وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ wal-naṣārā

أَبْنَٰٓؤُا۟ abnāu
(the) children Noun
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi
(of) Allah Noun
وَأَحِبَّٰٓؤُهُۥ wa-aḥibbāuhu
and His beloved Noun
قُلْ qul
Say V
فَلِمَ falima
Then why Noun
يُعَذِّبُكُم yuʿadhibukum
(does He) punish you V
بِذُنُوبِكُم bidhunūbikum
for your sins Noun
بَلْ bal
Nay Prep
أَنتُم antum
you (are) Noun
بَشَرٌ basharun
human beings Noun
مِّمَّنْ mimman
from among (those) Prep
خَلَقَ khalaqa
He created V
يَغْفِرُ yaghfiru
He forgives V
لِمَن liman
[for] whom Noun
يَشَآءُ yashāu
He wills V
وَيُعَذِّبُ wayuʿadhibu
and punishes V
مَن man
whom Noun
يَشَآءُ yashāu
He wills V
وَلِلَّهِ walillahi
And for Allah Noun
مُلْكُ mul'ku
(is the) dominion Noun
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens Noun
وَٱلْأَرْضِ wal-arḍi
and the earth Noun
وَمَا wamā
and whatever Noun
بَيْنَهُمَا baynahumā
(is) between them Noun
وَإِلَيْهِ wa-ilayhi
and to Him Prep
ٱلْمَصِيرُ l-maṣīru
(is) the final return Noun

The Jews and the Christians say, ‘We are the children of God and His beloved ones.’ Say, ‘Then why does He punish you for your sins? You are merely human beings, part of His creation: He forgives whoever He will and punishes whoever He will. Control of the heavens and earth and all that is between them belongs to Him: all journeys lead to Him.’

وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡیَهُودُ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ نَحۡنُ أَبۡنَـٰۤؤُا۟ ٱللَّهِ وَأَحِبَّـٰۤؤُهُۥۚ قُلۡ فَلِمَ یُعَذِّبُكُم بِذُنُوبِكُمۖ بَلۡ أَنتُم بَشَرࣱ مِّمَّنۡ خَلَقَۚ یَغۡفِرُ لِمَن یَشَاۤءُ وَیُعَذِّبُ مَن یَشَاۤءُۚ وَلِلَّهِ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۖ وَإِلَیۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ۝١٨

waqālati l-yahūdu wal-naṣārā naḥnu abnāu l-lahi wa-aḥibbāuhu qul falima yuʿadhibukum bidhunūbikum bal antum basharun mimman khalaqa yaghfiru liman yashāu wayuʿadhibu man yashāu walillahi mul'ku l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā baynahumā wa-ilayhi l-maṣīr
