1 Success of the Faithful

۞ قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١

The believers have truly prospered.

qad aflaḥa l-mu'minūn

ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ فِی صَلَاتِهِمۡ خَـٰشِعُونَ ۝٢

Those are humbled in their prayers.

alladhīna hum fī ṣalātihim khāshiʿūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ عَنِ ٱللَّغۡوِ مُعۡرِضُونَ ۝٣

And those who turn away from idle talk.

wa-alladhīna hum ʿani l-laghwi muʿ'riḍūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَـٰعِلُونَ ۝٤

And those who practice the paying of sanctifying dues.

wa-alladhīna hum lilzzakati fāʿilūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ لِفُرُوجِهِمۡ حَـٰفِظُونَ ۝٥

And those who guard their chastities

wa-alladhīna hum lifurūjihim ḥāfiẓūn

إِلَّا عَلَىٰۤ أَزۡوَ ٰجِهِمۡ أَوۡ مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَیۡمَـٰنُهُمۡ فَإِنَّهُمۡ غَیۡرُ مَلُومِینَ ۝٦

except with their marital conjoints or with that their right hands possess, for they truly are not susceptible to blame.

illā ʿalā azwājihim aw mā malakat aymānuhum fa-innahum ghayru malūmīn

فَمَنِ ٱبۡتَغَىٰ وَرَاۤءَ ذَ ٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡعَادُونَ ۝٧

But those who seek what is beyond that [out of lust], they truly are the transgressors.

famani ib'taghā warāa dhālika fa-ulāika humu l-ʿādūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمۡ وَعَهۡدِهِمۡ رَ ٰعُونَ ۝٨

And those who watch closely over their trusts and their covenants.

wa-alladhīna hum li-amānātihim waʿahdihim rāʿūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَ ٰتِهِمۡ یُحَافِظُونَ ۝٩

And those who keep their prayers.

wa-alladhīna hum ʿalā ṣalawātihim yuḥāfiẓūn

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡوَ ٰرِثُونَ ۝١٠

These are those who will be the inheritors.

ulāika humu l-wārithūn

ٱلَّذِینَ یَرِثُونَ ٱلۡفِرۡدَوۡسَ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝١١

Those who will inherit the garden of Firdaus to abide therein forever.

alladhīna yarithūna l-fir'dawsa hum fīhā khālidūn

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن سُلَـٰلَةࣲ مِّن طِینࣲ ۝١٢

And indeed We created the human being out of a substance from clay.

walaqad khalaqnā l-insāna min sulālatin min ṭīni

ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَـٰهُ نُطۡفَةࣰ فِی قَرَارࣲ مَّكِینࣲ ۝١٣

Then We caused him to be a drop of liquid in a resting place firmly secured.

thumma jaʿalnāhu nuṭ'fatan fī qarārin makīni

ثُمَّ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلنُّطۡفَةَ عَلَقَةࣰ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡعَلَقَةَ مُضۡغَةࣰ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمُضۡغَةَ عِظَـٰمࣰا فَكَسَوۡنَا ٱلۡعِظَـٰمَ لَحۡمࣰا ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَـٰهُ خَلۡقًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقِینَ ۝١٤

Then We created the drop of liquid into a clot of blood, then We created the clot of blood into a piece of flesh, then We created the piece of flesh into bones, then We covered the bones with skin, then We raised him up into a different creature. So blessed is Allah the best of the creators

thumma khalaqnā l-nuṭ'fata ʿalaqatan fakhalaqnā l-ʿalaqata muḍ'ghatan fakhalaqnā l-muḍ'ghata ʿiẓāman fakasawnā l-ʿiẓāma laḥman thumma anshanāhu khalqan ākhara fatabāraka l-lahu aḥsanu l-khāliqīn

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰلِكَ لَمَیِّتُونَ ۝١٥

Then after that you certainly are going to die.

thumma innakum baʿda dhālika lamayyitūn

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ تُبۡعَثُونَ ۝١٦

Then on the day of resurrection, you will be resurrected.

thumma innakum yawma l-qiyāmati tub'ʿathūn

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعَ طَرَاۤىِٕقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ ٱلۡخَلۡقِ غَـٰفِلِینَ ۝١٧

And indeed We have created above you seven causeways and We are never oblivious about the creation.

walaqad khalaqnā fawqakum sabʿa ṭarāiqa wamā kunnā ʿani l-khalqi ghāfilīn

وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءَۢ بِقَدَرࣲ فَأَسۡكَنَّـٰهُ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابِۭ بِهِۦ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ ۝١٨

And We sent down water from the heaven in due measure and then We gave it a tranquil place to stay in the earth and We are surely able to make it disappear.

wa-anzalnā mina l-samāi māan biqadarin fa-askannāhu fī l-arḍi wa-innā ʿalā dhahābin bihi laqādirūn

فَأَنشَأۡنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتࣲ مِّن نَّخِیلࣲ وَأَعۡنَـٰبࣲ لَّكُمۡ فِیهَا فَوَ ٰكِهُ كَثِیرَةࣱ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ۝١٩

And with it We raised for you gardens of date trees and of grapes wherein for you are lots of fruits and from which you eat.

fa-anshanā lakum bihi jannātin min nakhīlin wa-aʿnābin lakum fīhā fawākihu kathīratun wamin'hā takulūn

وَشَجَرَةࣰ تَخۡرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَیۡنَاۤءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِٱلدُّهۡنِ وَصِبۡغࣲ لِّلۡءَاكِلِینَ ۝٢٠

And a tree that grows forth from the Mount Sinai, it produces the oil and a condiment for the eaters.

washajaratan takhruju min ṭūri saynāa tanbutu bil-duh'ni waṣib'ghin lil'ākilīn

وَإِنَّ لَكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ لَعِبۡرَةࣰۖ نُّسۡقِیكُم مِّمَّا فِی بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمۡ فِیهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ كَثِیرَةࣱ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٢١

And truly in the cattle there is for you a lucid lesson. We make you drink from what comes from their bellies and in them for you are numerous benefits and from them you eat.

wa-inna lakum fī l-anʿāmi laʿib'ratan nus'qīkum mimmā fī buṭūnihā walakum fīhā manāfiʿu kathīratun wamin'hā takulūn

وَعَلَیۡهَا وَعَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ تُحۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٢

And on them and on the vessels you are carried.

waʿalayhā waʿalā l-ful'ki tuḥ'malūn

2 Noah

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ فَقَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٢٣

And indeed We sent Noah to his people and he said, “O my people! Serve Allah. There is no deity for you other than He. Will you not then guard your own souls?”

walaqad arsalnā nūḥan ilā qawmihi faqāla yāqawmi uʿ'budū l-laha mā lakum min ilāhin ghayruhu afalā tattaqūn

فَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ یُرِیدُ أَن یَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةࣰ مَّا سَمِعۡنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِیۤ ءَابَاۤىِٕنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٢٤

So the chieftains who disbelieved from his people said, “This is no other than a human like you. He intends to place himself above you. Had Allah willed, He would have sent down angels. We never heard about this in our forefathers.”

faqāla l-mala-u alladhīna kafarū min qawmihi mā hādhā illā basharun mith'lukum yurīdu an yatafaḍḍala ʿalaykum walaw shāa l-lahu la-anzala malāikatan mā samiʿ'nā bihādhā fī ābāinā l-awalīn

إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلُۢ بِهِۦ جِنَّةࣱ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ حِینࣲ ۝٢٥

He is not but a man who is possessed [by daemon] so bear with him for a little while.

in huwa illā rajulun bihi jinnatun fatarabbaṣū bihi ḥattā ḥīni

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِی بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ ۝٢٦

He said, “O my Lord! Grant me victory for that they belied me.”

qāla rabbi unṣur'nī bimā kadhabūn

فَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ أَنِ ٱصۡنَعِ ٱلۡفُلۡكَ بِأَعۡیُنِنَا وَوَحۡیِنَا فَإِذَا جَاۤءَ أَمۡرُنَا وَفَارَ ٱلتَّنُّورُ فَٱسۡلُكۡ فِیهَا مِن كُلࣲّ زَوۡجَیۡنِ ٱثۡنَیۡنِ وَأَهۡلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَلَا تُخَـٰطِبۡنِی فِی ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوۤا۟ إِنَّهُم مُّغۡرَقُونَ ۝٢٧

So We inspired him saying, “Build an ark under Our eyes and under Our divine instruction and when Our commandment comes and the spring of water gushes forth, make enter therein from every kind two pairs and all are going to perish except the ones among them on whom Our word of sentence [to survive] has been passed and do not address Me on behalf of those who have wronged their own souls. They certainly are going to drown.”

fa-awḥaynā ilayhi ani iṣ'naʿi l-ful'ka bi-aʿyuninā wawaḥyinā fa-idhā jāa amrunā wafāra l-tanūru fa-us'luk fīhā min kullin zawjayni ith'nayni wa-ahlaka illā man sabaqa ʿalayhi l-qawlu min'hum walā tukhāṭib'nī fī alladhīna ẓalamū innahum mugh'raqūn

فَإِذَا ٱسۡتَوَیۡتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ فَقُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِی نَجَّىٰنَا مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٢٨

Once you and those with you settle in the ark then say, “The praise is for Allah the one who saved us from the people who wrong their own souls.”

fa-idhā is'tawayta anta waman maʿaka ʿalā l-ful'ki faquli l-ḥamdu lillahi alladhī najjānā mina l-qawmi l-ẓālimīn

وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلۡنِی مُنزَلࣰا مُّبَارَكࣰا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡمُنزِلِینَ ۝٢٩

And say, “O my Lord! Let me land at a blessed place of landing and you are the best of those who give a place of landing.”

waqul rabbi anzil'nī munzalan mubārakan wa-anta khayru l-munzilīn

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبۡتَلِینَ ۝٣٠

Truly in this surely are the signs and We were only trying them.

inna fī dhālika laāyātin wa-in kunnā lamub'talīn

ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قَرۡنًا ءَاخَرِینَ ۝٣١

Then after them We raised another generation.

thumma anshanā min baʿdihim qarnan ākharīn

فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا فِیهِمۡ رَسُولࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٣٢

And We sent among them a messenger from them [and he said] that, “Worship Allah, you have no other deity beside Him. Will you then not revere [Him]?”

fa-arsalnā fīhim rasūlan min'hum ani uʿ'budū l-laha mā lakum min ilāhin ghayruhu afalā tattaqūn

3 Prophets after Noah

وَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِهِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَاۤءِ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ وَأَتۡرَفۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا مَا هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ یَأۡكُلُ مِمَّا تَأۡكُلُونَ مِنۡهُ وَیَشۡرَبُ مِمَّا تَشۡرَبُونَ ۝٣٣

And the chieftains from his people who disbelieved and belied the meeting of the hereafter and whom We had made affluent in the life of this world said, “He is no more than a human like you. He eats of that which you eat and he drinks of that which you drink.

waqāla l-mala-u min qawmihi alladhīna kafarū wakadhabū biliqāi l-ākhirati wa-atrafnāhum fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā mā hādhā illā basharun mith'lukum yakulu mimmā takulūna min'hu wayashrabu mimmā tashrabūn

وَلَىِٕنۡ أَطَعۡتُم بَشَرࣰا مِّثۡلَكُمۡ إِنَّكُمۡ إِذࣰا لَّخَـٰسِرُونَ ۝٣٤

And if you obey a human like yourselves, truly then you are ones who are going to be in loss.

wala-in aṭaʿtum basharan mith'lakum innakum idhan lakhāsirūn

أَیَعِدُكُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ إِذَا مِتُّمۡ وَكُنتُمۡ تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَنَّكُم مُّخۡرَجُونَ ۝٣٥

Does he promise you that when you had died and you became dust and bones, you indeed are going to be brought forth?

ayaʿidukum annakum idhā mittum wakuntum turāban waʿiẓāman annakum mukh'rajūn

۞ هَیۡهَاتَ هَیۡهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ ۝٣٦

Far and far is that what you are promised.

hayhāta hayhāta limā tūʿadūn

إِنۡ هِیَ إِلَّا حَیَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡیَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحۡیَا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَبۡعُوثِینَ ۝٣٧

It is but our life of this world. We die and we live and we are not going to be resurrected.

in hiya illā ḥayātunā l-dun'yā namūtu wanaḥyā wamā naḥnu bimabʿūthīn

إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبࣰا وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٣٨

He is but a man who has contrived a lie against Allah and we are not going to believe him.”

in huwa illā rajulun if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban wamā naḥnu lahu bimu'minīn

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِی بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ ۝٣٩

He said, “O my Lord! Help me because they belied me.”

qāla rabbi unṣur'nī bimā kadhabūn

قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِیلࣲ لَّیُصۡبِحُنَّ نَـٰدِمِینَ ۝٤٠

He said, “In a little while, they will certainly become those who are stricken with regret.”

qāla ʿammā qalīlin layuṣ'biḥunna nādimīn

فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ غُثَاۤءࣰۚ فَبُعۡدࣰا لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٤١

So the awful shriek seized them by the truth and We reduced them into a stubble. Far away [from Allah’s mercy] are the people who wrong their own souls.

fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣayḥatu bil-ḥaqi fajaʿalnāhum ghuthāan fabuʿ'dan lil'qawmi l-ẓālimīn

ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قُرُونًا ءَاخَرِینَ ۝٤٢

Then after them We raised other generations.

thumma anshanā min baʿdihim qurūnan ākharīn

مَا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا یَسۡتَءۡخِرُونَ ۝٤٣

No nation can advance their appointed term nor can they be late for it.

mā tasbiqu min ummatin ajalahā wamā yastakhirūn

ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتۡرَاۖ كُلَّ مَا جَاۤءَ أُمَّةࣰ رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُۖ فَأَتۡبَعۡنَا بَعۡضَهُم بَعۡضࣰا وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَحَادِیثَۚ فَبُعۡدࣰا لِّقَوۡمࣲ لَّا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٤٤

Then We sent down messengers one after another. Every time came to a nation their messenger, they belied him. So We made them follow one another and We made them into news [for others]. Far removed [from Allah’s mercy] are people who do not believe.

thumma arsalnā rusulanā tatrā kulla mā jāa ummatan rasūluhā kadhabūhu fa-atbaʿnā baʿḍahum baʿḍan wajaʿalnāhum aḥādītha fabuʿ'dan liqawmin lā yu'minūn

ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٤٥

Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and with a manifest authority

thumma arsalnā mūsā wa-akhāhu hārūna biāyātinā wasul'ṭānin mubīni

إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِۦ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوۡمًا عَالِینَ ۝٤٦

unto Pharaoh and his chieftains but they held themselves as great ones and they were a people who held themselves high [in the earth]

ilā fir'ʿawna wamala-ihi fa-is'takbarū wakānū qawman ʿālīn

فَقَالُوۤا۟ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لِبَشَرَیۡنِ مِثۡلِنَا وَقَوۡمُهُمَا لَنَا عَـٰبِدُونَ ۝٤٧

and they said, “Should we believe in two humans like us when their people are but slaves for us.”

faqālū anu'minu libasharayni mith'linā waqawmuhumā lanā ʿābidūn

فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡمُهۡلَكِینَ ۝٤٨

And they belied the two of them so they became of those who were caused to perish.

fakadhabūhumā fakānū mina l-muh'lakīn

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَهۡتَدُونَ ۝٤٩

And We indeed gave the book to Moses so that they may find guidance.

walaqad ātaynā mūsā l-kitāba laʿallahum yahtadūn

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱبۡنَ مَرۡیَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥۤ ءَایَةࣰ وَءَاوَیۡنَـٰهُمَاۤ إِلَىٰ رَبۡوَةࣲ ذَاتِ قَرَارࣲ وَمَعِینࣲ ۝٥٠

And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and We brought the two of them for shelter to an elevated land which is a good resting place and is furnished with springs of water.

wajaʿalnā ib'na maryama wa-ummahu āyatan waāwaynāhumā ilā rabwatin dhāti qarārin wamaʿīni

4 Higher Values of Life

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلرُّسُلُ كُلُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِ وَٱعۡمَلُوا۟ صَـٰلِحًاۖ إِنِّی بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٥١

“O you the messengers! Eat from the things that are clean and work righteous deeds. Truly I am All-knowing about all that you do.”

yāayyuhā l-rusulu kulū mina l-ṭayibāti wa-iʿ'malū ṣāliḥan innī bimā taʿmalūna ʿalīmu

وَإِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦۤ أُمَّتُكُمۡ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱتَّقُونِ ۝٥٢

And truly this is your nation, one nation and I am your Lord so revere Me.

wa-inna hādhihi ummatukum ummatan wāḥidatan wa-anā rabbukum fa-ittaqūn

فَتَقَطَّعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَهُم بَیۡنَهُمۡ زُبُرࣰاۖ كُلُّ حِزۡبِۭ بِمَا لَدَیۡهِمۡ فَرِحُونَ ۝٥٣

But they tore their affair among them into pieces. Each party happy with the piece that they have.

fataqaṭṭaʿū amrahum baynahum zuburan kullu ḥiz'bin bimā ladayhim fariḥūn

فَذَرۡهُمۡ فِی غَمۡرَتِهِمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِینٍ ۝٥٤

So abandon them in their deep darkness for a while.

fadharhum fī ghamratihim ḥattā ḥīni

أَیَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِۦ مِن مَّالࣲ وَبَنِینَ ۝٥٥

Do they think then that We bestow upon them from wealth and children is only because

ayaḥsabūna annamā numidduhum bihi min mālin wabanīn

نُسَارِعُ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِۚ بَل لَّا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٥٦

We are eager to serve them with all kinds of good things? Nay! They are not aware [of Our true intention].

nusāriʿu lahum fī l-khayrāti bal lā yashʿurūn

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ هُم مِّنۡ خَشۡیَةِ رَبِّهِم مُّشۡفِقُونَ ۝٥٧

Truly those who are concerned for themselves due to the deference of their Lord.

inna alladhīna hum min khashyati rabbihim mush'fiqūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ هُم بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٥٨

And those who believe through the signs of their Lord.

wa-alladhīna hum biāyāti rabbihim yu'minūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ هُم بِرَبِّهِمۡ لَا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٥٩

And those who do not ascribe partners to their Lord.

wa-alladhīna hum birabbihim lā yush'rikūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ یُؤۡتُونَ مَاۤ ءَاتَوا۟ وَّقُلُوبُهُمۡ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمۡ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ رَ ٰجِعُونَ ۝٦٠

And those who give what they give while their hearts are in tremor [knowing] that they are going to return to their Lord.

wa-alladhīna yu'tūna mā ātaw waqulūbuhum wajilatun annahum ilā rabbihim rājiʿūn

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِی ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِ وَهُمۡ لَهَا سَـٰبِقُونَ ۝٦١

These are those who race with one another in good things and it is they who will take the lead in attaining that.

ulāika yusāriʿūna fī l-khayrāti wahum lahā sābiqūn

وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا وُسۡعَهَاۚ وَلَدَیۡنَا كِتَـٰبࣱ یَنطِقُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝٦٢

And We do not charge a soul with more than its capacity and with Us is a book that speaks in the truth and they will not be wronged [in the least].

walā nukallifu nafsan illā wus'ʿahā waladaynā kitābun yanṭiqu bil-ḥaqi wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn

بَلۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ فِی غَمۡرَةࣲ مِّنۡ هَـٰذَا وَلَهُمۡ أَعۡمَـٰلࣱ مِّن دُونِ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُمۡ لَهَا عَـٰمِلُونَ ۝٦٣

Nay their hearts are in deep darkness about this [the book] and besides this they have other practices which they continue to practice.

bal qulūbuhum fī ghamratin min hādhā walahum aʿmālun min dūni dhālika hum lahā ʿāmilūn

حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَاۤ أَخَذۡنَا مُتۡرَفِیهِم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمۡ یَجۡءَرُونَ ۝٦٤

Until when We seized those who were affluent among them with the punishment, Lo! They are imploring.

ḥattā idhā akhadhnā mut'rafīhim bil-ʿadhābi idhā hum yajarūn

لَا تَجۡءَرُوا۟ ٱلۡیَوۡمَۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ ۝٦٥

[It will be said to them], “Do not implore today. Truly you will not be given a help against Us.”

lā tajarū l-yawma innakum minnā lā tunṣarūn

قَدۡ كَانَتۡ ءَایَـٰتِی تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡكُمۡ فَكُنتُمۡ عَلَىٰۤ أَعۡقَـٰبِكُمۡ تَنكِصُونَ ۝٦٦

Indeed My signs used to be related to you but you used to turn back on your heels.

qad kānat āyātī tut'lā ʿalaykum fakuntum ʿalā aʿqābikum tankiṣūn

مُسۡتَكۡبِرِینَ بِهِۦ سَـٰمِرࣰا تَهۡجُرُونَ ۝٦٧

Holding yourself arrogant against it [the book] you continue to spend your nights in idle talk thereby abandoning [the book].

mus'takbirīna bihi sāmiran tahjurūn

أَفَلَمۡ یَدَّبَّرُوا۟ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ أَمۡ جَاۤءَهُم مَّا لَمۡ یَأۡتِ ءَابَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٦٨

Do they not truly appreciate the word or is it that something has come to them that never came to their forefathers?

afalam yaddabbarū l-qawla am jāahum mā lam yati ābāahumu l-awalīn

أَمۡ لَمۡ یَعۡرِفُوا۟ رَسُولَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ ۝٦٩

Or is it that they have not recognized their messenger so they are in denial of him?

am lam yaʿrifū rasūlahum fahum lahu munkirūn

أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ بِهِۦ جِنَّةُۢۚ بَلۡ جَاۤءَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لِلۡحَقِّ كَـٰرِهُونَ ۝٧٠

Or do they say that he is possessed? Nay he has come to them with the truth but most of them are averse to the truth.

am yaqūlūna bihi jinnatun bal jāahum bil-ḥaqi wa-aktharuhum lil'ḥaqqi kārihūn

وَلَوِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلۡحَقُّ أَهۡوَاۤءَهُمۡ لَفَسَدَتِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَن فِیهِنَّۚ بَلۡ أَتَیۡنَـٰهُم بِذِكۡرِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ عَن ذِكۡرِهِم مُّعۡرِضُونَ ۝٧١

Had the truth followed their vain desires, most certainly the heavens and the earth and whosoever is in them would have fallen in disorder. Nay We have brought unto them their remembrance but they have turned away [with arrogance] from their remembrance.

walawi ittabaʿa l-ḥaqu ahwāahum lafasadati l-samāwātu wal-arḍu waman fīhinna bal ataynāhum bidhik'rihim fahum ʿan dhik'rihim muʿ'riḍūn

أَمۡ تَسۡءَلُهُمۡ خَرۡجࣰا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَیۡرࣱۖ وَهُوَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰزِقِینَ ۝٧٢

Or do you ask them for any remuneration? Surely the remuneration of your Lord is best and He is the best of those who give sustenance.

am tasaluhum kharjan fakharāju rabbika khayrun wahuwa khayru l-rāziqīn

وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدۡعُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٧٣

And Lo! You surely are calling them to a most upright way.

wa-innaka latadʿūhum ilā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi

وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ عَنِ ٱلصِّرَ ٰطِ لَنَـٰكِبُونَ ۝٧٤

And truly those who do not believe in the hereafter are going to depart from the way.

wa-inna alladhīna lā yu'minūna bil-ākhirati ʿani l-ṣirāṭi lanākibūn

۞ وَلَوۡ رَحِمۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَكَشَفۡنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرࣲّ لَّلَجُّوا۟ فِی طُغۡیَـٰنِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝٧٥

Even if We had mercy on them and We had removed from them that which afflicted them, they would still have obstinately persisted in their transgression wandering about blindly.

walaw raḥim'nāhum wakashafnā mā bihim min ḍurrin lalajjū fī ṭugh'yānihim yaʿmahūn

وَلَقَدۡ أَخَذۡنَـٰهُم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ فَمَا ٱسۡتَكَانُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمۡ وَمَا یَتَضَرَّعُونَ ۝٧٦

And We did indeed seize them with the punishment but they did not humble themselves for their Lord nor did they plead with Him.

walaqad akhadhnāhum bil-ʿadhābi famā is'takānū lirabbihim wamā yataḍarraʿūn

حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم بَابࣰا ذَا عَذَابࣲ شَدِیدٍ إِذَا هُمۡ فِیهِ مُبۡلِسُونَ ۝٧٧

Until when We open upon them a door of a mighty punishment, behold! They are therein in absolute despair.

ḥattā idhā fataḥnā ʿalayhim bāban dhā ʿadhābin shadīdin idhā hum fīhi mub'lisūn

5 Polytheism is self-condemned

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡءِدَةَۚ قَلِیلࣰا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٧٨

He it is who has raised for you the hearing, the sight and the perception of the heart. How little is the gratitude that you offer.

wahuwa alladhī ansha-a lakumu l-samʿa wal-abṣāra wal-afidata qalīlan mā tashkurūn

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی ذَرَأَكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ ۝٧٩

And it is He who has caused you to proliferate in the earth and it is He unto Whom you shall be gathered.

wahuwa alladhī dhara-akum fī l-arḍi wa-ilayhi tuḥ'sharūn

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی یُحۡیِۦ وَیُمِیتُ وَلَهُ ٱخۡتِلَـٰفُ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٨٠

And it is He who gives life and causes death and for Him is the alternation of the night and of the day. Will you not then understand?

wahuwa alladhī yuḥ'yī wayumītu walahu ikh'tilāfu al-layli wal-nahāri afalā taʿqilūn

بَلۡ قَالُوا۟ مِثۡلَ مَا قَالَ ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ ۝٨١

Rather they said the like of that which was said by people before them.

bal qālū mith'la mā qāla l-awalūn

قَالُوۤا۟ أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ ۝٨٢

They said, “What! If we died and we were dust and bones, are we truly going to be raised?

qālū a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamabʿūthūn

لَقَدۡ وُعِدۡنَا نَحۡنُ وَءَابَاۤؤُنَا هَـٰذَا مِن قَبۡلُ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّاۤ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٨٣

Indeed we were promised this and so were our fathers aforetime but this is nothing but the tales of the people of the past.”

laqad wuʿid'nā naḥnu waābāunā hādhā min qablu in hādhā illā asāṭīru l-awalīn

قُل لِّمَنِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَن فِیهَاۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٨٤

Say, “For whom is the earth and whosoever is in it if you do know?”

qul limani l-arḍu waman fīhā in kuntum taʿlamūn

سَیَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٨٥

They will say, “For Allah.” Say, “Will you then not remember?”

sayaqūlūna lillahi qul afalā tadhakkarūn

قُلۡ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ ٱلسَّبۡعِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٨٦

Say, “Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the magnificent throne?”

qul man rabbu l-samāwāti l-sabʿi warabbu l-ʿarshi l-ʿaẓīm

سَیَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٨٧

They will say, “For Allah.” Say, “Will you not then revere [Him]?”

sayaqūlūna lillahi qul afalā tattaqūn

قُلۡ مَنۢ بِیَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ وَهُوَ یُجِیرُ وَلَا یُجَارُ عَلَیۡهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٨٨

Say, “Who is it in whose hand rests the inner dominion of everything and who can give refuge [against anyone else] but none can give refuge [to anyone else] against Him if you do know?”

qul man biyadihi malakūtu kulli shayin wahuwa yujīru walā yujāru ʿalayhi in kuntum taʿlamūn

سَیَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسۡحَرُونَ ۝٨٩

They will say, “For Allah.” Say, “How then could you be spellbound?”

sayaqūlūna lillahi qul fa-annā tus'ḥarūn

بَلۡ أَتَیۡنَـٰهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝٩٠

Nay! We have brought unto them the truth but truly they are indeed liars.

bal ataynāhum bil-ḥaqi wa-innahum lakādhibūn

مَا ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِن وَلَدࣲ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُۥ مِنۡ إِلَـٰهٍۚ إِذࣰا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَـٰهِۭ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝٩١

Allah has not taken any son [for Himself] nor is there any deity with Him for surely then each deity would appropriate unto himself that which he had created and some of them certainly will over power others. Glorified be Allah from all that they attribute to Him.

mā ittakhadha l-lahu min waladin wamā kāna maʿahu min ilāhin idhan ladhahaba kullu ilāhin bimā khalaqa walaʿalā baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin sub'ḥāna l-lahi ʿammā yaṣifūn

عَـٰلِمِ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٩٢

Knower of that which is hidden and of that which is witnessed. Far exalted is He above all that they ascribe as partners to Him.

qul rabbi immā turiyannī mā yūʿadūn

6 Regrets of the Wicked

قُل رَّبِّ إِمَّا تُرِیَنِّی مَا یُوعَدُونَ ۝٩٣

Say, “O my Lord, if you do show me that which they are promised [in my life in this world]

Qul rabbi imma turiyannee ma yooAAadoona

رَبِّ فَلَا تَجۡعَلۡنِی فِی ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٩٤

Then my Lord, do not put me with the people who wrong their own souls”

rabbi falā tajʿalnī fī l-qawmi l-ẓālimīn

وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰۤ أَن نُّرِیَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمۡ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ ۝٩٥

And We most certainly are able to show you [while you are alive in this world] that which We promise them.

wa-innā ʿalā an nuriyaka mā naʿiduhum laqādirūn

ٱدۡفَعۡ بِٱلَّتِی هِیَ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلسَّیِّئَةَۚ نَحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا یَصِفُونَ ۝٩٦

Repel the evil with that which is most excellent. We truly know that which they describe with their tongue.

id'faʿ bi-allatī hiya aḥsanu l-sayi-ata naḥnu aʿlamu bimā yaṣifūn

وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنۡ هَمَزَ ٰتِ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینِ ۝٩٧

And say, “O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from the promptings of the devils

waqul rabbi aʿūdhu bika min hamazāti l-shayāṭīn

وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن یَحۡضُرُونِ ۝٩٨

And I seek refuge with You, O my Lord, lest they be present with me.”

wa-aʿūdhu bika rabbi an yaḥḍurūn

حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱرۡجِعُونِ ۝٩٩

Until such a time when the death will come to one of them, then he will say, “O my Lord! Send me back [in the earth].”

ḥattā idhā jāa aḥadahumu l-mawtu qāla rabbi ir'jiʿūn

لَعَلِّیۤ أَعۡمَلُ صَـٰلِحࣰا فِیمَا تَرَكۡتُۚ كَلَّاۤۚ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَاۤىِٕلُهَاۖ وَمِن وَرَاۤىِٕهِم بَرۡزَخٌ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝١٠٠

Perhaps that I may do righteous deeds within the time which is given to me as a delay. Nay! That is just a word that he is saying it [he will not do it even if he is sent back] and behind them there is a boundary until the day that they will be resurrected.

laʿallī aʿmalu ṣāliḥan fīmā taraktu kallā innahā kalimatun huwa qāiluhā wamin warāihim barzakhun ilā yawmi yub'ʿathūn

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِی ٱلصُّورِ فَلَاۤ أَنسَابَ بَیۡنَهُمۡ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَلَا یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ ۝١٠١

And when the trumpet is blown then there will be no ties of family between them on that day nor will they be asking about one another [out of concern].

fa-idhā nufikha fī l-ṣūri falā ansāba baynahum yawma-idhin walā yatasāalūn

فَمَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَ ٰزِینُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ ۝١٠٢

Whosoever’s balance [of good deeds] is heavy, it is they who will be the prosperers.

faman thaqulat mawāzīnuhu fa-ulāika humu l-muf'liḥūn

وَمَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَ ٰزِینُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ خَسِرُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ فِی جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝١٠٣

And whosoever’s balance [of good deeds] is light, it is they who have put their own souls in loss and will abide forever in the hellfire.

waman khaffat mawāzīnuhu fa-ulāika alladhīna khasirū anfusahum fī jahannama khālidūn

تَلۡفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَهُمۡ فِیهَا كَـٰلِحُونَ ۝١٠٤

The fire will scorch their faces and they will look grimly therein.

talfaḥu wujūhahumu l-nāru wahum fīhā kāliḥūn

أَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ ءَایَـٰتِی تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡكُمۡ فَكُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝١٠٥

Were not my signs related to you but you used to belie them.

alam takun āyātī tut'lā ʿalaykum fakuntum bihā tukadhibūn

قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتۡ عَلَیۡنَا شِقۡوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوۡمࣰا ضَاۤلِّینَ ۝١٠٦

They will say, “O our Lord! Our ill luck had overtaken us and we were a people who had gone astray.

qālū rabbanā ghalabat ʿalaynā shiq'watunā wakunnā qawman ḍāllīn

رَبَّنَاۤ أَخۡرِجۡنَا مِنۡهَا فَإِنۡ عُدۡنَا فَإِنَّا ظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝١٠٧

O our Lord! Take us out of it [the hell fire] and if we return back to our former ways, then it will be us who will have done wrong to our own souls.

rabbanā akhrij'nā min'hā fa-in ʿud'nā fa-innā ẓālimūn

قَالَ ٱخۡسَءُوا۟ فِیهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ ۝١٠٨

He will say, “Be there in abject and vile and do not speak to Me.”

qāla ikh'saū fīhā walā tukallimūn

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِیقࣱ مِّنۡ عِبَادِی یَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَاۤ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا وَٱرۡحَمۡنَا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰحِمِینَ ۝١٠٩

Indeed there used to be a group of my slaves who used to say, “O our Lord, we believe so forgive us and have mercy on us, for You truly are the best of those who are merciful.”

innahu kāna farīqun min ʿibādī yaqūlūna rabbanā āmannā fa-igh'fir lanā wa-ir'ḥamnā wa-anta khayru l-rāḥimīn

فَٱتَّخَذۡتُمُوهُمۡ سِخۡرِیًّا حَتَّىٰۤ أَنسَوۡكُمۡ ذِكۡرِی وَكُنتُم مِّنۡهُمۡ تَضۡحَكُونَ ۝١١٠

But you took them for a jest so much so that they made you forget My remembrance and you used to laugh at them.

fa-ittakhadhtumūhum sikh'riyyan ḥattā ansawkum dhik'rī wakuntum min'hum taḍḥakūn

إِنِّی جَزَیۡتُهُمُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوۤا۟ أَنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡفَاۤىِٕزُونَ ۝١١١

Truly I have rewarded them for what they were patient, that today they are the successful ones.

innī jazaytuhumu l-yawma bimā ṣabarū annahum humu l-fāizūn

قَـٰلَ كَمۡ لَبِثۡتُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ عَدَدَ سِنِینَ ۝١١٢

He will say, “How many numbers of years did you stay in the earth?”

qāla kam labith'tum fī l-arḍi ʿadada sinīn

قَالُوا۟ لَبِثۡنَا یَوۡمًا أَوۡ بَعۡضَ یَوۡمࣲ فَسۡءَلِ ٱلۡعَاۤدِّینَ ۝١١٣

They will say, “We stayed a day or part of a day, ask those who know how to count.”

qālū labith'nā yawman aw baʿḍa yawmin fasali l-ʿādīn

قَـٰلَ إِن لَّبِثۡتُمۡ إِلَّا قَلِیلࣰاۖ لَّوۡ أَنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١١٤

He will say, “You stayed only a little only if you did know.

qāla in labith'tum illā qalīlan law annakum kuntum taʿlamūn

أَفَحَسِبۡتُمۡ أَنَّمَا خَلَقۡنَـٰكُمۡ عَبَثࣰا وَأَنَّكُمۡ إِلَیۡنَا لَا تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝١١٥

Did you then think that We only created you for sport and that you will not be brought back to Us?”

afaḥasib'tum annamā khalaqnākum ʿabathan wa-annakum ilaynā lā tur'jaʿūn

فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡكَرِیمِ ۝١١٦

Therefore exalted is Allah, the King, the Truth. There is no deity save He. Lord of the gracious throne.

fataʿālā l-lahu l-maliku l-ḥaqu lā ilāha illā huwa rabbu l-ʿarshi l-karīm

وَمَن یَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرۡهَـٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ ۝١١٧

And whoever invokes any other deity along with Allah, he has no proof thereby and then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Truly the disbelievers will not prosper.

waman yadʿu maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara lā bur'hāna lahu bihi fa-innamā ḥisābuhu ʿinda rabbihi innahu lā yuf'liḥu l-kāfirūn

وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ وَٱرۡحَمۡ وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰحِمِینَ ۝١١٨

And say, “O my Lord! Forgive and bestow mercy, for You truly are the best of those who are merciful.”

waqul rabbi igh'fir wa-ir'ḥam wa-anta khayru l-rāḥimīn
