1 Truth of the Qur'an

وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ ٱلۡحَكِیمِ ۝٢

By the wise Qur´an.

wal-qur'āni l-ḥakīm

إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٣

You are one of the messengers.

innaka lamina l-mur'salīn

عَلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٤

On a straight path.

tanzīla l-ʿazīzi l-raḥīm

تَنزِیلَ ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ ۝٥

A revelation from the mighty and merciful.

Tanzeela alAAazeezi alrraheemi

لِتُنذِرَ قَوۡمࣰا مَّاۤ أُنذِرَ ءَابَاۤؤُهُمۡ فَهُمۡ غَـٰفِلُونَ ۝٦

To warn people whose fathers had not been warned and they were careless.

litundhira qawman mā undhira ābāuhum fahum ghāfilūn

لَقَدۡ حَقَّ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ عَلَىٰۤ أَكۡثَرِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٧

The word has already come to pass against most of them, so they don´t believe.

laqad ḥaqqa l-qawlu ʿalā aktharihim fahum lā yu'minūn

إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَا فِیۤ أَعۡنَـٰقِهِمۡ أَغۡلَـٰلࣰا فَهِیَ إِلَى ٱلۡأَذۡقَانِ فَهُم مُّقۡمَحُونَ ۝٨

For We have placed cuffs around their necks and they reach up to their chins so they are stiffened.

innā jaʿalnā fī aʿnāqihim aghlālan fahiya ilā l-adhqāni fahum muq'maḥūn

وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنۢ بَیۡنِ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ سَدࣰّا وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِمۡ سَدࣰّا فَأَغۡشَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٩

And We placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and sealed them in, so they don´t see.

wajaʿalnā min bayni aydīhim saddan wamin khalfihim saddan fa-aghshaynāhum fahum lā yub'ṣirūn

وَسَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَأَنذَرۡتَهُمۡ أَمۡ لَمۡ تُنذِرۡهُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٠

It makes no difference to them whether you warn them or warn them not, they will not believe.

wasawāon ʿalayhim a-andhartahum am lam tundhir'hum lā yu'minūn

إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَخَشِیَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنَ بِٱلۡغَیۡبِۖ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِمَغۡفِرَةࣲ وَأَجۡرࣲ كَرِیمٍ ۝١١

For you warn only who follows the reminder and fears the Merciful in secret, so give him good news of forgiveness and a generous reward.

innamā tundhiru mani ittabaʿa l-dhik'ra wakhashiya l-raḥmāna bil-ghaybi fabashir'hu bimaghfiratin wa-ajrin karīmi

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نُحۡیِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ وَنَكۡتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا۟ وَءَاثَـٰرَهُمۡۚ وَكُلَّ شَیۡءٍ أَحۡصَیۡنَـٰهُ فِیۤ إِمَامࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٢

For We revive the dead and record what they have sent ahead and their traces, and We list everything in a clear ledger.

innā naḥnu nuḥ'yī l-mawtā wanaktubu mā qaddamū waāthārahum wakulla shayin aḥṣaynāhu fī imāmin mubīni

2 Confirmation of the Truth

وَٱضۡرِبۡ لَهُم مَّثَلًا أَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةِ إِذۡ جَاۤءَهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٣

And coin for them the likeness of the inhabitants of the town when the messengers came to it.

wa-iḍ'rib lahum mathalan aṣḥāba l-qaryati idh jāahā l-mur'salūn

إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِمُ ٱثۡنَیۡنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزۡنَا بِثَالِثࣲ فَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّاۤ إِلَیۡكُم مُّرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٤

When We sent two to them but they denied them, so We added a third, and they said: we have been sent to you.

idh arsalnā ilayhimu ith'nayni fakadhabūhumā faʿazzaznā bithālithin faqālū innā ilaykum mur'salūn

قَالُوا۟ مَاۤ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا وَمَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ مِن شَیۡءٍ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا تَكۡذِبُونَ ۝١٥

They said, you are only humans like us, and the Merciful has not sent anything, for you are only lying.

qālū mā antum illā basharun mith'lunā wamā anzala l-raḥmānu min shayin in antum illā takdhibūn

قَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا یَعۡلَمُ إِنَّاۤ إِلَیۡكُمۡ لَمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٦

They said: our Lord knows that we were indeed sent to you.

qālū rabbunā yaʿlamu innā ilaykum lamur'salūn

وَمَا عَلَیۡنَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٧

And our duty is only to convey clearly.

wamā ʿalaynā illā l-balāghu l-mubīn

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا تَطَیَّرۡنَا بِكُمۡۖ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهُوا۟ لَنَرۡجُمَنَّكُمۡ وَلَیَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝١٨

They said: we see a bad omen in you, if you do not stop we will stone you and a painful punishment from us will afflict you.

qālū innā taṭayyarnā bikum la-in lam tantahū lanarjumannakum walayamassannakum minnā ʿadhābun alīmu

قَالُوا۟ طَـٰۤىِٕرُكُم مَّعَكُمۡ أَىِٕن ذُكِّرۡتُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ مُّسۡرِفُونَ ۝١٩

They said: your bad omen is with you once you have been reminded, but you are wasteful people.

qālū ṭāirukum maʿakum a-in dhukkir'tum bal antum qawmun mus'rifūn

وَجَاۤءَ مِنۡ أَقۡصَا ٱلۡمَدِینَةِ رَجُلࣱ یَسۡعَىٰ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٢٠

And a man came running from the far end of the town saying: oh my people, follow the messengers.

wajāa min aqṣā l-madīnati rajulun yasʿā qāla yāqawmi ittabiʿū l-mur'salīn

ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مَن لَّا یَسۡءَلُكُمۡ أَجۡرࣰا وَهُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ ۝٢١

Follow those who do not ask you for a reward and are guided.

ittabiʿū man lā yasalukum ajran wahum muh'tadūn

وَمَا لِیَ لَاۤ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِی فَطَرَنِی وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٢٢

And how should I not serve the One who originated me and you return to Him?

wamā liya lā aʿbudu alladhī faṭaranī wa-ilayhi tur'jaʿūn

ءَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِۦۤ ءَالِهَةً إِن یُرِدۡنِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ بِضُرࣲّ لَّا تُغۡنِ عَنِّی شَفَـٰعَتُهُمۡ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یُنقِذُونِ ۝٢٣

Should I take gods besides Him? If the Merciful wants harm for me, their intercession does not benefit me the least and they don´t save me.

a-attakhidhu min dūnihi ālihatan in yurid'ni l-raḥmānu biḍurrin lā tugh'ni ʿannī shafāʿatuhum shayan walā yunqidhūn

إِنِّیۤ إِذࣰا لَّفِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٢٤

I would then be in clear error.

innī idhan lafī ḍalālin mubīni

إِنِّیۤ ءَامَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمۡ فَٱسۡمَعُونِ ۝٢٥

I surely believe in your Lord, so listen to me.

innī āmantu birabbikum fa-is'maʿūn

قِیلَ ٱدۡخُلِ ٱلۡجَنَّةَۖ قَالَ یَـٰلَیۡتَ قَوۡمِی یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٢٦

He was told: enter the garden (of paradise); he said: if only my people knew.

qīla ud'khuli l-janata qāla yālayta qawmī yaʿlamūn

بِمَا غَفَرَ لِی رَبِّی وَجَعَلَنِی مِنَ ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِینَ ۝٢٧

How my Lord has forgiven me and made me of the honoured.

bimā ghafara lī rabbī wajaʿalanī mina l-muk'ramīn

۞ وَمَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ مِن جُندࣲ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِینَ ۝٢٨

And We did not send soldiers from the sky against his people after him, and We never send them.

wamā anzalnā ʿalā qawmihi min baʿdihi min jundin mina l-samāi wamā kunnā munzilīn

إِن كَانَتۡ إِلَّا صَیۡحَةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ فَإِذَا هُمۡ خَـٰمِدُونَ ۝٢٩

For it was only a single scream and they were extinct.

in kānat illā ṣayḥatan wāḥidatan fa-idhā hum khāmidūn

یَـٰحَسۡرَةً عَلَى ٱلۡعِبَادِۚ مَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٣٠

What loss for My servants: never does a messenger reach them but they make fun of him.

yāḥasratan ʿalā l-ʿibādi mā yatīhim min rasūlin illā kānū bihi yastahziūn

أَلَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمۡ إِلَیۡهِمۡ لَا یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٣١

Do they not see how many towns We destroyed before them and that they do not return to them?

alam yaraw kam ahlaknā qablahum mina l-qurūni annahum ilayhim lā yarjiʿūn

وَإِن كُلࣱّ لَّمَّا جَمِیعࣱ لَّدَیۡنَا مُحۡضَرُونَ ۝٣٢

And that they will altogether be presented before Us?

wa-in kullun lammā jamīʿun ladaynā muḥ'ḍarūn

3 Signs of the Truth

وَءَایَةࣱ لَّهُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ ٱلۡمَیۡتَةُ أَحۡیَیۡنَـٰهَا وَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مِنۡهَا حَبࣰّا فَمِنۡهُ یَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٣٣

And a sign for them is the dead earth. We revive it and grow from it seed crops from which they eat.

waāyatun lahumu l-arḍu l-maytatu aḥyaynāhā wa-akhrajnā min'hā ḥabban famin'hu yakulūn

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِیهَا جَنَّـٰتࣲ مِّن نَّخِیلࣲ وَأَعۡنَـٰبࣲ وَفَجَّرۡنَا فِیهَا مِنَ ٱلۡعُیُونِ ۝٣٤

And We place gardens of palm trees and grapes on it and make springs gush out from it.

wajaʿalnā fīhā jannātin min nakhīlin wa-aʿnābin wafajjarnā fīhā mina l-ʿuyūn

لِیَأۡكُلُوا۟ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦ وَمَا عَمِلَتۡهُ أَیۡدِیهِمۡۚ أَفَلَا یَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٣٥

So that they eat from its fruit whilst they did not produce it themselves. Will they not be grateful?

liyakulū min thamarihi wamā ʿamilathu aydīhim afalā yashkurūn

سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلۡأَزۡوَ ٰجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمِنۡ أَنفُسِهِمۡ وَمِمَّا لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٦

Glorified is He who created all pairs of that which the earth grows and of themselves and of what they do not (yet) know.

sub'ḥāna alladhī khalaqa l-azwāja kullahā mimmā tunbitu l-arḍu wamin anfusihim wamimmā lā yaʿlamūn

وَءَایَةࣱ لَّهُمُ ٱلَّیۡلُ نَسۡلَخُ مِنۡهُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظۡلِمُونَ ۝٣٧

And a sign for them is the night. We remove the day from it and they are in darkness.

waāyatun lahumu al-laylu naslakhu min'hu l-nahāra fa-idhā hum muẓ'limūn

وَٱلشَّمۡسُ تَجۡرِی لِمُسۡتَقَرࣲّ لَّهَاۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ تَقۡدِیرُ ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلۡعَلِیمِ ۝٣٨

And the sun travels to its destination, that is the arrangement of the mighty and knowing.

wal-shamsu tajrī limus'taqarrin lahā dhālika taqdīru l-ʿazīzi l-ʿalīm

وَٱلۡقَمَرَ قَدَّرۡنَـٰهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَٱلۡعُرۡجُونِ ٱلۡقَدِیمِ ۝٣٩

And for the moon We have arranged phases until it returns like a withered palm leaf.

wal-qamara qaddarnāhu manāzila ḥattā ʿāda kal-ʿur'jūni l-qadīm

لَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ یَنۢبَغِی لَهَاۤ أَن تُدۡرِكَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ وَلَا ٱلَّیۡلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّهَارِۚ وَكُلࣱّ فِی فَلَكࣲ یَسۡبَحُونَ ۝٤٠

It is not befitting for the sun to overtake the moon nor for the night to precede the day, and each travels in an orbit.

lā l-shamsu yanbaghī lahā an tud'rika l-qamara walā al-laylu sābiqu l-nahāri wakullun fī falakin yasbaḥūn

وَءَایَةࣱ لَّهُمۡ أَنَّا حَمَلۡنَا ذُرِّیَّتَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ ۝٤١

And a sign for them is that We carried their descendants on the laden ship.

waāyatun lahum annā ḥamalnā dhurriyyatahum fī l-ful'ki l-mashḥūn

وَخَلَقۡنَا لَهُم مِّن مِّثۡلِهِۦ مَا یَرۡكَبُونَ ۝٤٢

And created something similar for them which they board.

wakhalaqnā lahum min mith'lihi mā yarkabūn

وَإِن نَّشَأۡ نُغۡرِقۡهُمۡ فَلَا صَرِیخَ لَهُمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یُنقَذُونَ ۝٤٣

And if We please, We drown them, and there will be no one to call for help and they will not be saved.

wa-in nasha nugh'riq'hum falā ṣarīkha lahum walā hum yunqadhūn

إِلَّا رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنَّا وَمَتَـٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝٤٤

Except by a mercy from Us and as a provision for a while.

illā raḥmatan minnā wamatāʿan ilā ḥīni

وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِیكُمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ ۝٤٥

And when they are told: beware of what is ahead of you and what is behind you so that you find mercy;

wa-idhā qīla lahumu ittaqū mā bayna aydīkum wamā khalfakum laʿallakum tur'ḥamūn

وَمَا تَأۡتِیهِم مِّنۡ ءَایَةࣲ مِّنۡ ءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِینَ ۝٤٦

And whenever one of the signs of their Lord comes to them, they tend to turn away from it.

wamā tatīhim min āyatin min āyāti rabbihim illā kānū ʿanhā muʿ'riḍīn

وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ أَنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ أَنُطۡعِمُ مَن لَّوۡ یَشَاۤءُ ٱللَّهُ أَطۡعَمَهُۥۤ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٤٧

And when they are told: spend of what Allah has provided you with, those who reject (the truth) say to those who believe: should we feed whom Allah would have fed if He pleased? You are surely in clear error.

wa-idhā qīla lahum anfiqū mimmā razaqakumu l-lahu qāla alladhīna kafarū lilladhīna āmanū anuṭ'ʿimu man law yashāu l-lahu aṭʿamahu in antum illā fī ḍalālin mubīni

وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٤٨

And they say: when will this promise happen if you are truthful?

wayaqūlūna matā hādhā l-waʿdu in kuntum ṣādiqīn

مَا یَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَیۡحَةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ تَأۡخُذُهُمۡ وَهُمۡ یَخِصِّمُونَ ۝٤٩

They are only waiting for a single scream to overtake them, yet they argue.

mā yanẓurūna illā ṣayḥatan wāḥidatan takhudhuhum wahum yakhiṣṣimūn

فَلَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ تَوۡصِیَةࣰ وَلَاۤ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهِمۡ یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٥٠

Then they cannot raise a warning nor return to their families.

falā yastaṭīʿūna tawṣiyatan walā ilā ahlihim yarjiʿūn

4 Reward and Punishment

وَنُفِخَ فِی ٱلصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَجۡدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ یَنسِلُونَ ۝٥١

And the horn will be blown and they will stream to their Lord from the graves.

wanufikha fī l-ṣūri fa-idhā hum mina l-ajdāthi ilā rabbihim yansilūn

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَا مَنۢ بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرۡقَدِنَاۜۗ هَـٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ وَصَدَقَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝٥٢

They will say: woe to us, who has dispatched us from our resting place? This is what the Merciful did promise and the messengers were truthful.

qālū yāwaylanā man baʿathanā min marqadinā hādhā mā waʿada l-raḥmānu waṣadaqa l-mur'salūn

إِن كَانَتۡ إِلَّا صَیۡحَةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ فَإِذَا هُمۡ جَمِیعࣱ لَّدَیۡنَا مُحۡضَرُونَ ۝٥٣

For it was only a single scream and they all are presented before Us.

in kānat illā ṣayḥatan wāḥidatan fa-idhā hum jamīʿun ladaynā muḥ'ḍarūn

فَٱلۡیَوۡمَ لَا تُظۡلَمُ نَفۡسࣱ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٥٤

Then today no soul will be wronged the least and you will only be rewarded for what you did.

fal-yawma lā tuẓ'lamu nafsun shayan walā tuj'zawna illā mā kuntum taʿmalūn

إِنَّ أَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ فِی شُغُلࣲ فَـٰكِهُونَ ۝٥٥

The inhabitants of the garden will be happily busy today.

inna aṣḥāba l-janati l-yawma fī shughulin fākihūn

هُمۡ وَأَزۡوَ ٰجُهُمۡ فِی ظِلَـٰلٍ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَاۤىِٕكِ مُتَّكِءُونَ ۝٥٦

They and their partners will be reclining on couches in the shade.

hum wa-azwājuhum fī ẓilālin ʿalā l-arāiki muttakiūn

لَهُمۡ فِیهَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَلَهُم مَّا یَدَّعُونَ ۝٥٧

They will have fruit there and have whatever they ask for.

lahum fīhā fākihatun walahum mā yaddaʿūn

سَلَـٰمࣱ قَوۡلࣰا مِّن رَّبࣲّ رَّحِیمࣲ ۝٥٨

Peace offered by a merciful Lord.

salāmun qawlan min rabbin raḥīmi

وَٱمۡتَـٰزُوا۟ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ أَیُّهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٥٩

And keep away today oh sinners.

wa-im'tāzū l-yawma ayyuhā l-muj'rimūn

۞ أَلَمۡ أَعۡهَدۡ إِلَیۡكُمۡ یَـٰبَنِیۤ ءَادَمَ أَن لَّا تَعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمۡ عَدُوࣱّ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٦٠

Did I not take your promise, oh children of Adam, not to serve the devil, for he is a clear enemy to you?

alam aʿhad ilaykum yābanī ādama an lā taʿbudū l-shayṭāna innahu lakum ʿaduwwun mubīnu

وَأَنِ ٱعۡبُدُونِیۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطࣱ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣱ ۝٦١

And to serve Me, that is a straight path?

wa-ani uʿ'budūnī hādhā ṣirāṭun mus'taqīmu

وَلَقَدۡ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمۡ جِبِلࣰّا كَثِیرًاۖ أَفَلَمۡ تَكُونُوا۟ تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٢

And he had already led astray a large group of you, so did you not understand?

walaqad aḍalla minkum jibillan kathīran afalam takūnū taʿqilūn

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِی كُنتُمۡ تُوعَدُونَ ۝٦٣

This is hell which you were promised.

hādhihi jahannamu allatī kuntum tūʿadūn

ٱصۡلَوۡهَا ٱلۡیَوۡمَ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٦٤

Enter it today on account of having rejected (the truth).

iṣ'lawhā l-yawma bimā kuntum takfurūn

ٱلۡیَوۡمَ نَخۡتِمُ عَلَىٰۤ أَفۡوَ ٰهِهِمۡ وَتُكَلِّمُنَاۤ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَتَشۡهَدُ أَرۡجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٦٥

Today We seal their mouths, and their hands will talk to Us and their feet will give evidence of what they used to commit.

al-yawma nakhtimu ʿalā afwāhihim watukallimunā aydīhim watashhadu arjuluhum bimā kānū yaksibūn

وَلَوۡ نَشَاۤءُ لَطَمَسۡنَا عَلَىٰۤ أَعۡیُنِهِمۡ فَٱسۡتَبَقُوا۟ ٱلصِّرَ ٰطَ فَأَنَّىٰ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٦٦

And if We pleased We would have obliterated their eyesight, so they search for a path but how can they see?

walaw nashāu laṭamasnā ʿalā aʿyunihim fa-is'tabaqū l-ṣirāṭa fa-annā yub'ṣirūn

وَلَوۡ نَشَاۤءُ لَمَسَخۡنَـٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمۡ فَمَا ٱسۡتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مُضِیࣰّا وَلَا یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٦٧

And if We pleased We would have frozen them on the spot, so they could neither go forward nor back.

walaw nashāu lamasakhnāhum ʿalā makānatihim famā is'taṭāʿū muḍiyyan walā yarjiʿūn

5 The Resurrection

وَمَن نُّعَمِّرۡهُ نُنَكِّسۡهُ فِی ٱلۡخَلۡقِۚ أَفَلَا یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٨

And whomever We give long life, We reverse his development, so do they not understand?

waman nuʿammir'hu nunakkis'hu fī l-khalqi afalā yaʿqilūn

وَمَا عَلَّمۡنَـٰهُ ٱلشِّعۡرَ وَمَا یَنۢبَغِی لَهُۥۤۚ إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرࣱ وَقُرۡءَانࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٦٩

And We did not teach him poetry, nor would it befit him, for it is only a reminder and a clear reading (Qur´an).

wamā ʿallamnāhu l-shiʿ'ra wamā yanbaghī lahu in huwa illā dhik'run waqur'ānun mubīnu

لِّیُنذِرَ مَن كَانَ حَیࣰّا وَیَحِقَّ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٧٠

To warn whoever is alive and so that the word comes to pass against those who reject (the truth).

liyundhira man kāna ḥayyan wayaḥiqqa l-qawlu ʿalā l-kāfirīn

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ أَنَّا خَلَقۡنَا لَهُم مِّمَّا عَمِلَتۡ أَیۡدِینَاۤ أَنۡعَـٰمࣰا فَهُمۡ لَهَا مَـٰلِكُونَ ۝٧١

Do they not consider that We created for them from Our handiwork cattle, so they own it?

awalam yaraw annā khalaqnā lahum mimmā ʿamilat aydīnā anʿāman fahum lahā mālikūn

وَذَلَّلۡنَـٰهَا لَهُمۡ فَمِنۡهَا رَكُوبُهُمۡ وَمِنۡهَا یَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٧٢

And We made them submissive to them, and they are carried by them and they eat from them.

wadhallalnāhā lahum famin'hā rakūbuhum wamin'hā yakulūn

وَلَهُمۡ فِیهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ وَمَشَارِبُۚ أَفَلَا یَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٧٣

And they have benefits and drink from the, so are they not grateful?

walahum fīhā manāfiʿu wamashāribu afalā yashkurūn

وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةࣰ لَّعَلَّهُمۡ یُنصَرُونَ ۝٧٤

And they adopt gods besides Allah so they would help them.

wa-ittakhadhū min dūni l-lahi ālihatan laʿallahum yunṣarūn

لَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ نَصۡرَهُمۡ وَهُمۡ لَهُمۡ جُندࣱ مُّحۡضَرُونَ ۝٧٥

They cannot help them but they are ever ready to defend them.

lā yastaṭīʿūna naṣrahum wahum lahum jundun muḥ'ḍarūn

فَلَا یَحۡزُنكَ قَوۡلُهُمۡۘ إِنَّا نَعۡلَمُ مَا یُسِرُّونَ وَمَا یُعۡلِنُونَ ۝٧٦

So do not worry about what they say, for We know what they conceal and what they disclose.

falā yaḥzunka qawluhum innā naʿlamu mā yusirrūna wamā yuʿ'linūn

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقۡنَـٰهُ مِن نُّطۡفَةࣲ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِیمࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٧٧

Does man not see that We created him from a sperm, then he argues openly.

awalam yara l-insānu annā khalaqnāhu min nuṭ'fatin fa-idhā huwa khaṣīmun mubīnu

وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلࣰا وَنَسِیَ خَلۡقَهُۥۖ قَالَ مَن یُحۡیِ ٱلۡعِظَـٰمَ وَهِیَ رَمِیمࣱ ۝٧٨

And he coins a likeness for Us and forgets his creation; he says: who will revive the bones when they decayed?

waḍaraba lanā mathalan wanasiya khalqahu qāla man yuḥ'yī l-ʿiẓāma wahiya ramīmu

قُلۡ یُحۡیِیهَا ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنشَأَهَاۤ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةࣲۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلۡقٍ عَلِیمٌ ۝٧٩

Say: the One who brought them into existence the first time will revive them, and He knows all creation.

qul yuḥ'yīhā alladhī ansha-ahā awwala marratin wahuwa bikulli khalqin ʿalīmu

ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ ٱلۡأَخۡضَرِ نَارࣰا فَإِذَاۤ أَنتُم مِّنۡهُ تُوقِدُونَ ۝٨٠

The One who gave you fire from a green tree, so that you kindle with it.

alladhī jaʿala lakum mina l-shajari l-akhḍari nāran fa-idhā antum min'hu tūqidūn

أَوَ لَیۡسَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰۤ أَن یَخۡلُقَ مِثۡلَهُمۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ ٱلۡخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٨١

Is not the One who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them? For sure, He is the knowing creator.

awalaysa alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa biqādirin ʿalā an yakhluqa mith'lahum balā wahuwa l-khalāqu l-ʿalīm

إِنَّمَاۤ أَمۡرُهُۥۤ إِذَاۤ أَرَادَ شَیۡءًا أَن یَقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَیَكُونُ ۝٨٢

For His command whenever He wants something is to say to it: Be, then it is.

innamā amruhu idhā arāda shayan an yaqūla lahu kun fayakūn

فَسُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِی بِیَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٨٣

So glorified is the One in whose hand rests the kingdom of everything and to whom you will return.

fasub'ḥāna alladhī biyadihi malakūtu kulli shayin wa-ilayhi tur'jaʿūn
