۞ ٱلۡحَاۤقَّةُ ۝١

The Reality
al-ḥāqat
69:2 ›
مَا ٱلۡحَاۤقَّةُ ۝٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
And what is (that inevitable) Reality
mā l-ḥāqat
69:3 ›
وَمَاۤ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡحَاۤقَّةُ ۝٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
What do you understand by the ´Reality´
wamā adrāka mā l-ḥāqat
69:4 ›
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ وَعَادُۢ بِٱلۡقَارِعَةِ ۝٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
The ´Samoods´ and the ´Aads´ denied the (impending) calamity of sudden onset _ (the hour of Judgment)
kadhabat thamūdu waʿādun bil-qāriʿat
69:5 ›
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهۡلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِیَةِ ۝٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
So the Samoods were wiped out by the lightning (and the thunderbolt)
fa-ammā thamūdu fa-uh'likū bil-ṭāghiyat
69:6 ›
وَأَمَّا عَادࣱ فَأُهۡلِكُوا۟ بِرِیحࣲ صَرۡصَرٍ عَاتِیَةࣲ ۝٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
While the ´Aads´ were destroyed by the violent howling winds
wa-ammā ʿādun fa-uh'likū birīḥin ṣarṣarin ʿātiyati
69:7 ›
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ سَبۡعَ لَیَالࣲ وَثَمَـٰنِیَةَ أَیَّامٍ حُسُومࣰاۖ فَتَرَى ٱلۡقَوۡمَ فِیهَا صَرۡعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ خَاوِیَةࣲ ۝٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
For seven hideous days and eight gruesome nights, He let the winds ravage them. (Had you been there), you could see their bodies tossed about (and strewn around), as if they were the hollowed out trunks of the date trees
sakharahā ʿalayhim sabʿa layālin wathamāniyata ayyāmin ḥusūman fatarā l-qawma fīhā ṣarʿā ka-annahum aʿjāzu nakhlin khāwiyati
69:8 ›
فَهَلۡ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِیَةࣲ ۝٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
Do you see any of them around, anymore
fahal tarā lahum min bāqiyati
69:9 ›
وَجَاۤءَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَن قَبۡلَهُۥ وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلۡخَاطِئَةِ ۝٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
The pharaoh, and those before him _ the overturned cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah) _ committed the (very same) crime
wajāa fir'ʿawnu waman qablahu wal-mu'tafikātu bil-khāṭi-at
69:10 ›
فَعَصَوۡا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمۡ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ أَخۡذَةࣰ رَّابِیَةً ۝١٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
They defied the messengers of their Lord, and so He seized (and squeezed) them into a tight grip
faʿaṣaw rasūla rabbihim fa-akhadhahum akhdhatan rābiyata
69:11 ›
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلۡمَاۤءُ حَمَلۡنَـٰكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡجَارِیَةِ ۝١١
Dr. Munir Munshey
Indeed, (oh believers, during the great deluge of Nooh) when the water began to inundate, We carried you (and kept you afloat) aboard a ship
innā lammā ṭaghā l-māu ḥamalnākum fī l-jāriyat
69:12 ›
لِنَجۡعَلَهَا لَكُمۡ تَذۡكِرَةࣰ وَتَعِیَهَاۤ أُذُنࣱ وَ ٰعِیَةࣱ ۝١٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
So as to make it a memorable event for you; so that the attentive souls may retain an indelible memory of that event in their (subconscious) mind
linajʿalahā lakum tadhkiratan wataʿiyahā udhunun wāʿiyatu
69:13 ›
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِی ٱلصُّورِ نَفۡخَةࣱ وَ ٰحِدَةࣱ ۝١٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
As (soon as) the trumpet sounds for the first time
fa-idhā nufikha fī l-ṣūri nafkhatun wāḥidatu
69:14 ›
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ ۝١٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
The earth and the mountains would be dislodged and crushed with a single blow
waḥumilati l-arḍu wal-jibālu fadukkatā dakkatan wāḥidata
69:15 ›
فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ ۝١٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
And so, on that day the inevitable (event) would come to pass
fayawma-idhin waqaʿati l-wāqiʿat
69:16 ›
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فَهِیَ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَاهِیَةࣱ ۝١٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
Feeble and frail, on that day the sky shall burst asunder
wa-inshaqqati l-samāu fahiya yawma-idhin wāhiyatu
69:17 ›
وَٱلۡمَلَكُ عَلَىٰۤ أَرۡجَاۤىِٕهَاۚ وَیَحۡمِلُ عَرۡشَ رَبِّكَ فَوۡقَهُمۡ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ ثَمَـٰنِیَةࣱ ۝١٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
The angels would be present there, at the edge (of the throne). Eight of them would carry your Lord´s throne above them
wal-malaku ʿalā arjāihā wayaḥmilu ʿarsha rabbika fawqahum yawma-idhin thamāniyatu
69:18 ›
یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ تُعۡرَضُونَ لَا تَخۡفَىٰ مِنكُمۡ خَافِیَةࣱ ۝١٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
That shall be the day you are presented before Him (with all your secrets bared); none of your intimate secrets shall remain unexposed
yawma-idhin tuʿ'raḍūna lā takhfā minkum khāfiyatu
69:19 ›
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِیَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِیَمِینِهِۦ فَیَقُولُ هَاۤؤُمُ ٱقۡرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِیَهۡ ۝١٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
Then, the one who is given his record (of deeds) in his right hand would say, (excitedly to others), "Here, take (a look)! Read the record (of my deeds)."
fa-ammā man ūtiya kitābahu biyamīnihi fayaqūlu hāumu iq'raū kitābiya
69:20 ›
إِنِّی ظَنَنتُ أَنِّی مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِیَهۡ ۝٢٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
"I really did believe that (one day), I would have to face the reckoning."
innī ẓanantu annī mulāqin ḥisābiya
69:21 ›
فَهُوَ فِی عِیشَةࣲ رَّاضِیَةࣲ ۝٢١
Dr. Munir Munshey
So, he shall have a pleasant and blissful (ever lasting) life
fahuwa fī ʿīshatin rāḍiyati
69:22 ›
فِی جَنَّةٍ عَالِیَةࣲ ۝٢٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
In the exalted (gardens of delight)
fī jannatin ʿāliyati
69:23 ›
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِیَةࣱ ۝٢٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
With its cluster of fruit (drooping low), within easy reach
quṭūfuhā dāniyatu
69:24 ›
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشۡرَبُوا۟ هَنِیۤءَۢا بِمَاۤ أَسۡلَفۡتُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَیَّامِ ٱلۡخَالِیَةِ ۝٢٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
(Enjoy)! Eat and drink (and relish your reward), the result of the deeds you had earned in the life gone by
kulū wa-ish'rabū hanīan bimā aslaftum fī l-ayāmi l-khāliyat
69:25 ›
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِیَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَیَقُولُ یَـٰلَیۡتَنِی لَمۡ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِیَهۡ ۝٢٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
While he, who is given his record (of deeds) in his left hand would (lament and) say, "I wish I had never been given my record."
wa-ammā man ūtiya kitābahu bishimālihi fayaqūlu yālaytanī lam ūta kitābiya
69:26 ›
وَلَمۡ أَدۡرِ مَا حِسَابِیَهۡ ۝٢٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
"I wish I had never known (the contents of) my record."
walam adri mā ḥisābiya
69:27 ›
یَـٰلَیۡتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلۡقَاضِیَةَ ۝٢٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
"I wish my death (in the world) had been final (and decisive)."
yālaytahā kānati l-qāḍiyat
69:28 ›
مَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنِّی مَالِیَهۡۜ ۝٢٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
"My wealth (and possessions) did not help me."
mā aghnā ʿannī māliya
69:29 ›
هَلَكَ عَنِّی سُلۡطَـٰنِیَهۡ ۝٢٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
"And my (talents and) faculties have (waned and) gone."
halaka ʿannī sul'ṭāniya
69:30 ›
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ ۝٣٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
(The command will sound), "Grab him and tie him down!"
khudhūhu faghullūh
69:31 ›
ثُمَّ ٱلۡجَحِیمَ صَلُّوهُ ۝٣١
Dr. Munir Munshey
"And roast him over the blazing fire."
thumma l-jaḥīma ṣallūh
69:32 ›
ثُمَّ فِی سِلۡسِلَةࣲ ذَرۡعُهَا سَبۡعُونَ ذِرَاعࣰا فَٱسۡلُكُوهُ ۝٣٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
"Then shackle him securely with iron chains, seventy yards long."
thumma fī sil'silatin dharʿuhā sabʿūna dhirāʿan fa-us'lukūh
69:33 ›
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٣٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
He did not believe in Allah, the Almighty, the Greatest
innahu kāna lā yu'minu bil-lahi l-ʿaẓīm
69:34 ›
وَلَا یَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِینِ ۝٣٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
Nor did he ever encourage the feeding of the needy (and the hungry)
walā yaḥuḍḍu ʿalā ṭaʿāmi l-mis'kīn
69:35 ›
فَلَیۡسَ لَهُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِیمࣱ ۝٣٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
Today, he has no friends here
falaysa lahu l-yawma hāhunā ḥamīmu
69:36 ›
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنۡ غِسۡلِینࣲ ۝٣٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
And to eat, he only has the filthy discharge from wounds
walā ṭaʿāmun illā min ghis'līni
69:37 ›
لَّا یَأۡكُلُهُۥۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡخَـٰطِءُونَ ۝٣٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
Which no one except the sinners have to eat
lā yakuluhu illā l-khāṭiūn

69:38 ›
فَلَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِمَا تُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٣٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
No! Absolutely not! I swear by all that you see
falā uq'simu bimā tub'ṣirūn
69:39 ›
وَمَا لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٣٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
As well as that which you do not
wamā lā tub'ṣirūn
69:40 ›
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولࣲ كَرِیمࣲ ۝٤٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
It, (the Qur´an), is the word of the noble messenger
innahu laqawlu rasūlin karīmi
69:41 ›
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَاعِرࣲۚ قَلِیلࣰا مَّا تُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٤١
Dr. Munir Munshey
(Certainly)! it is not the word of a poet. Little do you believe
wamā huwa biqawli shāʿirin qalīlan mā tu'minūn
69:42 ›
وَلَا بِقَوۡلِ كَاهِنࣲۚ قَلِیلࣰا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٤٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
Nor is it the word of a fortuneteller. Seldom do you ponder
walā biqawli kāhinin qalīlan mā tadhakkarūn
69:43 ›
تَنزِیلࣱ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٤٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
It is the revelation from the Lord of the universe
tanzīlun min rabbi l-ʿālamīn
69:44 ›
وَلَوۡ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَیۡنَا بَعۡضَ ٱلۡأَقَاوِیلِ ۝٤٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
Had he (the prophet) purported (and fabricated) lies about Us
walaw taqawwala ʿalaynā baʿḍa l-aqāwīl
69:45 ›
لَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُ بِٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٤٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
We would have seized him by his right hand
la-akhadhnā min'hu bil-yamīn
69:46 ›
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعۡنَا مِنۡهُ ٱلۡوَتِینَ ۝٤٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
And would have cut off his main vein
thumma laqaṭaʿnā min'hu l-watīn
69:47 ›
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنۡ أَحَدٍ عَنۡهُ حَـٰجِزِینَ ۝٤٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
(Absolutely) no one among you could have kept Us away from him
famā minkum min aḥadin ʿanhu ḥājizīn
69:48 ›
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذۡكِرَةࣱ لِّلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٤٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
It is certainly a reminder for the righteous
wa-innahu latadhkiratun lil'muttaqīn
69:49 ›
وَإِنَّا لَنَعۡلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِینَ ۝٤٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
Of course We know, that among you are those who disbelieve
wa-innā lanaʿlamu anna minkum mukadhibīn
69:50 ›
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسۡرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٥٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
Thus, this Qur´an will definitely be the source of anguish for the disbelievers
wa-innahu laḥasratun ʿalā l-kāfirīn
69:51 ›
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلۡیَقِینِ ۝٥١
Dr. Munir Munshey
It is the veritable truth _ (a statement of absolute certainty)
wa-innahu laḥaqqu l-yaqīn
69:52 ›
فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٥٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
So glorify the name of the Almighty, your Lord
fasabbiḥ bi-is'mi rabbika l-ʿaẓīm
