The Prophets — Sayyed Abbas Sadr Ameli Translation

لَاهِیَةࣰ قُلُوبُهُمۡۗ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجۡوَى ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ هَلۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡۖ أَفَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلسِّحۡرَ وَأَنتُمۡ تُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Their hearts trifling, and those who did wrong (to themselves) counsel together in secret (saying): �Is this (man) other than a human being like yourselves? Will you then go to sorcery while you see (it)?

lāhiyatan qulūbuhum wa-asarrū l-najwā alladhīna ẓalamū hal hādhā illā basharun mith'lukum afatatūna l-siḥ'ra wa-antum tub'ṣirūn

21:4

قَالَ رَبِّی یَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He said: �My Lord knows (every) word (spoken) in the heaven and the earth, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-knowing�

qāla rabbī yaʿlamu l-qawla fī l-samāi wal-arḍi wahuwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

21:5

بَلۡ قَالُوۤا۟ أَضۡغَـٰثُ أَحۡلَـٰمِۭ بَلِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُ بَلۡ هُوَ شَاعِرࣱ فَلۡیَأۡتِنَا بِءَایَةࣲ كَمَاۤ أُرۡسِلَ ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ ۝٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

�Nay!�, They say: �(These are) medleys of dreams! Nay! he has forged it! Nay! he is a poet! Let him then bring us a sign like the ones that were sent unto (the prophets) of old

bal qālū aḍghāthu aḥlāmin bali if'tarāhu bal huwa shāʿirun falyatinā biāyatin kamā ur'sila l-awalūn

21:6

مَاۤ ءَامَنَتۡ قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡیَةٍ أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهَاۤۖ أَفَهُمۡ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed; will these (now) believe

mā āmanat qablahum min qaryatin ahlaknāhā afahum yu'minūn

21:7

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا قَبۡلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالࣰا نُّوحِیۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡۖ فَسۡءَلُوۤا۟ أَهۡلَ ٱلذِّكۡرِ إِن كُنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We sent none before you, but men to whom We made revelation. So ask the people of �Thikr� (the Reminder) if you do not know

wamā arsalnā qablaka illā rijālan nūḥī ilayhim fasalū ahla l-dhik'ri in kuntum lā taʿlamūn

21:8

وَمَا جَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ جَسَدࣰا لَّا یَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ خَـٰلِدِینَ ۝٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We did not make them (such) bodies not eating the food, nor were they immortals

wamā jaʿalnāhum jasadan lā yakulūna l-ṭaʿāma wamā kānū khālidīn

21:9

ثُمَّ صَدَقۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡوَعۡدَ فَأَنجَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَمَن نَّشَاۤءُ وَأَهۡلَكۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then We fulfilled the promise unto them. So We delivered them and whomever We would, and We destroyed the extravagant ones

thumma ṣadaqnāhumu l-waʿda fa-anjaynāhum waman nashāu wa-ahlaknā l-mus'rifīn

21:10

لَقَدۡ أَنزَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكُمۡ كِتَـٰبࣰا فِیهِ ذِكۡرُكُمۡۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Reminder. Have you then no sense

laqad anzalnā ilaykum kitāban fīhi dhik'rukum afalā taʿqilūn

21:11

وَكَمۡ قَصَمۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةࣲ كَانَتۡ ظَالِمَةࣰ وَأَنشَأۡنَا بَعۡدَهَا قَوۡمًا ءَاخَرِینَ ۝١١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And how many a town We utterly destroyed (the people of) which were iniquitous, and We raised up after them another people

wakam qaṣamnā min qaryatin kānat ẓālimatan wa-anshanā baʿdahā qawman ākharīn

21:12

فَلَمَّاۤ أَحَسُّوا۟ بَأۡسَنَاۤ إِذَا هُم مِّنۡهَا یَرۡكُضُونَ ۝١٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So when they felt (the coming of) Our punishment, behold, they (tried to) flee from it

falammā aḥassū basanā idhā hum min'hā yarkuḍūn

21:13

لَا تَرۡكُضُوا۟ وَٱرۡجِعُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ مَاۤ أُتۡرِفۡتُمۡ فِیهِ وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُسۡءَلُونَ ۝١٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(But it was said to them) �Do not fly (now) and come back unto what you were made to lead easy lives in and unto your dwellings, haply you will be questioned

lā tarkuḍū wa-ir'jiʿū ilā mā ut'rif'tum fīhi wamasākinikum laʿallakum tus'alūn

21:14

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَاۤ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They said: �Oh woe to us! Verily we were unjust�

qālū yāwaylanā innā kunnā ẓālimīn

21:15

فَمَا زَالَت تِّلۡكَ دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ جَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ حَصِیدًا خَـٰمِدِینَ ۝١٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And this their crying ceased not till We made them as reaped corn, extinct

famā zālat til'ka daʿwāhum ḥattā jaʿalnāhum ḥaṣīdan khāmidīn

21:16

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِینَ ۝١٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them in play

wamā khalaqnā l-samāa wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā lāʿibīn

21:17

لَوۡ أَرَدۡنَاۤ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهۡوࣰا لَّٱتَّخَذۡنَـٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّاۤ إِن كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝١٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Had We intended that We should take amusement we would certainly have taken it from before Ourselves, if We would do (such a thing)

law aradnā an nattakhidha lahwan la-ittakhadhnāhu min ladunnā in kunnā fāʿilīn

21:18

بَلۡ نَقۡذِفُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلۡبَـٰطِلِ فَیَدۡمَغُهُۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقࣱۚ وَلَكُمُ ٱلۡوَیۡلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ ۝١٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Nay! But We hurl the truth against falsehood so that it breaks out its brain, and behold, falsehood vanishes away. And yours will be woe for that which you ascribe (unto Allah)

bal naqdhifu bil-ḥaqi ʿalā l-bāṭili fayadmaghuhu fa-idhā huwa zāhiqun walakumu l-waylu mimmā taṣifūn

21:19

وَلَهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَنۡ عِندَهُۥ لَا یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَلَا یَسۡتَحۡسِرُونَ ۝١٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And to Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth; and those who are with Him are not proud to worship Him, nor do they get weary

walahu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi waman ʿindahu lā yastakbirūna ʿan ʿibādatihi walā yastaḥsirūn

21:20

یُسَبِّحُونَ ٱلَّیۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ لَا یَفۡتُرُونَ ۝٢٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They glorify (Him) by night and day; they never intermit

yusabbiḥūna al-layla wal-nahāra lā yafturūn

21:21

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوۤا۟ ءَالِهَةࣰ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ هُمۡ یُنشِرُونَ ۝٢١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Or have they taken gods from the earth who can raise (the dead)

ami ittakhadhū ālihatan mina l-arḍi hum yunshirūn

21:22

لَوۡ كَانَ فِیهِمَاۤ ءَالِهَةٌ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ لَفَسَدَتَاۚ فَسُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝٢٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

If there were, in the heavens and the earth, (other) gods besides Allah, they would both certainly go to ruin. So glorified is Allah, the Lord of the �Arsh, from what they attribute (unto Him)

law kāna fīhimā ālihatun illā l-lahu lafasadatā fasub'ḥāna l-lahi rabbi l-ʿarshi ʿammā yaṣifūn

21:23

لَا یُسۡءَلُ عَمَّا یَفۡعَلُ وَهُمۡ یُسۡءَلُونَ ۝٢٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He (Allah) will not be questioned as to what He does, but they will be questioned (for their deeds)

lā yus'alu ʿammā yafʿalu wahum yus'alūn

21:24

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦۤ ءَالِهَةࣰۖ قُلۡ هَاتُوا۟ بُرۡهَـٰنَكُمۡۖ هَـٰذَا ذِكۡرُ مَن مَّعِیَ وَذِكۡرُ مَن قَبۡلِیۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ٱلۡحَقَّۖ فَهُم مُّعۡرِضُونَ ۝٢٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Or have they taken other gods besides Him? Say: �Bring your proof! This (Qur�?n) is the remembrance of those who are with me, and the remembrance of those before me. But most of them do not know the truth, so they are averse�

ami ittakhadhū min dūnihi ālihatan qul hātū bur'hānakum hādhā dhik'ru man maʿiya wadhik'ru man qablī bal aktharuhum lā yaʿlamūna l-ḥaqa fahum muʿ'riḍūn

21:25

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِیۤ إِلَیۡهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّاۤ أَنَا۠ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٢٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We sent no Messenger before you but We revealed unto him that �Verily there is no god but I; so worship Me (alone)�

wamā arsalnā min qablika min rasūlin illā nūḥī ilayhi annahu lā ilāha illā anā fa-uʿ'budūn

21:26

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ وَلَدࣰاۗ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥۚ بَلۡ عِبَادࣱ مُّكۡرَمُونَ ۝٢٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And they say: �The Beneficent (Allah) has taken to Him a son.� Glory be to Him! Nay, but (angels) are (His) honoured servants

waqālū ittakhadha l-raḥmānu waladan sub'ḥānahu bal ʿibādun muk'ramūn

21:27

لَا یَسۡبِقُونَهُۥ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَهُم بِأَمۡرِهِۦ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They do not precede Him in speech, and (only) according to His commandment do they act

lā yasbiqūnahu bil-qawli wahum bi-amrihi yaʿmalūn

21:28

یَعۡلَمُ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ وَلَا یَشۡفَعُونَ إِلَّا لِمَنِ ٱرۡتَضَىٰ وَهُم مِّنۡ خَشۡیَتِهِۦ مُشۡفِقُونَ ۝٢٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they (angels) do not intercede except for him with whom He is well-pleased and they tremble in awe of Him

yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wamā khalfahum walā yashfaʿūna illā limani ir'taḍā wahum min khashyatihi mush'fiqūn

21:29

۞ وَمَن یَقُلۡ مِنۡهُمۡ إِنِّیۤ إِلَـٰهࣱ مِّن دُونِهِۦ فَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِیهِ جَهَنَّمَۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٢٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And whoever of them (the angels) says: �Verily I am a god besides Him, such a one We recompense with Hell, even so do We recompense the unjust

waman yaqul min'hum innī ilāhun min dūnihi fadhālika najzīhi jahannama kadhālika najzī l-ẓālimīn

21:30

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ أَنَّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ كَانَتَا رَتۡقࣰا فَفَتَقۡنَـٰهُمَاۖ وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمَاۤءِ كُلَّ شَیۡءٍ حَیٍّۚ أَفَلَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٣٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were joined together before We clove them asunder, and We made from water every living thing? Will they not then believe

awalam yara alladhīna kafarū anna l-samāwāti wal-arḍa kānatā ratqan fafataqnāhumā wajaʿalnā mina l-māi kulla shayin ḥayyin afalā yu'minūn

21:31

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَوَ ٰسِیَ أَن تَمِیدَ بِهِمۡ وَجَعَلۡنَا فِیهَا فِجَاجࣰا سُبُلࣰا لَّعَلَّهُمۡ یَهۡتَدُونَ ۝٣١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We set in the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with them (people), and We set therein broad high ways that they may be guided

wajaʿalnā fī l-arḍi rawāsiya an tamīda bihim wajaʿalnā fīhā fijājan subulan laʿallahum yahtadūn

21:32

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ سَقۡفࣰا مَّحۡفُوظࣰاۖ وَهُمۡ عَنۡ ءَایَـٰتِهَا مُعۡرِضُونَ ۝٣٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We set up the heaven as a roof well-protected, and yet they turn away from its signs

wajaʿalnā l-samāa saqfan maḥfūẓan wahum ʿan āyātihā muʿ'riḍūn

21:33

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلَّیۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَۖ كُلࣱّ فِی فَلَكࣲ یَسۡبَحُونَ ۝٣٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And He it is Who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon. They float, each in an orbit

wahuwa alladhī khalaqa al-layla wal-nahāra wal-shamsa wal-qamara kullun fī falakin yasbaḥūn

21:34

وَمَا جَعَلۡنَا لِبَشَرࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ ٱلۡخُلۡدَۖ أَفَإِی۟ن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٣٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We appointed immortality for no man before you. Then if you die, can they be immortal

wamā jaʿalnā libasharin min qablika l-khul'da afa-in mitta fahumu l-khālidūn

21:35

كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ ذَاۤىِٕقَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِۗ وَنَبۡلُوكُم بِٱلشَّرِّ وَٱلۡخَیۡرِ فِتۡنَةࣰۖ وَإِلَیۡنَا تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٣٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Every soul shall taste of death; and We try you with evil and good for a testing, and unto Us you shall be returned

kullu nafsin dhāiqatu l-mawti wanablūkum bil-shari wal-khayri fit'natan wa-ilaynā tur'jaʿūn

21:36

وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِن یَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِی یَذۡكُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَهُم بِذِكۡرِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ هُمۡ كَـٰفِرُونَ ۝٣٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And when those who disbelieve see you, they take you not but for mockery; (saying each other): �Is this the one who makes mention of your gods?� And (while) they, at the mention of the Beneficent (Allah), are themselves disbelievers

wa-idhā raāka alladhīna kafarū in yattakhidhūnaka illā huzuwan ahādhā alladhī yadhkuru ālihatakum wahum bidhik'ri l-raḥmāni hum kāfirūn

21:37

خُلِقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ مِنۡ عَجَلࣲۚ سَأُو۟رِیكُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِی فَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ ۝٣٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(The nature of mortals is such that as if) man has been created of haste; soon (enough) I will show you My signs, so do not ask Me to hasten (them) on

khuliqa l-insānu min ʿajalin sa-urīkum āyātī falā tastaʿjilūn

21:38

وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٣٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And they (the disbelievers) say: When will this promise (be fulfilled) if you are truthful

wayaqūlūna matā hādhā l-waʿdu in kuntum ṣādiqīn

21:39

لَوۡ یَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ حِینَ لَا یَكُفُّونَ عَن وُجُوهِهِمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا عَن ظُهُورِهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یُنصَرُونَ ۝٣٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

If those who disbelieve but know the time when they will not be able to ward off the Fire from their faces and from their backs, nor shall they be helped, (they would not hasten about the Resurrection)

law yaʿlamu alladhīna kafarū ḥīna lā yakuffūna ʿan wujūhihimu l-nāra walā ʿan ẓuhūrihim walā hum yunṣarūn

21:40

بَلۡ تَأۡتِیهِم بَغۡتَةࣰ فَتَبۡهَتُهُمۡ فَلَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ رَدَّهَا وَلَا هُمۡ یُنظَرُونَ ۝٤٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Nay, but it (the Fire) will come to them all of a sudden and make them confounded, so they will neither be able to repel it, nor will they be respited

bal tatīhim baghtatan fatabhatuhum falā yastaṭīʿūna raddahā walā hum yunẓarūn

21:41

وَلَقَدِ ٱسۡتُهۡزِئَ بِرُسُلࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِینَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٤١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And indeed Messengers before you were (also) mocked, but that whereat they mocked encompassed those who scoffed at them

walaqadi us'tuh'zi-a birusulin min qablika faḥāqa bi-alladhīna sakhirū min'hum mā kānū bihi yastahziūn

21:42

قُلۡ مَن یَكۡلَؤُكُم بِٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ مِنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ عَن ذِكۡرِ رَبِّهِم مُّعۡرِضُونَ ۝٤٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Say: �Who guards you by night and by day from (the Wrath of) the Beneficent (Allah)?� But (yet) they turn away from the remembrance of their Lord

qul man yakla-ukum bi-al-layli wal-nahāri mina l-raḥmāni bal hum ʿan dhik'ri rabbihim muʿ'riḍūn

21:43

أَمۡ لَهُمۡ ءَالِهَةࣱ تَمۡنَعُهُم مِّن دُونِنَاۚ لَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ نَصۡرَ أَنفُسِهِمۡ وَلَا هُم مِّنَّا یُصۡحَبُونَ ۝٤٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Or have they gods that can protect them from (the wrath of) Us? They are not able to help themselves nor can they be defended from Us

am lahum ālihatun tamnaʿuhum min dūninā lā yastaṭīʿūna naṣra anfusihim walā hum minnā yuṣ'ḥabūn

21:44

بَلۡ مَتَّعۡنَا هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ وَءَابَاۤءَهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ طَالَ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡعُمُرُۗ أَفَلَا یَرَوۡنَ أَنَّا نَأۡتِی ٱلۡأَرۡضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنۡ أَطۡرَافِهَاۤۚ أَفَهُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبُونَ ۝٤٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Yet, We gave provision to these and their fathers until life grew long for them. Do they not see that We come to the land, curtailing it of its sides? Are they then the victors

bal mattaʿnā hāulāi waābāahum ḥattā ṭāla ʿalayhimu l-ʿumuru afalā yarawna annā natī l-arḍa nanquṣuhā min aṭrāfihā afahumu l-ghālibūn

21:45

قُلۡ إِنَّمَاۤ أُنذِرُكُم بِٱلۡوَحۡیِۚ وَلَا یَسۡمَعُ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلدُّعَاۤءَ إِذَا مَا یُنذَرُونَ ۝٤٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Say: �Verily I warn you only by the revelation. But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned

qul innamā undhirukum bil-waḥyi walā yasmaʿu l-ṣumu l-duʿāa idhā mā yundharūn

21:46

وَلَىِٕن مَّسَّتۡهُمۡ نَفۡحَةࣱ مِّنۡ عَذَابِ رَبِّكَ لَیَقُولُنَّ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَاۤ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٤٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And if a blast of the punishment of your Lord touches them, they will certainly say: �Woe unto us! Verily we were unjust�

wala-in massathum nafḥatun min ʿadhābi rabbika layaqūlunna yāwaylanā innā kunnā ẓālimīn

21:47

وَنَضَعُ ٱلۡمَوَ ٰزِینَ ٱلۡقِسۡطَ لِیَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظۡلَمُ نَفۡسࣱ شَیۡءࣰاۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِثۡقَالَ حَبَّةࣲ مِّنۡ خَرۡدَلٍ أَتَیۡنَا بِهَاۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَـٰسِبِینَ ۝٤٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We shall set up the balances of justice for the Resurrection Day, so that no soul shall be wronged anything; and even if there be (an action) of the weight of grain of mustard seed, We will bring it (into account), and sufficient are We (as) reckoners

wanaḍaʿu l-mawāzīna l-qis'ṭa liyawmi l-qiyāmati falā tuẓ'lamu nafsun shayan wa-in kāna mith'qāla ḥabbatin min khardalin ataynā bihā wakafā binā ḥāsibīn

21:48

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانَ وَضِیَاۤءࣰ وَذِكۡرࣰا لِّلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٤٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And indeed We gave Moses and Aaron the Furq?n (criterion) and a Light and a Reminder for the pious ones

walaqad ātaynā mūsā wahārūna l-fur'qāna waḍiyāan wadhik'ran lil'muttaqīn

21:49

ٱلَّذِینَ یَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَهُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ مُشۡفِقُونَ ۝٤٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Those who fear their Lord in secret and they dread the Hour (of doom)

alladhīna yakhshawna rabbahum bil-ghaybi wahum mina l-sāʿati mush'fiqūn

21:50

وَهَـٰذَا ذِكۡرࣱ مُّبَارَكٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُۚ أَفَأَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ ۝٥٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And this (Qur�?n) is a blessed Reminder which We have sent down (for you). Do you then deny it

wahādhā dhik'run mubārakun anzalnāhu afa-antum lahu munkirūn

21:51

۞ وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَاۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ رُشۡدَهُۥ مِن قَبۡلُ وَكُنَّا بِهِۦ عَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٥١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And indeed We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude, and We were aware of him (his eligibilities)

walaqad ātaynā ib'rāhīma rush'dahu min qablu wakunnā bihi ʿālimīn

21:52

إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذِهِ ٱلتَّمَاثِیلُ ٱلَّتِیۤ أَنتُمۡ لَهَا عَـٰكِفُونَ ۝٥٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

When he said to his father and his people: �What are these images (and lifeless statues) unto which you pay devotion�

idh qāla li-abīhi waqawmihi mā hādhihi l-tamāthīlu allatī antum lahā ʿākifūn

21:53

قَالُوا۟ وَجَدۡنَاۤ ءَابَاۤءَنَا لَهَا عَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٥٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They said: �We found our fathers worshipping them�

qālū wajadnā ābāanā lahā ʿābidīn

21:54

قَالَ لَقَدۡ كُنتُمۡ أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَاۤؤُكُمۡ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٥٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He said: �Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error�

qāla laqad kuntum antum waābāukum fī ḍalālin mubīni

21:55

قَالُوۤا۟ أَجِئۡتَنَا بِٱلۡحَقِّ أَمۡ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱللَّـٰعِبِینَ ۝٥٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They said: �Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers�

qālū aji'tanā bil-ḥaqi am anta mina l-lāʿibīn

21:56

قَالَ بَل رَّبُّكُمۡ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلَّذِی فَطَرَهُنَّ وَأَنَا۠ عَلَىٰ ذَ ٰلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِینَ ۝٥٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He said: �Nay! But your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth Who originated them, and I am unto this (fact) one of the witnesses�

qāla bal rabbukum rabbu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi alladhī faṭarahunna wa-anā ʿalā dhālikum mina l-shāhidīn

21:57

وَتَٱللَّهِ لَأَكِیدَنَّ أَصۡنَـٰمَكُم بَعۡدَ أَن تُوَلُّوا۟ مُدۡبِرِینَ ۝٥٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And, by Allah, I will certainly plan against your idols after you go away turning your backs�

watal-lahi la-akīdanna aṣnāmakum baʿda an tuwallū mud'birīn

21:58

فَجَعَلَهُمۡ جُذَ ٰذًا إِلَّا كَبِیرࣰا لَّهُمۡ لَعَلَّهُمۡ إِلَیۡهِ یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٥٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So he broke them into pieces, (all) except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it

fajaʿalahum judhādhan illā kabīran lahum laʿallahum ilayhi yarjiʿūn

21:59

قَالُوا۟ مَن فَعَلَ هَـٰذَا بِءَالِهَتِنَاۤ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٥٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They said: �Who has done this with our gods? Surely he is (one) of the unjust�

qālū man faʿala hādhā biālihatinā innahu lamina l-ẓālimīn

21:60

قَالُوا۟ سَمِعۡنَا فَتࣰى یَذۡكُرُهُمۡ یُقَالُ لَهُۥۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ ۝٦٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They said: �We heard a youth making mention of them, who is called Abraham�

qālū samiʿ'nā fatan yadhkuruhum yuqālu lahu ib'rāhīm

21:61

قَالُوا۟ فَأۡتُوا۟ بِهِۦ عَلَىٰۤ أَعۡیُنِ ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَشۡهَدُونَ ۝٦١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They said: �Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness�

qālū fatū bihi ʿalā aʿyuni l-nāsi laʿallahum yashhadūn

21:62

قَالُوۤا۟ ءَأَنتَ فَعَلۡتَ هَـٰذَا بِءَالِهَتِنَا یَـٰۤإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ ۝٦٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They said: �Are you the man that did this with our gods, O Abraham?

qālū a-anta faʿalta hādhā biālihatinā yāib'rāhīm

21:63

قَالَ بَلۡ فَعَلَهُۥ كَبِیرُهُمۡ هَـٰذَا فَسۡءَلُوهُمۡ إِن كَانُوا۟ یَنطِقُونَ ۝٦٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(Abraham) said: �Nay, it was done by this, the chief of them! Ask them if they can speak�

qāla bal faʿalahu kabīruhum hādhā fasalūhum in kānū yanṭiqūn

21:64

فَرَجَعُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡ فَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّكُمۡ أَنتُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝٦٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So they turned to themselves and said: �Verily, you yourselves are the unjust�

farajaʿū ilā anfusihim faqālū innakum antumu l-ẓālimūn

21:65

ثُمَّ نُكِسُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رُءُوسِهِمۡ لَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتَ مَا هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ یَنطِقُونَ ۝٦٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then they were made to hang down their heads, (saying:) �Very well indeed you know these (idols) do not speak�

thumma nukisū ʿalā ruūsihim laqad ʿalim'ta mā hāulāi yanṭiqūn

21:66

قَالَ أَفَتَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَنفَعُكُمۡ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یَضُرُّكُمۡ ۝٦٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(Abraham) said: �Do you then worship, besides Allah, that which profits you nothing, neither hurts you

qāla afataʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi mā lā yanfaʿukum shayan walā yaḍurruku

21:67

أُفࣲّ لَّكُمۡ وَلِمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Fie on you and on what you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense

uffin lakum walimā taʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi afalā taʿqilūn

21:68

قَالُوا۟ حَرِّقُوهُ وَٱنصُرُوۤا۟ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝٦٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They said: �If you would do aught, burn him, and help your gods�

qālū ḥarriqūhu wa-unṣurū ālihatakum in kuntum fāʿilīn

21:69

قُلۡنَا یَـٰنَارُ كُونِی بَرۡدࣰا وَسَلَـٰمًا عَلَىٰۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٦٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

We said: �O fire! Be you cold and safety for Abraham!

qul'nā yānāru kūnī bardan wasalāman ʿalā ib'rāhīm

21:70

وَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَیۡدࣰا فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡأَخۡسَرِینَ ۝٧٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And they intended a device against him, but We made them the worse losers

wa-arādū bihi kaydan fajaʿalnāhumu l-akhsarīn

21:71

وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَلُوطًا إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلَّتِی بَـٰرَكۡنَا فِیهَا لِلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And we delivered him, and Lot, unto the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples

wanajjaynāhu walūṭan ilā l-arḍi allatī bāraknā fīhā lil'ʿālamīn

21:72

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَ وَیَعۡقُوبَ نَافِلَةࣰۖ وَكُلࣰّا جَعَلۡنَا صَـٰلِحِینَ ۝٧٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob as a further gift, and We made them all righteous

wawahabnā lahu is'ḥāqa wayaʿqūba nāfilatan wakullan jaʿalnā ṣāliḥīn

21:73

وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَىِٕمَّةࣰ یَهۡدُونَ بِأَمۡرِنَا وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡ فِعۡلَ ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِ وَإِقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِیتَاۤءَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا عَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٧٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We made them leaders guiding (the people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and the establishing prayer, and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone)

wajaʿalnāhum a-immatan yahdūna bi-amrinā wa-awḥaynā ilayhim fiʿ'la l-khayrāti wa-iqāma l-ṣalati waītāa l-zakati wakānū lanā ʿābidīn

21:74

وَلُوطًا ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ حُكۡمࣰا وَعِلۡمࣰا وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةِ ٱلَّتِی كَانَت تَّعۡمَلُ ٱلۡخَبَـٰۤىِٕثَۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ قَوۡمَ سَوۡءࣲ فَـٰسِقِینَ ۝٧٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And Lot, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which were doing abominations. Verily they were evil people, perverse

walūṭan ātaynāhu ḥuk'man waʿil'man wanajjaynāhu mina l-qaryati allatī kānat taʿmalu l-khabāitha innahum kānū qawma sawin fāsiqīn

21:75

وَأَدۡخَلۡنَـٰهُ فِی رَحۡمَتِنَاۤۖ إِنَّهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٧٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We admitted him into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous

wa-adkhalnāhu fī raḥmatinā innahu mina l-ṣāliḥīn

21:76

وَنُوحًا إِذۡ نَادَىٰ مِن قَبۡلُ فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ فَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٧٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And (remember) Noah, when he called (his Lord) before, then We answered him, and delivered him and his family from the great calamity

wanūḥan idh nādā min qablu fa-is'tajabnā lahu fanajjaynāhu wa-ahlahu mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīm

21:77

وَنَصَرۡنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۤۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ قَوۡمَ سَوۡءࣲ فَأَغۡرَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٧٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We helped him against the people who rejected Our signs; verily they were an evil people, so We drowned them all together

wanaṣarnāhu mina l-qawmi alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā innahum kānū qawma sawin fa-aghraqnāhum ajmaʿīn

21:78

وَدَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَیۡمَـٰنَ إِذۡ یَحۡكُمَانِ فِی ٱلۡحَرۡثِ إِذۡ نَفَشَتۡ فِیهِ غَنَمُ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ وَكُنَّا لِحُكۡمِهِمۡ شَـٰهِدِینَ ۝٧٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And (remember) David and Solomon when they gave judgment concerning the field, when the sheep of the people pastured in it by night, and We were witnesses to their judgment

wadāwūda wasulaymāna idh yaḥkumāni fī l-ḥarthi idh nafashat fīhi ghanamu l-qawmi wakunnā liḥuk'mihim shāhidīn

21:79

فَفَهَّمۡنَـٰهَا سُلَیۡمَـٰنَۚ وَكُلًّا ءَاتَیۡنَا حُكۡمࣰا وَعِلۡمࣰاۚ وَسَخَّرۡنَا مَعَ دَاوُۥدَ ٱلۡجِبَالَ یُسَبِّحۡنَ وَٱلطَّیۡرَۚ وَكُنَّا فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝٧٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So We made Solomon to understand it, and unto each (of them) We gave wisdom and knowledge. And with David We subdued the mountains to give glory, and the birds, and We were the doers (thereof)

fafahhamnāhā sulaymāna wakullan ātaynā ḥuk'man waʿil'man wasakharnā maʿa dāwūda l-jibāla yusabbiḥ'na wal-ṭayra wakunnā fāʿilīn

21:80

وَعَلَّمۡنَـٰهُ صَنۡعَةَ لَبُوسࣲ لَّكُمۡ لِتُحۡصِنَكُم مِّنۢ بَأۡسِكُمۡۖ فَهَلۡ أَنتُمۡ شَـٰكِرُونَ ۝٨٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We taught him the art of making the coat of mail for you to protect you in your wars. Are you then thankful

waʿallamnāhu ṣanʿata labūsin lakum lituḥ'ṣinakum min basikum fahal antum shākirūn

21:81

وَلِسُلَیۡمَـٰنَ ٱلرِّیحَ عَاصِفَةࣰ تَجۡرِی بِأَمۡرِهِۦۤ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلَّتِی بَـٰرَكۡنَا فِیهَاۚ وَكُنَّا بِكُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٨١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And for Solomon We (subdued) the wind blowing violent, that ran at his command unto the land where We had blessed; and of everything We are aware

walisulaymāna l-rīḥa ʿāṣifatan tajrī bi-amrihi ilā l-arḍi allatī bāraknā fīhā wakunnā bikulli shayin ʿālimīn

21:82

وَمِنَ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینِ مَن یَغُوصُونَ لَهُۥ وَیَعۡمَلُونَ عَمَلࣰا دُونَ ذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَكُنَّا لَهُمۡ حَـٰفِظِینَ ۝٨٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And some of the Satans dived for him and did (also) other work besides that, and We were watching over them

wamina l-shayāṭīni man yaghūṣūna lahu wayaʿmalūna ʿamalan dūna dhālika wakunnā lahum ḥāfiẓīn

21:83

۞ وَأَیُّوبَ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥۤ أَنِّی مَسَّنِیَ ٱلضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرۡحَمُ ٱلرَّ ٰحِمِینَ ۝٨٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And (remember) Job when he called unto his Lord (saying:) �Verily distress has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful ones�

wa-ayyūba idh nādā rabbahu annī massaniya l-ḍuru wa-anta arḥamu l-rāḥimīn

21:84

فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفۡنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرࣲّۖ وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ أَهۡلَهُۥ وَمِثۡلَهُم مَّعَهُمۡ رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنۡ عِندِنَا وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِلۡعَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٨٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So We responded to him (his prayer) and We removed the distress that was upon him, and We restored his family to him, and the like of them with them; a mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers

fa-is'tajabnā lahu fakashafnā mā bihi min ḍurrin waātaynāhu ahlahu wamith'lahum maʿahum raḥmatan min ʿindinā wadhik'rā lil'ʿābidīn

21:85

وَإِسۡمَـٰعِیلَ وَإِدۡرِیسَ وَذَا ٱلۡكِفۡلِۖ كُلࣱّ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِینَ ۝٨٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And (remember) Ishmael and Idr?s, and Zul-kifl; all were of the patient

wa-is'māʿīla wa-id'rīsa wadhā l-kif'li kullun mina l-ṣābirīn

21:86

وَأَدۡخَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِی رَحۡمَتِنَاۤۖ إِنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٨٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We admitted them into Our Mercy; verily they were of the righteous

wa-adkhalnāhum fī raḥmatinā innahum mina l-ṣāliḥīn

21:87

وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَـٰضِبࣰا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقۡدِرَ عَلَیۡهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِی ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ أَن لَّاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّاۤ أَنتَ سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّی كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٨٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And (remember) Zan-N?n (Jonah) when he departed (his people) in anger and imagined that We would not straiten him; so he called out in the darkness: �There is no god but You (O my Lord!). Glory be to You! Verily I was of the unjust ones�

wadhā l-nūni idh dhahaba mughāḍiban faẓanna an lan naqdira ʿalayhi fanādā fī l-ẓulumāti an lā ilāha illā anta sub'ḥānaka innī kuntu mina l-ẓālimīn

21:88

فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلۡغَمِّۚ وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نُۨجِی ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So We responded to him (his prayer) and delivered him from the grief; and thus do We deliver the believers

fa-is'tajabnā lahu wanajjaynāhu mina l-ghami wakadhālika nunjī l-mu'minīn

21:89

وَزَكَرِیَّاۤ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرۡنِی فَرۡدࣰا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡوَ ٰرِثِینَ ۝٨٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And (remember) Zechariah, when he called unto his Lord: �O my Lord! Leave me not alone (without a child); and You are the best of inheritors�

wazakariyyā idh nādā rabbahu rabbi lā tadharnī fardan wa-anta khayru l-wārithīn

21:90

فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥ یَحۡیَىٰ وَأَصۡلَحۡنَا لَهُۥ زَوۡجَهُۥۤۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ یُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِی ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِ وَیَدۡعُونَنَا رَغَبࣰا وَرَهَبࣰاۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَـٰشِعِینَ ۝٩٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So We responded to him (his prayer) and bestowed upon him Yahy? (John), and We set his wife right (of her barrenness) for him; verily they used to vie one with the other, hastening to good deeds, and called upon Us in yearning and awe; and were humbled before Us

fa-is'tajabnā lahu wawahabnā lahu yaḥyā wa-aṣlaḥnā lahu zawjahu innahum kānū yusāriʿūna fī l-khayrāti wayadʿūnanā raghaban warahaban wakānū lanā khāshiʿīn

21:91

وَٱلَّتِیۤ أَحۡصَنَتۡ فَرۡجَهَا فَنَفَخۡنَا فِیهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهَا وَٱبۡنَهَاۤ ءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٩١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And (remember) her (Mary) who guarded her chastity so We breathed unto her from Our spirit and We appointed her and her son a sign for (all) people

wa-allatī aḥṣanat farjahā fanafakhnā fīhā min rūḥinā wajaʿalnāhā wa-ib'nahā āyatan lil'ʿālamīn

21:92

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦۤ أُمَّتُكُمۡ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٩٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily, this Ummah of yours is a single Ummah, and I am your Lord: so worship Me

inna hādhihi ummatukum ummatan wāḥidatan wa-anā rabbukum fa-uʿ'budūn

21:93

وَتَقَطَّعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَهُم بَیۡنَهُمۡۖ كُلٌّ إِلَیۡنَا رَ ٰجِعُونَ ۝٩٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And they split up their affair among them, (yet, finally,) will they all return unto Us

wataqaṭṭaʿū amrahum baynahum kullun ilaynā rājiʿūn

21:94

فَمَن یَعۡمَلۡ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنࣱ فَلَا كُفۡرَانَ لِسَعۡیِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ كَـٰتِبُونَ ۝٩٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Therefore, whoever does deeds of righteousness and he is a believer, there shall not be any rejection of his effort, and verily We will write (it) down for him

faman yaʿmal mina l-ṣāliḥāti wahuwa mu'minun falā kuf'rāna lisaʿyihi wa-innā lahu kātibūn

21:95

وَحَرَ ٰمٌ عَلَىٰ قَرۡیَةٍ أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهَاۤ أَنَّهُمۡ لَا یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٩٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And there is a ban upon (the people of) the towns which We destroyed: that they shall not return

waḥarāmun ʿalā qaryatin ahlaknāhā annahum lā yarjiʿūn

21:96

حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا فُتِحَتۡ یَأۡجُوجُ وَمَأۡجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن كُلِّ حَدَبࣲ یَنسِلُونَ ۝٩٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Until, when Gog and Magog are let through (the way), and they hasten forth from every elevation

ḥattā idhā futiḥat yajūju wamajūju wahum min kulli ḥadabin yansilūn

21:97

وَٱقۡتَرَبَ ٱلۡوَعۡدُ ٱلۡحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِیَ شَـٰخِصَةٌ أَبۡصَـٰرُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَا قَدۡ كُنَّا فِی غَفۡلَةࣲ مِّنۡ هَـٰذَا بَلۡ كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٩٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And the true promise has drawn nigh; then behold, staring wide (in terror), the eyes of those who disbelieve! (They say:) �Alas for us! We were heedless of this (Day); nay; we were unjust ones�

wa-iq'taraba l-waʿdu l-ḥaqu fa-idhā hiya shākhiṣatun abṣāru alladhīna kafarū yāwaylanā qad kunnā fī ghaflatin min hādhā bal kunnā ẓālimīn

21:98

إِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنتُمۡ لَهَا وَ ٰرِدُونَ ۝٩٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily you and what you worship besides Allah shall be the fuel of Hell; you shall go down to it

innakum wamā taʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi ḥaṣabu jahannama antum lahā wāridūn

21:99

لَوۡ كَانَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ ءَالِهَةࣰ مَّا وَرَدُوهَاۖ وَكُلࣱّ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٩٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

If these had been (real) gods, they would not have gone down thither, but all will abide therein

law kāna hāulāi ālihatan mā waradūhā wakullun fīhā khālidūn

21:100

لَهُمۡ فِیهَا زَفِیرࣱ وَهُمۡ فِیهَا لَا یَسۡمَعُونَ ۝١٠٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

There shall be sighing for them therein, and they therein shall not hear (any answer)

lahum fīhā zafīrun wahum fīhā lā yasmaʿūn

21:101

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ سَبَقَتۡ لَهُم مِّنَّا ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۤ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ عَنۡهَا مُبۡعَدُونَ ۝١٠١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily those for whom the good (promise) has already gone forth from Us, they will be kept far off from it (Hell)

inna alladhīna sabaqat lahum minnā l-ḥus'nā ulāika ʿanhā mub'ʿadūn

21:102

لَا یَسۡمَعُونَ حَسِیسَهَاۖ وَهُمۡ فِی مَا ٱشۡتَهَتۡ أَنفُسُهُمۡ خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝١٠٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They will hear the slightest sound of it, and they, in what their souls desire, shall abide

lā yasmaʿūna ḥasīsahā wahum fī mā ish'tahat anfusuhum khālidūn

21:103

لَا یَحۡزُنُهُمُ ٱلۡفَزَعُ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُكُمُ ٱلَّذِی كُنتُمۡ تُوعَدُونَ ۝١٠٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

The Great Terror (of that Day) shall not grieve them, and the angels shall receive them (saying): �This is your day, which you were promised�

lā yaḥzunuhumu l-fazaʿu l-akbaru watatalaqqāhumu l-malāikatu hādhā yawmukumu alladhī kuntum tūʿadūn

21:104

یَوۡمَ نَطۡوِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ كَطَیِّ ٱلسِّجِلِّ لِلۡكُتُبِۚ كَمَا بَدَأۡنَاۤ أَوَّلَ خَلۡقࣲ نُّعِیدُهُۥۚ وَعۡدًا عَلَیۡنَاۤۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝١٠٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

The Day when We will roll up the heaven as the rolling up of the scroll for writing; as We originated the first creation, (so) We shall get it return. (This is) a promise binding on Us; (and) surely We are to perform it

yawma naṭwī l-samāa kaṭayyi l-sijili lil'kutubi kamā badanā awwala khalqin nuʿīduhu waʿdan ʿalaynā innā kunnā fāʿilīn

21:105

وَلَقَدۡ كَتَبۡنَا فِی ٱلزَّبُورِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱلذِّكۡرِ أَنَّ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ یَرِثُهَا عِبَادِیَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ ۝١٠٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We have written in the Psalms (Zab?r), after the Reminder (the Torah), �My righteous servants shall inherit the earth�

walaqad katabnā fī l-zabūri min baʿdi l-dhik'ri anna l-arḍa yarithuhā ʿibādiya l-ṣāliḥūn

21:106

إِنَّ فِی هَـٰذَا لَبَلَـٰغࣰا لِّقَوۡمٍ عَـٰبِدِینَ ۝١٠٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily in this is a (great) message for a people (who) worship

inna fī hādhā labalāghan liqawmin ʿābidīn

21:107

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَـٰكَ إِلَّا رَحۡمَةࣰ لِّلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٠٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We sent you not save a Mercy for (all) the worlds

wamā arsalnāka illā raḥmatan lil'ʿālamīn

21:108

قُلۡ إِنَّمَا یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیَّ أَنَّمَاۤ إِلَـٰهُكُمۡ إِلَـٰهࣱ وَ ٰحِدࣱۖ فَهَلۡ أَنتُم مُّسۡلِمُونَ ۝١٠٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Say: �It is revealed to me that your God is One God; do you then surrender?

qul innamā yūḥā ilayya annamā ilāhukum ilāhun wāḥidun fahal antum mus'limūn

21:109

فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡا۟ فَقُلۡ ءَاذَنتُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ سَوَاۤءࣲۖ وَإِنۡ أَدۡرِیۤ أَقَرِیبٌ أَم بَعِیدࣱ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ ۝١٠٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then if they turn back, say: �I have warned you equally, and I know not whether nigh or far is that which you are promised�

fa-in tawallaw faqul ādhantukum ʿalā sawāin wa-in adrī aqarībun am baʿīdun mā tūʿadūn

21:110

إِنَّهُۥ یَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡجَهۡرَ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَیَعۡلَمُ مَا تَكۡتُمُونَ ۝١١٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily He knows what is spoken aloud and He knows what you conceal

innahu yaʿlamu l-jahra mina l-qawli wayaʿlamu mā taktumūn

21:111

وَإِنۡ أَدۡرِی لَعَلَّهُۥ فِتۡنَةࣱ لَّكُمۡ وَمَتَـٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١١١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And I know not haply this (respite) may be a trial for you, and an enjoyment for a while

wa-in adrī laʿallahu fit'natun lakum wamatāʿun ilā ḥīni

21:112

قَـٰلَ رَبِّ ٱحۡكُم بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَرَبُّنَا ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ٱلۡمُسۡتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ ۝١١٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He said: �O my Lord! Judge You with truth! And our Lord is the Beneficent, Whose help is sought against that which you ascribe (unto Him)�

qāla rabbi uḥ'kum bil-ḥaqi warabbunā l-raḥmānu l-mus'taʿānu ʿalā mā taṣifūn
