَّاسِ عَلَىٰ ظُلۡمِهِمۡۖ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَشَدِیدُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ ۝٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They impatiently urge you to bring about evil before good, while there has already occurred before them similar punishments [to what they demand]. And indeed, your Lord is full of forgiveness for the people despite their wrongdoing, and indeed, your Lord is severe in penalty
Abdel Haleem: They ask you to bring on the punishment rather than any promised rewards, though there have been many examples before them––your Lord is full of forgiveness for people, despite their wrongdoing, but He is truly severe in punishment
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they bid thee hasten on the evil rather than the good, when exemplary punishments have indeed occurred before them. But lo! thy Lord is rich in pardon for mankind despite their wrong, and lo! thy Lord is strong in punishment
The Bee 16:1 Verb
۞ أَتَىٰۤ أَمۡرُ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُوهُۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The command of Allah is coming, so be not impatient for it. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: God’s Judgement is coming, so do not ask to bring it on sooner. Glory be to Him! He is far above anything they join with Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The commandment of Allah will come to pass, so seek not ye to hasten it. Glorified and Exalted be He above all that they associate (with Him)
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:18 Verb
مَّن كَانَ یُرِیدُ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلۡنَا لَهُۥ فِیهَا مَا نَشَاۤءُ لِمَن نُّرِیدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَا لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ یَصۡلَىٰهَا مَذۡمُومࣰا مَّدۡحُورࣰا ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Whoever should desire the immediate - We hasten for him from it what We will to whom We intend. Then We have made for him Hell, which he will [enter to] burn, censured and banished
Abdel Haleem: If anyone desires [only] the fleeting life, We speed up whatever We will in it, for whoever We wish; in the end We have prepared Hell for him in which to burn, disgraced and rejected
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Whoso desireth that (life) which hasteneth away, We hasten for him therein what We will for whom We please. And afterward We have appointed for him hell; he will endure the heat thereof, condemned, rejected
The Cave 18:58 Verb
وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ذُو ٱلرَّحۡمَةِۖ لَوۡ یُؤَاخِذُهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ لَعَجَّلَ لَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابَۚ بَل لَّهُم مَّوۡعِدࣱ لَّن یَجِدُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦ مَوۡىِٕلࣰا ۝٥٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And your Lord is the Forgiving, full of mercy. If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. Rather, for them is an appointment from which they will never find an escape
Abdel Haleem: Your Lord is the Most Forgiving, and full of mercy: if He took them to task for the wrongs they have done, He would hasten their punishment on. They have an appointed time from which they will have no escape
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Thy Lord is the Forgiver, Full of Mercy. If He took them to task (now) for what they earn, He would hasten on the doom for them; but theirs is an appointed term from which they will find no escape
Mary 19:84 Verb
فَلَا تَعۡجَلۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡۖ إِنَّمَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمۡ عَدࣰّا ۝٨٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So be not impatient over them. We only count out to them a [limited] number
Abdel Haleem: There is no need for you to be impatient concerning them: We are counting down their [allotted] time
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So make no haste against them (O Muhammad). We do but number unto them a sum (of days)
Ta Ha 20:114 Verb
فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۗ وَلَا تَعۡجَلۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن یُقۡضَىٰۤ إِلَیۡكَ وَحۡیُهُۥۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِی عِلۡمࣰا ۝١١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So high [above all] is Allah , the Sovereign, the Truth. And, [O Muhammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur'an before its revelation is completed to you, and say, "My Lord, increase me in knowledge."
Abdel Haleem: exalted be God, the one who is truly in control. [Prophet], do not rush to recite before the revelation is fully complete but say, ‘Lord, increase me in knowledge!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then exalted be Allah, the True King! And hasten not (O Muhammad) with the Qur'an ere its revelation hath been perfected unto thee, and say: My Lord! Increase me in knowledge
Ta Ha 20:83 Verb
۞ وَمَاۤ أَعۡجَلَكَ عَن قَوۡمِكَ یَـٰمُوسَىٰ ۝٨٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [ Allah ] said, "And what made you hasten from your people, O Moses?"
Abdel Haleem: [God said], ‘Moses, what has made you come ahead of your people in such haste?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And (it was said): What hath made thee hasten from thy folk, O Moses
Ta Ha 20:84 Verb
قَالَ هُمۡ أُو۟لَاۤءِ عَلَىٰۤ أَثَرِی وَعَجِلۡتُ إِلَیۡكَ رَبِّ لِتَرۡضَىٰ ۝٨٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased."
Abdel Haleem: and he said, ‘They are following in my footsteps. I rushed to You, Lord, to please You,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: They are close upon my track. I hastened unto Thee, my Lord, that Thou mightest be well pleased
The Prophets 21:37 Verb
خُلِقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ مِنۡ عَجَلࣲۚ سَأُو۟رِیكُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِی فَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ ۝٣٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Man was created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not impatiently urge Me
Abdel Haleem: Man was created hasty: I will show you My signs soon, so do not ask Me to hasten them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Man is made of haste. I shall show you My portents, but ask Me not to hasten
The Pilgrimage 22:47 Verb
وَیَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلۡعَذَابِ وَلَن یُخۡلِفَ ٱللَّهُ وَعۡدَهُۥۚ وَإِنَّ یَوۡمًا عِندَ رَبِّكَ كَأَلۡفِ سَنَةࣲ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ ۝٤٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they urge you to hasten the punishment. But Allah will never fail in His promise. And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count
Abdel Haleem: They will challenge you [Prophet] to hasten the punishment. God will not fail in His promise- a Day with your Lord is like a thousand years by your reckoning
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they will bid thee hasten on the Doom, and Allah faileth not His promise, but lo! a Day with Allah is as a thousand years of what ye reckon
The Poets 26:204 Verb
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝٢٠٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So for Our punishment are they impatient
Abdel Haleem: How can they ask that Our punishment be brought to them sooner
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Would they (now) hasten on Our doom
The Ant, The Ants 27:46 Verb
قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ لِمَ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ بِٱلسَّیِّئَةِ قَبۡلَ ٱلۡحَسَنَةِۖ لَوۡلَا تَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ ۝٤٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?"
Abdel Haleem: Salih said, ‘My people, why do you rush to bring [forward] what is bad rather than good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of God, so that you may be given mercy?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: O my people! Why will ye hasten on the evil rather than the good? Why will ye not ask pardon of Allah, that ye may receive mercy
The Ant, The Ants 27:72 Verb
قُلۡ عَسَىٰۤ أَن یَكُونَ رَدِفَ لَكُم بَعۡضُ ٱلَّذِی تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝٧٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Perhaps it is close behind you - some of that for which you are impatient
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘Maybe some of what you seek to hasten is near at hand.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: It may be that a part of that which ye would hasten on is close behind you
The Spider 29:53 Verb
وَیَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلۡعَذَابِ وَلَوۡلَاۤ أَجَلࣱ مُّسَمࣰّى لَّجَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ وَلَیَأۡتِیَنَّهُم بَغۡتَةࣰ وَهُمۡ لَا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٥٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they urge you to hasten the punishment. And if not for [the decree of] a specified term, punishment would have reached them. But it will surely come to them suddenly while they perceive not
Abdel Haleem: They challenge you to hasten the punishment: they would already have received a punishment if God had not set a time for it, and indeed it will come to them suddenly and catch them unawares
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They bid thee hasten on the doom (of Allah). And if a term had not been appointed, the doom would assuredly have come unto them (ere now). And verily it will come upon them suddenly when they perceive not
The Spider 29:54 Verb
یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلۡعَذَابِ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِیطَةُۢ بِٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٥٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They urge you to hasten the punishment. And indeed, Hell will be encompassing of the disbeliever
Abdel Haleem: They challenge you to hasten the punishment: Hell will encompass all those who deny the truth
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They bid thee hasten on the doom, when lo! hell verily will encompass the disbeliever
The Cow 2:203 Verb
۞ وَٱذۡكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فِیۤ أَیَّامࣲ مَّعۡدُودَ ٰتࣲۚ فَمَن تَعَجَّلَ فِی یَوۡمَیۡنِ فَلَاۤ إِثۡمَ عَلَیۡهِ وَمَن تَأَخَّرَ فَلَاۤ إِثۡمَ عَلَیۡهِۖ لِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰۗ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّكُمۡ إِلَیۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ ۝٢٠٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And remember Allah during [specific] numbered days. Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days - there is no sin upon him; and whoever delays [until the third] - there is no sin upon him - for him who fears Allah . And fear Allah and know that unto Him you will be gathered
Abdel Haleem: Remember God on the appointed days. If anyone is in a hurry to leave after two days, there is no blame on him, nor is there any blame on anyone who stays on, so long as they are mindful of God. Be mindful of God, and remember that you will be gathered to Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Remember Allah through the appointed days. Then whoso hasteneth (his departure) by two days, it is no sin for him, and whoso delayeth, it is no sin for him; that is for him who wardeth off (evil). Be careful of your duty to Allah, and know that unto Him ye will be gathered

Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:18 Verb
یَسۡتَعۡجِلُ بِهَا ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهَاۖ وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مُشۡفِقُونَ مِنۡهَا وَیَعۡلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا ٱلۡحَقُّۗ أَلَاۤ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یُمَارُونَ فِی ٱلسَّاعَةِ لَفِی ضَلَـٰلِۭ بَعِیدٍ ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Those who do not believe in it are impatient for it, but those who believe are fearful of it and know that it is the truth. Unquestionably, those who dispute concerning the Hour are in extreme error
Abdel Haleem: those who do not believe in it seek to hasten it, but the believers stand in awe of it. They know it to be the Truth; those who argue about the Hour are far, far astray
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Those who believe not therein seek to hasten it, while those who believe are fearful of it and know that it is the Truth. Are not they who dispute, in doubt concerning the Hour, far astray
The Wind-curved Sandhills, The Dunes, The Sandhills 46:24 Verb
فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡهُ عَارِضࣰا مُّسۡتَقۡبِلَ أَوۡدِیَتِهِمۡ قَالُوا۟ هَـٰذَا عَارِضࣱ مُّمۡطِرُنَاۚ بَلۡ هُوَ مَا ٱسۡتَعۡجَلۡتُم بِهِۦۖ رِیحࣱ فِیهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Rather, it is that for which you were impatient: a wind, within it a painful punishment
Abdel Haleem: When they saw a cloud approaching their valley, they said, ‘This cloud will give us rain!’ ‘No indeed! It is what you wanted to hasten: a storm-wind bearing a painful punishmen
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then, when they beheld it as a dense cloud coming toward their valleys, they said: Here is a cloud bringing us rain. Nay, but it is that which ye did seek to hasten, a wind wherein is painful torment
The Wind-curved Sandhills, The Dunes, The Sandhills 46:35 Verb
فَٱصۡبِرۡ كَمَا صَبَرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلۡعَزۡمِ مِنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ وَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِل لَّهُمۡۚ كَأَنَّهُمۡ یَوۡمَ یَرَوۡنَ مَا یُوعَدُونَ لَمۡ یَلۡبَثُوۤا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةࣰ مِّن نَّهَارِۭۚ بَلَـٰغࣱۚ فَهَلۡ یُهۡلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ ۝٣٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So be patient, [O Muhammad], as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them. It will be - on the Day they see that which they are promised - as though they had not remained [in the world] except an hour of a day. [This is] notification. And will [any] be destroyed except the defiantly disobedient people
Abdel Haleem: Be steadfast [Muhammad], like those messengers of firm resolve. Do not seek to hasten the punishment for the disbelievers: on the Day they see what they had been warned about, it will seem to them that they lingered no more than a single hour of a single day [in this life]. This is a warning. Shall any be destroyed except the defiant
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then have patience (O Muhammad) even as the stout of heart among the messengers (of old) had patience, and seek not to hasten on (the doom) for them. On the day when they see that which they are promised (it will seem to them) as though they had tarried but an hour of daylight. A clear message. Shall any be destroyed save evil-living folk
Victory, Conquest 48:20 Verb
وَعَدَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَغَانِمَ كَثِیرَةࣰ تَأۡخُذُونَهَا فَعَجَّلَ لَكُمۡ هَـٰذِهِۦ وَكَفَّ أَیۡدِیَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَنكُمۡ وَلِتَكُونَ ءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ وَیَهۡدِیَكُمۡ صِرَ ٰطࣰا مُّسۡتَقِیمࣰا ۝٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah has promised you much booty that you will take [in the future] and has hastened for you this [victory] and withheld the hands of people from you - that it may be a sign for the believers and [that] He may guide you to a straight path
Abdel Haleem: He has promised you [people] many future gains: He has hastened this gain for you. He has held back the hands of hostile people from you as a sign for the faithful and He will guide you to a straight path
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah promiseth you much booty that ye will capture, and hath given you this in advance, and hath withheld men's hands from you, that it may be a token for the believers, and that He may guide you on a right path
The Winnowing Winds, The Scatterers 51:14 Verb
ذُوقُوا۟ فِتۡنَتَكُمۡ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِی كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient."
Abdel Haleem: ‘Taste the punishment! This is what you wished to hasten.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten
The Winnowing Winds, The Scatterers 51:59 Verb
فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذَنُوبࣰا مِّثۡلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصۡحَـٰبِهِمۡ فَلَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ ۝٥٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their predecessors, so let them not impatiently urge Me
Abdel Haleem: The evildoers, like their predecessors, will have a share of punishment- they need not ask Me to hasten it
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And lo! for those who (now) do wrong there is an evil day like unto the evil day (which came for) their likes (of old); so let them not ask Me to hasten on (that day)
Cattle, Livestock 6:57 Verb
قُلۡ إِنِّی عَلَىٰ بَیِّنَةࣲ مِّن رَّبِّی وَكَذَّبۡتُم بِهِۦۚ مَا عِندِی مَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ بِهِۦۤۚ إِنِ ٱلۡحُكۡمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِۖ یَقُصُّ ٱلۡحَقَّۖ وَهُوَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡفَـٰصِلِینَ ۝٥٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Indeed, I am on clear evidence from my Lord, and you have denied it. I do not have that for which you are impatient. The decision is only for Allah . He relates the truth, and He is the best of deciders."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘I stand on clear proof from my Lord, though you deny it. What you seek to hasten is not within my power. Judgement is for God alone: He tells the truth, and He is the best of judges.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: I am (relying) on clear proof from my Lord, while ye deny Him. I have not that for which ye are impatient. The decision is for Allah only. He telleth the truth and He is the Best of Deciders
Cattle, Livestock 6:58 Verb
قُل لَّوۡ أَنَّ عِندِی مَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ بِهِۦ لَقُضِیَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٥٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "If I had that for which you are impatient, the matter would have been decided between me and you, but Allah is most knowing of the wrongdoers."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘If what you seek to hasten were within my power, the matter would be settled between you and me, but God knows best who does wrong.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: If I had that for which ye are impatient, then would the case (ere this) have been decided between me and you. Allah is Best Aware of the wrong-doers
The Rising of the Dead, Resurrection 75:16 Verb
لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦۤ ۝١٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet], do not rush your tongue in an attempt to hasten [your memorization of] the Revelation
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:150 Verb
وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوسَىٰۤ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ غَضۡبَـٰنَ أَسِفࣰا قَالَ بِئۡسَمَا خَلَفۡتُمُونِی مِنۢ بَعۡدِیۤۖ أَعَجِلۡتُمۡ أَمۡرَ رَبِّكُمۡۖ وَأَلۡقَى ٱلۡأَلۡوَاحَ وَأَخَذَ بِرَأۡسِ أَخِیهِ یَجُرُّهُۥۤ إِلَیۡهِۚ قَالَ ٱبۡنَ أُمَّ إِنَّ ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱسۡتَضۡعَفُونِی وَكَادُوا۟ یَقۡتُلُونَنِی فَلَا تُشۡمِتۡ بِیَ ٱلۡأَعۡدَاۤءَ وَلَا تَجۡعَلۡنِی مَعَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said, "How wretched is that by which you have replaced me after [my departure]. Were you impatient over the matter of your Lord?" And he threw down the tablets and seized his brother by [the hair of] his head, pulling him toward him. [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, indeed the people oppressed me and were about to kill me, so let not the enemies rejoice over me and do not place me among the wrongdoing people."
Abdel Haleem: On his return to his people, angry and aggrieved, Moses said, ‘How foul and evil is what you have done in my absence! Were you so keen to bring your Lord’s judgement forward?’ He threw the tablets down and seized his brother by the hair, pulling him towards him. Aaron said, ‘Son of my mother, these people overpowered me! They almost killed me! Do not give my enemies reason to rejoice! Do not include me with these evildoers!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when Moses returned unto his people, angry and grieved, he said: Evil is that (course) which ye took after I had left you. Would ye hasten on the judgment of your Lord? And he cast down the tablets, and he seized his brother by the head, dragging him toward him. He said: Son of my mother! Lo! the folk did judge me weak and almost killed me. Oh, make not mine enemies to triumph over me and place me not among the evil-doers

Jonah 10:11 Noun
۞ وَلَوۡ یُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسۡتِعۡجَالَهُم بِٱلۡخَیۡرِ لَقُضِیَ إِلَیۡهِمۡ أَجَلُهُمۡۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ لِقَاۤءَنَا فِی طُغۡیَـٰنِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if Allah was to hasten for the people the evil [they invoke] as He hastens for them the good, their term would have been ended for them. But We leave the ones who do not expect the meeting with Us, in their transgression, wandering blindl
Abdel Haleem: If God were to hasten on for people the harm [they have earned] as they wish to hasten on the good, their time would already be up. But We leave those who do not expect to meet Us to wander blindly in their excesses
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If Allah were to hasten on for men the ill (that they have earned) as they would hasten on the good, their respite would already have expired. But We suffer those who look not for the meeting with Us to wander blindly on in their contumacy
Hud 11:69 Noun
وَلَقَدۡ جَاۤءَتۡ رُسُلُنَاۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ بِٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ قَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمࣰاۖ قَالَ سَلَـٰمࣱۖ فَمَا لَبِثَ أَن جَاۤءَ بِعِجۡلٍ حَنِیذࣲ ۝٦٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And certainly did Our messengers come to Abraham with good tidings; they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace," and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf
Abdel Haleem: To Abraham Our messengers brought good news. They said, ‘Peace.’ He answered, ‘Peace,’ and without delay he brought in a roasted calf
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And Our messengers cam unto Abraham with good news. They said: Peace! He answered: Peace! and delayed not to bring a roasted calf
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:11 Noun
وَیَدۡعُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ بِٱلشَّرِّ دُعَاۤءَهُۥ بِٱلۡخَیۡرِۖ وَكَانَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ عَجُولࣰا ۝١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And man supplicates for evil as he supplicates for good, and man is ever hasty
Abdel Haleem: Yet man prays for harm, just as he prays for good: man is ever hasty
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Man prayeth for evil as he prayeth for good; for man was ever hasty
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:18 Noun
مَّن كَانَ یُرِیدُ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلۡنَا لَهُۥ فِیهَا مَا نَشَاۤءُ لِمَن نُّرِیدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَا لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ یَصۡلَىٰهَا مَذۡمُومࣰا مَّدۡحُورࣰا ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Whoever should desire the immediate - We hasten for him from it what We will to whom We intend. Then We have made for him Hell, which he will [enter to] burn, censured and banished
Abdel Haleem: If anyone desires [only] the fleeting life, We speed up whatever We will in it, for whoever We wish; in the end We have prepared Hell for him in which to burn, disgraced and rejected
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Whoso desireth that (life) which hasteneth away, We hasten for him therein what We will for whom We please. And afterward We have appointed for him hell; he will endure the heat thereof, condemned, rejected
Ta Ha 20:88 Noun
فَأَخۡرَجَ لَهُمۡ عِجۡلࣰا جَسَدࣰا لَّهُۥ خُوَارࣱ فَقَالُوا۟ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَـٰهُكُمۡ وَإِلَـٰهُ مُوسَىٰ فَنَسِیَ ۝٨٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And he extracted for them [the statue of] a calf which had a lowing sound, and they said, "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot."
Abdel Haleem: but he [used the molten jewellery to] produce an image of a calf which made a lowing sound, and they said, ‘This is your god and Moses’ god, but he has forgotten.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then he produced for them a calf, of saffron hue, which gave forth a lowing sound. And they cried: This is your god and the god of Moses, but he hath forgotten
The Prophets 21:37 Noun
خُلِقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ مِنۡ عَجَلࣲۚ سَأُو۟رِیكُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِی فَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ ۝٣٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Man was created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not impatiently urge Me
Abdel Haleem: Man was created hasty: I will show you My signs soon, so do not ask Me to hasten them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Man is made of haste. I shall show you My portents, but ask Me not to hasten
The Cow 2:51 Noun
وَإِذۡ وَ ٰعَدۡنَا مُوسَىٰۤ أَرۡبَعِینَ لَیۡلَةࣰ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذۡتُمُ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ وَأَنتُمۡ ظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [recall] when We made an appointment with Moses for forty nights. Then you took [for worship] the calf after him, while you were wrongdoers
Abdel Haleem: We appointed forty nights for Moses [on Mount Sinai] and then, while he was away, you took to worshipping the calf- a terrible wrong
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when We did appoint for Moses forty nights (of solitude), and then ye chose the calf, when he had gone from you, and were wrong-doers
The Cow 2:54 Noun
وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِۦ یَـٰقَوۡمِ إِنَّكُمۡ ظَلَمۡتُمۡ أَنفُسَكُم بِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ فَتُوبُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ بَارِىِٕكُمۡ فَٱقۡتُلُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَكُمۡ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ عِندَ بَارِىِٕكُمۡ فَتَابَ عَلَیۡكُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٥٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "O my people, indeed you have wronged yourselves by your taking of the calf [for worship]. So repent to your Creator and kill yourselves. That is best for [all of] you in the sight of your Creator." Then He accepted your repentance; indeed, He is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful
Abdel Haleem: Moses said to his people, ‘My people, you have wronged yourselves by worshipping the calf, so repent to your Maker and kill [the guilty among] you. That is the best you can do in the eyes of your Maker.’ He accepted your repentance: He is the Ever Relenting and the Most Merciful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when Moses said unto his people: O my people! Ye have wronged yourselves by your choosing of the calf (for worship) so turn in penitence to your Creator, and kill (the guilty) yourselves. That will be best for you with your Creator and He will relent toward you. Lo! He is the Relenting, the Merciful
The Cow 2:92 Noun
۞ وَلَقَدۡ جَاۤءَكُم مُّوسَىٰ بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذۡتُمُ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ وَأَنتُمۡ ظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝٩٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And Moses had certainly brought you clear proofs. Then you took the calf [in worship] after that, while you were wrongdoers
Abdel Haleem: Moses brought you clear signs, but then, while he was away, you chose to worship the calf- you did wrong.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And Moses came unto you with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), yet, while he was away, ye chose the calf (for worship) and ye were wrong-doers
The Cow 2:93 Noun
وَإِذۡ أَخَذۡنَا مِیثَـٰقَكُمۡ وَرَفَعۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمُ ٱلطُّورَ خُذُوا۟ مَاۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰكُم بِقُوَّةࣲ وَٱسۡمَعُوا۟ۖ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعۡنَا وَعَصَیۡنَا وَأُشۡرِبُوا۟ فِی قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ بِكُفۡرِهِمۡۚ قُلۡ بِئۡسَمَا یَأۡمُرُكُم بِهِۦۤ إِیمَـٰنُكُمۡ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٩٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [recall] when We took your covenant and raised over you the mount, [saying], "Take what We have given you with determination and listen." They said [instead], "We hear and disobey." And their hearts absorbed [the worship of] the calf because of their disbelief. Say, "How wretched is that which your faith enjoins upon you, if you should be believers."
Abdel Haleem: Remember when We took your pledge, making the mountain tower above you, and said, ‘Hold on firmly to what We have given you, and listen to [what We say].’ They said, ‘We hear and we disobey,’ and through their disbelief they were made to drink [the love of] the calf deep into their hearts
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when We made with you a covenant and caused the Mount to tower above you, (saying): Hold fast by that which We have given you, and hear (Our Word), they said: We hear and we rebel. And (worship of) the calf was made to sink into their hearts because of their rejection (of the covenant). Say (unto them): Evil is that which your belief enjoineth on you, if ye are believers
Women 4:153 Noun
یَسۡءَلُكَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ أَن تُنَزِّلَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ كِتَـٰبࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِۚ فَقَدۡ سَأَلُوا۟ مُوسَىٰۤ أَكۡبَرَ مِن ذَ ٰلِكَ فَقَالُوۤا۟ أَرِنَا ٱللَّهَ جَهۡرَةࣰ فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ بِظُلۡمِهِمۡۚ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَاۤءَتۡهُمُ ٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتُ فَعَفَوۡنَا عَن ذَ ٰلِكَۚ وَءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَىٰ سُلۡطَـٰنࣰا مُّبِینࣰا ۝١٥٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The People of the Scripture ask you to bring down to them a book from the heaven. But they had asked of Moses [even] greater than that and said, "Show us Allah outright," so the thunderbolt struck them for their wrongdoing. Then they took the calf [for worship] after clear evidences had come to them, and We pardoned that. And We gave Moses a clear authority
Abdel Haleem: The People of the Book demand that you [Prophet] make a book physically come down to them from heaven, but they demanded even more than that of Moses when they said, ‘Show us God face to face,’ and were struck by the thunderbolt for their presumption. Even after clear revelations had come down to them, they took the calf as an object of worship, yet We pardoned this, and gave Moses clear authority
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The people of the Scripture ask of thee that thou shouldst cause an (actual) Book to descend upon them from heaven. They asked a greater thing of Moses aforetime, for they said: Show us Allah plainly. The storm of lightning seized them for their wickedness. Then (even) after that) they chose the calf (for worship) after clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty) had come unto them. And We forgave them that! And We bestowed on Moses evident authority
The Winnowing Winds, The Scatterers 51:26 Noun
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهِۦ فَجَاۤءَ بِعِجۡلࣲ سَمِینࣲ ۝٢٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] cal
Abdel Haleem: He turned quickly to his household, brought out a fat calf
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf
The Rising of the Dead, Resurrection 75:20 Noun
كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ ۝٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): No! But you love the immediat
Abdel Haleem: Truly you [people] love this fleeting worl
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Nay, but ye do love the fleeting No
Man 76:27 Noun
إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ یُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ وَیَذَرُونَ وَرَاۤءَهُمۡ یَوۡمࣰا ثَقِیلࣰا ۝٢٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them a grave Day
Abdel Haleem: These people love the fleeting life. They put aside [all thoughts of] a Heavy Day
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! these love fleeting life, and put behind them (the remembrance of) a grievous day
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:148 Noun
وَٱتَّخَذَ قَوۡمُ مُوسَىٰ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ مِنۡ حُلِیِّهِمۡ عِجۡلࣰا جَسَدࣰا لَّهُۥ خُوَارٌۚ أَلَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ أَنَّهُۥ لَا یُكَلِّمُهُمۡ وَلَا یَهۡدِیهِمۡ سَبِیلًاۘ ٱتَّخَذُوهُ وَكَانُوا۟ ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٤٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And the people of Moses made, after [his departure], from their ornaments a calf - an image having a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to a way? They took it [for worship], and they were wrongdoers
Abdel Haleem: In his absence, Moses’ people took to worshipping a mere shape that made sounds like a cow- a calf made from their jewellery. Could they not see that it did not speak to them or guide them in any way? Yet they took it for worship: they were evildoers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And the folk of Moses, after (he left them), chose a calf (for worship), (made) out of their ornaments, of saffron hue, which gave a lowing sound. Saw they not that it spake not unto them nor guided them to any way? They chose it, and became wrong-doers
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:152 Noun
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ سَیَنَالُهُمۡ غَضَبࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡ وَذِلَّةࣱ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۚ وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُفۡتَرِینَ ۝١٥٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, those who took the calf [for worship] will obtain anger from their Lord and humiliation in the life of this world, and thus do We recompense the inventors [of falsehood]
Abdel Haleem: Those who took to worshipping the calf will be afflicted by their Lord’s wrath, and by disgrace in this life.’ This is the way We repay those who invent such falsehoods
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! Those who chose the calf (for worship), terror from their Lord and humiliation will come upon them in the life of the world. Thus do We requite those who invent a lie
