The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:144

إِلَّا illā

رَسُولٌ rasūlun

قَدْ qad

خَلَتْ khalat
passed away V
مِن min
from Prep
قَبْلِهِ qablihi
before him Noun
ٱلرُّسُلُ l-rusulu
[the] (other) Messengers Noun
أَفَإِي۟ن afa-in
So if Prep
مَّاتَ māta
he died V
أَوْ aw
or Prep
قُتِلَ qutila
is slain V
ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ inqalabtum
will you turn back V
عَلَىٰٓ ʿalā
on Prep
أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ aʿqābikum
your heels Noun
وَمَن waman
And whoever Noun
يَنقَلِبْ yanqalib
turns back V
عَلَىٰ ʿalā
on Prep
عَقِبَيْهِ ʿaqibayhi
his heels Noun
فَلَن falan
then never Prep
يَضُرَّ yaḍurra
will he harm V
ٱللَّهَ l-laha
Allah Noun
شَيْـًٔا shayan
(in) anything Noun
وَسَيَجْزِى wasayajzī
And will reward V
ٱللَّهُ l-lahu
Allah Noun
ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ l-shākirīna
the grateful ones Noun

Muhammad is only a messenger before whom many messengers have been and gone. If he died or was killed, would you revert to your old ways? If anyone did so, he would not harm God in the least. God will reward the grateful

Arabic Text

وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولࣱ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُۚ أَفَإِی۟ن مَّاتَ أَوۡ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبۡتُمۡ عَلَىٰۤ أَعۡقَـٰبِكُمۡۚ وَمَن یَنقَلِبۡ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَیۡهِ فَلَن یَضُرَّ ٱللَّهَ شَیۡءࣰاۗ وَسَیَجۡزِی ٱللَّهُ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِینَ ۝١٤٤

wamā muḥammadun illā rasūlun qad khalat min qablihi l-rusulu afa-in māta aw qutila inqalabtum ʿalā aʿqābikum waman yanqalib ʿalā ʿaqibayhi falan yaḍurra l-laha shayan wasayajzī l-lahu l-shākirīn
