فَمَاۤ ءَامَنَ لِمُوسَىٰۤ إِلَّا ذُرِّیَّةࣱ مِّن قَوۡمِهِۦ عَلَىٰ خَوۡفࣲ مِّن فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِمۡ أَن یَفۡتِنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّ فِرۡعَوۡنَ لَعَالࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝٨٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But no one believed Moses, except [some] youths among his people, for fear of Pharaoh and his establishment that they would persecute them. And indeed, Pharaoh was haughty within the land, and indeed, he was of the transgressor
Abdel Haleem: But no one believed in Moses except a few of his own people, for fear that Pharaoh and their leaders would persecute them: Pharaoh was domineering in the land and prone to excess
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: But none trusted Moses, save some scions of his people, (and they were) in fear of Pharaoh and their chiefs, that he would persecute them. Lo! Pharaoh was verily a tyrant in the land, and lo! he verily was of the wanton
Hud 11:82 Noun
فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُنَا جَعَلۡنَا عَـٰلِیَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهَا حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن سِجِّیلࣲ مَّنضُودࣲ ۝٨٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So when Our command came, We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of layered hard clay, [which were]
Abdel Haleem: And so when what We had ordained came about, We turned their town upside down and rained down stones of baked clay on it, layer upon layer
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So when Our commandment came to pass We overthrew (that township) and rained upon it stones of clay, one after another
The Thunder 13:9 Noun
عَـٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ٱلۡكَبِیرُ ٱلۡمُتَعَالِ ۝٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Grand, the Exalted
Abdel Haleem: He knows what is not seen as well as what is seen; He is the Great, the Most High
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He is the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, the Great, the High Exalted
The Rock, Stoneland, Rock City 15:74 Noun
فَجَعَلۡنَا عَـٰلِیَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن سِجِّیلٍ ۝٧٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay
Abdel Haleem: We turned their city upside down and rained on them a shower of clay stones
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay
The Bee 16:60 Noun
لِلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ مَثَلُ ٱلسَّوۡءِۖ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡمَثَلُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): For those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the description of evil; and for Allah is the highest attribute. And He is Exalted in Might, the Wise
Abdel Haleem: Those who do not believe in the Hereafter should have the contemptible image, and God should have the highest one: He is the Mighty, the Wise
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: For those who believe not in the Hereafter is an evil similitude, and Allah's is the Sublime Similitude. He is the Mighty, the Wise
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:4 Noun
وَقَضَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ لَتُفۡسِدُنَّ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَرَّتَیۡنِ وَلَتَعۡلُنَّ عُلُوࣰّا كَبِیرࣰا ۝٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness
Abdel Haleem: We declared to the Children of Israel in the Scripture, ‘Twice you will spread corruption in the land and become highly arrogant.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture: Ye verily will work corruption in the earth twice, and ye will become great tyrants
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:43 Noun
سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یَقُولُونَ عُلُوࣰّا كَبِیرࣰا ۝٤٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Exalted is He and high above what they say by great sublimity
Abdel Haleem: Glory to Him! He is far above what they say
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Glorified is He, and High Exalted above what they say
Mary 19:50 Noun
وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُم مِّن رَّحۡمَتِنَا وَجَعَلۡنَا لَهُمۡ لِسَانَ صِدۡقٍ عَلِیࣰّا ۝٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor
Abdel Haleem: We granted Our grace to all of them, and gave them a noble reputation
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And we gave them of Our mercy, and assigned to them a high and true renown

Ta Ha 20:68 Noun
قُلۡنَا لَا تَخَفۡ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ ۝٦٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah said, "Fear not. Indeed, it is you who are superior
Abdel Haleem: but We said, ‘Do not be afraid, you have the upper hand
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: We said: Fear not! Lo! thou art the higher
Ta Ha 20:75 Noun
وَمَن یَأۡتِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنࣰا قَدۡ عَمِلَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمُ ٱلدَّرَجَـٰتُ ٱلۡعُلَىٰ ۝٧٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But whoever comes to Him as a believer having done righteous deeds - for those will be the highest degrees [in position]
Abdel Haleem: But those who return to their Lord as believers with righteous deeds will be rewarded with the highest of ranks
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: But whoso cometh unto Him a believer, having done good works, for such are the high stations
The Pilgrimage 22:62 Noun
ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ هُوَ ٱلۡبَـٰطِلُ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡعَلِیُّ ٱلۡكَبِیرُ ۝٦٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand
Abdel Haleem: So it will be, because it is God alone who is the Truth, and whatever else they invoke is sheer falsehood: it is God who is the Most High, the Most Great
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: That is because Allah, He is the True, and that whereon they call instead of Him, it is the false, and because Allah, He is the High, the Great
The Believers 23:46 Noun
إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِۦ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوۡمًا عَالِینَ ۝٤٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people
Abdel Haleem: to Pharaoh and his prominent leaders, but they responded with arrogance: they were a haughty people
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk
The Ant, The Ants 27:14 Noun
وَجَحَدُوا۟ بِهَا وَٱسۡتَیۡقَنَتۡهَاۤ أَنفُسُهُمۡ ظُلۡمࣰا وَعُلُوࣰّاۚ فَٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness. So see how was the end of the corrupters
Abdel Haleem: They denied them, in their wickedness and their pride, even though their souls acknowledged them as true. See how those who spread corruption met their end
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they denied them, though their souls acknowledged them, for spite and arrogance. Then see the nature of the consequence for the wrong-doers
The Story, Stories, The Narrative 28:83 Noun
تِلۡكَ ٱلدَّارُ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةُ نَجۡعَلُهَا لِلَّذِینَ لَا یُرِیدُونَ عُلُوࣰّا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فَسَادࣰاۚ وَٱلۡعَـٰقِبَةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٨٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): That home of the Hereafter We assign to those who do not desire exaltedness upon the earth or corruption. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous
Abdel Haleem: We grant the Home in the Hereafter to those who do not seek superiority on earth or spread corruption: the happy ending is awarded to those who are mindful of God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: As for that Abode of the Hereafter We assign it unto those who seek not oppression in the earth, nor yet corruption. The sequel is for those who ward off (evil)
The Cow 2:255 Noun
ٱللَّهُ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡحَیُّ ٱلۡقَیُّومُۚ لَا تَأۡخُذُهُۥ سِنَةࣱ وَلَا نَوۡمࣱۚ لَّهُۥ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِی یَشۡفَعُ عِندَهُۥۤ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِهِۦۚ یَعۡلَمُ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡۖ وَلَا یُحِیطُونَ بِشَیۡءࣲ مِّنۡ عِلۡمِهِۦۤ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاۤءَۚ وَسِعَ كُرۡسِیُّهُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَۖ وَلَا یَءُودُهُۥ حِفۡظُهُمَاۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَلِیُّ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝٢٥٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great
Abdel Haleem: God: there is no god but Him, the Ever Living, the Ever Watchful.Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. All that is in the heavens and in the earth belongs to Him. Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His leave? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, but they do not comprehend any of His knowledge except what He wills. His throne extends over the heavens and the earth; it does not weary Him to preserve them both. He is the Most High, the Tremendous
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah! There is no deity save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous
The Romans, The Byzantines 30:27 Noun
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥ وَهُوَ أَهۡوَنُ عَلَیۡهِۚ وَلَهُ ٱلۡمَثَلُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٢٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And it is He who begins creation; then He repeats it, and that is [even] easier for Him. To Him belongs the highest attribute in the heavens and earth. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise
Abdel Haleem: He is the One who originates creation and will do it again- this is even easier for Him. He is above all comparison in the heavens and earth; He is the Almighty, the All Wise
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He it is Who produceth creation, then reproduceth it, and it is easier for Him. His is the Sublime Similitude in the heavens and the earth. He is the Mighty, the Wise
Luqman, Lukman 31:30 Noun
ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ ٱلۡبَـٰطِلُ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡعَلِیُّ ٱلۡكَبِیرُ ۝٣٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): That is because Allah is the Truth, and that what they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand
Abdel Haleem: This is because God is the Truth, and what they invoke beside Him is false. He is the Most High, Most Great
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: That (is so) because Allah, He is the True, and that which they invoke beside Him is the False, and because Allah, He is the Sublime, the Great
Saba, Sheba 34:23 Noun
وَلَا تَنفَعُ ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةُ عِندَهُۥۤ إِلَّا لِمَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُۥۚ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا فُزِّعَ عَن قُلُوبِهِمۡ قَالُوا۟ مَاذَا قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡۖ قَالُوا۟ ٱلۡحَقَّۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَلِیُّ ٱلۡكَبِیرُ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And intercession does not benefit with Him except for one whom He permits. [And those wait] until, when terror is removed from their hearts, they will say [to one another], "What has your Lord said?" They will say, "The truth." And He is the Most High, the Grand
Abdel Haleem: Intercession will not work with Him, except by those to whom He gives permission.’ They will be asked, after the terror is lifted from their hearts [on the Day of Judgement], ‘What did your Lord speak?’ and they will answer, ‘The Truth. He is the Most High, the Most Great.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: No intercession availeth with Him save for him whom He permitteth. Yet, when fear is banished from their hearts, they say: What was it that your Lord said? They say: The Truth. And He is the Sublime, the Great
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:8 Noun
لَّا یَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡمَلَإِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ وَیُقۡذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبࣲ ۝٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side
Abdel Haleem: they cannot eavesdrop on the Higher Assembly––pelted from every side
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They cannot listen to the Highest Chiefs for they are pelted from every side
The Letter Sad 38:69 Noun
مَا كَانَ لِیَ مِنۡ عِلۡمِۭ بِٱلۡمَلَإِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰۤ إِذۡ یَخۡتَصِمُونَ ۝٦٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): I had no knowledge of the exalted assembly [of angels] when they were disputing [the creation of Adam]
Abdel Haleem: I have no knowledge of what those on high discuss
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: I had no knowledge of the Highest Chiefs when they disputed
The Letter Sad 38:75 Noun
قَالَ یَـٰۤإِبۡلِیسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسۡجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقۡتُ بِیَدَیَّۖ أَسۡتَكۡبَرۡتَ أَمۡ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَالِینَ ۝٧٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [ Allah ] said, "O Iblees, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant [then], or were you [already] among the haughty?"
Abdel Haleem: God said, ‘Iblis, what prevents you from bowing down to the man I have made with My own hands? Are you too high and mighty?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:139 Noun
وَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَلَا تَحۡزَنُوا۟ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَوۡنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٣٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers
Abdel Haleem: Do not lose heart or despair- if you are true believers you have the upper hand
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Faint not nor grieve, for ye will overcome them if ye are (indeed) believers
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:12 Noun
ذَ ٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥۤ إِذَا دُعِیَ ٱللَّهُ وَحۡدَهُۥ كَفَرۡتُمۡ وَإِن یُشۡرَكۡ بِهِۦ تُؤۡمِنُوا۟ۚ فَٱلۡحُكۡمُ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡعَلِیِّ ٱلۡكَبِیرِ ۝١٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [They will be told], "That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah , the Most High, the Grand."
Abdel Haleem: [They will be told], ‘This is all because when God alone was invoked you rejected this, yet when others were associated with Him you believed [in them].’ Judgement belongs to God the Most High, the Most Great
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (It is said unto them): This is (your plight) because, when Allah only was invoked, ye disbelieved, but when some partner was ascribed to Him ye were believing. But the command belongeth only to Allah, the Sublime, the Majestic
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:4 Noun
لَهُۥ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَلِیُّ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great
Abdel Haleem: All that is in the heavens and earth belongs to Him: He is the Exalted, the Almighty
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Unto Him belongeth all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and He is the Sublime, the Tremendous
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:51 Noun
۞ وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن یُكَلِّمَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا وَحۡیًا أَوۡ مِن وَرَاۤىِٕ حِجَابٍ أَوۡ یُرۡسِلَ رَسُولࣰا فَیُوحِیَ بِإِذۡنِهِۦ مَا یَشَاۤءُۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِیٌّ حَكِیمࣱ ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And it is not for any human being that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise
Abdel Haleem: It is not granted to any mortal that God should speak to him except through revelation or from behind a veil, or by sending a messenger to reveal by His command what He will: He is exalted and wise
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And it was not (vouchsafed) to any mortal that Allah should speak to him unless (it be) by revelation or from behind a veil, or (that) He sendeth a messenger to reveal what He will by His leave. Lo! He is Exalted, Wise
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:4 Noun
وَإِنَّهُۥ فِیۤ أُمِّ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ لَدَیۡنَا لَعَلِیٌّ حَكِیمٌ ۝٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom
Abdel Haleem: It is truly exalted in the Source of Scripture kept with Us, and full of wisdom
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive
Smoke, The Evident Smoke 44:31 Noun
مِن فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِیࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors
Abdel Haleem: at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones
Muhammad 47:35 Noun
فَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَتَدۡعُوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱلسَّلۡمِ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَوۡنَ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَكُمۡ وَلَن یَتِرَكُمۡ أَعۡمَـٰلَكُمۡ ۝٣٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So do not weaken and call for peace while you are superior; and Allah is with you and will never deprive you of [the reward of] your deeds
Abdel Haleem: So [believers] do not lose heart and cry out for peace. It is you who have the upper hand: God is with you. He will not begrudge you the reward for your [good] deeds
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So do not falter and cry out for peace when ye (will be) the uppermost, and Allah is with you, and He will not grudge (the reward of) your actions

ٱلرِّجَالُ قَوَّ ٰمُونَ عَلَى ٱلنِّسَاۤءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بَعۡضَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ وَبِمَاۤ أَنفَقُوا۟ مِنۡ أَمۡوَ ٰلِهِمۡۚ فَٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ قَـٰنِتَـٰتٌ حَـٰفِظَـٰتࣱ لِّلۡغَیۡبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَٱلَّـٰتِی تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَٱهۡجُرُوهُنَّ فِی ٱلۡمَضَاجِعِ وَٱضۡرِبُوهُنَّۖ فَإِنۡ أَطَعۡنَكُمۡ فَلَا تَبۡغُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِنَّ سَبِیلًاۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِیࣰّا كَبِیرࣰا ۝٣٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand
Abdel Haleem: Husbands should take good care of their wives, with [the bounties] God has given to some more than others and with what they spend out of their own money. Righteous wives are devout and guard what God would have them guard in their husbands’ absence. If you fear high-handedness from your wives, remind them [of the teachings of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them.If they obey you, you have no right to act against them: God is most high and great
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great
The Star 53:7 Noun
وَهُوَ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ ۝٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon

Man 76:21 Noun
عَـٰلِیَهُمۡ ثِیَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضۡرࣱ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقࣱۖ وَحُلُّوۤا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةࣲ وَسَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ شَرَابࣰا طَهُورًا ۝٢١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink
Abdel Haleem: they will wear garments of green silk and brocade; they will be adorned with silver bracelets; their Lord will give them a pure drink
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink
Those Who Drag Forth, Soul-snatchers, Those Who Pulled Out 79:24 Noun
فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And said, "I am your most exalted lord."
Abdel Haleem: ‘I am your supreme lord,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest."
Defrauding, The Defrauders, The Cheats, Cheating 83:18 Noun
كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun
Abdel Haleem: No indeed! The list of the truly good is in 'Illiyyin––
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin
Defrauding, The Defrauders, The Cheats, Cheating 83:19 Noun
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun
Abdel Haleem: what will explain to you what 'Illiyyin is?––
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is!
The Most High, Glory to your Lord in the Highest 87:1 Noun
سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High

إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ

Repentance 9:40 Noun
إِلَّا تَنصُرُوهُ فَقَدۡ نَصَرَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِذۡ أَخۡرَجَهُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ ثَانِیَ ٱثۡنَیۡنِ إِذۡ هُمَا فِی ٱلۡغَارِ إِذۡ یَقُولُ لِصَـٰحِبِهِۦ لَا تَحۡزَنۡ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَنَاۖ فَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِینَتَهُۥ عَلَیۡهِ وَأَیَّدَهُۥ بِجُنُودࣲ لَّمۡ تَرَوۡهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلسُّفۡلَىٰۗ وَكَلِمَةُ ٱللَّهِ هِیَ ٱلۡعُلۡیَاۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِیزٌ حَكِیمٌ ۝٤٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): If you do not aid the Prophet - Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us." And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah - that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise
Abdel Haleem: Even if you do not help the Prophet, God helped him when the disbelievers drove him out: when the two of them were in the cave, he [Muhammad] said to his companion, ‘Do not worry, God is with us,’ and God sent His calm down to him, aided him with forces invisible to you, and brought down the disbelievers’ plan. God’s plan is higher: God is almighty and wise
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If ye help him not, still Allah helped him when those who disbelieve drove him forth, the second of two; when they two were in the cave, when he said unto his comrade: Grieve not. Lo! Allah is with us. Then Allah caused His peace of reassurance to descend upon him and supported him with hosts ye cannot see, and made the word of those who disbelieved the nethermost, while Allah's Word it was that became the uppermost. Allah is Mighty, Wise

Jonah 10:18 Verb
وَیَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَضُرُّهُمۡ وَلَا یَنفَعُهُمۡ وَیَقُولُونَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ شُفَعَـٰۤؤُنَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَتُنَبِّءُونَ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا لَا یَعۡلَمُ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَلَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they worship other than Allah that which neither harms them nor benefits them, and they say, "These are our intercessors with Allah " Say, "Do you inform Allah of something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?" Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Hi
Abdel Haleem: They worship alongside God things that can neither harm nor benefit them, and say, ‘These are our intercessors with God.’ Say, ‘Do you think you can tell God about something He knows not to exist in the heavens or earth? Glory be to Him! He is far above the partner-gods they associate with Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They worship beside Allah that which neither hurteth them nor profiteth them, and they say: These are our intercessors with Allah. Say: Would ye inform Allah of (something) that He knoweth not in the heavens or in the earth? Praised be He and High Exalted above all that ye associate (with Him)
The Bee 16:1 Verb
۞ أَتَىٰۤ أَمۡرُ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِلُوهُۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The command of Allah is coming, so be not impatient for it. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: God’s Judgement is coming, so do not ask to bring it on sooner. Glory be to Him! He is far above anything they join with Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The commandment of Allah will come to pass, so seek not ye to hasten it. Glorified and Exalted be He above all that they associate (with Him)
The Bee 16:3 Verb
خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ تَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He created the heavens and earth in truth. High is He above what they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: He created the heavens and earth for a true purpose, and He is far above whatever they join with Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He hath created the heavens and the earth with truth. High be He Exalted above all that they associate (with Him)
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:4 Verb
وَقَضَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ لَتُفۡسِدُنَّ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَرَّتَیۡنِ وَلَتَعۡلُنَّ عُلُوࣰّا كَبِیرࣰا ۝٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness
Abdel Haleem: We declared to the Children of Israel in the Scripture, ‘Twice you will spread corruption in the land and become highly arrogant.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture: Ye verily will work corruption in the earth twice, and ye will become great tyrants
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:43 Verb
سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یَقُولُونَ عُلُوࣰّا كَبِیرࣰا ۝٤٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Exalted is He and high above what they say by great sublimity
Abdel Haleem: Glory to Him! He is far above what they say
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Glorified is He, and High Exalted above what they say
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:7 Verb
إِنۡ أَحۡسَنتُمۡ أَحۡسَنتُمۡ لِأَنفُسِكُمۡۖ وَإِنۡ أَسَأۡتُمۡ فَلَهَاۚ فَإِذَا جَاۤءَ وَعۡدُ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ لِیَسُـࣳۤءُوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمۡ وَلِیَدۡخُلُوا۟ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةࣲ وَلِیُتَبِّرُوا۟ مَا عَلَوۡا۟ تَتۡبِیرًا ۝٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [And said], "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves." Then when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the temple in Jerusalem, as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction
Abdel Haleem: whether you do good or evil it is to your own souls––and when the second warning was fulfilled [We sent them] to shame your faces and enter the place of worship as they did the first time, and utterly destroy whatever fell into their power
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (Saying): If ye do good, ye do good for your own souls, and if ye do evil, it is for them (in like manner). So, when the time for the second (of the judgments) came (We roused against you others of Our slaves) to ravage you, and to enter the Temple even as they entered it the first time, and to lay waste all that they conquered with an utter wasting
Ta Ha 20:114 Verb
فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۗ وَلَا تَعۡجَلۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن یُقۡضَىٰۤ إِلَیۡكَ وَحۡیُهُۥۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِی عِلۡمࣰا ۝١١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So high [above all] is Allah , the Sovereign, the Truth. And, [O Muhammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur'an before its revelation is completed to you, and say, "My Lord, increase me in knowledge."
Abdel Haleem: exalted be God, the one who is truly in control. [Prophet], do not rush to recite before the revelation is fully complete but say, ‘Lord, increase me in knowledge!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then exalted be Allah, the True King! And hasten not (O Muhammad) with the Qur'an ere its revelation hath been perfected unto thee, and say: My Lord! Increase me in knowledge
Ta Ha 20:64 Verb
فَأَجۡمِعُوا۟ كَیۡدَكُمۡ ثُمَّ ٱئۡتُوا۟ صَفࣰّاۚ وَقَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ مَنِ ٱسۡتَعۡلَىٰ ۝٦٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So resolve upon your plan and then come [forward] in line. And he has succeeded today who overcomes."
Abdel Haleem: So gather your resources and line up for the contest. Whoever wins today is sure to prosper.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So arrange your plan, and come in battle line. Whoso is uppermost this day will be indeed successful
The Believers 23:116 Verb
فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡكَرِیمِ ۝١١٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So exalted is Allah , the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne
Abdel Haleem: Exalted be God, the true King, there is no god but Him, the Lord of the Glorious Throne
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Now Allah be Exalted, the True King! There is no Allah save Him, the Lord of the Throne of Grace
The Believers 23:91 Verb
مَا ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِن وَلَدࣲ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُۥ مِنۡ إِلَـٰهٍۚ إِذࣰا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَـٰهِۭ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝٩١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe [concerning Him]
Abdel Haleem: God has never had a child. Nor is there any god beside Him- if there were, each god would have taken his creation aside and tried to overcome the others. May God be exalted above what they describe
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah hath not chosen any son, nor is there any god along with Him; else would each god have assuredly championed that which he created, and some of them would assuredly have overcome others. Glorified be Allah above all that they allege
The Believers 23:92 Verb
عَـٰلِمِ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٩٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, so high is He above what they associate [with Him]
Abdel Haleem: He knows what is not seen as well as what is seen; He is far above any partner they claim for Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Knower of the Invisible and the Visible! and Exalted be He over all that they ascribe as partners (unto Him)
The Ant, The Ants 27:31 Verb
أَلَّا تَعۡلُوا۟ عَلَیَّ وَأۡتُونِی مُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Be not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims].' "
Abdel Haleem: do not put yourselves above me, and come to me in submission to God.”’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Exalt not yourselves against me, but come unto me as those who surrender
The Ant, The Ants 27:63 Verb
أَمَّن یَهۡدِیكُمۡ فِی ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ وَمَن یُرۡسِلُ ٱلرِّیَـٰحَ بُشۡرَۢا بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡ رَحۡمَتِهِۦۤۗ أَءِلَـٰهࣱ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ تَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٦٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allah ? High is Allah above whatever they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: Who is it that guides you through the darkness on land and sea? Who sends the winds as heralds of good news before His mercy? Is it another god beside God? God is far above the partners they put beside him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Is not He (best) Who guideth you in the darkness of the land and the sea, He Who sendeth the winds as heralds of His mercy? Is there any Allah beside Allah? High Exalted be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)
The Story, Stories, The Narrative 28:4 Verb
إِنَّ فِرۡعَوۡنَ عَلَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهۡلَهَا شِیَعࣰا یَسۡتَضۡعِفُ طَاۤىِٕفَةࣰ مِّنۡهُمۡ یُذَبِّحُ أَبۡنَاۤءَهُمۡ وَیَسۡتَحۡیِۦ نِسَاۤءَهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters
Abdel Haleem: Pharaoh made himself high and mighty in the land and divided the people into different groups: one group he oppressed, slaughtering their sons and sparing their women––he was one of those who spread corruption––
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! Pharaoh exalted himself in the earth and made its people castes. A tribe among them he oppressed, killing their sons and sparing their women. Lo! he was of those who work corruption
The Story, Stories, The Narrative 28:68 Verb
وَرَبُّكَ یَخۡلُقُ مَا یَشَاۤءُ وَیَخۡتَارُۗ مَا كَانَ لَهُمُ ٱلۡخِیَرَةُۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٦٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; not for them was the choice. Exalted is Allah and high above what they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: Your Lord creates what He pleases and chooses those He will- they have no choice- so glory be to God, and may He be exalted above the partners they ascribe to Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Thy Lord bringeth to pass what He willeth and chooseth. They have never any choice. Glorified be Allah and Exalted above all that they associate (with Him)
The Romans, The Byzantines 30:40 Verb
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَكُمۡ ثُمَّ رَزَقَكُمۡ ثُمَّ یُمِیتُكُمۡ ثُمَّ یُحۡیِیكُمۡۖ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَاۤىِٕكُم مَّن یَفۡعَلُ مِن ذَ ٰلِكُم مِّن شَیۡءࣲۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٤٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah is the one who created you, then provided for you, then will cause you to die, and then will give you life. Are there any of your "partners" who does anything of that? Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: It is God who created you and provided for you, who will cause you to die and then give you life again. Which of your ‘partners’ can do any one of these things? Glory be to God, and exalted be He above the partners they attribute to Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah is He Who created you and then sustained you, then causeth you to die, then giveth life to you again. Is there any of your (so-called) partners (of Allah) that doeth aught of that? Praised and Exalted be He above what they associate (with Him)
The Clans, The Coalition, The Combined Forces, The Allies 33:28 Verb
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّبِیُّ قُل لِّأَزۡوَ ٰجِكَ إِن كُنتُنَّ تُرِدۡنَ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَزِینَتَهَا فَتَعَالَیۡنَ أُمَتِّعۡكُنَّ وَأُسَرِّحۡكُنَّ سَرَاحࣰا جَمِیلࣰا ۝٢٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O Prophet, say to your wives, "If you should desire the worldly life and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and give you a gracious release
Abdel Haleem: Prophet, say to your wives,‘If your desire is for the present life and its finery, then come, I will make provision for you and release you with kindness
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O Prophet! Say unto thy wives: If ye desire the world's life and its adornment, come! I will content you and will release you with a fair release
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:67 Verb
وَمَا قَدَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدۡرِهِۦ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ جَمِیعࣰا قَبۡضَتُهُۥ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتُ مَطۡوِیَّـٰتُۢ بِیَمِینِهِۦۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: These people have no grasp of God’s true measure. On the Day of Resurrection, the whole earth will be in His grip. The heavens will be rolled up in His right hand- Glory be to Him! He is far above the partners they ascribe to Him!
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they esteem not Allah as He hath the right to be esteemed, when the whole earth is His handful on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens are rolled in His right hand. Glorified is He and High Exalted from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:167 Verb
وَلِیَعۡلَمَ ٱلَّذِینَ نَافَقُوا۟ۚ وَقِیلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ قَـٰتِلُوا۟ فِی سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ أَوِ ٱدۡفَعُوا۟ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَوۡ نَعۡلَمُ قِتَالࣰا لَّٱتَّبَعۡنَـٰكُمۡۗ هُمۡ لِلۡكُفۡرِ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ أَقۡرَبُ مِنۡهُمۡ لِلۡإِیمَـٰنِۚ یَقُولُونَ بِأَفۡوَ ٰهِهِم مَّا لَیۡسَ فِی قُلُوبِهِمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا یَكۡتُمُونَ ۝١٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And that He might make evident those who are hypocrites. For it was said to them, "Come, fight in the way of Allah or [at least] defend." They said, "If we had known [there would be] fighting, we would have followed you." They were nearer to disbelief that day than to faith, saying with their mouths what was not in their hearts. And Allah is most Knowing of what they conceal
Abdel Haleem: when it was said to them, ‘Come, fight for God’s cause, or at least defend yourselves,’ answered, ‘We would follow you if we knew there was going to be fighting.’ On that day they were closer to disbelief than belief. They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts: God knows exactly what they conceal
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And that He might know the hypocrites, unto whom it was said: Come, fight in the way of Allah, or defend yourselves. They answered: If we knew aught of fighting we would follow you. On that day they were nearer disbelief than faith. They utter with their mouths a thing which is not in their hearts. Allah is Best Aware of what they hide
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:61 Verb
فَمَنۡ حَاۤجَّكَ فِیهِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَاۤءَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ فَقُلۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ نَدۡعُ أَبۡنَاۤءَنَا وَأَبۡنَاۤءَكُمۡ وَنِسَاۤءَنَا وَنِسَاۤءَكُمۡ وَأَنفُسَنَا وَأَنفُسَكُمۡ ثُمَّ نَبۡتَهِلۡ فَنَجۡعَل لَّعۡنَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِینَ ۝٦١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then whoever argues with you about it after [this] knowledge has come to you - say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then supplicate earnestly [together] and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars [among us]."
Abdel Haleem: If anyone disputes this with you now that you have been given this knowledge, say, ‘Come, let us gather our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, and let us pray earnestly and invoke God’s rejection on those of us who are lying
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And whoso disputeth with thee concerning him, after the knowledge which hath come unto thee, say (unto him): Come! We will summon our sons and your sons, and our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves, then we will pray humbly (to our Lord) and (solemnly) invoke the curse of Allah upon those who lie
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:64 Verb
قُلۡ یَـٰۤأَهۡلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ تَعَالَوۡا۟ إِلَىٰ كَلِمَةࣲ سَوَاۤءِۭ بَیۡنَنَا وَبَیۡنَكُمۡ أَلَّا نَعۡبُدَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا أَرۡبَابࣰا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۚ فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡا۟ فَقُولُوا۟ ٱشۡهَدُوا۟ بِأَنَّا مُسۡلِمُونَ ۝٦٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah ." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘People of the Book, let us arrive at a statement that is common to us all: we worship God alone, we ascribe no partner to Him, and none of us takes others beside God as lords.’ If they turn away, say, ‘Witness our devotion to Him.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him)
Smoke, The Evident Smoke 44:19 Verb
وَأَن لَّا تَعۡلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّیۤ ءَاتِیكُم بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah . Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority
Abdel Haleem: Do not consider yourselves to be above God! I come to you with clear authority
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant
Women 4:61 Verb
وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ إِلَىٰ مَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ رَأَیۡتَ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِینَ یَصُدُّونَ عَنكَ صُدُودࣰا ۝٦١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when it is said to them, "Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Messenger," you see the hypocrites turning away from you in aversion
Abdel Haleem: When they are told, ‘Turn to God’s revelations and the Messenger [for judgement],’ you see the hypocrites turn right away from you [Prophet]
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when it is said unto them: Come unto that which Allah hath revealed and unto the messenger, thou seest the hypocrites turn from thee with aversion
The Table, The Table Spread 5:104 Verb
وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ إِلَىٰ مَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ قَالُوا۟ حَسۡبُنَا مَا وَجَدۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ ءَابَاۤءَنَاۤۚ أَوَ لَوۡ كَانَ ءَابَاۤؤُهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یَهۡتَدُونَ ۝١٠٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when it is said to them, "Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Messenger," they say, "Sufficient for us is that upon which we found our fathers." Even though their fathers knew nothing, nor were they guided
Abdel Haleem: when it is said to them, ‘Come to what God has sent down, and to the Messenger,’ they say, ‘What we inherited from our forefathers is good enough for us,’ even though their forefathers knew nothing and were not guided
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when it is said unto them: Come unto that which Allah hath revealed and unto the messenger, they say: Enough for us is that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though their fathers had no knowledge whatsoever, and no guidance
The Hypocrites 63:5 Verb
وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ یَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ لَوَّوۡا۟ رُءُوسَهُمۡ وَرَأَیۡتَهُمۡ یَصُدُّونَ وَهُم مُّسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when it is said to them, "Come, the Messenger of Allah will ask forgiveness for you," they turn their heads aside and you see them evading while they are arrogant
Abdel Haleem: They turn their heads away in disdain when they are told, ‘Come, so that the Messenger of God may ask forgiveness for you,’ and you see them walking away arrogantly
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when it is said unto them: Come! The messenger of Allah will ask forgiveness for you! they avert their faces and thou seest them turning away, disdainful
Cattle, Livestock 6:100 Verb
وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ شُرَكَاۤءَ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَخَلَقَهُمۡۖ وَخَرَقُوا۟ لَهُۥ بَنِینَ وَبَنَـٰتِۭ بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمࣲۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝١٠٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But they have attributed to Allah partners - the jinn, while He has created them - and have fabricated for Him sons and daughters. Exalted is He and high above what they describ
Abdel Haleem: Yet they made the jinn partners with God, though He created them, and without any true knowledge they attribute sons and daughters to Him. Glory be to Him! He is far higher than what they ascribe to Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Yet they ascribe as partners unto Him the jinn, although He did create them, and impute falsely, without knowledge, sons and daughters unto Him. Glorified be He and High Exalted above (all) that they ascribe (unto Him)
Cattle, Livestock 6:151 Verb
۞ قُلۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ أَتۡلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمۡ عَلَیۡكُمۡۖ أَلَّا تُشۡرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَیۡءࣰاۖ وَبِٱلۡوَ ٰلِدَیۡنِ إِحۡسَـٰنࣰاۖ وَلَا تَقۡتُلُوۤا۟ أَوۡلَـٰدَكُم مِّنۡ إِمۡلَـٰقࣲ نَّحۡنُ نَرۡزُقُكُمۡ وَإِیَّاهُمۡۖ وَلَا تَقۡرَبُوا۟ ٱلۡفَوَ ٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنۡهَا وَمَا بَطَنَۖ وَلَا تَقۡتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفۡسَ ٱلَّتِی حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘Come! I will tell you what your Lord has really forbidden you. Do not ascribe anything as a partner to Him; be good to your parents; do not kill your children in fear of poverty’- We will provide for you and for them- ‘ stay well away from committing obscenities, whether openly or in secret; do not take the life God has made sacred, except by right. This is what He commands you to do: perhaps you will use your reason
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: Come, I will recite unto you that which your Lord hath made a sacred duty for you: That ye ascribe no thing as partner unto Him and that ye do good to parents, and that ye slay not your children because of penury - We provide for you and for them - and that ye draw not nigh to lewd things whether open or concealed. And that ye slay not the life which Allah hath made sacred, save in the course of justice. This He hath command you, in order that ye may discern
The Jinn 72:3 Verb
وَأَنَّهُۥ تَعَـٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا ٱتَّخَذَ صَـٰحِبَةࣰ وَلَا وَلَدࣰا ۝٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a so
Abdel Haleem: and that He––exalted be the glory of our Lord!––has neither spouse nor child
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And (we believe) that He - exalted be the glory of our Lord! - hath taken neither wife nor son
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:190 Verb
فَلَمَّاۤ ءَاتَىٰهُمَا صَـٰلِحࣰا جَعَلَا لَهُۥ شُرَكَاۤءَ فِیمَاۤ ءَاتَىٰهُمَاۚ فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١٩٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But when He gives them a good [child], they ascribe partners to Him concerning that which He has given them. Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: and yet when He gives them a good child they ascribe some of what He has granted them to others
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: But when He gave unto them aright, they ascribed unto Him partners in respect of that which He had given them. High is He Exalted above all that they associate (with Him)
