8:42
إِذۡ أَنتُم بِٱلۡعُدۡوَةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَهُم بِٱلۡعُدۡوَةِ ٱلۡقُصۡوَىٰ وَٱلرَّكۡبُ أَسۡفَلَ مِنكُمۡۚ وَلَوۡ تَوَاعَدتُّمۡ لَٱخۡتَلَفۡتُمۡ فِی ٱلۡمِیعَـٰدِ وَلَـٰكِن لِّیَقۡضِیَ ٱللَّهُ أَمۡرࣰا كَانَ مَفۡعُولࣰا لِّیَهۡلِكَ مَنۡ هَلَكَ عَنۢ بَیِّنَةࣲ وَیَحۡیَىٰ مَنۡ حَیَّ عَنۢ بَیِّنَةࣲۗ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَسَمِیعٌ عَلِیمٌ ۝٤٢

(And remember) when you (the army of the believers) were on the near side of the valley, and they were on the far side (of the valley), and the caravan (of Quraish) on lower ground than you. Even if you had made a mutual time to meet (for war), you would certainly have failed at that time: But (again you met) for Allah to complete an act already decided; So that those who died would die after a clear Sign (of Allah), and those who lived would live after a clear Sign (of Allah). And surely Allah is All Seeing (Sami’) and All Knowing (Aleem, all things)
idh antum bil-ʿud'wati l-dun'yā wahum bil-ʿud'wati l-quṣ'wā wal-rakbu asfala minkum walaw tawāʿadttum la-ikh'talaftum fī l-mīʿādi walākin liyaqḍiya l-lahu amran kāna mafʿūlan liyahlika man halaka ʿan bayyinatin wayaḥyā man ḥayya ʿan bayyinatin wa-inna l-laha lasamīʿun ʿalīmu

8:72
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟ بِأَمۡوَ ٰلِهِمۡ وَأَنفُسِهِمۡ فِی سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَاوَوا۟ وَّنَصَرُوۤا۟ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ أَوۡلِیَاۤءُ بَعۡضࣲۚ وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَمۡ یُهَاجِرُوا۟ مَا لَكُم مِّن وَلَـٰیَتِهِم مِّن شَیۡءٍ حَتَّىٰ یُهَاجِرُوا۟ۚ وَإِنِ ٱسۡتَنصَرُوكُمۡ فِی ٱلدِّینِ فَعَلَیۡكُمُ ٱلنَّصۡرُ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ قَوۡمِۭ بَیۡنَكُمۡ وَبَیۡنَهُم مِّیثَـٰقࣱۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ بَصِیرࣱ ۝٧٢
Syed Vickar Ahamed
Verily, those who believed, and who left their homes (in the time of Hijrah), and who fought for the Faith with their property and their persons, in the Cause of Allah, and those who gave (them) shelter and help— These are (all) friends and protectors, of one another. And as to those who believed but did not leave their homes (or emigrate in Hijrah), you have no duty to protect them, until they do emigrate (and come into your protection); But if they ask for your help in religion, it is your duty to help them, except against a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance (agreement or friendship). And (remember) Allah sees all that you do
inna alladhīna āmanū wahājarū wajāhadū bi-amwālihim wa-anfusihim fī sabīli l-lahi wa-alladhīna āwaw wanaṣarū ulāika baʿḍuhum awliyāu baʿḍin wa-alladhīna āmanū walam yuhājirū mā lakum min walāyatihim min shayin ḥattā yuhājirū wa-ini is'tanṣarūkum fī l-dīni faʿalaykumu l-naṣru illā ʿalā qawmin baynakum wabaynahum mīthāqun wal-lahu bimā taʿmalūna baṣīru
