Jonah 10:53 Noun
۞ وَیَسۡتَنۢبِءُونَكَ أَحَقٌّ هُوَۖ قُلۡ إِی وَرَبِّیۤ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقࣱّۖ وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝٥٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they ask information of you, [O Muhammad], "Is it true?" Say, "Yes, by my Lord. Indeed, it is truth; and you will not cause failure [to Allah ]."
Abdel Haleem: They ask you [Prophet], ‘Is it true?’ Say, ‘Yes, by my Lord, it is true, and you cannot escape it.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they ask thee to inform them (saying): Is it true? Say: Yea, by my Lord, verily it is true, and ye cannot escape
Hud 11:20 Noun
أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَمۡ یَكُونُوا۟ مُعۡجِزِینَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِنۡ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَۘ یُضَـٰعَفُ لَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Those were not causing failure [to Allah ] on earth, nor did they have besides Allah any protectors. For them the punishment will be multiplied. They were not able to hear, nor did they see
Abdel Haleem: They will not escape on earth, and there will be no one other than God to protect them. Their punishment will be doubled. They could not hear, and they did not see
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Such will not escape in the earth, nor have they any protecting friends beside Allah. For them the torment will be double. They could not bear to hear, and they used not to see
Hud 11:33 Noun
قَالَ إِنَّمَا یَأۡتِیكُم بِهِ ٱللَّهُ إِن شَاۤءَ وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝٣٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, " Allah will only bring it to you if He wills, and you will not cause [Him] failure
Abdel Haleem: He said, ‘It is God who will bring it down, if He wishes, and you will not be able to escape
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: Only Allah will bring it upon you if He will, and ye can by no means escape
Hud 11:72 Noun
قَالَتۡ یَـٰوَیۡلَتَىٰۤ ءَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا۠ عَجُوزࣱ وَهَـٰذَا بَعۡلِی شَیۡخًاۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَیۡءٌ عَجِیبࣱ ۝٧٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): She said, "Woe to me! Shall I give birth while I am an old woman and this, my husband, is an old man? Indeed, this is an amazing thing!"
Abdel Haleem: She said, ‘Alas for me! How am I to bear a child when I am an old woman, and my husband here is an old man? That would be a strange thing!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: She said: Oh woe is me! Shall I bear a child when I am an old woman, and this my husband is an old man? Lo! this is a strange thing
The Bee 16:46 Noun
أَوۡ یَأۡخُذَهُمۡ فِی تَقَلُّبِهِمۡ فَمَا هُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝٤٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Or that He would not seize them during their [usual] activity, and they could not cause failure
Abdel Haleem: that it will not catch them suddenly in the midst of their comings and goings- for they cannot frustrate God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Or that He will not seize them in their going to and fro so that there be no escape for them
The Pilgrimage 22:51 Noun
وَٱلَّذِینَ سَعَوۡا۟ فِیۤ ءَایَـٰتِنَا مُعَـٰجِزِینَ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But the ones who strove against Our verses, [seeking] to cause failure - those are the companions of Hellfire
Abdel Haleem: but those who strive to oppose Our messages and try in vain to defeat Us are destined for the Blaze
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: While those who strive to thwart Our revelations, such are rightful owners of the Fire
The Light 24:57 Noun
لَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مُعۡجِزِینَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُۖ وَلَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ۝٥٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Never think that the disbelievers are causing failure [to Allah ] upon the earth. Their refuge will be the Fire - and how wretched the destination
Abdel Haleem: Do not think [Prophet] that the disbelievers can escape God on earth; the Fire will be their final home, an evil end
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Think not that the disbelievers can escape in the land. Fire will be their home - a hapless journey's end
The Poets 26:171 Noun
إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٧١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Except an old woman among those who remained behind
Abdel Haleem: except for an old woman who stayed behind

The Spider 29:22 Noun
وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِیࣲّ وَلَا نَصِیرࣲ ۝٢٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And you will not cause failure [to Allah ] upon the earth or in the heaven. And you have not other than Allah any protector or any helper
Abdel Haleem: You cannot escape Him on earth or in the heavens; you will have no one to protect or help you besides God.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Ye cannot escape (from Him) in the earth or in the sky, and beside Allah there is for you no friend or helper
Saba, Sheba 34:38 Noun
وَٱلَّذِینَ یَسۡعَوۡنَ فِیۤ ءَایَـٰتِنَا مُعَـٰجِزِینَ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ فِی ٱلۡعَذَابِ مُحۡضَرُونَ ۝٣٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And the ones who strive against Our verses to cause [them] failure - those will be brought into the punishment [to remain]
Abdel Haleem: whereas those who work against Our messages, seeking to undermine them, will be summoned to punishment.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And as for those who strive against Our revelations, challenging, they will be brought to the doom
Saba, Sheba 34:5 Noun
وَٱلَّذِینَ سَعَوۡ فِیۤ ءَایَـٰتِنَا مُعَـٰجِزِینَ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابࣱ مِّن رِّجۡزٍ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But those who strive against Our verses [seeking] to cause failure - for them will be a painful punishment of foul nature
Abdel Haleem: But as for those who work against Our Revelations, seeking to undermine them, there will be a torment of painful suffering
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: But those who strive against Our revelations, challenging (Us), theirs will be a painful doom of wrath

إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٣٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Except his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers]
Abdel Haleem: except for an old woman who stayed behind

The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:51 Noun
فَأَصَابَهُمۡ سَیِّءَاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ۚ وَٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنۡ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ سَیُصِیبُهُمۡ سَیِّءَاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ وَمَا هُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And the evil consequences of what they earned struck them. And those who have wronged of these [people] will be afflicted by the evil consequences of what they earned; and they will not cause failure
Abdel Haleem: they suffered its evil effects. Today’s wrongdoers will also suffer the evil effects of their deeds: they will not escape
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: But the evils that they earned smote them; and such of these as do wrong, the evils that they earn will smite them; they cannot escape
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:31 Noun
وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِیࣲّ وَلَا نَصِیرࣲ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And you will not cause failure [to Allah ] upon the earth. And you have not besides Allah any protector or helper
Abdel Haleem: you cannot escape Him anywhere on earth: you have no protector or helper other than God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper
The Wind-curved Sandhills, The Dunes, The Sandhills 46:32 Noun
وَمَن لَّا یُجِبۡ دَاعِیَ ٱللَّهِ فَلَیۡسَ بِمُعۡجِزࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَیۡسَ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِهِۦۤ أَوۡلِیَاۤءُۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But he who does not respond to the Caller of Allah will not cause failure [to Him] upon earth, and he will not have besides Him any protectors. Those are in manifest error."
Abdel Haleem: Those who fail to respond to God’s call cannot escape God’s power anywhere on earth, nor will they have any protector against Him: such people have clearly gone far astray
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And whoso respondeth not to Allah's summoner he can nowise escape in the earth, and he hath no protecting friends instead of Him. Such are in error manifest
The Winnowing Winds, The Scatterers 51:29 Noun
فَأَقۡبَلَتِ ٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ فِی صَرَّةࣲ فَصَكَّتۡ وَجۡهَهَا وَقَالَتۡ عَجُوزٌ عَقِیمࣱ ۝٢٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!"
Abdel Haleem: His wife then entered with a loud cry, struck her face, and said, ‘A barren old woman?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman
The Moon 54:20 Noun
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلࣲ مُّنقَعِرࣲ ۝٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted
Abdel Haleem: it swept people away like uprooted palm trunks
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees
The Reality, The Inevitable 69:7 Noun
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ سَبۡعَ لَیَالࣲ وَثَمَـٰنِیَةَ أَیَّامٍ حُسُومࣰاۖ فَتَرَى ٱلۡقَوۡمَ فِیهَا صَرۡعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ خَاوِیَةࣲ ۝٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees
Abdel Haleem: that God let loose against them for seven consecutive nights, eight consecutive days, so that you could have seen its people lying dead like hollow palm-trunks
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees
Cattle, Livestock 6:134 Noun
إِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُونَ لَءَاتࣲۖ وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝١٣٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, what you are promised is coming, and you will not cause failure [to Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: What you are promised is sure to come, and you cannot escape
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! that which ye are promised will surely come to pass, and ye cannot escape
Repentance 9:2 Noun
فَسِیحُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَرۡبَعَةَ أَشۡهُرࣲ وَٱعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّكُمۡ غَیۡرُ مُعۡجِزِی ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡزِی ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So travel freely, [O disbelievers], throughout the land [during] four months but know that you cannot cause failure to Allah and that Allah will disgrace the disbelievers
Abdel Haleem: you [idolaters] may move freely about the land for four months, but you should bear in mind both that you will not escape God, and that God will disgrace those who defy [Him]
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Travel freely in the land four months, and know that ye cannot escape Allah and that Allah will confound the disbelievers (in His Guidance)
Repentance 9:3 Noun
وَأَذَ ٰنࣱ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۤ إِلَى ٱلنَّاسِ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡحَجِّ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرِ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ وَرَسُولُهُۥۚ فَإِن تُبۡتُمۡ فَهُوَ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّیۡتُمۡ فَٱعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّكُمۡ غَیۡرُ مُعۡجِزِی ٱللَّهِۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِیمٍ ۝٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [it is] an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage that Allah is disassociated from the disbelievers, and [so is] His Messenger. So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn away - then know that you will not cause failure to Allah . And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment
Abdel Haleem: On the Day of the Great Pilgrimage [there will be] a proclamation from God and His Messenger to all people: ‘God and His Messenger are released from [treaty] obligations to the idolaters. It will be better for you [idolaters] if you repent; know that you cannot escape God if you turn away.’ [Prophet], warn those who ignore [God] that they will have a painful punishment
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And a proclamation from Allah and His messenger to all men on the day of the Greater Pilgrimage that Allah is free from obligation to the idolaters, and (so is) His messenger. So, if ye repent, it will be better for you; but if ye are averse, then know that ye cannot escape Allah. Give tidings (O Muhammad) of a painful doom to those who disbelieve

The Angels, Originator, The Creator 35:44 Verb
أَوَ لَمۡ یَسِیرُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَیَنظُرُوا۟ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ وَكَانُوۤا۟ أَشَدَّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةࣰۚ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِیُعۡجِزَهُۥ مِن شَیۡءࣲ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَلَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَلِیمࣰا قَدِیرࣰا ۝٤٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? And they were greater than them in power. But Allah is not to be caused failure by anything in the heavens or on the earth. Indeed, He is ever Knowing and Competent
Abdel Haleem: Have they not travelled in the land and seen how those before them met their end, although they were superior to them in strength? God is not to be frustrated by anything in the heavens or on the earth: He is all knowing, all powerful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them, and they were mightier than these in power? Allah is not such that aught in the heavens or in the earth escapeth Him. Lo! He is the Wise, the Mighty
The Table, The Table Spread 5:31 Verb
فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ غُرَابࣰا یَبۡحَثُ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ لِیُرِیَهُۥ كَیۡفَ یُوَ ٰرِی سَوۡءَةَ أَخِیهِۚ قَالَ یَـٰوَیۡلَتَىٰۤ أَعَجَزۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِثۡلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡغُرَابِ فَأُوَ ٰرِیَ سَوۡءَةَ أَخِیۖ فَأَصۡبَحَ مِنَ ٱلنَّـٰدِمِینَ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then Allah sent a crow searching in the ground to show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother. He said, "O woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the body of my brother?" And he became of the regretful
Abdel Haleem: God sent a raven to scratch up the ground and show him how to cover his brother’s corpse and he said, ‘Woe is me! Could I not have been like this raven and covered up my brother’s body?’ He became remorseful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then Allah sent a raven scratching up the ground, to show him how to hide his brother's naked corpse. He said: Woe unto me! Am I not able to be as this raven and so hide my brother's naked corpse? And he became repentant
The Jinn 72:12 Verb
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّاۤ أَن لَّن نُّعۡجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَن نُّعۡجِزَهُۥ هَرَبࣰا ۝١٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight
Abdel Haleem: We know we can never frustrate God on earth; we can never escape Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And we know that we cannot escape from Allah in the earth, nor can we escape by flight
The Spoils of War 8:59 Verb
وَلَا یَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ سَبَقُوۤا۟ۚ إِنَّهُمۡ لَا یُعۡجِزُونَ ۝٥٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And let not those who disbelieve think they will escape. Indeed, they will not cause failure [to Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: The disbelievers should not think they have won; they cannot escape
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah's Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape
