The Emissaries, Winds Sent Forth — Muhammad Taqi Usmani Translation

77:1

وَٱلۡمُرۡسَلَـٰتِ عُرۡفࣰا ۝١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

(I swear) by those (winds) that are sent one after the other

wal-mur'salāti ʿur'fa

77:2

فَٱلۡعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصۡفࣰا ۝٢

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

and by those that blow violently

fal-ʿāṣifāti ʿaṣfa

77:3

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَ ٰتِ نَشۡرࣰا ۝٣

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

and by those that spread (clouds) all over

wal-nāshirāti nashra

77:4

فَٱلۡفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرۡقࣰا ۝٤

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

and by those (angels) who differentiate (between right and wrong) distinctly

fal-fāriqāti farqa

77:5

فَٱلۡمُلۡقِیَـٰتِ ذِكۡرًا ۝٥

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

then bring down the advice

fal-mul'qiyāti dhik'ra

77:6

عُذۡرًا أَوۡ نُذۡرًا ۝٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

leaving no excuse (for the disbelievers) or giving warnings

innamā tūʿadūna lawāqiʿu

77:7

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَ ٰقِعࣱ ۝٧

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

that which you are promised is sure to happen

Innama tooAAadoona lawaqiAAun

77:8

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتۡ ۝٨

So, when the stars will be extinguished

fa-idhā l-nujūmu ṭumisa

77:9

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فُرِجَتۡ ۝٩

and when the sky will be split

wa-idhā l-samāu furija

77:10

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ نُسِفَتۡ ۝١٠

and when the mountains will be blown away as dust

wa-idhā l-jibālu nusifa

77:11

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتۡ ۝١١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

and when the messengers will be assembled at the appointed time, (then all matters will be decided.

wa-idhā l-rusulu uqqita

77:12

لِأَیِّ یَوۡمٍ أُجِّلَتۡ ۝١٢

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

(Do you know) for which day has all this been delayed

li-ayyi yawmin ujjila

77:13

لِیَوۡمِ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ۝١٣

For the Day of Decision

liyawmi l-faṣl

77:14

وَمَاۤ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا یَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ۝١٤

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

And what may let you know what the Day of Decision is

wamā adrāka mā yawmu l-faṣl

77:15

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝١٥

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:16

أَلَمۡ نُهۡلِكِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Did We not destroy the earlier people

alam nuh'liki l-awalīn

77:17

ثُمَّ نُتۡبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١٧

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Then We will cause the later ones to follow them

thumma nut'biʿuhumu l-ākhirīn

77:18

كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝١٨

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Thus We deal with the guilty people

kadhālika nafʿalu bil-muj'rimīn

77:19

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝١٩

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:20

أَلَمۡ نَخۡلُقكُّم مِّن مَّاۤءࣲ مَّهِینࣲ ۝٢٠

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Did We not create you from a worthless fluid

alam nakhluqkkum min māin mahīni

77:21

فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ فِی قَرَارࣲ مَّكِینٍ ۝٢١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Then We put it in a firm place of res

fajaʿalnāhu fī qarārin makīni

77:22

إِلَىٰ قَدَرࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ۝٢٢

فَقَدَرۡنَا فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡقَـٰدِرُونَ ۝٢٣

Thus We did (all this with perfect) measure; so We are the best to measure

faqadarnā faniʿ'ma l-qādirūn

77:24

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٢٤

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:25

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ كِفَاتًا ۝٢٥

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Did We not make the earth a container that collect

alam najʿali l-arḍa kifāta

77:26

أَحۡیَاۤءࣰ وَأَمۡوَ ٰتࣰا ۝٢٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

the living and the dead

aḥyāan wa-amwāta

77:27

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِیهَا رَوَ ٰسِیَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتࣲ وَأَسۡقَیۡنَـٰكُم مَّاۤءࣰ فُرَاتࣰا ۝٢٧

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

And We placed towering mountains therein, and provided you with sweet water to drink

wajaʿalnā fīhā rawāsiya shāmikhātin wa-asqaynākum māan furāta

77:28

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٢٨

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:29

ٱنطَلِقُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٢٩

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

(It will be said to them on that day,) .Push on to what you used to deny

inṭaliqū ilā mā kuntum bihi tukadhibūn

77:30

ٱنطَلِقُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلࣲّ ذِی ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبࣲ ۝٣٠

Push on to a canopy (of Hell‘s smoke) having three branches

inṭaliqū ilā ẓillin dhī thalāthi shuʿabi

77:31

لَّا ظَلِیلࣲ وَلَا یُغۡنِی مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ ۝٣١

that neither has a comfortable shade, nor is it of any use against the scorching heat

lā ẓalīlin walā yugh'nī mina l-lahab

77:32

إِنَّهَا تَرۡمِی بِشَرَرࣲ كَٱلۡقَصۡرِ ۝٣٢

It emits sparks (as huge) as castles

innahā tarmī bishararin kal-qaṣr

77:33

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتࣱ صُفۡرࣱ ۝٣٣

as if they were yellowish camels

ka-annahu jimālatun ṣuf'ru

77:34

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٣٤

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:35

هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُ لَا یَنطِقُونَ ۝٣٥

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

This is the day when they will not speak

hādhā yawmu lā yanṭiqūn

77:36

وَلَا یُؤۡذَنُ لَهُمۡ فَیَعۡتَذِرُونَ ۝٣٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

nor will they be allowed to offer excuses

walā yu'dhanu lahum fayaʿtadhirūn

77:37

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٣٧

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:38

هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِۖ جَمَعۡنَـٰكُمۡ وَٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٣٨

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

(It will be said to them,) .This is the Day of Decision. We have assembled you and the earlier ones together

hādhā yawmu l-faṣli jamaʿnākum wal-awalīn

77:39

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ كَیۡدࣱ فَكِیدُونِ ۝٣٩

Now, if you have a trick, use the trick against Me

fa-in kāna lakum kaydun fakīdūn

77:40

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٤٠

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:41

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی ظِلَـٰلࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ۝٤١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Of course, the God-fearing will be amid shades and streams

inna l-mutaqīna fī ẓilālin waʿuyūni

77:42

وَفَوَ ٰكِهَ مِمَّا یَشۡتَهُونَ ۝٤٢

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

and fruits of their desire

wafawākiha mimmā yashtahūn

77:43

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشۡرَبُوا۟ هَنِیۤءَۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٤٣

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

It will be said to them, .Eat and drink with pleasure because of what you used to do

kulū wa-ish'rabū hanīan bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

77:44

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٤٤

This is how We reward those who do good deeds

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

77:45

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٤٥

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:46

كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِیلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجۡرِمُونَ ۝٤٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

.(O disbelievers,) eat and drink for a while! You are guilty ones

kulū watamattaʿū qalīlan innakum muj'rimūn

77:47

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٤٧

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:48

وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمُ ٱرۡكَعُوا۟ لَا یَرۡكَعُونَ ۝٤٨

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

And when it is said to them, .Bow down (i.e. submit to Allah‘s commands)., they do not bow down

wa-idhā qīla lahumu ir'kaʿū lā yarkaʿūn

77:49

وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٤٩

Woe that Day to the deniers

waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

77:50

فَبِأَیِّ حَدِیثِۭ بَعۡدَهُۥ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٥٠

Now, in which discourse, after this, will they believe

fabi-ayyi ḥadīthin baʿdahu yu'minūn
