Joseph 12:23 Noun
وَرَ ٰوَدَتۡهُ ٱلَّتِی هُوَ فِی بَیۡتِهَا عَن نَّفۡسِهِۦ وَغَلَّقَتِ ٱلۡأَبۡوَ ٰبَ وَقَالَتۡ هَیۡتَ لَكَۚ قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ رَبِّیۤ أَحۡسَنَ مَثۡوَایَۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And she, in whose house he was, sought to seduce him. She closed the doors and said, "Come, you." He said, "[I seek] the refuge of Allah . Indeed, he is my master, who has made good my residence. Indeed, wrongdoers will not succeed."
Abdel Haleem: The woman in whose house he was living tried to seduce him: she bolted the doors and said, ‘Come to me,’ and he replied, ‘God forbid! My master has been good to me; wrongdoers never prosper.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And she, in whose house he was, asked of him an evil act. She bolted the doors and said: Come! He said: I seek refuge in Allah! Lo! he is my lord, who hath treated me honourably. Lo! wrong-doers never prosper
Joseph 12:25 Noun
وَٱسۡتَبَقَا ٱلۡبَابَ وَقَدَّتۡ قَمِیصَهُۥ مِن دُبُرࣲ وَأَلۡفَیَا سَیِّدَهَا لَدَا ٱلۡبَابِۚ قَالَتۡ مَا جَزَاۤءُ مَنۡ أَرَادَ بِأَهۡلِكَ سُوۤءًا إِلَّاۤ أَن یُسۡجَنَ أَوۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they both raced to the door, and she tore his shirt from the back, and they found her husband at the door. She said, "What is the recompense of one who intended evil for your wife but that he be imprisoned or a painful punishment?"
Abdel Haleem: They raced for the door- she tore his shirt from behind- and at the door they met her husband. She said, ‘What, other than prison or painful punishment, should be the reward of someone who tried to dishonour your wife?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they raced with one another to the door, and she tore his shirt from behind, and they met her lord and master at the door. She said: What shall be his reward, who wisheth evil to thy folk, save prison or a painful doom
Joseph 12:67 Noun
وَقَالَ یَـٰبَنِیَّ لَا تَدۡخُلُوا۟ مِنۢ بَابࣲ وَ ٰحِدࣲ وَٱدۡخُلُوا۟ مِنۡ أَبۡوَ ٰبࣲ مُّتَفَرِّقَةࣲۖ وَمَاۤ أُغۡنِی عَنكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَیۡءٍۖ إِنِ ٱلۡحُكۡمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِۖ عَلَیۡهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُۖ وَعَلَیۡهِ فَلۡیَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلُونَ ۝٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against [the decree of] Allah at all. The decision is only for Allah ; upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely [indeed] rely."
Abdel Haleem: He said, ‘My sons, do not enter all by one gate- use different gates. But I cannot help you against the will of God: all power is in God’s hands. I trust in Him; let everyone put their trust in Him,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And he said: O my sons! Go not in by one gate; go in by different gates. I can naught avail you as against Allah. Lo! the decision rests with Allah only. In Him do I put my trust, and in Him let all the trusting put their trust
The Thunder 13:23 Noun
جَنَّـٰتُ عَدۡنࣲ یَدۡخُلُونَهَا وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنۡ ءَابَاۤىِٕهِمۡ وَأَزۡوَ ٰجِهِمۡ وَذُرِّیَّـٰتِهِمۡۖ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ یَدۡخُلُونَ عَلَیۡهِم مِّن كُلِّ بَابࣲ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Gardens of perpetual residence; they will enter them with whoever were righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their descendants. And the angels will enter upon them from every gate, [saying]
Abdel Haleem: they will enter perpetual Gardens, along with their righteous ancestors, spouses, and descendants; the angels will go in to them from every gate
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Gardens of Eden which they enter, along with all who do right of their fathers and their helpmeets and their seed. The angels enter unto them from every gate
The Rock, Stoneland, Rock City 15:14 Noun
وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم بَابࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِیهِ یَعۡرُجُونَ ۝١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend
Abdel Haleem: and even if We opened a gateway into Heaven for them and they rose through it, higher and higher
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it
The Rock, Stoneland, Rock City 15:44 Noun
لَهَا سَبۡعَةُ أَبۡوَ ٰبࣲ لِّكُلِّ بَابࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ جُزۡءࣱ مَّقۡسُومٌ ۝٤٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated."
Abdel Haleem: with seven gates, each gate having its allotted share of them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion
The Bee 16:29 Noun
فَٱدۡخُلُوۤا۟ أَبۡوَ ٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۖ فَلَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَى ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِینَ ۝٢٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and how wretched is the residence of the arrogant
Abdel Haleem: so enter the gates of Hell. There you will remain- the home of the arrogant is evil indeed.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So enter the gates of hell, to dwell therein for ever. Woeful indeed will be the lodging of the arrogant
The Believers 23:77 Noun
حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم بَابࣰا ذَا عَذَابࣲ شَدِیدٍ إِذَا هُمۡ فِیهِ مُبۡلِسُونَ ۝٧٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair
Abdel Haleem: until We open a gate to severe torment for them- then they will be plunged into utter despair
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Until, when We open for them the gate of extreme punishment, behold! they are aghast thereat
The Cow 2:189 Noun
۞ یَسۡءَلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡأَهِلَّةِۖ قُلۡ هِیَ مَوَ ٰقِیتُ لِلنَّاسِ وَٱلۡحَجِّۗ وَلَیۡسَ ٱلۡبِرُّ بِأَن تَأۡتُوا۟ ٱلۡبُیُوتَ مِن ظُهُورِهَا وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلۡبِرَّ مَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰۗ وَأۡتُوا۟ ٱلۡبُیُوتَ مِنۡ أَبۡوَ ٰبِهَاۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ ۝١٨٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the new moons. Say, "They are measurements of time for the people and for hajj." And it is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah. And enter houses from their doors. And fear Allah that you may succeed
Abdel Haleem: They ask you [Prophet] about crescent moons. Say, ‘They show the times appointed for people, and for the pilgrimage.’ Goodness does not consist of entering houses by the back [door]; the truly good person is the one who is mindful of God. So enter your houses by their [main] doors and be mindful of God so that you may prosper
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They ask thee, (O Muhammad), of new moons, say: They are fixed seasons for mankind and for the pilgrimage. It is not righteousness that ye go to houses by the backs thereof (as do the idolaters at certain seasons), but the righteous man is he who wardeth off (evil). So go to houses by the gates thereof, and observe your duty to Allah, that ye may be successful
The Cow 2:58 Noun
وَإِذۡ قُلۡنَا ٱدۡخُلُوا۟ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةَ فَكُلُوا۟ مِنۡهَا حَیۡثُ شِئۡتُمۡ رَغَدࣰا وَٱدۡخُلُوا۟ ٱلۡبَابَ سُجَّدࣰا وَقُولُوا۟ حِطَّةࣱ نَّغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ خَطَـٰیَـٰكُمۡۚ وَسَنَزِیدُ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٥٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [recall] when We said, "Enter this city and eat from it wherever you will in [ease and] abundance, and enter the gate bowing humbly and say, 'Relieve us of our burdens.' We will [then] forgive your sins for you, and We will increase the doers of good [in goodness and reward]."
Abdel Haleem: Remember when We said, ‘Enter this town and eat freely there as you will, but enter its gate humbly and say, “Relieve us!” Then We shall forgive you your sins and increase the rewards of those who do good.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when We said: Go into this township and eat freely of that which is therein, and enter the gate prostrate, and say: "Repentance." We will forgive you your sins and will increase (reward) for the right-doers
The Letter Sad 38:50 Noun
جَنَّـٰتِ عَدۡنࣲ مُّفَتَّحَةࣰ لَّهُمُ ٱلۡأَبۡوَ ٰبُ ۝٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be opened to them
Abdel Haleem: Gardens of lasting bliss with gates wide open
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:71 Noun
وَسِیقَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ زُمَرًاۖ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءُوهَا فُتِحَتۡ أَبۡوَ ٰبُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمۡ خَزَنَتُهَاۤ أَلَمۡ یَأۡتِكُمۡ رُسُلࣱ مِّنكُمۡ یَتۡلُونَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّكُمۡ وَیُنذِرُونَكُمۡ لِقَاۤءَ یَوۡمِكُمۡ هَـٰذَاۚ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَلَـٰكِنۡ حَقَّتۡ كَلِمَةُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٧١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say, "Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "Yes, but the word of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers
Abdel Haleem: Those who rejected the Truth will be led to Hell in their throngs. When they arrive, its gates will open and its keepers will say to them, ‘Were you not sent your own messengers to recite the revelations of your Lord to you and warn you that you would meet this Day?’ and they will say, ‘Yes indeed we were.’ But the sentence of punishment will have been passed against those who rejected the truth
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And those who disbelieve are driven unto hell in troops till, when they reach it and the gates thereof are opened, and the warders thereof say unto them: Came there not unto you messengers of your own, reciting unto you the revelations of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this your Day? they say: Yea, verily. But the word of doom of disbelievers is fulfilled
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:72 Noun
قِیلَ ٱدۡخُلُوۤا۟ أَبۡوَ ٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَى ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِینَ ۝٧٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [To them] it will be said, "Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant."
Abdel Haleem: It will be said, ‘Enter the gates of Hell: there you will remain. How evil is the abode of the arrogant!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: It is said (unto them): Enter ye the gates of hell to dwell therein. Thus hapless is the journey's end of the scorners
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:73 Noun
وَسِیقَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّقَوۡا۟ رَبَّهُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡجَنَّةِ زُمَرًاۖ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءُوهَا وَفُتِحَتۡ أَبۡوَ ٰبُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمۡ خَزَنَتُهَا سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَیۡكُمۡ طِبۡتُمۡ فَٱدۡخُلُوهَا خَـٰلِدِینَ ۝٧٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups until, when they reach it while its gates have been opened and its keepers say, "Peace be upon you; you have become pure; so enter it to abide eternally therein," [they will enter]
Abdel Haleem: Those who were mindful of their Lord will be led in throngs to the Garden. When they arrive, they will find its gates wide open, and its keepers will say to them, ‘Peace be upon you. You have been good. Come in: you are here to stay,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And those who keep their duty to their Lord are driven unto the Garden in troops till, when they reach it, and the gates thereof are opened, and the warders thereof say unto them: Peace be unto you! Ye are good, so enter ye (the Garden of delight), to dwell therein
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:76 Noun
ٱدۡخُلُوۤا۟ أَبۡوَ ٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَى ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِینَ ۝٧٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant."
Abdel Haleem: Enter the gates of Hell, there to remain- an evil home for the arrogant.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Enter ye the gates of hell, to dwell therein. Evil is the habitation of the scornful
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:34 Noun
وَلِبُیُوتِهِمۡ أَبۡوَ ٰبࣰا وَسُرُرًا عَلَیۡهَا یَتَّكِءُونَ ۝٣٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And for their houses - doors and couches [of silver] upon which to reclin
Abdel Haleem: massive gates, couches to sit on
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And for their houses doors (of silver) and couches of silver whereon to recline
Women 4:154 Noun
وَرَفَعۡنَا فَوۡقَهُمُ ٱلطُّورَ بِمِیثَـٰقِهِمۡ وَقُلۡنَا لَهُمُ ٱدۡخُلُوا۟ ٱلۡبَابَ سُجَّدࣰا وَقُلۡنَا لَهُمۡ لَا تَعۡدُوا۟ فِی ٱلسَّبۡتِ وَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُم مِّیثَـٰقًا غَلِیظࣰا ۝١٥٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We raised over them the mount for [refusal of] their covenant; and We said to them, "Enter the gate bowing humbly", and We said to them, "Do not transgress on the sabbath", and We took from them a solemn covenant
Abdel Haleem: We made the mountain tower high above them at their pledge; We said to them, ‘Enter the gate humbly,’ and, ‘Do not break the Sabbath,’ and took a solemn pledge from them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We caused the Mount to tower above them at (the taking of) their covenant: and We bade them: Enter the gate, prostrate! and We bode them: Transgress not the Sabbath! and We took from them a firm covenant
The Moon 54:11 Noun
فَفَتَحۡنَاۤ أَبۡوَ ٰبَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ بِمَاۤءࣲ مُّنۡهَمِرࣲ ۝١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring dow
Abdel Haleem: So We opened the gates of the sky with torrential water
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring wate
The Iron 57:13 Noun
یَوۡمَ یَقُولُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتُ لِلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱنظُرُونَا نَقۡتَبِسۡ مِن نُّورِكُمۡ قِیلَ ٱرۡجِعُوا۟ وَرَاۤءَكُمۡ فَٱلۡتَمِسُوا۟ نُورࣰاۖ فَضُرِبَ بَیۡنَهُم بِسُورࣲ لَّهُۥ بَابُۢ بَاطِنُهُۥ فِیهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَةُ وَظَـٰهِرُهُۥ مِن قِبَلِهِ ٱلۡعَذَابُ ۝١٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment
Abdel Haleem: On the same Day, the hypocrites, both men and women, will say to the believers, ‘Wait for us! Let us have some of your light!’ They will be told, ‘Go back and look for a light.’ A wall with a door will be erected between them: inside it lies mercy, outside lies torment
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: On the day when the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women will say unto those who believe: Look on us that we may borrow from your light! it will be said: Go back and seek for light! Then there will separate them a wall wherein is a gate, the inner side whereof containeth mercy, while the outer side thereof is toward the doom
The Table, The Table Spread 5:23 Noun
قَالَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ یَخَافُونَ أَنۡعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیۡهِمَا ٱدۡخُلُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡبَابَ فَإِذَا دَخَلۡتُمُوهُ فَإِنَّكُمۡ غَـٰلِبُونَۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَتَوَكَّلُوۤا۟ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Said two men from those who feared [to disobey] upon whom Allah had bestowed favor, "Enter upon them through the gate, for when you have entered it, you will be predominant. And upon Allah rely, if you should be believers."
Abdel Haleem: Yet two men whom God had blessed among those who were afraid said, ‘Go in to them through the gate and when you go in you will overcome them. If you are true believers, put your trust in God.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then out spake two of those who feared (their Lord, men) unto whom Allah had been gracious: Enter in upon them by the gate, for if ye enter by it, lo! ye will be victorious. So put your trust (in Allah) if ye are indeed believers
Cattle, Livestock 6:44 Noun
فَلَمَّا نَسُوا۟ مَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ أَبۡوَ ٰبَ كُلِّ شَیۡءٍ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَاۤ أُوتُوۤا۟ أَخَذۡنَـٰهُم بَغۡتَةࣰ فَإِذَا هُم مُّبۡلِسُونَ ۝٤٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair
Abdel Haleem: So, when they had forgotten the warning they had received, We opened the gates to everything for them. Then, as they revelled in what they had been given, We struck them suddenly and they were dumbfounded
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then, when they forgot that whereof they had been reminded, We opened unto them the gates of all things till, even as they were rejoicing in that which they were given, We seized them unawares, and lo! they were dumbfounded
The Tidings, The Announcement 78:19 Noun
وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَابًا
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And the heaven is opened and will become gateway
Abdel Haleem: when the sky will open up like wide portals
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:161 Noun
وَإِذۡ قِیلَ لَهُمُ ٱسۡكُنُوا۟ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةَ وَكُلُوا۟ مِنۡهَا حَیۡثُ شِئۡتُمۡ وَقُولُوا۟ حِطَّةࣱ وَٱدۡخُلُوا۟ ٱلۡبَابَ سُجَّدࣰا نَّغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ خَطِیۤءَـٰتِكُمۡۚ سَنَزِیدُ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٦١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [mention, O Muhammad], when it was said to them, "Dwell in this city and eat from it wherever you will and say, 'Relieve us of our burdens,' and enter the gate bowing humbly; We will [then] forgive you your sins. We will increase the doers of good [in goodness and reward]."
Abdel Haleem: When they were told, ‘Enter this town and eat freely there as you will, but say, “Relieve us!” and enter its gate humbly: then We shall forgive you your sins, and increase the reward of those who do good,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when it was said unto them: Dwell in this township and eat therefrom whence ye will, and say "Repentance," and enter the gate prostrate; We shall forgive you your sins; We shall increase (reward) for the right-doers
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:40 Noun
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ عَنۡهَا لَا تُفَتَّحُ لَهُمۡ أَبۡوَ ٰبُ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَلَا یَدۡخُلُونَ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ حَتَّىٰ یَلِجَ ٱلۡجَمَلُ فِی سَمِّ ٱلۡخِیَاطِۚ وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٤٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, those who deny Our verses and are arrogant toward them - the gates of Heaven will not be opened for them, nor will they enter Paradise until a camel enters into the eye of a needle. And thus do We recompense the criminals
Abdel Haleem: The gates of Heaven will not be open to those who rejected Our revelations and arrogantly spurned them; even if a thick rope were to pass through the eye of a needle they would not enter the Garden. This is how We punish the guilty
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! they who deny Our revelations and scorn them, for them the gates of heaven will nor be opened not will they enter the Garden until the camel goeth through the needle's eye. Thus do We requite the guilty
