1 Success of the Faithful
23:1 ›
۞ قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١
Amatul Rahman Omar
Truly, success in this life and in the Hereafter does come to the believers
qad aflaḥa l-mu'minūn
23:2 ›
ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ فِی صَلَاتِهِمۡ خَـٰشِعُونَ ۝٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
Who turn (to God) in all humility in their Prayer
alladhīna hum fī ṣalātihim khāshiʿūn
23:3 ›
وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ عَنِ ٱللَّغۡوِ مُعۡرِضُونَ ۝٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
And who keep aloof from all that is vain and idle
wa-alladhīna hum ʿani l-laghwi muʿ'riḍūn
23:4 ›
وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَـٰعِلُونَ ۝٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
And who act conscientiously for the sake of purity (and regularly present the Zakat)
wa-alladhīna hum lilzzakati fāʿilūn
23:5 ›
وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ لِفُرُوجِهِمۡ حَـٰفِظُونَ ۝٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
And who guard their private parts
wa-alladhīna hum lifurūjihim ḥāfiẓūn
23:6 ›
إِلَّا عَلَىٰۤ أَزۡوَ ٰجِهِمۡ أَوۡ مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَیۡمَـٰنُهُمۡ فَإِنَّهُمۡ غَیۡرُ مَلُومِینَ ۝٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Except from their spouses, that is those whom they justly and rightfully own in proper wedlock, in that case they are not to be blamed
illā ʿalā azwājihim aw mā malakat aymānuhum fa-innahum ghayru malūmīn
23:7 ›
فَمَنِ ٱبۡتَغَىٰ وَرَاۤءَ ذَ ٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡعَادُونَ ۝٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
But those who seek anything else (to satisfy their sexual desire) beyond this, it is they who are the transgressors
famani ib'taghā warāa dhālika fa-ulāika humu l-ʿādūn
23:8 ›
وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمۡ وَعَهۡدِهِمۡ رَ ٰعُونَ ۝٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
And who look after their trusts and their covenants
wa-alladhīna hum li-amānātihim waʿahdihim rāʿūn
23:9 ›
وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَ ٰتِهِمۡ یُحَافِظُونَ ۝٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
And who are strict in the observance of their Prayers
wa-alladhīna hum ʿalā ṣalawātihim yuḥāfiẓūn
23:10 ›
أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡوَ ٰرِثُونَ ۝١٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
It is they who are the real heirs
ulāika humu l-wārithūn
23:11 ›
ٱلَّذِینَ یَرِثُونَ ٱلۡفِرۡدَوۡسَ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝١١
Amatul Rahman Omar
Who will own Paradise where they shall abide for ever
alladhīna yarithūna l-fir'dawsa hum fīhā khālidūn
23:12 ›
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن سُلَـٰلَةࣲ مِّن طِینࣲ ۝١٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
We create a human being from an extract of clay
walaqad khalaqnā l-insāna min sulālatin min ṭīni
23:13 ›
ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَـٰهُ نُطۡفَةࣰ فِی قَرَارࣲ مَّكِینࣲ ۝١٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then We reduce him to a drop of sperm (and place him) in a safe depository
thumma jaʿalnāhu nuṭ'fatan fī qarārin makīni
23:14 ›
ثُمَّ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلنُّطۡفَةَ عَلَقَةࣰ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡعَلَقَةَ مُضۡغَةࣰ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمُضۡغَةَ عِظَـٰمࣰا فَكَسَوۡنَا ٱلۡعِظَـٰمَ لَحۡمࣰا ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَـٰهُ خَلۡقًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقِینَ ۝١٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then We form the sperm into a clot; then We develop the clot into a lump of flesh; then We fashion bones out of this lump of flesh, then We clothe the bones with flesh, thereafter We evolve him into another being. Therefore blessed be Allah the Best of Creators
thumma khalaqnā l-nuṭ'fata ʿalaqatan fakhalaqnā l-ʿalaqata muḍ'ghatan fakhalaqnā l-muḍ'ghata ʿiẓāman fakasawnā l-ʿiẓāma laḥman thumma anshanāhu khalqan ākhara fatabāraka l-lahu aḥsanu l-khāliqīn
23:15 ›
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰلِكَ لَمَیِّتُونَ ۝١٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then as you have passed (these seven stages of physical creation parallel to the above seven spiritual stages) you are heading towards death
thumma innakum baʿda dhālika lamayyitūn
23:16 ›
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ تُبۡعَثُونَ ۝١٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then (after death), you will certainly be raised up to life on the Day of Resurrection
thumma innakum yawma l-qiyāmati tub'ʿathūn
23:17 ›
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعَ طَرَاۤىِٕقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ ٱلۡخَلۡقِ غَـٰفِلِینَ ۝١٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We have created above you seven ways, and We have never been neglectful of (the needs of) the creation
walaqad khalaqnā fawqakum sabʿa ṭarāiqa wamā kunnā ʿani l-khalqi ghāfilīn
23:18 ›
وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءَۢ بِقَدَرࣲ فَأَسۡكَنَّـٰهُ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابِۭ بِهِۦ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ ۝١٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We send down water out of the cloud according to (a certain) measure and We lodge it in the earth (as long as it is required), and remember, surely it is We who determine its taking away (through the process of evaporation and many more)
wa-anzalnā mina l-samāi māan biqadarin fa-askannāhu fī l-arḍi wa-innā ʿalā dhahābin bihi laqādirūn
23:19 ›
فَأَنشَأۡنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتࣲ مِّن نَّخِیلࣲ وَأَعۡنَـٰبࣲ لَّكُمۡ فِیهَا فَوَ ٰكِهُ كَثِیرَةࣱ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ۝١٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
And then with it ( - the water) We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines and you have plenty of fruit in these (gardens) and of these (fruit) you eat
fa-anshanā lakum bihi jannātin min nakhīlin wa-aʿnābin lakum fīhā fawākihu kathīratun wamin'hā takulūn
23:20 ›
وَشَجَرَةࣰ تَخۡرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَیۡنَاۤءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِٱلدُّهۡنِ وَصِبۡغࣲ لِّلۡءَاكِلِینَ ۝٢٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
And (with the water We produce) a tree which grows on Mount Sinai (- olive tree) which bears (in it) oil and (supplies) a condiment (also) for those who use it for food
washajaratan takhruju min ṭūri saynāa tanbutu bil-duh'ni waṣib'ghin lil'ākilīn
23:21 ›
وَإِنَّ لَكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ لَعِبۡرَةࣰۖ نُّسۡقِیكُم مِّمَّا فِی بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمۡ فِیهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ كَثِیرَةࣱ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٢١
Amatul Rahman Omar
And you have an evidence in (the creation of) the cattle (too), which should lead you from ignorance to knowledge, We give you to drink of that (milk) which is in their bellies. You derive many other benefits from them and you (also) get food from some of them
wa-inna lakum fī l-anʿāmi laʿib'ratan nus'qīkum mimmā fī buṭūnihā walakum fīhā manāfiʿu kathīratun wamin'hā takulūn
23:22 ›
وَعَلَیۡهَا وَعَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ تُحۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
You are borne on them as well as on the ships
waʿalayhā waʿalā l-ful'ki tuḥ'malūn
2 Noah
23:23 ›
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ فَقَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٢٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We sent Noah to his people and he said, `O my people! worship Allah alone. You have no God other than He. Will you not then guard against evil and seek (His) protection?
walaqad arsalnā nūḥan ilā qawmihi faqāla yāqawmi uʿ'budū l-laha mā lakum min ilāhin ghayruhu afalā tattaqūn
23:24 ›
فَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ یُرِیدُ أَن یَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةࣰ مَّا سَمِعۡنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِیۤ ءَابَاۤىِٕنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٢٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
But the chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said, `He is nothing but a human being like yourselves, (only) he seeks to assert (his) superiority over you. And if Allah had so willed He could have certainly sent down angels (with him). We have never heard of this (sort of a thing) happen in the times of our fathers of yore
faqāla l-mala-u alladhīna kafarū min qawmihi mā hādhā illā basharun mith'lukum yurīdu an yatafaḍḍala ʿalaykum walaw shāa l-lahu la-anzala malāikatan mā samiʿ'nā bihādhā fī ābāinā l-awalīn
23:25 ›
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلُۢ بِهِۦ جِنَّةࣱ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ حِینࣲ ۝٢٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
`He is but a man gone mad, you had better bear with him for a while (and see the consequences).
in huwa illā rajulun bihi jinnatun fatarabbaṣū bihi ḥattā ḥīni
23:26 ›
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِی بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ ۝٢٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Noah) said (praying), `My Lord! help me for they treat me as a liar.
qāla rabbi unṣur'nī bimā kadhabūn
23:27 ›
فَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ أَنِ ٱصۡنَعِ ٱلۡفُلۡكَ بِأَعۡیُنِنَا وَوَحۡیِنَا فَإِذَا جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُنَا وَفَارَ ٱلتَّنُّورُ فَٱسۡلُكۡ فِیهَا مِن كُلࣲّ زَوۡجَیۡنِ ٱثۡنَیۡنِ وَأَهۡلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَلَا تُخَـٰطِبۡنِی فِی ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوۤا۟ إِنَّهُم مُّغۡرَقُونَ ۝٢٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then We sent Our revelation to him (directing him), `Make the Ark under Our eyes and (according to the dictates of) Our revelation. And when (the time of) Our judgment comes and the waters of the valley gush forth, then embark there in (the Ark) two of every species, a pair (of every thing that you may need), and your companions, except those of them against whom (Our) word (of condemnation for their misdeeds) has already gone forth. But do not plead with Me in favour of those who have acted unjustly for they are (doomed) to be drowned
fa-awḥaynā ilayhi ani iṣ'naʿi l-ful'ka bi-aʿyuninā wawaḥyinā fa-idhā jāa amrunā wafāra l-tanūru fa-us'luk fīhā min kullin zawjayni ith'nayni wa-ahlaka illā man sabaqa ʿalayhi l-qawlu min'hum walā tukhāṭib'nī fī alladhīna ẓalamū innahum mugh'raqūn
23:28 ›
فَإِذَا ٱسۡتَوَیۡتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ فَقُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِی نَجَّىٰنَا مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٢٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Then when you and your companions are seated perfectly well in the Ark say (praying), "All true and perfect praise belongs to Allah Who has delivered us from the wicked people."
fa-idhā is'tawayta anta waman maʿaka ʿalā l-ful'ki faquli l-ḥamdu lillahi alladhī najjānā mina l-qawmi l-ẓālimīn
23:29 ›
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلۡنِی مُنزَلࣰا مُّبَارَكࣰا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡمُنزِلِینَ ۝٢٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
`And say (while praying), "My Lord! enable me to make a blessed landing, for You are the Best of those who provide (people) with the fairest landing place".
waqul rabbi anzil'nī munzalan mubārakan wa-anta khayru l-munzilīn
23:30 ›
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبۡتَلِینَ ۝٣٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
Verily, this (account of Noah) is full of (many) signs. Surely, thus do We reveal the hidden truth (about the people and We did try the people of Noah)
inna fī dhālika laāyātin wa-in kunnā lamub'talīn
23:31 ›
ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قَرۡنًا ءَاخَرِینَ ۝٣١
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then We raised another generation after them
thumma anshanā min baʿdihim qarnan ākharīn
23:32 ›
فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا فِیهِمۡ رَسُولࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٣٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We sent to them a Messenger from among themselves, (who said,) `Worship Allah. You have no god other than He. Will you not then guard against evil (deeds)?
fa-arsalnā fīhim rasūlan min'hum ani uʿ'budū l-laha mā lakum min ilāhin ghayruhu afalā tattaqūn
3 Prophets after Noah
23:33 ›
وَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِهِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَاۤءِ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ وَأَتۡرَفۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا مَا هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ یَأۡكُلُ مِمَّا تَأۡكُلُونَ مِنۡهُ وَیَشۡرَبُ مِمَّا تَشۡرَبُونَ ۝٣٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and cried lies to the meeting (with the Lord) in the Hereafter, and whom We had given ease and comfort in the present life, said, `He is but a human being like yourselves. He eats of (the food) which you eat and drinks of (the drinks) which you drink
waqāla l-mala-u min qawmihi alladhīna kafarū wakadhabū biliqāi l-ākhirati wa-atrafnāhum fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā mā hādhā illā basharun mith'lukum yakulu mimmā takulūna min'hu wayashrabu mimmā tashrabūn
23:34 ›
وَلَىِٕنۡ أَطَعۡتُم بَشَرࣰا مِّثۡلَكُمۡ إِنَّكُمۡ إِذࣰا لَّخَـٰسِرُونَ ۝٣٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
`And, surely, if you obey a human being like yourselves you will then be the losers indeed
wala-in aṭaʿtum basharan mith'lakum innakum idhan lakhāsirūn
23:35 ›
أَیَعِدُكُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ إِذَا مِتُّمۡ وَكُنتُمۡ تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَنَّكُم مُّخۡرَجُونَ ۝٣٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Does he promise you that when you are dead and reduced to dust and bones you shall be brought forth (alive again from the graves
ayaʿidukum annakum idhā mittum wakuntum turāban waʿiẓāman annakum mukh'rajūn
23:36 ›
۞ هَیۡهَاتَ هَیۡهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ ۝٣٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
`How very far and away (from truth and understanding) is that which you are promised
hayhāta hayhāta limā tūʿadūn
23:37 ›
إِنۡ هِیَ إِلَّا حَیَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡیَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحۡیَا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَبۡعُوثِینَ ۝٣٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
`There is no life beyond our present life. (It is here) we die and (here) we live, and we shall not at all be raised up (to life again, so that there awaits us no Resurrection)
in hiya illā ḥayātunā l-dun'yā namūtu wanaḥyā wamā naḥnu bimabʿūthīn
23:38 ›
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبࣰا وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٣٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
`He is only an ordinary man who has forged a lie in the name of Allah and we are not at all going to believe in him.
in huwa illā rajulun if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban wamā naḥnu lahu bimu'minīn
23:39 ›
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِی بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ ۝٣٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
He said (praying), `My Lord! help me for they treat me as a liar.
qāla rabbi unṣur'nī bimā kadhabūn
23:40 ›
قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِیلࣲ لَّیُصۡبِحُنَّ نَـٰدِمِینَ ۝٤٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
(The Lord) said, `They shall be remorseful before long (when caught by some punishment).
qāla ʿammā qalīlin layuṣ'biḥunna nādimīn
23:41 ›
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ غُثَاۤءࣰۚ فَبُعۡدࣰا لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٤١
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then the punishment overtook them justly and rightfully and We made them as scum (of the flood), so the people who do wrong are far removed (from the mercy of God)
fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣayḥatu bil-ḥaqi fajaʿalnāhum ghuthāan fabuʿ'dan lil'qawmi l-ẓālimīn
23:42 ›
ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قُرُونًا ءَاخَرِینَ ۝٤٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then We raised other generations after them
thumma anshanā min baʿdihim qurūnan ākharīn
23:43 ›
مَا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا یَسۡتَءۡخِرُونَ ۝٤٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
No community can go ahead of its appointed time (and thus manage to escape their doom) nor can they remain behind (it, or delay it)
mā tasbiqu min ummatin ajalahā wamā yastakhirūn
23:44 ›
ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتۡرَاۖ كُلَّ مَا جَاۤءَ أُمَّةࣰ رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُۖ فَأَتۡبَعۡنَا بَعۡضَهُم بَعۡضࣰا وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَحَادِیثَۚ فَبُعۡدࣰا لِّقَوۡمࣲ لَّا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٤٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then We sent Our Messengers successively (one after the other). Whenever there came to a community its Messenger (of God), they treated him as a liar. So We made some of them follow others (to destruction) and We reduced them to mere legendary tales. Therefore the people who do not believe are far removed (from the mercy of their Lord)
thumma arsalnā rusulanā tatrā kulla mā jāa ummatan rasūluhā kadhabūhu fa-atbaʿnā baʿḍahum baʿḍan wajaʿalnāhum aḥādītha fabuʿ'dan liqawmin lā yu'minūn
23:45 ›
ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٤٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Messages and a clear authority
thumma arsalnā mūsā wa-akhāhu hārūna biāyātinā wasul'ṭānin mubīni
23:46 ›
إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِۦ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوۡمًا عَالِینَ ۝٤٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
To Pharaoh and his courtiers but they waxed proud for they were a haughty (type of) people
ilā fir'ʿawna wamala-ihi fa-is'takbarū wakānū qawman ʿālīn
23:47 ›
فَقَالُوۤا۟ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لِبَشَرَیۡنِ مِثۡلِنَا وَقَوۡمُهُمَا لَنَا عَـٰبِدُونَ ۝٤٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And they said, `Shall we believe in two human beings like ourselves while their people (- the Israelites) are our bondsmen?
faqālū anu'minu libasharayni mith'linā waqawmuhumā lanā ʿābidūn
23:48 ›
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡمُهۡلَكِینَ ۝٤٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
So they cried lies to both of them with the result they became of those who were destroyed
fakadhabūhumā fakānū mina l-muh'lakīn
23:49 ›
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَهۡتَدُونَ ۝٤٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
And (after this event) We gave Moses the Book (-the Torah) so that they (- his people) might receive guidance (through it)
walaqad ātaynā mūsā l-kitāba laʿallahum yahtadūn
23:50 ›
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱبۡنَ مَرۡیَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥۤ ءَایَةࣰ وَءَاوَیۡنَـٰهُمَاۤ إِلَىٰ رَبۡوَةࣲ ذَاتِ قَرَارࣲ وَمَعِینࣲ ۝٥٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, (and a model of virtue), and We gave them both refuge upon a worth-living lofty plateau abounding in (green and fruitful) valleys and springs of running water
wajaʿalnā ib'na maryama wa-ummahu āyatan waāwaynāhumā ilā rabwatin dhāti qarārin wamaʿīni
4 Higher Values of Life
23:51 ›
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلرُّسُلُ كُلُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِ وَٱعۡمَلُوا۟ صَـٰلِحًاۖ إِنِّی بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٥١
Amatul Rahman Omar
O you Messengers! eat of the things which are clean, good and pure and (thus) do good works. Verily, I am Well-Aware of what you do
yāayyuhā l-rusulu kulū mina l-ṭayibāti wa-iʿ'malū ṣāliḥan innī bimā taʿmalūna ʿalīmu
23:52 ›
وَإِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦۤ أُمَّتُكُمۡ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱتَّقُونِ ۝٥٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
Surely, (know that) this community of yours is (infact) one community (and your religion one religion), and I am your Lord, so take Me as (your) shield
wa-inna hādhihi ummatukum ummatan wāḥidatan wa-anā rabbukum fa-ittaqūn
23:53 ›
فَتَقَطَّعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَهُم بَیۡنَهُمۡ زُبُرࣰاۖ كُلُّ حِزۡبِۭ بِمَا لَدَیۡهِمۡ فَرِحُونَ ۝٥٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
But the people, (rather than preserve their unity) split up their affair among themselves (forming themselves into factions) considering (each portion thus split up) as (the real) Scripture, every faction rejoicing in that which was with them
fataqaṭṭaʿū amrahum baynahum zuburan kullu ḥiz'bin bimā ladayhim fariḥūn
23:54 ›
فَذَرۡهُمۡ فِی غَمۡرَتِهِمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِینٍ ۝٥٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
So leave them in their utter confusion (due to their ignorance) for a time
fadharhum fī ghamratihim ḥattā ḥīni
23:55 ›
أَیَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِۦ مِن مَّالࣲ وَبَنِینَ ۝٥٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
Do they think that because of what We go on adding to their (worldly) wealth and children
ayaḥsabūna annamā numidduhum bihi min mālin wabanīn
23:56 ›
نُسَارِعُ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِۚ بَل لَّا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٥٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
We are in a hurry to do them good? Nay, but they do not realise (the true state of things)
nusāriʿu lahum fī l-khayrāti bal lā yashʿurūn
23:57 ›
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ هُم مِّنۡ خَشۡیَةِ رَبِّهِم مُّشۡفِقُونَ ۝٥٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
As for those who out of the Majesty of their Lord are full of awe and reverence to Him
inna alladhīna hum min khashyati rabbihim mush'fiqūn
23:58 ›
وَٱلَّذِینَ هُم بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٥٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
And those who believe in the revelations of their Lord
wa-alladhīna hum biāyāti rabbihim yu'minūn
23:59 ›
وَٱلَّذِینَ هُم بِرَبِّهِمۡ لَا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٥٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
And those who associate not partners with their Lord
wa-alladhīna hum birabbihim lā yush'rikūn
23:60 ›
وَٱلَّذِینَ یُؤۡتُونَ مَاۤ ءَاتَوا۟ وَّقُلُوبُهُمۡ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمۡ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ رَ ٰجِعُونَ ۝٦٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
And those who give whatever they can afford to give (as alms in the way of their Lord), while their hearts tremble (at the thought) that they are returning to their Lord (and whether their deeds will find His approval or not)
wa-alladhīna yu'tūna mā ātaw waqulūbuhum wajilatun annahum ilā rabbihim rājiʿūn
23:61 ›
أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِی ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِ وَهُمۡ لَهَا سَـٰبِقُونَ ۝٦١
Amatul Rahman Omar
It is they who are quick and eager to do good works to outdo others and it is they who are (the) foremost for these (virtues, and shall win the race)
ulāika yusāriʿūna fī l-khayrāti wahum lahā sābiqūn
23:62 ›
وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا وُسۡعَهَاۚ وَلَدَیۡنَا كِتَـٰبࣱ یَنطِقُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝٦٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We do not lay down responsibility upon any soul beyond its capacity and We have a book (of law) which speaks and acts justly and no injustice is done to anyone
walā nukallifu nafsan illā wus'ʿahā waladaynā kitābun yanṭiqu bil-ḥaqi wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn
23:63 ›
بَلۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ فِی غَمۡرَةࣲ مِّنۡ هَـٰذَا وَلَهُمۡ أَعۡمَـٰلࣱ مِّن دُونِ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُمۡ لَهَا عَـٰمِلُونَ ۝٦٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
Nay, their (- the disbelievers') minds are in utter confusion (due to ignorance) about this (Qur'an), and they are (engrossed) in deeds different from the (bindings of) revelations and they go on doing them
bal qulūbuhum fī ghamratin min hādhā walahum aʿmālun min dūni dhālika hum lahā ʿāmilūn
23:64 ›
حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَاۤ أَخَذۡنَا مُتۡرَفِیهِم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمۡ یَجۡءَرُونَ ۝٦٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
Yet as soon as We take those of them given to a life of luxury to task, behold! they start appealing for succour
ḥattā idhā akhadhnā mut'rafīhim bil-ʿadhābi idhā hum yajarūn
23:65 ›
لَا تَجۡءَرُوا۟ ٱلۡیَوۡمَۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ ۝٦٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Whereupon it will be said to them,) `Do not appeal for succour this day, you shall receive no help from Us
lā tajarū l-yawma innakum minnā lā tunṣarūn
23:66 ›
قَدۡ كَانَتۡ ءَایَـٰتِی تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡكُمۡ فَكُنتُمۡ عَلَىٰۤ أَعۡقَـٰبِكُمۡ تَنكِصُونَ ۝٦٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
`My Messages were recited to you but you used to turn back on your heels
qad kānat āyātī tut'lā ʿalaykum fakuntum ʿalā aʿqābikum tankiṣūn
23:67 ›
مُسۡتَكۡبِرِینَ بِهِۦ سَـٰمِرࣰا تَهۡجُرُونَ ۝٦٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Treating them with disdain and arrogance, talking nonsense about this (Qur'an) by night (in your meetings), you gave (it) up.
mus'takbirīna bihi sāmiran tahjurūn
23:68 ›
أَفَلَمۡ یَدَّبَّرُوا۟ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ أَمۡ جَاۤءَهُم مَّا لَمۡ یَأۡتِ ءَابَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٦٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
Have they not then pondered over the (Divine) word? As a matter of fact there has come to them that which had not come to their fathers of old
afalam yaddabbarū l-qawla am jāahum mā lam yati ābāahumu l-awalīn
23:69 ›
أَمۡ لَمۡ یَعۡرِفُوا۟ رَسُولَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ ۝٦٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
Or do they deny their Messenger because they do not recognise him
am lam yaʿrifū rasūlahum fahum lahu munkirūn
23:70 ›
أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ بِهِۦ جِنَّةُۢۚ بَلۡ جَاۤءَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لِلۡحَقِّ كَـٰرِهُونَ ۝٧٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
Or do they say, `He is possessed?' Nay, but the fact is that he has brought them the truth while most of them are averse to the truth
am yaqūlūna bihi jinnatun bal jāahum bil-ḥaqi wa-aktharuhum lil'ḥaqqi kārihūn
23:71 ›
وَلَوِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلۡحَقُّ أَهۡوَاۤءَهُمۡ لَفَسَدَتِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَن فِیهِنَّۚ بَلۡ أَتَیۡنَـٰهُم بِذِكۡرِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ عَن ذِكۡرِهِم مُّعۡرِضُونَ ۝٧١
Amatul Rahman Omar
And had the Eternal Truth (true God) followed their vain and low desires, the heavens and the earth and all those who are (living) in them would have surely gone to ruin. But We have brought them that which will raise them to eminence, yet they are turning aside from their own means of (raising them to) eminence
walawi ittabaʿa l-ḥaqu ahwāahum lafasadati l-samāwātu wal-arḍu waman fīhinna bal ataynāhum bidhik'rihim fahum ʿan dhik'rihim muʿ'riḍūn
23:72 ›
أَمۡ تَسۡءَلُهُمۡ خَرۡجࣰا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَیۡرࣱۖ وَهُوَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰزِقِینَ ۝٧٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
Or do you ask of them a tribute? (There is no such thing) as the tribute of your Lord is the best, for He is the Best of Providers
am tasaluhum kharjan fakharāju rabbika khayrun wahuwa khayru l-rāziqīn
23:73 ›
وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدۡعُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٧٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
And most surely you are calling them to a straight and right path
wa-innaka latadʿūhum ilā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi
23:74 ›
وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ عَنِ ٱلصِّرَ ٰطِ لَنَـٰكِبُونَ ۝٧٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
But those who do not believe in the Here after, are indeed deviating from that path
wa-inna alladhīna lā yu'minūna bil-ākhirati ʿani l-ṣirāṭi lanākibūn
23:75 ›
۞ وَلَوۡ رَحِمۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَكَشَفۡنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرࣲّ لَّلَجُّوا۟ فِی طُغۡیَـٰنِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝٧٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
And even if We had shown them mercy and relieved them of their distress they would still persist in their transgression, wandering on blindly
walaw raḥim'nāhum wakashafnā mā bihim min ḍurrin lalajjū fī ṭugh'yānihim yaʿmahūn
23:76 ›
وَلَقَدۡ أَخَذۡنَـٰهُم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ فَمَا ٱسۡتَكَانُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمۡ وَمَا یَتَضَرَّعُونَ ۝٧٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We did seize them with punishment (in the past) but they did not humble themselves before their Lord, nor would they supplicate (to Him for mercy)
walaqad akhadhnāhum bil-ʿadhābi famā is'takānū lirabbihim wamā yataḍarraʿūn
23:77 ›
حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم بَابࣰا ذَا عَذَابࣲ شَدِیدٍ إِذَا هُمۡ فِیهِ مُبۡلِسُونَ ۝٧٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
Behold! no sooner did We let loose on them a severe punishment than they are utterly despaired (of God's mercy) thereat
ḥattā idhā fataḥnā ʿalayhim bāban dhā ʿadhābin shadīdin idhā hum fīhi mub'lisūn
5 Polytheism is self-condemned
23:78 ›
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡءِدَةَۚ قَلِیلࣰا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٧٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
And (disbelievers!) it is He Who has given you ears, eyes and hearts (yet) little is the gratitude you express
wahuwa alladhī ansha-a lakumu l-samʿa wal-abṣāra wal-afidata qalīlan mā tashkurūn
23:79 ›
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی ذَرَأَكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ ۝٧٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
And it is He Who has multiplied you in the earth and to Him you shall be gathered
wahuwa alladhī dhara-akum fī l-arḍi wa-ilayhi tuḥ'sharūn
23:80 ›
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی یُحۡیِۦ وَیُمِیتُ وَلَهُ ٱخۡتِلَـٰفُ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٨٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
It is He Who gives life and causes death and He alone controls the alternation of night and day. Will you not then make use of your understanding
wahuwa alladhī yuḥ'yī wayumītu walahu ikh'tilāfu al-layli wal-nahāri afalā taʿqilūn
23:81 ›
بَلۡ قَالُوا۟ مِثۡلَ مَا قَالَ ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ ۝٨١
Amatul Rahman Omar
But (rather than trying to understand) they repeated what the former people had said
bal qālū mith'la mā qāla l-awalūn
23:82 ›
قَالُوۤا۟ أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ ۝٨٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
They had said, `What! shall we be certainly raised up to life when we are dead and reduced to mere dust and bones
qālū a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamabʿūthūn
23:83 ›
لَقَدۡ وُعِدۡنَا نَحۡنُ وَءَابَاۤؤُنَا هَـٰذَا مِن قَبۡلُ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّاۤ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٨٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Surely, we and our forefathers have already been given such promises before. These are nothing but only fables of the former people.
laqad wuʿid'nā naḥnu waābāunā hādhā min qablu in hādhā illā asāṭīru l-awalīn
23:84 ›
قُل لِّمَنِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَن فِیهَاۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٨٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
Ask, `(Tell me) if you know whom the earth and all the creatures therein belong to.
qul limani l-arḍu waman fīhā in kuntum taʿlamūn
23:85 ›
سَیَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٨٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
They will certainly say, `To Allah.' (Thereupon) say, `Will you still pay no heed?
sayaqūlūna lillahi qul afalā tadhakkarūn
23:86 ›
قُلۡ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ ٱلسَّبۡعِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٨٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Say, `Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Great Throne (of power)?
qul man rabbu l-samāwāti l-sabʿi warabbu l-ʿarshi l-ʿaẓīm
23:87 ›
سَیَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٨٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
They will surely say, `(They all belong) to Allah.' Say, `Will you not then guard against (refusal and evil deeds).
sayaqūlūna lillahi qul afalā tattaqūn
23:88 ›
قُلۡ مَنۢ بِیَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ وَهُوَ یُجِیرُ وَلَا یُجَارُ عَلَیۡهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٨٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
Ask, `(Tell me) if you know who is it in whose hands lies the dominating control of everything and who protects (all) while against whom no protection can be had?
qul man biyadihi malakūtu kulli shayin wahuwa yujīru walā yujāru ʿalayhi in kuntum taʿlamūn
23:89 ›
سَیَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسۡحَرُونَ ۝٨٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
They will indeed say, `All these (attributes) belong to Allah.' Say, `How and whither are you then being led away?
sayaqūlūna lillahi qul fa-annā tus'ḥarūn
23:90 ›
بَلۡ أَتَیۡنَـٰهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝٩٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
The thing is that We have brought them the truth (about the unity of God) but they are sticking to lies (by refusing it repeatedly)
bal ataynāhum bil-ḥaqi wa-innahum lakādhibūn
23:91 ›
مَا ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِن وَلَدࣲ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُۥ مِنۡ إِلَـٰهٍۚ إِذࣰا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَـٰهِۭ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝٩١
Amatul Rahman Omar
Allah has taken to Himself no son, nor is there any other god along with Him. (Had there been any) each god would have left with what he had created, and some of them would surely have dominated over others. Holy is Allah, far above all they attribute (to Him)
mā ittakhadha l-lahu min waladin wamā kāna maʿahu min ilāhin idhan ladhahaba kullu ilāhin bimā khalaqa walaʿalā baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin sub'ḥāna l-lahi ʿammā yaṣifūn
23:92 ›
عَـٰلِمِ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٩٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
He has knowledge of (both) the hidden and the manifest realities. He is Highly-Exalted above (all the things) they associate (with Him)
qul rabbi immā turiyannī mā yūʿadūn
6 Regrets of the Wicked
23:93 ›
قُل رَّبِّ إِمَّا تُرِیَنِّی مَا یُوعَدُونَ ۝٩٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
Say (in prayer), `My Lord! if you should show me (in my-life time) that (punishment) they are threatened with
Qul rabbi imma turiyannee ma yooAAadoona
23:94 ›
رَبِّ فَلَا تَجۡعَلۡنِی فِی ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٩٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
`My Lord! then do not leave me among the wrong-doing people.
rabbi falā tajʿalnī fī l-qawmi l-ẓālimīn
23:95 ›
وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰۤ أَن نُّرِیَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمۡ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ ۝٩٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
As a matter of fact, We have every power of showing you (in your life-time) that (punishment) We threaten them with
wa-innā ʿalā an nuriyaka mā naʿiduhum laqādirūn
23:96 ›
ٱدۡفَعۡ بِٱلَّتِی هِیَ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلسَّیِّئَةَۚ نَحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا یَصِفُونَ ۝٩٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Repel (their) evil (by repaying it) with that which is the fairest. We know very well (the things) they allege (about you)
id'faʿ bi-allatī hiya aḥsanu l-sayi-ata naḥnu aʿlamu bimā yaṣifūn
23:97 ›
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنۡ هَمَزَ ٰتِ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینِ ۝٩٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And say (in prayer), `My Lord! I seek refuge in You from the mischief-mongerings of the rebellious (people)
waqul rabbi aʿūdhu bika min hamazāti l-shayāṭīn
23:98 ›
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن یَحۡضُرُونِ ۝٩٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Rather, I (also) seek refuge in You, my Lord! lest they should even come near me.
wa-aʿūdhu bika rabbi an yaḥḍurūn
23:99 ›
حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱرۡجِعُونِ ۝٩٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
Behold! when death approaches one of them (- the rebellious ones) he says (making entreaties repeatedly), `Send me back, My Lord! send me back
ḥattā idhā jāa aḥadahumu l-mawtu qāla rabbi ir'jiʿūn
23:100 ›
لَعَلِّیۤ أَعۡمَلُ صَـٰلِحࣰا فِیمَا تَرَكۡتُۚ كَلَّاۤۚ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَاۤىِٕلُهَاۖ وَمِن وَرَاۤىِٕهِم بَرۡزَخٌ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝١٠٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
`So that I may do righteous (deeds) which I failed to do (in the worldly life).' `Never, that can never be,' (is the answer he receives). It is but a word (of excuse) which he utters. And there is a barrier behind them which shall remain till the day when they shall be raised to life (again)
laʿallī aʿmalu ṣāliḥan fīmā taraktu kallā innahā kalimatun huwa qāiluhā wamin warāihim barzakhun ilā yawmi yub'ʿathūn
23:101 ›
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِی ٱلصُّورِ فَلَاۤ أَنسَابَ بَیۡنَهُمۡ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَلَا یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ ۝١٠١
Amatul Rahman Omar
So when the trumpet is blown, ties of kinship will cease to exist between them (- the people to render assistance) that day, nor will they ask after one another
fa-idhā nufikha fī l-ṣūri falā ansāba baynahum yawma-idhin walā yatasāalūn
23:102 ›
فَمَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَ ٰزِینُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ ۝١٠٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then (on that day there shall be a true weighing so that) whose scales are heavy (and their deeds of righteousness preponderant and manifold) it is they who are the triumphant
faman thaqulat mawāzīnuhu fa-ulāika humu l-muf'liḥūn
23:103 ›
وَمَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَ ٰزِینُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ خَسِرُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ فِی جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝١٠٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
But whose scales are light (and their deeds of righteousness of no account), it is they who have ruined their souls and who shall abide in Gehenna for long
waman khaffat mawāzīnuhu fa-ulāika alladhīna khasirū anfusahum fī jahannama khālidūn
23:104 ›
تَلۡفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَهُمۡ فِیهَا كَـٰلِحُونَ ۝١٠٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
The Fire shall scorch their faces (so they will lie there disfigured with burning) and they will wear a grin (of pain and anguish)
talfaḥu wujūhahumu l-nāru wahum fīhā kāliḥūn
23:105 ›
أَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ ءَایَـٰتِی تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡكُمۡ فَكُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝١٠٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
(It will be said to them), `Is it not true that My Messages were recited to you but you went on crying them lies?
alam takun āyātī tut'lā ʿalaykum fakuntum bihā tukadhibūn
23:106 ›
قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتۡ عَلَیۡنَا شِقۡوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوۡمࣰا ضَاۤلِّینَ ۝١٠٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
They will say, `Our Lord! our misfortune got the better of us (when we gave ourselves up to evil doings) and we were actually an erring people
qālū rabbanā ghalabat ʿalaynā shiq'watunā wakunnā qawman ḍāllīn
23:107 ›
رَبَّنَاۤ أَخۡرِجۡنَا مِنۡهَا فَإِنۡ عُدۡنَا فَإِنَّا ظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝١٠٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Our Lord! deliver us from this (Hell), we shall indeed be unjust if we return (to our evil ways of disobedience).
rabbanā akhrij'nā min'hā fa-in ʿud'nā fa-innā ẓālimūn
23:108 ›
قَالَ ٱخۡسَءُوا۟ فِیهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ ۝١٠٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
(God) will say, `Begone with you, despised therein (the Hell), and do not speak to Me
qāla ikh'saū fīhā walā tukallimūn
23:109 ›
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِیقࣱ مِّنۡ عِبَادِی یَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَاۤ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا وَٱرۡحَمۡنَا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰحِمِینَ ۝١٠٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
`There was a section from among My servants who said, "Our Lord! we believe, so protect us (against our sins) and have mercy on us, for you are the Best of those who show mercy."
innahu kāna farīqun min ʿibādī yaqūlūna rabbanā āmannā fa-igh'fir lanā wa-ir'ḥamnā wa-anta khayru l-rāḥimīn
23:110 ›
فَٱتَّخَذۡتُمُوهُمۡ سِخۡرِیًّا حَتَّىٰۤ أَنسَوۡكُمۡ ذِكۡرِی وَكُنتُم مِّنۡهُمۡ تَضۡحَكُونَ ۝١١٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
`But you treated them as a laughing-stock and (you continued to laugh at them) until they, (so to say,) made you give up (even) My remembrance while you ever went on laughing at them
fa-ittakhadhtumūhum sikh'riyyan ḥattā ansawkum dhik'rī wakuntum min'hum taḍḥakūn
23:111 ›
إِنِّی جَزَیۡتُهُمُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوۤا۟ أَنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡفَاۤىِٕزُونَ ۝١١١
Amatul Rahman Omar
`This day I have rewarded them for their patient endurance so that they are the ones who have attained their goals and achieved bliss.
innī jazaytuhumu l-yawma bimā ṣabarū annahum humu l-fāizūn
23:112 ›
قَـٰلَ كَمۡ لَبِثۡتُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ عَدَدَ سِنِینَ ۝١١٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
(God) will (then) say, `What number of years have you tarried on the earth?
qāla kam labith'tum fī l-arḍi ʿadada sinīn
23:113 ›
قَالُوا۟ لَبِثۡنَا یَوۡمًا أَوۡ بَعۡضَ یَوۡمࣲ فَسۡءَلِ ٱلۡعَاۤدِّینَ ۝١١٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
They will say, `We tarried only for a day or part of a day (we have no exact idea), but ask those who keep the count.
qālū labith'nā yawman aw baʿḍa yawmin fasali l-ʿādīn
23:114 ›
قَـٰلَ إِن لَّبِثۡتُمۡ إِلَّا قَلِیلࣰاۖ لَّوۡ أَنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١١٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
(God) will say, `You tarried but a little while, if only you knew (what loss you have incurred by missing doing good)
qāla in labith'tum illā qalīlan law annakum kuntum taʿlamūn
23:115 ›
أَفَحَسِبۡتُمۡ أَنَّمَا خَلَقۡنَـٰكُمۡ عَبَثࣰا وَأَنَّكُمۡ إِلَیۡنَا لَا تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝١١٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Did you then think that We had created you without purpose and that you would not be brought back to Us?
afaḥasib'tum annamā khalaqnākum ʿabathan wa-annakum ilaynā lā tur'jaʿūn
23:116 ›
فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡكَرِیمِ ۝١١٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Whereas Highly Exalted is Allah, the Monarch, the Truly Existing One. There is no other, cannot be and will never be One worthy of worship but He, the Lord of the Glorious Throne
fataʿālā l-lahu l-maliku l-ḥaqu lā ilāha illā huwa rabbu l-ʿarshi l-karīm
23:117 ›
وَمَن یَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرۡهَـٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ ۝١١٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And he who calls upon another god along with Allah for (the god head of) which he has no proof, shall have to render an account to his Lord. Certainly, such disbelievers will never gain their object
waman yadʿu maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara lā bur'hāna lahu bihi fa-innamā ḥisābuhu ʿinda rabbihi innahu lā yuf'liḥu l-kāfirūn
23:118 ›
وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ وَٱرۡحَمۡ وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰحِمِینَ ۝١١٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
And say (in your prayer), `My Lord! protect and have mercy, and you are the Best of those who show mercy.
waqul rabbi igh'fir wa-ir'ḥam wa-anta khayru l-rāḥimīn
