Jonah 10:34 Verb
قُلۡ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَاۤىِٕكُم مَّن یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ ۝٣٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Are there of your 'partners' any who begins creation and then repeats it?" Say, " Allah begins creation and then repeats it, so how are you deluded?"
Abdel Haleem: Ask them, ‘Can any of your partner-gods originate creation, then bring it back to life again in the end?’ Say, ‘It is God that originates creation, and then brings it back to life, so how can you be misled?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: Is there of your partners (whom ye ascribe unto Allah) one that produceth Creation and then reproduceth it? Say: Allah produceth Creation, then reproduceth it. How then, are ye misled
Jonah 10:4 Verb
إِلَیۡهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ جَمِیعࣰاۖ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقًّاۚ إِنَّهُۥ یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥ لِیَجۡزِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِۚ وَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَهُمۡ شَرَابࣱ مِّنۡ حَمِیمࣲ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِیمُۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): To Him is your return all together. [It is] the promise of Allah [which is] truth. Indeed, He begins the [process of] creation and then repeats it that He may reward those who have believed and done righteous deeds, in justice. But those who disbelieved will have a drink of scalding water and a painful punishment for what they used to deny
Abdel Haleem: It is to Him you shall all return––that is a true promise from God. It was He who created [you] in the first place, and He will do so again, so that He may justly reward those who believe and do good deeds. But the disbelievers will have a drink of scalding water, and agonizing torment, because they persistently disbelieved
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Unto Him is the return of all of you; it is a promise of Allah in truth. Lo! He produceth creation, then reproduceth it, that He may reward those who believe and do good works with equity; while, as for those who disbelieve, theirs will be a boiling drink and painful doom because they disbelieved
Abraham 14:13 Verb
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِرُسُلِهِمۡ لَنُخۡرِجَنَّكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِنَاۤ أَوۡ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِی مِلَّتِنَاۖ فَأَوۡحَىٰۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ لَنُهۡلِكَنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our religion." So their Lord inspired to them, "We will surely destroy the wrongdoers
Abdel Haleem: The disbelievers said to their messengers, ‘We shall expel you from our land unless you return to our religion.’ But their Lord inspired the messengers: ‘We shall destroy the evildoers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And those who disbelieved said unto their messengers: Verily we will drive you out from our land, unless ye return to our religion. Then their Lord inspired them, (saying): Verily we shall destroy the wrong-doers
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:51 Verb
أَوۡ خَلۡقࣰا مِّمَّا یَكۡبُرُ فِی صُدُورِكُمۡۚ فَسَیَقُولُونَ مَن یُعِیدُنَاۖ قُلِ ٱلَّذِی فَطَرَكُمۡ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةࣲۚ فَسَیُنۡغِضُونَ إِلَیۡكَ رُءُوسَهُمۡ وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هُوَۖ قُلۡ عَسَىٰۤ أَن یَكُونَ قَرِیبࣰا ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Or [any] creation of that which is great within your breasts." And they will say, "Who will restore us?" Say, "He who brought you forth the first time." Then they will nod their heads toward you and say, "When is that?" Say, "Perhaps it will be soon
Abdel Haleem: or any other substance you think hard to bring to life.’ Then they will say, ‘Who will bring us back?’ Say, ‘The One who created you the first time.’ Then they will shake their heads at you and say, ‘When will that be?’ Say, ‘It may well be very soon
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Or some created thing that is yet greater in your thoughts! Then they will say: Who shall bring us back (to life). Say: He Who created you at the first. Then will they shake their heads at thee, and say: When will it be? Say: It will perhaps be soon
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:69 Verb
أَمۡ أَمِنتُمۡ أَن یُعِیدَكُمۡ فِیهِ تَارَةً أُخۡرَىٰ فَیُرۡسِلَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ قَاصِفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلرِّیحِ فَیُغۡرِقَكُم بِمَا كَفَرۡتُمۡ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا۟ لَكُمۡ عَلَیۡنَا بِهِۦ تَبِیعࣰا ۝٦٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Or do you feel secure that He will not send you back into the sea another time and send upon you a hurricane of wind and drown you for what you denied? Then you would not find for yourselves against Us an avenger
Abdel Haleem: Or can you be sure that He will not send you back out to sea, and send a violent storm against you to drown you for being so ungrateful? You will find no helper against Us there
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Or feel ye secure that He will not return you to that (plight) a second time, and send against you a hurricane of wind and drown you for your thanklessness, and then ye will not find therein that ye have any avenger against Us
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:8 Verb
عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمۡ أَن یَرۡحَمَكُمۡۚ وَإِنۡ عُدتُّمۡ عُدۡنَاۘ وَجَعَلۡنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ حَصِیرًا ۝٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Then Allah said], "It is expected, [if you repent], that your Lord will have mercy upon you. But if you return [to sin], We will return [to punishment]. And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison-bed."
Abdel Haleem: Your Lord may yet have mercy on you, but if you do the same again, so shall We: We have made Hell a prison for those who defy [Our warning]
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: It may be that your Lord will have mercy on you, but if ye repeat (the crime) We shall repeat (the punishment), and We have appointed hell a dungeon for the disbelievers
The Cave 18:20 Verb
إِنَّهُمۡ إِن یَظۡهَرُوا۟ عَلَیۡكُمۡ یَرۡجُمُوكُمۡ أَوۡ یُعِیدُوكُمۡ فِی مِلَّتِهِمۡ وَلَن تُفۡلِحُوۤا۟ إِذًا أَبَدࣰا ۝٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, if they come to know of you, they will stone you or return you to their religion. And never would you succeed, then - ever."
Abdel Haleem: if they found you out, they would stone you or force you to return to their religion, where you would never come to any good.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: For they, if they should come to know of you, will stone you or turn you back to their religion; then ye will never prosper
Ta Ha 20:21 Verb
قَالَ خُذۡهَا وَلَا تَخَفۡۖ سَنُعِیدُهَا سِیرَتَهَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ ۝٢١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [ Allah ] said, "Seize it and fear not; We will return it to its former condition
Abdel Haleem: He said, ‘Pick it up without fear: We shall turn it back into its former state
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: Grasp it and fear not. We shall return it to its former state
Ta Ha 20:55 Verb
۞ مِنۡهَا خَلَقۡنَـٰكُمۡ وَفِیهَا نُعِیدُكُمۡ وَمِنۡهَا نُخۡرِجُكُمۡ تَارَةً أُخۡرَىٰ ۝٥٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time
Abdel Haleem: From the earth We created you, into it We shall return you, and from it We shall raise you a second time
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Thereof We created you, and thereunto We return you, and thence We bring you forth a second time
The Prophets 21:104 Verb
یَوۡمَ نَطۡوِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ كَطَیِّ ٱلسِّجِلِّ لِلۡكُتُبِۚ كَمَا بَدَأۡنَاۤ أَوَّلَ خَلۡقࣲ نُّعِیدُهُۥۚ وَعۡدًا عَلَیۡنَاۤۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝١٠٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it
Abdel Haleem: On that Day, We shall roll up the skies as a writer rolls up [his] scrolls. We shall reproduce creation just as We produced it the first time: this is Our binding promise. We shall certainly do all these things
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The Day when We shall roll up the heavens as a recorder rolleth up a written scroll. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise (binding) upon Us. Lo! We are to perform it
The Pilgrimage 22:22 Verb
كُلَّمَاۤ أَرَادُوۤا۟ أَن یَخۡرُجُوا۟ مِنۡهَا مِنۡ غَمٍّ أُعِیدُوا۟ فِیهَا وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلۡحَرِیقِ ۝٢٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Every time they want to get out of Hellfire from anguish, they will be returned to it, and [it will be said], "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire!"
Abdel Haleem: whenever, in their anguish, they try to escape, they will be pushed back in and told, ‘Taste the suffering of the Fire.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning
The Believers 23:107 Verb
رَبَّنَاۤ أَخۡرِجۡنَا مِنۡهَا فَإِنۡ عُدۡنَا فَإِنَّا ظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝١٠٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to evil], we would indeed be wrongdoers."
Abdel Haleem: Lord, take us away from this and if we go back to our old ways, then we shall really be evildoers.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Our Lord! Oh, bring us forth from hence! If we return (to evil) then indeed we shall be wrong-doers
The Light 24:17 Verb
یَعِظُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ أَن تَعُودُوا۟ لِمِثۡلِهِۦۤ أَبَدًا إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah warns you against returning to the likes of this [conduct], ever, if you should be believers
Abdel Haleem: God warns you never to do anything like this again, if you are true believers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah admonisheth you that ye repeat not the like thereof ever, if ye are (in truth) believers
The Ant, The Ants 27:64 Verb
أَمَّن یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥ وَمَن یَرۡزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَءِلَـٰهࣱ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ قُلۡ هَاتُوا۟ بُرۡهَـٰنَكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٦٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Is He [not best] who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there a deity with Allah ? Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."
Abdel Haleem: Who is it that creates life and reproduces it? Who is it that gives you provision from the heavens and earth? Is it another god beside God?’ Say, ‘Show me your evidence then, if what you say is true.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Is not He (best) Who produceth creation, then reproduceth it, and Who provideth for you from the heaven and the earth? Is there any Allah beside Allah? Say: Bring your proof, if ye are truthful
The Spider 29:19 Verb
أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ كَیۡفَ یُبۡدِئُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ذَ ٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ یَسِیرࣱ ۝١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Have they not considered how Allah begins creation and then repeats it? Indeed that, for Allah , is easy
Abdel Haleem: Do they not see that God brings life into being and reproduces it? Truly this is easy for God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: See they not how Allah produceth creation, then reproduceth it? Lo! for Allah that is easy
The Cow 2:275 Verb
ٱلَّذِینَ یَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ لَا یَقُومُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا یَقُومُ ٱلَّذِی یَتَخَبَّطُهُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسِّۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡبَیۡعُ مِثۡلُ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ۗ وَأَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡبَیۡعَ وَحَرَّمَ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ۚ فَمَن جَاۤءَهُۥ مَوۡعِظَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ فَٱنتَهَىٰ فَلَهُۥ مَا سَلَفَ وَأَمۡرُهُۥۤ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَمَنۡ عَادَ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٢٧٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Those who consume interest cannot stand [on the Day of Resurrection] except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity. That is because they say, "Trade is [just] like interest." But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest. So whoever has received an admonition from his Lord and desists may have what is past, and his affair rests with Allah . But whoever returns to [dealing in interest or usury] - those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein
Abdel Haleem: But those who take usury will rise up on the Day of Resurrection like someone tormented by Satan’s touch. That is because they say, ‘Trade and usury are the same,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Those who swallow usury cannot rise up save as he ariseth whom the devil hath prostrated by (his) touch. That is because they say: Trade is just like usury; whereas Allah permitteth trading and forbiddeth usury. He unto whom an admonition from his Lord cometh, and (he) refraineth (in obedience thereto), he shall keep (the profits of) that which is past, and his affair (henceforth) is with Allah. As for him who returneth (to usury) - Such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein
The Romans, The Byzantines 30:11 Verb
ٱللَّهُ یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥ ثُمَّ إِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah begins creation; then He will repeat it; then to Him you will be returned
Abdel Haleem: God brings creation into being; in the end He will reproduce it and it is to Him you will be recalled
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah produceth creation, then He reproduceth it, then unto Him ye will be returned
The Romans, The Byzantines 30:27 Verb
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی یَبۡدَؤُا۟ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥ وَهُوَ أَهۡوَنُ عَلَیۡهِۚ وَلَهُ ٱلۡمَثَلُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٢٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And it is He who begins creation; then He repeats it, and that is [even] easier for Him. To Him belongs the highest attribute in the heavens and earth. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise
Abdel Haleem: He is the One who originates creation and will do it again- this is even easier for Him. He is above all comparison in the heavens and earth; He is the Almighty, the All Wise
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He it is Who produceth creation, then reproduceth it, and it is easier for Him. His is the Sublime Similitude in the heavens and the earth. He is the Mighty, the Wise
The Prostration, Worship, Adoration, The Adoration 32:20 Verb
وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ فَسَقُوا۟ فَمَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُۖ كُلَّمَاۤ أَرَادُوۤا۟ أَن یَخۡرُجُوا۟ مِنۡهَاۤ أُعِیدُوا۟ فِیهَا وَقِیلَ لَهُمۡ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ٱلَّذِی كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But as for those who defiantly disobeyed, their refuge is the Fire. Every time they wish to emerge from it, they will be returned to it while it is said to them, "Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny."
Abdel Haleem: As for those who defy God, their home will be the Fire. Whenever they try to escape it, they will be driven back into it, and they will be told, ‘Taste the torment of the Fire, which you persistently denied.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And as for those who do evil, their retreat is the Fire. Whenever they desire to issue forth from thence, they are brought back thither. Unto them it is said: Taste the torment of the Fire which ye used to deny
Saba, Sheba 34:49 Verb
قُلۡ جَاۤءَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَمَا یُبۡدِئُ ٱلۡبَـٰطِلُ وَمَا یُعِیدُ ۝٤٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "The truth has come, and falsehood can neither begin [anything] nor repeat [it]."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘The Truth has come; falsehood is powerless.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: The Truth hath come, and falsehood showeth not its face and will not return
Ya Sin, Ya-Seen 36:39 Verb
وَٱلۡقَمَرَ قَدَّرۡنَـٰهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَٱلۡعُرۡجُونِ ٱلۡقَدِیمِ ۝٣٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk
Abdel Haleem: We have determined phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shrivelled palm-leaf
She That Disputeth, The Pleading Woman, She Who Pleaded 58:3 Verb
وَٱلَّذِینَ یُظَـٰهِرُونَ مِن نِّسَاۤىِٕهِمۡ ثُمَّ یَعُودُونَ لِمَا قَالُوا۟ فَتَحۡرِیرُ رَقَبَةࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن یَتَمَاۤسَّاۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ تُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِیرࣱ ۝٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And those who pronounce thihar from their wives and then [wish to] go back on what they said - then [there must be] the freeing of a slave before they touch one another. That is what you are admonished thereby; and Allah is Acquainted with what you do
Abdel Haleem: Those of you who say such a thing to their wives, then go back on what they have said, must free a slave before the couple may touch one another again––this is what you are commanded to do, and God is fully aware of what you do––
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Those who put away their wives (by saying they are as their mothers) and afterward would go back on that which they have said, (the penalty) in that case (is) the freeing of a slave before they touch one another. Unto this ye are exhorted; and Allah is Informed of what ye do
She That Disputeth, The Pleading Woman, She Who Pleaded 58:8 Verb
أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِینَ نُهُوا۟ عَنِ ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ ثُمَّ یَعُودُونَ لِمَا نُهُوا۟ عَنۡهُ وَیَتَنَـٰجَوۡنَ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَ ٰنِ وَمَعۡصِیَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِۖ وَإِذَا جَاۤءُوكَ حَیَّوۡكَ بِمَا لَمۡ یُحَیِّكَ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ وَیَقُولُونَ فِیۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَوۡلَا یُعَذِّبُنَا ٱللَّهُ بِمَا نَقُولُۚ حَسۡبُهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُ یَصۡلَوۡنَهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ۝٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Have you not considered those who were forbidden from private conversation, then they return to that which they were forbidden and converse among themselves about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger? And when they come to you, they greet you with that [word] by which Allah does not greet you and say among themselves, "Why does Allah not punish us for what we say?" Sufficient for them is Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the destination
Abdel Haleem: Have you not seen how those who have been forbidden to hold secret conversations go back afterwards and hold them, and conspire with one another in what is sinful, hostile, and disobedient to the Messenger? When they come to you they greet you with words God has never used to greet you, and say inwardly, ‘Why does God not punish us for what we say?’ Hell will be punishment enough for them: they will burn there- an evil destination
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Hast thou not observed those who were forbidden conspiracy and afterward returned to that which they had been forbidden, and (now) conspire together for crime and wrongdoing and disobedience toward the messenger? And when they come unto thee they greet thee with a greeting wherewith Allah greeteth thee not, and say within themselves: Why should Allah punish us for what we say? Hell will suffice them; they will feel the heat thereof - a hapless journey's end
The Table, The Table Spread 5:95 Verb
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقۡتُلُوا۟ ٱلصَّیۡدَ وَأَنتُمۡ حُرُمࣱۚ وَمَن قَتَلَهُۥ مِنكُم مُّتَعَمِّدࣰا فَجَزَاۤءࣱ مِّثۡلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ ٱلنَّعَمِ یَحۡكُمُ بِهِۦ ذَوَا عَدۡلࣲ مِّنكُمۡ هَدۡیَۢا بَـٰلِغَ ٱلۡكَعۡبَةِ أَوۡ كَفَّـٰرَةࣱ طَعَامُ مَسَـٰكِینَ أَوۡ عَدۡلُ ذَ ٰلِكَ صِیَامࣰا لِّیَذُوقَ وَبَالَ أَمۡرِهِۦۗ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا سَلَفَۚ وَمَنۡ عَادَ فَیَنتَقِمُ ٱللَّهُ مِنۡهُۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِیزࣱ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ ۝٩٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O you who have believed, do not kill game while you are in the state of ihram. And whoever of you kills it intentionally - the penalty is an equivalent from sacrificial animals to what he killed, as judged by two just men among you as an offering [to Allah ] delivered to the Ka'bah, or an expiation: the feeding of needy people or the equivalent of that in fasting, that he may taste the consequence of his deed. Allah has pardoned what is past; but whoever returns [to violation], then Allah will take retribution from him. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution
Abdel Haleem: You who believe, do not kill game while you are in the state of consecration [for pilgrimage]. If someone does so intentionally the penalty is an offering of a domestic animal brought to the Kaba, equivalent- as judged by two just men among you- to the one he has killed; alternatively, he may atone by feeding the needy or by fasting an equivalent number of days, so that he may taste the full gravity of his deed. God forgives what is past, but if anyone re-offends, God will exact the penalty from him: God is mighty, and capable of exacting the penalty
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O ye who believe! Kill no wild game while ye are on the pilgrimage. Whoso of you killeth it of set purpose he shall pay its forfeit in the equivalent of that which he hath killed, of domestic animals, the judge to be two men among you known for justice, (the forfeit) to be brought as an offering to the Ka'bah; or, for expiation, he shall feed poor persons, or the equivalent thereof in fasting, that he may taste the evil consequences of his deed. Allah forgiveth whatever (of this kind) may have happened in the past, but whoso relapseth, Allah will take retribution from him. Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite (the wrong)
Cattle, Livestock 6:28 Verb
بَلۡ بَدَا لَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُخۡفُونَ مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَلَوۡ رُدُّوا۟ لَعَادُوا۟ لِمَا نُهُوا۟ عَنۡهُ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝٢٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But what they concealed before has [now] appeared to them. And even if they were returned, they would return to that which they were forbidden; and indeed, they are liars
Abdel Haleem: No! The truth they used to hide will become all too clear to them. Even if they were brought back, they would only return to the very thing that was forbidden to them- they are such liars
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Nay, but that hath become clear unto them which before they used to hide. And if they were sent back they would return unto that which they are forbidden. Lo! they are liars
Noah 71:18 Verb
ثُمَّ یُعِیدُكُمۡ فِیهَا وَیُخۡرِجُكُمۡ إِخۡرَاجࣰا ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction
Abdel Haleem: how He will return you into it and then bring you out again
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:29 Verb
قُلۡ أَمَرَ رَبِّی بِٱلۡقِسۡطِۖ وَأَقِیمُوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمۡ عِندَ كُلِّ مَسۡجِدࣲ وَٱدۡعُوهُ مُخۡلِصِینَ لَهُ ٱلدِّینَۚ كَمَا بَدَأَكُمۡ تَعُودُونَ ۝٢٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, [O Muhammad], "My Lord has ordered justice and that you maintain yourselves [in worship of Him] at every place [or time] of prostration, and invoke Him, sincere to Him in religion." Just as He originated you, you will return [to life]
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘My Lord commands righteousness. Direct your worship straight to Him wherever you pray; call on Him; devote your religion entirely to Him. Just as He first created you, so you will come back [to life] again.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: My Lord enjoineth justice. And set your faces upright (toward Him) at every place of worship and call upon Him, making religion pure for Him (only). As He brought you into being, so return ye (unto Him)
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:88 Verb
۞ قَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦ لَنُخۡرِجَنَّكَ یَـٰشُعَیۡبُ وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَكَ مِن قَرۡیَتِنَاۤ أَوۡ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِی مِلَّتِنَاۚ قَالَ أَوَ لَوۡ كُنَّا كَـٰرِهِینَ ۝٨٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Said the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people, "We will surely evict you, O Shu'ayb, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion." He said, "Even if we were unwilling?"
Abdel Haleem: His people’s arrogant leaders said, ‘Shuayb, we will expel you and your fellow believers from our town unless you return to our religion.’ He said, ‘What! Even if we detest it
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The chieftains of his people, who were scornful, said: Surely we will drive thee out, O Shu'eyb, and those who believe with thee, from our township, unless ye return to our religion. He said: Even though we hate it
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:89 Verb
قَدِ ٱفۡتَرَیۡنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا إِنۡ عُدۡنَا فِی مِلَّتِكُم بَعۡدَ إِذۡ نَجَّىٰنَا ٱللَّهُ مِنۡهَاۚ وَمَا یَكُونُ لَنَاۤ أَن نَّعُودَ فِیهَاۤ إِلَّاۤ أَن یَشَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّنَاۚ وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَیۡءٍ عِلۡمًاۚ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَاۚ رَبَّنَا ٱفۡتَحۡ بَیۡنَنَا وَبَیۡنَ قَوۡمِنَا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡفَـٰتِحِینَ ۝٨٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): We would have invented against Allah a lie if we returned to your religion after Allah had saved us from it. And it is not for us to return to it except that Allah , our Lord, should will. Our Lord has encompassed all things in knowledge. Upon Allah we have relied. Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision."
Abdel Haleem: If we were to return to your religion after God has saved us from it, we would be inventing lies about Him: there is no way we could return to it- unless by the will of God our Lord: in His knowledge He comprehends everything. We put our trust in God. Our Lord, expose the truth [and judge] between us and our people, for You are the best judge.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: We should have invented a lie against Allah if we returned to your religion after Allah hath rescued us from it. It is not for us to return to it unless Allah our Lord should (so) will. Our Lord comprehendeth all things in knowledge. In Allah do we put our trust. Our Lord! Decide with truth between us and our folk, for Thou art the best of those who make decision
The Mansions of the Stars, The Constellations 85:13 Verb
إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats
Abdel Haleem: it is He who brings people to life, and will restore them to life again––
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth
The Spoils of War 8:19 Verb
إِن تَسۡتَفۡتِحُوا۟ فَقَدۡ جَاۤءَكُمُ ٱلۡفَتۡحُۖ وَإِن تَنتَهُوا۟ فَهُوَ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡۖ وَإِن تَعُودُوا۟ نَعُدۡ وَلَن تُغۡنِیَ عَنكُمۡ فِئَتُكُمۡ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَوۡ كَثُرَتۡ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): If you [disbelievers] seek the victory - the defeat has come to you. And if you desist [from hostilities], it is best for you; but if you return [to war], We will return, and never will you be availed by your [large] company at all, even if it should increase; and [that is] because Allah is with the believers
Abdel Haleem: [Disbelievers], if you were seeking a decision, now you have witnessed one: if you stop here, it will be better for you. If you return, so shall We, and your forces, though greater in number, will be of no use to you. God is with the believers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (O Qureysh!) If ye sought a judgment, now hath the judgment come unto you. And if ye cease (from persecuting the believers) it will be better for you, but if ye return (to the attack) We also shall return. And your host will avail you naught, however numerous it be, and (know) that Allah is with the believers (in His Guidance)
The Spoils of War 8:38 Verb
قُل لِّلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِن یَنتَهُوا۟ یُغۡفَرۡ لَهُم مَّا قَدۡ سَلَفَ وَإِن یَعُودُوا۟ فَقَدۡ مَضَتۡ سُنَّتُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٣٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them. But if they return [to hostility] - then the precedent of the former [rebellious] peoples has already taken place
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet], tell the disbelievers that if they desist their past will be forgiven, but if they persist, they have an example in the fate of those who went before
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Tell those who disbelieve that if they cease (from persecution of believers) that which is past will be forgiven them; but if they return (thereto) then the example of the men of old hath already gone (before them, for a warning)

Hud 11:50 Noun
وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمۡ هُودࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۖ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا مُفۡتَرُونَ ۝٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. You are not but inventors [of falsehood]
Abdel Haleem: To the Ad, We sent their brother, Hud. He said, ‘My people, worship God. You have no god other than Him; you are only making up lies
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And unto (the tribe of) A'ad (We sent) their brother, Hud. He said: O my people! Serve Allah! Ye have no other Allah save Him. Lo! ye do but invent
Hud 11:59 Noun
وَتِلۡكَ عَادࣱۖ جَحَدُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَعَصَوۡا۟ رُسُلَهُۥ وَٱتَّبَعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِیدࣲ ۝٥٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And that was 'Aad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant
Abdel Haleem: These were the Ad: they rejected their Lord’s signs, disobeyed His messengers, and followed the command of every obstinate tyrant
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And such were A'ad. They denied the revelations of their Lord and flouted His messengers and followed the command of every froward potentate
Hud 11:60 Noun
وَأُتۡبِعُوا۟ فِی هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا لَعۡنَةࣰ وَیَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۗ أَلَاۤ إِنَّ عَادࣰا كَفَرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمۡۗ أَلَا بُعۡدࣰا لِّعَادࣲ قَوۡمِ هُودࣲ ۝٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they were [therefore] followed in this world with a curse and [as well] on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, 'Aad denied their Lord; then away with 'Aad, the people of Hud
Abdel Haleem: They were rejected in this life and so they shall be on the Day of Judgement. Yes, the 'Ad denied their Lord- so away with the Ad, the people of Hud
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And a curse was made to follow them in the world and on the Day of Resurrection. Lo! A'ad disbelieved in their Lord. A far removal for A'ad, the folk of Hud
Abraham 14:9 Noun
أَلَمۡ یَأۡتِكُمۡ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ قَوۡمِ نُوحࣲ وَعَادࣲ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِینَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُهُمۡ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۚ جَاۤءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ فَرَدُّوۤا۟ أَیۡدِیَهُمۡ فِیۤ أَفۡوَ ٰهِهِمۡ وَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا كَفَرۡنَا بِمَاۤ أُرۡسِلۡتُم بِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَفِی شَكࣲّ مِّمَّا تَدۡعُونَنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ مُرِیبࣲ ۝٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Has there not reached you the news of those before you - the people of Noah and 'Aad and Thamud and those after them? No one knows them but Allah . Their messengers brought them clear proofs, but they returned their hands to their mouths and said, "Indeed, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and indeed we are, about that to which you invite us, in disquieting doubt."
Abdel Haleem: Have you not heard about those who went before you, the people of Noah, Ad, Thamud, and those who lived after them, known only to God? Their messengers came to them with clear proof, but they tried to silence them, saying, ‘We do not believe the message with which you were sent. We have disturbing doubts about what you are asking us to do.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Hath not the history of those before you reached you: the folk of Noah, and (the tribes of) A'ad and Thamud, and those after them? None save Allah knoweth them. Their messengers came unto them with clear proofs, but they thrust their hands into their mouths, and said: Lo! we disbelieve in that wherewith ye have been sent, and lo! we are in grave doubt concerning that to which ye call us
The Pilgrimage 22:42 Noun
وَإِن یُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدۡ كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحࣲ وَعَادࣱ وَثَمُودُ ۝٤٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if they deny you, [O Muhammad] - so, before them, did the people of Noah and 'Aad and Thamud deny [their prophets]
Abdel Haleem: If they reject you [Prophet], so did the people of Noah before them, and those of Ad, Thamud
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If they deny thee (Muhammad), even so the folk of Noah, and (the tribes of) A'ad and Thamud, before thee, denied (Our messengers)
The Criterion, The Standard 25:38 Noun
وَعَادࣰا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَأَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلرَّسِّ وَقُرُونَۢا بَیۡنَ ذَ ٰلِكَ كَثِیرࣰا ۝٣٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud and the companions of the well and many generations between them
Abdel Haleem: as We did for the people of Ad, Thamud, and al-Rass, and many generations in between

The Poets 26:123 Noun
كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٌ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): 'Aad denied the messenger
Abdel Haleem: The people of Ad, too, called the messengers liars
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah)
The Story, Stories, The Narrative 28:85 Noun
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِی فَرَضَ عَلَیۡكَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لَرَاۤدُّكَ إِلَىٰ مَعَادࣲۚ قُل رَّبِّیۤ أَعۡلَمُ مَن جَاۤءَ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَمَنۡ هُوَ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٨٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, [O Muhammad], He who imposed upon you the Qur'an will take you back to a place of return. Say, "My Lord is most knowing of who brings guidance and who is in clear error."
Abdel Haleem: He who has made the Quran binding on you [Prophet] will bring you back home. So say, ‘My Lord knows best who has brought true guidance and who is blatantly astray.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! He Who hath given thee the Qur'an for a law will surely bring thee home again. Say: My Lord is Best Aware of him who bringeth guidance and him who is in error manifest
The Spider 29:38 Noun
وَعَادࣰا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَقَد تَّبَیَّنَ لَكُم مِّن مَّسَـٰكِنِهِمۡۖ وَزَیَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ فَصَدَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِیلِ وَكَانُوا۟ مُسۡتَبۡصِرِینَ ۝٣٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud, and it has become clear to you from their [ruined] dwellings. And Satan had made pleasing to them their deeds and averted them from the path, and they were endowed with perception
Abdel Haleem: [Remember] the tribes of 'Ad and Thamud: their history is made clear to you by [what is left of] their dwelling places. Satan made their foul deeds seem alluring to them and barred them from the right way, though they were capable of seeing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And (the tribes of) A'ad and Thamud! (Their fate) is manifest unto you from their (ruined and deserted) dwellings. Satan made their deeds seem fair unto them and so debarred them from the Way, though they were keen observers
The Letter Sad 38:12 Noun
كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحࣲ وَعَادࣱ وَفِرۡعَوۡنُ ذُو ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ ۝١٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes
Abdel Haleem: The people of Noah, Ad, and firmly-supported Pharaoh rejected their prophets before them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:31 Noun
مِثۡلَ دَأۡبِ قَوۡمِ نُوحࣲ وَعَادࣲ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِینَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۚ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ یُرِیدُ ظُلۡمࣰا لِّلۡعِبَادِ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Like the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them. And Allah wants no injustice for [His] servants
Abdel Haleem: the fate of the people of Noah, Ad, Thamud, and those who came after them- God never wills injustice on His creatures
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: A plight like that of Noah's folk, and A'ad and Thamud, and those after them, and Allah willeth no injustice for (His) slaves

فَإِنۡ أَعۡرَضُوا۟ فَقُلۡ أَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ صَـٰعِقَةࣰ مِّثۡلَ صَـٰعِقَةِ عَادࣲ وَثَمُودَ ۝١٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But if they turn away, then say, "I have warned you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt [that struck] 'Aad and Thamud
Abdel Haleem: If they turn away, say, ‘I have warned you about a blast like the one which struck 'Ad and Thamud
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: But if they turn away, then say: I warn you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt (which fell of old upon the tribes) of A'ad and Thamud
Explained in Detail, Revelations Well Expounded 41:15 Noun
فَأَمَّا عَادࣱ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَیۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَقَالُوا۟ مَنۡ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةًۖ أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَهُمۡ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةࣰۖ وَكَانُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا یَجۡحَدُونَ ۝١٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): As for 'Aad, they were arrogant upon the earth without right and said, "Who is greater than us in strength?" Did they not consider that Allah who created them was greater than them in strength? But they were rejecting Our signs
Abdel Haleem: The people of 'Ad behaved arrogantly throughout the land without any right, saying, “Who could be stronger than us?” Did they not realize that God, who created them, was stronger than them?’ They continued to reject Our message
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: As for A'ad, they were arrogant in the land without right, and they said: Who is mightier than us in power? Could they not see that Allah Who created them, He was mightier than them in power? And they denied Our revelations
Smoke, The Evident Smoke 44:15 Noun
إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابِ قَلِیلًاۚ إِنَّكُمۡ عَاۤىِٕدُونَ ۝١٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief]
Abdel Haleem: We shall hold the torment back for a while ––you are sure to return [to Us]––
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief)
The Wind-curved Sandhills, The Dunes, The Sandhills 46:21 Noun
۞ وَٱذۡكُرۡ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذۡ أَنذَرَ قَوۡمَهُۥ بِٱلۡأَحۡقَافِ وَقَدۡ خَلَتِ ٱلنُّذُرُ مِنۢ بَیۡنِ یَدَیۡهِ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِۦۤ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝٢١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And mention, [O Muhammad], the brother of 'Aad, when he warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except Allah . Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."
Abdel Haleem: Mention [Hud] of the tribe of Ad: he warned his people among the sand dunes- other warners have come and gone both before and after him- ‘ Worship no one but God: I fear for you, that you will be punished on a terrible Day,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And make mention (O Muhammad) of the brother of A'ad when he warned his folk among the wind-curved sandhills - and verily warners came and went before and after him - saying: Serve none but Allah. Lo! I fear for you the doom of a tremendous Day
The Letter Qaf 50:13 Noun
وَعَادࣱ وَفِرۡعَوۡنُ وَإِخۡوَ ٰنُ لُوطࣲ ۝١٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And 'Aad and Pharaoh and the brothers of Lo
Abdel Haleem: Ad, Pharaoh, Lot
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And (the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh, and the brethren of Lot
The Winnowing Winds, The Scatterers 51:41 Noun
وَفِی عَادٍ إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلرِّیحَ ٱلۡعَقِیمَ ۝٤١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind
Abdel Haleem: There is another sign in the Ad: We sent the life-destroying wind against the
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them
The Star 53:50 Noun
وَأَنَّهُۥۤ أَهۡلَكَ عَادًا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ ۝٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aa
Abdel Haleem: that it was He who destroyed, in their entirety, ancient 'A
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad
The Moon 54:18 Noun
كَذَّبَتۡ عَادࣱ فَكَیۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِی وَنُذُرِ ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning
Abdel Haleem: The people of 'Ad also rejected the truth. How [terrible] was My punishment and [the fulfilment of] My warnings
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings
The Table, The Table Spread 5:114 Noun
قَالَ عِیسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡیَمَ ٱللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَاۤ أَنزِلۡ عَلَیۡنَا مَاۤىِٕدَةࣰ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ تَكُونُ لَنَا عِیدࣰا لِّأَوَّلِنَا وَءَاخِرِنَا وَءَایَةࣰ مِّنكَۖ وَٱرۡزُقۡنَا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰزِقِینَ ۝١١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Said Jesus, the son of Mary, "O Allah , our Lord, send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven to be for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the best of providers."
Abdel Haleem: Jesus, son of Mary, said, ‘Lord, send down to us a feast from heaven so that we can have a festival- the first and last of us- and a sign from You. Provide for us: You are the best provider.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Jesus, son of Mary, said: O Allah, Lord of us! Send down for us a table spread with food from heaven, that it may be a feast for us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and a sign from Thee. Give us sustenance, for Thou art the Best of Sustainers
The Reality, The Inevitable 69:4 Noun
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ وَعَادُۢ بِٱلۡقَارِعَةِ ۝٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity
Abdel Haleem: The people of Thamud and 'Ad denied that the crashing blowwould come
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come
The Reality, The Inevitable 69:6 Noun
وَأَمَّا عَادࣱ فَأُهۡلِكُوا۟ بِرِیحࣲ صَرۡصَرٍ عَاتِیَةࣲ ۝٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent win
Abdel Haleem: Ad was destroyed by a furious win
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:65 Noun
۞ وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمۡ هُودࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٦٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to the 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. Then will you not fear Him?"
Abdel Haleem: To the people of 'Ad We sent their brother, Hud. He said, ‘My people, serve God: you have no god other than Him. Will you not take heed?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And unto (the tribe of) A'ad (We sent) their brother, Hud. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:74 Noun
وَٱذۡكُرُوۤا۟ إِذۡ جَعَلَكُمۡ خُلَفَاۤءَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ عَادࣲ وَبَوَّأَكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِن سُهُولِهَا قُصُورࣰا وَتَنۡحِتُونَ ٱلۡجِبَالَ بُیُوتࣰاۖ فَٱذۡكُرُوۤا۟ ءَالَاۤءَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٧٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And remember when He made you successors after the 'Aad and settled you in the land, [and] you take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve from the mountains, homes. Then remember the favors of Allah and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption."
Abdel Haleem: Remember how He made you heirs after 'Ad and settled you in the land to build yourselves castles on its plains and carve houses out of the mountains: remember God’s blessings and do not spread corruption in the land,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And remember how He made you viceroys after A'ad and gave you station in the earth. Ye choose castles in the plains and hew the mountains into dwellings. So remember (all) the bounties of Allah and do not evil, making mischief in the earth
The Dawn, Daybreak 89:6 Noun
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad
Abdel Haleem: Have you [Prophet] considered how your Lord dealt with [the people] of 'Ad
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad
Repentance 9:70 Noun
أَلَمۡ یَأۡتِهِمۡ نَبَأُ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ قَوۡمِ نُوحࣲ وَعَادࣲ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوۡمِ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ وَأَصۡحَـٰبِ مَدۡیَنَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَـٰتِۚ أَتَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِۖ فَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِیَظۡلِمَهُمۡ وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ یَظۡلِمُونَ ۝٧٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Has there not reached them the news of those before them - the people of Noah and [the tribes of] 'Aad and Thamud and the people of Abraham and the companions of Madyan and the towns overturned? Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. And Allah would never have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves
Abdel Haleem: Have they never heard the stories about their predecessors, the peoples of Noah, Ad, Thamud, Abraham, Midian, and the ruined cities? Their messengers came to them with clear evidence of the truth: God would not deceive them; they deceived themselves
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Hath not the fame of those before them reached them - the folk of Noah, A'ad, Thamud, the folk of Abraham, the dwellers of Midian and the disasters (which befell them)? Their messengers (from Allah) came unto them with proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). So Allah surely wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves
