وَأَنِ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ تُوبُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِ یُمَتِّعۡكُم مَّتَـٰعًا حَسَنًا إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّى وَیُؤۡتِ كُلَّ ذِی فَضۡلࣲ فَضۡلَهُۥۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّوۡا۟ فَإِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمࣲ كَبِیرٍ ۝٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

Seek the forgiveness of your Lord and turn to Him in repentance. He may award you a satisfactory life for an appointed time and bestow His abundant grace on all who are meritorious. But if you reject Him, I fear for you the penalty of an awesome day.

wa-ani is'taghfirū rabbakum thumma tūbū ilayhi yumattiʿ'kum matāʿan ḥasanan ilā ajalin musamman wayu'ti kulla dhī faḍlin faḍlahu wa-in tawallaw fa-innī akhāfu ʿalaykum ʿadhāba yawmin kabīri

11:4

إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدِیرٌ ۝٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

To Allah you will return, and His power extends over all.

ilā l-lahi marjiʿukum wahuwa ʿalā kulli shayin qadīru

11:5

أَلَاۤ إِنَّهُمۡ یَثۡنُونَ صُدُورَهُمۡ لِیَسۡتَخۡفُوا۟ مِنۡهُۚ أَلَا حِینَ یَسۡتَغۡشُونَ ثِیَابَهُمۡ یَعۡلَمُ مَا یُسِرُّونَ وَمَا یُعۡلِنُونَۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِیمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ۝٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Observe how they twist their hearts so they may be concealed from Him. Even when they shroud themselves, He knows what they conceal as well as what they reveal. He well knows the secrets of hearts.

alā innahum yathnūna ṣudūrahum liyastakhfū min'hu alā ḥīna yastaghshūna thiyābahum yaʿlamu mā yusirrūna wamā yuʿ'linūna innahu ʿalīmun bidhāti l-ṣudūr

11:6

۞ وَمَا مِن دَاۤبَّةࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ رِزۡقُهَا وَیَعۡلَمُ مُسۡتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسۡتَوۡدَعَهَاۚ كُلࣱّ فِی كِتَـٰبࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

There is not a mobile creature on the earth that does not depend on Allah for its sustenance. (Allah) knows (each creature’s) residence and its final destiny. Everything is perfectly recorded.

wamā min dābbatin fī l-arḍi illā ʿalā l-lahi riz'quhā wayaʿlamu mus'taqarrahā wamus'tawdaʿahā kullun fī kitābin mubīni

11:7

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِی سِتَّةِ أَیَّامࣲ وَكَانَ عَرۡشُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلۡمَاۤءِ لِیَبۡلُوَكُمۡ أَیُّكُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلࣰاۗ وَلَىِٕن قُلۡتَ إِنَّكُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ لَیَقُولَنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

He is the One who created the skies and the earth in six days. His throne was over the waters, so that He may test which among you are best in conduct. If you were to say, “You will be resurrected after death,” the unbelievers would certainly say, “Obviously, this is a cult.”

wahuwa alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa fī sittati ayyāmin wakāna ʿarshuhu ʿalā l-māi liyabluwakum ayyukum aḥsanu ʿamalan wala-in qul'ta innakum mabʿūthūna min baʿdi l-mawti layaqūlanna alladhīna kafarū in hādhā illā siḥ'run mubīnu

11:8

وَلَىِٕنۡ أَخَّرۡنَا عَنۡهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ إِلَىٰۤ أُمَّةࣲ مَّعۡدُودَةࣲ لَّیَقُولُنَّ مَا یَحۡبِسُهُۥۤۗ أَلَا یَوۡمَ یَأۡتِیهِمۡ لَیۡسَ مَصۡرُوفًا عَنۡهُمۡ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

If We delayed the penalty for them for a definite term, they would certainly say, “What is preventing it?” On the day it finally comes to them, nothing can divert it from them. They will be completely encircled by that which they used to mock.

wala-in akharnā ʿanhumu l-ʿadhāba ilā ummatin maʿdūdatin layaqūlunna mā yaḥbisuhu alā yawma yatīhim laysa maṣrūfan ʿanhum waḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziūn

11:9

وَلَىِٕنۡ أَذَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِنَّا رَحۡمَةࣰ ثُمَّ نَزَعۡنَـٰهَا مِنۡهُ إِنَّهُۥ لَیَءُوسࣱ كَفُورࣱ ۝٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

If We give humanity a taste of mercy from Us and then retrieve it, he/she surely falls into despair and loses faith.

wala-in adhaqnā l-insāna minnā raḥmatan thumma nazaʿnāhā min'hu innahu layaūsun kafūru

11:10

وَلَىِٕنۡ أَذَقۡنَـٰهُ نَعۡمَاۤءَ بَعۡدَ ضَرَّاۤءَ مَسَّتۡهُ لَیَقُولَنَّ ذَهَبَ ٱلسَّیِّءَاتُ عَنِّیۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَفَرِحࣱ فَخُورٌ ۝١٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

But then, if We give him/her a taste of grace after adversity has affected him/her, he/she is certain to say, “Misfortune has left me” [without acknowledging God’s involvement]. See how he/she falls into ecstasy and pride.

wala-in adhaqnāhu naʿmāa baʿda ḍarrāa massathu layaqūlanna dhahaba l-sayiātu ʿannī innahu lafariḥun fakhūru

11:11

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِینَ صَبَرُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُم مَّغۡفِرَةࣱ وَأَجۡرࣱ كَبِیرࣱ ۝١١

Linda "iLham" Barto

The exception is those who are patient and live righteously. For them are forgiveness and a great reward.

illā alladhīna ṣabarū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti ulāika lahum maghfiratun wa-ajrun kabīru

11:12

فَلَعَلَّكَ تَارِكُۢ بَعۡضَ مَا یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیۡكَ وَضَاۤىِٕقُۢ بِهِۦ صَدۡرُكَ أَن یَقُولُوا۟ لَوۡلَاۤ أُنزِلَ عَلَیۡهِ كَنزٌ أَوۡ جَاۤءَ مَعَهُۥ مَلَكٌۚ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ نَذِیرࣱۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ وَكِیلٌ ۝١٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Perhaps you are ignoring something inspired in you. Your heart may feel burdened if they say, “Why is a treasure not sent down for him?” or “Why does an angel not come with him?” You are here only to warn. Allah is the Trustee over everything.

falaʿallaka tārikun baʿḍa mā yūḥā ilayka waḍāiqun bihi ṣadruka an yaqūlū lawlā unzila ʿalayhi kanzun aw jāa maʿahu malakun innamā anta nadhīrun wal-lahu ʿalā kulli shayin wakīlu

11:13

أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ قُلۡ فَأۡتُوا۟ بِعَشۡرِ سُوَرࣲ مِّثۡلِهِۦ مُفۡتَرَیَـٰتࣲ وَٱدۡعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

They may say, “He made it up.” Say, “Bring ten made-upChapters like it. Call on whomever you can, besides Allah, if you speak the truth.

am yaqūlūna if'tarāhu qul fatū biʿashri suwarin mith'lihi muf'tarayātin wa-id'ʿū mani is'taṭaʿtum min dūni l-lahi in kuntum ṣādiqīn

11:14

فَإِلَّمۡ یَسۡتَجِیبُوا۟ لَكُمۡ فَٱعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّمَاۤ أُنزِلَ بِعِلۡمِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَن لَّاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ فَهَلۡ أَنتُم مُّسۡلِمُونَ ۝١٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

“If (your false gods) do not answer you, you must realize that (this revelation) is bestowed with the knowledge of Allah and that no god is there except Him. Will you then submit?”

fa-illam yastajībū lakum fa-iʿ'lamū annamā unzila biʿil'mi l-lahi wa-an lā ilāha illā huwa fahal antum mus'limūn

11:15

مَن كَانَ یُرِیدُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَزِینَتَهَا نُوَفِّ إِلَیۡهِمۡ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ فِیهَا وَهُمۡ فِیهَا لَا یُبۡخَسُونَ ۝١٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

To those who desire the worldly life and its glitter, We will pay them for their deeds, without any deductions.

man kāna yurīdu l-ḥayata l-dun'yā wazīnatahā nuwaffi ilayhim aʿmālahum fīhā wahum fīhā lā yub'khasūn

11:16

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَیۡسَ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ إِلَّا ٱلنَّارُۖ وَحَبِطَ مَا صَنَعُوا۟ فِیهَا وَبَـٰطِلࣱ مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

They are the ones for whom there is nothing in the hereafter except fire. What they have done is all in vain. Their deeds are worthless.

ulāika alladhīna laysa lahum fī l-ākhirati illā l-nāru waḥabiṭa mā ṣanaʿū fīhā wabāṭilun mā kānū yaʿmalūn

11:17

أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَیِّنَةࣲ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ وَیَتۡلُوهُ شَاهِدࣱ مِّنۡهُ وَمِن قَبۡلِهِۦ كِتَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰۤ إِمَامࣰا وَرَحۡمَةًۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦۚ وَمَن یَكۡفُرۡ بِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابِ فَٱلنَّارُ مَوۡعِدُهُۥۚ فَلَا تَكُ فِی مِرۡیَةࣲ مِّنۡهُۚ إِنَّهُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

Are they comparable to those who accept, from their Lord, clarification taught by a witness sent from Him? Like the Book of Moses before it, it is a source of guidance and mercy. They believe in it, but those sects that reject it will have the fire for their promised meeting place. Have no doubt about it! Indeed, it is truth from your Lord, although most people do not believe.

afaman kāna ʿalā bayyinatin min rabbihi wayatlūhu shāhidun min'hu wamin qablihi kitābu mūsā imāman waraḥmatan ulāika yu'minūna bihi waman yakfur bihi mina l-aḥzābi fal-nāru mawʿiduhu falā taku fī mir'yatin min'hu innahu l-ḥaqu min rabbika walākinna akthara l-nāsi lā yu'minūn

11:18

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًاۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یُعۡرَضُونَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ وَیَقُولُ ٱلۡأَشۡهَـٰدُ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡۚ أَلَا لَعۡنَةُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

Who is worse than those who invent a lie about Allah? They will return to the presence of their Lord. Witnesses will say, “These are they who lied about their Lord.” Undoubtedly, the condemnation of Allah is on those who sin.

waman aẓlamu mimmani if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban ulāika yuʿ'raḍūna ʿalā rabbihim wayaqūlu l-ashhādu hāulāi alladhīna kadhabū ʿalā rabbihim alā laʿnatu l-lahi ʿalā l-ẓālimīn

11:19

ٱلَّذِینَ یَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ وَیَبۡغُونَهَا عِوَجࣰا وَهُم بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ هُمۡ كَـٰفِرُونَ ۝١٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Those who create a hindrance from the path of Allah and look for something faulty in it are the same ones who deny life after death.

alladhīna yaṣuddūna ʿan sabīli l-lahi wayabghūnahā ʿiwajan wahum bil-ākhirati hum kāfirūn

11:20

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَمۡ یَكُونُوا۟ مُعۡجِزِینَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِنۡ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَۘ یُضَـٰعَفُ لَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٢٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

They cannot interfere [with Allah’s will] on Earth, and they have no protectors besides Allah. Their penalty will be doubled. They lost the power to understand, and they did not see.

ulāika lam yakūnū muʿ'jizīna fī l-arḍi wamā kāna lahum min dūni l-lahi min awliyāa yuḍāʿafu lahumu l-ʿadhābu mā kānū yastaṭīʿūna l-samʿa wamā kānū yub'ṣirūn

11:21

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ خَسِرُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَضَلَّ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝٢١

Linda "iLham" Barto

They lost their own souls, and what they invented did them no good.

ulāika alladhīna khasirū anfusahum waḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūn

11:22

لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلۡأَخۡسَرُونَ ۝٢٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Without a doubt, they will lose the most in the afterlife.

lā jarama annahum fī l-ākhirati humu l-akhsarūn

11:23

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَأَخۡبَتُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡجَنَّةِۖ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٢٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

Those who believe, perform righteousness, and humble themselves before their Lord, however, will be companions of the Garden, where they will live forever.

inna alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti wa-akhbatū ilā rabbihim ulāika aṣḥābu l-janati hum fīhā khālidūn

11:24

۞ مَثَلُ ٱلۡفَرِیقَیۡنِ كَٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ وَٱلۡأَصَمِّ وَٱلۡبَصِیرِ وَٱلسَّمِیعِۚ هَلۡ یَسۡتَوِیَانِ مَثَلًاۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٢٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

These two kinds [of people] may be compared to those who won’t see or hear to those who do see and hear. Are they equal when compared? Will you not pay attention?

mathalu l-farīqayni kal-aʿmā wal-aṣami wal-baṣīri wal-samīʿi hal yastawiyāni mathalan afalā tadhakkarūn

11:25

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦۤ إِنِّی لَكُمۡ نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝٢٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

We certainly sent Noah to his people. “Indeed, I am a clear warner for you.

walaqad arsalnā nūḥan ilā qawmihi innī lakum nadhīrun mubīnu

11:26

أَن لَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَۖ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ أَلِیمࣲ ۝٢٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Worship only Allah. Truly, I fear for you the penalty of a dreadful day.”

an lā taʿbudū illā l-laha innī akhāfu ʿalaykum ʿadhāba yawmin alīmi

11:27

فَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦ مَا نَرَىٰكَ إِلَّا بَشَرࣰا مِّثۡلَنَا وَمَا نَرَىٰكَ ٱتَّبَعَكَ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ أَرَاذِلُنَا بَادِیَ ٱلرَّأۡیِ وَمَا نَرَىٰ لَكُمۡ عَلَیۡنَا مِن فَضۡلِۭ بَلۡ نَظُنُّكُمۡ كَـٰذِبِینَ ۝٢٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

The leaders of the unbelievers among his people said, “We don’t see you as anything except a man like us. We also don’t see anyone following you except the ordinary people without good judgment. We don’t see that you have any merit above us. In fact, we think that you [along with your family] are all liars.”

faqāla l-mala-u alladhīna kafarū min qawmihi mā narāka illā basharan mith'lanā wamā narāka ittabaʿaka illā alladhīna hum arādhilunā bādiya l-rayi wamā narā lakum ʿalaynā min faḍlin bal naẓunnukum kādhibīn

11:28

قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ أَرَءَیۡتُمۡ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَیِّنَةࣲ مِّن رَّبِّی وَءَاتَىٰنِی رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنۡ عِندِهِۦ فَعُمِّیَتۡ عَلَیۡكُمۡ أَنُلۡزِمُكُمُوهَا وَأَنتُمۡ لَهَا كَـٰرِهُونَ ۝٢٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

(Noah) said, “O my people, do you see that I have a clear sign from my Lord? He has sent mercy to me from His own presence. (That mercy) has been obscured from you. Should we force you to accept it when you are averse to it?

qāla yāqawmi ara-aytum in kuntu ʿalā bayyinatin min rabbī waātānī raḥmatan min ʿindihi faʿummiyat ʿalaykum anul'zimukumūhā wa-antum lahā kārihūn

11:29

وَیَـٰقَوۡمِ لَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مَالًاۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ۚ إِنَّهُم مُّلَـٰقُوا۟ رَبِّهِمۡ وَلَـٰكِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰكُمۡ قَوۡمࣰا تَجۡهَلُونَ ۝٢٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

O my people, I ask you for no wealth in return. My reward is only from Allah, but I will not reject any who believe. Truly, they are to meet their Lord. You, I see, are the ignorant ones.

wayāqawmi lā asalukum ʿalayhi mālan in ajriya illā ʿalā l-lahi wamā anā biṭāridi alladhīna āmanū innahum mulāqū rabbihim walākinnī arākum qawman tajhalūn

11:30

وَیَـٰقَوۡمِ مَن یَنصُرُنِی مِنَ ٱللَّهِ إِن طَرَدتُّهُمۡۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٣٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

O my people, who would help me against Allah if I rejected them? Won’t you take heed?”

wayāqawmi man yanṣurunī mina l-lahi in ṭaradttuhum afalā tadhakkarūn

11:31

وَلَاۤ أَقُولُ لَكُمۡ عِندِی خَزَاۤىِٕنُ ٱللَّهِ وَلَاۤ أَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبَ وَلَاۤ أَقُولُ إِنِّی مَلَكࣱ وَلَاۤ أَقُولُ لِلَّذِینَ تَزۡدَرِیۤ أَعۡیُنُكُمۡ لَن یُؤۡتِیَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ خَیۡرًاۖ ٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا فِیۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡ إِنِّیۤ إِذࣰا لَّمِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٣١

Linda "iLham" Barto

I am not telling you that the treasures of Allah are with me. I don’t know what is hidden. I don’t claim to be an angel. I don’t say of those you despise that Allah will not grant them what is good. Allah knows best what is in their souls. If I did that, I would be wrong.”

walā aqūlu lakum ʿindī khazāinu l-lahi walā aʿlamu l-ghayba walā aqūlu innī malakun walā aqūlu lilladhīna tazdarī aʿyunukum lan yu'tiyahumu l-lahu khayran l-lahu aʿlamu bimā fī anfusihim innī idhan lamina l-ẓālimīn

11:32

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰنُوحُ قَدۡ جَـٰدَلۡتَنَا فَأَكۡثَرۡتَ جِدَ ٰلَنَا فَأۡتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَاۤ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝٣٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

They said, “O Noah, you have certainly argued with us and have prolonged the argument with us. Now, bring upon us that with which you have threatened us, if you’re telling the truth.”

qālū yānūḥu qad jādaltanā fa-aktharta jidālanā fatinā bimā taʿidunā in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn

11:33

قَالَ إِنَّمَا یَأۡتِیكُم بِهِ ٱللَّهُ إِن شَاۤءَ وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ ۝٣٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

He said, “Truly, Allah will bring it upon you if He wills. Then you will not be able to stop it.

qāla innamā yatīkum bihi l-lahu in shāa wamā antum bimuʿ'jizīn

11:34

وَلَا یَنفَعُكُمۡ نُصۡحِیۤ إِنۡ أَرَدتُّ أَنۡ أَنصَحَ لَكُمۡ إِن كَانَ ٱللَّهُ یُرِیدُ أَن یُغۡوِیَكُمۡۚ هُوَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٣٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

“My counsel will not help you, as much as I desire to give you counsel. If it is Allah’s will to leave you astray, He is your Lord. To Him you will return.”

walā yanfaʿukum nuṣ'ḥī in aradttu an anṣaḥa lakum in kāna l-lahu yurīdu an yugh'wiyakum huwa rabbukum wa-ilayhi tur'jaʿūn

11:35

أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ قُلۡ إِنِ ٱفۡتَرَیۡتُهُۥ فَعَلَیَّ إِجۡرَامِی وَأَنَا۠ بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٣٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Do they say, “He has faked (this Qur’an)?” Say, “If I had faked it, my sin would be upon me. I am innocent of the sins you commit.”

am yaqūlūna if'tarāhu qul ini if'taraytuhu faʿalayya ij'rāmī wa-anā barīon mimmā tuj'rimūn

11:36

وَأُوحِیَ إِلَىٰ نُوحٍ أَنَّهُۥ لَن یُؤۡمِنَ مِن قَوۡمِكَ إِلَّا مَن قَدۡ ءَامَنَ فَلَا تَبۡتَىِٕسۡ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٣٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

It was revealed to Noah, “None of your people will believe except those who have already believed. Do not grieve over their deeds any longer.

waūḥiya ilā nūḥin annahu lan yu'mina min qawmika illā man qad āmana falā tabta-is bimā kānū yafʿalūn

11:37

وَٱصۡنَعِ ٱلۡفُلۡكَ بِأَعۡیُنِنَا وَوَحۡیِنَا وَلَا تُخَـٰطِبۡنِی فِی ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوۤا۟ إِنَّهُم مُّغۡرَقُونَ ۝٣٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

“Build an ark under Our eyes and according to Our inspiration. No longer speak to Me on behalf of those lost in sin. They will surely be drowned.”

wa-iṣ'naʿi l-ful'ka bi-aʿyuninā wawaḥyinā walā tukhāṭib'nī fī alladhīna ẓalamū innahum mugh'raqūn

11:38

وَیَصۡنَعُ ٱلۡفُلۡكَ وَكُلَّمَا مَرَّ عَلَیۡهِ مَلَأࣱ مِّن قَوۡمِهِۦ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنۡهُۚ قَالَ إِن تَسۡخَرُوا۟ مِنَّا فَإِنَّا نَسۡخَرُ مِنكُمۡ كَمَا تَسۡخَرُونَ ۝٣٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

(Noah) began construction of the ark. Whenever leaders of his people passed, they ridiculed him [and his family], but he said, “Taunt us now, but we scoff at you even as you ridicule us.

wayaṣnaʿu l-ful'ka wakullamā marra ʿalayhi mala-on min qawmihi sakhirū min'hu qāla in taskharū minnā fa-innā naskharu minkum kamā taskharūn

11:39

فَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ مَن یَأۡتِیهِ عَذَابࣱ یُخۡزِیهِ وَیَحِلُّ عَلَیۡهِ عَذَابࣱ مُّقِیمٌ ۝٣٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

“Soon you will realize on whom will descend a penalty that will shame and on whom will be unleashed a lasting penalty.”

fasawfa taʿlamūna man yatīhi ʿadhābun yukh'zīhi wayaḥillu ʿalayhi ʿadhābun muqīmu

11:40

حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُنَا وَفَارَ ٱلتَّنُّورُ قُلۡنَا ٱحۡمِلۡ فِیهَا مِن كُلࣲّ زَوۡجَیۡنِ ٱثۡنَیۡنِ وَأَهۡلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ وَمَنۡ ءَامَنَۚ وَمَاۤ ءَامَنَ مَعَهُۥۤ إِلَّا قَلِیلࣱ ۝٤٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

Finally Our command emerged, and the earthen oven boiled over. We commanded [Noah], “Embark, along with a pair [male and female] of each creature, and with your family, except those [family members] against whom the Word has already gone against, and with other believers.” But only a few believed with him.

ḥattā idhā jāa amrunā wafāra l-tanūru qul'nā iḥ'mil fīhā min kullin zawjayni ith'nayni wa-ahlaka illā man sabaqa ʿalayhi l-qawlu waman āmana wamā āmana maʿahu illā qalīlu

11:41

۞ وَقَالَ ٱرۡكَبُوا۟ فِیهَا بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ مَجۡر۪ىٰهَا وَمُرۡسَىٰهَاۤۚ إِنَّ رَبِّی لَغَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝٤١

Linda "iLham" Barto

(Noah) then ordered, “Board the ark! In the Name of Allah are its passage and its anchoring. My Lord is surely the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.”

waqāla ir'kabū fīhā bis'mi l-lahi majrahā wamur'sāhā inna rabbī laghafūrun raḥīmu

11:42

وَهِیَ تَجۡرِی بِهِمۡ فِی مَوۡجࣲ كَٱلۡجِبَالِ وَنَادَىٰ نُوحٌ ٱبۡنَهُۥ وَكَانَ فِی مَعۡزِلࣲ یَـٰبُنَیَّ ٱرۡكَب مَّعَنَا وَلَا تَكُن مَّعَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٤٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

(The ark) floated with them on mountainous waves, and Noah called out to his son who had estranged himself, “O my son, come on board with us and do not be among the unbelievers.”

wahiya tajrī bihim fī mawjin kal-jibāli wanādā nūḥun ib'nahu wakāna fī maʿzilin yābunayya ir'kab maʿanā walā takun maʿa l-kāfirīn

11:43

قَالَ سَءَاوِیۤ إِلَىٰ جَبَلࣲ یَعۡصِمُنِی مِنَ ٱلۡمَاۤءِۚ قَالَ لَا عَاصِمَ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ مِنۡ أَمۡرِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَۚ وَحَالَ بَیۡنَهُمَا ٱلۡمَوۡجُ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُغۡرَقِینَ ۝٤٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

(The son) replied, “I will take refuge on some mountain where I will be safe from the [rising] waters.” (Noah) said, “This day there is no rescue from the command of Allah except for those on whom He has shown mercy.” Then the waves swelled between them, and (the son) became among those who drowned.

qāla saāwī ilā jabalin yaʿṣimunī mina l-māi qāla lā ʿāṣima l-yawma min amri l-lahi illā man raḥima waḥāla baynahumā l-mawju fakāna mina l-mugh'raqīn

11:44

وَقِیلَ یَـٰۤأَرۡضُ ٱبۡلَعِی مَاۤءَكِ وَیَـٰسَمَاۤءُ أَقۡلِعِی وَغِیضَ ٱلۡمَاۤءُ وَقُضِیَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ وَٱسۡتَوَتۡ عَلَى ٱلۡجُودِیِّۖ وَقِیلَ بُعۡدࣰا لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٤٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

It was commanded, “O Earth, swallow your water! O Sky, hold back! The water stopped, and the command was fulfilled. (The ark) came to a stop on Mount Judi. It was commanded, “Away with the sinners!”

waqīla yāarḍu ib'laʿī māaki wayāsamāu aqliʿī waghīḍa l-māu waquḍiya l-amru wa-is'tawat ʿalā l-jūdiyi waqīla buʿ'dan lil'qawmi l-ẓālimīn

11:45

وَنَادَىٰ نُوحࣱ رَّبَّهُۥ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ ٱبۡنِی مِنۡ أَهۡلِی وَإِنَّ وَعۡدَكَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَأَنتَ أَحۡكَمُ ٱلۡحَـٰكِمِینَ ۝٤٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Noah called upon his Lord and said, “O my Lord, my son is certainly of my family, and certainly Your promise is true. You are the fairest of judges.”

wanādā nūḥun rabbahu faqāla rabbi inna ib'nī min ahlī wa-inna waʿdaka l-ḥaqu wa-anta aḥkamu l-ḥākimīn

11:46

قَالَ یَـٰنُوحُ إِنَّهُۥ لَیۡسَ مِنۡ أَهۡلِكَۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَمَلٌ غَیۡرُ صَـٰلِحࣲۖ فَلَا تَسۡءَلۡنِ مَا لَیۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌۖ إِنِّیۤ أَعِظُكَ أَن تَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلِینَ ۝٤٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

(Allah) said, “O Noah, he is not of your family because his behavior is sinful. Do not question Me about things you do not understand. I admonish you so that you won’t be among the ignorant.

qāla yānūḥu innahu laysa min ahlika innahu ʿamalun ghayru ṣāliḥin falā tasalni mā laysa laka bihi ʿil'mun innī aʿiẓuka an takūna mina l-jāhilīn

11:47

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّیۤ أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنۡ أَسۡءَلَكَ مَا لَیۡسَ لِی بِهِۦ عِلۡمࣱۖ وَإِلَّا تَغۡفِرۡ لِی وَتَرۡحَمۡنِیۤ أَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِینَ ۝٤٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

(Noah) said, “O my Lord, I do indeed seek refuge with You so that I won’t question you about things I do not understand. Unless You forgive me and have mercy on me, I will be among the losers.”

qāla rabbi innī aʿūdhu bika an asalaka mā laysa lī bihi ʿil'mun wa-illā taghfir lī watarḥamnī akun mina l-khāsirīn

11:48

قِیلَ یَـٰنُوحُ ٱهۡبِطۡ بِسَلَـٰمࣲ مِّنَّا وَبَرَكَـٰتٍ عَلَیۡكَ وَعَلَىٰۤ أُمَمࣲ مِّمَّن مَّعَكَۚ وَأُمَمࣱ سَنُمَتِّعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ یَمَسُّهُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٤٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

It was said, “O Noah, come down [from the ark] with peace from Us. Blessings on you and on some of the people (to come from) you! There will be people [descending from you] to whom We will allow [temporal] pleasure, but a horrid punishment will come to them from Us.”

qīla yānūḥu ih'biṭ bisalāmin minnā wabarakātin ʿalayka waʿalā umamin mimman maʿaka wa-umamun sanumattiʿuhum thumma yamassuhum minnā ʿadhābun alīmu

11:49

تِلۡكَ مِنۡ أَنۢبَاۤءِ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ نُوحِیهَاۤ إِلَیۡكَۖ مَا كُنتَ تَعۡلَمُهَاۤ أَنتَ وَلَا قَوۡمُكَ مِن قَبۡلِ هَـٰذَاۖ فَٱصۡبِرۡۖ إِنَّ ٱلۡعَـٰقِبَةَ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٤٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

These are some of the episodes you have not seen. We have revealed them to you. Before this [Qur’an], you and your people did not know them. Certainly be patient. The finale is for the righteous.

til'ka min anbāi l-ghaybi nūḥīhā ilayka mā kunta taʿlamuhā anta walā qawmuka min qabli hādhā fa-iṣ'bir inna l-ʿāqibata lil'muttaqīn

11:50

وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمۡ هُودࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۖ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا مُفۡتَرُونَ ۝٥٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

We sent Heber to the Ad people. He was one of their own people. He said, “O my people, worship Allah. You have no god except Him. You only invent [other gods].

wa-ilā ʿādin akhāhum hūdan qāla yāqawmi uʿ'budū l-laha mā lakum min ilāhin ghayruhu in antum illā muf'tarūn

11:51

یَـٰقَوۡمِ لَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ أَجۡرًاۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِی فَطَرَنِیۤۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٥١

Linda "iLham" Barto

O my people, I ask no reward for (this message). My reward is only from He who created me. Will you not try to understand?

yāqawmi lā asalukum ʿalayhi ajran in ajriya illā ʿalā alladhī faṭaranī afalā taʿqilūn

11:52

وَیَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ تُوبُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِ یُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ عَلَیۡكُم مِّدۡرَارࣰا وَیَزِدۡكُمۡ قُوَّةً إِلَىٰ قُوَّتِكُمۡ وَلَا تَتَوَلَّوۡا۟ مُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٥٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

“O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord. Turn to Him in repentance. He will give you skies that pour abundant rain. He will add strength to your strength. Do not return to sin.”

wayāqawmi is'taghfirū rabbakum thumma tūbū ilayhi yur'sili l-samāa ʿalaykum mid'rāran wayazid'kum quwwatan ilā quwwatikum walā tatawallaw muj'rimīn

11:53

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰهُودُ مَا جِئۡتَنَا بِبَیِّنَةࣲ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِتَارِكِیۤ ءَالِهَتِنَا عَن قَوۡلِكَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكَ بِمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

They said, “O Heber, you have not brought us any clear evidence. We will not forsake our gods on your say-so. We don’t believe you.

qālū yāhūdu mā ji'tanā bibayyinatin wamā naḥnu bitārikī ālihatinā ʿan qawlika wamā naḥnu laka bimu'minīn

11:54

إِن نَّقُولُ إِلَّا ٱعۡتَرَىٰكَ بَعۡضُ ءَالِهَتِنَا بِسُوۤءࣲۗ قَالَ إِنِّیۤ أُشۡهِدُ ٱللَّهَ وَٱشۡهَدُوۤا۟ أَنِّی بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٥٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

“The only thing we can say is that some of our gods have made you crazy.” (Heber) said, “I call Allah to witness, and you also can witness, that I am innocent of assigning with Him…

in naqūlu illā iʿ'tarāka baʿḍu ālihatinā bisūin qāla innī ush'hidu l-laha wa-ish'hadū annī barīon mimmā tush'rikūn

11:55

مِن دُونِهِۦۖ فَكِیدُونِی جَمِیعࣰا ثُمَّ لَا تُنظِرُونِ ۝٥٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

“…what [gods] you associate. All of you can scheme against me and give me no rest.

min dūnihi fakīdūnī jamīʿan thumma lā tunẓirūn

11:56

إِنِّی تَوَكَّلۡتُ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ رَبِّی وَرَبِّكُمۚ مَّا مِن دَاۤبَّةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ ءَاخِذُۢ بِنَاصِیَتِهَاۤۚ إِنَّ رَبِّی عَلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٥٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

“Truly, I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no moving creature that He does not have by the frontal lobes. Truly, my Lord is on the Straight Way.

innī tawakkaltu ʿalā l-lahi rabbī warabbikum mā min dābbatin illā huwa ākhidhun bināṣiyatihā inna rabbī ʿalā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi

11:57

فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡا۟ فَقَدۡ أَبۡلَغۡتُكُم مَّاۤ أُرۡسِلۡتُ بِهِۦۤ إِلَیۡكُمۡۚ وَیَسۡتَخۡلِفُ رَبِّی قَوۡمًا غَیۡرَكُمۡ وَلَا تَضُرُّونَهُۥ شَیۡءًاۚ إِنَّ رَبِّی عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءٍ حَفِیظࣱ ۝٥٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

“If you turn away, I have conveyed (the message) given to me for you. My Lord will make another people to succeed you. You will not harm Him in the least. Certainly, my Lord is the Preserver of all things.”

fa-in tawallaw faqad ablaghtukum mā ur'sil'tu bihi ilaykum wayastakhlifu rabbī qawman ghayrakum walā taḍurrūnahu shayan inna rabbī ʿalā kulli shayin ḥafīẓu

11:58

وَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُنَا نَجَّیۡنَا هُودࣰا وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحۡمَةࣲ مِّنَّا وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُم مِّنۡ عَذَابٍ غَلِیظࣲ ۝٥٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

When Our command came, We saved Heber and those who believed with him by grace from Us. We saved them from a severe penalty.

walammā jāa amrunā najjaynā hūdan wa-alladhīna āmanū maʿahu biraḥmatin minnā wanajjaynāhum min ʿadhābin ghalīẓi

11:59

وَتِلۡكَ عَادࣱۖ جَحَدُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَعَصَوۡا۟ رُسُلَهُۥ وَٱتَّبَعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِیدࣲ ۝٥٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Such was Ad! They rejected the signs of their Lord. They disobeyed His messengers and followed the leadership of every arrogant sinner.

watil'ka ʿādun jaḥadū biāyāti rabbihim waʿaṣaw rusulahu wa-ittabaʿū amra kulli jabbārin ʿanīdi

11:60

وَأُتۡبِعُوا۟ فِی هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا لَعۡنَةࣰ وَیَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۗ أَلَاۤ إِنَّ عَادࣰا كَفَرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمۡۗ أَلَا بُعۡدࣰا لِّعَادࣲ قَوۡمِ هُودࣲ ۝٦٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

They were pursued by condemnation in this life and on the Day of Judgment. No doubt about it! The Ad really did reject their Lord. Away with the Ad, the people of Heber!

wa-ut'biʿū fī hādhihi l-dun'yā laʿnatan wayawma l-qiyāmati alā inna ʿādan kafarū rabbahum alā buʿ'dan liʿādin qawmi hūdi

11:61

۞ وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمۡ صَـٰلِحࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۖ هُوَ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱسۡتَعۡمَرَكُمۡ فِیهَا فَٱسۡتَغۡفِرُوهُ ثُمَّ تُوبُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِۚ إِنَّ رَبِّی قَرِیبࣱ مُّجِیبࣱ ۝٦١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Salih went to the Thamud. He was one of their own people. He said, “O my people, worship Allah. You have no god except Him. He created you from the earth and settled you on it. Ask His forgiveness. Repent to Him. Truly, my Lord is near. [He is] the Responder to Prayer.”

wa-ilā thamūda akhāhum ṣāliḥan qāla yāqawmi uʿ'budū l-laha mā lakum min ilāhin ghayruhu huwa ansha-akum mina l-arḍi wa-is'taʿmarakum fīhā fa-is'taghfirūhu thumma tūbū ilayhi inna rabbī qarībun mujību

11:62

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰصَـٰلِحُ قَدۡ كُنتَ فِینَا مَرۡجُوࣰّا قَبۡلَ هَـٰذَاۤۖ أَتَنۡهَىٰنَاۤ أَن نَّعۡبُدَ مَا یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا وَإِنَّنَا لَفِی شَكࣲّ مِّمَّا تَدۡعُونَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ مُرِیبࣲ ۝٦٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

They said, “O Salih, you have been one of us. Before this, we had high hopes for you. Do you forbid us to worship the way our fathers worshiped? We really doubt and are suspicious of what you are telling us.”

qālū yāṣāliḥu qad kunta fīnā marjuwwan qabla hādhā atanhānā an naʿbuda mā yaʿbudu ābāunā wa-innanā lafī shakkin mimmā tadʿūnā ilayhi murībi

11:63

قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ أَرَءَیۡتُمۡ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَیِّنَةࣲ مِّن رَّبِّی وَءَاتَىٰنِی مِنۡهُ رَحۡمَةࣰ فَمَن یَنصُرُنِی مِنَ ٱللَّهِ إِنۡ عَصَیۡتُهُۥۖ فَمَا تَزِیدُونَنِی غَیۡرَ تَخۡسِیرࣲ ۝٦٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

He said, “O my people, do you see that I have evidence from my Lord and He has sent mercy to me from Himself? Who could help me against Allah if I disobeyed Him? What could you add besides loss?

qāla yāqawmi ara-aytum in kuntu ʿalā bayyinatin min rabbī waātānī min'hu raḥmatan faman yanṣurunī mina l-lahi in ʿaṣaytuhu famā tazīdūnanī ghayra takhsīri

11:64

وَیَـٰقَوۡمِ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةُ ٱللَّهِ لَكُمۡ ءَایَةࣰۖ فَذَرُوهَا تَأۡكُلۡ فِیۤ أَرۡضِ ٱللَّهِۖ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوۤءࣲ فَیَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابࣱ قَرِیبࣱ ۝٦٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

“O my people, this female camel of Allah is a sign for you. Let her eat from Allah’s earth and inflict no harm on her, or a swift penalty will be upon you.”

wayāqawmi hādhihi nāqatu l-lahi lakum āyatan fadharūhā takul fī arḍi l-lahi walā tamassūhā bisūin fayakhudhakum ʿadhābun qarību

11:65

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَقَالَ تَمَتَّعُوا۟ فِی دَارِكُمۡ ثَلَـٰثَةَ أَیَّامࣲۖ ذَ ٰلِكَ وَعۡدٌ غَیۡرُ مَكۡذُوبࣲ ۝٦٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

But they butchered her. He said, “Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. A promise will come, which cannot be denied.”

faʿaqarūhā faqāla tamattaʿū fī dārikum thalāthata ayyāmin dhālika waʿdun ghayru makdhūbi

11:66

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُنَا نَجَّیۡنَا صَـٰلِحࣰا وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحۡمَةࣲ مِّنَّا وَمِنۡ خِزۡیِ یَوۡمِىِٕذٍۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلۡقَوِیُّ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ۝٦٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

When Our command went out, We saved Salih and those who believed with him, by grace from Us. We saved them from the shame of that day. Your Lord is the Strongest, the Victorious.

falammā jāa amrunā najjaynā ṣāliḥan wa-alladhīna āmanū maʿahu biraḥmatin minnā wamin khiz'yi yawmi-idhin inna rabbaka huwa l-qawiyu l-ʿazīz

11:67

وَأَخَذَ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ فَأَصۡبَحُوا۟ فِی دِیَـٰرِهِمۡ جَـٰثِمِینَ ۝٦٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

The mighty blast [of an earthquake] overcame the sinners. They lay flattened in their homes.

wa-akhadha alladhīna ẓalamū l-ṣayḥatu fa-aṣbaḥū fī diyārihim jāthimīn

11:68

كَأَن لَّمۡ یَغۡنَوۡا۟ فِیهَاۤۗ أَلَاۤ إِنَّ ثَمُودَا۟ كَفَرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمۡۗ أَلَا بُعۡدࣰا لِّثَمُودَ ۝٦٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

It became as if they had never lived there. No doubt about it! The Thamud rejected their Lord. Away with the Thamud!

ka-an lam yaghnaw fīhā alā inna thamūdā kafarū rabbahum alā buʿ'dan lithamūd

11:69

وَلَقَدۡ جَاۤءَتۡ رُسُلُنَاۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ بِٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ قَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمࣰاۖ قَالَ سَلَـٰمࣱۖ فَمَا لَبِثَ أَن جَاۤءَ بِعِجۡلٍ حَنِیذࣲ ۝٦٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Our messengers certainly came to Abraham with good news. They said, “Peace!” He answered, “Peace!” He hurried to offer them a roasted calf.

walaqad jāat rusulunā ib'rāhīma bil-bush'rā qālū salāman qāla salāmun famā labitha an jāa biʿij'lin ḥanīdhi

11:70

فَلَمَّا رَءَاۤ أَیۡدِیَهُمۡ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَیۡهِ نَكِرَهُمۡ وَأَوۡجَسَ مِنۡهُمۡ خِیفَةࣰۚ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفۡ إِنَّاۤ أُرۡسِلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِ لُوطࣲ ۝٧٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

When he saw that they did not touch it, he became suspicious and fearful of them. They said, “Have no fear. Indeed, we have been sent against the people of Lot.”

falammā raā aydiyahum lā taṣilu ilayhi nakirahum wa-awjasa min'hum khīfatan qālū lā takhaf innā ur'sil'nā ilā qawmi lūṭi

11:71

وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ قَاۤىِٕمَةࣱ فَضَحِكَتۡ فَبَشَّرۡنَـٰهَا بِإِسۡحَـٰقَ وَمِن وَرَاۤءِ إِسۡحَـٰقَ یَعۡقُوبَ ۝٧١

Linda "iLham" Barto

(Abraham’s) wife was standing. She laughed when We gave her the good news of Isaac and, after him, Jacob.

wa-im'ra-atuhu qāimatun faḍaḥikat fabasharnāhā bi-is'ḥāqa wamin warāi is'ḥāqa yaʿqūb

11:72

قَالَتۡ یَـٰوَیۡلَتَىٰۤ ءَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا۠ عَجُوزࣱ وَهَـٰذَا بَعۡلِی شَیۡخًاۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَیۡءٌ عَجِیبࣱ ۝٧٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

She said, “Oh, me! Shall I bear a child now that I am an old woman and my husband is an old man? That would certainly be amazing!”

qālat yāwaylatā a-alidu wa-anā ʿajūzun wahādhā baʿlī shaykhan inna hādhā lashayon ʿajību

11:73

قَالُوۤا۟ أَتَعۡجَبِینَ مِنۡ أَمۡرِ ٱللَّهِۖ رَحۡمَتُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَـٰتُهُۥ عَلَیۡكُمۡ أَهۡلَ ٱلۡبَیۡتِۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَمِیدࣱ مَّجِیدࣱ ۝٧٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

They said, “Do you marvel at Allah’s command? The grace of Allah and His blessings on you, O People of the house! He is indeed the Most Praiseworthy, the Majestic.”

qālū ataʿjabīna min amri l-lahi raḥmatu l-lahi wabarakātuhu ʿalaykum ahla l-bayti innahu ḥamīdun majīdu

11:74

فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ عَنۡ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ٱلرَّوۡعُ وَجَاۤءَتۡهُ ٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ یُجَـٰدِلُنَا فِی قَوۡمِ لُوطٍ ۝٧٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

After fear had passed from Abraham and he had received the good news, he began to plead with Us on behalf of Lot’s people.

falammā dhahaba ʿan ib'rāhīma l-rawʿu wajāathu l-bush'rā yujādilunā fī qawmi lūṭi

11:75

إِنَّ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ لَحَلِیمٌ أَوَّ ٰهࣱ مُّنِیبࣱ ۝٧٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Abraham was, without a doubt, patient, compassionate, and dedicated.

inna ib'rāhīma laḥalīmun awwāhun munību

11:76

یَـٰۤإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ أَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡ هَـٰذَاۤۖ إِنَّهُۥ قَدۡ جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُ رَبِّكَۖ وَإِنَّهُمۡ ءَاتِیهِمۡ عَذَابٌ غَیۡرُ مَرۡدُودࣲ ۝٧٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

“O Abraham, do not seek this. Indeed, the command has already been declared by your Lord. Indeed, for them is a penalty that cannot be turned away.”

yāib'rāhīmu aʿriḍ ʿan hādhā innahu qad jāa amru rabbika wa-innahum ātīhim ʿadhābun ghayru mardūdi

11:77

وَلَمَّا جَاۤءَتۡ رُسُلُنَا لُوطࣰا سِیۤءَ بِهِمۡ وَضَاقَ بِهِمۡ ذَرۡعࣰا وَقَالَ هَـٰذَا یَوۡمٌ عَصِیبࣱ ۝٧٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

Our messengers [angels] came to Lot. He was grieved because of them and felt anxiety over them. He said, “This is a dreadful day.”

walammā jāat rusulunā lūṭan sīa bihim waḍāqa bihim dharʿan waqāla hādhā yawmun ʿaṣību

11:78

وَجَاۤءَهُۥ قَوۡمُهُۥ یُهۡرَعُونَ إِلَیۡهِ وَمِن قَبۡلُ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلسَّیِّءَاتِۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ بَنَاتِی هُنَّ أَطۡهَرُ لَكُمۡۖ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِ فِی ضَیۡفِیۤۖ أَلَیۡسَ مِنكُمۡ رَجُلࣱ رَّشِیدࣱ ۝٧٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

(Lot’s) people mobbed towards him [and expressed an interest in his guests]. They had long been in the habit of practicing perversions. He said, “O my people, here are my daughters. They are decent for you [to have in marriage]. Now fear Allah, and do not make me ashamed in front of my guests. Is there not among you a single man with moral character?”

wajāahu qawmuhu yuh'raʿūna ilayhi wamin qablu kānū yaʿmalūna l-sayiāti qāla yāqawmi hāulāi banātī hunna aṭharu lakum fa-ittaqū l-laha walā tukh'zūni fī ḍayfī alaysa minkum rajulun rashīdu

11:79

قَالُوا۟ لَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتَ مَا لَنَا فِی بَنَاتِكَ مِنۡ حَقࣲّ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَعۡلَمُ مَا نُرِیدُ ۝٧٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

They replied, “You know full well that we have no desire for your daughters. You know perfectly what we want.”

qālū laqad ʿalim'ta mā lanā fī banātika min ḥaqqin wa-innaka lataʿlamu mā nurīd

11:80

قَالَ لَوۡ أَنَّ لِی بِكُمۡ قُوَّةً أَوۡ ءَاوِیۤ إِلَىٰ رُكۡنࣲ شَدِیدࣲ ۝٨٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

He said, “I would overpower you if I could, or I would take refuge with a strong ally.”

qāla law anna lī bikum quwwatan aw āwī ilā ruk'nin shadīdi

11:81

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰلُوطُ إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَن یَصِلُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡكَۖ فَأَسۡرِ بِأَهۡلِكَ بِقِطۡعࣲ مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَلَا یَلۡتَفِتۡ مِنكُمۡ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَكَۖ إِنَّهُۥ مُصِیبُهَا مَاۤ أَصَابَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ مَوۡعِدَهُمُ ٱلصُّبۡحُۚ أَلَیۡسَ ٱلصُّبۡحُ بِقَرِیبࣲ ۝٨١

Linda "iLham" Barto

(The angels) said, “O Lot, we are messengers from your Lord. By no means will (the evil men) get to you. Now travel with your family while a part of the night still remains, and do not let anyone look back. But your wife will, and she will suffer the fate of the people. Morning is their appointed time. Is the morning not very near?”

qālū yālūṭu innā rusulu rabbika lan yaṣilū ilayka fa-asri bi-ahlika biqiṭ'ʿin mina al-layli walā yaltafit minkum aḥadun illā im'ra-ataka innahu muṣībuhā mā aṣābahum inna mawʿidahumu l-ṣub'ḥu alaysa l-ṣub'ḥu biqarībi

11:82

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُنَا جَعَلۡنَا عَـٰلِیَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهَا حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن سِجِّیلࣲ مَّنضُودࣲ ۝٨٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

When Our command went forth, We toppled (the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah). We showered them with brimstones as hard as baked clay, layer upon layer.

falammā jāa amrunā jaʿalnā ʿāliyahā sāfilahā wa-amṭarnā ʿalayhā ḥijāratan min sijjīlin manḍūdi

11:83

مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَۖ وَمَا هِیَ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ بِبَعِیدࣲ ۝٨٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

[The shower of brimstones] became the mark of your Lord [for sinful cities]. (That calamity) is never far from the sinners.

musawwamatan ʿinda rabbika wamā hiya mina l-ẓālimīna bibaʿīdi

11:84

۞ وَإِلَىٰ مَدۡیَنَ أَخَاهُمۡ شُعَیۡبࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۖ وَلَا تَنقُصُوا۟ ٱلۡمِكۡیَالَ وَٱلۡمِیزَانَۖ إِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰكُم بِخَیۡرࣲ وَإِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمࣲ مُّحِیطࣲ ۝٨٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

To the Midian people, We sent Jethro, one of their own people. He said, “O my people, worship Allah. You have no god except Him. Do not slight in measure or weight. I see you in prosperity, but I fear for you the penalty of a day that will overwhelm you.

wa-ilā madyana akhāhum shuʿayban qāla yāqawmi uʿ'budū l-laha mā lakum min ilāhin ghayruhu walā tanquṣū l-mik'yāla wal-mīzāna innī arākum bikhayrin wa-innī akhāfu ʿalaykum ʿadhāba yawmin muḥīṭi

11:85

وَیَـٰقَوۡمِ أَوۡفُوا۟ ٱلۡمِكۡیَالَ وَٱلۡمِیزَانَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِۖ وَلَا تَبۡخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشۡیَاۤءَهُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٨٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

“O my people, give correct measure and weight, and do not withhold from people what they are due. Do not sin in the land with intent to do evil.

wayāqawmi awfū l-mik'yāla wal-mīzāna bil-qis'ṭi walā tabkhasū l-nāsa ashyāahum walā taʿthaw fī l-arḍi muf'sidīn

11:86

بَقِیَّتُ ٱللَّهِ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَۚ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ عَلَیۡكُم بِحَفِیظࣲ ۝٨٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

“That which is left for you by Allah is best for you. If only you believed! I am not assigned to keep watch over you, however.”

baqiyyatu l-lahi khayrun lakum in kuntum mu'minīna wamā anā ʿalaykum biḥafīẓi

11:87

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰشُعَیۡبُ أَصَلَوٰتُكَ تَأۡمُرُكَ أَن نَّتۡرُكَ مَا یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُنَاۤ أَوۡ أَن نَّفۡعَلَ فِیۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلِنَا مَا نَشَـٰۤؤُا۟ۖ إِنَّكَ لَأَنتَ ٱلۡحَلِیمُ ٱلرَّشِیدُ ۝٨٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

(The Midian people) said, “O Jethro, does your religion tell you that we must abandon the religion of our fathers or that we abandon what we will with our own property? For sure, you are the one tolerant of faults and rightly guided!”

qālū yāshuʿaybu aṣalatuka tamuruka an natruka mā yaʿbudu ābāunā aw an nafʿala fī amwālinā mā nashāu innaka la-anta l-ḥalīmu l-rashīd

11:88

قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ أَرَءَیۡتُمۡ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَیِّنَةࣲ مِّن رَّبِّی وَرَزَقَنِی مِنۡهُ رِزۡقًا حَسَنࣰاۚ وَمَاۤ أُرِیدُ أَنۡ أُخَالِفَكُمۡ إِلَىٰ مَاۤ أَنۡهَىٰكُمۡ عَنۡهُۚ إِنۡ أُرِیدُ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِصۡلَـٰحَ مَا ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُۚ وَمَا تَوۡفِیقِیۤ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِۚ عَلَیۡهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُ وَإِلَیۡهِ أُنِیبُ ۝٨٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

He answered, “O my people, see if I have evidence from my Lord, and He has provided me with ample sustenance as from Himself. I do not wish to oppose you, doing that which I forbid you to do. I only want to improve you to the best of my power, and my success can come only from Allah. In Him I trust, and to Him I turn.”

qāla yāqawmi ara-aytum in kuntu ʿalā bayyinatin min rabbī warazaqanī min'hu riz'qan ḥasanan wamā urīdu an ukhālifakum ilā mā anhākum ʿanhu in urīdu illā l-iṣ'lāḥa mā is'taṭaʿtu wamā tawfīqī illā bil-lahi ʿalayhi tawakkaltu wa-ilayhi unīb

11:89

وَیَـٰقَوۡمِ لَا یَجۡرِمَنَّكُمۡ شِقَاقِیۤ أَن یُصِیبَكُم مِّثۡلُ مَاۤ أَصَابَ قَوۡمَ نُوحٍ أَوۡ قَوۡمَ هُودٍ أَوۡ قَوۡمَ صَـٰلِحࣲۚ وَمَا قَوۡمُ لُوطࣲ مِّنكُم بِبَعِیدࣲ ۝٨٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

[Prophet Jethro said,] “O my people, just because I alienate myself from you [because of your lifestyle], do not let that cause you to sin. [You could] then suffer a fate similar to that of the people of Noah or of Heber or of Salih. You are not far removed from the people of Lot [of the infamous cities of Sodom and Gomorrah].

wayāqawmi lā yajrimannakum shiqāqī an yuṣībakum mith'lu mā aṣāba qawma nūḥin aw qawma hūdin aw qawma ṣāliḥin wamā qawmu lūṭin minkum bibaʿīdi

11:90

وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ تُوبُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِۚ إِنَّ رَبِّی رَحِیمࣱ وَدُودࣱ ۝٩٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

“Ask forgiveness of your Lord, turning to Him in repentance. My Lord is indeed flowing with mercy and loving kindness.”

wa-is'taghfirū rabbakum thumma tūbū ilayhi inna rabbī raḥīmun wadūdu

11:91

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰشُعَیۡبُ مَا نَفۡقَهُ كَثِیرࣰا مِّمَّا تَقُولُ وَإِنَّا لَنَرَىٰكَ فِینَا ضَعِیفࣰاۖ وَلَوۡلَا رَهۡطُكَ لَرَجَمۡنَـٰكَۖ وَمَاۤ أَنتَ عَلَیۡنَا بِعَزِیزࣲ ۝٩١

Linda "iLham" Barto

(The Midian people) said, “O Jethro, we do not understand most of what you are saying. In fact, nobody here sees that you have any strengths! If it were not for your [prestigious] family, we would already have stoned you. Among us, you have no honorable position.”

qālū yāshuʿaybu mā nafqahu kathīran mimmā taqūlu wa-innā lanarāka fīnā ḍaʿīfan walawlā rahṭuka larajamnāka wamā anta ʿalaynā biʿazīzi

11:92

قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ أَرَهۡطِیۤ أَعَزُّ عَلَیۡكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱتَّخَذۡتُمُوهُ وَرَاۤءَكُمۡ ظِهۡرِیًّاۖ إِنَّ رَبِّی بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ مُحِیطࣱ ۝٩٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

He responded, “O my people, is my family of more concern to you than Allah? You cast Him aside, behind your backs, but, truly, my Lord surrounds all that you do.

qāla yāqawmi arahṭī aʿazzu ʿalaykum mina l-lahi wa-ittakhadhtumūhu warāakum ẓih'riyyan inna rabbī bimā taʿmalūna muḥīṭu

11:93

وَیَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡمَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمۡ إِنِّی عَـٰمِلࣱۖ سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ مَن یَأۡتِیهِ عَذَابࣱ یُخۡزِیهِ وَمَنۡ هُوَ كَـٰذِبࣱۖ وَٱرۡتَقِبُوۤا۟ إِنِّی مَعَكُمۡ رَقِیبࣱ ۝٩٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

“O my people, do whatever you can, and I also. Soon you will know on whom descends the penalty of shame and who is a liar. Watch, and I too am watching with you.”

wayāqawmi iʿ'malū ʿalā makānatikum innī ʿāmilun sawfa taʿlamūna man yatīhi ʿadhābun yukh'zīhi waman huwa kādhibun wa-ir'taqibū innī maʿakum raqību

11:94

وَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُنَا نَجَّیۡنَا شُعَیۡبࣰا وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحۡمَةࣲ مِّنَّا وَأَخَذَتِ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ فَأَصۡبَحُوا۟ فِی دِیَـٰرِهِمۡ جَـٰثِمِینَ ۝٩٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

When Our command went forth, We saved Jethro and those believers with him, by Our grace. The mighty blast, however, seized the sinners, and they lay flattened in their homes.

walammā jāa amrunā najjaynā shuʿayban wa-alladhīna āmanū maʿahu biraḥmatin minnā wa-akhadhati alladhīna ẓalamū l-ṣayḥatu fa-aṣbaḥū fī diyārihim jāthimīn

11:95

كَأَن لَّمۡ یَغۡنَوۡا۟ فِیهَاۤۗ أَلَا بُعۡدࣰا لِّمَدۡیَنَ كَمَا بَعِدَتۡ ثَمُودُ ۝٩٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

It was as if they had never lived there. Away with the Midian, as with the Thamud!

ka-an lam yaghnaw fīhā alā buʿ'dan limadyana kamā baʿidat thamūd

11:96

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٩٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Certainly, We sent Moses Our signs and obvious authority…

walaqad arsalnā mūsā biāyātinā wasul'ṭānin mubīni

11:97

إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِۦ فَٱتَّبَعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَ فِرۡعَوۡنَۖ وَمَاۤ أَمۡرُ فِرۡعَوۡنَ بِرَشِیدࣲ ۝٩٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

…to Pharaoh and his chiefs. They followed the command of Pharaoh, however, and the command of Pharaoh was not right.

ilā fir'ʿawna wamala-ihi fa-ittabaʿū amra fir'ʿawna wamā amru fir'ʿawna birashīdi

11:98

یَقۡدُمُ قَوۡمَهُۥ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فَأَوۡرَدَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡوِرۡدُ ٱلۡمَوۡرُودُ ۝٩٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

On the Day of Judgment, (Pharaoh) will go before his people and lead them into the fire. Wretched will be the place to which they are led!

yaqdumu qawmahu yawma l-qiyāmati fa-awradahumu l-nāra wabi'sa l-wir'du l-mawrūd

11:99

وَأُتۡبِعُوا۟ فِی هَـٰذِهِۦ لَعۡنَةࣰ وَیَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۚ بِئۡسَ ٱلرِّفۡدُ ٱلۡمَرۡفُودُ ۝٩٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

They are followed by condemnation in this life and on the Day of Resurrection. Wretched is the gift they will be given!

wa-ut'biʿū fī hādhihi laʿnatan wayawma l-qiyāmati bi'sa l-rif'du l-marfūd

11:100

ذَ ٰلِكَ مِنۡ أَنۢبَاۤءِ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ نَقُصُّهُۥ عَلَیۡكَۖ مِنۡهَا قَاۤىِٕمࣱ وَحَصِیدࣱ ۝١٠٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

These are some of the stories of communities about which we are telling you. Some of them are still standing, and some have been demolished.

dhālika min anbāi l-qurā naquṣṣuhu ʿalayka min'hā qāimun waḥaṣīdu

11:101

وَمَا ظَلَمۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَلَـٰكِن ظَلَمُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡۖ فَمَاۤ أَغۡنَتۡ عَنۡهُمۡ ءَالِهَتُهُمُ ٱلَّتِی یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَیۡءࣲ لَّمَّا جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُ رَبِّكَۖ وَمَا زَادُوهُمۡ غَیۡرَ تَتۡبِیبࣲ ۝١٠١

Linda "iLham" Barto

We did not wrong them. They wronged themselves. Their gods, to whom they prayed instead of Allah, did not help them any from the Lord’s given command. They added nothing but loss.

wamā ẓalamnāhum walākin ẓalamū anfusahum famā aghnat ʿanhum ālihatuhumu allatī yadʿūna min dūni l-lahi min shayin lammā jāa amru rabbika wamā zādūhum ghayra tatbībi

11:102

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ أَخۡذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَاۤ أَخَذَ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ وَهِیَ ظَـٰلِمَةٌۚ إِنَّ أَخۡذَهُۥۤ أَلِیمࣱ شَدِیدٌ ۝١٠٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Such is the discipline of your Lord when He rebukes communities in the midst of their sin. His discipline is indeed horrible and severe.

wakadhālika akhdhu rabbika idhā akhadha l-qurā wahiya ẓālimatun inna akhdhahu alīmun shadīdu

11:103

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّمَنۡ خَافَ عَذَابَ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ یَوۡمࣱ مَّجۡمُوعࣱ لَّهُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَذَ ٰلِكَ یَوۡمࣱ مَّشۡهُودࣱ ۝١٠٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

In that is truly a sign for those who fear the penalty of the hereafter. That is a day for which humanity will be assembled. That will be a day of testimony.

inna fī dhālika laāyatan liman khāfa ʿadhāba l-ākhirati dhālika yawmun majmūʿun lahu l-nāsu wadhālika yawmun mashhūdu

11:104

وَمَا نُؤَخِّرُهُۥۤ إِلَّا لِأَجَلࣲ مَّعۡدُودࣲ ۝١٠٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

We will not delay it except for the time appointed.

wamā nu-akhiruhu illā li-ajalin maʿdūdi

11:105

یَوۡمَ یَأۡتِ لَا تَكَلَّمُ نَفۡسٌ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِهِۦۚ فَمِنۡهُمۡ شَقِیࣱّ وَسَعِیدࣱ ۝١٠٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

The day that (the Day of Resurrection) comes, no soul shall speak except by His will. Of those [assembled], some will be condemned, and some will be blessed.

yawma yati lā takallamu nafsun illā bi-idh'nihi famin'hum shaqiyyun wasaʿīdu

11:106

فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ شَقُوا۟ فَفِی ٱلنَّارِ لَهُمۡ فِیهَا زَفِیرࣱ وَشَهِیقٌ ۝١٠٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Those who are condemned will be cast into the fire. There will be the heaving of sighs and wails.

fa-ammā alladhīna shaqū fafī l-nāri lahum fīhā zafīrun washahīqu

11:107

خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَا مَا دَامَتِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ إِلَّا مَا شَاۤءَ رَبُّكَۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ فَعَّالࣱ لِّمَا یُرِیدُ ۝١٠٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

They will dwell there for as long as the skies and Earth endure, except as Allah wills. He does as He intends.

khālidīna fīhā mā dāmati l-samāwātu wal-arḍu illā mā shāa rabbuka inna rabbaka faʿʿālun limā yurīd

11:108

۞ وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ سُعِدُوا۟ فَفِی ٱلۡجَنَّةِ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَا مَا دَامَتِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ إِلَّا مَا شَاۤءَ رَبُّكَۖ عَطَاۤءً غَیۡرَ مَجۡذُوذࣲ ۝١٠٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

Those who are blessed will be in Paradise. They will dwell there for as long as the skies and Earth endure, except as Allah wills. It is a gift without end.

wa-ammā alladhīna suʿidū fafī l-janati khālidīna fīhā mā dāmati l-samāwātu wal-arḍu illā mā shāa rabbuka ʿaṭāan ghayra majdhūdhi

11:109

فَلَا تَكُ فِی مِرۡیَةࣲ مِّمَّا یَعۡبُدُ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِۚ مَا یَعۡبُدُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُهُم مِّن قَبۡلُۚ وَإِنَّا لَمُوَفُّوهُمۡ نَصِیبَهُمۡ غَیۡرَ مَنقُوصࣲ ۝١٠٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

Do not be in doubt about what these people worship. They worship nothing except what their fathers worshiped before them. Truly, We will pay them their due without any deductions.

falā taku fī mir'yatin mimmā yaʿbudu hāulāi mā yaʿbudūna illā kamā yaʿbudu ābāuhum min qablu wa-innā lamuwaffūhum naṣībahum ghayra manqūṣi

11:110

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ فَٱخۡتُلِفَ فِیهِۚ وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةࣱ سَبَقَتۡ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِیَ بَیۡنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَفِی شَكࣲّ مِّنۡهُ مُرِیبࣲ ۝١١٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

We certainly gave Moses the Book [of the Torah], but differences arose in it. If it had not been for a Word going forth from your Lord, the matter would have been settled among them. (The various Jewish and Christian sects) are in suspicious doubt about it.

walaqad ātaynā mūsā l-kitāba fa-ukh'tulifa fīhi walawlā kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika laquḍiya baynahum wa-innahum lafī shakkin min'hu murībi

11:111

وَإِنَّ كُلࣰّا لَّمَّا لَیُوَفِّیَنَّهُمۡ رَبُّكَ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِمَا یَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِیرࣱ ۝١١١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Certainly, your Lord will repay them for their deeds. Truly, He is Fully Aware of what they do.

wa-inna kullan lammā layuwaffiyannahum rabbuka aʿmālahum innahu bimā yaʿmalūna khabīru

11:112

فَٱسۡتَقِمۡ كَمَاۤ أُمِرۡتَ وَمَن تَابَ مَعَكَ وَلَا تَطۡغَوۡا۟ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ بَصِیرࣱ ۝١١٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

You and those with you should stand firmly as you are commanded. Repent and do not sin. He is All-seeing of all that you do.

fa-is'taqim kamā umir'ta waman tāba maʿaka walā taṭghaw innahu bimā taʿmalūna baṣīru

11:113

وَلَا تَرۡكَنُوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ فَتَمَسَّكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِنۡ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ ۝١١٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

Do not tend toward those who sin, or the fire will seize you. You have no protectors other than Allah, and you won’t be helped.

walā tarkanū ilā alladhīna ẓalamū fatamassakumu l-nāru wamā lakum min dūni l-lahi min awliyāa thumma lā tunṣarūn

11:114

وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ طَرَفَیِ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَزُلَفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِۚ إِنَّ ٱلۡحَسَنَـٰتِ یُذۡهِبۡنَ ٱلسَّیِّءَاتِۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ ذِكۡرَىٰ لِلذَّ ٰكِرِینَ ۝١١٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

Establish ritual prayers at both ends of the day and at the approach of night. Truly, good deeds repel evil deeds. Let that be a reminder for those who remember.

wa-aqimi l-ṣalata ṭarafayi l-nahāri wazulafan mina al-layli inna l-ḥasanāti yudh'hib'na l-sayiāti dhālika dhik'rā lildhākirīn

11:115

وَٱصۡبِرۡ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یُضِیعُ أَجۡرَ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١١٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Be patient. Truly, Allah will not allow the reward of the righteous to perish.

wa-iṣ'bir fa-inna l-laha lā yuḍīʿu ajra l-muḥ'sinīn

11:116

فَلَوۡلَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ أُو۟لُوا۟ بَقِیَّةࣲ یَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡفَسَادِ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا قَلِیلࣰا مِّمَّنۡ أَنجَیۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡۗ وَٱتَّبَعَ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مَاۤ أُتۡرِفُوا۟ فِیهِ وَكَانُوا۟ مُجۡرِمِینَ ۝١١٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

Why were there, among generations before you, no people with enough common sense to prohibit evil upon the earth, except for those few people We saved? The sinners pursued the enjoyment of the good things of life, which were given to them, and persisted in sin.

falawlā kāna mina l-qurūni min qablikum ulū baqiyyatin yanhawna ʿani l-fasādi fī l-arḍi illā qalīlan mimman anjaynā min'hum wa-ittabaʿa alladhīna ẓalamū mā ut'rifū fīhi wakānū muj'rimīn

11:117

وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ لِیُهۡلِكَ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ بِظُلۡمࣲ وَأَهۡلُهَا مُصۡلِحُونَ ۝١١٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

Your Lord would never destroy a community for a single sin if its members were likely to mend.

wamā kāna rabbuka liyuh'lika l-qurā biẓul'min wa-ahluhā muṣ'liḥūn

11:118

وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ رَبُّكَ لَجَعَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰۖ وَلَا یَزَالُونَ مُخۡتَلِفِینَ ۝١١٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

If your Lord had so willed, He could have made humanity one people, but they will never cease to argue.

walaw shāa rabbuka lajaʿala l-nāsa ummatan wāḥidatan walā yazālūna mukh'talifīn

11:119

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ رَبُّكَۚ وَلِذَ ٰلِكَ خَلَقَهُمۡۗ وَتَمَّتۡ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَأَمۡلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١١٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

The exceptions are those on whom your Lord has bestowed His mercy, and for this reason He created them. The Word of your Lord will be fulfilled: “I will fill Hell with evil spirit-beings and people –all together.”

illā man raḥima rabbuka walidhālika khalaqahum watammat kalimatu rabbika la-amla-anna jahannama mina l-jinati wal-nāsi ajmaʿīn

11:120

وَكُلࣰّا نَّقُصُّ عَلَیۡكَ مِنۡ أَنۢبَاۤءِ ٱلرُّسُلِ مَا نُثَبِّتُ بِهِۦ فُؤَادَكَۚ وَجَاۤءَكَ فِی هَـٰذِهِ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَمَوۡعِظَةࣱ وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٢٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

With all that We relate to you from the stories of the messengers, We strengthen your heart. In them comes to you truth, advice, and a message to remember by those who believe.

wakullan naquṣṣu ʿalayka min anbāi l-rusuli mā nuthabbitu bihi fuādaka wajāaka fī hādhihi l-ḥaqu wamawʿiẓatun wadhik'rā lil'mu'minīn

11:121

وَقُل لِّلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ٱعۡمَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمۡ إِنَّا عَـٰمِلُونَ ۝١٢١

Linda "iLham" Barto

Say to the unbelievers, “Go ahead and do as you will; we will do our mission.

waqul lilladhīna lā yu'minūna iʿ'malū ʿalā makānatikum innā ʿāmilūn

11:122

وَٱنتَظِرُوۤا۟ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ ۝١٢٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

Just wait! We too will wait [to see God’s plan unfold].”

wa-intaẓirū innā muntaẓirūn

11:123

وَلِلَّهِ غَیۡبُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِلَیۡهِ یُرۡجَعُ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ كُلُّهُۥ فَٱعۡبُدۡهُ وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَیۡهِۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٢٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

To Allah belongs the unseen of the skies and Earth. To Him everything returns. Worship Him, and put your trust in Him. Your Lord is not unaware of all that you do.

walillahi ghaybu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wa-ilayhi yur'jaʿu l-amru kulluhu fa-uʿ'bud'hu watawakkal ʿalayhi wamā rabbuka bighāfilin ʿammā taʿmalūn
