1 Truth of the Resurrection
75:1 ›
۞ لَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِیَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ ۝١
Amatul Rahman Omar
Nay, (it is not like what you imagine,) I swear by the Day of Resurrection
lā uq'simu biyawmi l-qiyāmat
75:2 ›
وَلَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ۝٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
And I swear by the self-reproaching soul (at the doing of an evil deed as an evidence to the truth of Final Resurrection)
walā uq'simu bil-nafsi l-lawāmat
75:3 ›
أَیَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ۝٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
Does a human-being think that We will not assemble his bones? (We will indeed.
ayaḥsabu l-insānu allan najmaʿa ʿiẓāmah
75:4 ›
بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِینَ عَلَىٰۤ أَن نُّسَوِّیَ بَنَانَهُۥ ۝٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
No doubt, We have the power to reproduce him to a complete form even to the very tips of his fingers
balā qādirīna ʿalā an nusawwiya banānah
75:5 ›
بَلۡ یُرِیدُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ لِیَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ۝٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
(His denial of Resurrection is because) a human being likes to continue in his evil ways in (the life) that is before him (without fearing the consequences of his deeds)
bal yurīdu l-insānu liyafjura amāmah
75:6 ›
یَسۡءَلُ أَیَّانَ یَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ ۝٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
He asks (with contempt and doubt), `When shall the Day of Resurrection come to be?
yasalu ayyāna yawmu l-qiyāmat
75:7 ›
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ ۝٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
(It shall be the day) when the sight (of a person) is confused (and he is confounded for being unable to find the right course)
fa-idhā bariqa l-baṣar
75:8 ›
وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُ ۝٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
And the moon will eclipse
wakhasafa l-qamar
75:9 ›
وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ ۝٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
And the sun and the moon will be brought together
wajumiʿa l-shamsu wal-qamar
75:10 ›
یَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ أَیۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ ۝١٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
The human being shall say on that day, `Whither to flee?
yaqūlu l-insānu yawma-idhin ayna l-mafar
75:11 ›
كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ۝١١
Amatul Rahman Omar
To nowhere at all, there is no refuge
kallā lā wazar
75:12 ›
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ ۝١٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
Upon that day the recourse shall be to your Lord
ilā rabbika yawma-idhin l-mus'taqar
75:13 ›
یُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ یَوۡمَىِٕذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ۝١٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
Upon that day every soul shall be informed about all his commissions and omissions
yunabba-u l-insānu yawma-idhin bimā qaddama wa-akhar
75:14 ›
بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِیرَةࣱ ۝١٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
Rather a human being is himself well-aware of his own self (and so himself is a witness against his own soul)
bali l-insānu ʿalā nafsihi baṣīratu
75:15 ›
وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِیرَهُۥ ۝١٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
(No excuse will be accepted from him) even though he puts forth his (all possible) excuses, (to prove his innocence)
walaw alqā maʿādhīrah
75:16 ›
لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦۤ ۝١٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Prophet! when We reveal the Qur'an) do not move your tongue (with a mind) to repeat (this revelation in order to commit it to your memory) hurriedly
lā tuḥarrik bihi lisānaka litaʿjala bih
75:17 ›
إِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا جَمۡعَهُۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥ ۝١٧

The responsibility of its collection and its arrangement lies on Us
inna ʿalaynā jamʿahu waqur'ānah
75:18 ›
فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُۥ ۝١٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
When We recite it, then follow its recitation
fa-idhā qaranāhu fa-ittabiʿ qur'ānah
75:19 ›
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا بَیَانَهُۥ ۝١٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
The responsibility of explaining it lies again on Us
thumma inna ʿalaynā bayānah
75:20 ›
كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ ۝٢٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
Behold! you people love the present transient (life)
kallā bal tuḥibbūna l-ʿājilat
75:21 ›
وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةَ ۝٢١
Amatul Rahman Omar
And neglect the Hereafter
watadharūna l-ākhirat
75:22 ›
وُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ نَّاضِرَةٌ ۝٢٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
On that day some faces will be fresh, beaming and bright
wujūhun yawma-idhin nāḍiratu
75:23 ›
إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةࣱ ۝٢٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
Looking (absorbed in the vision of) their Lord
ilā rabbihā nāẓiratu
75:24 ›
وَوُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذِۭ بَاسِرَةࣱ ۝٢٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
And also on that day some faces will look gloomy and dismal
wawujūhun yawma-idhin bāsiratu
75:25 ›
تَظُنُّ أَن یُفۡعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةࣱ ۝٢٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
Because they will realise that a back breaking calamity is about to befall them
taẓunnu an yuf'ʿala bihā fāqiratu
75:26 ›
كَلَّاۤ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِیَ ۝٢٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Behold! when it (- the soul of a dying person) reaches the throat (to leave his body in death
kallā idhā balaghati l-tarāqiy
75:27 ›
وَقِیلَ مَنۡۜ رَاقࣲ ۝٢٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And (when those around the dying person say), `Who is the physician to cure and save him?
waqīla man rāqi
75:28 ›
وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡفِرَاقُ ۝٢٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
And he himself realizes that it is the (time of) parting
waẓanna annahu l-firāq
75:29 ›
وَٱلۡتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ ۝٢٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
And one shank rubs against the other (in death agony) and one distress will be combined with another distress (for the departing soul)
wal-tafati l-sāqu bil-sāq
75:30 ›
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ ٱلۡمَسَاقُ ۝٣٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
On that day people will be driven towards your Lord (to reap the fruit of the deeds done in this life)
ilā rabbika yawma-idhin l-masāq
2 The Dead Rise
75:31 ›
فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ۝٣١
Amatul Rahman Omar
For this person (being unmindful of the consequences) neither accepted the truth nor offered Prayer
falā ṣaddaqa walā ṣall
75:32 ›
وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ۝٣٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
Rather he cried lies (to the truth and the Prophet) and turned away (refusing to obey His commandments)
walākin kadhaba watawall
75:33 ›
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهِۦ یَتَمَطَّىٰۤ ۝٣٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then he went to his kinsfolk strutting along (in false pride)
thumma dhahaba ilā ahlihi yatamaṭṭ
75:34 ›
أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰ ۝٣٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
Woe be to you! then woe upon woe (in this very life)
awlā laka fa-awl
75:35 ›
ثُمَّ أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰۤ ۝٣٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
Again (in the Hereafter) woe be to you, then woe upon woe
thumma awlā laka fa-awl
75:36 ›
أَیَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَن یُتۡرَكَ سُدًى ۝٣٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Does a person think that he will be left alone without purpose
ayaḥsabu l-insānu an yut'raka suda
75:37 ›
أَلَمۡ یَكُ نُطۡفَةࣰ مِّن مَّنِیࣲّ یُمۡنَىٰ ۝٣٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
Was he not a small drop of semen ejected (into a proper place)
alam yaku nuṭ'fatan min maniyyin yum'n
75:38 ›
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةࣰ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ۝٣٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Which drop) then became a clot of blood, then He fashioned (him through various stages) and perfected (him in his make)
thumma kāna ʿalaqatan fakhalaqa fasaww
75:39 ›
فَجَعَلَ مِنۡهُ ٱلزَّوۡجَیۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰۤ ۝٣٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then He made of him a pair, the male and the female
fajaʿala min'hu l-zawjayni l-dhakara wal-unth
75:40 ›
أَلَیۡسَ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰۤ أَن یُحۡـِۧیَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ ۝٤٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
Has not such a One (Who creates from an inanimate source) the power of raising the (physically and spiritually) dead to life
alaysa dhālika biqādirin ʿalā an yuḥ'yiya l-mawt
