1 The Resurrection

قۤۚ وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ ٱلۡمَجِیدِ ۝١

M. Farook Malik

Qaf. By the Glorious Qur’an (O Muhammad you are the Messenger of Allah)

qaf wal-qur'āni l-majīd

بَلۡ عَجِبُوۤا۟ أَن جَاۤءَهُم مُّنذِرࣱ مِّنۡهُمۡ فَقَالَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا شَیۡءٌ عَجِیبٌ ۝٢

M. Farook Malik

But they wonder that there has come to them a Warner from among themselves. So the unbelievers say: "This indeed is very strang

bal ʿajibū an jāahum mundhirun min'hum faqāla l-kāfirūna hādhā shayon ʿajību

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰاۖ ذَ ٰلِكَ رَجۡعُۢ بَعِیدࣱ ۝٣

M. Farook Malik

that after we are dead and have become dust we shall be raised to life again, such a return is far from reason."

a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban dhālika rajʿun baʿīdu

قَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا مَا تَنقُصُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَعِندَنَا كِتَـٰبٌ حَفِیظُۢ ۝٤

M. Farook Malik

We know all that the earth consumes of their bodies, and We have a Book which keeps records of everything

qad ʿalim'nā mā tanquṣu l-arḍu min'hum waʿindanā kitābun ḥafīẓu

بَلۡ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِٱلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاۤءَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ فِیۤ أَمۡرࣲ مَّرِیجٍ ۝٥

M. Farook Malik

Nay! But these people deny the truth when it comes to them, and they are confused

bal kadhabū bil-ḥaqi lammā jāahum fahum fī amrin marīji

أَفَلَمۡ یَنظُرُوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَوۡقَهُمۡ كَیۡفَ بَنَیۡنَـٰهَا وَزَیَّنَّـٰهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجࣲ ۝٦

M. Farook Malik

Have they never looked at the sky above them, and marked how We have made it and adorned it, and there are no flaws in it

afalam yanẓurū ilā l-samāi fawqahum kayfa banaynāhā wazayyannāhā wamā lahā min furūji

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَـٰهَا وَأَلۡقَیۡنَا فِیهَا رَوَ ٰسِیَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِیهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِیجࣲ ۝٧

M. Farook Malik

And the earth, how We have spread it out and set upon it mountains and caused to grow in it every kind of beautiful vegetation

wal-arḍa madadnāhā wa-alqaynā fīhā rawāsiya wa-anbatnā fīhā min kulli zawjin bahīji

تَبۡصِرَةࣰ وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبۡدࣲ مُّنِیبࣲ ۝٨

M. Farook Malik

All these things are eye-openers and a reminder for every servant returning to Allah

tabṣiratan wadhik'rā likulli ʿabdin munībi

وَنَزَّلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ مُّبَـٰرَكࣰا فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَحَبَّ ٱلۡحَصِیدِ ۝٩

M. Farook Malik

We send down blessed water from the sky with which We bring forth gardens and the harvest grain

wanazzalnā mina l-samāi māan mubārakan fa-anbatnā bihi jannātin waḥabba l-ḥaṣīd

وَٱلنَّخۡلَ بَاسِقَـٰتࣲ لَّهَا طَلۡعࣱ نَّضِیدࣱ ۝١٠

M. Farook Malik

and tall palm trees laden with clusters of dates, piled one over another

wal-nakhla bāsiqātin lahā ṭalʿun naḍīdu

رِّزۡقࣰا لِّلۡعِبَادِۖ وَأَحۡیَیۡنَا بِهِۦ بَلۡدَةࣰ مَّیۡتࣰاۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡخُرُوجُ ۝١١

M. Farook Malik

a sustenance for the servants; thereby giving new life to dead land. That is how the resurrection will be of the dead from the earth

riz'qan lil'ʿibādi wa-aḥyaynā bihi baldatan maytan kadhālika l-khurūj

كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحࣲ وَأَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ ۝١٢

M. Farook Malik

Before, the people of Noah and the dwellers of Ar-Rass denied this truth and so did Thamud

kadhabat qablahum qawmu nūḥin wa-aṣḥābu l-rasi wathamūd

وَعَادࣱ وَفِرۡعَوۡنُ وَإِخۡوَ ٰنُ لُوطࣲ ۝١٣

M. Farook Malik

‘Ad, Pharaoh and the brethren of Lot

waʿādun wafir'ʿawnu wa-ikh'wānu lūṭi

وَأَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡأَیۡكَةِ وَقَوۡمُ تُبَّعࣲۚ كُلࣱّ كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِیدِ ۝١٤

M. Farook Malik

the dwellers of the Al-Aiykah and the people of Tubba; all of them disbelieved their Messengers and thus brought down upon them My threatened scourge

wa-aṣḥābu l-aykati waqawmu tubbaʿin kullun kadhaba l-rusula faḥaqqa waʿīd

أَفَعَیِینَا بِٱلۡخَلۡقِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ فِی لَبۡسࣲ مِّنۡ خَلۡقࣲ جَدِیدࣲ ۝١٥

M. Farook Malik

Were We fatigued with the first creation that they are in doubt about a new creation

afaʿayīnā bil-khalqi l-awali bal hum fī labsin min khalqin jadīdi

2 The Resurrection

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ وَنَعۡلَمُ مَا تُوَسۡوِسُ بِهِۦ نَفۡسُهُۥۖ وَنَحۡنُ أَقۡرَبُ إِلَیۡهِ مِنۡ حَبۡلِ ٱلۡوَرِیدِ ۝١٦

M. Farook Malik

We created man, We know the prompting of his soul, and We are closer to him than his jugular vein

walaqad khalaqnā l-insāna wanaʿlamu mā tuwaswisu bihi nafsuhu wanaḥnu aqrabu ilayhi min ḥabli l-warīd

إِذۡ یَتَلَقَّى ٱلۡمُتَلَقِّیَانِ عَنِ ٱلۡیَمِینِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ قَعِیدࣱ ۝١٧

M. Farook Malik

Besides this direct knowledge ,We have assigned to every one two scribes (guardian angels), the one seated on his right and the other on his left

idh yatalaqqā l-mutalaqiyāni ʿani l-yamīni waʿani l-shimāli qaʿīdu

مَّا یَلۡفِظُ مِن قَوۡلٍ إِلَّا لَدَیۡهِ رَقِیبٌ عَتِیدࣱ ۝١٨

M. Farook Malik

not a single word does he utter but there is a vigilant guardian ready to note it down

mā yalfiẓu min qawlin illā ladayhi raqībun ʿatīdu

وَجَاۤءَتۡ سَكۡرَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ ذَ ٰلِكَ مَا كُنتَ مِنۡهُ تَحِیدُ ۝١٩

M. Farook Malik

When the agony of death will bring the truth before his eyes, they will say: "This is what you were trying to escape!"

wajāat sakratu l-mawti bil-ḥaqi dhālika mā kunta min'hu taḥīd

وَنُفِخَ فِی ٱلصُّورِۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ یَوۡمُ ٱلۡوَعِیدِ ۝٢٠

M. Farook Malik

And the Trumpet shall be blown; that will be the Day of which you were threatened

wanufikha fī l-ṣūri dhālika yawmu l-waʿīd

وَجَاۤءَتۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ مَّعَهَا سَاۤىِٕقࣱ وَشَهِیدࣱ ۝٢١

M. Farook Malik

Each soul will come forth; with it there will be a an angel to drive and an angel to bear witness

wajāat kullu nafsin maʿahā sāiqun washahīdu

لَّقَدۡ كُنتَ فِی غَفۡلَةࣲ مِّنۡ هَـٰذَا فَكَشَفۡنَا عَنكَ غِطَاۤءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ حَدِیدࣱ ۝٢٢

M. Farook Malik

It will be said: "You were heedless of this, but now We have removed your veil, so your eyesight is sharp today!"

laqad kunta fī ghaflatin min hādhā fakashafnā ʿanka ghiṭāaka fabaṣaruka l-yawma ḥadīdu

وَقَالَ قَرِینُهُۥ هَـٰذَا مَا لَدَیَّ عَتِیدٌ ۝٢٣

M. Farook Malik

His companion will say: "Here is my testimony ready with me."

waqāla qarīnuhu hādhā mā ladayya ʿatīdu

أَلۡقِیَا فِی جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِیدࣲ ۝٢٤

M. Farook Malik

The sentence will be: "Throw into hell every stubborn disbeliever

alqiyā fī jahannama kulla kaffārin ʿanīdi

مَّنَّاعࣲ لِّلۡخَیۡرِ مُعۡتَدࣲ مُّرِیبٍ ۝٢٥

M. Farook Malik

every opponent of good, and every doubting transgresso

mannāʿin lil'khayri muʿ'tadin murībi

ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَأَلۡقِیَاهُ فِی ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلشَّدِیدِ ۝٢٦

M. Farook Malik

who set up other gods besides Allah. Throw him into severe punishment."

alladhī jaʿala maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara fa-alqiyāhu fī l-ʿadhābi l-shadīd

۞ قَالَ قَرِینُهُۥ رَبَّنَا مَاۤ أَطۡغَیۡتُهُۥ وَلَـٰكِن كَانَ فِی ضَلَـٰلِۭ بَعِیدࣲ ۝٢٧

M. Farook Malik

His companion will say: "Our Lord! I did not mislead him. He himself had gone far astray."

qāla qarīnuhu rabbanā mā aṭghaytuhu walākin kāna fī ḍalālin baʿīdi

قَالَ لَا تَخۡتَصِمُوا۟ لَدَیَّ وَقَدۡ قَدَّمۡتُ إِلَیۡكُم بِٱلۡوَعِیدِ ۝٢٨

M. Farook Malik

Allah will say: "Do not dispute with each other in My presence. I gave you warning beforehand

qāla lā takhtaṣimū ladayya waqad qaddamtu ilaykum bil-waʿīd

مَا یُبَدَّلُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ لَدَیَّ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ بِظَلَّـٰمࣲ لِّلۡعَبِیدِ ۝٢٩

M. Farook Malik

My words cannot be changed, nor am I unjust to My servants."

mā yubaddalu l-qawlu ladayya wamā anā biẓallāmin lil'ʿabīd

3 The Resurrection

یَوۡمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ ٱمۡتَلَأۡتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلۡ مِن مَّزِیدࣲ ۝٣٠

M. Farook Malik

On that Day, We shall ask the hell: "Are you full?" And the hell will answer: "Are there any more?"

yawma naqūlu lijahannama hali im'talati wataqūlu hal min mazīdi

وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ غَیۡرَ بَعِیدٍ ۝٣١

M. Farook Malik

Paradise shall be brought close to the righteous, which will no more be a distant thing

wa-uz'lifati l-janatu lil'muttaqīna ghayra baʿīdi

هَـٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِیظࣲ ۝٣٢

M. Farook Malik

and it will be said: "Here is what you were promised. It is for every penitent faithful person

hādhā mā tūʿadūna likulli awwābin ḥafīẓi

مَّنۡ خَشِیَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنَ بِٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَجَاۤءَ بِقَلۡبࣲ مُّنِیبٍ ۝٣٣

M. Farook Malik

who feared the Compassionate (Allah) without seeing Him and will come before Him with a devoted heart."

man khashiya l-raḥmāna bil-ghaybi wajāa biqalbin munībi

ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَـٰمࣲۖ ذَ ٰلِكَ یَوۡمُ ٱلۡخُلُودِ ۝٣٤

M. Farook Malik

Allah will say: "Enter it in peace; this is the Day of Eternal Life!"

ud'khulūhā bisalāmin dhālika yawmu l-khulūd

لَهُم مَّا یَشَاۤءُونَ فِیهَا وَلَدَیۡنَا مَزِیدࣱ ۝٣٥

M. Farook Malik

There they shall have all that they wish, and We shall have yet more to give

lahum mā yashāūna fīhā waladaynā mazīdu

وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡنٍ هُمۡ أَشَدُّ مِنۡهُم بَطۡشࣰا فَنَقَّبُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡبِلَـٰدِ هَلۡ مِن مَّحِیصٍ ۝٣٦

M. Farook Malik

How many generations, far stronger in power, have We destroyed before them! They searched the entire land: but could they find any refuge

wakam ahlaknā qablahum min qarnin hum ashaddu min'hum baṭshan fanaqqabū fī l-bilādi hal min maḥīṣi

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَذِكۡرَىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُۥ قَلۡبٌ أَوۡ أَلۡقَى ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَهُوَ شَهِیدࣱ ۝٣٧

M. Farook Malik

Surely in this there is a lesson for every person who has a heart, and can hear and witness

inna fī dhālika ladhik'rā liman kāna lahu qalbun aw alqā l-samʿa wahuwa shahīdu

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا فِی سِتَّةِ أَیَّامࣲ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِن لُّغُوبࣲ ۝٣٨

M. Farook Malik

We created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them in six periods, and no fatigue touched Us

walaqad khalaqnā l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā fī sittati ayyāmin wamā massanā min lughūbi

فَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَا یَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ قَبۡلَ طُلُوعِ ٱلشَّمۡسِ وَقَبۡلَ ٱلۡغُرُوبِ ۝٣٩

M. Farook Malik

Therefore, O Prophet, bear with them in patience whatever they say, and keep on glorifying your Lord before sunrise and before sunset

fa-iṣ'bir ʿalā mā yaqūlūna wasabbiḥ biḥamdi rabbika qabla ṭulūʿi l-shamsi waqabla l-ghurūb

وَمِنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡهُ وَأَدۡبَـٰرَ ٱلسُّجُودِ ۝٤٠

M. Farook Malik

And glorify Him during a part of the night and after the prostration (prayers)

wamina al-layli fasabbiḥ'hu wa-adbāra l-sujūd

وَٱسۡتَمِعۡ یَوۡمَ یُنَادِ ٱلۡمُنَادِ مِن مَّكَانࣲ قَرِیبࣲ ۝٤١

M. Farook Malik

And listen! The Day when the Caller will call out from a place quite near

wa-is'tamiʿ yawma yunādi l-munādi min makānin qarībi

یَوۡمَ یَسۡمَعُونَ ٱلصَّیۡحَةَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ یَوۡمُ ٱلۡخُرُوجِ ۝٤٢

M. Farook Malik

the Day when the people will hear the mighty blast in reality; that will be the Day of coming forth (the dead will rise from their graves)

yawma yasmaʿūna l-ṣayḥata bil-ḥaqi dhālika yawmu l-khurūj

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نُحۡیِۦ وَنُمِیتُ وَإِلَیۡنَا ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ۝٤٣

M. Farook Malik

Surely it is We Who give life and death; and to Us shall all return

innā naḥnu nuḥ'yī wanumītu wa-ilaynā l-maṣīr

یَوۡمَ تَشَقَّقُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ عَنۡهُمۡ سِرَاعࣰاۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ حَشۡرٌ عَلَیۡنَا یَسِیرࣱ ۝٤٤

M. Farook Malik

on that Day when the earth shall split asunder and the people shall be rushing out of it; that gathering them together shall be quite easy for Us

yawma tashaqqaqu l-arḍu ʿanhum sirāʿan dhālika ḥashrun ʿalaynā yasīru

نَّحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا یَقُولُونَۖ وَمَاۤ أَنتَ عَلَیۡهِم بِجَبَّارࣲۖ فَذَكِّرۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مَن یَخَافُ وَعِیدِ ۝٤٥

M. Farook Malik

We know very well what these unbelievers say. You (O Muhammad) are not there to compel them to believe. So admonish with this Qur’an every such person who fears My warning

naḥnu aʿlamu bimā yaqūlūna wamā anta ʿalayhim bijabbārin fadhakkir bil-qur'āni man yakhāfu waʿīd
