The Reality, The Inevitable — Dr Mohammad Tahir Ul Qadri Translation

Allah made that (gale) seize them for consecutive seven nights and eight days. So, you could see them lying dead (during that time as if) they were hollow roots of the uprooted palm trees

sakharahā ʿalayhim sabʿa layālin wathamāniyata ayyāmin ḥusūman fatarā l-qawma fīhā ṣarʿā ka-annahum aʿjāzu nakhlin khāwiyati

69:8

فَهَلۡ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِیَةࣲ ۝٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So do you see any of them surviving

fahal tarā lahum min bāqiyati

69:9

وَجَاۤءَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَن قَبۡلَهُۥ وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلۡخَاطِئَةِ ۝٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And Pharaoh and those before him and (the dwellers of) the overthrown towns (of the community of Lut [Lot]) committed grave sins

wajāa fir'ʿawnu waman qablahu wal-mu'tafikātu bil-khāṭi-at

69:10

فَعَصَوۡا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمۡ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ أَخۡذَةࣰ رَّابِیَةً ۝١٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So they (also) disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord. And Allah seized them with a mighty seizure

faʿaṣaw rasūla rabbihim fa-akhadhahum akhdhatan rābiyata

69:11

إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلۡمَاۤءُ حَمَلۡنَـٰكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡجَارِیَةِ ۝١١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, when the water (of the Deluge) overflowed the limit, We carried you in the floating Ark

innā lammā ṭaghā l-māu ḥamalnākum fī l-jāriyat

69:12

لِنَجۡعَلَهَا لَكُمۡ تَذۡكِرَةࣰ وَتَعِیَهَاۤ أُذُنࣱ وَ ٰعِیَةࣱ ۝١٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So that We make this (episode a reminding) lesson of warning for you and that the retentive ears may retain it

linajʿalahā lakum tadhkiratan wataʿiyahā udhunun wāʿiyatu

69:13

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِی ٱلصُّورِ نَفۡخَةࣱ وَ ٰحِدَةࣱ ۝١٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then when the Trumpet will be blown once

fa-idhā nufikha fī l-ṣūri nafkhatun wāḥidatu

69:14

وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ ۝١٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the earth and mountains will be removed (from their places), they will then be crushed to sand particles in a single crash

waḥumilati l-arḍu wal-jibālu fadukkatā dakkatan wāḥidata

69:15

فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ ۝١٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then that will be the Hour when the surely Inevitable (calamity) will occur

fayawma-idhin waqaʿati l-wāqiʿat

69:16

وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فَهِیَ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَاهِیَةࣱ ۝١٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (all) the heavenly bodies will split apart and this universe will come to comprise (black) holes (by means of a force which coordinates and keeps the system going).

wa-inshaqqati l-samāu fahiya yawma-idhin wāhiyatu

69:17

وَٱلۡمَلَكُ عَلَىٰۤ أَرۡجَاۤىِٕهَاۚ وَیَحۡمِلُ عَرۡشَ رَبِّكَ فَوۡقَهُمۡ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ ثَمَـٰنِیَةࣱ ۝١٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the angels will be standing on its edges and above them that Day, and eight (angels or parties of angels) will be carrying the Throne of your Lord

wal-malaku ʿalā arjāihā wayaḥmilu ʿarsha rabbika fawqahum yawma-idhin thamāniyatu

69:18

یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ تُعۡرَضُونَ لَا تَخۡفَىٰ مِنكُمۡ خَافِیَةࣱ ۝١٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

That Day you will be made to appear (for reckoning). Nothing of your secrets will remain hidden

yawma-idhin tuʿ'raḍūna lā takhfā minkum khāfiyatu

69:19

فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِیَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِیَمِینِهِۦ فَیَقُولُ هَاۤؤُمُ ٱقۡرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِیَهۡ ۝١٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So the one who will be given his record in the right hand will say (pleased): ‘Come and read my record

fa-ammā man ūtiya kitābahu biyamīnihi fayaqūlu hāumu iq'raū kitābiya

69:20

إِنِّی ظَنَنتُ أَنِّی مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِیَهۡ ۝٢٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

I firmly believed that I would find my account (easy).

innī ẓanantu annī mulāqin ḥisābiya

69:21

فَهُوَ فِی عِیشَةࣲ رَّاضِیَةࣲ ۝٢١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So he will live a pleasant life

fahuwa fī ʿīshatin rāḍiyati

69:22

فِی جَنَّةٍ عَالِیَةࣲ ۝٢٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

In an elevated lofty Paradise

fī jannatin ʿāliyati

69:23

قُطُوفُهَا دَانِیَةࣱ ۝٢٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The clusters of its fruits hanging low (due to abundance)

quṭūfuhā dāniyatu

69:24

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشۡرَبُوا۟ هَنِیۤءَۢا بِمَاۤ أَسۡلَفۡتُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَیَّامِ ٱلۡخَالِیَةِ ۝٢٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(It will be said to them:) ‘Eat and drink rejoicing, in recompense of (your deeds) that you had sent forward during the days of your past (life).

kulū wa-ish'rabū hanīan bimā aslaftum fī l-ayāmi l-khāliyat

69:25

وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِیَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَیَقُولُ یَـٰلَیۡتَنِی لَمۡ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِیَهۡ ۝٢٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And as for him who will be given his record in his left hand, he will say: ‘Would that I had not been given my record

wa-ammā man ūtiya kitābahu bishimālihi fayaqūlu yālaytanī lam ūta kitābiya

69:26

وَلَمۡ أَدۡرِ مَا حِسَابِیَهۡ ۝٢٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And would that I had not known about my account

walam adri mā ḥisābiya

69:27

یَـٰلَیۡتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلۡقَاضِیَةَ ۝٢٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Alas! Would that (death) had settled my affair once and for all

yālaytahā kānati l-qāḍiyat

69:28

مَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنِّی مَالِیَهۡۜ ۝٢٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Today my wealth has not been able to keep (the torment) away from me even a little

mā aghnā ʿannī māliya

69:29

هَلَكَ عَنِّی سُلۡطَـٰنِیَهۡ ۝٢٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

My power and domain have (also) gone from me.

halaka ʿannī sul'ṭāniya

69:30

خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ ۝٣٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(It will be commanded:) ‘Seize him and put him in neck-fetter

khudhūhu faghullūh

69:31

ثُمَّ ٱلۡجَحِیمَ صَلُّوهُ ۝٣١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then cast him into Hell

thumma l-jaḥīma ṣallūh

69:32

ثُمَّ فِی سِلۡسِلَةࣲ ذَرۡعُهَا سَبۡعُونَ ذِرَاعࣰا فَٱسۡلُكُوهُ ۝٣٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then bind him tightly in a seventy yard long chain

thumma fī sil'silatin dharʿuhā sabʿūna dhirāʿan fa-us'lukūh

69:33

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٣٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Verily, he did not believe in Allah, the Lord of Majesty

innahu kāna lā yu'minu bil-lahi l-ʿaẓīm

69:34

وَلَا یَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِینِ ۝٣٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor

walā yaḥuḍḍu ʿalā ṭaʿāmi l-mis'kīn

69:35

فَلَیۡسَ لَهُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِیمࣱ ۝٣٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So Today he does not have any warm friend

falaysa lahu l-yawma hāhunā ḥamīmu

69:36

وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنۡ غِسۡلِینࣲ ۝٣٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Nor has he anything to eat except filthy pus

walā ṭaʿāmun illā min ghis'līni

69:37

لَّا یَأۡكُلُهُۥۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡخَـٰطِءُونَ ۝٣٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

That no one will eat except the sinners.

lā yakuluhu illā l-khāṭiūn

69:38

فَلَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِمَا تُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٣٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So I swear by the things that you see

falā uq'simu bimā tub'ṣirūn

69:39

وَمَا لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٣٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And by those things that you do not see

wamā lā tub'ṣirūn

69:40

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولࣲ كَرِیمࣲ ۝٤٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Assuredly, this (Qur’an) is the (God-sent) commandment of the Exalted and Glorious Messenger ([blessings and peace be upon him] which he expounds as a Messenger and as a Vicegerent)

innahu laqawlu rasūlin karīmi

69:41

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَاعِرࣲۚ قَلِیلࣰا مَّا تُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٤١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And it is not the poetry of a poet (composed with literary expertise). You have but little faith

wamā huwa biqawli shāʿirin qalīlan mā tu'minūn

69:42

وَلَا بِقَوۡلِ كَاهِنࣲۚ قَلِیلࣰا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٤٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Nor is it the word of a fortune-teller (designed by skilful guesswork). You take but little advice

walā biqawli kāhinin qalīlan mā tadhakkarūn

69:43

تَنزِیلࣱ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٤٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(This) is sent down by the Lord of all the worlds

tanzīlun min rabbi l-ʿālamīn

69:44

وَلَوۡ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَیۡنَا بَعۡضَ ٱلۡأَقَاوِیلِ ۝٤٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And had he ascribed to Us even a (single) fabricated thing

walaw taqawwala ʿalaynā baʿḍa l-aqāwīl

69:45

لَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُ بِٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٤٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

We would have seized him with full force and might

la-akhadhnā min'hu bil-yamīn

69:46

ثُمَّ لَقَطَعۡنَا مِنۡهُ ٱلۡوَتِینَ ۝٤٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then certainly We would have cut his life artery

thumma laqaṭaʿnā min'hu l-watīn

69:47

فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنۡ أَحَدٍ عَنۡهُ حَـٰجِزِینَ ۝٤٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then no one of you could have held (Us) back from it

famā minkum min aḥadin ʿanhu ḥājizīn

69:48

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذۡكِرَةࣱ لِّلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٤٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So no doubt this (Qur’an) is direction and guidance for the Godfearing

wa-innahu latadhkiratun lil'muttaqīn

69:49

وَإِنَّا لَنَعۡلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِینَ ۝٤٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And surely, We know that some of you are the beliers (of this open truth)

wa-innā lanaʿlamu anna minkum mukadhibīn

69:50

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسۡرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٥٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And surely, this is (a cause of) bitter regret for the disbelievers

wa-innahu laḥasratun ʿalā l-kāfirīn

69:51

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلۡیَقِینِ ۝٥١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And undeniably, it is the truth of Absolute Certitude

wa-innahu laḥaqqu l-yaqīn

69:52

فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٥٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So, (O Esteemed Beloved,) glorify your Lord, Most Magnificent, with persistence

fasabbiḥ bi-is'mi rabbika l-ʿaẓīm
