وَٱسۡتَفۡتَحُوا۟ وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِیدࣲ ١٥
wa-is'taftaḥū wakhāba kullu jabbārin ʿanīdi
They asked God to decide, and every obstinate tyrant failed
But they (the Messengers) sought help and victory (from Allah), and every stubborn, arrogant dictator (who refused to believe in Allah) was destroyed,
And they besought judgment, and disappointed was every tyrant obstinate
Then (the apostles) asked of God's assistance, and every arrogant tyrant was frustrated
(The Rasuls) wanted conquest... And (thereby) every obstinate tyrant lost.
They asked for Allah´s victory, and every obdurate tyrant failed.
They prayed for victory [against the infidels], and every obdurate tyrant has failed
They (both the Messengers and unbelievers) sought a judgment (through test of right and might), and in the end every stubborn tyrant was frustrated (made to fail)
They sought a judgment, (but when it came) every haughty person (and) enemy (of truth) met with no success (and was utterly disappointed)
They sought a judgment; then was disappointed every froward tyrant -
And they asked for victory, and every stubborn tyrant was disappointed.
They challenged the Lord and received what they deserved. Every tyrant has to face his doom
Although they sought victory, disappointed was every powerful, obstinate dictator
Thus they sought a legislation, then every stubborn tyrant failed;
Then they asked for an issue; and disappointed was every rebel tyrant
And they sought a decision, and every stubborn rebel was destroyed
And they [the messengers] asked for victory and thereafter every obstinate over-bearing arrogant met with frustration.
And they asked assistance of God, and every rebellious perverse person failed of success
Then they sought to force a decision (to settle the matter in their favour); and disappointed was every rebel tyrant
They sought a judgment, then every tyrant was disappointed
Then sought they help from God, and every proud rebellious one perished
And they sought a decision, and perished all the obstinate, arrogant ones
And the Messengers sought judgment and frustrated was every haughty, stubborn one.
They sought victory. Frustration came to every arrogant sinner.
The Messengers called for judgement, (and when the judgement was passed) every tyrant opposer of the Truth was disappointed
They sought Our judgement. And (thanks to that judgement) every obstinate tyrant opposed to the Truth was brought to naught
And they sought judgment, and every insolent opposer was disappointed
And the (messengers) sought for victory, so every compelling opponent was defeated.
And they sought victory and every obstinate tyrant was frustrated
And (ultimately) the Messengers sought victory (from Allah), and every obstinate rebel met defeat and came to nothing
And they sought victory, and every arrogant tyrant was then made to lose
Andthey sought victory, and every arrogant tyrant was then made to lose
And they sought victory, and every arrogant tyrant was then made to lose.
And they seeked victory/judgment , and every stubborn/obstinate tyrant/rebel failed/despaired
And they prayed [to God] that the truth be made to triumph. And [thus it is:] every arrogant enemy of the truth shall be undone [in the life to come]
And they (The Messengers) sought assistance (from Allah), and every stubborn potentate was disappointed
And they sought help (from their Lord) and every froward potentate was bought to naught
They prayed for victory and the haughty transgressors were defeated
They sought final decision (by demanding the divine scourge), and (thus) every obstinate tyrant failed
They sought victory and help (from Allâh), and every supercilious tyrant brought destruction to himself.
They sought the decision, and every obstinate oppressor lost out

The Messengers prayed for victory and the infidels entertained expectation of triumph and suppression of their adversaries -the Muslims-, but the hopes of every transgressor who is self-willed and opinionated are doomed to disappointment
They prayed to win over their people, and the scheming of every stubborn tyrant failed.
And both sides called for judgment, so every stubborn tyrant was doomed.
And they asked for a decision, and every obstinate tyrant was brought down.
And they called for help; and every hardened sinner came to grief
They issued a challenge, and consequently, every stubborn tyrant ended up doomed.
They prayed [to God for help] and each stubborn enemy of the truth failed,

And they acquired conquest and failed every stubborn mighty.
And they (the prophets as well as the believers) sought victory, but every obstinate oppressor remained deprived
And they prayed for God's help and victory [for the truth]. And every powerful, obstinate enemy of the truth shall come to grief.
The Messengers earnestly sought help from their Lord, and every stubborn tyrant ended up frustrated
And they asked for judgment and every insolent opposer was disappointed
And they prayed for victory, and every haughty enemy of truth came to naught
And they sought victory, and every stubborn tyrant fails
And they wanted to win and (wanted) the decision, and failure (and defeat) was the fate of every powerful (and) willful transgressor
They sought victory, and every stubborn tyrant was met with disappointment.
And they prayed for victory, and every stubborn tyrant came to disappointment
And they requested victory from Allah , and disappointed, [therefore], was every obstinate tyrant
And they sought victory; and disappointed was every stubborn tyrant.
But they sought victory and decision (there and then), and frustration was the lot of every powerful obstinate transgressor
