44:1

حمۤ ۝١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Ha-Mim. (Only Allah and the Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him] know the real meaning.

hha-mee

44:2

وَٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِینِ ۝٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

By this Light-Giving Book

wal-kitābi l-mubīn

44:3

إِنَّاۤ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ فِی لَیۡلَةࣲ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِینَ ۝٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, We have sent it down in a blessed night. Surely, We are the Warner

innā anzalnāhu fī laylatin mubārakatin innā kunnā mundhirīn

44:4

فِیهَا یُفۡرَقُ كُلُّ أَمۡرٍ حَكِیمٍ ۝٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

In this (night) judgment is given on all matters of wisdom (separately)

fīhā yuf'raqu kullu amrin ḥakīmi

44:5

أَمۡرࣰا مِّنۡ عِندِنَاۤۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرۡسِلِینَ ۝٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

By Our command; surely, it is We Who send

amran min ʿindinā innā kunnā mur'silīn

44:6

رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّن رَّبِّكَۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(It) is mercy from your Lord. Verily, He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing

raḥmatan min rabbika innahu huwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

44:7

رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِینَ ۝٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, provided you have faith with certitude

rabbi l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā baynahumā in kuntum mūqinīn

44:8

لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ یُحۡیِۦ وَیُمِیتُۖ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَاۤىِٕكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

There is no God but He. He is the One Who gives life and causes death. He is your Lord and the Lord of your fathers (as well)

lā ilāha illā huwa yuḥ'yī wayumītu rabbukum warabbu ābāikumu l-awalīn

44:9

بَلۡ هُمۡ فِی شَكࣲّ یَلۡعَبُونَ ۝٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Yet they are in doubt, busy playing

bal hum fī shakkin yalʿabūn

44:10

فَٱرۡتَقِبۡ یَوۡمَ تَأۡتِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ بِدُخَانࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So wait for the Day when the sky will cause a clear smoke to appear

fa-ir'taqib yawma tatī l-samāu bidukhānin mubīni

44:11

یَغۡشَى ٱلنَّاسَۖ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝١١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Which will envelop people (i.e., will encompass everything). That will be a painful torment

yaghshā l-nāsa hādhā ʿadhābun alīmu

44:12

رَّبَّنَا ٱكۡشِفۡ عَنَّا ٱلۡعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(They will then say:) ‘O our Lord! Remove this torment from us. Surely, we believe.

rabbanā ik'shif ʿannā l-ʿadhāba innā mu'minūn

44:13

أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ وَقَدۡ جَاۤءَهُمۡ رَسُولࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

How can their acceptance of the admonition now be (of any use), whereas there came to them a Messenger with a clear exposition

annā lahumu l-dhik'rā waqad jāahum rasūlun mubīnu

44:14

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوۡا۟ عَنۡهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمࣱ مَّجۡنُونٌ ۝١٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

But they turned their faces from him and (denigrating) they said: ‘(He) is a tutored madman.

thumma tawallaw ʿanhu waqālū muʿallamun majnūnu

44:15

إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابِ قَلِیلًاۚ إِنَّكُمۡ عَاۤىِٕدُونَ ۝١٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, We remove the torment a little (but) you will certainly reiterate (the same disbelief)

innā kāshifū l-ʿadhābi qalīlan innakum ʿāidūn

44:16

یَوۡمَ نَبۡطِشُ ٱلۡبَطۡشَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰۤ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ ۝١٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The Day when We will seize with the Greatest Seizure, (that Day) We shall certainly exact revenge

yawma nabṭishu l-baṭshata l-kub'rā innā muntaqimūn

44:17

۞ وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَجَاۤءَهُمۡ رَسُولࣱ كَرِیمٌ ۝١٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And in fact, We put to trial the people of Pharaoh (also) before them and the exalted Messenger (Musa [Moses]) came to them

walaqad fatannā qablahum qawma fir'ʿawna wajāahum rasūlun karīmu

44:18

أَنۡ أَدُّوۤا۟ إِلَیَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(He said:) ‘Hand over to me the servants of Allah (the Children of Israel). Verily, I am a trusted Messenger for your guidance and leadership

an addū ilayya ʿibāda l-lahi innī lakum rasūlun amīnu

44:19

وَأَن لَّا تَعۡلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّیۤ ءَاتِیكُم بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And do not rebel against Allah. I have come to you with the enlightening proof

wa-an lā taʿlū ʿalā l-lahi innī ātīkum bisul'ṭānin mubīni

44:20

وَإِنِّی عُذۡتُ بِرَبِّی وَرَبِّكُمۡ أَن تَرۡجُمُونِ ۝٢٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And I have indeed sought the protection of my Lord and your Lord lest you should stone me

wa-innī ʿudh'tu birabbī warabbikum an tarjumūn

44:21

وَإِن لَّمۡ تُؤۡمِنُوا۟ لِی فَٱعۡتَزِلُونِ ۝٢١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And if you do not believe in me, then keep away from me.

wa-in lam tu'minū lī fa-iʿ'tazilūn

44:22

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥۤ أَنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ قَوۡمࣱ مُّجۡرِمُونَ ۝٢٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then he prayed to his Lord: ‘Surely, they are a sinful people.

fadaʿā rabbahu anna hāulāi qawmun muj'rimūn

44:23

فَأَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِی لَیۡلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ۝٢٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Allah said:) ‘Then set out with My servants by night. You shall certainly be chased

fa-asri biʿibādī laylan innakum muttabaʿūn

44:24

وَٱتۡرُكِ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ رَهۡوًاۖ إِنَّهُمۡ جُندࣱ مُّغۡرَقُونَ ۝٢٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (after you pass through) leave the river still and split open. Surely, they are an army who will be drowned.

wa-ut'ruki l-baḥra rahwan innahum jundun mugh'raqūn

44:25

كَمۡ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ۝٢٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

How many a garden and spring they left behind

kam tarakū min jannātin waʿuyūni

44:26

وَزُرُوعࣲ وَمَقَامࣲ كَرِیمࣲ ۝٢٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And green crops and magnificent buildings

wazurūʿin wamaqāmin karīmi

44:27

وَنَعۡمَةࣲ كَانُوا۟ فِیهَا فَـٰكِهِینَ ۝٢٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And blessings (and comforts) in which they used to luxuriate

wanaʿmatin kānū fīhā fākihīn

44:28

كَذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَـٰهَا قَوۡمًا ءَاخَرِینَ ۝٢٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So it happened! We made another people the inheritors of all that

kadhālika wa-awrathnāhā qawman ākharīn

44:29

فَمَا بَكَتۡ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِینَ ۝٢٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then neither the heaven nor the earth wept over them, nor were they given respite

famā bakat ʿalayhimu l-samāu wal-arḍu wamā kānū munẓarīn

44:30

وَلَقَدۡ نَجَّیۡنَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡمُهِینِ ۝٣٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And verily, We delivered the Children of Israel from a humiliating suffering

walaqad najjaynā banī is'rāīla mina l-ʿadhābi l-muhīn

44:31

مِن فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِیࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝٣١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was of the most rebellious transgressors

min fir'ʿawna innahu kāna ʿāliyan mina l-mus'rifīn

44:32

وَلَقَدِ ٱخۡتَرۡنَـٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ عَلَى ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٣٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And surely, We chose them (the Children of Israel) above (their contemporary civilizations of) the world on the basis of knowledge

walaqadi ikh'tarnāhum ʿalā ʿil'min ʿalā l-ʿālamīn

44:33

وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ مَا فِیهِ بَلَـٰۤؤࣱا۟ مُّبِینٌ ۝٣٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We bestowed upon them signs containing an obvious favour (and a clear trial)

waātaynāhum mina l-āyāti mā fīhi balāon mubīnu

44:34

إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ لَیَقُولُونَ ۝٣٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, they say

inna hāulāi layaqūlūn

44:35

إِنۡ هِیَ إِلَّا مَوۡتَتُنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُنشَرِینَ ۝٣٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

‘There is nothing after our first death and we shall not be raised up (again)

in hiya illā mawtatunā l-ūlā wamā naḥnu bimunsharīn

44:36

فَأۡتُوا۟ بِءَابَاۤىِٕنَاۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٣٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So bring back our ancestors (alive) if you are truthful.

fatū biābāinā in kuntum ṣādiqīn

44:37

أَهُمۡ خَیۡرٌ أَمۡ قَوۡمُ تُبَّعࣲ وَٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ مُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٣٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Well, are they better or the people of Tubba‘ (the people of As‘ad Abu Kurib al-Himyari, the King of Yemen) and those who were before them? We destroyed (all of) them. Surely, they were people given to evildoing

ahum khayrun am qawmu tubbaʿin wa-alladhīna min qablihim ahlaknāhum innahum kānū muj'rimīn

44:38

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِینَ ۝٣٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them merely in sport

wamā khalaqnā l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā lāʿibīn

44:39

مَا خَلَقۡنَـٰهُمَاۤ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

We have created them both with (the purpose and reason) of truth. But most of them do not know

mā khalaqnāhumā illā bil-ḥaqi walākinna aktharahum lā yaʿlamūn

44:40

إِنَّ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ مِیقَـٰتُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٤٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, the Day of Judgment is the appointed time for all of them

inna yawma l-faṣli mīqātuhum ajmaʿīn

44:41

یَوۡمَ لَا یُغۡنِی مَوۡلًى عَن مَّوۡلࣰى شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا هُمۡ یُنصَرُونَ ۝٤١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The Day when a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor will they be helped

yawma lā yugh'nī mawlan ʿan mawlan shayan walā hum yunṣarūn

44:42

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٤٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Except those to whom Allah has shown mercy. (They will intercede for one another.) Surely, He is Almighty, Ever-Merciful

illā man raḥima l-lahu innahu huwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

44:43

إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ۝٤٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, the tree bearing thorny fruit

inna shajarata l-zaqūm

44:44

طَعَامُ ٱلۡأَثِیمِ ۝٤٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Will be the food of the major sinners

ṭaʿāmu l-athīm

44:45

كَٱلۡمُهۡلِ یَغۡلِی فِی ٱلۡبُطُونِ ۝٤٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

It will boil in the bellies like molten copper

kal-muh'li yaghlī fī l-buṭūn

44:46

كَغَلۡیِ ٱلۡحَمِیمِ ۝٤٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Like the seething of simmering water

kaghalyi l-ḥamīm

44:47

خُذُوهُ فَٱعۡتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَاۤءِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٤٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(It will be commanded:) ‘Seize him and drag him forcefully to the midst of Hell

khudhūhu fa-iʿ'tilūhu ilā sawāi l-jaḥīm

44:48

ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوۡقَ رَأۡسِهِۦ مِنۡ عَذَابِ ٱلۡحَمِیمِ ۝٤٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then torment him by pouring boiling water over his head

thumma ṣubbū fawqa rasihi min ʿadhābi l-ḥamīm

44:49

ذُقۡ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡكَرِیمُ ۝٤٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Taste it! Yes, you it is, the respectable and venerable (in your notion and claim)

dhuq innaka anta l-ʿazīzu l-karīm

44:50

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمۡتَرُونَ ۝٥٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Certainly, this is the very Hell you used to doubt.

inna hādhā mā kuntum bihi tamtarūn

44:51

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی مَقَامٍ أَمِینࣲ ۝٥١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Assuredly, the Godfearing will be in a place of calm and peace

inna l-mutaqīna fī maqāmin amīni

44:52

فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ۝٥٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Amid gardens and springs

fī jannātin waʿuyūni

44:53

یَلۡبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسࣲ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِینَ ۝٥٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Dressed in fine silk and heavy brocade, facing one another

yalbasūna min sundusin wa-is'tabraqin mutaqābilīn

44:54

كَذَ ٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجۡنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِینࣲ ۝٥٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So will it happen! And We shall marry them to fair maidens having lovely wide eyes

kadhālika wazawwajnāhum biḥūrin ʿīni

44:55

یَدۡعُونَ فِیهَا بِكُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِینَ ۝٥٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Sitting) there, they will call calmly for every kind of fruit

yadʿūna fīhā bikulli fākihatin āminīn

44:56

لَا یَذُوقُونَ فِیهَا ٱلۡمَوۡتَ إِلَّا ٱلۡمَوۡتَةَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٥٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

There (in Paradise) they will not taste death except the first death (which would have passed). And Allah will save them from the torment of Hell

lā yadhūqūna fīhā l-mawta illā l-mawtata l-ūlā wawaqāhum ʿadhāba l-jaḥīm

44:57

فَضۡلࣰا مِّن رَّبِّكَۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝٥٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

It is a bounty of your Lord (i.e., your Lord will bestow through your mediation alone). That is but a great success

faḍlan min rabbika dhālika huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīm

44:58

فَإِنَّمَا یَسَّرۡنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٥٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So We have made this (Qur’an) easy in your own tongue so that they may take advice

fa-innamā yassarnāhu bilisānika laʿallahum yatadhakkarūn

44:59

فَٱرۡتَقِبۡ إِنَّهُم مُّرۡتَقِبُونَ ۝٥٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So wait. Certainly, they (too) are waiting. (You will see Our revenge and their evil end, and they will see your glory and My favours to the believers through your mediation.

fa-ir'taqib innahum mur'taqibūn
