Luqman, Lukman 31:7

كَأَن ka-an

لَّمْ lam

يَسْمَعْهَا yasmaʿhā
he (had) heard them V
كَأَنَّ ka-anna
as if Prep
فِىٓ fī
in Prep
أُذُنَيْهِ udhunayhi
his ears Noun
وَقْرًا waqran
(is) deafness Noun
فَبَشِّرْهُ fabashir'hu
So give him tidings V
بِعَذَابٍ biʿadhābin
of a punishment Noun
أَلِيمٍ alīmin
painful Noun

When Our verses are recited to him, he turns away disdainfully as if he had not heard them, as if there were heaviness in his ears. Tell him that there will be a painful torment

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَـٰتُنَا وَلَّىٰ مُسۡتَكۡبِرࣰا كَأَن لَّمۡ یَسۡمَعۡهَا كَأَنَّ فِیۤ أُذُنَیۡهِ وَقۡرࣰاۖ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِیمٍ ۝٧

wa-idhā tut'lā ʿalayhi āyātunā wallā mus'takbiran ka-an lam yasmaʿhā ka-anna fī udhunayhi waqran fabashir'hu biʿadhābin alīmi
