al-Ahzab · Verse 72 of 73
إِنَّا عَرَضۡنَا ٱلۡأَمَانَةَ عَلَى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱلۡجِبَالِ فَأَبَیۡنَ أَن یَحۡمِلۡنَهَا وَأَشۡفَقۡنَ مِنۡهَا وَحَمَلَهَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ ظَلُومࣰا جَهُولࣰا ٧٢
innā ʿaraḍnā l-amānata ʿalā l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wal-jibāli fa-abayna an yaḥmil'nahā wa-ashfaqna min'hā waḥamalahā l-insānu innahu kāna ẓalūman jahūla
Abdel Haleem:
We offered the Trust to the heavens, the earth, and the mountains, yet they refused to undertake it and were afraid of it; mankind undertook it- they have always been inept and foolish
