أَلَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن قَرۡنࣲ مَّكَّنَّـٰهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَا لَمۡ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمۡ وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ عَلَیۡهِم مِّدۡرَارࣰا وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرَ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهِمۡ فَأَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَأَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قَرۡنًا ءَاخَرِینَ ۝٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Do they not see how many generations before them We destroyed? We established them on the earth more securely than We strengthened you. We blessed them with abundant rain from the sky. We provided streams flowing beneath them. Yet, because of their sins, We destroyed them and succeeded them with new generations.

alam yaraw kam ahlaknā min qablihim min qarnin makkannāhum fī l-arḍi mā lam numakkin lakum wa-arsalnā l-samāa ʿalayhim mid'rāran wajaʿalnā l-anhāra tajrī min taḥtihim fa-ahlaknāhum bidhunūbihim wa-anshanā min baʿdihim qarnan ākharīn

6:7

وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَیۡكَ كِتَـٰبࣰا فِی قِرۡطَاسࣲ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَیۡدِیهِمۡ لَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

Even if We had sent to you [Prophet Muhammed] writing on paper so that they could touch it with their own hands, the unbelievers would have said, “This is nothing but sheer magic.”

walaw nazzalnā ʿalayka kitāban fī qir'ṭāsin falamasūhu bi-aydīhim laqāla alladhīna kafarū in hādhā illā siḥ'run mubīnu

6:8

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوۡلَاۤ أُنزِلَ عَلَیۡهِ مَلَكࣱۖ وَلَوۡ أَنزَلۡنَا مَلَكࣰا لَّقُضِیَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ ثُمَّ لَا یُنظَرُونَ ۝٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

They also say, “Why does an angel not come down to him?” If We had sent an angel, the matter would be decided, and they would not have been allowed any more time [for repentance].

waqālū lawlā unzila ʿalayhi malakun walaw anzalnā malakan laquḍiya l-amru thumma lā yunẓarūn

6:9

وَلَوۡ جَعَلۡنَـٰهُ مَلَكࣰا لَّجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ رَجُلࣰا وَلَلَبَسۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم مَّا یَلۡبِسُونَ ۝٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Even if We had made an angel, We would certainly have made him as a man. We would only have confused them in the same way they are now confused.

walaw jaʿalnāhu malakan lajaʿalnāhu rajulan walalabasnā ʿalayhim mā yalbisūn

6:10

وَلَقَدِ ٱسۡتُهۡزِئَ بِرُسُلࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِینَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝١٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

Certainly, messengers before you were mocked. Their scoffers were overwhelmed by that which they mocked.

walaqadi us'tuh'zi-a birusulin min qablika faḥāqa bi-alladhīna sakhirū min'hum mā kānū bihi yastahziūn

6:11

قُلۡ سِیرُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ثُمَّ ٱنظُرُوا۟ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝١١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Travel across the land and see what happened to those who would not believe.”

qul sīrū fī l-arḍi thumma unẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mukadhibīn

6:12

قُل لِّمَن مَّا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ قُل لِّلَّهِۚ كَتَبَ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَةَۚ لَیَجۡمَعَنَّكُمۡ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ لَا رَیۡبَ فِیهِۚ ٱلَّذِینَ خَسِرُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “To whom belongs all that is of the skies and earth?” Say, “To Allah! He has ordained mercy for Himself. He will assemble you for the Day of Resurrection. No doubt about it! Those who won’t believe have lost their own souls.

qul liman mā fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi qul lillahi kataba ʿalā nafsihi l-raḥmata layajmaʿannakum ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati lā rayba fīhi alladhīna khasirū anfusahum fahum lā yu'minūn

6:13

۞ وَلَهُۥ مَا سَكَنَ فِی ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝١٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

“To Him belongs all that dwells during the night and day. He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.”

walahu mā sakana fī al-layli wal-nahāri wahuwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

6:14

قُلۡ أَغَیۡرَ ٱللَّهِ أَتَّخِذُ وَلِیࣰّا فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَهُوَ یُطۡعِمُ وَلَا یُطۡعَمُۗ قُلۡ إِنِّیۤ أُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنۡ أَسۡلَمَۖ وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝١٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Should I choose for a guardian someone besides Allah, maker of Heaven and Earth? He feeds but is not fed.” Say, “Truly, I am commanded to be the first to submit and not be among the idolaters.”

qul aghayra l-lahi attakhidhu waliyyan fāṭiri l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wahuwa yuṭ'ʿimu walā yuṭ'ʿamu qul innī umir'tu an akūna awwala man aslama walā takūnanna mina l-mush'rikīn

6:15

قُلۡ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ إِنۡ عَصَیۡتُ رَبِّی عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Truly, I would be afraid to disobey my Lord because of the punishment of a mighty day.

qul innī akhāfu in ʿaṣaytu rabbī ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmi

6:16

مَّن یُصۡرَفۡ عَنۡهُ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ فَقَدۡ رَحِمَهُۥۚ وَذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Whoever is saved that day certainly has (Allah’s) mercy upon him. That is true success.

man yuṣ'raf ʿanhu yawma-idhin faqad raḥimahu wadhālika l-fawzu l-mubīn

6:17

وَإِن یَمۡسَسۡكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرࣲّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥۤ إِلَّا هُوَۖ وَإِن یَمۡسَسۡكَ بِخَیۡرࣲ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدِیرࣱ ۝١٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

“If Allah touches you with affliction, no one can remove it except Him. If He touches you with blessings, He is the Most Capable over everything.

wa-in yamsaska l-lahu biḍurrin falā kāshifa lahu illā huwa wa-in yamsaska bikhayrin fahuwa ʿalā kulli shayin qadīru

6:18

وَهُوَ ٱلۡقَاهِرُ فَوۡقَ عِبَادِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ٱلۡخَبِیرُ ۝١٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

“He is the Most Capable over His servants. He is the Perfectly Wise, the All-aware.”

wahuwa l-qāhiru fawqa ʿibādihi wahuwa l-ḥakīmu l-khabīr

6:19

قُلۡ أَیُّ شَیۡءٍ أَكۡبَرُ شَهَـٰدَةࣰۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُۖ شَهِیدُۢ بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَكُمۡۚ وَأُوحِیَ إِلَیَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِۦ وَمَنۢ بَلَغَۚ أَىِٕنَّكُمۡ لَتَشۡهَدُونَ أَنَّ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً أُخۡرَىٰۚ قُل لَّاۤ أَشۡهَدُۚ قُلۡ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـٰهࣱ وَ ٰحِدࣱ وَإِنَّنِی بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “What has the most weight in evidence?” Say, “Allah is the Witness between me and you. This Qur’an has been revealed to me so I may warn you and whoever else it reaches. Can you truly testify that there are gods besides God?” Say, “No, I do not testify.” Say, “Only He is the One God, and I am truly innocent of your idolatry.”

qul ayyu shayin akbaru shahādatan quli l-lahu shahīdun baynī wabaynakum waūḥiya ilayya hādhā l-qur'ānu li-undhirakum bihi waman balagha a-innakum latashhadūna anna maʿa l-lahi ālihatan ukh'rā qul lā ashhadu qul innamā huwa ilāhun wāḥidun wa-innanī barīon mimmā tush'rikūn

6:20

ٱلَّذِینَ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ یَعۡرِفُونَهُۥ كَمَا یَعۡرِفُونَ أَبۡنَاۤءَهُمُۘ ٱلَّذِینَ خَسِرُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٢٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

Those to whom We have given the (previous Scriptures) recognize him as they recognize their own sons. Those who lost their own souls are the unbelievers.

alladhīna ātaynāhumu l-kitāba yaʿrifūnahu kamā yaʿrifūna abnāahumu alladhīna khasirū anfusahum fahum lā yu'minūn

6:21

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوۡ كَذَّبَ بِءَایَـٰتِهِۦۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝٢١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Who is more sinful than the one who invents a lie against Allah or rejects His signs? Truly, the sinners will never prosper.

waman aẓlamu mimmani if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban aw kadhaba biāyātihi innahu lā yuf'liḥu l-ẓālimūn

6:22

وَیَوۡمَ نَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِیعࣰا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوۤا۟ أَیۡنَ شُرَكَاۤؤُكُمُ ٱلَّذِینَ كُنتُمۡ تَزۡعُمُونَ ۝٢٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

One day, We will assemble them. We will say to those who committed idolatry, “Where are those false gods you used to claim?”

wayawma naḥshuruhum jamīʿan thumma naqūlu lilladhīna ashrakū ayna shurakāukumu alladhīna kuntum tazʿumūn

6:23

ثُمَّ لَمۡ تَكُن فِتۡنَتُهُمۡ إِلَّاۤ أَن قَالُوا۟ وَٱللَّهِ رَبِّنَا مَا كُنَّا مُشۡرِكِینَ ۝٢٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

No plea will they have except to claim, “By Allah, our Lord, we were not idolaters.”

thumma lam takun fit'natuhum illā an qālū wal-lahi rabbinā mā kunnā mush'rikīn

6:24

ٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡۚ وَضَلَّ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝٢٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Look at how they have deceived themselves and how their inventions have forsaken them.

unẓur kayfa kadhabū ʿalā anfusihim waḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūn

6:25

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن یَسۡتَمِعُ إِلَیۡكَۖ وَجَعَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ أَكِنَّةً أَن یَفۡقَهُوهُ وَفِیۤ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَقۡرࣰاۚ وَإِن یَرَوۡا۟ كُلَّ ءَایَةࣲ لَّا یُؤۡمِنُوا۟ بِهَاۖ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءُوكَ یُجَـٰدِلُونَكَ یَقُولُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّاۤ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٢٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Of such people, some listen to you, but We have covered their hearts with veils. In this way, they do not understand because of the [spiritual] deafness in their ears. If they saw every one of Our signs, they would not believe in them. [They would disbelieve] to such extent that, when they approach you, they just want to argue. The unbelievers claim, “These [signs] are nothing but tales of the ancients.”

wamin'hum man yastamiʿu ilayka wajaʿalnā ʿalā qulūbihim akinnatan an yafqahūhu wafī ādhānihim waqran wa-in yaraw kulla āyatin lā yu'minū bihā ḥattā idhā jāūka yujādilūnaka yaqūlu alladhīna kafarū in hādhā illā asāṭīru l-awalīn

6:26

وَهُمۡ یَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنۡهُ وَیَنۡءَوۡنَ عَنۡهُۖ وَإِن یُهۡلِكُونَ إِلَّاۤ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَمَا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٢٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

They hinder others from (the message) as they keep away from it themselves. They only destroy their own souls, and they don’t even realize it.

wahum yanhawna ʿanhu wayanawna ʿanhu wa-in yuh'likūna illā anfusahum wamā yashʿurūn

6:27

وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰۤ إِذۡ وُقِفُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ فَقَالُوا۟ یَـٰلَیۡتَنَا نُرَدُّ وَلَا نُكَذِّبَ بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّنَا وَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

If only you could see when they are assembled before the fire! They will say, “Oh, if only we would be returned [to the earthly life], we would not deny our Lord’s signs. We would be among the believers.”

walaw tarā idh wuqifū ʿalā l-nāri faqālū yālaytanā nuraddu walā nukadhiba biāyāti rabbinā wanakūna mina l-mu'minīn

6:28

بَلۡ بَدَا لَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُخۡفُونَ مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَلَوۡ رُدُّوا۟ لَعَادُوا۟ لِمَا نُهُوا۟ عَنۡهُ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝٢٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

Nonsense! What they concealed will become manifest before them. If they were returned, they would certainly go back to sinfulness. They certainly are liars.

bal badā lahum mā kānū yukh'fūna min qablu walaw ruddū laʿādū limā nuhū ʿanhu wa-innahum lakādhibūn

6:29

وَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنۡ هِیَ إِلَّا حَیَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَبۡعُوثِینَ ۝٢٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Some say, “Nothing is beyond our life in this world. We will not be raised from the dead.”

waqālū in hiya illā ḥayātunā l-dun'yā wamā naḥnu bimabʿūthīn

6:30

وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰۤ إِذۡ وُقِفُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡۚ قَالَ أَلَیۡسَ هَـٰذَا بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّنَاۚ قَالَ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٣٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

If you could only see when they will be made to stand before their Lord! He will say, “Is this not true?” They will answer, “Yes, by our Lord.” He will say, “Taste the punishment because you rejected faith.”

walaw tarā idh wuqifū ʿalā rabbihim qāla alaysa hādhā bil-ḥaqi qālū balā warabbinā qāla fadhūqū l-ʿadhāba bimā kuntum takfurūn

6:31

قَدۡ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَاۤءِ ٱللَّهِۖ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءَتۡهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغۡتَةࣰ قَالُوا۟ یَـٰحَسۡرَتَنَا عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطۡنَا فِیهَا وَهُمۡ یَحۡمِلُونَ أَوۡزَارَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِمۡۚ أَلَا سَاۤءَ مَا یَزِرُونَ ۝٣١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Lost indeed are those who disregard the fact that they must meet Allah. Suddenly the hour [of judgment] will be upon them. They will say, “Oh, disaster is upon us because we did not give serious thought.” The weights of their sins are borne on their backs. What a miserable burden!

qad khasira alladhīna kadhabū biliqāi l-lahi ḥattā idhā jāathumu l-sāʿatu baghtatan qālū yāḥasratanā ʿalā mā farraṭnā fīhā wahum yaḥmilūna awzārahum ʿalā ẓuhūrihim alā sāa mā yazirūn

6:32

وَمَا ٱلۡحَیَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۤ إِلَّا لَعِبࣱ وَلَهۡوࣱۖ وَلَلدَّارُ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةُ خَیۡرࣱ لِّلَّذِینَ یَتَّقُونَۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٣٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

The life of this world is merely entertainment and amusement. Better yet is the home of the hereafter for those who live righteously. Don’t you understand?

wamā l-ḥayatu l-dun'yā illā laʿibun walahwun walalddāru l-ākhiratu khayrun lilladhīna yattaqūna afalā taʿqilūn

6:33

قَدۡ نَعۡلَمُ إِنَّهُۥ لَیَحۡزُنُكَ ٱلَّذِی یَقُولُونَۖ فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَا یُكَذِّبُونَكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ یَجۡحَدُونَ ۝٣٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

We certainly realize that what they say hurts your feelings. Indeed, they do not reject you, but the unbelievers reject the verses of Allah.

qad naʿlamu innahu layaḥzunuka alladhī yaqūlūna fa-innahum lā yukadhibūnaka walākinna l-ẓālimīna biāyāti l-lahi yajḥadūn

6:34

وَلَقَدۡ كُذِّبَتۡ رُسُلࣱ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَصَبَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا كُذِّبُوا۟ وَأُوذُوا۟ حَتَّىٰۤ أَتَىٰهُمۡ نَصۡرُنَاۚ وَلَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَلَقَدۡ جَاۤءَكَ مِن نَّبَإِی۟ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٣٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Honestly, messengers before you were rejected. They patiently endured rejection and persecution. Finally, Our help came to them. No one can alter the words of Allah. Truly, you have already received some accounts of those messengers.

walaqad kudhibat rusulun min qablika faṣabarū ʿalā mā kudhibū waūdhū ḥattā atāhum naṣrunā walā mubaddila likalimāti l-lahi walaqad jāaka min naba-i l-mur'salīn

6:35

وَإِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَیۡكَ إِعۡرَاضُهُمۡ فَإِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتَ أَن تَبۡتَغِیَ نَفَقࣰا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَوۡ سُلَّمࣰا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَتَأۡتِیَهُم بِءَایَةࣲۚ وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَمَعَهُمۡ عَلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰۚ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلِینَ ۝٣٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

If their rejection becomes too unbearable, perhaps you would seek a tunnel in the earth or a ladder to the sky to bring them a sign. If Allah had so willed, He could have brought them to guidance. Do not be among the ignorant.

wa-in kāna kabura ʿalayka iʿ'rāḍuhum fa-ini is'taṭaʿta an tabtaghiya nafaqan fī l-arḍi aw sullaman fī l-samāi fatatiyahum biāyatin walaw shāa l-lahu lajamaʿahum ʿalā l-hudā falā takūnanna mina l-jāhilīn

6:36

۞ إِنَّمَا یَسۡتَجِیبُ ٱلَّذِینَ یَسۡمَعُونَۘ وَٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ یَبۡعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ثُمَّ إِلَیۡهِ یُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٣٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Only those who listen will accept. Allah will raise the dead, and they will return to Him.

innamā yastajību alladhīna yasmaʿūna wal-mawtā yabʿathuhumu l-lahu thumma ilayhi yur'jaʿūn

6:37

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۚ قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰۤ أَن یُنَزِّلَ ءَایَةࣰ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

They say, “Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?” Say, “Allah certainly is Most Capable to send a sign. Most of them do not understand.”

waqālū lawlā nuzzila ʿalayhi āyatun min rabbihi qul inna l-laha qādirun ʿalā an yunazzila āyatan walākinna aktharahum lā yaʿlamūn

6:38

وَمَا مِن دَاۤبَّةࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا طَـٰۤىِٕرࣲ یَطِیرُ بِجَنَاحَیۡهِ إِلَّاۤ أُمَمٌ أَمۡثَالُكُمۚ مَّا فَرَّطۡنَا فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ مِن شَیۡءࣲۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ یُحۡشَرُونَ ۝٣٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

There is not a creature on the earth, not even a being that flies on wings, that is not part of a community, just like you [humanity]. We have omitted nothing from the Book. They all shall be assembled before their Lord.

wamā min dābbatin fī l-arḍi walā ṭāirin yaṭīru bijanāḥayhi illā umamun amthālukum mā farraṭnā fī l-kitābi min shayin thumma ilā rabbihim yuḥ'sharūn

6:39

وَٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا صُمࣱّ وَبُكۡمࣱ فِی ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِۗ مَن یَشَإِ ٱللَّهُ یُضۡلِلۡهُ وَمَن یَشَأۡ یَجۡعَلۡهُ عَلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٣٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Those who reject our signs cannot hear or speak and are in the dark. Allah leaves whom He will to wander. He places whom He will on the Straight Way.

wa-alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā ṣummun wabuk'mun fī l-ẓulumāti man yasha-i l-lahu yuḍ'lil'hu waman yasha yajʿalhu ʿalā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi

6:40

قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتَكُمۡ إِنۡ أَتَىٰكُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡ أَتَتۡكُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَغَیۡرَ ٱللَّهِ تَدۡعُونَ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٤٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Do you think that, if the wrath of Allah or the hour [of judgment] suddenly came upon you, you would call on anybody other than Allah, if you are honest?

qul ara-aytakum in atākum ʿadhābu l-lahi aw atatkumu l-sāʿatu aghayra l-lahi tadʿūna in kuntum ṣādiqīn

6:41

بَلۡ إِیَّاهُ تَدۡعُونَ فَیَكۡشِفُ مَا تَدۡعُونَ إِلَیۡهِ إِن شَاۤءَ وَتَنسَوۡنَ مَا تُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٤١

Linda "iLham" Barto

“No, you would call on Him alone, and He would remove your misery if it would be His will. You would forget the partners you ascribe to Him.”

bal iyyāhu tadʿūna fayakshifu mā tadʿūna ilayhi in shāa watansawna mā tush'rikūn

6:42

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰۤ أُمَمࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَأَخَذۡنَـٰهُم بِٱلۡبَأۡسَاۤءِ وَٱلضَّرَّاۤءِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَضَرَّعُونَ ۝٤٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Before you [Prophet Muhammed], We sent [messengers] to many nations. We afflicted the nations with suffering and adversity in order that they may learn humility.

walaqad arsalnā ilā umamin min qablika fa-akhadhnāhum bil-basāi wal-ḍarāi laʿallahum yataḍarraʿūn

6:43

فَلَوۡلَاۤ إِذۡ جَاۤءَهُم بَأۡسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوا۟ وَلَـٰكِن قَسَتۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ وَزَیَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٤٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

When they received affliction from Us, why did they not learn humility? On the contrary, their hearts became hard, and Satan made their deeds appealing to them.

falawlā idh jāahum basunā taḍarraʿū walākin qasat qulūbuhum wazayyana lahumu l-shayṭānu mā kānū yaʿmalūn

6:44

فَلَمَّا نَسُوا۟ مَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ أَبۡوَ ٰبَ كُلِّ شَیۡءٍ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَاۤ أُوتُوۤا۟ أَخَذۡنَـٰهُم بَغۡتَةࣰ فَإِذَا هُم مُّبۡلِسُونَ ۝٤٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

When they forgot the warning they had received, We opened to them the bounty of blessings. In the midst of their enjoyment of their gifts, We suddenly called them to account. They were plunged into despair.

falammā nasū mā dhukkirū bihi fataḥnā ʿalayhim abwāba kulli shayin ḥattā idhā fariḥū bimā ūtū akhadhnāhum baghtatan fa-idhā hum mub'lisūn

6:45

فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ۚ وَٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٤٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Of the sinners, the last remnant was cut off. Praise Allah, Lord of the Worlds!

faquṭiʿa dābiru l-qawmi alladhīna ẓalamū wal-ḥamdu lillahi rabbi l-ʿālamīn

6:46

قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتُمۡ إِنۡ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ سَمۡعَكُمۡ وَأَبۡصَـٰرَكُمۡ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُم مَّنۡ إِلَـٰهٌ غَیۡرُ ٱللَّهِ یَأۡتِیكُم بِهِۗ ٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ ثُمَّ هُمۡ یَصۡدِفُونَ ۝٤٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Do you think that, if Allah removed your hearing and sight and sealed your hearts, a god other than Allah could restore them?” See the various ways We explain the signs; yet they turn aside.

qul ara-aytum in akhadha l-lahu samʿakum wa-abṣārakum wakhatama ʿalā qulūbikum man ilāhun ghayru l-lahi yatīkum bihi unẓur kayfa nuṣarrifu l-āyāti thumma hum yaṣdifūn

6:47

قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتَكُمۡ إِنۡ أَتَىٰكُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ بَغۡتَةً أَوۡ جَهۡرَةً هَلۡ یُهۡلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝٤٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Do you think that, if the punishment of Allah came to you suddenly or by announcement, would any be destroyed besides the sinners?”

qul ara-aytakum in atākum ʿadhābu l-lahi baghtatan aw jahratan hal yuh'laku illā l-qawmu l-ẓālimūn

6:48

وَمَا نُرۡسِلُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرِینَ وَمُنذِرِینَۖ فَمَنۡ ءَامَنَ وَأَصۡلَحَ فَلَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یَحۡزَنُونَ ۝٤٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

We send messengers only to proclaim the good news and to warn. Those who believe and change shall have no fear or grief upon them.

wamā nur'silu l-mur'salīna illā mubashirīna wamundhirīna faman āmana wa-aṣlaḥa falā khawfun ʿalayhim walā hum yaḥzanūn

6:49

وَٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا یَمَسُّهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡسُقُونَ ۝٤٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Those who reject Our signs shall be punished because they wouldn’t stop sinning.

wa-alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā yamassuhumu l-ʿadhābu bimā kānū yafsuqūn

6:50

قُل لَّاۤ أَقُولُ لَكُمۡ عِندِی خَزَاۤىِٕنُ ٱللَّهِ وَلَاۤ أَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبَ وَلَاۤ أَقُولُ لَكُمۡ إِنِّی مَلَكٌۖ إِنۡ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیَّۚ قُلۡ هَلۡ یَسۡتَوِی ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ وَٱلۡبَصِیرُۚ أَفَلَا تَتَفَكَّرُونَ ۝٥٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

[Prophet Muhammed,] say, “I do not say that the treasures of Allah are with me, or that I know what is hidden. I do not say that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me.” Say, “Can the unseeing be considered equal to the seeing? Will you then not consider?”

qul lā aqūlu lakum ʿindī khazāinu l-lahi walā aʿlamu l-ghayba walā aqūlu lakum innī malakun in attabiʿu illā mā yūḥā ilayya qul hal yastawī l-aʿmā wal-baṣīru afalā tatafakkarūn

6:51

وَأَنذِرۡ بِهِ ٱلَّذِینَ یَخَافُونَ أَن یُحۡشَرُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ لَیۡسَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ وَلِیࣱّ وَلَا شَفِیعࣱ لَّعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَّقُونَ ۝٥١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Give this warning to those who fear that they will be assembled before their Lord: Except for Him, they will have no protector or intercessor. Perhaps they may become righteous.

wa-andhir bihi alladhīna yakhāfūna an yuḥ'sharū ilā rabbihim laysa lahum min dūnihi waliyyun walā shafīʿun laʿallahum yattaqūn

6:52

وَلَا تَطۡرُدِ ٱلَّذِینَ یَدۡعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلۡغَدَوٰةِ وَٱلۡعَشِیِّ یُرِیدُونَ وَجۡهَهُۥۖ مَا عَلَیۡكَ مِنۡ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَیۡءࣲ وَمَا مِنۡ حِسَابِكَ عَلَیۡهِم مِّن شَیۡءࣲ فَتَطۡرُدَهُمۡ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٥٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Do not reject those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face. You are not accountable for them, and they are not accountable for you. If you reject them, you are unjust.

walā taṭrudi alladhīna yadʿūna rabbahum bil-ghadati wal-ʿashiyi yurīdūna wajhahu mā ʿalayka min ḥisābihim min shayin wamā min ḥisābika ʿalayhim min shayin fataṭrudahum fatakūna mina l-ẓālimīn

6:53

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ فَتَنَّا بَعۡضَهُم بِبَعۡضࣲ لِّیَقُولُوۤا۟ أَهَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیۡهِم مِّنۢ بَیۡنِنَاۤۗ أَلَیۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَعۡلَمَ بِٱلشَّـٰكِرِینَ ۝٥٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

We tested some of them by [the conditions of] others, so they might say, “Among us, are these favored by Allah?” Doesn’t Allah know best who are grateful?

wakadhālika fatannā baʿḍahum bibaʿḍin liyaqūlū ahāulāi manna l-lahu ʿalayhim min bayninā alaysa l-lahu bi-aʿlama bil-shākirīn

6:54

وَإِذَا جَاۤءَكَ ٱلَّذِینَ یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا فَقُلۡ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَیۡكُمۡۖ كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمۡ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَةَ أَنَّهُۥ مَنۡ عَمِلَ مِنكُمۡ سُوۤءَۢا بِجَهَـٰلَةࣲ ثُمَّ تَابَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ وَأَصۡلَحَ فَأَنَّهُۥ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝٥٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

When believers in Our signs come to you, say, “Peace to you! Your Lord has inscribed His mercy. If any of you committed evil in ignorance, and then repented and made amends, He is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

wa-idhā jāaka alladhīna yu'minūna biāyātinā faqul salāmun ʿalaykum kataba rabbukum ʿalā nafsihi l-raḥmata annahu man ʿamila minkum sūan bijahālatin thumma tāba min baʿdihi wa-aṣlaḥa fa-annahu ghafūrun raḥīmu

6:55

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ وَلِتَسۡتَبِینَ سَبِیلُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٥٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Thus do We explain the signs in detail, so that the way of sinners is exposed.

wakadhālika nufaṣṣilu l-āyāti walitastabīna sabīlu l-muj'rimīn

6:56

قُلۡ إِنِّی نُهِیتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱلَّذِینَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۚ قُل لَّاۤ أَتَّبِعُ أَهۡوَاۤءَكُمۡ قَدۡ ضَلَلۡتُ إِذࣰا وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلۡمُهۡتَدِینَ ۝٥٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “I am forbidden to worship those you worship instead of Allah.” Say, “I will not follow your perverse views or I would be astray. I would not be among the rightly guided.”

qul innī nuhītu an aʿbuda alladhīna tadʿūna min dūni l-lahi qul lā attabiʿu ahwāakum qad ḍalaltu idhan wamā anā mina l-muh'tadīn

6:57

قُلۡ إِنِّی عَلَىٰ بَیِّنَةࣲ مِّن رَّبِّی وَكَذَّبۡتُم بِهِۦۚ مَا عِندِی مَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ بِهِۦۤۚ إِنِ ٱلۡحُكۡمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِۖ یَقُصُّ ٱلۡحَقَّۖ وَهُوَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡفَـٰصِلِینَ ۝٥٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “I truly have plain evidence from my Lord, but you reject it. What you want hastened is not within my power. The command is with Allah alone. He declares the truth. He is best to decide.”

qul innī ʿalā bayyinatin min rabbī wakadhabtum bihi mā ʿindī mā tastaʿjilūna bihi ini l-ḥuk'mu illā lillahi yaquṣṣu l-ḥaqa wahuwa khayru l-fāṣilīn

6:58

قُل لَّوۡ أَنَّ عِندِی مَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ بِهِۦ لَقُضِیَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٥٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “If what you want hastened were in my power, the matter would be settled at once between me and you. Allah knows best who sins.

qul law anna ʿindī mā tastaʿjilūna bihi laquḍiya l-amru baynī wabaynakum wal-lahu aʿlamu bil-ẓālimīn

6:59

۞ وَعِندَهُۥ مَفَاتِحُ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ لَا یَعۡلَمُهَاۤ إِلَّا هُوَۚ وَیَعۡلَمُ مَا فِی ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِۚ وَمَا تَسۡقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلَّا یَعۡلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّةࣲ فِی ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا رَطۡبࣲ وَلَا یَابِسٍ إِلَّا فِی كِتَـٰبࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٥٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

“With Him are the keys of the unseen elements. None knows them except Him. He knows whatever is of land and sea. Not a leaf falls without His knowledge. No grain is in the depths of the earth, or anything fresh or dry that isn’t recorded in a concise account.

waʿindahu mafātiḥu l-ghaybi lā yaʿlamuhā illā huwa wayaʿlamu mā fī l-bari wal-baḥri wamā tasquṭu min waraqatin illā yaʿlamuhā walā ḥabbatin fī ẓulumāti l-arḍi walā raṭbin walā yābisin illā fī kitābin mubīni

6:60

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی یَتَوَفَّىٰكُم بِٱلَّیۡلِ وَیَعۡلَمُ مَا جَرَحۡتُم بِٱلنَّهَارِ ثُمَّ یَبۡعَثُكُمۡ فِیهِ لِیُقۡضَىٰۤ أَجَلࣱ مُّسَمࣰّىۖ ثُمَّ إِلَیۡهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ ثُمَّ یُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٦٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

“He keeps your souls at night and has knowledge of all that you have done by day. He raises you [from sleep] again so that an appointed term may be fulfilled. You will return to Him. He will reveal the truth of all that you did.”

wahuwa alladhī yatawaffākum bi-al-layli wayaʿlamu mā jaraḥtum bil-nahāri thumma yabʿathukum fīhi liyuq'ḍā ajalun musamman thumma ilayhi marjiʿukum thumma yunabbi-ukum bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

6:61

وَهُوَ ٱلۡقَاهِرُ فَوۡقَ عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَیُرۡسِلُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ حَفَظَةً حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ تَوَفَّتۡهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمۡ لَا یُفَرِّطُونَ ۝٦١

Linda "iLham" Barto

He is omnipotent over His servants. He appoints guardians over you. Eventually, when death approaches one of you, Our angels take his/her soul. They never fail.

wahuwa l-qāhiru fawqa ʿibādihi wayur'silu ʿalaykum ḥafaẓatan ḥattā idhā jāa aḥadakumu l-mawtu tawaffathu rusulunā wahum lā yufarriṭūn

6:62

ثُمَّ رُدُّوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَوۡلَىٰهُمُ ٱلۡحَقِّۚ أَلَا لَهُ ٱلۡحُكۡمُ وَهُوَ أَسۡرَعُ ٱلۡحَـٰسِبِینَ ۝٦٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

People are returned to Allah, their true protector. Without question, the judgment is His. He is the swiftest to take account.”

thumma ruddū ilā l-lahi mawlāhumu l-ḥaqi alā lahu l-ḥuk'mu wahuwa asraʿu l-ḥāsibīn

6:63

قُلۡ مَن یُنَجِّیكُم مِّن ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ تَدۡعُونَهُۥ تَضَرُّعࣰا وَخُفۡیَةࣰ لَّىِٕنۡ أَنجَىٰنَا مِنۡ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِینَ ۝٦٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Who delivers you from the dark recesses of land and sea when you call upon Him in humility and silence? [You claim,] ‘If only He will deliver us from danger, we will show our gratitude.’”

qul man yunajjīkum min ẓulumāti l-bari wal-baḥri tadʿūnahu taḍarruʿan wakhuf'yatan la-in anjānā min hādhihi lanakūnanna mina l-shākirīn

6:64

قُلِ ٱللَّهُ یُنَجِّیكُم مِّنۡهَا وَمِن كُلِّ كَرۡبࣲ ثُمَّ أَنتُمۡ تُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٦٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Allah delivers you from such danger and other calamities, and still, you worship false gods.”

quli l-lahu yunajjīkum min'hā wamin kulli karbin thumma antum tush'rikūn

6:65

قُلۡ هُوَ ٱلۡقَادِرُ عَلَىٰۤ أَن یَبۡعَثَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابࣰا مِّن فَوۡقِكُمۡ أَوۡ مِن تَحۡتِ أَرۡجُلِكُمۡ أَوۡ یَلۡبِسَكُمۡ شِیَعࣰا وَیُذِیقَ بَعۡضَكُم بَأۡسَ بَعۡضٍۗ ٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَفۡقَهُونَ ۝٦٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “He is the Most Capable to send crises upon you from above and beneath your feet. He could throw you into confusion and division. He could cause you to suffer violence from others.” See how We illustrate the signs so they may understand.

qul huwa l-qādiru ʿalā an yabʿatha ʿalaykum ʿadhāban min fawqikum aw min taḥti arjulikum aw yalbisakum shiyaʿan wayudhīqa baʿḍakum basa baʿḍin unẓur kayfa nuṣarrifu l-āyāti laʿallahum yafqahūn

6:66

وَكَذَّبَ بِهِۦ قَوۡمُكَ وَهُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّۚ قُل لَّسۡتُ عَلَیۡكُم بِوَكِیلࣲ ۝٦٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Your people, however, deny what is the truth. Say, “I am not put in charge of you.

wakadhaba bihi qawmuka wahuwa l-ḥaqu qul lastu ʿalaykum biwakīli

6:67

لِّكُلِّ نَبَإࣲ مُّسۡتَقَرࣱّۚ وَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٦٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

For every prophecy is a term. You will soon come to realize.”

likulli naba-in mus'taqarrun wasawfa taʿlamūn

6:68

وَإِذَا رَأَیۡتَ ٱلَّذِینَ یَخُوضُونَ فِیۤ ءَایَـٰتِنَا فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ یَخُوضُوا۟ فِی حَدِیثٍ غَیۡرِهِۦۚ وَإِمَّا یُنسِیَنَّكَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ فَلَا تَقۡعُدۡ بَعۡدَ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ مَعَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٦٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

When you see people engaged in frivolous talk about Our signs, turn from them until they talk about something else. If Satan makes you forget, then, after you remember, do not sit in the company of sinners.

wa-idhā ra-ayta alladhīna yakhūḍūna fī āyātinā fa-aʿriḍ ʿanhum ḥattā yakhūḍū fī ḥadīthin ghayrihi wa-immā yunsiyannaka l-shayṭānu falā taqʿud baʿda l-dhik'rā maʿa l-qawmi l-ẓālimīn

6:69

وَمَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ یَتَّقُونَ مِنۡ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَیۡءࣲ وَلَـٰكِن ذِكۡرَىٰ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَّقُونَ ۝٦٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Concerning them, the righteous are not responsible, but they should remind [the sinners] so they may obtain reverence.

wamā ʿalā alladhīna yattaqūna min ḥisābihim min shayin walākin dhik'rā laʿallahum yattaqūn

6:70

وَذَرِ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ دِینَهُمۡ لَعِبࣰا وَلَهۡوࣰا وَغَرَّتۡهُمُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۚ وَذَكِّرۡ بِهِۦۤ أَن تُبۡسَلَ نَفۡسُۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ لَیۡسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِیࣱّ وَلَا شَفِیعࣱ وَإِن تَعۡدِلۡ كُلَّ عَدۡلࣲ لَّا یُؤۡخَذۡ مِنۡهَاۤۗ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ أُبۡسِلُوا۟ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ۖ لَهُمۡ شَرَابࣱ مِّنۡ حَمِیمࣲ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِیمُۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٧٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

Avoid those who assume religion to be mere distraction and enjoyment. They are deceived by the life of this world. Tell them that every soul delivers itself to ruin by its own acts. It will find no protector or intercessor except Allah. If it offered every ransom, nothing would be accepted. That is what happens to those who deliver themselves to ruin by their own acts. They will have boiling water to drink. They will have a horrible punishment because they would not believe.

wadhari alladhīna ittakhadhū dīnahum laʿiban walahwan wagharrathumu l-ḥayatu l-dun'yā wadhakkir bihi an tub'sala nafsun bimā kasabat laysa lahā min dūni l-lahi waliyyun walā shafīʿun wa-in taʿdil kulla ʿadlin lā yu'khadh min'hā ulāika alladhīna ub'silū bimā kasabū lahum sharābun min ḥamīmin waʿadhābun alīmun bimā kānū yakfurūn

6:71

قُلۡ أَنَدۡعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَنفَعُنَا وَلَا یَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلَىٰۤ أَعۡقَابِنَا بَعۡدَ إِذۡ هَدَىٰنَا ٱللَّهُ كَٱلَّذِی ٱسۡتَهۡوَتۡهُ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینُ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ حَیۡرَانَ لَهُۥۤ أَصۡحَـٰبࣱ یَدۡعُونَهُۥۤ إِلَى ٱلۡهُدَى ٱئۡتِنَاۗ قُلۡ إِنَّ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ هُوَ ٱلۡهُدَىٰۖ وَأُمِرۡنَا لِنُسۡلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Should we call on others besides Allah –others that can neither benefit nor harm us? Should we regress after receiving guidance from Allah? Should we then be like one whom the demons have misled? He/she is left to wander aimlessly across the wilderness while his/her friends, trying to guide him/her, beg, ‘Follow us.’” Say, “Allah’s guidance is the only guidance. We are commanded to surrender to the Lord of the Worlds.

qul anadʿū min dūni l-lahi mā lā yanfaʿunā walā yaḍurrunā wanuraddu ʿalā aʿqābinā baʿda idh hadānā l-lahu ka-alladhī is'tahwathu l-shayāṭīnu fī l-arḍi ḥayrāna lahu aṣḥābun yadʿūnahu ilā l-hudā i'tinā qul inna hudā l-lahi huwa l-hudā wa-umir'nā linus'lima lirabbi l-ʿālamīn

6:72

وَأَنۡ أَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱتَّقُوهُۚ وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ إِلَیۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ ۝٧٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

“[We are commanded] to be consistent in ritual prayers, and to fear Allah. It is to Him that we shall be assembled.”

wa-an aqīmū l-ṣalata wa-ittaqūhu wahuwa alladhī ilayhi tuḥ'sharūn

6:73

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ وَیَوۡمَ یَقُولُ كُن فَیَكُونُۚ قَوۡلُهُ ٱلۡحَقُّۚ وَلَهُ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ یَوۡمَ یُنفَخُ فِی ٱلصُّورِۚ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ٱلۡخَبِیرُ ۝٧٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

It is He who created the skies and Earth in accordance with truth. Whenever He says, “Be!” it is. His Word is truth. Dominion is His on the day the trumpet will be blown [on the Day of Resurrection]. He knows the unseen as well as that which is publicized. He is the Perfectly Wise, the All-aware.

wahuwa alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa bil-ḥaqi wayawma yaqūlu kun fayakūnu qawluhu l-ḥaqu walahu l-mul'ku yawma yunfakhu fī l-ṣūri ʿālimu l-ghaybi wal-shahādati wahuwa l-ḥakīmu l-khabīr

6:74

۞ وَإِذۡ قَالَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ لِأَبِیهِ ءَازَرَ أَتَتَّخِذُ أَصۡنَامًا ءَالِهَةً إِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰكَ وَقَوۡمَكَ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٧٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Recall that Abraham said to his father Azar, “Do you acknowledge idols for gods? I see you and your people in obvious error.”

wa-idh qāla ib'rāhīmu li-abīhi āzara atattakhidhu aṣnāman ālihatan innī arāka waqawmaka fī ḍalālin mubīni

6:75

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نُرِیۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ مَلَكُوتَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلِیَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُوقِنِینَ ۝٧٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

We showed Abraham the splendor of the skies and Earth so he may have assurance.

wakadhālika nurī ib'rāhīma malakūta l-samāwāti wal-arḍi waliyakūna mina l-mūqinīn

6:76

فَلَمَّا جَنَّ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلَّیۡلُ رَءَا كَوۡكَبࣰاۖ قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَبِّیۖ فَلَمَّاۤ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَاۤ أُحِبُّ ٱلۡءَافِلِینَ ۝٧٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

When the night enveloped him, he saw a star and said, “This is my Lord.” When it set, he said, “I cannot love something that disappears.”

falammā janna ʿalayhi al-laylu raā kawkaban qāla hādhā rabbī falammā afala qāla lā uḥibbu l-āfilīn

6:77

فَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلۡقَمَرَ بَازِغࣰا قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَبِّیۖ فَلَمَّاۤ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ یَهۡدِنِی رَبِّی لَأَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلضَّاۤلِّینَ ۝٧٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

When he saw the moon rise, he said, “This is my Lord.” When the moon set, he said, “Unless my Lord guides me, I shall surely be among those who are lost.”

falammā raā l-qamara bāzighan qāla hādhā rabbī falammā afala qāla la-in lam yahdinī rabbī la-akūnanna mina l-qawmi l-ḍālīn

6:78

فَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلشَّمۡسَ بَازِغَةࣰ قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَبِّی هَـٰذَاۤ أَكۡبَرُۖ فَلَمَّاۤ أَفَلَتۡ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّی بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٧٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

When he saw the sun rise, he said, “This is my Lord; this is the most awesome of all.” When the sun set, he said, “O my people, I am indeed free from your assigning partners to Allah.

falammā raā l-shamsa bāzighatan qāla hādhā rabbī hādhā akbaru falammā afalat qāla yāqawmi innī barīon mimmā tush'rikūn

6:79

إِنِّی وَجَّهۡتُ وَجۡهِیَ لِلَّذِی فَطَرَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ حَنِیفࣰاۖ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝٧٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

I am firmly focused on He who created the skies and Earth; I am dedicated, and I am not of those who believe in idols.”

innī wajjahtu wajhiya lilladhī faṭara l-samāwāti wal-arḍa ḥanīfan wamā anā mina l-mush'rikīn

6:80

وَحَاۤجَّهُۥ قَوۡمُهُۥۚ قَالَ أَتُحَـٰۤجُّوۤنِّی فِی ٱللَّهِ وَقَدۡ هَدَىٰنِۚ وَلَاۤ أَخَافُ مَا تُشۡرِكُونَ بِهِۦۤ إِلَّاۤ أَن یَشَاۤءَ رَبِّی شَیۡءࣰاۚ وَسِعَ رَبِّی كُلَّ شَیۡءٍ عِلۡمًاۚ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٨٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

His people argued with him. He said, “Do you argue with me about Allah, when He has certainly guided me? I do not fear whatever you associate with Him, unless my Lord wills it. My Lord embraces everything with His knowledge. Will you not take heed?

waḥājjahu qawmuhu qāla atuḥājjūnnī fī l-lahi waqad hadāni walā akhāfu mā tush'rikūna bihi illā an yashāa rabbī shayan wasiʿa rabbī kulla shayin ʿil'man afalā tatadhakkarūn

6:81

وَكَیۡفَ أَخَافُ مَاۤ أَشۡرَكۡتُمۡ وَلَا تَخَافُونَ أَنَّكُمۡ أَشۡرَكۡتُم بِٱللَّهِ مَا لَمۡ یُنَزِّلۡ بِهِۦ عَلَیۡكُمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنࣰاۚ فَأَیُّ ٱلۡفَرِیقَیۡنِ أَحَقُّ بِٱلۡأَمۡنِۖ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٨١

Linda "iLham" Barto

“Why should I fear anything you associate with Him? You aren’t afraid of associating [idols] with Him without His ever having given you permission. Which of the two sides has more right to feel safe, if you happen to know?”

wakayfa akhāfu mā ashraktum walā takhāfūna annakum ashraktum bil-lahi mā lam yunazzil bihi ʿalaykum sul'ṭānan fa-ayyu l-farīqayni aḥaqqu bil-amni in kuntum taʿlamūn

6:82

ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَمۡ یَلۡبِسُوۤا۟ إِیمَـٰنَهُم بِظُلۡمٍ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمُ ٱلۡأَمۡنُ وَهُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ ۝٨٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Those who believe and do not confound their beliefs with error are saved, for they are guided.

alladhīna āmanū walam yalbisū īmānahum biẓul'min ulāika lahumu l-amnu wahum muh'tadūn

6:83

وَتِلۡكَ حُجَّتُنَاۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهَاۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ عَلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦۚ نَرۡفَعُ دَرَجَـٰتࣲ مَّن نَّشَاۤءُۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِیمٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٨٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

Such was the reasoning about Us that We gave to Abraham to confront his people. We elevate whom We will, degree by degree. Your Lord is Perfectly Wise, the All-knowing.

watil'ka ḥujjatunā ātaynāhā ib'rāhīma ʿalā qawmihi narfaʿu darajātin man nashāu inna rabbaka ḥakīmun ʿalīmu

6:84

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَ وَیَعۡقُوبَۚ كُلًّا هَدَیۡنَاۚ وَنُوحًا هَدَیۡنَا مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَمِن ذُرِّیَّتِهِۦ دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَیۡمَـٰنَ وَأَیُّوبَ وَیُوسُفَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَۚ وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٨٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

We blessed (Abraham) with Isaac and Jacob. We guided them as We had previously guided Noah. Among (Abraham’s) descendants were David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. Thus do We reward those who live righteously.

wawahabnā lahu is'ḥāqa wayaʿqūba kullan hadaynā wanūḥan hadaynā min qablu wamin dhurriyyatihi dāwūda wasulaymāna wa-ayyūba wayūsufa wamūsā wahārūna wakadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

6:85

وَزَكَرِیَّا وَیَحۡیَىٰ وَعِیسَىٰ وَإِلۡیَاسَۖ كُلࣱّ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٨٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Also, Zachariah, John, Jesus, and Elijah are all in the ranks of the righteous.

wazakariyyā wayaḥyā waʿīsā wa-il'yāsa kullun mina l-ṣāliḥīn

6:86

وَإِسۡمَـٰعِیلَ وَٱلۡیَسَعَ وَیُونُسَ وَلُوطࣰاۚ وَكُلࣰّا فَضَّلۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٨٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Also [included] are Ishmael, Elisha, Jonah, and Lot. To all these We gave favor above nations.

wa-is'māʿīla wal-yasaʿa wayūnusa walūṭan wakullan faḍḍalnā ʿalā l-ʿālamīn

6:87

وَمِنۡ ءَابَاۤىِٕهِمۡ وَذُرِّیَّـٰتِهِمۡ وَإِخۡوَ ٰنِهِمۡۖ وَٱجۡتَبَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَهَدَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٨٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

We chose them, their fathers, descendants, and brothers and guided them to the Straight Way.

wamin ābāihim wadhurriyyātihim wa-ikh'wānihim wa-ij'tabaynāhum wahadaynāhum ilā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi

6:88

ذَ ٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ یَهۡدِی بِهِۦ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۚ وَلَوۡ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ لَحَبِطَ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٨٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

This indicates the guidance of Allah. He gives guidance to whom He pleases among His worshipers. If any were to acknowledge other gods with Him, however, all the good they did would have been in vain.

dhālika hudā l-lahi yahdī bihi man yashāu min ʿibādihi walaw ashrakū laḥabiṭa ʿanhum mā kānū yaʿmalūn

6:89

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡحُكۡمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَۚ فَإِن یَكۡفُرۡ بِهَا هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ فَقَدۡ وَكَّلۡنَا بِهَا قَوۡمࣰا لَّیۡسُوا۟ بِهَا بِكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٨٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

These were men to whom We gave the Book and authority and the gift of prophecy. If these [their descendants] reject them, We shall entrust (their message) to a people who will not reject them.

ulāika alladhīna ātaynāhumu l-kitāba wal-ḥuk'ma wal-nubuwata fa-in yakfur bihā hāulāi faqad wakkalnā bihā qawman laysū bihā bikāfirīn

6:90

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ هَدَى ٱللَّهُۖ فَبِهُدَىٰهُمُ ٱقۡتَدِهۡۗ قُل لَّاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ أَجۡرًاۖ إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرَىٰ لِلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٩٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

They will be rightly guided by Allah. Follow their guidance. Say, “No reward do I ask of you for this. It is nothing less than a warning for all humanity.”

ulāika alladhīna hadā l-lahu fabihudāhumu iq'tadih qul lā asalukum ʿalayhi ajran in huwa illā dhik'rā lil'ʿālamīn

6:91

وَمَا قَدَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدۡرِهِۦۤ إِذۡ قَالُوا۟ مَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ بَشَرࣲ مِّن شَیۡءࣲۗ قُلۡ مَنۡ أَنزَلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ ٱلَّذِی جَاۤءَ بِهِۦ مُوسَىٰ نُورࣰا وَهُدࣰى لِّلنَّاسِۖ تَجۡعَلُونَهُۥ قَرَاطِیسَ تُبۡدُونَهَا وَتُخۡفُونَ كَثِیرࣰاۖ وَعُلِّمۡتُم مَّا لَمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنتُمۡ وَلَاۤ ءَابَاۤؤُكُمۡۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُۖ ثُمَّ ذَرۡهُمۡ فِی خَوۡضِهِمۡ یَلۡعَبُونَ ۝٩١

Linda "iLham" Barto

They did not fairly appraise Allah when they said, “Allah does not reveal anything to any human being.” Say, “Who then bestowed the Book that Moses brought, which was a light and guidance for the people? You made it into scrolls disclosing some [Scriptures] while concealing many. [Through the Torah,] you were taught that which you never knew, neither you nor your ancestors.” Say, “Allah!” Then leave them plunged into vain discourse.

wamā qadarū l-laha ḥaqqa qadrihi idh qālū mā anzala l-lahu ʿalā basharin min shayin qul man anzala l-kitāba alladhī jāa bihi mūsā nūran wahudan lilnnāsi tajʿalūnahu qarāṭīsa tub'dūnahā watukh'fūna kathīran waʿullim'tum mā lam taʿlamū antum walā ābāukum quli l-lahu thumma dharhum fī khawḍihim yalʿabūn

6:92

وَهَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ مُبَارَكࣱ مُّصَدِّقُ ٱلَّذِی بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡهِ وَلِتُنذِرَ أُمَّ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهَاۚ وَٱلَّذِینَ یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦۖ وَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمۡ یُحَافِظُونَ ۝٩٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

This is a Book that We have bestowed, bringing blessings and confirming (the Book), which came before it so that you [Prophet Muhammed] may warn the Mother of Cities [Mecca] and all around her. Those who believe in the hereafter believe in this [Book], and they are observant of prayers.

wahādhā kitābun anzalnāhu mubārakun muṣaddiqu alladhī bayna yadayhi walitundhira umma l-qurā waman ḥawlahā wa-alladhīna yu'minūna bil-ākhirati yu'minūna bihi wahum ʿalā ṣalātihim yuḥāfiẓūn

6:93

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوۡ قَالَ أُوحِیَ إِلَیَّ وَلَمۡ یُوحَ إِلَیۡهِ شَیۡءࣱ وَمَن قَالَ سَأُنزِلُ مِثۡلَ مَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُۗ وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰۤ إِذِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ فِی غَمَرَ ٰتِ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ بَاسِطُوۤا۟ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ أَخۡرِجُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَكُمُۖ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ تُجۡزَوۡنَ عَذَابَ ٱلۡهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ غَیۡرَ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَكُنتُمۡ عَنۡ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ تَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝٩٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

Who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah, or who has said, “I have received inspiration,” when he/she has not received it, or who has said, “I can reveal something like what Allah has revealed”? If you could only see how the wicked fare in the agonies of death! The angels stretch forth their hands: “Yield your souls! This day you will receive your reward –a penalty of shame for the lies you used to tell against Allah instead of truth and for scornfully rejecting His signs.”

waman aẓlamu mimmani if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban aw qāla ūḥiya ilayya walam yūḥa ilayhi shayon waman qāla sa-unzilu mith'la mā anzala l-lahu walaw tarā idhi l-ẓālimūna fī ghamarāti l-mawti wal-malāikatu bāsiṭū aydīhim akhrijū anfusakumu l-yawma tuj'zawna ʿadhāba l-hūni bimā kuntum taqūlūna ʿalā l-lahi ghayra l-ḥaqi wakuntum ʿan āyātihi tastakbirūn

6:94

وَلَقَدۡ جِئۡتُمُونَا فُرَ ٰدَىٰ كَمَا خَلَقۡنَـٰكُمۡ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةࣲ وَتَرَكۡتُم مَّا خَوَّلۡنَـٰكُمۡ وَرَاۤءَ ظُهُورِكُمۡۖ وَمَا نَرَىٰ مَعَكُمۡ شُفَعَاۤءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِینَ زَعَمۡتُمۡ أَنَّهُمۡ فِیكُمۡ شُرَكَـٰۤؤُا۟ۚ لَقَد تَّقَطَّعَ بَیۡنَكُمۡ وَضَلَّ عَنكُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ تَزۡعُمُونَ ۝٩٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Certainly, you will return to us naked and alone as We first created you. You will have left behind all that We gave you. We will not see with you your intercessors that you claimed as partners [for worship]. All relations between you will have been cut, and what you claimed will be lost.

walaqad ji'tumūnā furādā kamā khalaqnākum awwala marratin wataraktum mā khawwalnākum warāa ẓuhūrikum wamā narā maʿakum shufaʿāakumu alladhīna zaʿamtum annahum fīkum shurakāu laqad taqaṭṭaʿa baynakum waḍalla ʿankum mā kuntum tazʿumūn

6:95

۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ فَالِقُ ٱلۡحَبِّ وَٱلنَّوَىٰۖ یُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡحَیَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَیِّتِ وَمُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡمَیِّتِ مِنَ ٱلۡحَیِّۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ ۝٩٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Certainly, Allah causes the seed grain and the date stone to split [and sprout]. He brings life from the dead, and He brings death from the living. Such is Allah! How then are you deluded?

inna l-laha fāliqu l-ḥabi wal-nawā yukh'riju l-ḥaya mina l-mayiti wamukh'riju l-mayiti mina l-ḥayi dhālikumu l-lahu fa-annā tu'fakūn

6:96

فَالِقُ ٱلۡإِصۡبَاحِ وَجَعَلَ ٱلَّیۡلَ سَكَنࣰا وَٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ حُسۡبَانࣰاۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ تَقۡدِیرُ ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلۡعَلِیمِ ۝٩٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

He cuts the break of day. He makes the night for rest, and the sun and moon for calculating [time]. Such is the order of the Exalted in Power, the Omniscient.

fāliqu l-iṣ'bāḥi wajaʿala al-layla sakanan wal-shamsa wal-qamara ḥus'bānan dhālika taqdīru l-ʿazīzi l-ʿalīm

6:97

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلنُّجُومَ لِتَهۡتَدُوا۟ بِهَا فِی ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِۗ قَدۡ فَصَّلۡنَا ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٩٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

He is the One who made the stars for you so you may navigate, with their help, through the dark spaces of land and sea. We certainly clarify Our signs for people who know.

wahuwa alladhī jaʿala lakumu l-nujūma litahtadū bihā fī ẓulumāti l-bari wal-baḥri qad faṣṣalnā l-āyāti liqawmin yaʿlamūn

6:98

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن نَّفۡسࣲ وَ ٰحِدَةࣲ فَمُسۡتَقَرࣱّ وَمُسۡتَوۡدَعࣱۗ قَدۡ فَصَّلۡنَا ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَفۡقَهُونَ ۝٩٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

He is the One who produced you from a single soul. Here [on Earth] is a place to live and rest. We certainly clarify Our signs for people who understand.

wahuwa alladhī ansha-akum min nafsin wāḥidatin famus'taqarrun wamus'tawdaʿun qad faṣṣalnā l-āyāti liqawmin yafqahūn

6:99

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهِۦ نَبَاتَ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مِنۡهُ خَضِرࣰا نُّخۡرِجُ مِنۡهُ حَبࣰّا مُّتَرَاكِبࣰا وَمِنَ ٱلنَّخۡلِ مِن طَلۡعِهَا قِنۡوَانࣱ دَانِیَةࣱ وَجَنَّـٰتࣲ مِّنۡ أَعۡنَابࣲ وَٱلزَّیۡتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُشۡتَبِهࣰا وَغَیۡرَ مُتَشَـٰبِهٍۗ ٱنظُرُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ ثَمَرِهِۦۤ إِذَاۤ أَثۡمَرَ وَیَنۡعِهِۦۤۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٩٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

He is the One who bestows rain from the skies. With it We produce vegetation of all kinds. From some We produce foliage out of which We produce heaps of grain; out of the date palm and its sheaths, clusters of dates hanging low and near; and gardens of grapes, olives, and pomegranates, each [garden] similar yet unique. Look at the fruit when it emerges and ripens. Indeed, in that are signs for people who believe.

wahuwa alladhī anzala mina l-samāi māan fa-akhrajnā bihi nabāta kulli shayin fa-akhrajnā min'hu khaḍiran nukh'riju min'hu ḥabban mutarākiban wamina l-nakhli min ṭalʿihā qin'wānun dāniyatun wajannātin min aʿnābin wal-zaytūna wal-rumāna mush'tabihan waghayra mutashābihin unẓurū ilā thamarihi idhā athmara wayanʿihi inna fī dhālikum laāyātin liqawmin yu'minūn

6:100

وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ شُرَكَاۤءَ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَخَلَقَهُمۡۖ وَخَرَقُوا۟ لَهُۥ بَنِینَ وَبَنَـٰتِۭ بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمࣲۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝١٠٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

They consider spirit-beings equal with Allah, although Allah created the spirit-beings. Without knowledge, they falsely attribute sons and daughters to Him. He is glorified and exalted above whatever they attribute.

wajaʿalū lillahi shurakāa l-jina wakhalaqahum wakharaqū lahu banīna wabanātin bighayri ʿil'min sub'ḥānahu wataʿālā ʿammā yaṣifūn

6:101

بَدِیعُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ أَنَّىٰ یَكُونُ لَهُۥ وَلَدࣱ وَلَمۡ تَكُن لَّهُۥ صَـٰحِبَةࣱۖ وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَیۡءࣲۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِیمࣱ ۝١٠١

Linda "iLham" Barto

To Him is credited the primal origin of the atmosphere and planet Earth. How can He have a [begotten] child when He has no spouse? He has created all things, and He has full knowledge of all things.

badīʿu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi annā yakūnu lahu waladun walam takun lahu ṣāḥibatun wakhalaqa kulla shayin wahuwa bikulli shayin ʿalīmu

6:102

ذَ ٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡۖ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ خَـٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ وَكِیلࣱ ۝١٠٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

That is your Lord God! No god is there except Him, the Creator of all things. Worship Him for He has all things in His care.

dhālikumu l-lahu rabbukum lā ilāha illā huwa khāliqu kulli shayin fa-uʿ'budūhu wahuwa ʿalā kulli shayin wakīlu

6:103

لَّا تُدۡرِكُهُ ٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرُ وَهُوَ یُدۡرِكُ ٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرَۖ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِیفُ ٱلۡخَبِیرُ ۝١٠٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp encompasses all visions. He is beyond our comprehension, but He comprehends all.

lā tud'rikuhu l-abṣāru wahuwa yud'riku l-abṣāra wahuwa l-laṭīfu l-khabīr

6:104

قَدۡ جَاۤءَكُم بَصَاۤىِٕرُ مِن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ فَمَنۡ أَبۡصَرَ فَلِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَنۡ عَمِیَ فَعَلَیۡهَاۚ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ عَلَیۡكُم بِحَفِیظࣲ ۝١٠٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

“Now has appeared from your Lord evidence. If any will see, the benefit will be to his/her own soul. If any chooses to remain unseeing, the detriment will be his/her own. I [your Prophet] am not appointed to guard you.”

qad jāakum baṣāiru min rabbikum faman abṣara falinafsihi waman ʿamiya faʿalayhā wamā anā ʿalaykum biḥafīẓi

6:105

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ وَلِیَقُولُوا۟ دَرَسۡتَ وَلِنُبَیِّنَهُۥ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٠٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

We explain the signs in various ways so they may say, “You are knowledgeable,” and so We may clarify matters for those who discern.

wakadhālika nuṣarrifu l-āyāti waliyaqūlū darasta walinubayyinahu liqawmin yaʿlamūn

6:106

ٱتَّبِعۡ مَاۤ أُوحِیَ إِلَیۡكَ مِن رَّبِّكَۖ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝١٠٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord. No god is there except Him. Avoid those who enlist other gods.

ittabiʿ mā ūḥiya ilayka min rabbika lā ilāha illā huwa wa-aʿriḍ ʿani l-mush'rikīn

6:107

وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مَاۤ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ۗ وَمَا جَعَلۡنَـٰكَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ حَفِیظࣰاۖ وَمَاۤ أَنتَ عَلَیۡهِم بِوَكِیلࣲ ۝١٠٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

If Allah had so planned, they would not have enlisted false gods. We do not require that you be their guardian or manager.

walaw shāa l-lahu mā ashrakū wamā jaʿalnāka ʿalayhim ḥafīẓan wamā anta ʿalayhim biwakīli

6:108

وَلَا تَسُبُّوا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَیَسُبُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَدۡوَۢا بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمࣲۗ كَذَ ٰلِكَ زَیَّنَّا لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمۡ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِم مَّرۡجِعُهُمۡ فَیُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٠٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

Do not condemn what [gods] they enlist besides Allah, because, out of spite, they may condemn Allah in their ignorance. We have allowed each society to be enamored by its own activities. To their Lord they will return, and then We will account to them about all they did.

walā tasubbū alladhīna yadʿūna min dūni l-lahi fayasubbū l-laha ʿadwan bighayri ʿil'min kadhālika zayyannā likulli ummatin ʿamalahum thumma ilā rabbihim marjiʿuhum fayunabbi-uhum bimā kānū yaʿmalūn

6:109

وَأَقۡسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهۡدَ أَیۡمَـٰنِهِمۡ لَىِٕن جَاۤءَتۡهُمۡ ءَایَةࣱ لَّیُؤۡمِنُنَّ بِهَاۚ قُلۡ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡءَایَـٰتُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۖ وَمَا یُشۡعِرُكُمۡ أَنَّهَاۤ إِذَا جَاۤءَتۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٠٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

They swear their strongest oaths by Allah that, if a sign came to them, they would certainly believe in it. Say, “Signs are only within Allah’s power.” What will make you realize that they would not believe even if (a sign) came?

wa-aqsamū bil-lahi jahda aymānihim la-in jāathum āyatun layu'minunna bihā qul innamā l-āyātu ʿinda l-lahi wamā yush'ʿirukum annahā idhā jāat lā yu'minūn

6:110

وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفۡءِدَتَهُمۡ وَأَبۡصَـٰرَهُمۡ كَمَا لَمۡ یُؤۡمِنُوا۟ بِهِۦۤ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةࣲ وَنَذَرُهُمۡ فِی طُغۡیَـٰنِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝١١٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

We shall confound their hearts and eyes. They refused to believe in this in the first place, so We will leave them to their sins, to wander in distraction.

wanuqallibu afidatahum wa-abṣārahum kamā lam yu'minū bihi awwala marratin wanadharuhum fī ṭugh'yānihim yaʿmahūn

6:111

۞ وَلَوۡ أَنَّنَا نَزَّلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ وَكَلَّمَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ وَحَشَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ كُلَّ شَیۡءࣲ قُبُلࣰا مَّا كَانُوا۟ لِیُؤۡمِنُوۤا۟ إِلَّاۤ أَن یَشَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ یَجۡهَلُونَ ۝١١١

Linda "iLham" Barto

We could send angels to them. We could make the dead speak to them. We could assemble things before them face to face. Even if we did those things, they would still not believe unless Allah so willed. Most of them are ignorant.

walaw annanā nazzalnā ilayhimu l-malāikata wakallamahumu l-mawtā waḥasharnā ʿalayhim kulla shayin qubulan mā kānū liyu'minū illā an yashāa l-lahu walākinna aktharahum yajhalūn

6:112

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ جَعَلۡنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِیٍّ عَدُوࣰّا شَیَـٰطِینَ ٱلۡإِنسِ وَٱلۡجِنِّ یُوحِی بَعۡضُهُمۡ إِلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ زُخۡرُفَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ غُرُورࣰاۚ وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ رَبُّكَ مَا فَعَلُوهُۖ فَذَرۡهُمۡ وَمَا یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝١١٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

For every messenger, We have appointed satanic enemies from among people and spirit-beings. They inspire one another with believable dialog with deception. If your Lord had so planned, they could not have done so. Leave them alone with their inventions.

wakadhālika jaʿalnā likulli nabiyyin ʿaduwwan shayāṭīna l-insi wal-jini yūḥī baʿḍuhum ilā baʿḍin zukh'rufa l-qawli ghurūran walaw shāa rabbuka mā faʿalūhu fadharhum wamā yaftarūn

6:113

وَلِتَصۡغَىٰۤ إِلَیۡهِ أَفۡءِدَةُ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ وَلِیَرۡضَوۡهُ وَلِیَقۡتَرِفُوا۟ مَا هُم مُّقۡتَرِفُونَ ۝١١٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

May the hearts of those who deny the hereafter incline to such (deceit). May they be pleased with it. May they earn from it what they can.

walitaṣghā ilayhi afidatu alladhīna lā yu'minūna bil-ākhirati waliyarḍawhu waliyaqtarifū mā hum muq'tarifūn

6:114

أَفَغَیۡرَ ٱللَّهِ أَبۡتَغِی حَكَمࣰا وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنزَلَ إِلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ مُفَصَّلࣰاۚ وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ یَعۡلَمُونَ أَنَّهُۥ مُنَزَّلࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُمۡتَرِینَ ۝١١٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Should I seek a judge other than Allah? It was He who sent down to you the Book that is clear. Those to whom We have given the Book know that it was revealed from your Lord in truth. Therefore, do not be among the disputants.”

afaghayra l-lahi abtaghī ḥakaman wahuwa alladhī anzala ilaykumu l-kitāba mufaṣṣalan wa-alladhīna ātaynāhumu l-kitāba yaʿlamūna annahu munazzalun min rabbika bil-ḥaqi falā takūnanna mina l-mum'tarīn

6:115

وَتَمَّتۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ صِدۡقࣰا وَعَدۡلࣰاۚ لَّا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝١١٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

The Word of your Lord is fulfilled in truth and justice. No one can change His words. He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.

watammat kalimatu rabbika ṣid'qan waʿadlan lā mubaddila likalimātihi wahuwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

6:116

وَإِن تُطِعۡ أَكۡثَرَ مَن فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ یُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِن یَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا یَخۡرُصُونَ ۝١١٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

If you obey most of those on the earth, they will misguide you from Allah’s way. They follow nothing but conjecture, and they only guess.

wa-in tuṭiʿ akthara man fī l-arḍi yuḍillūka ʿan sabīli l-lahi in yattabiʿūna illā l-ẓana wa-in hum illā yakhruṣūn

6:117

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ مَن یَضِلُّ عَن سَبِیلِهِۦۖ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِینَ ۝١١٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

Indeed, your Lord knows best who strays from His way. He knows best who are guided.

inna rabbaka huwa aʿlamu man yaḍillu ʿan sabīlihi wahuwa aʿlamu bil-muh'tadīn

6:118

فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ ٱسۡمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَیۡهِ إِن كُنتُم بِءَایَـٰتِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

Eat of that over which Allah’s name has been said, if you truly believe in His messages.

fakulū mimmā dhukira us'mu l-lahi ʿalayhi in kuntum biāyātihi mu'minīn

6:119

وَمَا لَكُمۡ أَلَّا تَأۡكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ ٱسۡمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَیۡهِ وَقَدۡ فَصَّلَ لَكُم مَّا حَرَّمَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ إِلَّا مَا ٱضۡطُرِرۡتُمۡ إِلَیۡهِۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِیرࣰا لَّیُضِلُّونَ بِأَهۡوَاۤىِٕهِم بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمٍۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُعۡتَدِینَ ۝١١٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Why would you not eat that over which Allah’s name has been said? He has already explained to you in detail what is forbidden, except under compulsion of necessity. Many mislead by their selfish ignorance. Truly, your Lord knows best who sin.

wamā lakum allā takulū mimmā dhukira us'mu l-lahi ʿalayhi waqad faṣṣala lakum mā ḥarrama ʿalaykum illā mā uḍ'ṭurir'tum ilayhi wa-inna kathīran layuḍillūna bi-ahwāihim bighayri ʿil'min inna rabbaka huwa aʿlamu bil-muʿ'tadīn

6:120

وَذَرُوا۟ ظَـٰهِرَ ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَبَاطِنَهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَكۡسِبُونَ ٱلۡإِثۡمَ سَیُجۡزَوۡنَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَقۡتَرِفُونَ ۝١٢٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

Abstain from evil, whether it is public or secret. Truly, those who sin will be paid what they earn.

wadharū ẓāhira l-ith'mi wabāṭinahu inna alladhīna yaksibūna l-ith'ma sayuj'zawna bimā kānū yaqtarifūn

6:121

وَلَا تَأۡكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا لَمۡ یُذۡكَرِ ٱسۡمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَیۡهِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِسۡقࣱۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینَ لَیُوحُونَ إِلَىٰۤ أَوۡلِیَاۤىِٕهِمۡ لِیُجَـٰدِلُوكُمۡۖ وَإِنۡ أَطَعۡتُمُوهُمۡ إِنَّكُمۡ لَمُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١٢١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Do not eat what has not had Allah’s name said over it. That would be a sin. Truly, the demons inspire their partners to involve you in an argument. If you pay attention to them, you will become no better than the idolaters.

walā takulū mimmā lam yudh'kari us'mu l-lahi ʿalayhi wa-innahu lafis'qun wa-inna l-shayāṭīna layūḥūna ilā awliyāihim liyujādilūkum wa-in aṭaʿtumūhum innakum lamush'rikūn

6:122

أَوَ مَن كَانَ مَیۡتࣰا فَأَحۡیَیۡنَـٰهُ وَجَعَلۡنَا لَهُۥ نُورࣰا یَمۡشِی بِهِۦ فِی ٱلنَّاسِ كَمَن مَّثَلُهُۥ فِی ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ لَیۡسَ بِخَارِجࣲ مِّنۡهَاۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ زُیِّنَ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٢٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

[Consider] one who was [spiritually] dead and upon whom We gave life. [We gave] a light so he/she may see the way among people. Is he/she like one in depths of darkness from which he/she cannot emerge? Thus their own conduct seems right to the unbelievers.

awaman kāna maytan fa-aḥyaynāhu wajaʿalnā lahu nūran yamshī bihi fī l-nāsi kaman mathaluhu fī l-ẓulumāti laysa bikhārijin min'hā kadhālika zuyyina lil'kāfirīna mā kānū yaʿmalūn

6:123

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ جَعَلۡنَا فِی كُلِّ قَرۡیَةٍ أَكَـٰبِرَ مُجۡرِمِیهَا لِیَمۡكُرُوا۟ فِیهَاۖ وَمَا یَمۡكُرُونَ إِلَّا بِأَنفُسِهِمۡ وَمَا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝١٢٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

Thus We allow leaders in every city to be among the wicked so they shall scheme in it. They scheme only against their own souls, and they don’t even realize it.

wakadhālika jaʿalnā fī kulli qaryatin akābira muj'rimīhā liyamkurū fīhā wamā yamkurūna illā bi-anfusihim wamā yashʿurūn

6:124

وَإِذَا جَاۤءَتۡهُمۡ ءَایَةࣱ قَالُوا۟ لَن نُّؤۡمِنَ حَتَّىٰ نُؤۡتَىٰ مِثۡلَ مَاۤ أُوتِیَ رُسُلُ ٱللَّهِۘ ٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ حَیۡثُ یَجۡعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُۥۗ سَیُصِیبُ ٱلَّذِینَ أَجۡرَمُوا۟ صَغَارٌ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعَذَابࣱ شَدِیدُۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَمۡكُرُونَ ۝١٢٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Whenever a sign comes to them, they say, “We will never believe until we are given something like what Allah’s messengers were given.” Allah knows best upon whom to bestow His message. Humiliation and severe punishment will smite the sinners for all their scheming.

wa-idhā jāathum āyatun qālū lan nu'mina ḥattā nu'tā mith'la mā ūtiya rusulu l-lahi l-lahu aʿlamu ḥaythu yajʿalu risālatahu sayuṣību alladhīna ajramū ṣaghārun ʿinda l-lahi waʿadhābun shadīdun bimā kānū yamkurūn

6:125

فَمَن یُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن یَهۡدِیَهُۥ یَشۡرَحۡ صَدۡرَهُۥ لِلۡإِسۡلَـٰمِۖ وَمَن یُرِدۡ أَن یُضِلَّهُۥ یَجۡعَلۡ صَدۡرَهُۥ ضَیِّقًا حَرَجࣰا كَأَنَّمَا یَصَّعَّدُ فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ یَجۡعَلُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّجۡسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٢٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

For those whom Allah wants to guide, He opens their hearts to Islam. For those whom He wants to leave astray, He closes and constricts their hearts as if they were climbing to the sky. This is the way Allah lays penalty upon those who refuse to believe.

faman yuridi l-lahu an yahdiyahu yashraḥ ṣadrahu lil'is'lāmi waman yurid an yuḍillahu yajʿal ṣadrahu ḍayyiqan ḥarajan ka-annamā yaṣṣaʿʿadu fī l-samāi kadhālika yajʿalu l-lahu l-rij'sa ʿalā alladhīna lā yu'minūn

6:126

وَهَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطُ رَبِّكَ مُسۡتَقِیمࣰاۗ قَدۡ فَصَّلۡنَا ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَذَّكَّرُونَ ۝١٢٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

This is the way of your Lord; it leads straight. Certainly, We have detailed the signs for those willing to receive warning.

wahādhā ṣirāṭu rabbika mus'taqīman qad faṣṣalnā l-āyāti liqawmin yadhakkarūn

6:127

۞ لَهُمۡ دَارُ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡۖ وَهُوَ وَلِیُّهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٢٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

They will have a home of peace in the presence of their Lord. He will be their Guardian because of how they lived.

lahum dāru l-salāmi ʿinda rabbihim wahuwa waliyyuhum bimā kānū yaʿmalūn

6:128

وَیَوۡمَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِیعࣰا یَـٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ قَدِ ٱسۡتَكۡثَرۡتُم مِّنَ ٱلۡإِنسِۖ وَقَالَ أَوۡلِیَاۤؤُهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡإِنسِ رَبَّنَا ٱسۡتَمۡتَعَ بَعۡضُنَا بِبَعۡضࣲ وَبَلَغۡنَاۤ أَجَلَنَا ٱلَّذِیۤ أَجَّلۡتَ لَنَاۚ قَالَ ٱلنَّارُ مَثۡوَىٰكُمۡ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۤ إِلَّا مَا شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِیمٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝١٢٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

One day, He will assemble them. “O assembly of spirit-beings, you certainly misguided many of the people.” Their buddies among people will say, “Our Lord, we profited from each other, but we reached our span [of living], which you set for us.” He will say, “The fire will be your dwelling place where you will stay continuously, except as Allah wills. Truly, Your Lord is the Perfectly Wise, the All-knowing.”

wayawma yaḥshuruhum jamīʿan yāmaʿshara l-jini qadi is'takthartum mina l-insi waqāla awliyāuhum mina l-insi rabbanā is'tamtaʿa baʿḍunā bibaʿḍin wabalaghnā ajalanā alladhī ajjalta lanā qāla l-nāru mathwākum khālidīna fīhā illā mā shāa l-lahu inna rabbaka ḥakīmun ʿalīmu

6:129

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نُوَلِّی بَعۡضَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ بَعۡضَۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝١٢٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

This is how we make sinners turn to one another, because of what they earn.

wakadhālika nuwallī baʿḍa l-ẓālimīna baʿḍan bimā kānū yaksibūn

6:130

یَـٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ أَلَمۡ یَأۡتِكُمۡ رُسُلࣱ مِّنكُمۡ یَقُصُّونَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِی وَیُنذِرُونَكُمۡ لِقَاۤءَ یَوۡمِكُمۡ هَـٰذَاۚ قَالُوا۟ شَهِدۡنَا عَلَىٰۤ أَنفُسِنَاۖ وَغَرَّتۡهُمُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَشَهِدُوا۟ عَلَىٰۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡ أَنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ كَـٰفِرِینَ ۝١٣٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

O assembly of spirit-beings and people, were there not messengers among you to present My signs and to warn you of the meeting of your day [to be judged]? They will say [on that day], “We testify against ourselves.” The life of this world deceived them, so they themselves will testify that they would not believe.

yāmaʿshara l-jini wal-insi alam yatikum rusulun minkum yaquṣṣūna ʿalaykum āyātī wayundhirūnakum liqāa yawmikum hādhā qālū shahid'nā ʿalā anfusinā wagharrathumu l-ḥayatu l-dun'yā washahidū ʿalā anfusihim annahum kānū kāfirīn

6:131

ذَ ٰلِكَ أَن لَّمۡ یَكُن رَّبُّكَ مُهۡلِكَ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ بِظُلۡمࣲ وَأَهۡلُهَا غَـٰفِلُونَ ۝١٣١

Linda "iLham" Barto

So it is, because your Lord would not destroy, due to sin, inhabited territories while the populations had not been advised.

dhālika an lam yakun rabbuka muh'lika l-qurā biẓul'min wa-ahluhā ghāfilūn

6:132

وَلِكُلࣲّ دَرَجَـٰتࣱ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا۟ۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٣٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

To all are ranks according to their deeds, for your Lord is not unaware of a single thing that they do.

walikullin darajātun mimmā ʿamilū wamā rabbuka bighāfilin ʿammā yaʿmalūn

6:133

وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡغَنِیُّ ذُو ٱلرَّحۡمَةِۚ إِن یَشَأۡ یُذۡهِبۡكُمۡ وَیَسۡتَخۡلِفۡ مِنۢ بَعۡدِكُم مَّا یَشَاۤءُ كَمَاۤ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن ذُرِّیَّةِ قَوۡمٍ ءَاخَرِینَ ۝١٣٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

Your Lord is the independent owner of mercy. If it were His will, He could destroy you. In your place, He could appoint His choice as your successors, just as He raised you from the lineage of another generation.

warabbuka l-ghaniyu dhū l-raḥmati in yasha yudh'hib'kum wayastakhlif min baʿdikum mā yashāu kamā ansha-akum min dhurriyyati qawmin ākharīn

6:134

إِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُونَ لَءَاتࣲۖ وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝١٣٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Certainly, all He has promised you will come to pass, and you cannot foil it.

inna mā tūʿadūna laātin wamā antum bimuʿ'jizīn

6:135

قُلۡ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡمَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمۡ إِنِّی عَامِلࣱۖ فَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ مَن تَكُونُ لَهُۥ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلدَّارِۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝١٣٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “O my people, do whatever you can. I surely will also. You will soon know who will have a home in the finale. Certainly, the wicked will not succeed!”

qul yāqawmi iʿ'malū ʿalā makānatikum innī ʿāmilun fasawfa taʿlamūna man takūnu lahu ʿāqibatu l-dāri innahu lā yuf'liḥu l-ẓālimūn

6:136

وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ مِمَّا ذَرَأَ مِنَ ٱلۡحَرۡثِ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ نَصِیبࣰا فَقَالُوا۟ هَـٰذَا لِلَّهِ بِزَعۡمِهِمۡ وَهَـٰذَا لِشُرَكَاۤىِٕنَاۖ فَمَا كَانَ لِشُرَكَاۤىِٕهِمۡ فَلَا یَصِلُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَمَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ فَهُوَ یَصِلُ إِلَىٰ شُرَكَاۤىِٕهِمۡۗ سَاۤءَ مَا یَحۡكُمُونَ ۝١٣٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

From what Allah has produced in crops and cattle, they assign Him a share. They make a claim in saying, “This is for Allah, and this is for the associates [the false gods].” The share for their associates [with Allah] does not reach Allah, but the share for Allah reaches the associates. What they do is evil.

wajaʿalū lillahi mimmā dhara-a mina l-ḥarthi wal-anʿāmi naṣīban faqālū hādhā lillahi bizaʿmihim wahādhā lishurakāinā famā kāna lishurakāihim falā yaṣilu ilā l-lahi wamā kāna lillahi fahuwa yaṣilu ilā shurakāihim sāa mā yaḥkumūn

6:137

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ زَیَّنَ لِكَثِیرࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ قَتۡلَ أَوۡلَـٰدِهِمۡ شُرَكَاۤؤُهُمۡ لِیُرۡدُوهُمۡ وَلِیَلۡبِسُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِمۡ دِینَهُمۡۖ وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا فَعَلُوهُۖ فَذَرۡهُمۡ وَمَا یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝١٣٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

Likewise, their [belief in] associates [with Allah] makes the killing of their children seem right to the idolaters. This brings them to ruin and confuses them in religion. If Allah had so willed, they could not do such. Therefore, separate from them and all their [religious] fabrications.

wakadhālika zayyana likathīrin mina l-mush'rikīna qatla awlādihim shurakāuhum liyur'dūhum waliyalbisū ʿalayhim dīnahum walaw shāa l-lahu mā faʿalūhu fadharhum wamā yaftarūn

6:138

وَقَالُوا۟ هَـٰذِهِۦۤ أَنۡعَـٰمࣱ وَحَرۡثٌ حِجۡرࣱ لَّا یَطۡعَمُهَاۤ إِلَّا مَن نَّشَاۤءُ بِزَعۡمِهِمۡ وَأَنۡعَـٰمٌ حُرِّمَتۡ ظُهُورُهَا وَأَنۡعَـٰمࣱ لَّا یَذۡكُرُونَ ٱسۡمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَیۡهَا ٱفۡتِرَاۤءً عَلَیۡهِۚ سَیَجۡزِیهِم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝١٣٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

They also say that some cattle and crops are forbidden and that no one should eat them except as (the idolaters) please. That is their claim. Some cattle are forbidden for burden, and there are cattle over which they do not say Allah’s name. They make lies about Allah. He will pay them for what they fabricate.

waqālū hādhihi anʿāmun waḥarthun ḥij'run lā yaṭʿamuhā illā man nashāu bizaʿmihim wa-anʿāmun ḥurrimat ẓuhūruhā wa-anʿāmun lā yadhkurūna is'ma l-lahi ʿalayhā if'tirāan ʿalayhi sayajzīhim bimā kānū yaftarūn

6:139

وَقَالُوا۟ مَا فِی بُطُونِ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ خَالِصَةࣱ لِّذُكُورِنَا وَمُحَرَّمٌ عَلَىٰۤ أَزۡوَ ٰجِنَاۖ وَإِن یَكُن مَّیۡتَةࣰ فَهُمۡ فِیهِ شُرَكَاۤءُۚ سَیَجۡزِیهِمۡ وَصۡفَهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِیمٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝١٣٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

They also say, “What is in the wombs of certain cattle is reserved for the men and forbidden to the women. If it is still-born, however, everybody has a share in it.” For their [superstitious] claims, He will soon punish them. Indeed, He is the Perfectly Wise, the All-knowing.

waqālū mā fī buṭūni hādhihi l-anʿāmi khāliṣatun lidhukūrinā wamuḥarramun ʿalā azwājinā wa-in yakun maytatan fahum fīhi shurakāu sayajzīhim waṣfahum innahu ḥakīmun ʿalīmu

6:140

قَدۡ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِینَ قَتَلُوۤا۟ أَوۡلَـٰدَهُمۡ سَفَهَۢا بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمࣲ وَحَرَّمُوا۟ مَا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱفۡتِرَاۤءً عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ قَدۡ ضَلُّوا۟ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهۡتَدِینَ ۝١٤٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

Those who kill their children are surely lost. They do so foolishly, without any knowledge. They forbid what Allah has provided for them, making fabrications against Allah. They have indeed gone astray and are not among the guided ones.

qad khasira alladhīna qatalū awlādahum safahan bighayri ʿil'min waḥarramū mā razaqahumu l-lahu if'tirāan ʿalā l-lahi qad ḍallū wamā kānū muh'tadīn

6:141

۞ وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنشَأَ جَنَّـٰتࣲ مَّعۡرُوشَـٰتࣲ وَغَیۡرَ مَعۡرُوشَـٰتࣲ وَٱلنَّخۡلَ وَٱلزَّرۡعَ مُخۡتَلِفًا أُكُلُهُۥ وَٱلزَّیۡتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُتَشَـٰبِهࣰا وَغَیۡرَ مُتَشَـٰبِهࣲۚ كُلُوا۟ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦۤ إِذَاۤ أَثۡمَرَ وَءَاتُوا۟ حَقَّهُۥ یَوۡمَ حَصَادِهِۦۖ وَلَا تُسۡرِفُوۤا۟ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝١٤١

Linda "iLham" Barto

He has produced gardens, some with plant supports and some without. [He has produced] dates and crops with differing tastes, and olives and pomegranates –some similar and some quite different. Eat of the seasonal fruits. Give what is due [for charity] on the day of harvest. Do not waste by excess. Allah really does not love those who waste.

wahuwa alladhī ansha-a jannātin maʿrūshātin waghayra maʿrūshātin wal-nakhla wal-zarʿa mukh'talifan ukuluhu wal-zaytūna wal-rumāna mutashābihan waghayra mutashābihin kulū min thamarihi idhā athmara waātū ḥaqqahu yawma ḥaṣādihi walā tus'rifū innahu lā yuḥibbu l-mus'rifīn

6:142

وَمِنَ ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ حَمُولَةࣰ وَفَرۡشࣰاۚ كُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ خُطُوَ ٰتِ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمۡ عَدُوࣱّ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٤٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Of the cattle, some are for carrying burdens, and some are for meat. Eat what Allah has provided for you. Do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Certainly, he is to you an avowed enemy.

wamina l-anʿāmi ḥamūlatan wafarshan kulū mimmā razaqakumu l-lahu walā tattabiʿū khuṭuwāti l-shayṭāni innahu lakum ʿaduwwun mubīnu

6:143

ثَمَـٰنِیَةَ أَزۡوَ ٰجࣲۖ مِّنَ ٱلضَّأۡنِ ٱثۡنَیۡنِ وَمِنَ ٱلۡمَعۡزِ ٱثۡنَیۡنِۗ قُلۡ ءَاۤلذَّكَرَیۡنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ ٱلۡأُنثَیَیۡنِ أَمَّا ٱشۡتَمَلَتۡ عَلَیۡهِ أَرۡحَامُ ٱلۡأُنثَیَیۡنِۖ نَبِّءُونِی بِعِلۡمٍ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٤٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

[Propose] eight animals –two pairs of sheep and two pairs of goats. Say, “Has He forbidden the two males or the two females [of each group] or has He forbidden what is carried in the wombs of the two females? Explain it to me from your knowledge if you are telling the truth.”

thamāniyata azwājin mina l-ḍani ith'nayni wamina l-maʿzi ith'nayni qul āldhakarayni ḥarrama ami l-unthayayni ammā ish'tamalat ʿalayhi arḥāmu l-unthayayni nabbiūnī biʿil'min in kuntum ṣādiqīn

6:144

وَمِنَ ٱلۡإِبِلِ ٱثۡنَیۡنِ وَمِنَ ٱلۡبَقَرِ ٱثۡنَیۡنِۗ قُلۡ ءَاۤلذَّكَرَیۡنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ ٱلۡأُنثَیَیۡنِ أَمَّا ٱشۡتَمَلَتۡ عَلَیۡهِ أَرۡحَامُ ٱلۡأُنثَیَیۡنِۖ أَمۡ كُنتُمۡ شُهَدَاۤءَ إِذۡ وَصَّىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهَـٰذَاۚ فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبࣰا لِّیُضِلَّ ٱلنَّاسَ بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمٍۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یَهۡدِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٤٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

[Propose] two [pairs of] camels and two [pairs of] cows. Say, “Has He forbidden the two males or the two females [of each group] or has He forbidden what is carried in the wombs of the two females? Did you witness Allah’s command of this? Who sins greater than the one who fabricates a lie about Allah to mislead people without knowledge? Allah certainly does not guide the sinners.”

wamina l-ibili ith'nayni wamina l-baqari ith'nayni qul āldhakarayni ḥarrama ami l-unthayayni ammā ish'tamalat ʿalayhi arḥāmu l-unthayayni am kuntum shuhadāa idh waṣṣākumu l-lahu bihādhā faman aẓlamu mimmani if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban liyuḍilla l-nāsa bighayri ʿil'min inna l-laha lā yahdī l-qawma l-ẓālimīn

6:145

قُل لَّاۤ أَجِدُ فِی مَاۤ أُوحِیَ إِلَیَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَىٰ طَاعِمࣲ یَطۡعَمُهُۥۤ إِلَّاۤ أَن یَكُونَ مَیۡتَةً أَوۡ دَمࣰا مَّسۡفُوحًا أَوۡ لَحۡمَ خِنزِیرࣲ فَإِنَّهُۥ رِجۡسٌ أَوۡ فِسۡقًا أُهِلَّ لِغَیۡرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦۚ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ غَیۡرَ بَاغࣲ وَلَا عَادࣲ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝١٤٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “I do not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden to be eaten by any consumer. The exceptions are carrion, flowing blood, and pork, which is filthy, and a sinful offering over which a name other than Allah has been said. If a person is forced by necessity, without desire and indulgence, your Lord is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

qul lā ajidu fī mā ūḥiya ilayya muḥarraman ʿalā ṭāʿimin yaṭʿamuhu illā an yakūna maytatan aw daman masfūḥan aw laḥma khinzīrin fa-innahu rij'sun aw fis'qan uhilla lighayri l-lahi bihi famani uḍ'ṭurra ghayra bāghin walā ʿādin fa-inna rabbaka ghafūrun raḥīmu

6:146

وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِینَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمۡنَا كُلَّ ذِی ظُفُرࣲۖ وَمِنَ ٱلۡبَقَرِ وَٱلۡغَنَمِ حَرَّمۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ شُحُومَهُمَاۤ إِلَّا مَا حَمَلَتۡ ظُهُورُهُمَاۤ أَوِ ٱلۡحَوَایَاۤ أَوۡ مَا ٱخۡتَلَطَ بِعَظۡمࣲۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ جَزَیۡنَـٰهُم بِبَغۡیِهِمۡۖ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ ۝١٤٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

We did forbid Jews from animals having claws. We made the fat of cows and sheep unlawful for them, except what was on their backs or internal organs or what was joined to bones. This was because of their rebellion. We are surely truthful.

waʿalā alladhīna hādū ḥarramnā kulla dhī ẓufurin wamina l-baqari wal-ghanami ḥarramnā ʿalayhim shuḥūmahumā illā mā ḥamalat ẓuhūruhumā awi l-ḥawāyā aw mā ikh'talaṭa biʿaẓmin dhālika jazaynāhum bibaghyihim wa-innā laṣādiqūn

6:147

فَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل رَّبُّكُمۡ ذُو رَحۡمَةࣲ وَ ٰسِعَةࣲ وَلَا یُرَدُّ بَأۡسُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝١٤٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

If they deny you, say, “Your Lord is full of infinite mercy, but His punishment cannot be averted from the sinful people.”

fa-in kadhabūka faqul rabbukum dhū raḥmatin wāsiʿatin walā yuraddu basuhu ʿani l-qawmi l-muj'rimīn

6:148

سَیَقُولُ ٱلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ لَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مَاۤ أَشۡرَكۡنَا وَلَاۤ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمۡنَا مِن شَیۡءࣲۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ حَتَّىٰ ذَاقُوا۟ بَأۡسَنَاۗ قُلۡ هَلۡ عِندَكُم مِّنۡ عِلۡمࣲ فَتُخۡرِجُوهُ لَنَاۤۖ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا تَخۡرُصُونَ ۝١٤٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

The idolaters will say, “If Allah had wanted, we could not have assigned partners to Him. Neither would our fathers. We would not have outlawed anything.” Their ancestors told the same kind of lies until they experienced Our wrath. Say, “Do you have any real knowledge? If so, produce it for us. You don’t have anything but conjecture. You only guess.”

sayaqūlu alladhīna ashrakū law shāa l-lahu mā ashraknā walā ābāunā walā ḥarramnā min shayin kadhālika kadhaba alladhīna min qablihim ḥattā dhāqū basanā qul hal ʿindakum min ʿil'min fatukh'rijūhu lanā in tattabiʿūna illā l-ẓana wa-in antum illā takhruṣūn

6:149

قُلۡ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡحُجَّةُ ٱلۡبَـٰلِغَةُۖ فَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ لَهَدَىٰكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١٤٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “The conclusion of the argument is with Allah. If it were His will, He could have guided all of you.”

qul falillahi l-ḥujatu l-bālighatu falaw shāa lahadākum ajmaʿīn

6:150

قُلۡ هَلُمَّ شُهَدَاۤءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِینَ یَشۡهَدُونَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَرَّمَ هَـٰذَاۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَلَا تَشۡهَدۡ مَعَهُمۡۚ وَلَا تَتَّبِعۡ أَهۡوَاۤءَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا وَٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ وَهُم بِرَبِّهِمۡ یَعۡدِلُونَ ۝١٥٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Produce your witnesses to testify that Allah has forbidden this.” If they do testify, do not bear witness with them. Do not follow the views of those who deny Our signs, who do not believe in the afterlife, and who regard others as equal with their Lord.

qul halumma shuhadāakumu alladhīna yashhadūna anna l-laha ḥarrama hādhā fa-in shahidū falā tashhad maʿahum walā tattabiʿ ahwāa alladhīna kadhabū biāyātinā wa-alladhīna lā yu'minūna bil-ākhirati wahum birabbihim yaʿdilūn

6:151

۞ قُلۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ أَتۡلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمۡ عَلَیۡكُمۡۖ أَلَّا تُشۡرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَیۡءࣰاۖ وَبِٱلۡوَ ٰلِدَیۡنِ إِحۡسَـٰنࣰاۖ وَلَا تَقۡتُلُوۤا۟ أَوۡلَـٰدَكُم مِّنۡ إِمۡلَـٰقࣲ نَّحۡنُ نَرۡزُقُكُمۡ وَإِیَّاهُمۡۖ وَلَا تَقۡرَبُوا۟ ٱلۡفَوَ ٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنۡهَا وَمَا بَطَنَۖ وَلَا تَقۡتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفۡسَ ٱلَّتِی حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٥١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Come, and I will cite what Allah has prohibited for you. Do not equate partners with Him. Honor your parents. Do not kill children because of your financial situation as We will provide for you and for (your babies). Do not even consider shameful deeds, whether publicly or privately. Do not destroy life that Allah has made sacred, unless it is necessary to maintain justice and order. Thus does He command you so you may learn good judgment.

qul taʿālaw atlu mā ḥarrama rabbukum ʿalaykum allā tush'rikū bihi shayan wabil-wālidayni iḥ'sānan walā taqtulū awlādakum min im'lāqin naḥnu narzuqukum wa-iyyāhum walā taqrabū l-fawāḥisha mā ẓahara min'hā wamā baṭana walā taqtulū l-nafsa allatī ḥarrama l-lahu illā bil-ḥaqi dhālikum waṣṣākum bihi laʿallakum taʿqilūn

6:152

وَلَا تَقۡرَبُوا۟ مَالَ ٱلۡیَتِیمِ إِلَّا بِٱلَّتِی هِیَ أَحۡسَنُ حَتَّىٰ یَبۡلُغَ أَشُدَّهُۥۚ وَأَوۡفُوا۟ ٱلۡكَیۡلَ وَٱلۡمِیزَانَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِۖ لَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا وُسۡعَهَاۖ وَإِذَا قُلۡتُمۡ فَٱعۡدِلُوا۟ وَلَوۡ كَانَ ذَا قُرۡبَىٰۖ وَبِعَهۡدِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡفُوا۟ۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝١٥٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

“Do not advance toward the orphan’s property, unless you intend to improve it, until he/she attains an age of competence. Measure and weigh fairly. No burden do We place on any soul except what it can bear. Whenever you speak, speak truthfully even if a relative is involved. Fulfill the Covenant of Allah. Thus does He command you so you may remember.

walā taqrabū māla l-yatīmi illā bi-allatī hiya aḥsanu ḥattā yablugha ashuddahu wa-awfū l-kayla wal-mīzāna bil-qis'ṭi lā nukallifu nafsan illā wus'ʿahā wa-idhā qul'tum fa-iʿ'dilū walaw kāna dhā qur'bā wabiʿahdi l-lahi awfū dhālikum waṣṣākum bihi laʿallakum tadhakkarūn

6:153

وَأَنَّ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطِی مُسۡتَقِیمࣰا فَٱتَّبِعُوهُۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ ٱلسُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمۡ عَن سَبِیلِهِۦۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٥٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

“This is my way leading straight. Follow it. Do not follow paths that mislead you from His path. Thus does He command you so you may be righteous.”

wa-anna hādhā ṣirāṭī mus'taqīman fa-ittabiʿūhu walā tattabiʿū l-subula fatafarraqa bikum ʿan sabīlihi dhālikum waṣṣākum bihi laʿallakum tattaqūn

6:154

ثُمَّ ءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ تَمَامًا عَلَى ٱلَّذِیۤ أَحۡسَنَ وَتَفۡصِیلࣰا لِّكُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ وَهُدࣰى وَرَحۡمَةࣰ لَّعَلَّهُم بِلِقَاۤءِ رَبِّهِمۡ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٥٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Again, We gave Moses the Book in completion to those who would live righteously. It explained everything and was a guide and a mercy so they would believe in the meeting with their Lord.

thumma ātaynā mūsā l-kitāba tamāman ʿalā alladhī aḥsana watafṣīlan likulli shayin wahudan waraḥmatan laʿallahum biliqāi rabbihim yu'minūn

6:155

وَهَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ مُبَارَكࣱ فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ ۝١٥٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

This [Qur’an] is a blessed Book that We have revealed. Follow it and live righteously so you may receive mercy.

wahādhā kitābun anzalnāhu mubārakun fa-ittabiʿūhu wa-ittaqū laʿallakum tur'ḥamūn

6:156

أَن تَقُولُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَاۤ أُنزِلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبُ عَلَىٰ طَاۤىِٕفَتَیۡنِ مِن قَبۡلِنَا وَإِن كُنَّا عَن دِرَاسَتِهِمۡ لَغَـٰفِلِینَ ۝١٥٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Now you cannot say, “Scriptures were sent to two peoples before our time, and we never knew what they learned.”

an taqūlū innamā unzila l-kitābu ʿalā ṭāifatayni min qablinā wa-in kunnā ʿan dirāsatihim laghāfilīn

6:157

أَوۡ تَقُولُوا۟ لَوۡ أَنَّاۤ أُنزِلَ عَلَیۡنَا ٱلۡكِتَـٰبُ لَكُنَّاۤ أَهۡدَىٰ مِنۡهُمۡۚ فَقَدۡ جَاۤءَكُم بَیِّنَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَهُدࣰى وَرَحۡمَةࣱۚ فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَّبَ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَصَدَفَ عَنۡهَاۗ سَنَجۡزِی ٱلَّذِینَ یَصۡدِفُونَ عَنۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا سُوۤءَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَصۡدِفُونَ ۝١٥٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

You cannot say, “If the Book had been sent to us, we would have followed its guidance better than they did.” Now clarification has come to you from your Lord. It is a guide and a mercy. Who could sin greater than one who rejects Allah’s signs and turns away from them? Eventually, We will compensate those who rejected Our signs. We will give them a dreadful punishment because they turned away.

aw taqūlū law annā unzila ʿalaynā l-kitābu lakunnā ahdā min'hum faqad jāakum bayyinatun min rabbikum wahudan waraḥmatun faman aẓlamu mimman kadhaba biāyāti l-lahi waṣadafa ʿanhā sanajzī alladhīna yaṣdifūna ʿan āyātinā sūa l-ʿadhābi bimā kānū yaṣdifūn

6:158

هَلۡ یَنظُرُونَ إِلَّاۤ أَن تَأۡتِیَهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ أَوۡ یَأۡتِیَ رَبُّكَ أَوۡ یَأۡتِیَ بَعۡضُ ءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّكَۗ یَوۡمَ یَأۡتِی بَعۡضُ ءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّكَ لَا یَنفَعُ نَفۡسًا إِیمَـٰنُهَا لَمۡ تَكُنۡ ءَامَنَتۡ مِن قَبۡلُ أَوۡ كَسَبَتۡ فِیۤ إِیمَـٰنِهَا خَیۡرࣰاۗ قُلِ ٱنتَظِرُوۤا۟ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ ۝١٥٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

Are they waiting to see if angels, or the Lord, or certain signs of the Lord come to them? The day that certain signs do come, it won’t do any good for any soul to believe in them then if it didn’t believe before and did not earn goodness through faith. Say, “Wait; we are certainly waiting.”

hal yanẓurūna illā an tatiyahumu l-malāikatu aw yatiya rabbuka aw yatiya baʿḍu āyāti rabbika yawma yatī baʿḍu āyāti rabbika lā yanfaʿu nafsan īmānuhā lam takun āmanat min qablu aw kasabat fī īmānihā khayran quli intaẓirū innā muntaẓirūn

6:159

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ فَرَّقُوا۟ دِینَهُمۡ وَكَانُوا۟ شِیَعࣰا لَّسۡتَ مِنۡهُمۡ فِی شَیۡءٍۚ إِنَّمَاۤ أَمۡرُهُمۡ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ یُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝١٥٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Truly, as for those who have divided their religion into sects, do not participate with them. Their matter is with Allah. He will tell them what they did.

inna alladhīna farraqū dīnahum wakānū shiyaʿan lasta min'hum fī shayin innamā amruhum ilā l-lahi thumma yunabbi-uhum bimā kānū yafʿalūn

6:160

مَن جَاۤءَ بِٱلۡحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ عَشۡرُ أَمۡثَالِهَاۖ وَمَن جَاۤءَ بِٱلسَّیِّئَةِ فَلَا یُجۡزَىٰۤ إِلَّا مِثۡلَهَا وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝١٦٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

Whoever does a good deed will have ten times as much to his/her credit. Whoever does an evil deed will be repaid according to his/her sin. No injustice will be done to anybody.

man jāa bil-ḥasanati falahu ʿashru amthālihā waman jāa bil-sayi-ati falā yuj'zā illā mith'lahā wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn

6:161

قُلۡ إِنَّنِی هَدَىٰنِی رَبِّیۤ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ دِینࣰا قِیَمࣰا مِّلَّةَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ حَنِیفࣰاۚ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝١٦١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Truly, my Lord has guided me to a way that is straight, a religion of righteousness. It is the religion of Abraham who was true in faith. He did not add gods [with God].”

qul innanī hadānī rabbī ilā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmin dīnan qiyaman millata ib'rāhīma ḥanīfan wamā kāna mina l-mush'rikīn

6:162

قُلۡ إِنَّ صَلَاتِی وَنُسُكِی وَمَحۡیَایَ وَمَمَاتِی لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٦٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Truly, my prayer, my service of sacrifice, my life, and my death are for Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds.

qul inna ṣalātī wanusukī wamaḥyāya wamamātī lillahi rabbi l-ʿālamīn

6:163

لَا شَرِیكَ لَهُۥۖ وَبِذَ ٰلِكَ أُمِرۡتُ وَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝١٦٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

No partner does He have: this I am commanded, and I [Muhammed] am the first of those to bow to His will.”

lā sharīka lahu wabidhālika umir'tu wa-anā awwalu l-mus'limīn

6:164

قُلۡ أَغَیۡرَ ٱللَّهِ أَبۡغِی رَبࣰّا وَهُوَ رَبُّ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲۚ وَلَا تَكۡسِبُ كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ إِلَّا عَلَیۡهَاۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةࣱ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَیُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ فِیهِ تَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝١٦٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say, “Should I seek, as my Lord, another besides Allah when He is Lord of all? Every soul earns only for itself, and no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. Your final goal is to your Lord. He will inform you of the things about which you dispute.

qul aghayra l-lahi abghī rabban wahuwa rabbu kulli shayin walā taksibu kullu nafsin illā ʿalayhā walā taziru wāziratun wiz'ra ukh'rā thumma ilā rabbikum marjiʿukum fayunabbi-ukum bimā kuntum fīhi takhtalifūn

6:165

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَكُمۡ خَلَـٰۤىِٕفَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَرَفَعَ بَعۡضَكُمۡ فَوۡقَ بَعۡضࣲ دَرَجَـٰتࣲ لِّیَبۡلُوَكُمۡ فِی مَاۤ ءَاتَىٰكُمۡۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ سَرِیعُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَغَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمُۢ ۝١٦٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

“It is He who has made you representatives, inheritors of Earth. He has raised you in ranks, some above others so that He may test you in the gifts He has given you. Your Lord is quick in punishment, yet He is indeed Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

wahuwa alladhī jaʿalakum khalāifa l-arḍi warafaʿa baʿḍakum fawqa baʿḍin darajātin liyabluwakum fī mā ātākum inna rabbaka sarīʿu l-ʿiqābi wa-innahu laghafūrun raḥīmu
