1 Success of the Faithful

وَٱلطُّورِ ۝١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

By (the Mountain) Tur

وَكِتَـٰبࣲ مَّسۡطُورࣲ ۝٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And by the Book inscribed

wakitābin masṭūri

فِی رَقࣲّ مَّنشُورࣲ ۝٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Which is) on an Unfolded Scroll

fī raqqin manshūri

وَٱلۡبَیۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡمُورِ ۝٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And by the House populated (by the angels i.e., the Ka‘ba in heaven)

wal-bayti l-maʿmūr

وَٱلسَّقۡفِ ٱلۡمَرۡفُوعِ ۝٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And by the Lofty Roof (i.e., the High Heaven or the Most Exalted Throne)

wal-saqfi l-marfūʿ

وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ ٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ ۝٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And by the swelling sea

wal-baḥri l-masjūr

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَ ٰقِعࣱ ۝٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, the torment of your Lord will do take place

inna ʿadhāba rabbika lawāqiʿu

مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعࣲ ۝٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

No one can avert it

mā lahu min dāfiʿi

یَوۡمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ مَوۡرࣰا ۝٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The Day when the heaven will shake with a terrible tremor

yawma tamūru l-samāu mawra

وَتَسِیرُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ سَیۡرࣰا ۝١٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the mountains (leaving their locations) will fly fast (like clouds) and scatter (like dust particles)

watasīru l-jibālu sayra

فَوَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝١١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So on that Day, woe to those who belie

fawaylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīn

ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ فِی خَوۡضࣲ یَلۡعَبُونَ ۝١٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Those who are playing a game of negligence, rapt in falsehood (i.e., absurdity)

alladhīna hum fī khawḍin yalʿabūn

یَوۡمَ یُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا ۝١٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The Day when they will be forcefully pushed towards the Fire of Hell

yawma yudaʿʿūna ilā nāri jahannama daʿʿa

هَـٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِی كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝١٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(It will be said to them:) ‘This is the Fire of Hell you used to belie

hādhihi l-nāru allatī kuntum bihā tukadhibūn

أَفَسِحۡرٌ هَـٰذَاۤ أَمۡ أَنتُمۡ لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ ۝١٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So is it magic, or do you not see

afasiḥ'run hādhā am antum lā tub'ṣirūn

ٱصۡلَوۡهَا فَٱصۡبِرُوۤا۟ أَوۡ لَا تَصۡبِرُوا۟ سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡكُمۡۖ إِنَّمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Enter it. Then it is all the same for you whether you observe patience, or you do not observe patience. You will be paid only for those deeds which you used to do.

iṣ'lawhā fa-iṣ'birū aw lā taṣbirū sawāon ʿalaykum innamā tuj'zawna mā kuntum taʿmalūn

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَنَعِیمࣲ ۝١٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, the Godfearing will be in the Gardens and Bliss

inna l-mutaqīna fī jannātin wanaʿīmi

فَـٰكِهِینَ بِمَاۤ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝١٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

They will be delighted at (the bestowals) their Lord will have blessed them with. And their Lord will keep them safe from the punishment of Hell

fākihīna bimā ātāhum rabbuhum wawaqāhum rabbuhum ʿadhāba l-jaḥīm

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشۡرَبُوا۟ هَنِیۤءَۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(It will be said to them:) ‘Relish food and drink as a reward for the (pious) deeds which you used to do.

kulū wa-ish'rabū hanīan bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مَّصۡفُوفَةࣲۖ وَزَوَّجۡنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِینࣲ ۝٢٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

They will be reclining (sitting) on couches arranged in rows, and We will marry them to maidens with fair colour (and) fascinating eyes

muttakiīna ʿalā sururin maṣfūfatin wazawwajnāhum biḥūrin ʿīni

وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتۡهُمۡ ذُرِّیَّتُهُم بِإِیمَـٰنٍ أَلۡحَقۡنَا بِهِمۡ ذُرِّیَّتَهُمۡ وَمَاۤ أَلَتۡنَـٰهُم مِّنۡ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَیۡءࣲۚ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِىِٕۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِینࣱ ۝٢١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And those who believe and whose children follow them in faith, We shall also unite their children with them (in the ranks of Paradise even if their actions would not fall in that grade. It would be in the honour of their pious fathers). And We shall also not reduce in anyway the reward of the actions of their (pious fathers. Besides this,) everyone will be held in (reward and punishment for) his own works

wa-alladhīna āmanū wa-ittabaʿathum dhurriyyatuhum biīmānin alḥaqnā bihim dhurriyyatahum wamā alatnāhum min ʿamalihim min shayin kullu im'ri-in bimā kasaba rahīnu

وَأَمۡدَدۡنَـٰهُم بِفَـٰكِهَةࣲ وَلَحۡمࣲ مِّمَّا یَشۡتَهُونَ ۝٢٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We will keep giving them fruit and meat more and more as they desire

wa-amdadnāhum bifākihatin walaḥmin mimmā yashtahūn

یَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ فِیهَا كَأۡسࣰا لَّا لَغۡوࣱ فِیهَا وَلَا تَأۡثِیمࣱ ۝٢٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

There, they will take the cups (of holy drink) by grabbing. This (holy drink of Paradise) will be free of foolish talk and sinful acts

yatanāzaʿūna fīhā kasan lā laghwun fīhā walā tathīmu

۞ وَیَطُوفُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ غِلۡمَانࣱ لَّهُمۡ كَأَنَّهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤࣱ مَّكۡنُونࣱ ۝٢٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (the serving) youths will go round them as if they were pearls kept hidden in covers

wayaṭūfu ʿalayhim ghil'mānun lahum ka-annahum lu'lu-on maknūnu

وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ ۝٢٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And they will turn to one another, enquiring well-being

wa-aqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāalūn

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبۡلُ فِیۤ أَهۡلِنَا مُشۡفِقِینَ ۝٢٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

They will say: ‘Surely before this, we used to live in fear (of Allah’s torment) in our homes

qālū innā kunnā qablu fī ahlinā mush'fiqīn

فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیۡنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ ۝٢٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So Allah has been Gracious to favour us and has saved us from the punishment of the Fire of Hell

famanna l-lahu ʿalaynā wawaqānā ʿadhāba l-samūm

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبۡلُ نَدۡعُوهُۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٢٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, we used to worship Him alone beforehand. Surely, He is Most Gracious, Ever-Merciful.

innā kunnā min qablu nadʿūhu innahu huwa l-baru l-raḥīm

2 Opponents are doomed

فَذَكِّرۡ فَمَاۤ أَنتَ بِنِعۡمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنࣲ وَلَا مَجۡنُونٍ ۝٢٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So, (O Esteemed Beloved,) continue to admonish (them). By the grace and blessing of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer (the one who gives news through the jinn) nor a madman

fadhakkir famā anta biniʿ'mati rabbika bikāhinin walā majnūni

أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ شَاعِرࣱ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَیۡبَ ٱلۡمَنُونِ ۝٣٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Do the disbelievers say: ‘(He is) a poet for whom we look forward to some temporal disasters’

am yaqūlūna shāʿirun natarabbaṣu bihi rayba l-manūn

قُلۡ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّی مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُتَرَبِّصِینَ ۝٣١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Say: ‘Wait on, I am also waiting together with you (for your destruction).

qul tarabbaṣū fa-innī maʿakum mina l-mutarabiṣīn

أَمۡ تَأۡمُرُهُمۡ أَحۡلَـٰمُهُم بِهَـٰذَاۤۚ أَمۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ طَاغُونَ ۝٣٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Do their mental faculties suggest them this (foolishness), or are they rioters and rebels

am tamuruhum aḥlāmuhum bihādhā am hum qawmun ṭāghūn

أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥۚ بَل لَّا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٣٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Or do they say: ‘He (the Messenger) has invented it (the Qur’an) himself’? (No indeed;) rather they simply do not believe (in the truth)

am yaqūlūna taqawwalahu bal lā yu'minūn

فَلۡیَأۡتُوا۟ بِحَدِیثࣲ مِّثۡلِهِۦۤ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٣٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So let them produce a treatise like this (Qur’an) if they are truthful

falyatū biḥadīthin mith'lihi in kānū ṣādiqīn

أَمۡ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنۡ غَیۡرِ شَیۡءٍ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقُونَ ۝٣٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Have they been created by nothing, or are they themselves the creators

am khuliqū min ghayri shayin am humu l-khāliqūn

أَمۡ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَۚ بَل لَّا یُوقِنُونَ ۝٣٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Or did they create the heavens and the earth themselves? (No,) in fact, they do not have any faith (in the truth)

am khalaqū l-samāwāti wal-arḍa bal lā yūqinūn

أَمۡ عِندَهُمۡ خَزَاۤىِٕنُ رَبِّكَ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡمُصَۣیۡطِرُونَ ۝٣٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Or do they own the treasures of your Lord? Or are they guards and watchmen over them

am ʿindahum khazāinu rabbika am humu l-muṣayṭirūn

أَمۡ لَهُمۡ سُلَّمࣱ یَسۡتَمِعُونَ فِیهِۖ فَلۡیَأۡتِ مُسۡتَمِعُهُم بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٣٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Or do they have any ladder (by which they ascend) and listen stealthily (to the heaven)? So let the listener amongst them bring the clear proof

am lahum sullamun yastamiʿūna fīhi falyati mus'tamiʿuhum bisul'ṭānin mubīni

أَمۡ لَهُ ٱلۡبَنَـٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ ۝٣٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Are there daughters for Him (the Lord) and sons for you

am lahu l-banātu walakumu l-banūn

أَمۡ تَسۡءَلُهُمۡ أَجۡرࣰا فَهُم مِّن مَّغۡرَمࣲ مُّثۡقَلُونَ ۝٤٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Do you ask them for wages that they are weighed down with debt

am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muth'qalūn

أَمۡ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبُ فَهُمۡ یَكۡتُبُونَ ۝٤١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Do they have (the knowledge of) the unseen that they write down

am ʿindahumu l-ghaybu fahum yaktubūn

أَمۡ یُرِیدُونَ كَیۡدࣰاۖ فَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلۡمَكِیدُونَ ۝٤٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Do they seek to deceive (you) by trickery? Those who disbelieve are being caught in their own trap

am yurīdūna kaydan fa-alladhīna kafarū humu l-makīdūn

أَمۡ لَهُمۡ إِلَـٰهٌ غَیۡرُ ٱللَّهِۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٤٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Do they have any god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah, above all what they set up as a partner (with Allah)

am lahum ilāhun ghayru l-lahi sub'ḥāna l-lahi ʿammā yush'rikūn

وَإِن یَرَوۡا۟ كِسۡفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ سَاقِطࣰا یَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابࣱ مَّرۡكُومࣱ ۝٤٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And if they see a fragment of the sky falling (on them, even then) they will say: ‘It is a layered (thick) cloud.

wa-in yaraw kis'fan mina l-samāi sāqiṭan yaqūlū saḥābun markūmu

فَذَرۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ یُلَـٰقُوا۟ یَوۡمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِی فِیهِ یُصۡعَقُونَ ۝٤٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So leave them (in their plight) till they meet that Day of theirs when they will be destroyed

fadharhum ḥattā yulāqū yawmahumu alladhī fīhi yuṣ'ʿaqūn

یَوۡمَ لَا یُغۡنِی عَنۡهُمۡ كَیۡدُهُمۡ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا هُمۡ یُنصَرُونَ ۝٤٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The Day when their plots will be of no use to them, nor will they be helped

yawma lā yugh'nī ʿanhum kayduhum shayan walā hum yunṣarūn

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابࣰا دُونَ ذَ ٰلِكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٤٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And for those who are committed to doing wrong, there is a torment for them besides this torment as well but most of them do not know

wa-inna lilladhīna ẓalamū ʿadhāban dūna dhālika walākinna aktharahum lā yaʿlamūn

وَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعۡیُنِنَاۖ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ حِینَ تَقُومُ ۝٤٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And, (O Esteemed Beloved, do not grieve over what they say). Wait patiently for the command of your Lord. Surely, you are (at all times) before Our Eyes.* And glorify your Lord with His praise whenever you stand forth

wa-iṣ'bir liḥuk'mi rabbika fa-innaka bi-aʿyuninā wasabbiḥ biḥamdi rabbika ḥīna taqūm

وَمِنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡهُ وَإِدۡبَـٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ ۝٤٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And also glorify Him during the hours of the night and (in later part of it) when the stars fade out

wamina al-layli fasabbiḥ'hu wa-id'bāra l-nujūm
