إِنِ ini

ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ is'taḥabbū
they prefer V
ٱلْكُفْرَ l-kuf'ra
[the] disbelief Noun
عَلَى ʿalā
over Prep
ٱلْإِيمَٰنِ l-īmāni
[the] belief Noun
وَمَن waman
And whoever Noun
يَتَوَلَّهُم yatawallahum
takes them as allies V
مِّنكُمْ minkum
among you Prep
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ fa-ulāika
then those Noun
هُمُ humu

ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ l-ẓālimūna
(are) the wrongdoers Noun

Believers, do not take your fathers and brothers as allies if they prefer disbelief to faith: those of you who do so are doing wrong

Arabic Text

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوۤا۟ ءَابَاۤءَكُمۡ وَإِخۡوَ ٰنَكُمۡ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَ إِنِ ٱسۡتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلۡكُفۡرَ عَلَى ٱلۡإِیمَـٰنِۚ وَمَن یَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمۡ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝٢٣

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū ābāakum wa-ikh'wānakum awliyāa ini is'taḥabbū l-kuf'ra ʿalā l-īmāni waman yatawallahum minkum fa-ulāika humu l-ẓālimūn
