The Spoils of War 8:41

وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ wa-iʿ'lamū

أَنَّمَا annamā

غَنِمْتُم ghanim'tum
you obtain (as) spoils of war V
مِّن min

شَىْءٍ shayin

فَأَنَّ fa-anna
then that Prep
لِلَّهِ lillahi
for Allah Noun
خُمُسَهُۥ khumusahu
(is) one fifth of it Noun
وَلِلرَّسُولِ walilrrasūli
and for the Messenger Noun
وَلِذِى walidhī
and for the Noun
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ l-qur'bā
near relatives Noun
وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ wal-yatāmā
and the orphans Noun
وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ wal-masākīni
and the needy Noun
وَٱبْنِ wa-ib'ni
and the Noun
ٱلسَّبِيلِ l-sabīli
wayfarer Noun
إِن in
if Prep
كُنتُمْ kuntum
you V
ءَامَنتُم āmantum
believe V
بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi
in Allah Noun
وَمَآ wamā
and (in) what Prep
أَنزَلْنَا anzalnā
We sent down V
عَلَىٰ ʿalā
to Prep
عَبْدِنَا ʿabdinā
Our slave Noun
يَوْمَ yawma
(on the) day Noun
ٱلْفُرْقَانِ l-fur'qāni
(of) the criterion Noun
يَوْمَ yawma
(the) day Noun
ٱلْتَقَى l-taqā
(when) met V
ٱلْجَمْعَانِ l-jamʿāni
the two forces Noun
وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu
And Allah Noun
عَلَىٰ ʿalā
(is) on Prep
كُلِّ kulli
every Noun
شَىْءٍ shayin
thing Noun
قَدِيرٌ qadīrun
All-Powerful Noun

Know that one-fifth of your battle gains belongs to God and the Messenger, to close relatives and orphans, to the needy and travellers, if you believe in God and the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the day of the decision, the day when the two forces met in battle. God has power over all things

۞ وَٱعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّمَا غَنِمۡتُم مِّن شَیۡءࣲ فَأَنَّ لِلَّهِ خُمُسَهُۥ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِی ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡیَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَـٰكِینِ وَٱبۡنِ ٱلسَّبِیلِ إِن كُنتُمۡ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ وَمَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِنَا یَوۡمَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانِ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡتَقَى ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدِیرٌ ۝٤١

wa-iʿ'lamū annamā ghanim'tum min shayin fa-anna lillahi khumusahu walilrrasūli walidhī l-qur'bā wal-yatāmā wal-masākīni wa-ib'ni l-sabīli in kuntum āmantum bil-lahi wamā anzalnā ʿalā ʿabdinā yawma l-fur'qāni yawma l-taqā l-jamʿāni wal-lahu ʿalā kulli shayin qadīru
