The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:96

وَلَوْ walaw
And if Prep
أَنَّ anna

أَهْلَ ahla

ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ l-qurā
(of) the cities Noun
ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū
(had) believed V
وَٱتَّقَوْا۟ wa-ittaqaw
and feared Allah V
لَفَتَحْنَا lafataḥnā
surely We (would have) opened V
عَلَيْهِم ʿalayhim
upon them Prep
بَرَكَٰتٍ barakātin
blessings Noun
مِّنَ mina
from Prep
ٱلسَّمَآءِ l-samāi
the heaven Noun
وَٱلْأَرْضِ wal-arḍi
and the earth Noun
وَلَٰكِن walākin
but Prep
كَذَّبُوا۟ kadhabū
they denied V
فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم fa-akhadhnāhum
So We seized them V
بِمَا bimā
for what Noun
كَانُوا۟ kānū
they used to V
يَكْسِبُونَ yaksibūna
earn V

If the people of those towns had believed and been mindful of God, We would have showered them with blessings from the heavens and earth, but they rejected the truth and so We punished them for their misdeeds

وَلَوۡ أَنَّ أَهۡلَ ٱلۡقُرَىٰۤ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّقَوۡا۟ لَفَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم بَرَكَـٰتࣲ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبُوا۟ فَأَخَذۡنَـٰهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٩٦

walaw anna ahla l-qurā āmanū wa-ittaqaw lafataḥnā ʿalayhim barakātin mina l-samāi wal-arḍi walākin kadhabū fa-akhadhnāhum bimā kānū yaksibūn
