بَلۡ ظَنَنتُمۡ أَن لَّن یَنقَلِبَ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِیهِمۡ أَبَدࣰا وَزُیِّنَ ذَ ٰلِكَ فِی قُلُوبِكُمۡ وَظَنَنتُمۡ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوۡءِ وَكُنتُمۡ قَوۡمَۢا بُورࣰا ١٢
bal ẓanantum an lan yanqaliba l-rasūlu wal-mu'minūna ilā ahlīhim abadan wazuyyina dhālika fī qulūbikum waẓanantum ẓanna l-sawi wakuntum qawman būra
No! You thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families and this thought warmed your hearts. Your thoughts are evil, for you are corrupt people
Nay, but you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families; and that was made seem fair in their hearts. You thought evil thoughts and you became a useless people for destruction.”
Yea! ye imagined that the apostle and the believers would never return to their households, and that became fair-seeming in your hearts, and ye bethought an evil thought, and ye became a people doomed
In fact you imagined that the Prophet and the faithful would never come back home; and this seemed pleasing to your hearts, and you entertained evil thoughts. You are a people lost
You thought the Rasul and the believers would not return to their families! This seemed pleasing to your consciousness, and thus you assumed a bad assumption and became a people worthy of suffering!
No, you thought that the Messenger and the muminun were not going to return to their families, and that seemed pleasing to your hearts and you thought evil thoughts and you were a blighted people.
Rather you thought that the Apostle and the faithful will not return to their folk ever, and that was made to seem decorous to your hearts, and you entertained evil thoughts, and you were a ruined lot
Indeed you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families (from the Campaign), and this thought was decked out to be appealing in your hearts, and you entertained an evil thought (that God would not help the believers and they would be defeated). You (in thinking so have proved yourselves to be and you) are a people useless and doomed to perish
`(Hypocrites!) Nay, the fact is that you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families. (This was a thought) that was made to appear pleasing to your minds. You entertained an evil thought. And you were a people doomed to perish.
Nay, but you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and that was decked out fair in your hearts, and you thought evil thoughts, and you were a people corrupt.
No, but you assumed that the messenger and the believers never ever return to their families, and that was beautified in your hearts, and you assumed bad thoughts and you became doomed people.
My prayer will not help you at all, if He decides to punish you. The fact of the matter is that you were proud of the wisdom of your action in saving yourselves from the danger into which Mohammad and his supporting believers were going. You are indeed a sinful doomed people.”
“No, you thought that the messenger and the believers would never return to their families, this seemed pleasing in your hearts, and you had terrible thoughts, for you are a lost people.

“Rather you had assumed that the Noble Messenger and the Muslims will never return to their homes, and you thought this as good within your hearts, whereas you had thought evilly; and you were a people about to be ruined.”
Nay you conceived that the messenger and the believers will never return back to their families and that was made seemly in your hearts and you conceived the ill-thought and you were a people of complete destitution.
Truly ye imagined that the apostle and the true believers would never return to their families; and this was prepared in your hearts: But ye imagined an evil imagination; and ye are a corrupt people
"Nay! You rather thought that the messenger and the believers would not ever return to their families, and this was made fair-seeming to your heart, and you thought an evil thought and you were a worthless people."
No, you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and this was made to seem fair in your hearts so you harbored evil thoughts, and so you are a destroyed nation
But ye thought that the Apostle and the faithful could never more come back to their families; and your hearts were pleased at this; and ye thought an evil thought of this expedition, and ye became an undone people
Nay, you thought that the Messenger and the Believers would never return back to their own people — something permanent, and that was made fair-seeming in your hearts, and you did think an evil thought, and you became a nation in bad shape
Nay! You thought that the Messenger would never turn about and the ones who believe to their people ever, and that was made to appear pleasing in your hearts. But you thought a reprehensible thought, and you had been a lost folk.
“No, you thought that the messenger and the believers would never return to their families. That seemed fine in your hearts. You came up with an evil thought. You are a lost people.”
Rather you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families; this fancy seemed pleasing to your hearts. You conceived evil thoughts and thus incurred damnation."
(But the truth is not what you say.) You had imagined that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and this notion was embellished in your hearts. You harboured an evil thought, and you are an immensely evil people."
Nay, you thought that the messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and that was made fair-seeming in your hearts, and your thought an evil thought, and you are a people doomed to perish
No, you expected that the messenger of Allah and the believers will never return to their people, and that was made fair seeming to your hearts, and you expected an evil expectation and you are a people who are lost.
"You but thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families. And you were pleased, in your minds, with this thought. And you conceived an evil thought, and you became a people doomed!"
No, in fact, you thought that the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) and the believers (his Companions) would never return to their families now, and (your ill-commanding selves) made that (thought) seem to your hearts far fascinating. And you imagined a highly evil speculation and became a people bound to perish.
Alas, you thought that the messenger and the believers would not return to their families, and this was deemed pleasant in your hearts, and you thought the worst thoughts; you were a wicked people
Alas, you thought that the messenger and the believers would not return to their families, and this was deemed pleasant in your hearts, and you thought the worst thoughts; you were a wicked people!
Alas, you thought that the messenger and the believers would not return to their families, and this was deemed pleasant in your hearts, and you thought the worst thoughts; you were a wicked people!
But you thought/supposed that the messenger and the believers will never/not return/turn around to their families/relations ever (E), and that was decorated/beautified in your hearts/minds , and you thought/assumed the bad's/evil's thought/assumption, and you were a destroyed/failed nation
Nay, you thought that the Apostle and the believers would never return to their kith and kin: and this seemed goodly to your hearts. And you entertained [such] evil thoughts because you have always been people devoid of all good!”
No indeed, (but) you surmised that the Messenger and the believers would never come over to their own families at all, and that was adorned (i.e., made alluring) in your hearts, and you surmised woeful surmises, and you were a futile people."
Nay, but ye deemed that the messenger and the believers would never return to their own folk, and that was made fairseeming in your hearts, and ye did think an evil thought, and ye were worthless folk
You thought the Messenger and the believers would never ever return to their families and this attracted your hearts and caused you to develop evil suspicions. You are a wrong doing people
But you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never ever return to their families, and it seemed good to your hearts, and you thought an evil thought and became a people who are ruined (by their selfishness)
Nay, but you speculated that the ‘Messenger’ and the ‘Monotheistic Believers’ would never return to their families. And that was decked out fair in your hearts. You speculated evil speculations. And you are a people doomed to perish."
"In fact, you thought that the messenger and the believers would not ever return (from their mission) to see their families, and that thought heartened you. You imagined and anticipated the worst (for them). You are a worthless wicked people!"
Nay, but you speculated that the Messenger and the Monotheistic Believers would never return to their families. And that was decked out fair in your hearts. You speculated evil speculations. And you are a people doomed to perish".
In effect you people thought that the Messenger together with the faithful believers should be caught in the jaws of death and never would they return back safe to their people. This mental anticipation allured your hearts by hopes of relief, and you hugged this evil thought to your hearts and you were a morally depraved people
You thought the Messenger and the believers will never return to their families, and you were delighted with this thought, and you kept thinking these evil thoughts. You are wicked losers.
The truth is: you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families again. And that was made appealing in your hearts. You harboured evil thoughts ˹about Allah˺, and ˹so˺ became a doomed people.”
But you thought that the messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and that appealed to you in your hearts and you thought bad and were ruined as people.
No! You⁴ thought the Apostle and the believers would never return to their people; and with this fancy your hearts were delighted. You harboured evil thoughts and thus incurred damnation
You secretly believed that the messenger and the believers will be defeated and never come back to their families, and this was firmly established in your hearts. You harbored evil thoughts and turned into wicked people.
But you thought that the Messenger and the believers will never return to their families, ever, and this seemed fine to your hearts. You harbored evil thoughts, and were corrupt people."
But you thought that the Messenger and the believers will never return to their families, ever, and this seemed fine to your hearts. You harbored evil thoughts, and were corrupt people."
Nay, but you assumed that the Messenger and the believers will never return back to their families, and that was prettified in your cores; and you assumed the bad assumption and were a kinfolk who ruined.
Nay, you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never come back to their folk and families. And it was made pleasing in your hearts that you did think evil, for, you are a people devoid of virtue."
Nay! you rather thought that the Messenger and the believers would not return to their families ever, and that was made fairseeming to your hearts and you thought an evil thought and you were a people doomed to perish

Nay, but you thought the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and that was made to seem fair in your hearts. You thought an evil thought and were a people ruined.
"No, you thought that the Messenger (the Prophet) and the believers would never return to their families; And this seemed pleasing in your hearts, and you thought an evil thought, and you are people lost."
You assumed that the Messenger and the believers would not return to their families, which delighted your hearts. You harbored malicious thoughts, and thus, you became a doomed people.
But you thought that the Messenger and the believers will never return to their families, and this seemed fine to your hearts; and you harbored evil thoughts, and were uncivilized people
But you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, ever, and that was made pleasing in your hearts. And you assumed an assumption of evil and became a people ruined."
Nay, you thought that the messenger and the believers would not return to their families ever; and that was beautified in your hearts. And you thought the thought of evil, and you were corrupt people.
