1 Attainment of Perfection

هَلۡ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنِ حِینࣱ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهۡرِ لَمۡ یَكُن شَیۡءࣰا مَّذۡكُورًا ۝١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, there has passed over man a period of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning

hal atā ʿalā l-insāni ḥīnun mina l-dahri lam yakun shayan madhkūra

إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ أَمۡشَاجࣲ نَّبۡتَلِیهِ فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ سَمِیعَۢا بَصِیرًا ۝٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, We created man from a fertilized ovum that We keep turning and examining (from one stage to the next till birth). So We have made him (in the order of) hearing (then) seeing

innā khalaqnā l-insāna min nuṭ'fatin amshājin nabtalīhi fajaʿalnāhu samīʿan baṣīra

إِنَّا هَدَیۡنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِیلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرࣰا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا ۝٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, We also showed him the way (to understanding and insight for distinguishing between the truth and falsehood) whether he (now) becomes thankful or continues to be ungrateful

innā hadaynāhu l-sabīla immā shākiran wa-immā kafūra

إِنَّاۤ أَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ سَلَـٰسِلَا۟ وَأَغۡلَـٰلࣰا وَسَعِیرًا ۝٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains (for the feet), neck-fetters and the Blazing Fire (of Hell)

innā aʿtadnā lil'kāfirīna salāsilā wa-aghlālan wasaʿīra

إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ یَشۡرَبُونَ مِن كَأۡسࣲ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا ۝٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, the sincerely devoted and obedient will drink from the cups (of the holy drink) mixed with kafur (to enhance its aroma, colour and taste)

inna l-abrāra yashrabūna min kasin kāna mizājuhā kāfūra

عَیۡنࣰا یَشۡرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ یُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفۡجِیرࣰا ۝٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Kafur is) a spring (in Paradise) that (the privileged) servants of Allah (i.e., Awliya’ Allah) will drink from, and will (also) make it flow to wherever they will desire in the form of small brooks (to make others drink of it)

yūfūna bil-nadhri wayakhāfūna yawman kāna sharruhu mus'taṭīra

یُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذۡرِ وَیَخَافُونَ یَوۡمࣰا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسۡتَطِیرࣰا ۝٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(These privileged servants of Allah are those) who fulfil their vows and keep fearing that Day whose severity spreads afar

Yoofoona bialnnathri wayakhafoona yawman kana sharruhu mustateeran

وَیُطۡعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسۡكِینࣰا وَیَتِیمࣰا وَأَسِیرًا ۝٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And they give (their own) food, in deep love of Allah, to the needy, the orphan and prisoner (out of sacrifice, despite their own desire and need for it)

wayuṭ'ʿimūna l-ṭaʿāma ʿalā ḥubbihi mis'kīnan wayatīman wa-asīra

إِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُكُمۡ لِوَجۡهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِیدُ مِنكُمۡ جَزَاۤءࣰ وَلَا شُكُورًا ۝٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(And say:) ‘We are feeding you only to please Allah. We do not seek any recompense from you nor (wish for) any thanks

innamā nuṭ'ʿimukum liwajhi l-lahi lā nurīdu minkum jazāan walā shukūra

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا یَوۡمًا عَبُوسࣰا قَمۡطَرِیرࣰا ۝١٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

We fear from our Lord the Day which will make (the faces) look very dark (and) ugly.

innā nakhāfu min rabbinā yawman ʿabūsan qamṭarīra

فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡیَوۡمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمۡ نَضۡرَةࣰ وَسُرُورࣰا ۝١١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So Allah will save them from the terror of that Day (for their fear of Allah) and will grant them freshness, bloom and blush (on their faces) and ecstasy and delight (in their hearts)

fawaqāhumu l-lahu sharra dhālika l-yawmi walaqqāhum naḍratan wasurūra

وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةࣰ وَحَرِیرࣰا ۝١٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And will bless them with Gardens (to live in) and silky clothes (to wear), a reward for their patience

wajazāhum bimā ṣabarū jannatan waḥarīra

مُّتَّكِءِینَ فِیهَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَاۤىِٕكِۖ لَا یَرَوۡنَ فِیهَا شَمۡسࣰا وَلَا زَمۡهَرِیرࣰا ۝١٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Reclining in it against cushions on raised couches, they will find there neither intense cold nor heat

muttakiīna fīhā ʿalā l-arāiki lā yarawna fīhā shamsan walā zamharīra

وَدَانِیَةً عَلَیۡهِمۡ ظِلَـٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتۡ قُطُوفُهَا تَذۡلِیلࣰا ۝١٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the shades (of trees in Paradise) will close upon them, and the bunches of their (fruits) will be hanging low

wadāniyatan ʿalayhim ẓilāluhā wadhullilat quṭūfuhā tadhlīla

وَیُطَافُ عَلَیۡهِم بِءَانِیَةࣲ مِّن فِضَّةࣲ وَأَكۡوَابࣲ كَانَتۡ قَوَارِیرَا۠ ۝١٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (the servants) will go round them with vessels of silver and (pure and clean) goblets of shining glass

wayuṭāfu ʿalayhim biāniyatin min fiḍḍatin wa-akwābin kānat qawārīr

قَوَارِیرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةࣲ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقۡدِیرࣰا ۝١٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And glasses made of silver which they will have filled with exact measures (according to everyone’s desire)

qawārīrā min fiḍḍatin qaddarūhā taqdīra

وَیُسۡقَوۡنَ فِیهَا كَأۡسࣰا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِیلًا ۝١٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And they will be made to drink there cups of (the holy drink) mixed with Zanjabil

wayus'qawna fīhā kasan kāna mizājuhā zanjabīla

عَیۡنࣰا فِیهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلۡسَبِیلࣰا ۝١٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Zanjabil is) a spring in this (Paradise) named Salsabil

wayaṭūfu ʿalayhim wil'dānun mukhalladūna idhā ra-aytahum ḥasib'tahum lu'lu-an manthūra

۞ وَیَطُوفُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَ ٰنࣱ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَیۡتَهُمۡ حَسِبۡتَهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤࣰا مَّنثُورࣰا ۝١٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And going round them will be (innocent) adolescents who will remain ever-young. When you will see them, you will consider them as scattered pearls

Wayatoofu AAalayhim wildanun mukhalladoona itha raaytahum hasibtahum lu/lu-an manthooran

وَإِذَا رَأَیۡتَ ثَمَّ رَأَیۡتَ نَعِیمࣰا وَمُلۡكࣰا كَبِیرًا ۝٢٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when you will look (at Paradise), you will find blessings (in abundance) and a mighty kingdom (all around)

wa-idhā ra-ayta thamma ra-ayta naʿīman wamul'kan kabīra

عَـٰلِیَهُمۡ ثِیَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضۡرࣱ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقࣱۖ وَحُلُّوۤا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةࣲ وَسَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ شَرَابࣰا طَهُورًا ۝٢١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

They will be clad in green, fine silk and rich brocade attire, and they will be made to wear silver bracelets, and their Lord will make them drink a holy beverage

inna hādhā kāna lakum jazāan wakāna saʿyukum mashkūra

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمۡ جَزَاۤءࣰ وَكَانَ سَعۡیُكُم مَّشۡكُورًا ۝٢٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, that will be your reward and your hard work is acknowledged

Inna hatha kana lakum jazaan wakana saAAyukum mashkooran

2 Another Generation raised

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَیۡكَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَنزِیلࣰا ۝٢٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, We have revealed the Qur’an to you piecemeal

innā naḥnu nazzalnā ʿalayka l-qur'āna tanzīla

فَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعۡ مِنۡهُمۡ ءَاثِمًا أَوۡ كَفُورࣰا ۝٢٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So (continue to) be patient for the sake of your Lord’s command and do not give your ear to any liar, sinner or disbeliever or thankless person from amongst them

fa-iṣ'bir liḥuk'mi rabbika walā tuṭiʿ min'hum āthiman aw kafūra

وَٱذۡكُرِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ بُكۡرَةࣰ وَأَصِیلࣰا ۝٢٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And remember the Name of your Lord morning and evening

wa-udh'kuri is'ma rabbika buk'ratan wa-aṣīla

وَمِنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ فَٱسۡجُدۡ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحۡهُ لَیۡلࣰا طَوِیلًا ۝٢٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And prostrate yourself before His presence for some hours of the night, and glorify Him during (the rest of) the long hours of the night

wamina al-layli fa-us'jud lahu wasabbiḥ'hu laylan ṭawīla

إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ یُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ وَیَذَرُونَ وَرَاۤءَهُمۡ یَوۡمࣰا ثَقِیلࣰا ۝٢٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, these (world-mongers) love the gains that are achievable right away. And they have put behind their backs (the remembrance of) the very hard Day

inna hāulāi yuḥibbūna l-ʿājilata wayadharūna warāahum yawman thaqīla

نَّحۡنُ خَلَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَشَدَدۡنَاۤ أَسۡرَهُمۡۖ وَإِذَا شِئۡنَا بَدَّلۡنَاۤ أَمۡثَـٰلَهُمۡ تَبۡدِیلًا ۝٢٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(They do not realize that) We alone have created them and have made their every joint strong, and We can replace them whenever We may please with the people like them

naḥnu khalaqnāhum washadadnā asrahum wa-idhā shi'nā baddalnā amthālahum tabdīla

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذۡكِرَةࣱۖ فَمَن شَاۤءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِیلࣰا ۝٢٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, this (Qur’an) is a Reminder. So whoever desires may adopt the way to (reach) his Lord

inna hādhihi tadhkiratun faman shāa ittakhadha ilā rabbihi sabīla

وَمَا تَشَاۤءُونَ إِلَّاۤ أَن یَشَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِیمًا حَكِیمࣰا ۝٣٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And you cannot wish anything yourselves except what Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, Most Wise

wamā tashāūna illā an yashāa l-lahu inna l-laha kāna ʿalīman ḥakīma

یُدۡخِلُ مَن یَشَاۤءُ فِی رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِیمَۢا ۝٣١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

He admits whom He wills to (the circle of) His mercy, and He has prepared a grievous torment for the wrongdoers

yud'khilu man yashāu fī raḥmatihi wal-ẓālimīna aʿadda lahum ʿadhāban alīma
