Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And the brothers of Joseph came [seeking food], and they entered upon him; and he recognized them, but he was to them unknown
Abdel Haleem:
Joseph’s brothers came and presented themselves before him. He recognized them- though they did not recognize him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And Joseph's brethren came and presented themselves before him, and he knew them but they knew him not
قَالَ إِنَّكُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ مُّنكَرُونَ ٦٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."
Abdel Haleem:
he said, ‘You are strangers.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me)
The Bee 16:22
Noun
إِلَـٰهُكُمۡ إِلَـٰهࣱ وَ ٰحِدࣱۚ فَٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مُّنكِرَةࣱ وَهُم مُّسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ٢٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Your god is one God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter - their hearts are disapproving, and they are arrogant
Abdel Haleem:
Your God is the One God. As for those who deny the life to come, their hearts refuse to admit the truth and they are arrogant
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Your Allah is One Allah. But as for those who believe not in the Hereafter their hearts refuse to know, for they are proud
The Bee 16:90
Noun
۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ وَٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ وَإِیتَاۤىِٕ ذِی ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَیَنۡهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلۡفَحۡشَاۤءِ وَٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَٱلۡبَغۡیِۚ یَعِظُكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ ٩٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded
Abdel Haleem:
God commands justice, doing good, and generosity towards relatives and He forbids what is shameful, blameworthy, and oppressive. He teaches you, so that you may take heed
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Lo! Allah enjoineth justice and kindness, and giving to kinsfolk, and forbiddeth lewdness and abomination and wickedness. He exhorteth you in order that ye may take heed
The Cave 18:74
Noun
فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا لَقِیَا غُلَـٰمࣰا فَقَتَلَهُۥ قَالَ أَقَتَلۡتَ نَفۡسࣰا زَكِیَّةَۢ بِغَیۡرِ نَفۡسࣲ لَّقَدۡ جِئۡتَ شَیۡءࣰا نُّكۡرࣰا ٧٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
So they set out, until when they met a boy, al-Khidh r killed him. [Moses] said, "Have you killed a pure soul for other than [having killed] a soul? You have certainly done a deplorable thing."
Abdel Haleem:
And so they travelled on. Then, when they met a young boy and the man killed him, Moses said, ‘How could you kill an innocent person? He has not killed anyone! What a terrible thing to do!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
So they twain journeyed on till, when they met a lad, he slew him. (Moses) said: What! Hast thou slain an innocent soul who hath slain no man? Verily thou hast done a horrid thing
The Cave 18:87
Noun
قَالَ أَمَّا مَن ظَلَمَ فَسَوۡفَ نُعَذِّبُهُۥ ثُمَّ یُرَدُّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ فَیُعَذِّبُهُۥ عَذَابࣰا نُّكۡرࣰا ٨٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
He said, "As for one who wrongs, we will punish him. Then he will be returned to his Lord, and He will punish him with a terrible punishment
Abdel Haleem:
He answered, ‘We shall punish those who have done evil, and when they are returned to their Lord He will punish them [even more] severely
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
He said: As for him who doeth wrong, we shall punish him, and then he will be brought back unto his Lord, Who will punish him with awful punishment
The Prophets 21:50
Noun
وَهَـٰذَا ذِكۡرࣱ مُّبَارَكٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُۚ أَفَأَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ ٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And this [Qur'an] is a blessed message which We have sent down. Then are you with it unacquainted
Abdel Haleem:
This [Quran] too is a blessed message We have sent down- are you [people] going to deny it
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
This is a blessed Reminder that we have revealed: Will ye then reject it
The Pilgrimage 22:41
Noun
ٱلَّذِینَ إِن مَّكَّنَّـٰهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَمَرُوا۟ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَنَهَوۡا۟ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِۗ وَلِلَّهِ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡأُمُورِ ٤١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
[And they are] those who, if We give them authority in the land, establish prayer and give zakah and enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. And to Allah belongs the outcome of [all] matters
Abdel Haleem:
those who, when We establish them in the land, keep up the prayer, pay the prescribed alms, command what is right, and forbid what is wrong: God controls the outcome of all events
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Those who, if We give them power in the land, establish worship and pay the poor-due and enjoin kindness and forbid iniquity. And Allah's is the sequel of events
The Pilgrimage 22:44
Noun
وَأَصۡحَـٰبُ مَدۡیَنَۖ وَكُذِّبَ مُوسَىٰۖ فَأَمۡلَیۡتُ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ثُمَّ أَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖ فَكَیۡفَ كَانَ نَكِیرِ ٤٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And the inhabitants of Madyan. And Moses was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach
Abdel Haleem:
Midian. Moses too was called a liar. I gave the disbelievers time, but in the end I punished them. How I condemned them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
(And) the dwellers in Midian. And Moses was denied; but I indulged the disbelievers a long while, then I seized them, and how (terrible) was My abhorrence
The Pilgrimage 22:72
Noun
وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتُنَا بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ تَعۡرِفُ فِی وُجُوهِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلۡمُنكَرَۖ یَكَادُونَ یَسۡطُونَ بِٱلَّذِینَ یَتۡلُونَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَاۗ قُلۡ أَفَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرࣲّ مِّن ذَ ٰلِكُمُۚ ٱلنَّارُ وَعَدَهَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ٧٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, you recognize in the faces of those who disbelieve disapproval. They are almost on the verge of assaulting those who recite to them Our verses. Say, "Then shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that? [It is] the Fire which Allah has promised those who disbelieve, and wretched is the destination."
Abdel Haleem:
[Prophet], you can see the hostility on the faces of the disbelievers when Our messages are recited clearly to them: it is almost as if they are going to attack those who recite Our messages to them. Say, ‘Shall I tell you what is far worse than what you feel now? The Fire that God has promised the disbelievers! What a dismal end!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And when Our revelations are recited unto them, thou knowest the denial in the faces of those who disbelieve; they all but attack those who recite Our revelations unto them. Say: Shall I proclaim unto you worse than that? The Fire! Allah hath promised it for those who disbelieve. A hapless journey's end
The Believers 23:69
Noun
أَمۡ لَمۡ یَعۡرِفُوا۟ رَسُولَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ ٦٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging
Abdel Haleem:
Do they not recognize their Messenger? So why do they reject him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him
The Light 24:21

۞ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ خُطُوَ ٰتِ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِۚ وَمَن یَتَّبِعۡ خُطُوَ ٰتِ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِ فَإِنَّهُۥ یَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡفَحۡشَاۤءِ وَٱلۡمُنكَرِۚ وَلَوۡلَا فَضۡلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَیۡكُمۡ وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ مَا زَكَىٰ مِنكُم مِّنۡ أَحَدٍ أَبَدࣰا وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یُزَكِّی مَن یَشَاۤءُۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِیعٌ عَلِیمࣱ ٢١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan - indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure, ever, but Allah purifies whom He wills, and Allah is Hearing and Knowing
Abdel Haleem:
Believers, do not follow in Satan’s footsteps- if you do so, he will urge you to indecency and evil. If it were not for God’s bounty and mercy towards you, not one of you would ever have attained purity. God purifies whoever He will: God is all hearing, all seeing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
O ye who believe! Follow not the footsteps of the devil. Unto whomsoever followeth the footsteps of the devil, lo! he commandeth filthiness and wrong. Had it not been for the grace of Allah and His mercy unto you, not one of you would ever have grown pure. But Allah causeth whom He will to grow. And Allah is Hearer, Knower
The Spider 29:29
Noun
أَىِٕنَّكُمۡ لَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ وَتَقۡطَعُونَ ٱلسَّبِیلَ وَتَأۡتُونَ فِی نَادِیكُمُ ٱلۡمُنكَرَۖ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهِۦۤ إِلَّاۤ أَن قَالُوا۟ ٱئۡتِنَا بِعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ٢٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Indeed, you approach men and obstruct the road and commit in your meetings [every] evil." And the answer of his people was not but they said, "Bring us the punishment of Allah , if you should be of the truthful."
Abdel Haleem:
How can you lust after men, waylay travellers, and commit evil in your gatherings?’ the only answer his people gave was, ‘Bring God’s punishment down on us, if what you say is true.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
For come ye not in unto males, and cut ye not the road (for travellers), and commit ye not abomination in your meetings? But the answer of his folk was only that they said: Bring Allah's doom upon us if thou art a truthteller
The Spider 29:45
Noun
ٱتۡلُ مَاۤ أُوحِیَ إِلَیۡكَ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَۖ إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ تَنۡهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلۡفَحۡشَاۤءِ وَٱلۡمُنكَرِۗ وَلَذِكۡرُ ٱللَّهِ أَكۡبَرُۗ وَٱللَّهُ یَعۡلَمُ مَا تَصۡنَعُونَ ٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do
Abdel Haleem:
[Prophet], recite what has been revealed to you of the Scripture; keep up the prayer: prayer restrains outrageous and unacceptable behaviour. Remembering God is greater: God knows everything you are doing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Recite that which hath been inspired in thee of the Scripture, and establish worship. Lo! worship preserveth from lewdness and iniquity, but verily remembrance of Allah is more important. And Allah knoweth what ye do
Luqman, Lukman 31:17
Noun
یَـٰبُنَیَّ أَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأۡمُرۡ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَٱنۡهَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَاۤ أَصَابَكَۖ إِنَّ ذَ ٰلِكَ مِنۡ عَزۡمِ ٱلۡأُمُورِ ١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] determination
Abdel Haleem:
Keep up the prayer, my son; command what is right; forbid what is wrong; bear anything that happens to you steadfastly: these are things to be aspired to
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
O my dear son! Establish worship and enjoin kindness and forbid iniquity, and persevere whatever may befall thee. Lo! that is of the steadfast heart of things
Luqman, Lukman 31:19
Noun
وَٱقۡصِدۡ فِی مَشۡیِكَ وَٱغۡضُضۡ مِن صَوۡتِكَۚ إِنَّ أَنكَرَ ٱلۡأَصۡوَ ٰتِ لَصَوۡتُ ٱلۡحَمِیرِ ١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys."
Abdel Haleem:
Go at a moderate pace and lower your voice, for the ugliest of all voices is the braying of asses.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Be modest in thy bearing and subdue thy voice. Lo! the harshest of all voices is the voice of the ass
Saba, Sheba 34:45
Noun
وَكَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ وَمَا بَلَغُوا۟ مِعۡشَارَ مَاۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ رُسُلِیۖ فَكَیۡفَ كَانَ نَكِیرِ ٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And those before them denied, and the people of Makkah have not attained a tenth of what We had given them. But the former peoples denied My messengers, so how [terrible] was My reproach
Abdel Haleem:
Those who lived before them also denied the truth- these people have not attained even a tenth of what We gave their predecessors- they, too, rejected My messengers, and how terrible My condemnation was
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Those before them denied, and these have not attained a tithe of that which We bestowed on them (of old); yet they denied My messengers. How intense then was My abhorrence (of them)
ثُمَّ أَخَذۡتُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ۖ فَكَیۡفَ كَانَ نَكِیرِ ٢٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Then I seized the ones who disbelieved, and how [terrible] was My reproach
Abdel Haleem:
and afterwards I seized the disbelievers- how terrible My punishment was
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Then seized I those who disbelieved, and how intense was My abhorrence
وَلۡتَكُن مِّنكُمۡ أُمَّةࣱ یَدۡعُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡخَیۡرِ وَیَأۡمُرُونَ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَیَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِۚ وَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ ١٠٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful
Abdel Haleem:
Be a community that calls for what is good, urges what is right, and forbids what is wrong: those who do this are the successful ones
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And there may spring from you a nation who invite to goodness, and enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency. Such are they who are successful
كُنتُمۡ خَیۡرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخۡرِجَتۡ لِلنَّاسِ تَأۡمُرُونَ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَتَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَتُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِۗ وَلَوۡ ءَامَنَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ لَكَانَ خَیۡرࣰا لَّهُمۚ مِّنۡهُمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمُ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ ١١٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah . If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient
Abdel Haleem:
[Believers], you are the best community singled out for people: you order what is right, forbid what is wrong, and believe in God. If the People of the Book had also believed, it would have been better for them. For although some of them do believe, most of them are lawbreakers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Ye are the best community that hath been raised up for mankind. Ye enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency; and ye believe in Allah. And if the People of the Scripture had believed it had been better for them. Some of them are believers; but most of them are evil-livers
یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡیَوۡمِ ٱلۡءَاخِرِ وَیَأۡمُرُونَ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَیَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَیُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِی ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ١١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous
Abdel Haleem:
who believe in God and the Last Day, who order what is right and forbid what is wrong, who are quick to do good deeds. These people are among the righteou
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency, and vie one with another in good works. These are of the righteous
ٱسۡتَجِیبُوا۟ لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن یَأۡتِیَ یَوۡمࣱ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِۚ مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلۡجَإࣲ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِیرࣲ ٤٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from Allah of which there is no repelling. No refuge will you have that day, nor for you will there be any denial
Abdel Haleem:
So [people] respond to your Lord before there comes a Day that cannot, against God’s will, be averted- you will have no refuge on that Day, and no possibility of denying [your sins]. If they still turn away [remember that]
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Answer the call of your Lord before there cometh unto you from Allah a Day which there is no averting. Ye have no refuge on that Day, nor have a ye any (power of) refusal
إِذۡ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمࣰاۖ قَالَ سَلَـٰمࣱ قَوۡمࣱ مُّنكَرُونَ ٢٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown
Abdel Haleem:
They went in to see him and said, ‘Peace.’ ‘Peace,’ he said, [adding to himself] ‘These people are strangers.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me)
The Moon 54:6
Noun
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡۘ یَوۡمَ یَدۡعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَیۡءࣲ نُّكُرٍ ٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding
Abdel Haleem:
so [Prophet] turn away from them. On the Day the Summoner will summon them to a horrific event
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing
ٱلَّذِینَ یُظَـٰهِرُونَ مِنكُم مِّن نِّسَاۤىِٕهِم مَّا هُنَّ أُمَّهَـٰتِهِمۡۖ إِنۡ أُمَّهَـٰتُهُمۡ إِلَّا ٱلَّـٰۤءِی وَلَدۡنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَیَقُولُونَ مُنكَرࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَزُورࣰاۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورࣱ ٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Those who pronounce thihar among you [to separate] from their wives - they are not [consequently] their mothers. Their mothers are none but those who gave birth to them. And indeed, they are saying an objectionable statement and a falsehood. But indeed, Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving
Abdel Haleem:
Even if any of you say to their wives, ‘You are to me like my mother’s back,’they are not their mothers; their only mothers are those who gave birth to them. What they say is certainly blameworthy and false, but God is pardoning and forgiving
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Such of you as put away your wives (by saying they are as their mothers) - They are not their mothers; none are their mothers except those who gave them birth - they indeed utter an ill word and a lie. And lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful
كَانُوا۟ لَا یَتَنَاهَوۡنَ عَن مُّنكَرࣲ فَعَلُوهُۚ لَبِئۡسَ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡعَلُونَ ٧٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
They used not to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did. How wretched was that which they were doing
Abdel Haleem:
they did not forbid each other to do wrong. How vile their deeds were
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
They restrained not one another from the wickedness they did. Verily evil was that they used to do
Divorce 65:8

وَكَأَیِّن مِّن قَرۡیَةٍ عَتَتۡ عَنۡ أَمۡرِ رَبِّهَا وَرُسُلِهِۦ فَحَاسَبۡنَـٰهَا حِسَابࣰا شَدِیدࣰا وَعَذَّبۡنَـٰهَا عَذَابࣰا نُّكۡرࣰا ٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And how many a city was insolent toward the command of its Lord and His messengers, so We took it to severe account and punished it with a terrible punishment
Abdel Haleem:
Many a town that insolently opposed the command of its Lord and His messengers We have brought sternly to account: We punished them severel
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And how many a community revolted against the ordinance of its Lord and His messengers, and We called it to a stern account and punished it with dire punishment
وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ فَكَیۡفَ كَانَ نَكِیرِ ١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And already had those before them denied, and how [terrible] was My reproach
Abdel Haleem:
Those who went before them also disbelieved- how terrible was My condemnation
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And verily those before them denied, then (see) the manner of My wrath (with them)
ٱلَّذِینَ یَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلرَّسُولَ ٱلنَّبِیَّ ٱلۡأُمِّیَّ ٱلَّذِی یَجِدُونَهُۥ مَكۡتُوبًا عِندَهُمۡ فِی ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةِ وَٱلۡإِنجِیلِ یَأۡمُرُهُم بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَیَنۡهَىٰهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَیُحِلُّ لَهُمُ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِ وَیُحَرِّمُ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡخَبَـٰۤىِٕثَ وَیَضَعُ عَنۡهُمۡ إِصۡرَهُمۡ وَٱلۡأَغۡلَـٰلَ ٱلَّتِی كَانَتۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡۚ فَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلنُّورَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أُنزِلَ مَعَهُۥۤ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ ١٥٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and forbids them what is wrong and makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil and relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them. So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful
Abdel Haleem:
who follow the Messenger- the unlettered prophet they find described in the Torah that is with them, and in the Gospel- who commands them to do right and forbids them to do wrong, who makes good things lawful to them and bad things unlawful, and relieves them of their burdens, and the iron collars that were on them. So it is those who believe him, honour and help him, and who follow the light which has been sent down with him, who will succeed.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Those who follow the messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write, whom they will find described in the Torah and the Gospel (which are) with them. He will enjoin on them that which is right and forbid them that which is wrong. He will make lawful for them all good things and prohibit for them only the foul; and he will relieve them of their burden and the fetters that they used to wear. Then those who believe in him, and honour him, and help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him: they are the successful
Repentance 9:112
Noun
ٱلتَّـٰۤىِٕبُونَ ٱلۡعَـٰبِدُونَ ٱلۡحَـٰمِدُونَ ٱلسَّـٰۤىِٕحُونَ ٱلرَّ ٰكِعُونَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدُونَ ٱلۡءَامِرُونَ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَٱلنَّاهُونَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَٱلۡحَـٰفِظُونَ لِحُدُودِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ١١٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
[Such believers are] the repentant, the worshippers, the praisers [of Allah ], the travelers [for His cause], those who bow and prostrate [in prayer], those who enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and those who observe the limits [set by] Allah . And give good tidings to the believers
Abdel Haleem:
[The believers are] those who turn to God in repentance; who worship and praise Him; who bow down and pros-trate themselves; who order what is good and forbid what is wrong and who observe God’s limits. Give glad news to such believers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
(Triumphant) are those who turn repentant (to Allah), those who serve (Him), those who praise (Him), those who fast, those who bow down, those who fall prostrate (in worship), those who enjoin the right and who forbid the wrong and those who keep the limits (ordained) of Allah - And give glad tidings to believers
Repentance 9:67
Noun
ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتُ بَعۡضُهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡضࣲۚ یَأۡمُرُونَ بِٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَیَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَیَقۡبِضُونَ أَیۡدِیَهُمۡۚ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَنَسِیَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِینَ هُمُ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ ٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
The hypocrite men and hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right and close their hands. They have forgotten Allah , so He has forgotten them [accordingly]. Indeed, the hypocrites - it is they who are the defiantly disobedient
Abdel Haleem:
The hypocrites, both men and women, are all the same: they order what is wrong and forbid what is right; they are tight-fisted. They have ignored God, so He has ignored them. The hypocrites are the disobedient ones
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
The hypocrites, both men and women, proceed one from another. They enjoin the wrong, and they forbid the right, and they withhold their hands (from spending for the cause of Allah). They forget Allah, so He hath forgotten them. Lo! the hypocrites, they are the transgressors
Repentance 9:71
Noun
وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتُ بَعۡضُهُمۡ أَوۡلِیَاۤءُ بَعۡضࣲۚ یَأۡمُرُونَ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَیَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَیُقِیمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَیُؤۡتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَیُطِیعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥۤۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ سَیَرۡحَمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِیزٌ حَكِیمࣱ ٧١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise
Abdel Haleem:
The believers, both men and women, support each other; they order what is right and forbid what is wrong; they keep up the prayer and pay the prescribed alms; they obey God and His Messenger. God will give His mercy to such people: God is almighty and wise
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And the believers, men and women, are protecting friends one of another; they enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and they establish worship and they pay the poor-due, and they obey Allah and His messenger. As for these, Allah will have mercy on them. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise

Hud 11:70
Verb
فَلَمَّا رَءَاۤ أَیۡدِیَهُمۡ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَیۡهِ نَكِرَهُمۡ وَأَوۡجَسَ مِنۡهُمۡ خِیفَةࣰۚ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفۡ إِنَّاۤ أُرۡسِلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِ لُوطࣲ ٧٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
But when he saw their hands not reaching for it, he distrusted them and felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not. We have been sent to the people of Lot."
Abdel Haleem:
When he saw that their hands did not reach towards the meal, he found this strange and became afraid of them. But they said, ‘Do not be afraid. We have been sent against the people of Lot.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And when he saw their hands reached not to it, he mistrusted them and conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! Lo! we are sent unto the folk of Lot
The Thunder 13:36
Verb
وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ یَفۡرَحُونَ بِمَاۤ أُنزِلَ إِلَیۡكَۖ وَمِنَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابِ مَن یُنكِرُ بَعۡضَهُۥۚ قُلۡ إِنَّمَاۤ أُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱللَّهَ وَلَاۤ أُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦۤۚ إِلَیۡهِ أَدۡعُوا۟ وَإِلَیۡهِ مَءَابِ ٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And [the believers among] those to whom We have given the [previous] Scripture rejoice at what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], but among the [opposing] factions are those who deny part of it. Say, "I have only been commanded to worship Allah and not associate [anything] with Him. To Him I invite, and to Him is my return."
Abdel Haleem:
Those to whom We sent the Scripture rejoice in what has been revealed to you [Prophet]; some factions deny parts of it. Say, ‘I am commanded to worship God, and not join anything with Him in worship: to Him I call [others] and to Him I shall return.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Those unto whom We gave the Scripture rejoice in that which is revealed unto thee. And of the clans there are who deny some of it. Say: I am commanded only that I serve Allah and ascribe unto Him no partner. Unto Him I cry, and unto Him is my return
The Bee 16:83
Verb
یَعۡرِفُونَ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ یُنكِرُونَهَا وَأَكۡثَرُهُمُ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ ٨٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
They recognize the favor of Allah ; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers
Abdel Haleem:
They know God’s blessings, but refuse to recognize them: most of them are ungrateful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
They know the favour of Allah and then deny it. Most of them are ingrates
قَالَ نَكِّرُوا۟ لَهَا عَرۡشَهَا نَنظُرۡ أَتَهۡتَدِیۤ أَمۡ تَكُونُ مِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یَهۡتَدُونَ ٤١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
He said, "Disguise for her her throne; we will see whether she will be guided [to truth] or will be of those who is not guided."
Abdel Haleem:
Then he said, ‘Disguise her throne, and we shall see whether or not she recognizes it.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
He said: Disguise her throne for her that we may see whether she will go aright or be of those not rightly guided
وَیُرِیكُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ فَأَیَّ ءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُنكِرُونَ ٨١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And He shows you His signs. So which of the signs of Allah do you deny
Abdel Haleem:
He shows you His signs: which of God’s signs do you still ignore
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And He showeth you His tokens. Which, then, of the tokens of Allah do ye deny
