Ya Sin, Ya-Seen — Syed Vickar Ahamed Translation

You can only warn such (a person) who follows the Reminder (the Warning in the Quran) and fears (Allah) Most Gracious (Rahman), Unseen (Bi'l-Ghiab): Therefore, give such (a person), good news of Forgiveness and of most kind (generous) Reward

innamā tundhiru mani ittabaʿa l-dhik'ra wakhashiya l-raḥmāna bil-ghaybi fabashir'hu bimaghfiratin wa-ajrin karīmi

36:12

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نُحۡیِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ وَنَكۡتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا۟ وَءَاثَـٰرَهُمۡۚ وَكُلَّ شَیۡءٍ أَحۡصَیۡنَـٰهُ فِیۤ إِمَامࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely, We shall give life to the dead, and We record what they send before (Judgment) and that which they leave behind (in life), and We have taken record of all things in a book (of evidence)

innā naḥnu nuḥ'yī l-mawtā wanaktubu mā qaddamū waāthārahum wakulla shayin aḥṣaynāhu fī imāmin mubīni

36:13

وَٱضۡرِبۡ لَهُم مَّثَلًا أَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةِ إِذۡ جَاۤءَهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And put forward to them (and tell them), by way of a story (with a warning), about the companions of the City (which was destroyed). When the messengers (of Allah) have come to it

wa-iḍ'rib lahum mathalan aṣḥāba l-qaryati idh jāahā l-mur'salūn

36:14

إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِمُ ٱثۡنَیۡنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزۡنَا بِثَالِثࣲ فَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّاۤ إِلَیۡكُم مُّرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

When We sent two (messengers) to them, they rejected them both: So, We strengthened them (the two) with a third: They (the three messengers) said, "Truly, we have been sent as messengers to you."

idh arsalnā ilayhimu ith'nayni fakadhabūhumā faʿazzaznā bithālithin faqālū innā ilaykum mur'salūn

36:15

قَالُوا۟ مَاۤ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا وَمَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ مِن شَیۡءٍ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا تَكۡذِبُونَ ۝١٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

The (people) said: "You are only beings like ourselves; And (Allah) the Most Gracious (Ar-Rahman) sends nothing to be made known (or disclosed): You do nothing but lie."

qālū mā antum illā basharun mith'lunā wamā anzala l-raḥmānu min shayin in antum illā takdhibūn

36:16

قَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا یَعۡلَمُ إِنَّاۤ إِلَیۡكُمۡ لَمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They (the three messengers) said: "Our Lord does know that we have been sent on a mission to you

qālū rabbunā yaʿlamu innā ilaykum lamur'salūn

36:17

وَمَا عَلَیۡنَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"And our duty is only to tell (you) the clear message."

wamā ʿalaynā illā l-balāghu l-mubīn

36:18

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا تَطَیَّرۡنَا بِكُمۡۖ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهُوا۟ لَنَرۡجُمَنَّكُمۡ وَلَیَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝١٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

The (people) said: "About us, we see an evil sign from you: If you do not stop, we will surely stone you, and a truly painful punishment will be given to you by us."

qālū innā taṭayyarnā bikum la-in lam tantahū lanarjumannakum walayamassannakum minnā ʿadhābun alīmu

36:19

قَالُوا۟ طَـٰۤىِٕرُكُم مَّعَكُمۡ أَىِٕن ذُكِّرۡتُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ مُّسۡرِفُونَ ۝١٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They (the prophets) said: "Your evil signs are with yourselves: (Consider this to be an early sign), that you are warned. No, but you are a people exceeding all limits!"

qālū ṭāirukum maʿakum a-in dhukkir'tum bal antum qawmun mus'rifūn

36:20

وَجَاۤءَ مِنۡ أَقۡصَا ٱلۡمَدِینَةِ رَجُلࣱ یَسۡعَىٰ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٢٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Then from a far part of the City, came running, a man saying, "O my People! Obey the messengers (of Allah)

wajāa min aqṣā l-madīnati rajulun yasʿā qāla yāqawmi ittabiʿū l-mur'salīn

36:21

ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مَن لَّا یَسۡءَلُكُمۡ أَجۡرࣰا وَهُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ ۝٢١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Obey those who do not ask any reward from you and (those) who have themselves received (Allah’s) Guidance

ittabiʿū man lā yasalukum ajran wahum muh'tadūn

36:22

وَمَا لِیَ لَاۤ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِی فَطَرَنِی وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٢٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"It is not reasonable for me if I did not serve Him Who created me, and to Whom you shall (all) be brought back

wamā liya lā aʿbudu alladhī faṭaranī wa-ilayhi tur'jaʿūn

36:23

ءَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِۦۤ ءَالِهَةً إِن یُرِدۡنِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ بِضُرࣲّ لَّا تُغۡنِ عَنِّی شَفَـٰعَتُهُمۡ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یُنقِذُونِ ۝٢٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Shall I take (other) gods besides Him? If (Allah, Ar-Rahman) Most Gracious should have some misfortune for me, their pleading for me will not be of any use and they cannot set me free

a-attakhidhu min dūnihi ālihatan in yurid'ni l-raḥmānu biḍurrin lā tugh'ni ʿannī shafāʿatuhum shayan walā yunqidhūn

36:24

إِنِّیۤ إِذࣰا لَّفِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٢٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"If I do so, truly I will be (making) a clear mistake

innī idhan lafī ḍalālin mubīni

36:25

إِنِّیۤ ءَامَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمۡ فَٱسۡمَعُونِ ۝٢٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"For me, I have faith in the Lord of you (all): Then, listen to me!"

innī āmantu birabbikum fa-is'maʿūn

36:26

قِیلَ ٱدۡخُلِ ٱلۡجَنَّةَۖ قَالَ یَـٰلَیۡتَ قَوۡمِی یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٢٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

It was said: "You enter the Garden." He said: "O me! If only my people knew (what I know)

qīla ud'khuli l-janata qāla yālayta qawmī yaʿlamūn

36:27

بِمَا غَفَرَ لِی رَبِّی وَجَعَلَنِی مِنَ ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِینَ ۝٢٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"That my Lord has given me Forgiveness and has given me (a place) among those held in honor!"

bimā ghafara lī rabbī wajaʿalanī mina l-muk'ramīn

36:28

۞ وَمَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ مِن جُندࣲ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِینَ ۝٢٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We did not send down any army from heaven against his people, after him. And it was not necessary for Us to do that

wamā anzalnā ʿalā qawmihi min baʿdihi min jundin mina l-samāi wamā kunnā munzilīn

36:29

إِن كَانَتۡ إِلَّا صَیۡحَةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ فَإِذَا هُمۡ خَـٰمِدُونَ ۝٢٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

It was not more than a single Mighty Blast (A powerful explosion), and look! They were (like ashes) put out (quiet) and silent

in kānat illā ṣayḥatan wāḥidatan fa-idhā hum khāmidūn

36:30

یَـٰحَسۡرَةً عَلَى ٱلۡعِبَادِۚ مَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٣٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Ah! Sorrow on the part (My) servants! There has not come one messenger (of Allah) to them that they have not made fun of him

yāḥasratan ʿalā l-ʿibādi mā yatīhim min rasūlin illā kānū bihi yastahziūn

36:31

أَلَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمۡ إِلَیۡهِمۡ لَا یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٣١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Do they not see how many of the generations before them We have destroyed? Verily, they (messengers) will not return to them

alam yaraw kam ahlaknā qablahum mina l-qurūni annahum ilayhim lā yarjiʿūn

36:32

وَإِن كُلࣱّ لَّمَّا جَمِیعࣱ لَّدَیۡنَا مُحۡضَرُونَ ۝٣٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

But each one of all of them (the generations)— Will be brought before Us (for Judgment)

wa-in kullun lammā jamīʿun ladaynā muḥ'ḍarūn

36:33

وَءَایَةࣱ لَّهُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ ٱلۡمَیۡتَةُ أَحۡیَیۡنَـٰهَا وَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مِنۡهَا حَبࣰّا فَمِنۡهُ یَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٣٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And a Sign for them is (that when) the earth is dead: We give it life, and produce grain from it, from which you do eat

waāyatun lahumu l-arḍu l-maytatu aḥyaynāhā wa-akhrajnā min'hā ḥabban famin'hu yakulūn

36:34

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِیهَا جَنَّـٰتࣲ مِّن نَّخِیلࣲ وَأَعۡنَـٰبࣲ وَفَجَّرۡنَا فِیهَا مِنَ ٱلۡعُیُونِ ۝٣٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We produce in it gardens with date trees and grapes (in vines that climb), and We cause springs to come from within it

wajaʿalnā fīhā jannātin min nakhīlin wa-aʿnābin wafajjarnā fīhā mina l-ʿuyūn

36:35

لِیَأۡكُلُوا۟ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦ وَمَا عَمِلَتۡهُ أَیۡدِیهِمۡۚ أَفَلَا یَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٣٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

That they may eat the fruits of this (gift from Allah) it was not their hands that made this (possible): Then will they not give thanks

liyakulū min thamarihi wamā ʿamilathu aydīhim afalā yashkurūn

36:36

سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلۡأَزۡوَ ٰجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمِنۡ أَنفُسِهِمۡ وَمِمَّا لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Glory to Allah, Who created all the things in pairs that the earth produces, and also their own kind (also created in pairs) and (other) things about whom they do not know

sub'ḥāna alladhī khalaqa l-azwāja kullahā mimmā tunbitu l-arḍu wamin anfusihim wamimmā lā yaʿlamūn

36:37

وَءَایَةࣱ لَّهُمُ ٱلَّیۡلُ نَسۡلَخُ مِنۡهُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظۡلِمُونَ ۝٣٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And a Sign for them is the night: We withdraw from it the day, and look, they are thrown in darkness

waāyatun lahumu al-laylu naslakhu min'hu l-nahāra fa-idhā hum muẓ'limūn

36:38

وَٱلشَّمۡسُ تَجۡرِی لِمُسۡتَقَرࣲّ لَّهَاۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ تَقۡدِیرُ ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلۡعَلِیمِ ۝٣٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And the sun moves along its way for a (length of) time set for him: That is the order of (Allah), the Almighty (Al-Aziz), the All Knowing (Al-Aleem)

wal-shamsu tajrī limus'taqarrin lahā dhālika taqdīru l-ʿazīzi l-ʿalīm

36:39

وَٱلۡقَمَرَ قَدَّرۡنَـٰهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَٱلۡعُرۡجُونِ ٱلۡقَدِیمِ ۝٣٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And the moon— We have measured for it stages (to travel) till it comes back like the old (and worn out like the) lower part of a (crescent, dried out) date stalk

wal-qamara qaddarnāhu manāzila ḥattā ʿāda kal-ʿur'jūni l-qadīm

36:40

لَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ یَنۢبَغِی لَهَاۤ أَن تُدۡرِكَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ وَلَا ٱلَّیۡلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّهَارِۚ وَكُلࣱّ فِی فَلَكࣲ یَسۡبَحُونَ ۝٤٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

It is not allowed for the sun to overtake the moon, nor can the night overtake the day: Each (can only) stay on in (its own) path (according to the Order of Allah)

lā l-shamsu yanbaghī lahā an tud'rika l-qamara walā al-laylu sābiqu l-nahāri wakullun fī falakin yasbaḥūn

36:41

وَءَایَةࣱ لَّهُمۡ أَنَّا حَمَلۡنَا ذُرِّیَّتَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ ۝٤١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And a Sign for them is that We held together their race (through the Flood) in the loaded Ark (of Nuh, or Noah)

waāyatun lahum annā ḥamalnā dhurriyyatahum fī l-ful'ki l-mashḥūn

36:42

وَخَلَقۡنَا لَهُم مِّن مِّثۡلِهِۦ مَا یَرۡكَبُونَ ۝٤٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We created for them similar (ships) on which they ride

wakhalaqnā lahum min mith'lihi mā yarkabūn

36:43

وَإِن نَّشَأۡ نُغۡرِقۡهُمۡ فَلَا صَرِیخَ لَهُمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یُنقَذُونَ ۝٤٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

If it was Our Will, We could drown them: (And) then there would be no helper (for them), nor could they be saved

wa-in nasha nugh'riq'hum falā ṣarīkha lahum walā hum yunqadhūn

36:44

إِلَّا رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنَّا وَمَتَـٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝٤٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Except as the part of Mercy from Us, and as a part of a few (worldly) things (for them) for a (little) while

illā raḥmatan minnā wamatāʿan ilā ḥīni

36:45

وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِیكُمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ ۝٤٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And when it is said to them: "You fear that which has happened before you, and that which will come after you, so that you may (also) receive (Allah's) Mercy," (then they do not listen and go away)

wa-idhā qīla lahumu ittaqū mā bayna aydīkum wamā khalfakum laʿallakum tur'ḥamūn

36:46

وَمَا تَأۡتِیهِم مِّنۡ ءَایَةࣲ مِّنۡ ءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِینَ ۝٤٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

From the many Signs (verses) of their Lord, there is not (even) one Sign (verse) that comes to them from which they do not turn away

wamā tatīhim min āyatin min āyāti rabbihim illā kānū ʿanhā muʿ'riḍīn

36:47

وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ أَنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ أَنُطۡعِمُ مَن لَّوۡ یَشَاۤءُ ٱللَّهُ أَطۡعَمَهُۥۤ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٤٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And when they are told: "You spend from (the many gifts) that Allah has given to you;" The unbelievers say to those who believe: "Shall we really feed those (people) whom, if Allah had so willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are in nowhere but in clear mistake."

wa-idhā qīla lahum anfiqū mimmā razaqakumu l-lahu qāla alladhīna kafarū lilladhīna āmanū anuṭ'ʿimu man law yashāu l-lahu aṭʿamahu in antum illā fī ḍalālin mubīni

36:48

وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٤٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And they also ask: "When will this promise (be fulfilled), if you are truthful?"

wayaqūlūna matā hādhā l-waʿdu in kuntum ṣādiqīn

36:49

مَا یَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَیۡحَةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ تَأۡخُذُهُمۡ وَهُمۡ یَخِصِّمُونَ ۝٤٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They will not (have to) wait for anything, except a single Blast (A powerful explosion), it will catch (and grip) them while they are still quarreling among themselves

mā yanẓurūna illā ṣayḥatan wāḥidatan takhudhuhum wahum yakhiṣṣimūn

36:50

فَلَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ تَوۡصِیَةࣰ وَلَاۤ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهِمۡ یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٥٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Then they will have no (chance by their own) will to settle (their affairs), and not (even) to return to their own people

falā yastaṭīʿūna tawṣiyatan walā ilā ahlihim yarjiʿūn

36:51

وَنُفِخَ فِی ٱلصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَجۡدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ یَنسِلُونَ ۝٥١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And the Trumpet (a very loud instrument) shall be sounded, when (you will) see! From the graves (men) will come quickly forward to their Lord

wanufikha fī l-ṣūri fa-idhā hum mina l-ajdāthi ilā rabbihim yansilūn

36:52

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَا مَنۢ بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرۡقَدِنَاۜۗ هَـٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ وَصَدَقَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝٥٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They will say: "Ah! Sorrow to us! Who has raised us up from our place of sleep?" (A voice will say:) "This is what (Allah, Ar-Rahman) the Most Gracious had promised, and the word of the messengers was (really) true?"

qālū yāwaylanā man baʿathanā min marqadinā hādhā mā waʿada l-raḥmānu waṣadaqa l-mur'salūn

36:53

إِن كَانَتۡ إِلَّا صَیۡحَةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ فَإِذَا هُمۡ جَمِیعࣱ لَّدَیۡنَا مُحۡضَرُونَ ۝٥٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

It will be no more than a single Blast, so behold! They will all be brought up before Us

in kānat illā ṣayḥatan wāḥidatan fa-idhā hum jamīʿun ladaynā muḥ'ḍarūn

36:54

فَٱلۡیَوۡمَ لَا تُظۡلَمُ نَفۡسࣱ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٥٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Then, on that Day, not (even) one soul will be unfairly treated in the least, and you shall be only given the (just) reward for your past actions

fal-yawma lā tuẓ'lamu nafsun shayan walā tuj'zawna illā mā kuntum taʿmalūn

36:55

إِنَّ أَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ فِی شُغُلࣲ فَـٰكِهُونَ ۝٥٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely, on that Day, the companions of the Gardens shall be busy and happy in everything that they do

inna aṣḥāba l-janati l-yawma fī shughulin fākihūn

36:56

هُمۡ وَأَزۡوَ ٰجُهُمۡ فِی ظِلَـٰلٍ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَاۤىِٕكِ مُتَّكِءُونَ ۝٥٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They and their wives will be in the (cool) shade of thick trees, resting on thrones (of dignity)

hum wa-azwājuhum fī ẓilālin ʿalā l-arāiki muttakiūn

36:57

لَهُمۡ فِیهَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَلَهُم مَّا یَدَّعُونَ ۝٥٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

There will be (every type of) fruit for them; They shall have whatever they want

lahum fīhā fākihatun walahum mā yaddaʿūn

36:58

سَلَـٰمࣱ قَوۡلࣰا مِّن رَّبࣲّ رَّحِیمࣲ ۝٥٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Their word will be), "Peace!" A Word (of greeting) from the Lord, Most Merciful (Raheem)

salāmun qawlan min rabbin raḥīmi

36:59

وَٱمۡتَـٰزُوا۟ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ أَیُّهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٥٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(To others, the word will be:) "And, you O criminals (the peoples of sin!) You get (yourselves) far away on this Day

wa-im'tāzū l-yawma ayyuhā l-muj'rimūn

36:60

۞ أَلَمۡ أَعۡهَدۡ إِلَیۡكُمۡ یَـٰبَنِیۤ ءَادَمَ أَن لَّا تَعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمۡ عَدُوࣱّ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٦٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

" Did I not command you? O! Children of Adam! That you should not worship Satan; Verily, he is to you an open enemy.—

alam aʿhad ilaykum yābanī ādama an lā taʿbudū l-shayṭāna innahu lakum ʿaduwwun mubīnu

36:61

وَأَنِ ٱعۡبُدُونِیۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطࣱ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣱ ۝٦١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"And that you should worship Me (Allah); For, that is the Straight Path

wa-ani uʿ'budūnī hādhā ṣirāṭun mus'taqīmu

36:62

وَلَقَدۡ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمۡ جِبِلࣰّا كَثِیرًاۖ أَفَلَمۡ تَكُونُوا۟ تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"And he (Satan) did take (you) a large number of you, (away towards evil). Then, did you not understand

walaqad aḍalla minkum jibillan kathīran afalam takūnū taʿqilūn

36:63

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِی كُنتُمۡ تُوعَدُونَ ۝٦٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"This is the Hell of which you were promised (many times)

hādhihi jahannamu allatī kuntum tūʿadūn

36:64

ٱصۡلَوۡهَا ٱلۡیَوۡمَ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٦٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"This Day, you burn (yourself in the Fire) because you rejected (the Truth many times)."

iṣ'lawhā l-yawma bimā kuntum takfurūn

36:65

ٱلۡیَوۡمَ نَخۡتِمُ عَلَىٰۤ أَفۡوَ ٰهِهِمۡ وَتُكَلِّمُنَاۤ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَتَشۡهَدُ أَرۡجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٦٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

This Day, We shall set a seal on the mouths. And their hands will speak to Us, and their legs will bear witness to all that they did

al-yawma nakhtimu ʿalā afwāhihim watukallimunā aydīhim watashhadu arjuluhum bimā kānū yaksibūn

36:66

وَلَوۡ نَشَاۤءُ لَطَمَسۡنَا عَلَىٰۤ أَعۡیُنِهِمۡ فَٱسۡتَبَقُوا۟ ٱلصِّرَ ٰطَ فَأَنَّىٰ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٦٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

If it was Our Will, We could surely have wiped out (blinded) their eyes; So that they would have run about searching for the Path, but (then again) how could they have seen

walaw nashāu laṭamasnā ʿalā aʿyunihim fa-is'tabaqū l-ṣirāṭa fa-annā yub'ṣirūn

36:67

وَلَوۡ نَشَاۤءُ لَمَسَخۡنَـٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمۡ فَمَا ٱسۡتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مُضِیࣰّا وَلَا یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٦٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And if it was Our Will, We could have transformed them (just to be) in their places; Then they would not have been able to forward (move about), and they could not have turned back

walaw nashāu lamasakhnāhum ʿalā makānatihim famā is'taṭāʿū muḍiyyan walā yarjiʿūn

36:68

وَمَن نُّعَمِّرۡهُ نُنَكِّسۡهُ فِی ٱلۡخَلۡقِۚ أَفَلَا یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And if We gave long life to anyone, We would have reversed him in creation (by making him weak after giving him strength) then will they not understand

waman nuʿammir'hu nunakkis'hu fī l-khalqi afalā yaʿqilūn

36:69

وَمَا عَلَّمۡنَـٰهُ ٱلشِّعۡرَ وَمَا یَنۢبَغِی لَهُۥۤۚ إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرࣱ وَقُرۡءَانࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٦٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We have not taught the (Prophet) poetry, and (poetry) is suited not for him: This is no less than a Message and Quran making things clear

wamā ʿallamnāhu l-shiʿ'ra wamā yanbaghī lahu in huwa illā dhik'run waqur'ānun mubīnu

36:70

لِّیُنذِرَ مَن كَانَ حَیࣰّا وَیَحِقَّ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٧٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(And also) that it may warn anyone (who is alive), and that its Word (Message) may be justified against the disbelievers

liyundhira man kāna ḥayyan wayaḥiqqa l-qawlu ʿalā l-kāfirīn

36:71

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ أَنَّا خَلَقۡنَا لَهُم مِّمَّا عَمِلَتۡ أَیۡدِینَاۤ أَنۡعَـٰمࣰا فَهُمۡ لَهَا مَـٰلِكُونَ ۝٧١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Do they not see that it is We Who have created from the (many) things that Our hands have fashioned for them— (Is also) cattle, for which they are the owners

awalam yaraw annā khalaqnā lahum mimmā ʿamilat aydīnā anʿāman fahum lahā mālikūn

36:72

وَذَلَّلۡنَـٰهَا لَهُمۡ فَمِنۡهَا رَكُوبُهُمۡ وَمِنۡهَا یَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٧٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We have subdued them (the cattle) for their (use)? Of them some are for riding, and some they eat

wadhallalnāhā lahum famin'hā rakūbuhum wamin'hā yakulūn

36:73

وَلَهُمۡ فِیهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ وَمَشَارِبُۚ أَفَلَا یَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٧٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And they have (other) benefits from them (the cattle), and they get (milk) to drink; Then will they not be thankful

walahum fīhā manāfiʿu wamashāribu afalā yashkurūn

36:74

وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةࣰ لَّعَلَّهُمۡ یُنصَرُونَ ۝٧٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And they take besides Allah, other false gods, (thinking) that they might be helped (by the false gods)

wa-ittakhadhū min dūni l-lahi ālihatan laʿallahum yunṣarūn

36:75

لَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ نَصۡرَهُمۡ وَهُمۡ لَهُمۡ جُندࣱ مُّحۡضَرُونَ ۝٧٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They (the gods) have not the power to help them: But they (the unbelievers) will be brought forward (for Judgment) as a (whole) group (to be punished)

lā yastaṭīʿūna naṣrahum wahum lahum jundun muḥ'ḍarūn

36:76

فَلَا یَحۡزُنكَ قَوۡلُهُمۡۘ إِنَّا نَعۡلَمُ مَا یُسِرُّونَ وَمَا یُعۡلِنُونَ ۝٧٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

So, do not let their (idle) talk, make you sad (O Prophet!). Surely, We know what they hide and what they say

falā yaḥzunka qawluhum innā naʿlamu mā yusirrūna wamā yuʿ'linūn

36:77

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقۡنَـٰهُ مِن نُّطۡفَةࣲ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِیمࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٧٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Does man not see that it is We Who created him from (a clot in the) sperm-ovary drop? Yet see! He (makes himself) an open enemy

awalam yara l-insānu annā khalaqnāhu min nuṭ'fatin fa-idhā huwa khaṣīmun mubīnu

36:78

وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلࣰا وَنَسِیَ خَلۡقَهُۥۖ قَالَ مَن یُحۡیِ ٱلۡعِظَـٰمَ وَهِیَ رَمِیمࣱ ۝٧٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And he puts forth (and invents) comparisons for Us, and forgets his own (true origin of) Creation: (And) he says: "Who can give life to the bones after they have become rotten and turned to dust?"

waḍaraba lanā mathalan wanasiya khalqahu qāla man yuḥ'yī l-ʿiẓāma wahiya ramīmu

36:79

قُلۡ یُحۡیِیهَا ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنشَأَهَاۤ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةࣲۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلۡقٍ عَلِیمٌ ۝٧٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Say: "He will give them (the bones) life (the One) Who created them for the first time! And He is All Knowing (Aleem) of every kind of creation

qul yuḥ'yīhā alladhī ansha-ahā awwala marratin wahuwa bikulli khalqin ʿalīmu

36:80

ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ ٱلۡأَخۡضَرِ نَارࣰا فَإِذَاۤ أَنتُم مِّنۡهُ تُوقِدُونَ ۝٨٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"The same (Allah); He, Who produces fire out of the green tree, for you, who see! You may start a fire with it

alladhī jaʿala lakum mina l-shajari l-akhḍari nāran fa-idhā antum min'hu tūqidūn

36:81

أَوَ لَیۡسَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰۤ أَن یَخۡلُقَ مِثۡلَهُمۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ ٱلۡخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٨١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Is not He Who created the heavens and the earth able to create (another) like them? Yes indeed! (He can recreate them.) He is the Supreme Creator (Al-Khaliq), the All Knowing (Al-Aleem

awalaysa alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa biqādirin ʿalā an yakhluqa mith'lahum balā wahuwa l-khalāqu l-ʿalīm

36:82

إِنَّمَاۤ أَمۡرُهُۥۤ إِذَاۤ أَرَادَ شَیۡءًا أَن یَقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَیَكُونُ ۝٨٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Surely, when He wants anything, His Command to it is, 'Be', and it is!"

innamā amruhu idhā arāda shayan an yaqūla lahu kun fayakūn

36:83

فَسُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِی بِیَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٨٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

So Glory be unto Him, in Whose hands is the kingdom of all things, and to Him all of you will be brought back

fasub'ḥāna alladhī biyadihi malakūtu kulli shayin wa-ilayhi tur'jaʿūn
