The Rising of the Dead, Resurrection — Dr Mohammad Tahir Ul Qadri Translation

75:1

۞ لَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِیَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ ۝١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

I swear by the Day of Resurrection

lā uq'simu biyawmi l-qiyāmat

75:2

وَلَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ۝٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And I swear by the blaming self, reproaching (itself for evil deeds)

walā uq'simu bil-nafsi l-lawāmat

75:3

أَیَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ۝٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Does man think We shall not at all collect his bones (which will decompose into dust particles after his death)

ayaḥsabu l-insānu allan najmaʿa ʿiẓāmah

75:4

بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِینَ عَلَىٰۤ أَن نُّسَوِّیَ بَنَانَهُۥ ۝٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Yes, of course! We have also the power to restore and set right even his finger joints and finger tips

balā qādirīna ʿalā an nusawwiya banānah

75:5

بَلۡ یُرِیدُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ لِیَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ۝٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Yet man still wants to continue committing sins also (in the life to come)

bal yurīdu l-insānu liyafjura amāmah

75:6

یَسۡءَلُ أَیَّانَ یَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ ۝٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

He asks (scornfully): ‘When is the Day of Resurrection?

yasalu ayyāna yawmu l-qiyāmat

75:7

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ ۝٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

But when the eyes will be dazzled

fa-idhā bariqa l-baṣar

75:8

وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُ ۝٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the moon will be eclipsed

wakhasafa l-qamar

75:9

وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ ۝٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the sun and the moon will be fused (i.e., darkened) together

wajumiʿa l-shamsu wal-qamar

75:10

یَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ أَیۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ ۝١٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

On that Day man will cry out: ‘Where to flee away?

yaqūlu l-insānu yawma-idhin ayna l-mafar

75:11

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ۝١١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

No indeed! There is no place of refuge

kallā lā wazar

75:12

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ ۝١٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The place of refuge and repose that Day will be with your Lord alone

ilā rabbika yawma-idhin l-mus'taqar

75:13

یُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ یَوۡمَىِٕذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ۝١٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

That Day man will be informed of those (deeds) which he sent forward and those (repercussions) which he left behind (after his death)

yunabba-u l-insānu yawma-idhin bimā qaddama wa-akhar

75:14

بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِیرَةࣱ ۝١٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

In truth, man will (himself) be aware of (the affairs of) his self

bali l-insānu ʿalā nafsihi baṣīratu

75:15

وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِیرَهُۥ ۝١٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Even though he will offer all his excuses

walaw alqā maʿādhīrah

75:16

لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦۤ ۝١٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(O Beloved!) Do not move your tongue in a hurry (to learn the Qur’an by heart when it is revealed to you)

lā tuḥarrik bihi lisānaka litaʿjala bih

75:17

إِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا جَمۡعَهُۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥ ۝١٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Assuredly, upon Us rests its collection and preservation (in your breast) and its recitation (by your tongue)

inna ʿalaynā jamʿahu waqur'ānah

75:18

فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُۥ ۝١٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So when We complete its recitation (by the tongue of Jibril [Gabriel]), then follow that recitation

fa-idhā qaranāhu fa-ittabiʿ qur'ānah

75:19

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا بَیَانَهُۥ ۝١٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then surely upon Us is the clear exposition (of its implications)

thumma inna ʿalaynā bayānah

75:20

كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ ۝٢٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The truth is, (O disbelievers,) that you love (the world) which you can readily gain

kallā bal tuḥibbūna l-ʿājilat

75:21

وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةَ ۝٢١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And you have left aside the Hereafter

watadharūna l-ākhirat

75:22

وُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ نَّاضِرَةٌ ۝٢٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Many faces will be fresh and in full bloom that Day

wujūhun yawma-idhin nāḍiratu

75:23

إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةࣱ ۝٢٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Beholding (the enchanting radiance and beauty of) their Lord (unveiled)

ilā rabbihā nāẓiratu

75:24

وَوُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذِۭ بَاسِرَةࣱ ۝٢٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And many faces will be deformed (depressed and dark) that Day

wawujūhun yawma-idhin bāsiratu

75:25

تَظُنُّ أَن یُفۡعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةࣱ ۝٢٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Thinking that they will be subjected to such a harsh treatment that will break their backbones

taẓunnu an yuf'ʿala bihā fāqiratu

75:26

كَلَّاۤ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِیَ ۝٢٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

No indeed! When the soul reaches the throat

kallā idhā balaghati l-tarāqiy

75:27

وَقِیلَ مَنۡۜ رَاقࣲ ۝٢٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And it is said: ‘Who can (now) treat him with magic (to cure him)?

waqīla man rāqi

75:28

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡفِرَاقُ ۝٢٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (the departing soul) comes to realize that (now) is the hour of parting (with all)

waẓanna annahu l-firāq

75:29

وَٱلۡتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ ۝٢٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And one leg clings to the other

wal-tafati l-sāqu bil-sāq

75:30

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ ٱلۡمَسَاقُ ۝٣٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Towards your Lord is the departure that Day

ilā rabbika yawma-idhin l-masāq

75:31

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ۝٣١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So (how ill-fated is he that) he neither affirmed (what the Messenger said) nor offered Prayer

falā ṣaddaqa walā ṣall

75:32

وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ۝٣٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Rather he kept belying and turning away

walākin kadhaba watawall

75:33

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهِۦ یَتَمَطَّىٰۤ ۝٣٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then he went off towards his family in arrogance

thumma dhahaba ilā ahlihi yatamaṭṭ

75:34

أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰ ۝٣٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Woe to you (when dying), then woe to you (in the grave)

awlā laka fa-awl

75:35

ثُمَّ أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰۤ ۝٣٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then again woe to you (on the Last Day), then woe to you (in Hell)

thumma awlā laka fa-awl

75:36

أَیَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَن یُتۡرَكَ سُدًى ۝٣٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Does man think that he will be left for nothing (without any reckoning)

ayaḥsabu l-insānu an yut'raka suda

75:37

أَلَمۡ یَكُ نُطۡفَةࣰ مِّن مَّنِیࣲّ یُمۡنَىٰ ۝٣٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Was he not (in his beginning) a sperm drop ejaculated (into the woman’s womb)

alam yaku nuṭ'fatan min maniyyin yum'n

75:38

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةࣰ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ۝٣٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then it developed into a hanging mass (clinging to the womb like a nest). Then He created (in it the preliminary form of all the limbs of the body). Then He set (them) right

thumma kāna ʿalaqatan fakhalaqa fasaww

75:39

فَجَعَلَ مِنۡهُ ٱلزَّوۡجَیۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰۤ ۝٣٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then He made from the same sperm drop two genders: male and female

fajaʿala min'hu l-zawjayni l-dhakara wal-unth

75:40

أَلَیۡسَ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰۤ أَن یُحۡـِۧیَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ ۝٤٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then has He not the power to give life to the dead again

alaysa dhālika biqādirin ʿalā an yuḥ'yiya l-mawt
