The Cow 2:251

جَالُوتَ jālūta

وَءَاتَىٰهُ waātāhu

ٱللَّهُ l-lahu

ٱلْمُلْكَ l-mul'ka

وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ wal-ḥik'mata
and the wisdom Noun
وَعَلَّمَهُۥ waʿallamahu
and taught him V
مِمَّا mimmā

يَشَآءُ yashāu
He willed V
وَلَوْلَا walawlā
And if not Prep
دَفْعُ dafʿu
(for the) repelling Noun
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi
(by) Allah Noun
ٱلنَّاسَ l-nāsa

بَعْضَهُم baʿḍahum
some of them Noun
بِبَعْضٍ bibaʿḍin
with others Noun
لَّفَسَدَتِ lafasadati
certainly (would have) corrupted V
ٱلْأَرْضُ l-arḍu
the Earth Noun
وَلَٰكِنَّ walākinna
[and] but Prep
ٱللَّهَ l-laha
Allah Noun
ذُو dhū
(is) Possessor Noun
فَضْلٍ faḍlin
(of) bounty Noun
عَلَى ʿalā
to Prep
ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ l-ʿālamīna
the worlds Noun

and so with God’s permission they defeated them. David killed Goliath, and God gave him sovereignty and wisdom and taught him what He pleased. If God did not drive some back by means of others the earth would be completely corrupt, but God is bountiful to all

فَهَزَمُوهُم بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتَلَ دَاوُۥدُ جَالُوتَ وَءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُلۡكَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَعَلَّمَهُۥ مِمَّا یَشَاۤءُۗ وَلَوۡلَا دَفۡعُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعۡضَهُم بِبَعۡضࣲ لَّفَسَدَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٢٥١

fahazamūhum bi-idh'ni l-lahi waqatala dāwūdu jālūta waātāhu l-lahu l-mul'ka wal-ḥik'mata waʿallamahu mimmā yashāu walawlā dafʿu l-lahi l-nāsa baʿḍahum bibaʿḍin lafasadati l-arḍu walākinna l-laha dhū faḍlin ʿalā l-ʿālamīn
