How foul is the image of those who reject Our signs! It is themselves they wrong

سَاۤءَ مَثَلًا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا وَأَنفُسَهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ یَظۡلِمُونَ ۝١٧٧

sāa mathalan l-qawmu alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā wa-anfusahum kānū yaẓlimūn

فَقُلْنَا ٱذْهَبَآ إِلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهُمْ تَدْمِيرًا

faqul'nā idh'habā ilā l-qawmi alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā fadammarnāhum tadmīra

We said, ‘Go, both of you, to the people who have rejected Our signs.’ Later We destroyed those people utterly

وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

wanaṣarnāhu mina l-qawmi alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā innahum kānū qawma sawin fa-aghraqnāhum ajmaʿīn

and We helped him against the people who rejected Our signs- they were evil people, so We drowned them all
