1 Judgment approaches

۞ ٱقۡتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمۡ وَهُمۡ فِی غَفۡلَةࣲ مُّعۡرِضُونَ ۝١

Their reckoning draws near to mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness.

iq'taraba lilnnāsi ḥisābuhum wahum fī ghaflatin muʿ'riḍūn

مَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن ذِكۡرࣲ مِّن رَّبِّهِم مُّحۡدَثٍ إِلَّا ٱسۡتَمَعُوهُ وَهُمۡ یَلۡعَبُونَ ۝٢

No new reminder comes to them from their Lord, but they listen while they play,

mā yatīhim min dhik'rin min rabbihim muḥ'dathin illā is'tamaʿūhu wahum yalʿabūn

لَاهِیَةࣰ قُلُوبُهُمۡۗ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجۡوَى ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ هَلۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡۖ أَفَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلسِّحۡرَ وَأَنتُمۡ تُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٣

Diverted their hearts. And those who do wrong discourse secretly, 'Is this except a mortal like you? Will you then approach the magic while you see?'

lāhiyatan qulūbuhum wa-asarrū l-najwā alladhīna ẓalamū hal hādhā illā basharun mith'lukum afatatūna l-siḥ'ra wa-antum tub'ṣirūn

قَالَ رَبِّی یَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٤

Say, 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.'

qāla rabbī yaʿlamu l-qawla fī l-samāi wal-arḍi wahuwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

بَلۡ قَالُوۤا۟ أَضۡغَـٰثُ أَحۡلَـٰمِۭ بَلِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُ بَلۡ هُوَ شَاعِرࣱ فَلۡیَأۡتِنَا بِءَایَةࣲ كَمَاۤ أُرۡسِلَ ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ ۝٥

Nay, they say, 'A confusion of dreams; Nay, he has invented it; Nay, he is a poet; So let him bring us a sign as those of old were sent.'

bal qālū aḍghāthu aḥlāmin bali if'tarāhu bal huwa shāʿirun falyatinā biāyatin kamā ur'sila l-awalūn

مَاۤ ءَامَنَتۡ قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡیَةٍ أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهَاۤۖ أَفَهُمۡ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٦

No city before them which We destroyed believed, will they then believe?

mā āmanat qablahum min qaryatin ahlaknāhā afahum yu'minūn

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا قَبۡلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالࣰا نُّوحِیۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡۖ فَسۡءَلُوۤا۟ أَهۡلَ ٱلذِّكۡرِ إِن كُنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٧

And We sent not before you, except men whom We inspired. So ask the people of the Reminder, if you do not know.

wamā arsalnā qablaka illā rijālan nūḥī ilayhim fasalū ahla l-dhik'ri in kuntum lā taʿlamūn

وَمَا جَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ جَسَدࣰا لَّا یَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ خَـٰلِدِینَ ۝٨

And We did not make them bodies not eating food, nor were they immortal.

wamā jaʿalnāhum jasadan lā yakulūna l-ṭaʿāma wamā kānū khālidīn

ثُمَّ صَدَقۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡوَعۡدَ فَأَنجَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَمَن نَّشَاۤءُ وَأَهۡلَكۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝٩

Then We fulfilled the promise to them, and We saved them and whom We willed; and We destroyed the extravagant.

thumma ṣadaqnāhumu l-waʿda fa-anjaynāhum waman nashāu wa-ahlaknā l-mus'rifīn

لَقَدۡ أَنزَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكُمۡ كِتَـٰبࣰا فِیهِ ذِكۡرُكُمۡۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٠

Certainly, We have sent down to you a Book in which is your Reminder; so will you not become intelligent?

laqad anzalnā ilaykum kitāban fīhi dhik'rukum afalā taʿqilūn

2 Truth triumphed always

وَكَمۡ قَصَمۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةࣲ كَانَتۡ ظَالِمَةࣰ وَأَنشَأۡنَا بَعۡدَهَا قَوۡمًا ءَاخَرِینَ ۝١١

And how many a city which had done wrong have We broken up, and raised up after it another people.

wakam qaṣamnā min qaryatin kānat ẓālimatan wa-anshanā baʿdahā qawman ākharīn

فَلَمَّاۤ أَحَسُّوا۟ بَأۡسَنَاۤ إِذَا هُم مِّنۡهَا یَرۡكُضُونَ ۝١٢

And when they perceived Our punishment, behold, they ran away from it.

falammā aḥassū basanā idhā hum min'hā yarkuḍūn

لَا تَرۡكُضُوا۟ وَٱرۡجِعُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ مَاۤ أُتۡرِفۡتُمۡ فِیهِ وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُسۡءَلُونَ ۝١٣

Run not away; and return to what life of affluence you enjoyed and your dwellings, perhaps you will be questioned.

lā tarkuḍū wa-ir'jiʿū ilā mā ut'rif'tum fīhi wamasākinikum laʿallakum tus'alūn

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَاۤ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٤

They said, 'O woe to us! Indeed, We were wrongdoers.'

qālū yāwaylanā innā kunnā ẓālimīn

فَمَا زَالَت تِّلۡكَ دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ جَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ حَصِیدًا خَـٰمِدِینَ ۝١٥

And that ceased not to be their cry until We made them mown down, extinguished.

famā zālat til'ka daʿwāhum ḥattā jaʿalnāhum ḥaṣīdan khāmidīn

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِینَ ۝١٦

And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them in play.

wamā khalaqnā l-samāa wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā lāʿibīn

لَوۡ أَرَدۡنَاۤ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهۡوࣰا لَّٱتَّخَذۡنَـٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّاۤ إِن كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝١٧

Had We wished to take a diversion, surely We would have taken it from Ourselves; if We were doers.

law aradnā an nattakhidha lahwan la-ittakhadhnāhu min ladunnā in kunnā fāʿilīn

بَلۡ نَقۡذِفُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلۡبَـٰطِلِ فَیَدۡمَغُهُۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقࣱۚ وَلَكُمُ ٱلۡوَیۡلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ ۝١٨

Nay, We hurl the truth against the falsehood and it breaks its head, and behold, it vanishes, and woe to you for what you describe.

bal naqdhifu bil-ḥaqi ʿalā l-bāṭili fayadmaghuhu fa-idhā huwa zāhiqun walakumu l-waylu mimmā taṣifūn

وَلَهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَنۡ عِندَهُۥ لَا یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَلَا یَسۡتَحۡسِرُونَ ۝١٩

And His is whoever is in the heavens and the earth and those who are with Him are not proud for His service, nor do they weary.

walahu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi waman ʿindahu lā yastakbirūna ʿan ʿibādatihi walā yastaḥsirūn

یُسَبِّحُونَ ٱلَّیۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ لَا یَفۡتُرُونَ ۝٢٠

They glorify night and day, they do not pause.

yusabbiḥūna al-layla wal-nahāra lā yafturūn

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوۤا۟ ءَالِهَةࣰ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ هُمۡ یُنشِرُونَ ۝٢١

Or have they taken gods from the earth who can quicken?

ami ittakhadhū ālihatan mina l-arḍi hum yunshirūn

لَوۡ كَانَ فِیهِمَاۤ ءَالِهَةٌ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ لَفَسَدَتَاۚ فَسُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝٢٢

If there were in both of them gods besides God, surely they would have been corrupted. So glory be to God, the Lord of the throne, above what they describe.

law kāna fīhimā ālihatun illā l-lahu lafasadatā fasub'ḥāna l-lahi rabbi l-ʿarshi ʿammā yaṣifūn

لَا یُسۡءَلُ عَمَّا یَفۡعَلُ وَهُمۡ یُسۡءَلُونَ ۝٢٣

He shall not be questioned concerning what He does, but they shall be questioned.

lā yus'alu ʿammā yafʿalu wahum yus'alūn

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦۤ ءَالِهَةࣰۖ قُلۡ هَاتُوا۟ بُرۡهَـٰنَكُمۡۖ هَـٰذَا ذِكۡرُ مَن مَّعِیَ وَذِكۡرُ مَن قَبۡلِیۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ٱلۡحَقَّۖ فَهُم مُّعۡرِضُونَ ۝٢٤

Or have they taken gods besides Him? Say, 'Bring your proof. This is the Reminder of those who are with me, and the Reminder of those who were before me.' Nay, most of them do not know the truth, so they turn away.

ami ittakhadhū min dūnihi ālihatan qul hātū bur'hānakum hādhā dhik'ru man maʿiya wadhik'ru man qablī bal aktharuhum lā yaʿlamūna l-ḥaqa fahum muʿ'riḍūn

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِیۤ إِلَیۡهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّاۤ أَنَا۠ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٢٥

We have not sent any messenger before you, but We inspired him that, 'There is no god but Me, so serve Me.'

wamā arsalnā min qablika min rasūlin illā nūḥī ilayhi annahu lā ilāha illā anā fa-uʿ'budūn

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ وَلَدࣰاۗ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥۚ بَلۡ عِبَادࣱ مُّكۡرَمُونَ ۝٢٦

And they say, 'The Merciful has taken a son.' Glory be to Him. Nay, honoured servants;

waqālū ittakhadha l-raḥmānu waladan sub'ḥānahu bal ʿibādun muk'ramūn

لَا یَسۡبِقُونَهُۥ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَهُم بِأَمۡرِهِۦ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٧

They do not precede Him in speech; and they act at His command.

lā yasbiqūnahu bil-qawli wahum bi-amrihi yaʿmalūn

یَعۡلَمُ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ وَلَا یَشۡفَعُونَ إِلَّا لِمَنِ ٱرۡتَضَىٰ وَهُم مِّنۡ خَشۡیَتِهِۦ مُشۡفِقُونَ ۝٢٨

He knows what is before them, and what is behind them, and they shall not intercede except for who He is pleased with; and they are apprehensive from fear of Him.

yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wamā khalfahum walā yashfaʿūna illā limani ir'taḍā wahum min khashyatihi mush'fiqūn

۞ وَمَن یَقُلۡ مِنۡهُمۡ إِنِّیۤ إِلَـٰهࣱ مِّن دُونِهِۦ فَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِیهِ جَهَنَّمَۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٢٩

And whoever of them says, 'Indeed, I am a god besides Him,' then that We will recompense with Hell. Thus We recompense the wrongdoers.

waman yaqul min'hum innī ilāhun min dūnihi fadhālika najzīhi jahannama kadhālika najzī l-ẓālimīn

3 Truth of Revelation

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ أَنَّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ كَانَتَا رَتۡقࣰا فَفَتَقۡنَـٰهُمَاۖ وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمَاۤءِ كُلَّ شَیۡءٍ حَیٍّۚ أَفَلَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٣٠

Do those who disbelieved not see that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them; and We made from water every living thing; will they not then believe?

awalam yara alladhīna kafarū anna l-samāwāti wal-arḍa kānatā ratqan fafataqnāhumā wajaʿalnā mina l-māi kulla shayin ḥayyin afalā yu'minūn

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَوَ ٰسِیَ أَن تَمِیدَ بِهِمۡ وَجَعَلۡنَا فِیهَا فِجَاجࣰا سُبُلࣰا لَّعَلَّهُمۡ یَهۡتَدُونَ ۝٣١

And We placed in the earth firm mountains lest it should move with them, and We made therein ravines as ways, perhaps they may be guided.

wajaʿalnā fī l-arḍi rawāsiya an tamīda bihim wajaʿalnā fīhā fijājan subulan laʿallahum yahtadūn

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ سَقۡفࣰا مَّحۡفُوظࣰاۖ وَهُمۡ عَنۡ ءَایَـٰتِهَا مُعۡرِضُونَ ۝٣٢

And We made the heaven a guarded roof; but they, from its signs turn away.

wajaʿalnā l-samāa saqfan maḥfūẓan wahum ʿan āyātihā muʿ'riḍūn

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلَّیۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَۖ كُلࣱّ فِی فَلَكࣲ یَسۡبَحُونَ ۝٣٣

And He is the one who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, all are in an orbit, gliding.

wahuwa alladhī khalaqa al-layla wal-nahāra wal-shamsa wal-qamara kullun fī falakin yasbaḥūn

وَمَا جَعَلۡنَا لِبَشَرࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ ٱلۡخُلۡدَۖ أَفَإِی۟ن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٣٤

And We made not immortality for mortals before you; so if you die, then will they be immortal?

wamā jaʿalnā libasharin min qablika l-khul'da afa-in mitta fahumu l-khālidūn

كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ ذَاۤىِٕقَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِۗ وَنَبۡلُوكُم بِٱلشَّرِّ وَٱلۡخَیۡرِ فِتۡنَةࣰۖ وَإِلَیۡنَا تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٣٥

Every soul will taste death. And We test you with the evil and the good, a trial; and unto Us you will be returned.

kullu nafsin dhāiqatu l-mawti wanablūkum bil-shari wal-khayri fit'natan wa-ilaynā tur'jaʿūn

وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِن یَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِی یَذۡكُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَهُم بِذِكۡرِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ هُمۡ كَـٰفِرُونَ ۝٣٦

And when those who disbelieve see you, they take you not except in mockery, 'Is this he who mentions your gods?' And they at the mention of the Merciful are disbelievers.

wa-idhā raāka alladhīna kafarū in yattakhidhūnaka illā huzuwan ahādhā alladhī yadhkuru ālihatakum wahum bidhik'ri l-raḥmāni hum kāfirūn

خُلِقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ مِنۡ عَجَلࣲۚ سَأُو۟رِیكُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِی فَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ ۝٣٧

Man is created of haste. I will show you My signs; so do not ask Me to hasten.

khuliqa l-insānu min ʿajalin sa-urīkum āyātī falā tastaʿjilūn

وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٣٨

And they say, 'When is this threat, if you are truthful?'

wayaqūlūna matā hādhā l-waʿdu in kuntum ṣādiqīn

لَوۡ یَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ حِینَ لَا یَكُفُّونَ عَن وُجُوهِهِمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا عَن ظُهُورِهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یُنصَرُونَ ۝٣٩

If those who disbelieved knew when the fire shall not be warded off from their faces nor from their backs, and they shall not be helped.

law yaʿlamu alladhīna kafarū ḥīna lā yakuffūna ʿan wujūhihimu l-nāra walā ʿan ẓuhūrihim walā hum yunṣarūn

بَلۡ تَأۡتِیهِم بَغۡتَةࣰ فَتَبۡهَتُهُمۡ فَلَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ رَدَّهَا وَلَا هُمۡ یُنظَرُونَ ۝٤٠

Nay, it shall come on them suddenly, and shall dumbfound them, and they shall not be able to repel it, nor shall they be respited.

bal tatīhim baghtatan fatabhatuhum falā yastaṭīʿūna raddahā walā hum yunẓarūn

وَلَقَدِ ٱسۡتُهۡزِئَ بِرُسُلࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِینَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٤١

And surely, certainly messengers before you were mocked, then what they used to mock at surrounded those who scoffed among them.

walaqadi us'tuh'zi-a birusulin min qablika faḥāqa bi-alladhīna sakhirū min'hum mā kānū bihi yastahziūn

4 Allah deals Mercifully

قُلۡ مَن یَكۡلَؤُكُم بِٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ مِنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ عَن ذِكۡرِ رَبِّهِم مُّعۡرِضُونَ ۝٤٢

Say, 'Who shall guard you by night and day from the Merciful?' Nay, they from the mention of their Lord turn aside.

qul man yakla-ukum bi-al-layli wal-nahāri mina l-raḥmāni bal hum ʿan dhik'ri rabbihim muʿ'riḍūn

أَمۡ لَهُمۡ ءَالِهَةࣱ تَمۡنَعُهُم مِّن دُونِنَاۚ لَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ نَصۡرَ أَنفُسِهِمۡ وَلَا هُم مِّنَّا یُصۡحَبُونَ ۝٤٣

Or have they gods to defend them besides Us? They cannot help themselves, and they cannot be protected from Us.

am lahum ālihatun tamnaʿuhum min dūninā lā yastaṭīʿūna naṣra anfusihim walā hum minnā yuṣ'ḥabūn

بَلۡ مَتَّعۡنَا هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ وَءَابَاۤءَهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ طَالَ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡعُمُرُۗ أَفَلَا یَرَوۡنَ أَنَّا نَأۡتِی ٱلۡأَرۡضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنۡ أَطۡرَافِهَاۤۚ أَفَهُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبُونَ ۝٤٤

Nay, We have granted enjoyment to these and their fathers until life was prolonged upon them. Do they not see that We come to the land, reducing it of its borders? Shall they then prevail?

bal mattaʿnā hāulāi waābāahum ḥattā ṭāla ʿalayhimu l-ʿumuru afalā yarawna annā natī l-arḍa nanquṣuhā min aṭrāfihā afahumu l-ghālibūn

قُلۡ إِنَّمَاۤ أُنذِرُكُم بِٱلۡوَحۡیِۚ وَلَا یَسۡمَعُ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلدُّعَاۤءَ إِذَا مَا یُنذَرُونَ ۝٤٥

Say, 'I only warn you by the inspiration;' But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.

qul innamā undhirukum bil-waḥyi walā yasmaʿu l-ṣumu l-duʿāa idhā mā yundharūn

وَلَىِٕن مَّسَّتۡهُمۡ نَفۡحَةࣱ مِّنۡ عَذَابِ رَبِّكَ لَیَقُولُنَّ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَاۤ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٤٦

And if a breath of the punishment of your Lord touches them, surely they will definitely say, 'O woe to us! Indeed, we were wrongdoers.'

wala-in massathum nafḥatun min ʿadhābi rabbika layaqūlunna yāwaylanā innā kunnā ẓālimīn

وَنَضَعُ ٱلۡمَوَ ٰزِینَ ٱلۡقِسۡطَ لِیَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظۡلَمُ نَفۡسࣱ شَیۡءࣰاۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِثۡقَالَ حَبَّةࣲ مِّنۡ خَرۡدَلٍ أَتَیۡنَا بِهَاۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَـٰسِبِینَ ۝٤٧

We will place just balances for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul shall be wronged anything, and if there is the weight of a grain of mustard seed, We will bring it; and We suffice for reckoners.

wanaḍaʿu l-mawāzīna l-qis'ṭa liyawmi l-qiyāmati falā tuẓ'lamu nafsun shayan wa-in kāna mith'qāla ḥabbatin min khardalin ataynā bihā wakafā binā ḥāsibīn

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانَ وَضِیَاۤءࣰ وَذِكۡرࣰا لِّلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٤٨

And surely, certainly We gave Moses and Aaron the criterion, and a light and a reminder for those who fear;

walaqad ātaynā mūsā wahārūna l-fur'qāna waḍiyāan wadhik'ran lil'muttaqīn

ٱلَّذِینَ یَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَهُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ مُشۡفِقُونَ ۝٤٩

Those who fear their Lord in the unseen; and they are afraid of the Hour.

alladhīna yakhshawna rabbahum bil-ghaybi wahum mina l-sāʿati mush'fiqūn

وَهَـٰذَا ذِكۡرࣱ مُّبَارَكٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُۚ أَفَأَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ ۝٥٠

And this is a blessed reminder which We have sent down, will you then reject it?

wahādhā dhik'run mubārakun anzalnāhu afa-antum lahu munkirūn

5 Abraham — Allah always delivers Prophets

۞ وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَاۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ رُشۡدَهُۥ مِن قَبۡلُ وَكُنَّا بِهِۦ عَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٥١

And surely, certainly We gave Abraham his rectitude before, and about him We knew.

walaqad ātaynā ib'rāhīma rush'dahu min qablu wakunnā bihi ʿālimīn

إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذِهِ ٱلتَّمَاثِیلُ ٱلَّتِیۤ أَنتُمۡ لَهَا عَـٰكِفُونَ ۝٥٢

When he said to his father and his people, 'What are these images to which you pay devotion?'

idh qāla li-abīhi waqawmihi mā hādhihi l-tamāthīlu allatī antum lahā ʿākifūn

قَالُوا۟ وَجَدۡنَاۤ ءَابَاۤءَنَا لَهَا عَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٥٣

They said, 'We found our forefathers for them servants.'

qālū wajadnā ābāanā lahā ʿābidīn

قَالَ لَقَدۡ كُنتُمۡ أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَاۤؤُكُمۡ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٥٤

He said, 'Surely, certainly you and your forefathers have been in clear error.'

qāla laqad kuntum antum waābāukum fī ḍalālin mubīni

قَالُوۤا۟ أَجِئۡتَنَا بِٱلۡحَقِّ أَمۡ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱللَّـٰعِبِینَ ۝٥٥

They said, 'Have you come to us with the truth or are you of those who play?'

qālū aji'tanā bil-ḥaqi am anta mina l-lāʿibīn

قَالَ بَل رَّبُّكُمۡ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلَّذِی فَطَرَهُنَّ وَأَنَا۠ عَلَىٰ ذَ ٰلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِینَ ۝٥٦

He said, 'Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them; and I am of those who testify to that;

qāla bal rabbukum rabbu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi alladhī faṭarahunna wa-anā ʿalā dhālikum mina l-shāhidīn

وَتَٱللَّهِ لَأَكِیدَنَّ أَصۡنَـٰمَكُم بَعۡدَ أَن تُوَلُّوا۟ مُدۡبِرِینَ ۝٥٧

And by God, surely I will plot against your idols after that you turn back, retreating.'

watal-lahi la-akīdanna aṣnāmakum baʿda an tuwallū mud'birīn

فَجَعَلَهُمۡ جُذَ ٰذًا إِلَّا كَبِیرࣰا لَّهُمۡ لَعَلَّهُمۡ إِلَیۡهِ یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٥٨

So he made them fragments, except a large one they had; that perhaps they might return to it.

fajaʿalahum judhādhan illā kabīran lahum laʿallahum ilayhi yarjiʿūn

قَالُوا۟ مَن فَعَلَ هَـٰذَا بِءَالِهَتِنَاۤ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٥٩

They said, 'Who has done this with our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers.'

qālū man faʿala hādhā biālihatinā innahu lamina l-ẓālimīn

قَالُوا۟ سَمِعۡنَا فَتࣰى یَذۡكُرُهُمۡ یُقَالُ لَهُۥۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ ۝٦٠

They said, 'We heard a youth mention them, it is said he is Abraham.'

qālū samiʿ'nā fatan yadhkuruhum yuqālu lahu ib'rāhīm

قَالُوا۟ فَأۡتُوا۟ بِهِۦ عَلَىٰۤ أَعۡیُنِ ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَشۡهَدُونَ ۝٦١

They said, 'Then bring him before the eyes of the people; perhaps they will bear witness.'

qālū fatū bihi ʿalā aʿyuni l-nāsi laʿallahum yashhadūn

قَالُوۤا۟ ءَأَنتَ فَعَلۡتَ هَـٰذَا بِءَالِهَتِنَا یَـٰۤإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ ۝٦٢

They said, 'Have you done this with our gods, O Abraham?'

qālū a-anta faʿalta hādhā biālihatinā yāib'rāhīm

قَالَ بَلۡ فَعَلَهُۥ كَبِیرُهُمۡ هَـٰذَا فَسۡءَلُوهُمۡ إِن كَانُوا۟ یَنطِقُونَ ۝٦٣

He said, 'Nay, this, the largest of them, did it; but ask them if they can speak.'

qāla bal faʿalahu kabīruhum hādhā fasalūhum in kānū yanṭiqūn

فَرَجَعُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡ فَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّكُمۡ أَنتُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝٦٤

So they returned to themselves and said, 'Indeed, you are the wrongdoers.'

farajaʿū ilā anfusihim faqālū innakum antumu l-ẓālimūn

ثُمَّ نُكِسُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رُءُوسِهِمۡ لَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتَ مَا هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ یَنطِقُونَ ۝٦٥

Then they were turned upside down on their heads, 'Indeed, you know these cannot speak.'

thumma nukisū ʿalā ruūsihim laqad ʿalim'ta mā hāulāi yanṭiqūn

قَالَ أَفَتَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَنفَعُكُمۡ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یَضُرُّكُمۡ ۝٦٦

He said, 'Will you then serve besides God what cannot profit you anything nor harm you?

qāla afataʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi mā lā yanfaʿukum shayan walā yaḍurruku

أُفࣲّ لَّكُمۡ وَلِمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٧

Uff to you, and to what you serve besides God! So will you not become intelligent?'

uffin lakum walimā taʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi afalā taʿqilūn

قَالُوا۟ حَرِّقُوهُ وَٱنصُرُوۤا۟ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝٦٨

They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you are doers.'

qālū ḥarriqūhu wa-unṣurū ālihatakum in kuntum fāʿilīn

قُلۡنَا یَـٰنَارُ كُونِی بَرۡدࣰا وَسَلَـٰمًا عَلَىٰۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٦٩

We said, 'O fire! Be coolness and safety for Abraham.'

qul'nā yānāru kūnī bardan wasalāman ʿalā ib'rāhīm

وَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَیۡدࣰا فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡأَخۡسَرِینَ ۝٧٠

And they desired to plot against him, but We made them the greatest losers.

wa-arādū bihi kaydan fajaʿalnāhumu l-akhsarīn

وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَلُوطًا إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلَّتِی بَـٰرَكۡنَا فِیهَا لِلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧١

And We saved him and Lot to the land which We have blessed for the worlds.

wanajjaynāhu walūṭan ilā l-arḍi allatī bāraknā fīhā lil'ʿālamīn

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَ وَیَعۡقُوبَ نَافِلَةࣰۖ وَكُلࣰّا جَعَلۡنَا صَـٰلِحِینَ ۝٧٢

And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and each We made righteous;

wawahabnā lahu is'ḥāqa wayaʿqūba nāfilatan wakullan jaʿalnā ṣāliḥīn

وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَىِٕمَّةࣰ یَهۡدُونَ بِأَمۡرِنَا وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡ فِعۡلَ ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِ وَإِقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِیتَاۤءَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا عَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٧٣

And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired them to do good works, and to be steadfast in the prayer, and to give the alms; and they were for Us servants.

wajaʿalnāhum a-immatan yahdūna bi-amrinā wa-awḥaynā ilayhim fiʿ'la l-khayrāti wa-iqāma l-ṣalati waītāa l-zakati wakānū lanā ʿābidīn

وَلُوطًا ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ حُكۡمࣰا وَعِلۡمࣰا وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةِ ٱلَّتِی كَانَت تَّعۡمَلُ ٱلۡخَبَـٰۤىِٕثَۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ قَوۡمَ سَوۡءࣲ فَـٰسِقِینَ ۝٧٤

And Lot, We gave him judgment and knowledge, and We saved him from the city which was doing bad deeds; indeed, they were evil, disobedient people.

walūṭan ātaynāhu ḥuk'man waʿil'man wanajjaynāhu mina l-qaryati allatī kānat taʿmalu l-khabāitha innahum kānū qawma sawin fāsiqīn

وَأَدۡخَلۡنَـٰهُ فِی رَحۡمَتِنَاۤۖ إِنَّهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٧٥

And We made him enter into Our mercy; indeed, he was of the righteous.

wa-adkhalnāhu fī raḥmatinā innahu mina l-ṣāliḥīn

6 Righteous will inherit land

وَنُوحًا إِذۡ نَادَىٰ مِن قَبۡلُ فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ فَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٧٦

And Noah, when he called before, and We answered him and saved him and his people from the great trouble.

wanūḥan idh nādā min qablu fa-is'tajabnā lahu fanajjaynāhu wa-ahlahu mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīm

وَنَصَرۡنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۤۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ قَوۡمَ سَوۡءࣲ فَأَغۡرَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٧٧

And We helped him from the people who said Our signs were lies; indeed, they were evil people, so We drowned them all together.

wanaṣarnāhu mina l-qawmi alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā innahum kānū qawma sawin fa-aghraqnāhum ajmaʿīn

وَدَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَیۡمَـٰنَ إِذۡ یَحۡكُمَانِ فِی ٱلۡحَرۡثِ إِذۡ نَفَشَتۡ فِیهِ غَنَمُ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ وَكُنَّا لِحُكۡمِهِمۡ شَـٰهِدِینَ ۝٧٨

And David and Solomon, when they gave judgment concerning the field, when the people's sheep strayed therein; and We were witnesses to their judgment;

wadāwūda wasulaymāna idh yaḥkumāni fī l-ḥarthi idh nafashat fīhi ghanamu l-qawmi wakunnā liḥuk'mihim shāhidīn

فَفَهَّمۡنَـٰهَا سُلَیۡمَـٰنَۚ وَكُلًّا ءَاتَیۡنَا حُكۡمࣰا وَعِلۡمࣰاۚ وَسَخَّرۡنَا مَعَ دَاوُۥدَ ٱلۡجِبَالَ یُسَبِّحۡنَ وَٱلطَّیۡرَۚ وَكُنَّا فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝٧٩

And We made Solomon to understand it, and to each We gave judgment and knowledge. And We subjected with David the mountains and the birds; they glorify. And We were doers.

fafahhamnāhā sulaymāna wakullan ātaynā ḥuk'man waʿil'man wasakharnā maʿa dāwūda l-jibāla yusabbiḥ'na wal-ṭayra wakunnā fāʿilīn

وَعَلَّمۡنَـٰهُ صَنۡعَةَ لَبُوسࣲ لَّكُمۡ لِتُحۡصِنَكُم مِّنۢ بَأۡسِكُمۡۖ فَهَلۡ أَنتُمۡ شَـٰكِرُونَ ۝٨٠

And We taught him the making of coats of mail for you, to protect you from your valour; are you then grateful?

waʿallamnāhu ṣanʿata labūsin lakum lituḥ'ṣinakum min basikum fahal antum shākirūn

وَلِسُلَیۡمَـٰنَ ٱلرِّیحَ عَاصِفَةࣰ تَجۡرِی بِأَمۡرِهِۦۤ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلَّتِی بَـٰرَكۡنَا فِیهَاۚ وَكُنَّا بِكُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٨١

And to Solomon the wind blowing violently, flowing by his command to the land in which We blessed. And We know all things.

walisulaymāna l-rīḥa ʿāṣifatan tajrī bi-amrihi ilā l-arḍi allatī bāraknā fīhā wakunnā bikulli shayin ʿālimīn

وَمِنَ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینِ مَن یَغُوصُونَ لَهُۥ وَیَعۡمَلُونَ عَمَلࣰا دُونَ ذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَكُنَّا لَهُمۡ حَـٰفِظِینَ ۝٨٢

And of the devils were those who would dive for him and would do work other than that; and We were guardians of them.

wamina l-shayāṭīni man yaghūṣūna lahu wayaʿmalūna ʿamalan dūna dhālika wakunnā lahum ḥāfiẓīn

۞ وَأَیُّوبَ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥۤ أَنِّی مَسَّنِیَ ٱلضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرۡحَمُ ٱلرَّ ٰحِمِینَ ۝٨٣

And Job, when he cried to his Lord, 'Indeed, harm has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful.'

wa-ayyūba idh nādā rabbahu annī massaniya l-ḍuru wa-anta arḥamu l-rāḥimīn

فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفۡنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرࣲّۖ وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ أَهۡلَهُۥ وَمِثۡلَهُم مَّعَهُمۡ رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنۡ عِندِنَا وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِلۡعَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٨٤

And We answered him, and removed what was on him of harm; and We gave him his family, and the like of them with them, mercy from Us, and a reminder to the servants.

fa-is'tajabnā lahu fakashafnā mā bihi min ḍurrin waātaynāhu ahlahu wamith'lahum maʿahum raḥmatan min ʿindinā wadhik'rā lil'ʿābidīn

وَإِسۡمَـٰعِیلَ وَإِدۡرِیسَ وَذَا ٱلۡكِفۡلِۖ كُلࣱّ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِینَ ۝٨٥

And Ishmael, and Idris, and Dhu 'l Kifl, all were of the patient.

wa-is'māʿīla wa-id'rīsa wadhā l-kif'li kullun mina l-ṣābirīn

وَأَدۡخَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِی رَحۡمَتِنَاۤۖ إِنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٨٦

And We made them enter into Our mercy; indeed, they were of the righteous.

wa-adkhalnāhum fī raḥmatinā innahum mina l-ṣāliḥīn

وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَـٰضِبࣰا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقۡدِرَ عَلَیۡهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِی ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ أَن لَّاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّاۤ أَنتَ سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّی كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٨٧

And Dhu 'l Nun, when he went in anger and thought that We had no power over him; and He cried out in the darkness, 'There is no god except You, Glory be to You. Indeed, I was of the wrongdoers.'

wadhā l-nūni idh dhahaba mughāḍiban faẓanna an lan naqdira ʿalayhi fanādā fī l-ẓulumāti an lā ilāha illā anta sub'ḥānaka innī kuntu mina l-ẓālimīn

فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلۡغَمِّۚ وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نُۨجِی ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨٨

So We answered him and saved him from the grief. And thus We save the believers.

fa-is'tajabnā lahu wanajjaynāhu mina l-ghami wakadhālika nunjī l-mu'minīn

وَزَكَرِیَّاۤ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرۡنِی فَرۡدࣰا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡوَ ٰرِثِینَ ۝٨٩

And Zachariah, when he called on his Lord, 'My Lord! Do not leave me alone; and You are the best of heirs.'

wazakariyyā idh nādā rabbahu rabbi lā tadharnī fardan wa-anta khayru l-wārithīn

فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥ یَحۡیَىٰ وَأَصۡلَحۡنَا لَهُۥ زَوۡجَهُۥۤۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ یُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِی ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِ وَیَدۡعُونَنَا رَغَبࣰا وَرَهَبࣰاۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَـٰشِعِینَ ۝٩٠

So We answered him, and bestowed upon him John; and We made his wife right for him; indeed, they used to hasten in good works, and they called on Us with longing and fear, and were humble to Us.

fa-is'tajabnā lahu wawahabnā lahu yaḥyā wa-aṣlaḥnā lahu zawjahu innahum kānū yusāriʿūna fī l-khayrāti wayadʿūnanā raghaban warahaban wakānū lanā khāshiʿīn

وَٱلَّتِیۤ أَحۡصَنَتۡ فَرۡجَهَا فَنَفَخۡنَا فِیهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهَا وَٱبۡنَهَاۤ ءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٩١

And the one who guarded her private parts, so We blew into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.

wa-allatī aḥṣanat farjahā fanafakhnā fīhā min rūḥinā wajaʿalnāhā wa-ib'nahā āyatan lil'ʿālamīn

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦۤ أُمَّتُكُمۡ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٩٢

Indeed, this your nation is one nation; and I am your Lord, So serve Me.

inna hādhihi ummatukum ummatan wāḥidatan wa-anā rabbukum fa-uʿ'budūn

وَتَقَطَّعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَهُم بَیۡنَهُمۡۖ كُلٌّ إِلَیۡنَا رَ ٰجِعُونَ ۝٩٣

But they cut up their affair between them; all shall return to Us;

wataqaṭṭaʿū amrahum baynahum kullun ilaynā rājiʿūn

7 Allah always delivers Prophets

فَمَن یَعۡمَلۡ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنࣱ فَلَا كُفۡرَانَ لِسَعۡیِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ كَـٰتِبُونَ ۝٩٤

And he who does good works, and he is a believer, there is no denial of his effort, and indeed, We are scribes for it.

faman yaʿmal mina l-ṣāliḥāti wahuwa mu'minun falā kuf'rāna lisaʿyihi wa-innā lahu kātibūn

وَحَرَ ٰمٌ عَلَىٰ قَرۡیَةٍ أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهَاۤ أَنَّهُمۡ لَا یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٩٥

And there is a ban upon a city which We have destroyed that they shall not return,

waḥarāmun ʿalā qaryatin ahlaknāhā annahum lā yarjiʿūn

حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا فُتِحَتۡ یَأۡجُوجُ وَمَأۡجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن كُلِّ حَدَبࣲ یَنسِلُونَ ۝٩٦

Until when Yajuj and Majuj are let out, and they from every mound descend.

ḥattā idhā futiḥat yajūju wamajūju wahum min kulli ḥadabin yansilūn

وَٱقۡتَرَبَ ٱلۡوَعۡدُ ٱلۡحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِیَ شَـٰخِصَةٌ أَبۡصَـٰرُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَا قَدۡ كُنَّا فِی غَفۡلَةࣲ مِّنۡ هَـٰذَا بَلۡ كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٩٧

And the true promise has drawn near, and behold, the eyes of those who disbelieve starring. 'O woe to us! Verily, We were in heedlessness of this. Nay, we were wrongdoers.'

wa-iq'taraba l-waʿdu l-ḥaqu fa-idhā hiya shākhiṣatun abṣāru alladhīna kafarū yāwaylanā qad kunnā fī ghaflatin min hādhā bal kunnā ẓālimīn

إِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنتُمۡ لَهَا وَ ٰرِدُونَ ۝٩٨

'Indeed, you and what you serve besides God, shall be pebbles of Hell, you shall come to it.'

innakum wamā taʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi ḥaṣabu jahannama antum lahā wāridūn

لَوۡ كَانَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ ءَالِهَةࣰ مَّا وَرَدُوهَاۖ وَكُلࣱّ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٩٩

If these had been gods they would not have come to it, and all shall dwell forever therein;

law kāna hāulāi ālihatan mā waradūhā wakullun fīhā khālidūn

لَهُمۡ فِیهَا زَفِیرࣱ وَهُمۡ فِیهَا لَا یَسۡمَعُونَ ۝١٠٠

For them therein is groaning, and they therein shall not hear.

lahum fīhā zafīrun wahum fīhā lā yasmaʿūn

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ سَبَقَتۡ لَهُم مِّنَّا ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۤ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ عَنۡهَا مُبۡعَدُونَ ۝١٠١

Indeed, those for whom the good has gone forth from Us, those shall be kept far away from it;

inna alladhīna sabaqat lahum minnā l-ḥus'nā ulāika ʿanhā mub'ʿadūn

لَا یَسۡمَعُونَ حَسِیسَهَاۖ وَهُمۡ فِی مَا ٱشۡتَهَتۡ أَنفُسُهُمۡ خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝١٠٢

They shall not hear the slightest sound of it, and they in what their souls desire shall dwell forever.

lā yasmaʿūna ḥasīsahā wahum fī mā ish'tahat anfusuhum khālidūn

لَا یَحۡزُنُهُمُ ٱلۡفَزَعُ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُكُمُ ٱلَّذِی كُنتُمۡ تُوعَدُونَ ۝١٠٣

The greatest terror shall not grieve them; and the angels shall meet them, 'This is your day which you were promised.'

lā yaḥzunuhumu l-fazaʿu l-akbaru watatalaqqāhumu l-malāikatu hādhā yawmukumu alladhī kuntum tūʿadūn

یَوۡمَ نَطۡوِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ كَطَیِّ ٱلسِّجِلِّ لِلۡكُتُبِۚ كَمَا بَدَأۡنَاۤ أَوَّلَ خَلۡقࣲ نُّعِیدُهُۥۚ وَعۡدًا عَلَیۡنَاۤۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝١٠٤

The day We will roll up the heaven like a scroll is rolled up for books; as We began the first creation will We repeat it, a promise upon Us; indeed, We are doers.

yawma naṭwī l-samāa kaṭayyi l-sijili lil'kutubi kamā badanā awwala khalqin nuʿīduhu waʿdan ʿalaynā innā kunnā fāʿilīn

وَلَقَدۡ كَتَبۡنَا فِی ٱلزَّبُورِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱلذِّكۡرِ أَنَّ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ یَرِثُهَا عِبَادِیَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ ۝١٠٥

And verily, We have written in the Psalms after the reminder that 'The earth, My righteous servants will inherit it.'

walaqad katabnā fī l-zabūri min baʿdi l-dhik'ri anna l-arḍa yarithuhā ʿibādiya l-ṣāliḥūn

إِنَّ فِی هَـٰذَا لَبَلَـٰغࣰا لِّقَوۡمٍ عَـٰبِدِینَ ۝١٠٦

Indeed, in this is surely a communication for people, servants.

inna fī hādhā labalāghan liqawmin ʿābidīn

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَـٰكَ إِلَّا رَحۡمَةࣰ لِّلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٠٧

And We have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds.

wamā arsalnāka illā raḥmatan lil'ʿālamīn

قُلۡ إِنَّمَا یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیَّ أَنَّمَاۤ إِلَـٰهُكُمۡ إِلَـٰهࣱ وَ ٰحِدࣱۖ فَهَلۡ أَنتُم مُّسۡلِمُونَ ۝١٠٨

Say, 'It is only inspired to me that your god is one god; will you then submit?

qul innamā yūḥā ilayya annamā ilāhukum ilāhun wāḥidun fahal antum mus'limūn

فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡا۟ فَقُلۡ ءَاذَنتُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ سَوَاۤءࣲۖ وَإِنۡ أَدۡرِیۤ أَقَرِیبٌ أَم بَعِیدࣱ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ ۝١٠٩

Then if they turn their backs then say, 'I have announced to you equally, and I do not know if what you are threatened with is near or far.

fa-in tawallaw faqul ādhantukum ʿalā sawāin wa-in adrī aqarībun am baʿīdun mā tūʿadūn

إِنَّهُۥ یَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡجَهۡرَ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَیَعۡلَمُ مَا تَكۡتُمُونَ ۝١١٠

Indeed, He knows what is spoken aloud, and He knows what you hide.

innahu yaʿlamu l-jahra mina l-qawli wayaʿlamu mā taktumūn

وَإِنۡ أَدۡرِی لَعَلَّهُۥ فِتۡنَةࣱ لَّكُمۡ وَمَتَـٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١١١

And I know not, perhaps it is a trial for you and a provision for a time.’

wa-in adrī laʿallahu fit'natun lakum wamatāʿun ilā ḥīni

قَـٰلَ رَبِّ ٱحۡكُم بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَرَبُّنَا ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ٱلۡمُسۡتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ ۝١١٢

He said, 'My Lord! Judge with truth. And Our Lord is the Merciful, the one whose help is sought against what you describe.'

qāla rabbi uḥ'kum bil-ḥaqi warabbunā l-raḥmānu l-mus'taʿānu ʿalā mā taṣifūn
