1 Not a Madman's Message
68:1 ›
۞ نۤۚ وَٱلۡقَلَمِ وَمَا یَسۡطُرُونَ ۝١
M. Farook Malik
Nun. By the pen and what they write
noon wal-qalami wamā yasṭurūn
68:2 ›
مَاۤ أَنتَ بِنِعۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجۡنُونࣲ ۝٢
M. Farook Malik
By the grace of your Lord you are not a madman
mā anta biniʿ'mati rabbika bimajnūni
68:3 ›
وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجۡرًا غَیۡرَ مَمۡنُونࣲ ۝٣
M. Farook Malik
and you shall have a never ending reward
wa-inna laka la-ajran ghayra mamnūni
68:4 ›
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝٤
M. Farook Malik
You are of the highest noble character
wa-innaka laʿalā khuluqin ʿaẓīmi
68:5 ›
فَسَتُبۡصِرُ وَیُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٥
M. Farook Malik
Soon you will see - as they will se
fasatub'ṣiru wayub'ṣirūn
68:6 ›
بِأَییِّكُمُ ٱلۡمَفۡتُونُ ۝٦
M. Farook Malik
- which of you is afflicted with madness
bi-ayyikumu l-maftūn
68:7 ›
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِیلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِینَ ۝٧
M. Farook Malik
Surely it is your Lord Who knows those who have strayed from His Way, as He knows best those who are rightly guided
inna rabbaka huwa aʿlamu biman ḍalla ʿan sabīlihi wahuwa aʿlamu bil-muh'tadīn
68:8 ›
فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٨
M. Farook Malik
So do not yield to the unbelievers
falā tuṭiʿi l-mukadhibīn
68:9 ›
وَدُّوا۟ لَوۡ تُدۡهِنُ فَیُدۡهِنُونَ ۝٩
M. Farook Malik
They desire you to compromise a little, so they too would compromise
waddū law tud'hinu fayud'hinūn
68:10 ›
وَلَا تُطِعۡ كُلَّ حَلَّافࣲ مَّهِینٍ ۝١٠
M. Farook Malik
Neither yield to any mean oath-monger
walā tuṭiʿ kulla ḥallāfin mahīni
68:11 ›
هَمَّازࣲ مَّشَّاۤءِۭ بِنَمِیمࣲ ۝١١
M. Farook Malik
mischief making slanderer
hammāzin mashāin binamīmi
68:12 ›
مَّنَّاعࣲ لِّلۡخَیۡرِ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِیمٍ ۝١٢
M. Farook Malik
opponent of good, transgressor
mannāʿin lil'khayri muʿ'tadin athīmi
68:13 ›
عُتُلِّۭ بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰلِكَ زَنِیمٍ ۝١٣
M. Farook Malik
wicked oppressor, and above all, ignoble by birth
an kāna dhā mālin wabanīn
68:14 ›
أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالࣲ وَبَنِینَ ۝١٤
M. Farook Malik
though he be possessing wealth and children
An kana tha malin wabaneena
68:15 ›
إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٥
M. Farook Malik
When Our revelations are recited to him , he says: "They are nothing but the tales of the ancients."
idhā tut'lā ʿalayhi āyātunā qāla asāṭīru l-awalīn
68:16 ›
سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلۡخُرۡطُومِ ۝١٦
M. Farook Malik
Soon We shall brand him on the snout
sanasimuhu ʿalā l-khur'ṭūm
68:17 ›
إِنَّا بَلَوۡنَـٰهُمۡ كَمَا بَلَوۡنَاۤ أَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ إِذۡ أَقۡسَمُوا۟ لَیَصۡرِمُنَّهَا مُصۡبِحِینَ ۝١٧
M. Farook Malik
Surely We shall try them as We tried the owners of the garden when they swore that they would pluck its fruit the next morning
innā balawnāhum kamā balawnā aṣḥāba l-janati idh aqsamū layaṣrimunnahā muṣ'biḥīn
68:18 ›
وَلَا یَسۡتَثۡنُونَ ۝١٨
M. Farook Malik
without adding any reservation ( such as God willing)
walā yastathnūn
68:19 ›
فَطَافَ عَلَیۡهَا طَاۤىِٕفࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمۡ نَاۤىِٕمُونَ ۝١٩
M. Farook Malik
So a calamity from your Lord came down upon it while they slept
faṭāfa ʿalayhā ṭāifun min rabbika wahum nāimūn
68:20 ›
فَأَصۡبَحَتۡ كَٱلصَّرِیمِ ۝٢٠
M. Farook Malik
and by the morning it lay as if it had been already harvested
fa-aṣbaḥat kal-ṣarīm
68:21 ›
فَتَنَادَوۡا۟ مُصۡبِحِینَ ۝٢١
M. Farook Malik
At daybreak they called out to one another
fatanādaw muṣ'biḥīn
68:22 ›
أَنِ ٱغۡدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرۡثِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰرِمِینَ ۝٢٢
M. Farook Malik
saying: "Go out early to your crop, if you want to pick its fruit."
ani igh'dū ʿalā ḥarthikum in kuntum ṣārimīn
68:23 ›
فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمۡ یَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ ۝٢٣
M. Farook Malik
So they went, whispering to one another
fa-inṭalaqū wahum yatakhāfatūn
68:24 ›
أَن لَّا یَدۡخُلَنَّهَا ٱلۡیَوۡمَ عَلَیۡكُم مِّسۡكِینࣱ ۝٢٤
M. Farook Malik
Let no needy person enter upon you in the garden today
an lā yadkhulannahā l-yawma ʿalaykum mis'kīnu
68:25 ›
وَغَدَوۡا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرۡدࣲ قَـٰدِرِینَ ۝٢٥
M. Farook Malik
Thus they went out, fixed in their stingy resolve (not to give any fruit to the poor people, as if they had the full control over harvesting the fruit)
waghadaw ʿalā ḥardin qādirīn
68:26 ›
فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡهَا قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا لَضَاۤلُّونَ ۝٢٦
M. Farook Malik
But when they saw the garden, they cried: "Surely we must have lost our way
falammā ra-awhā qālū innā laḍāllūn
68:27 ›
بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُومُونَ ۝٢٧
M. Farook Malik
Nay, we have become destitute."
bal naḥnu maḥrūmūn
68:28 ›
قَالَ أَوۡسَطُهُمۡ أَلَمۡ أَقُل لَّكُمۡ لَوۡلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ ۝٢٨
M. Farook Malik
The most upright among them said: "Did I not tell you to glorify Allah? Why did you not glorify Him?"
qāla awsaṭuhum alam aqul lakum lawlā tusabbiḥūn
68:29 ›
قَالُوا۟ سُبۡحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَاۤ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٢٩
M. Farook Malik
Then they said: "Glory be to our Lord! Surely we were unjust,"
qālū sub'ḥāna rabbinā innā kunnā ẓālimīn
68:30 ›
فَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ ۝٣٠
M. Farook Malik
and they started blaming one another
fa-aqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatalāwamūn
68:31 ›
قَالُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَاۤ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِینَ ۝٣١
M. Farook Malik
Finally they said: "Woe to us! Surely we had become rebellious
qālū yāwaylanā innā kunnā ṭāghīn
68:32 ›
عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَاۤ أَن یُبۡدِلَنَا خَیۡرࣰا مِّنۡهَاۤ إِنَّاۤ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَ ٰغِبُونَ ۝٣٢
M. Farook Malik
It may be that our Lord will give us in exchange a better garden than this: surely to our Lord do we make our humble petition."
kadhālika l-ʿadhābu walaʿadhābu l-ākhirati akbaru law kānū yaʿlamūn
68:33 ›
كَذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡعَذَابُۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ أَكۡبَرُۚ لَوۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٣
M. Farook Malik
Such is the punishment in this life; but the punishment in the Hereafter is even greater, if they but knew it
Kathalika alAAathabu walaAAathabu al-akhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoona
2 A Reminder for Nations
68:34 ›
إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝٣٤
M. Farook Malik
Surely the righteous will be rewarded with gardens of delight by their Lord
inna lil'muttaqīna ʿinda rabbihim jannāti l-naʿīm
68:35 ›
أَفَنَجۡعَلُ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ كَٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٣٥
M. Farook Malik
What do the disbelievers think? Shall We treat the Muslims as We treat the guilty
afanajʿalu l-mus'limīna kal-muj'rimīn
68:36 ›
مَا لَكُمۡ كَیۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ ۝٣٦
M. Farook Malik
What is the matter with you? What kind of Judgment do you make
mā lakum kayfa taḥkumūn
68:37 ›
أَمۡ لَكُمۡ كِتَـٰبࣱ فِیهِ تَدۡرُسُونَ ۝٣٧
M. Farook Malik
Or do you have a Book in which you read
am lakum kitābun fīhi tadrusūn
68:38 ›
إِنَّ لَكُمۡ فِیهِ لَمَا تَخَیَّرُونَ ۝٣٨
M. Farook Malik
that you shall be given whatever you choose
inna lakum fīhi lamā takhayyarūn
68:39 ›
أَمۡ لَكُمۡ أَیۡمَـٰنٌ عَلَیۡنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ إِنَّ لَكُمۡ لَمَا تَحۡكُمُونَ ۝٣٩
M. Farook Malik
Or do you have a sworn covenant - a covenant binding on Us till the Day of Resurrection - that you shall have whatever you demand
am lakum aymānun ʿalaynā bālighatun ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati inna lakum lamā taḥkumūn
68:40 ›
سَلۡهُمۡ أَیُّهُم بِذَ ٰلِكَ زَعِیمٌ ۝٤٠
M. Farook Malik
Ask if any of them will vouch for that
salhum ayyuhum bidhālika zaʿīmu
68:41 ›
أَمۡ لَهُمۡ شُرَكَاۤءُ فَلۡیَأۡتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَاۤىِٕهِمۡ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٤١
M. Farook Malik
Or do they have other gods who could help them against Allah? If so, let them produce their other gods if they are truthful
am lahum shurakāu falyatū bishurakāihim in kānū ṣādiqīn
68:42 ›
یَوۡمَ یُكۡشَفُ عَن سَاقࣲ وَیُدۡعَوۡنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ ۝٤٢
M. Farook Malik
On the Day of Judgment, when the dreadful events shall be unfolded, and they shall be asked to prostrate themselves, they shall not be able to do so
yawma yuk'shafu ʿan sāqin wayud'ʿawna ilā l-sujūdi falā yastaṭīʿūn
68:43 ›
خَـٰشِعَةً أَبۡصَـٰرُهُمۡ تَرۡهَقُهُمۡ ذِلَّةࣱۖ وَقَدۡ كَانُوا۟ یُدۡعَوۡنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمۡ سَـٰلِمُونَ ۝٤٣
M. Farook Malik
They shall stand with eyes downcast, utterly humbled; because during their safe and sound earthly life they were called upon to prostrate themselves but they refused to do so
khāshiʿatan abṣāruhum tarhaquhum dhillatun waqad kānū yud'ʿawna ilā l-sujūdi wahum sālimūn
68:44 ›
فَذَرۡنِی وَمَن یُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِیثِۖ سَنَسۡتَدۡرِجُهُم مِّنۡ حَیۡثُ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٤٤
M. Farook Malik
O Prophet, leave to Me those who reject this revelation. We shall lead them step by step to their ruin, in ways that they cannot perceive
fadharnī waman yukadhibu bihādhā l-ḥadīthi sanastadrijuhum min ḥaythu lā yaʿlamūn
68:45 ›
وَأُمۡلِی لَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ كَیۡدِی مَتِینٌ ۝٤٥
M. Farook Malik
I shall even put up with them for a while; for My plan is fool proof
wa-um'lī lahum inna kaydī matīnu
68:46 ›
أَمۡ تَسۡءَلُهُمۡ أَجۡرࣰا فَهُم مِّن مَّغۡرَمࣲ مُّثۡقَلُونَ ۝٤٦
M. Farook Malik
Or have you, O Prophet, demanded a compensation from them, that they are overburdened with debt
am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muth'qalūn
68:47 ›
أَمۡ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبُ فَهُمۡ یَكۡتُبُونَ ۝٤٧
M. Farook Malik
Or do they have the knowledge of the unseen and they are writing it down
am ʿindahumu l-ghaybu fahum yaktubūn
68:48 ›
فَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلۡحُوتِ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكۡظُومࣱ ۝٤٨
M. Farook Malik
So wait with patience for the Judgment of your Lord and be not like the man of the fish (reference is to the Prophet Jonah who was swallowed by a whale), who cried when he was in distres
fa-iṣ'bir liḥuk'mi rabbika walā takun kaṣāḥibi l-ḥūti idh nādā wahuwa makẓūmu
68:49 ›
لَّوۡلَاۤ أَن تَدَ ٰرَكَهُۥ نِعۡمَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلۡعَرَاۤءِ وَهُوَ مَذۡمُومࣱ ۝٤٩
M. Farook Malik
Had his Lord not bestowed on him His grace, he would certainly have been cast off on the naked shore, while he was condemned
lawlā an tadārakahu niʿ'matun min rabbihi lanubidha bil-ʿarāi wahuwa madhmūmu
68:50 ›
فَٱجۡتَبَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٥٠
M. Farook Malik
But his Lord choose him and included him among the righteous
fa-ij'tabāhu rabbuhu fajaʿalahu mina l-ṣāliḥīn
68:51 ›
وَإِن یَكَادُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَیُزۡلِقُونَكَ بِأَبۡصَـٰرِهِمۡ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَیَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجۡنُونࣱ ۝٥١
M. Farook Malik
The unbelievers would almost trip you up with their eyes when they hear Our revelations (The Qur’an), and say: "He (Muhammad) is surely crazy."
wa-in yakādu alladhīna kafarū layuz'liqūnaka bi-abṣārihim lammā samiʿū l-dhik'ra wayaqūlūna innahu lamajnūnu
68:52 ›
وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرࣱ لِّلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٥٢
M. Farook Malik
This (The Qur’an) is nothing but a Reminder to all the people of the world
wamā huwa illā dhik'run lil'ʿālamīn
