1 The Calamity

الْقَارِعَةُ

Bakhtiari Nejad

The pounding disaster.

مَا الْقَارِعَةُ

Bakhtiari Nejad

What is the pounding disaster?

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ

Bakhtiari Nejad

And how would you know what the pounding disaster is?

Wama adraka ma alqariAAatu

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ

Bakhtiari Nejad

The day when the people become like scattered butterflies

Yawma yakoonu alnnasu kaalfarashi almabthoothi

وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنفُوشِ

Bakhtiari Nejad

and the mountains become like fluffed up colored wool.

Watakoonu aljibalu kaalAAihni almanfooshi

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ

Bakhtiari Nejad

As for anyone whose balance (of good deeds) is heavy,

Faamma man thaqulat mawazeenuhu

فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ

Bakhtiari Nejad

then he is in a pleasant life.

Fahuwa fee AAeeshatin radiyatin

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ

Bakhtiari Nejad

And as for anyone whose balance (of good deeds) is light,

Waamma man khaffat mawazeenuhu

فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ

Bakhtiari Nejad

then his residence is a bottomless pit.

Faommuhu hawiyatun

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ

Bakhtiari Nejad

And how would you know what it is?

Wama adraka ma hiyah

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ

Bakhtiari Nejad

(It is) a scorching fire.

Narun hamiyatun
