51:1 ›
وَٱلذَّ ٰرِیَـٰتِ ذَرۡوࣰا ۝١

By the spreaders spreading
wal-dhāriyāti dharwa
51:2 ›
فَٱلۡحَـٰمِلَـٰتِ وِقۡرࣰا ۝٢

And those carrying loads
fal-ḥāmilāti wiq'ra
51:3 ›
فَٱلۡجَـٰرِیَـٰتِ یُسۡرࣰا ۝٣

And those moving gently
fal-jāriyāti yus'ra
51:4 ›
فَٱلۡمُقَسِّمَـٰتِ أَمۡرًا ۝٤

And those distributing as commanded
fal-muqasimāti amra
51:5 ›
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِقࣱ ۝٥

What you are promised is true
innamā tūʿadūna laṣādiqu
51:6 ›
وَإِنَّ ٱلدِّینَ لَوَ ٰقِعࣱ ۝٦

Judgment will take place
wa-inna l-dīna lawāqiʿu
51:7 ›
وَٱلسَّمَاۤءِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡحُبُكِ ۝٧

By the sky that is woven
wal-samāi dhāti l-ḥubuk
51:8 ›
إِنَّكُمۡ لَفِی قَوۡلࣲ مُّخۡتَلِفࣲ ۝٨

You differ in what you say
innakum lafī qawlin mukh'talifi
51:9 ›
یُؤۡفَكُ عَنۡهُ مَنۡ أُفِكَ ۝٩

Averted from it is he who is averted
yu'faku ʿanhu man ufik
51:10 ›
قُتِلَ ٱلۡخَرَّ ٰصُونَ ۝١٠

Perish the imposters
qutila l-kharāṣūn
51:11 ›
ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ فِی غَمۡرَةࣲ سَاهُونَ ۝١١

Those who are dazed in ignorance
alladhīna hum fī ghamratin sāhūn
51:12 ›
یَسۡءَلُونَ أَیَّانَ یَوۡمُ ٱلدِّینِ ۝١٢

They ask, 'When is the Day of Judgment?'
yasalūna ayyāna yawmu l-dīn
51:13 ›
یَوۡمَ هُمۡ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ یُفۡتَنُونَ ۝١٣

The Day they are presented to the Fire
yawma hum ʿalā l-nāri yuf'tanūn
51:14 ›
ذُوقُوا۟ فِتۡنَتَكُمۡ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِی كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝١٤

'Taste your ordeal. This is what you used to challenge.'
dhūqū fit'natakum hādhā alladhī kuntum bihi tastaʿjilūn
51:15 ›
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونٍ ۝١٥

But the pious are amidst gardens and springs
inna l-mutaqīna fī jannātin waʿuyūni
51:16 ›
ءَاخِذِینَ مَاۤ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ قَبۡلَ ذَ ٰلِكَ مُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٦

Receiving what their Lord has given them. They were virtuous before that
ākhidhīna mā ātāhum rabbuhum innahum kānū qabla dhālika muḥ'sinīn
51:17 ›
كَانُوا۟ قَلِیلࣰا مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ مَا یَهۡجَعُونَ ۝١٧

They used to sleep a little at night
kānū qalīlan mina al-layli mā yahjaʿūn
51:18 ›
وَبِٱلۡأَسۡحَارِ هُمۡ یَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ ۝١٨

And at dawn, they would pray for pardon
wabil-asḥāri hum yastaghfirūn
51:19 ›
وَفِیۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلِهِمۡ حَقࣱّ لِّلسَّاۤىِٕلِ وَٱلۡمَحۡرُومِ ۝١٩

And in their wealth, there was a share for the beggar and the deprived
wafī amwālihim ḥaqqun lilssāili wal-maḥrūm
51:20 ›
وَفِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ءَایَـٰتࣱ لِّلۡمُوقِنِینَ ۝٢٠

And on earth are signs for the convinced
wafī l-arḍi āyātun lil'mūqinīn
51:21 ›
وَفِیۤ أَنفُسِكُمۡۚ أَفَلَا تُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٢١

And within yourselves. Do you not see
wafī anfusikum afalā tub'ṣirūn
51:22 ›
وَفِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ رِزۡقُكُمۡ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ ۝٢٢

And in the heaven is your livelihood, and what you are promised
wafī l-samāi riz'qukum wamā tūʿadūn
51:23 ›
فَوَرَبِّ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقࣱّ مِّثۡلَ مَاۤ أَنَّكُمۡ تَنطِقُونَ ۝٢٣

By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is as true as the fact that you speak
fawarabbi l-samāi wal-arḍi innahu laḥaqqun mith'la mā annakum tanṭiqūn
2 Fate of Previous Nations
51:24 ›
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِیثُ ضَیۡفِ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِینَ ۝٢٤

Has the story of Abraham's honorable guests reached you
hal atāka ḥadīthu ḍayfi ib'rāhīma l-muk'ramīn
51:25 ›
إِذۡ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمࣰاۖ قَالَ سَلَـٰمࣱ قَوۡمࣱ مُّنكَرُونَ ۝٢٥

When they entered upon him, they said, 'Peace.' He said, 'Peace, strangers.'
idh dakhalū ʿalayhi faqālū salāman qāla salāmun qawmun munkarūn
51:26 ›
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهِۦ فَجَاۤءَ بِعِجۡلࣲ سَمِینࣲ ۝٢٦

Then he slipped away to his family, and brought a fatted calf
farāgha ilā ahlihi fajāa biʿij'lin samīni
51:27 ›
فَقَرَّبَهُۥۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡ قَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٢٧

He set it before them. He said, 'Will you not eat?'
faqarrabahu ilayhim qāla alā takulūn
51:28 ›
فَأَوۡجَسَ مِنۡهُمۡ خِیفَةࣰۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفۡۖ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ عَلِیمࣲ ۝٢٨

And he harbored fear of them. They said, 'Do not fear,' and they announced to him the good news of a knowledgeable boy
fa-awjasa min'hum khīfatan qālū lā takhaf wabasharūhu bighulāmin ʿalīmi
51:29 ›
فَأَقۡبَلَتِ ٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ فِی صَرَّةࣲ فَصَكَّتۡ وَجۡهَهَا وَقَالَتۡ عَجُوزٌ عَقِیمࣱ ۝٢٩

His wife came forward crying. She clasped her face, and said, 'A barren old woman?'
fa-aqbalati im'ra-atuhu fī ṣarratin faṣakkat wajhahā waqālat ʿajūzun ʿaqīmu
51:30 ›
قَالُوا۟ كَذَ ٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٣٠
Talal Itani (2012)
They said, 'Thus spoke your Lord. He is the Wise, the Knowing.'
qālū kadhāliki qāla rabbuki innahu huwa l-ḥakīmu l-ʿalīm
51:31 ›
۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَیُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝٣١
Talal Itani (2012)
He said, 'What is your business, O envoys?'
qāla famā khaṭbukum ayyuhā l-mur'salūn
51:32 ›
قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّاۤ أُرۡسِلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمࣲ مُّجۡرِمِینَ ۝٣٢

They said, 'We are sent to a people guilty of sin.'
qālū innā ur'sil'nā ilā qawmin muj'rimīn
51:33 ›
لِنُرۡسِلَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن طِینࣲ ۝٣٣

'To unleash upon them rocks of clay.'
linur'sila ʿalayhim ḥijāratan min ṭīni
51:34 ›
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝٣٤

'Marked by your Lord for the excessive.'
musawwamatan ʿinda rabbika lil'mus'rifīn
51:35 ›
فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مَن كَانَ فِیهَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٣٥

We evacuated all the believers who were in it
fa-akhrajnā man kāna fīhā mina l-mu'minīn
51:36 ›
فَمَا وَجَدۡنَا فِیهَا غَیۡرَ بَیۡتࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٣٦

But found in it only one household of Muslims
famā wajadnā fīhā ghayra baytin mina l-mus'limīn
51:37 ›
وَتَرَكۡنَا فِیهَاۤ ءَایَةࣰ لِّلَّذِینَ یَخَافُونَ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِیمَ ۝٣٧
Talal Itani (2012)
And We left in it a sign for those who fear the painful punishment
wataraknā fīhā āyatan lilladhīna yakhāfūna l-ʿadhāba l-alīm
51:38 ›
وَفِی مُوسَىٰۤ إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٣٨
Talal Itani (2012)
And in Moses. We sent him to Pharaoh with a clear authority
wafī mūsā idh arsalnāhu ilā fir'ʿawna bisul'ṭānin mubīni
51:39 ›
فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكۡنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَـٰحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونࣱ ۝٣٩
Talal Itani (2012)
But he turned away with his warlords, and said, 'A sorcerer or a madman.'
fatawallā biruk'nihi waqāla sāḥirun aw majnūnu
51:40 ›
فَأَخَذۡنَـٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡیَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِیمࣱ ۝٤٠
Talal Itani (2012)
So We seized him and his troops, and threw them into the sea, and He was to blame
fa-akhadhnāhu wajunūdahu fanabadhnāhum fī l-yami wahuwa mulīmu
51:41 ›
وَفِی عَادٍ إِذۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلرِّیحَ ٱلۡعَقِیمَ ۝٤١
Talal Itani (2012)
And in Aad. We unleashed against them the devastating wind
wafī ʿādin idh arsalnā ʿalayhimu l-rīḥa l-ʿaqīm
51:42 ›
مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَیۡءٍ أَتَتۡ عَلَیۡهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتۡهُ كَٱلرَّمِیمِ ۝٤٢
Talal Itani (2012)
It spared nothing it came upon, but rendered it like decayed ruins
mā tadharu min shayin atat ʿalayhi illā jaʿalathu kal-ramīm
51:43 ›
وَفِی ثَمُودَ إِذۡ قِیلَ لَهُمۡ تَمَتَّعُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ حِینࣲ ۝٤٣
Talal Itani (2012)
And in Thamood. They were told, 'Enjoy yourselves for a while.'
wafī thamūda idh qīla lahum tamattaʿū ḥattā ḥīni
51:44 ›
فَعَتَوۡا۟ عَنۡ أَمۡرِ رَبِّهِمۡ فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ وَهُمۡ یَنظُرُونَ ۝٤٤
Talal Itani (2012)
But they defied the command of their Lord, so the lightning struck them as they looked on
faʿataw ʿan amri rabbihim fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣāʿiqatu wahum yanẓurūn
51:45 ›
فَمَا ٱسۡتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مِن قِیَامࣲ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنتَصِرِینَ ۝٤٥

They could not rise up, nor could they find help
famā is'taṭāʿū min qiyāmin wamā kānū muntaṣirīn
51:46 ›
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحࣲ مِّن قَبۡلُۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ قَوۡمࣰا فَـٰسِقِینَ ۝٤٦
Talal Itani (2012)
And before that, the people of Noah. They were immoral people
waqawma nūḥin min qablu innahum kānū qawman fāsiqīn
3 Judgment is sure
51:47 ›
وَٱلسَّمَاۤءَ بَنَیۡنَـٰهَا بِأَیۡی۟دࣲ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ ۝٤٧
Talal Itani (2012)
We constructed the universe with power, and We are expanding it
wal-samāa banaynāhā bi-aydin wa-innā lamūsiʿūn
51:48 ›
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فَرَشۡنَـٰهَا فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمَـٰهِدُونَ ۝٤٨
Talal Itani (2012)
And the earth—We spread it out—How well We prepared it
wal-arḍa farashnāhā faniʿ'ma l-māhidūn
51:49 ›
وَمِن كُلِّ شَیۡءٍ خَلَقۡنَا زَوۡجَیۡنِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٤٩
Talal Itani (2012)
We created all things in pairs, so that you may reflect and ponder
wamin kulli shayin khalaqnā zawjayni laʿallakum tadhakkarūn
51:50 ›
فَفِرُّوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّی لَكُم مِّنۡهُ نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٥٠
Talal Itani (2012)
'So flee towards God. I am to you from Him a clear warner.'
fafirrū ilā l-lahi innī lakum min'hu nadhīrun mubīnu
51:51 ›
وَلَا تَجۡعَلُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَۖ إِنِّی لَكُم مِّنۡهُ نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٥١
Talal Itani (2012)
'And do not set up any other god with God. I am to you from Him a clear warner.'
walā tajʿalū maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara innī lakum min'hu nadhīrun mubīnu
51:52 ›
كَذَ ٰلِكَ مَاۤ أَتَى ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا۟ سَاحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٌ ۝٥٢

Likewise, no messenger came to those before them, but they said, 'A sorcerer or a madman.'
kadhālika mā atā alladhīna min qablihim min rasūlin illā qālū sāḥirun aw majnūnu
51:53 ›
أَتَوَاصَوۡا۟ بِهِۦۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ طَاغُونَ ۝٥٣

Did they recommend it to one another? In fact, they are rebellious people
atawāṣaw bihi bal hum qawmun ṭāghūn
51:54 ›
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ فَمَاۤ أَنتَ بِمَلُومࣲ ۝٥٤

So turn away from them; you are not to blame
fatawalla ʿanhum famā anta bimalūmi
51:55 ›
وَذَكِّرۡ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥٥

And remind, for the reminder benefits the believers
wadhakkir fa-inna l-dhik'rā tanfaʿu l-mu'minīn
51:56 ›
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِیَعۡبُدُونِ ۝٥٦
Talal Itani (2012)
I did not create the jinn and the humans except to worship Me
wamā khalaqtu l-jina wal-insa illā liyaʿbudūn
51:57 ›
مَاۤ أُرِیدُ مِنۡهُم مِّن رِّزۡقࣲ وَمَاۤ أُرِیدُ أَن یُطۡعِمُونِ ۝٥٧
Talal Itani (2012)
I need no livelihood from them, nor do I need them to feed Me
mā urīdu min'hum min riz'qin wamā urīdu an yuṭ'ʿimūn
51:58 ›
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلۡقُوَّةِ ٱلۡمَتِینُ ۝٥٨

God is the Provider, the One with Power, the Strong
inna l-laha huwa l-razāqu dhū l-quwati l-matīn
51:59 ›
فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذَنُوبࣰا مِّثۡلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصۡحَـٰبِهِمۡ فَلَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ ۝٥٩
Talal Itani (2012)
Those who do wrong will have their turn, like the turn of their counterparts, so let them not rush Me
fa-inna lilladhīna ẓalamū dhanūban mith'la dhanūbi aṣḥābihim falā yastaʿjilūn
51:60 ›
فَوَیۡلࣱ لِّلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن یَوۡمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِی یُوعَدُونَ ۝٦٠

So woe to those who disbelieve because of that Day of theirs which they are promised
fawaylun lilladhīna kafarū min yawmihimu alladhī yūʿadūn
