ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ l-malāikatu

نَرَىٰ narā
we see V
رَبَّنَا rabbanā
our Lord Noun
لَقَدِ laqadi
Indeed Prep
ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ is'takbarū
they have become arrogant V
فِىٓ fī
within Prep
أَنفُسِهِمْ anfusihim
themselves Noun
وَعَتَوْ waʿataw
and (become) insolent V
عُتُوًّا ʿutuwwan
(with) insolence Noun
كَبِيرًا kabīran
great Noun

Those who do not fear to meet Us say, ‘Why are the angels not sent down to us?’ or ‘Why can we not see our Lord?’ They are too proud of themselves and too insolent

۞ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَرۡجُونَ لِقَاۤءَنَا لَوۡلَاۤ أُنزِلَ عَلَیۡنَا ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ أَوۡ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَاۗ لَقَدِ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ فِیۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡ وَعَتَوۡ عُتُوࣰّا كَبِیرࣰا ۝٢١

waqāla alladhīna lā yarjūna liqāanā lawlā unzila ʿalaynā l-malāikatu aw narā rabbanā laqadi is'takbarū fī anfusihim waʿataw ʿutuwwan kabīra
