1 Truth of the Resurrection
75:1 ›
۞ لَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِیَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ ۝١
Munir Mezyed
Nay, I swear by the ‘Day of Resurrection’!
lā uq'simu biyawmi l-qiyāmat
75:2 ›
وَلَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ۝٢
Munir Mezyed
Nay! I swear by the reproachful- ‘Human Self’
walā uq'simu bil-nafsi l-lawāmat
75:3 ›
أَیَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ۝٣
Munir Mezyed
Does man think that We are incapable of constructing his bones?
ayaḥsabu l-insānu allan najmaʿa ʿiẓāmah
75:4 ›
بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِینَ عَلَىٰۤ أَن نُّسَوِّیَ بَنَانَهُۥ ۝٤
Munir Mezyed
Yes indeed; We are capable of shaping again his own fingertips.
balā qādirīna ʿalā an nusawwiya banānah
75:5 ›
بَلۡ یُرِیدُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ لِیَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ۝٥
Munir Mezyed
But man desires to continue in sin.
bal yurīdu l-insānu liyafjura amāmah
75:6 ›
یَسۡءَلُ أَیَّانَ یَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ ۝٦
Munir Mezyed
He asks: "When will be the ‘Day of Resurrection’?"
yasalu ayyāna yawmu l-qiyāmat
75:7 ›
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ ۝٧
Munir Mezyed
When the vision will be dazzled,
fa-idhā bariqa l-baṣar
75:8 ›
وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُ ۝٨
Munir Mezyed
And the moon will be eclipsed,
wakhasafa l-qamar
75:9 ›
وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ ۝٩
Munir Mezyed
And the sun and the moon will be brought together,
wajumiʿa l-shamsu wal-qamar
75:10 ›
یَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ أَیۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ ۝١٠
Munir Mezyed
Man will say on that day: "Whither to flee?"
yaqūlu l-insānu yawma-idhin ayna l-mafar
75:11 ›
كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ۝١١
Munir Mezyed
Nay, there will be no refuge.
kallā lā wazar
75:12 ›
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ ۝١٢
Munir Mezyed
Unto your Lord that day is the refuge.
ilā rabbika yawma-idhin l-mus'taqar
75:13 ›
یُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ یَوۡمَىِٕذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ۝١٣
Munir Mezyed
Man will be informed, on that day, of what He has sent forward, and of what he left behind.
yunabba-u l-insānu yawma-idhin bimā qaddama wa-akhar
75:14 ›
بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِیرَةࣱ ۝١٤
Munir Mezyed
Nay, man is an intelligible evidence against himself,
bali l-insānu ʿalā nafsihi baṣīratu
75:15 ›
وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِیرَهُۥ ۝١٥
Munir Mezyed
Even if he offers his excuses.
walaw alqā maʿādhīrah
75:16 ›
لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦۤ ۝١٦
Munir Mezyed
(O' ‘Muhammad’), move not your tongue concerning (the ‘Qurʾān’) to make haste therewith.
lā tuḥarrik bihi lisānaka litaʿjala bih
75:17 ›
إِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا جَمۡعَهُۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥ ۝١٧
Munir Mezyed
It is incumbent on Us to collect and to promulgate it.
inna ʿalaynā jamʿahu waqur'ānah
75:18 ›
فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُۥ ۝١٨
Munir Mezyed
When We recite it, follow its recitation attentively.
fa-idhā qaranāhu fa-ittabiʿ qur'ānah
75:19 ›
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا بَیَانَهُۥ ۝١٩
Munir Mezyed
Afterwards, It will be incumbent on Us to explain it to you.
thumma inna ʿalaynā bayānah
75:20 ›
كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ ۝٢٠
Munir Mezyed
Nay, indeed, but you are in love with this transient life,
kallā bal tuḥibbūna l-ʿājilat
75:21 ›
وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةَ ۝٢١
Munir Mezyed
And you show no interest in the Hereafter.
watadharūna l-ākhirat
75:22 ›
وُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ نَّاضِرَةٌ ۝٢٢
Munir Mezyed
Faces on that day will be glowing brightly,
wujūhun yawma-idhin nāḍiratu
75:23 ›
إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةࣱ ۝٢٣
Munir Mezyed
Looking steadily and intently on their Lord!
ilā rabbihā nāẓiratu
75:24 ›
وَوُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذِۭ بَاسِرَةࣱ ۝٢٤
Munir Mezyed
Faces on that day will be gloomy,
wawujūhun yawma-idhin bāsiratu
75:25 ›
تَظُنُّ أَن یُفۡعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةࣱ ۝٢٥
Munir Mezyed
Thinking that a crushing calamity is about to fall on them.
taẓunnu an yuf'ʿala bihā fāqiratu
75:26 ›
كَلَّاۤ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِیَ ۝٢٦
Munir Mezyed
Nay, but when the soul comes up into the throat,
kallā idhā balaghati l-tarāqiy
75:27 ›
وَقِیلَ مَنۡۜ رَاقࣲ ۝٢٧
Munir Mezyed
There will be a cry: “ Where is the enchanter who can save him”.
waqīla man rāqi
75:28 ›
وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡفِرَاقُ ۝٢٨
Munir Mezyed
Then man will come to know that it is time to leave.
waẓanna annahu l-firāq
75:29 ›
وَٱلۡتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ ۝٢٩
Munir Mezyed
Leg is intertwined with (other) leg.
wal-tafati l-sāqu bil-sāq
75:30 ›
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ ٱلۡمَسَاقُ ۝٣٠
Munir Mezyed
Unto your Lord on that day will be the driving (of the souls) .
ilā rabbika yawma-idhin l-masāq
2 The Dead Rise
75:31 ›
فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ۝٣١
Munir Mezyed
Neither did he acknowledge (the Truth), nor did he pray.
falā ṣaddaqa walā ṣall
75:32 ›
وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ۝٣٢
Munir Mezyed
But in fact, he gave no credence to (the ‘Qur’ān’), and took no heed.
walākin kadhaba watawall
75:33 ›
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهِۦ یَتَمَطَّىٰۤ ۝٣٣
Munir Mezyed
Then he went to his family, walking with a haughty look.
thumma dhahaba ilā ahlihi yatamaṭṭ
75:34 ›
أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰ ۝٣٤
Munir Mezyed
Woe unto you and woe unto you!
awlā laka fa-awl
75:35 ›
ثُمَّ أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰۤ ۝٣٥
Munir Mezyed
Again woe unto you and woe unto you!
thumma awlā laka fa-awl
75:36 ›
أَیَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَن یُتۡرَكَ سُدًى ۝٣٦
Munir Mezyed
Does man think that he will be left without purpose?
ayaḥsabu l-insānu an yut'raka suda
75:37 ›
أَلَمۡ یَكُ نُطۡفَةࣰ مِّن مَّنِیࣲّ یُمۡنَىٰ ۝٣٧
Munir Mezyed
Was he not a semen-drop, which was emitted?
alam yaku nuṭ'fatan min maniyyin yum'n
75:38 ›
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةࣰ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ۝٣٨
Munir Mezyed
Afterwards he became a clinging substance; and Allâh formed and molded him,
thumma kāna ʿalaqatan fakhalaqa fasaww
75:39 ›
فَجَعَلَ مِنۡهُ ٱلزَّوۡجَیۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰۤ ۝٣٩
Munir Mezyed
And made of him pairs, male and female.
fajaʿala min'hu l-zawjayni l-dhakara wal-unth
75:40 ›
أَلَیۡسَ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰۤ أَن یُحۡـِۧیَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ ۝٤٠
Munir Mezyed
Is not He then capable of bringing the dead back to life?.
alaysa dhālika biqādirin ʿalā an yuḥ'yiya l-mawt
